The Nightcap Hour 2 episode covers NBA fashion trends versus Pat Riley's nostalgia for coach suits, Kansas basketball prospect Darryn Peterson's playing time issues affecting his draft stock, athlete hotel experiences in Memphis, and the highly anticipated Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao 2 fight coming to Netflix in September 2026. The episode also discusses the Dallas Cowboys' plan to franchise tag wide receiver George Pickens.
Insights
- Modern sports leagues prioritize merchandise sales and player branding over traditional dress codes, making a return to coach suits economically unfeasible despite leadership perception arguments
- Playing limited minutes as a top draft prospect creates negative narrative momentum that's harder to reverse than sitting out entirely, damaging draft positioning and team chemistry
- Floyd Mayweather's potential comeback fights are primarily driven by financial motivation rather than competitive legacy, with strategic opponent selection crucial for maximizing paydays
- Franchise tag usage by teams creates leverage asymmetry that disadvantages players, forcing them into year-long negotiations while owners maintain roster control and shopping rights
- Professional athletes now view game day appearances as fashion runway opportunities, with outfit coordination and merchandise sales becoming integral to personal brand value

This is what I honestly think they should do with the three-point line. I think the three-point line should be an LED line that just comes and goes. Like, you can turn it off and turn it back on at certain times of the game. Like, if you're down 10 or three minutes in the first four minutes, you know, like... It's like trying to, like, have a four-point play, like, certain points at the end of the game. It's just ridiculous how I've watched games where the next three minutes were all threes. Yeah. like i think it should just turn on like somebody could just be in there you get 48 minutes a game the three-point line should be on like 30 minutes i'm like that sounds like the chinese deal we're like at the end of the game the three-point line turns a four-point line making an led line then we're gonna see who got game then you're gonna have to get buckets now you know you ain't gonna be just launching you're gonna have to get money they had that in the all-star game they had that the all-star game you was down And so for like four minutes, all the points that you scored were double. Right. So if you hit a two point, it was four. If you hit a three, it was six. Yeah, look, you can do that in the All-Star game, but they not messing with- You ain't doing that the regular season. They not mess out. Not the regular season game. Here's the game that we have to put in no LED light three point line. Nah. Nah, they not doing all that. All-Star weekend, yeah. Yeah. Nah, don't give them no idea because it was competitive. We don't want nobody to start launching a freeze again. Hell no. I say no to that idea. Absolutely not. We finally got a competitive game. And the ratings indicated, you know, reflected that. Nah, we good. Don't go tinkering with that. Pat Riley says he wishes NBA coaches still wore suits and ties. I think when the fans look over there on the sidelines, they want to see someone that looks like a leader. Joe, what are your take on this? Hey, that's that old school right there, boy. Pat old school. They buy the book. You know, I understand where he's coming from, but in today's world, man, everybody wants comfort. They let these coaches, they let players get away with just, you know, walking around being comfort. The dress code is not enforced how it used to be on that old Joe. You know what I mean? now guys have took fashion to a whole entirely another level. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They branding now. Yeah. And you don't see no coaches in suit and ties. There don't be no coaches in suit. Man, we trying to sell merchandise. We ain't trying to sell no damn suits. I wish you would bring your ass. Ocho, we marketed this stuff. You see the gear that they got on? We didn't sell that. We don't sell no suits. We don't work for Louis Vuitton and Giorgio Armani or Hugo Boss. Yeah, I think, you know what? I'm not sure what's wrong with Pat. I continue to hear the stories about how he's still old school. Sometimes I want to believe it. Sometimes I don't. But hearing it from you guys, hearing it from former players, now hearing it, this coach is back in suits in 2026 on the sideline. I mean, I'm not sure. Pat is disconnected. He's disconnected from reality. He's disconnected from how much the game has evolved. It's not the 80s. It's not the 90s. But what can I say? how much gear they they weren't selling merchandise Ocho back then a lot of coaches coach Reeves coach Landry there are a lot of coaches that used to wear suits on the sidelines but there's something called merchandise they sell stuff why do you think they have that pink they have mental health month and they have breast cancer service and they have breast cancer awareness they sell that stuff Yeah, that's why the coaches wear it. Oh, can you see that? Like, oh, I want that hoodie. I want that sweat. That coach has on, yep. Yes. Yes, yep. You think the NFL finna let these coaches wear suits on the sidelines? Uh-uh, uh-uh, uh-uh. They used to, hold on. I remember when they cut out, you had to wear sweats and stuff, and you had to wear team issue stuff on the sidelines. Issue stuff, yeah. Because before you guys come out there with the jeans on, they'd be all night in silk shirts and gold and jewelry flasks. Yep. Hold on. So NFL coaches used to wear suits? Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. And who was the coach from the Chiefs? Every time, from the Chiefs back in the day, always had on the suit. Uh-huh. Hank Stram. Yeah. Always screaming at somebody. When they didn't, they wore, no, no. It'd been in the summer, like, but like, from like September till it got cold. But Coach Reed would have a, Coach Reed would have a sweater vest on up on the upper of his jacket. Coach Reed, yeah. But now it's a different time now, and they're not going back. And these players are brands now. They're trying to get the most fashionable thing. They're coming in there with a go-yard bag, and they got Burke and, you know, Hermes, and they got this, and they got their outfits on. Shea and everybody trying to get the GQ top, but the most fashionable NFL player, the most fashionable NBA player. It's a different – it ain't going back. I mean, Joe, you remember, you couldn't even buy no tees. I know. All the tall tees, Allen Anderson done ball. Bro, you need to ask the line, what you doing with a 4X, 5X tee, bro? Yeah. Hey, it's because nowadays, coming to the games, Uncle Ocho, that's a runway. Oh, yeah. Yes. They take a picture. But I'm going to tell y'all something. The guys in the NBA, NFL, they be killing it. I like to see it on Sundays and on game days, basketball. But the women? The women be shutting it down, boy. Oh, they be shutting it down. They be cutting up. The women be shutting it down. They got Jokic and Luka, who used to wear sweats, Nugget sweats and Maverick sweats to the game. And now they suited and booted. So you know it's a wrap, man. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe and Uncle, I would have loved to play in today's game, boy. Yeah, you'd been showing out coming to the game, weren't you? Man, what? I can see you come in with some alpaca on I can see you Hey Joe I wouldn't play with them These boys do their thing When it comes to fashion I'm not going to lie They be doing it But Joe Man listen boy You know how many outfits they got to have 18 They got to have 82 I ain't talking about basketball I'm talking about football They make the playoffs I mean, look at Shea. Shea be having a garage there every year. He let his teammates come. Y'all pick whatever y'all want because this stuff got to go because they ain't going to be seen. I mean, damn. Yeah. I mean, think about it, Ocho. Okay, let's just say for the sake of our movie, they don't really see us. They get us going unless we go to and we do something good or somebody talk to us. Now they're starting to get us walking into the stadium. They didn't used to get your black ass walking into the stadium. Right, right, right, right. Hey, listen, I seen Check over there getting some outfits from Shay. I'm like, how the hell Check gonna fit some of this stuff? Yeah! I'm like, man, but yeah, these young men now, they doing their thing and now, hey, I'm here for it. Yeah. Hey, Joe, you see our girl last, the other night, Chelsea? Louie. You see her 38? Which one you talking about? Chelsea Gray, she hit 10 threes the other night. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, oh yeah, she don't play, Unk. Yeah, she know she won the one-on-one. Yeah. No, she was hotter than a bad, hotter than Four Foxes in the forest fire. Oh yeah, hey, Uncho, you ain't never been to that Unrival? It's in Miami. Oh, it was here? Oh, man. It was. Yeah, yeah, it is. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, nobody told me about it, Joe. Where they been having it at? It's still going on. I don't know, where is that, Unk? What are they having that over there? Not with the Heat playoff, no? Nah, uh-uh. It's like a, you know what I like about it? It's like a little, it's like a fun, intimate setting. It's three on three basketball, but it's full court. Where is that? I don't know. It's somewhere in Miami, Ocho. I don't know exactly where it is at. Yeah, I didn't even know about that. You know, I would have went by there and checked it out. Hey, them girls getting down out there, man. Man. Also, is girls and guys playing or just girls? Nah, it's just girls. Cream of the crop. Yeah, okay. Hey, Chelsea puttin' that work in. Oh yeah, she ain't messin' around. Yeah, she ain't, hey, Joe, did you see a shimmy? Yeah. She bounced the ball. I said, come on, Chelsea. She got some wiggle with her up. Yeah, man. They ask her, say, when you went in at half and you had made eight threes, say, what were you thinkin' at half? She like, shoot that itch. Man, she ain't. Man, she ain't. She like that. She like that for real, man. I seen her. She came. She play in the league, the AABL league that they have out here for women's in Atlanta. They have it out here. She be out here playing in it. She be out here getting money out here. That's dope. Yeah. Oh, yeah. So, Coach, Coach, they wear it. The NBA, Roger Goodell ain't going to allow that to happen. and Adam Silver ain't gonna lie that didn't happen. They sell too much merchandise, Ocho. They're not going back to that. You see that sweatsuit that the guys had on All-Star weekend? Yes. You see they sold out once they started selling? They sold out as soon as they put it up for sale. That's what they're about, bro. Yes. You know who beat clean coaches or managers? Who was that? Soccer. On the sidelines? Yeah, they do. Hey, them Italian teams? Oh, yeah, they different. Oh, my man. Hey, Joe, they be suited and booted on that sideline, boy. The managers, they be clean. Why you think every year, Ocho? What they do? Every team got three, four, five jersey combinations. They do. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they do. So guess what? The kid's like, I want it. Right. Bro, you already got four jerseys. You got four chase jerseys. Oh, I want the color rush. I won the all. Yeah. And a funny thing, when it comes to soccer or football, as most will say, every season is a different jersey. Yeah. Yes. It's a different jersey every season, and it's either three kids or sometimes even a fourth. Yeah. And the NFL goes on to that too. You look at all the combos. It used to be you have two jerseys. You had a road jersey. You had a home jersey. Home jersey. That's it. And the white jersey, for the most part, the white jersey was on the road. the dark jersey was at home. Man, now they got three home jerseys, three white jerseys. Hold on. Don't forget the pants too now. They got all kinds of different colored pants and all. Hey, look, you wish you was playing back in this day, don't you? What? Man, that all white with the Bengals, but that all white with the white helmet on? Man, every time I turn around, I'm like, damn, y'all like Oregon out there. Y'all got a different helmet damn near every week. Because, you know, at first, your dad stopped you. You wouldn't let you change helmets because they wanted to just – you have one helmet because they said they thought – but now they're like, hey, baby, we're making too much money. Go. Y'all can wear a different helmet every day if you want to. Yeah. Just keep the money flowing. Keep the money flowing. That's it. Kansas freshman Darren Peterson breaks his silence on missed games for Kansas this season. He said everybody got an opinion on it, but basketball is my life. This is the biggest night in podcasting. Wouldn't you know it, Michael Schumacher is also a Capricorn Sun, Cancer Moon. The story of the sport's most consequential driver's strike. We have one man who upon hearing that he was going to be fired freaked out and apparently climbed out the window of the bathroom And was Daniel Ricciardo illustrious F1 career a success story a cautionary tale, or some combination of both? He started getting all this attention and he maybe started to think, I'm bigger than this, I'm better. And plenty of other mishaps, scandals, and sagas that have made Formula One a delightful, decadent dumpster fire for more than 75 years. Listen to no grip starting March 4th on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Daniel Jeremiah. And I'm Greg Rosenthal. And this is 40s and Free Agents. The games may be over, but the NFL never stops. This is my favorite part of the calendar. Yeah, mine too, Greg. Free agency, the combine, the NFL draft, pro days, trades. This is where teams reshape their future. This is where Daniel Jeremiah makes his money on 40s and free agents. We break down every move that actually matters. From my draft evaluations, mock drafts, and team fits. To my top 101 free agents and how real rosters are built, cap space, contracts, and all the tough decisions included. You got quarterbacks on the move. We got teams rebuilding. It's hope season. Yeah, absolutely. It's hope season. We'll tell you what's real, what's noise, and what it means for your favorite team. Smart analysis real conversations every week i don't know about the smart but definitely analysis listen to 40s and free agents on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts if i could have been out there every game this year i would have if you would have asked me last year what my goals for this year i would have never mentioned mentioned get missing games so all this stuff kind of just happened but i've got to deal with it bill self have a different opinion on Peterson not playing, saying he hasn't finished games. The bottom line is there's a way to change the narrative. Play, finish. That's the way you get people to quit talking. Yeah. Peterson has only played 16 of the Jayhawks' 27 games this season. Peterson never mentioned subbing himself out during the Oklahoma State game. Joe? Is he too much of a liability to be taking number one overall? Are they going to you know, disregard the red flags because he is so immensely talented. It's alarming, Uncle Ocho. It's alarming if you ask me. It's a lot of basketball left to play, but it's going to be tough for him to go number one, man, considering, you know, if this continues, if he can't finish out the season or he continue to miss games or continue to, you know, only play a first half, like, yes, man, teams are not going to bank on that. Like I said, you can't even play 30 games in college. How are you going to play 82 in the NBA? Like, you know what I'm saying? So you can't be surprised. So, and the fact that the draft is so deep, man, it's other guys that's worthy of that number one pick if y'all just want me to be 100. And that's the thing, Ocho. You want the nice, pretty car, or you want the one that's not as pretty but more reliable? Liable. Because the nice, pretty one might put your ass down side the road. it might not even crank to get your ass to work. But you know that reliable one. Ain't nobody going to beat you in the heart. Ain't nobody going to be jumping up when you pull up. But guess what? You're going to be where you're supposed to be on time. Is Mr. Peterson hurt, though, Joe? I think he's been dealing with, like they say, cramps or things of that sort. I don't even know why he's been coming out of games or why he hasn't been playing. I can't even answer that, Ocho. But, you know, the fact that his coach comes out and says that he don't even know why, then yeah. At this point, we just kind of got to let it play out. Yeah, that's tough. That's tough. When your coach ain't got your back and he has no reason to understand why you're doing it, that's going to be tough. But y'all told me he was the best thing coming out, so. I mean, but here's the thing. I mean, DeBonza is just as good. And guess what? BYU? Yeah. Okay. And he reliable. He going to play. Cameron Boozer. You know, hey, you know the stock that you know is dead. So you know he good stock. And he doing it. Double, double, walking double, double. Right. Yeah. It's some guys worth it at number one pick, man. Yeah, absolutely. He's not no LeBron. He's not no Zion. He's not that head and heels over everybody else. Right. You're like, I don't give a damn what he did. Right. I'm taking it. Right. He's not that. Nah. Okay. Like I say, y'all know Marsha Madness, obviously. It's right here around the corner. So there's still a lot of ball left to play, and these guys are going to be jockeying for position. They are going to be jockeying for their number one spot. If y'all ask me personally, I like A.J. DeBasca, man. I like Ocho. I've seen him in person. The boy is 6'9". He loves to play the game. And his attributes in making guys around him better, shooting a three, going off the dribble. he has a professional game right now to this day. Like when you watch him play, you can see him in the pros dominating. Right. Yeah. Almost had a triple-double the other night. Look, I love the talent, but, man, it's just – and I think now, Ochoa, you know this, it's getting harder and harder for teams to ignore red flags because when they pop back up, people say, see, you saw all the signs. Yeah. You saw every last one of the signs. and you ignored it. And all he's doing, what he's always done. What he's done, yeah. So you shouldn't be surprised that he's doing in the NBA what he's done in college because that's what he knows. Absolutely, absolutely. So it's going to be interesting. Ben Simmons says he's not sure Darren Peterson would go number one anymore. It's giving him Ben Simmons flashback. He believes A.J. DeBonza is a safer pick. Jay Biller said shutting it down would be easy way to go. And the NBA would take him number one. Trying to play is what's causing these speculative issues about his character. I don't find it fair. But the problem is if you're hurt, sit down. Because if you go out there and you play 10 minutes, 15 minutes, Ocho, Joe, you know what's going to happen. Yeah. Yeah. Not when they deem you to be, you know, the number one pick. Right. It's just not – it's distasteful for a lot of people who love watching the game of basketball and the people who projected him to be a number one pick to just see him for 10, 15 minutes. Yeah, you better off not playing versus just going out there and playing 10, 15, 20 minutes. Yeah. I agree. Hey, I seen what Dick Vitale was saying that he thought Kansas would probably be a little better without him. Okay, Ocho. because they've been playing good basketball. Yeah, because I don't know what I'm going to get. The in and out of the lineup, I think I got, okay, I'm playing. I'm playing, and then guess what? He goes out. Now I don't have him. When I was counting on having him at least 30 to 35 minutes, now I get him for 20 minutes. What am I supposed to do with that? And a lot of the offense is built around him. Yeah, yeah. And it's tough because when he's not playing, And they got other guys who fill in, step up, play great. They still win games. And then when he comes back, you know, it's kind of everything about Peterson. So, you know, it kind of rubbed guys the wrong way. You know, y'all can kind of imagine what that's like. Damn. Yeah. But people better get a ride and say, look here, son. If you hurt, shut it down. Hey, Joe, this how I'm going to do you, Joe. Here you go. Hey, hey, Joe, I'm going to bring it here and come on back home, bruh. Come on, unk, unk. Hey, hey, unk. Unk, I'm going to have Joe ass on skates out there, bruh. Unk, what's wrong with him? That's Ocho. Draymond chimed in on Memphis having the worst hotels. He said, and it's pretty blunt about it. But, yeah, we had some issues there when we used to stay. We stopped staying there because their sprinklers just went off for no reason in the room. Damn. Drenched all of Andrew Bogus stuff. They didn't do anything about it. So we switched hotels then, right? So it's been an issue. Joe, what's going on in Memphis? Man. Okay. Y'all know Memphis used to have a Peabody. I don't know if y'all know they used to have this hotel called the Peabody. That's where everybody used to stay. So right across from the Peabody, they built this hotel the Westin. They built the Westin right across from the Westin pretty nice. That's about the only hotel they got in Memphis. That's it? It's right across the street from the stadium, from where the Grizzlies play. But that's like the only hotel that they have in Memphis, for real. Like, four or five-star hotel. I know that's where we stayed pretty much every time. You know, when I played on NBA team, every time we traveled to Memphis, you know, we stayed at the Western. Right. I mean, it's Memphis, man. You know, it's a lot go down. I mean, that's not good, Joe, you know? NBA players are giving Memphis a bad name Obviously giving the hotel a bad name as well As if they not They rated 4-5 star hotel For a reason But the feedback on the hotel Is giving 2-3 star Some of Memphis activities Is giving Memphis a bad name Hello I promise you The people that Ruckers they ain't staying in the hotel Right Right, right, right. So, but I'm gonna go to Memphis and get me some barbecue. Man, I'm telling you. Ocho. Yo. Kenya Martin says he ain't paying, he tweeted. I ain't paying up, now what? Yeah, I like that. I like that, that's good energy. That's good energy. He also said he doesn't seem scared of your challenge. You too small, dude, 5'10 ain't gonna cut it. Wow. Get him to your face off. Who we thought was 5'10? Wow. Hey, Ken, he must know, he must know I'm 6'3", huh? Yeah, we gonna, hey, Joe, hey, Joe, we gonna have to deal with that, Joe. He said, what you call him? What'd he say? He said he gonna jab you, Ocho. Yeah, hey, I like that. I like that. I like that. K-Mart, man, come on and pay up, man. You all, them Daniel Marshalls. You all 25 cigars. Hey, you know what I like about this? What's that? I love the back and forth, especially when it's people we know, people we come to wit, you know, Joyce, Joyce, Joyce, back and forth, you know, having some fun. And I hate the people that don't know. We all know each other and they chime in just being all serious. Like, can y'all get can y'all get out of our fun? Let us have some fun, please. No. And you like, you got to get that back in blood. Oh, yeah. Yeah. We listen. We could do that. We could do that. We could do that. I'm gonna tell Kenyon, Kenyon don't even realize, how tall Kenyon, about 6'10", 6'11"? He about 6'9", 6'10". 6'9", yeah, that's good height, that's good height, because they call me hell of hands for a reason, huh? They call me hell of hands for a reason, Joe. Huh? I'm gonna put him through hell. Yeah, I like that. Hey, Kenyon, don't worry about it, just go ahead and give me the 12 cigars and pay Ocho later. Ocho owe me. What I owe you, huh? That's crazy. 5'900. Man, that's three years now, ain't it? Yeah. Come on, hey, chill, Joe, chill, Joe. I'm just saying, old Joe, I'm just saying, come on, man. Joe, I had to pay my daughter's tuition, man. She in nursing school at University of Miami. Had to use that money for that, man. Come on, Joe. Hey, you know, my daughter in residency. I sure would like to help her out if I could. I know hey but listen my daughter you know she in nursing school the nursing program at University of Miami is pretty hefty It a hefty price Hey listen you think it more expensive than medical school I don't know. I don't know. Uncle's up there, man. Hey, listen. So you think being a nurse is more expensive than becoming a doctor? I mean, well, she's looking to become a doctor as well. Yeah. Yeah, it's expensive. Yeah, I mean, my daughter's in residency. She got two years left. I mean, I'd like to be able to help out. Well, hold on. How many years you got to do? Like four, right? She did four. She did four of undergrads. She did three in a master's program. She did four, and now she got to do another three. Well, shoot. Well, you done covered it all this time. You might as well go ahead and take it. You know, money jumped funny a couple months ago. Hey, listen. Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe, you done covered it all this time? Hey, listen. But, you know, I was waiting for that 5,900 to come in. Hey. She called me and said she needed a new iPhone 17 plus. I said, well, baby, you know. Hey, why is it when somebody owe you? They always go to talking about what they had to take care of them for themselves. Man, a man. Hey, Joe, it wasn't for me. You know, it's for the kids, Joe. It's for the kids. No, all board drivers have. My daughter is in a nursing program at University of Miami. And boy, boy, they don't play over there with them prices, boy. They don't play, Joe. Oh, my God. But listen, whatever she want to do, daddy going to make it happen. Whatever she want to do, even if it's the money I owe somebody. See, you know what I'm saying, Joe? Now you're going to tell me I'm going to take the money. I owe somebody. Hey, no, I got you, though. Hey, one thing about it, Joe. As long as I owe him, he ain't going to never be broke. But my daughter going to be home and she ain't got no money. I can't send no money, you know? I got you. pick up a little knickknacks. Hey, I slide a little something to you. Oh, Joe. They must have heard us. After 11 years, Netflix will present Floyd Mayweather versus Matty Pacquiao. Part two. In Vegas, September 19th, 2026. The first fight between the duo in 2015 generated a record-breaking 4.6 million U.S. pay-per-view buys and a live gate money with ticket sales was a staggering $72 million. Floyd has been retired for nine years, while Manny just fought several months ago against Mario Barrios. I told you. And Manny thought he won the fight. I told you. I told you. My only thing is, Ocho, Floyd has been able to hang his hat on that zero. If the zero is gone, and a lot of people, because here's the thing. you can only fool the people for so long he loses well we already saw him lost because I think a lot of people yeah he was a phenomenal fighter I didn't tune in to watch him lose I tuned in to watch him beat somebody's ass but a lot of people did tune in Ocho because they wanted to see I saw him lose and that's the great thing that's the great thing about Mayweather during his career is building yourself up as the villain and being able to command such enormous paydays because the people, the majority of the people tuning in are tuning in to hope you fail. And they hope 50 times. And all 50 times, you debunked them in their hopes, in their wishes. So again, now, far removed outside of your prime, you're fighting Manny Pacquiao again. What is everybody going to tune in to see? whether you 48, 58, 68 finally, is it the time when we finally get to see the pound for pound one of the greatest of all time do we finally get to see that asterisk where he gets the loss finally, everybody gonna tune in to see is that the sphere yeah, ooh that's gonna be ooh that's gonna be nice have you been there yet Ocho? nah nah nah, I walked on the outside though I walked on the outside, that was enough for me it's crazy Joe Yeah, you went to the MMA thing, right? UFC fight. Yeah, I went to the UFC fight there. Hey, well, what's up, man? We're going to go to the fight? We can make it happen? Yeah. Okay, what's up? It's in September. I'm ready. You ain't got to ask me twice. I get my outfit together now. Man, I like that. I mean, I would like to put $5,900 down towards something. You don't get put it on layaway, Joe. Hey, listen. I ain't going to lie to y'all. I don't really know how I feel about it. Talk to me. Talk to me, Joe. I'm a huge fan of Floyd and Pacquiao. I don't think Floyd going to get in that ring unless he knows that he can be somewhat honking Ocho of what he's been. But, you know, when you ain't boxing a while, man, that ain't, this ain't, you know, everything is repetition, reps. Like, it's different, man. Hey, Joe. What's up? Hey, Joe and Unc, I think we have to realize, we have to understand. And for those in the chat that are watching, now we know we talk about a Floyd Mayweather retiring, but we have to understand this is the same Floyd Mayweather that stays active even when he's not fighting. He's always in the gym. He's still always training. So even if Floyd Mayweather of old is still a shell of himself, even at 40 years old, a shell of himself Floyd Mayweather is still better than most based on who he once was. based on who he once was, even if he's not the Floyd Mayweather in his prime, and that's okay, even if his Spidey senses aren't the same as they used to be, he can still do one thing. He can still box, he can still fight, he can still protect himself, he still has defense. He might be a millisecond slower, but still, talk to me. A millisecond slower. Oh yeah, it makes a difference. But also, you're fighting someone that just has experienced, that had just as much wear and tear as you do too. Yeah. I think it kind of evens out. This ain't like no exhibition. This a real fight. Oh, no. This is a real deal, baby. It's the real deal. Okay. Real deal. But the thing is, Ocho, okay, he fights Pacquiao. Yes, sir. Then he fights what next? I mean, Floyd going to win. I don't know. I mean, I'm sure Manny can make 147. Hell, Manny can probably walk around with it. Probably 137. Yeah. I want to know how much. Floyd, Floyd, Floyd walk around weight is 150. So it ain't enough for him to drop three pounds. Three pounds. Yep. What y'all think the payday gonna be? Well, you see where they played Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. They played Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua. He might. He might clear 300. Damn. Yeah. He might clear 300. And you know, you know, you know who else is a good one too? Who is that? I don't know where he goes from after that fight. I would make one more. I just don't know what it would be. Obviously, you said you didn't like the names that I threw out there, obviously, for obvious reasons because of the weight and one being at the pinnacle and the top in his career and just defeating Canelo. But I'm talking about being able to grab the most and maximizing these last two shots in the ring. I'm just saying. oh you're talking about you on Florida fight bud man I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know hey Joe I said it the other night and everybody laughed at me I said three names now all of a sudden two days later one of those names is the ones he's fighting because I'm understanding the only way to maximize as much if you're having financial problems you know and being able to recoup what you're suing for hell he's suing Al Heyman for 3040 and whatever company it might be, I don't know. Showtime, 340. Showtime, 340. Hell, he going to clear that 300 right now against Pacquiao. So if you want to go again and be able to get another cash grab, Canelo rematch. I'm just saying, even if there's a weight discrepancy, I mean, what do we do in that situation? I'm just throwing names out there. Me personally, Ocho, I don't think Canelo is interested and dropping no weight. Floyd can't come. Man, ain't no way in hell. Floyd ain't never weighed no 160. He only fought one fight. He fought Dayla Foria at 154, and he was under that weight. Yeah. Listen, I'm just – I know. I understand. I understand what you mean. I understand what you're saying. But I'm just saying, you know, based on the circumstance and situations that I'm assuming he may be in. That's all. That's all. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I hope it's not true. I got a question, too. Yeah. Hey, now we talk about a fight in September at the spear, right? Now, this is good. This is nice. Now, I understand it's a professional fight. What y'all think about your boy being on the undercard? A spear is a round shape. That's what I said. The spear. No, a spear is what you throw. I said the spear. It's spelled spear. Yeah, it's spelled S-P-H-E-R-E-R-E. That's what I said. I said spear. No, see, you know, I talk country now, so it's hard for you to understand. Hey, but listen. Who you thinking about fighting? Huh? Who you thinking about fighting on the card? I don't know. Hey, Joe, it got to be somebody with a boxing back. I'm not talking about no celebs or nothing like that. Like, I need to get in there and go. Joe, what you think, Joe? Just depending on who you fighting, though, Joe. I don't like that answer, Joe. I need a little more confidence from you, Joe. I tell you what what about Florida Roy Jones no no that's not going to generate what he's trying to do it's not going to generate the revenue he's trying to listen you remember when I talked about that when I said those three names I said it's going to have to be someone where he's going to have to take a chance you got to take a chance because you need people to be tuned in to see alright he has a chance he can lose fight back out You think he ain't got no chance to lose against Roy, huh? Nah, I don't. You know what? They kind of been having a little back and forth, ain't they? That's why I threw it out there. Okay, yeah, I see where you're going with this. I see where you're going with this. All right. No. You can box. I tell you what, Ocho. What about you box Emmanuel Acho? No, I said a real fighter. Hey. Hey. Hey. Nah, nah, nah. I can't. Hey. Nah, nah. Ocho, you been training like that? I ain't stopped yet. I ain't stopped yet, Joe. Oh, Lord have mercy. I ain't, I ain't, I ain't, I ain't, I ain't be laughing. He know I, I train every day. I do my soccer, I do my soccer in the mornings and I do boxing in the evening. And then when you do your Zumba? Cause you a Zumba instructor, when you do it? Yeah, that's on, that's on Wednesdays and Fridays, Joe. Oh, okay. Yeah, on South Beach. Anytime you down here in Miami, you can come check my class out. Okay. Yeah, right, I do it right on Nicky Beach. What you brainstorming over there? What you think about? What about Florida Ryan Garcia? Ooh. You like that with how old you look? Mm-hmm. I think he'll probably, I think Florida take that, he'll take that in a heartbeat. Man, listen. And make 147 easy. I'm not worried about him making weight. At Florida, he never had no weight problem. No, that's not the problem. That's not the problem at all. Damn. I mean, obviously, he can't fight Shakur. He can't fight somebody like that. No. I don't think he can fight Bud. Me neither. because Bud, you know, I heard Bud on the pod, you know, it's like, well, who you want me to fight? Who's out there for me to fight? Now, I'm sure if Turkey say, look here, Bud, we're going to put this thing together, you and Floyd, Bud's like, oh, how much? A hundred? Okay. What about, what about, uh, what about if he fall boots? I'm talking about, I ain't talking about Floyd. I'm talking about, uh. Bud? Yeah. It ain't going to money in that fight. Yeah. He's not going to take the chance. Boots ain't a big enough name. See, in order for you to generate a fight, you got to get casuals to watch it. The hardcore people like Ocho going to watch it. Ocho going to watch two kangaroos fight because he like fighting. So you discount Ocho. Ocho, you know, look, I think Ryan Garcia and Floyd make sense. I don't think there's no chance in hell that Conor could ever get back down to 150, 155. He's too big right now. Yeah, God, yeah. He's huge. I mean, knowing him, I mean, with his training background and, you know, background, I'm assuming he could if the potential of Conor McGregor Floyd too would have happened he could probably get down he just has to lose all that damn muscle nah it's hard and man when you lose muscle man you remember what happened with Roy Roy was never the same when he went up to fight Ruiz he beat Ruiz at 193 and he had to drop all that weight he cut all muscle he was never the same he'll tell you he was never the same after he beat Ruiz. Damn. I definitely think that's a fight we should probably be in attendance for. Okay. I went to the fight. I went to the one where he fought Ricky Haddon. Floyd fought Ricky Haddon. Yeah. He hit him into that turnbuckle. That wasn't nothing but a check hook joke. He timed it. the beautiful check hook tying it perfectly too. Uh-uh, excuse me, take that with you. Walked it right into it. I've been to a few years. Man, they talk about Tank and Floyd. Floyd Tank gotta get some issues resolved first I mean Tank might be on the shelf for a minute He gotta to get some issues resolved get everything behind him and then you know he can think about fighting Right now he might be fighting for his freedom Right, right. I agree. So he need to get those issues resolved. He gets those issues resolved. He's plenty young enough because he's an exciting fighter. Yeah. You know, he got dynamite in his hands. He can end the fight. He can turn them. He can turn them, you know, he can make you short circuit. yeah quick cut your lights out quick hey but but i think that make the most sense to me on floyd next two fights do handle handle do handle your business against pacquiao and find a way to get the ball rolling mcgregor too but then how many fights how many fights i think he gonna what if he just want to do this i would i would say i would say i would say do three i do three max i'm not i'm not talking about i'm find a way to get the 53 and oh find a way to get to 53 and 0 maximize the next three years maybe two yeah maybe three maybe two maybe two them three fights I'm not sure the third person would be but the third person I fight would be the biggest chance I'd have to take where there's a huge chance I could lose well if you fight Bud it's gonna happen if you fight Bud it's gonna happen leave Bud alone hey I'm just hey get the world Get the people they want to see. It'll be a big payday one at Ocho. It'll be bigger than the Pacquiao one, and it'll be bigger than the next McGregor one, that third one. And then what you call it, I mean, because, look, it's hard to overlap eras, but when you got a guy that's a three-division undisputed champ in the four-bed era, and that's what Bud is. Yeah. He's a three-division undisputed in the four-bed era. listen to me I'm telling you Joe based on the circumstance and the situation that we are assuming based on reports that Floyd might be in he can get the most almost topping what he's already made when he was fighting in his prime in a short amount of time Pacquiao Mayweather and going a goddamn limb with Bud I'm just saying well he can only fight one time he can only fight once this year because he's not fighting until September. It's out of the question. He only did one fight in 26. I'm not saying to double it up back to back. I'm just saying those three in a matter of time that you see suitable. You got to understand, Floyd don't take much punishment either. He don't take much punishment. I think it's going to take much punishment. We don't know if he's going to take those reflexes and slow down. It's going to be interesting to see, but I'm going to be there to see it. We'll be there to see it. Right. Yeah. I'm going to be fighting. Don't forget that, huh? Oh. Hey, Joe. What's up, bro? It's going to be good, man. I'm telling you. I'm going to represent Nightcap to the fullest, bro. Hey, Joe, I don't play. I know I do a lot of talking, Joe, but you know in that ring, boy, I'm nice, boy. I've been training the past six years now. Okay. I got you. I talk a good one, but so these hands talk one, too. I'm going to follow your lead on this one. I'm going to follow your lead. That's all I ask for you, Joe. That's all I ask. I got you. I'm going to back you up, bro. I wonder who's going to be on the undercard, though. I just told you, huh? I'm going to call Leonard. I'm going to call Ellerbe. We're going to have to hit Brona or something. Maybe you fight Adrian Brona. Ooh, that's a good one. Yeah. That's a good A. Brona, bro. Hey, now that's an exciting. Hey, Joe, you laughing. I ain't going to lie. I was getting cooked out there. Hey, that'd be a good one, though. Yeah. Ocho, you get out there with Brona? Boy, you telling me? Nah, not me, man. Hell nah. What you mean? I thought you said you wanted to fight a boxer. Nah, come on, man. Not that boxer. Brona too small, man. Oh, he too small for you? Hey, Brona killed me, man, if he wanted to, for real. Joe, that's a real boxer, what? I thought that what you said. Nah, man. Joe, don't give me nobody that experience. joke? Hey, hey, all jokes aside, you know, a lot of people make jokes and, you know, they laugh and when boxers get knocked out and, you know, they fighting and I don't want to do people understand that these dudes will hurt you if they want to, especially when you're in their environment, when you're not used to punches coming and that... You never see it. At all. It's different. Yeah, I don't know how many people in the chat has actually been to a fight and been close enough I mean when the guy head snapped when the guy head snapped he already it's like a snake he already in a recall and you just not see the man head snap back he just like the round snake he like oh he wrapped man he done bit you man they put them punches together so quick you know man that's how you get knocked out cause you don't see it you know you don't and and and them three minutes be long as I don't know what hey long as hell but But we now know Floyd has a fight on the calendar, and it's going to be September 19th of this year. He's taking on Manny Pacquiao on Netflix. Netflix, y'all know what we do. There we go. There we go. Hey, Netflix, make sure you have your boy on there. Make sure you come holler at the king now. Uh-oh. Coach, you're about to be mad. What's that? What happened? Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones admitted the Cowboys are leaning towards using the franchise tag on George Pickens. Joe Ocho, let's take a listen to what the executive VP had to say today. It crosses your mind. I mean, a lot of guys who we've tagged, you know, participated in everything. Dak leading the way. He played under two of them, so he never missed anything. Hopefully that'll be the case here. It'll be advantageous to get it done before July. I'm talking about Pickens. I wouldn't put any time right but considering what you have a tag you have a tag and you know we know George is gonna be here that's where we are is there a downside of the tag whether it's 28 million or whatever the number is is it flatly you know what it is and you can still shop and do everything we can do everything we need to do yeah I know I don't want to hear that I mean Joe I I knew this is what they were going to do, Joe. I knew this is what they were going to do. Ocho. Yeah. Ocho. Ocho, he had a hell of a year. But then, can I see you do it again? Let me see you do it again, man. They'll back up the brain stroke for Ocho. I know you want him to go out there. Hey, Joe, don't try me and George Piggins like that. Talk about you want to see it again. Don't do us like that, Joe. Don't do us like that, Joe. If you don't, Joe, if you don't see the value in me and George Piggins after what I did this year, just let me go. Keep the tag to yourself. Use your tag with somebody else. I might not want you. I don't want nobody else to have you. Huh? Nah, y'all know they want him. Y'all know they want him. Of course they do. Yeah, they want him for the load. Yeah, they do. They want him for the load. They do. Yeah. I bet it's all good. It's all good. You know. I know because I know Ocho been hollering about him going to the Raiders and all that. Ocho, we like the little two-head monster we got out here, man. I like it too. Yeah. I like it too, Joe. Why don't we break that up and then put all that pressure on CeeDee Lamb, see what's going to happen there. What pressure? You mess around. CeeDee Lamb would get it done before George got there. CeeDee Lamb been that boy. CeeDee Lamb been that guy. I'm saying, but to have that. He wear the 88. He wear the 88, Joe. CeeDee Lamb wear the 88 for a reason. I understand that. Heavy in the crown. I understand that. I understand that. But to have that other guy with him, Ocho, it's been dynamic. You send pick out there to the Raiders, he going to be pissed off. They going to be doubling him, having somebody over time. He ain't going to be balling like he is in Dallas. Yeah, he is. He going to have a new quarterback. He got a new system. He got a new coach. Man, he going to have a rookie quarterback who going to be out there waffling that ball. Come on now. Ooh. That's how you feel about the number one pick? I'm just saying, bro. You know, they got a good ball. I'm just saying. Look, look, look. I just seen that same quarterback win the national championship. How many quarterbacks come into the league right away and they just putting up these crazy numbers? Man, they got to go through their growing pains. No, Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow. Come on, man. It's an exception, but come on now, Ocho. Hey. Hey. It's cool. It's cool. You see how y'all vouching for the owners, you know, trying to get them. Oh, man. I almost said it. All right. Yeah. Hey, see how the owners fool the fans? Chill, chill, chill, chill. Hey, people so selfish. Long as it's their team, they don't care nothing about the player and him getting what he deserved. But okay. I ain't say that, Ocho. It's all good. Hey, listen. Listen, if you love it, if you like it, I love it. Okay? Cowboys fans, if y'all want, you know, pickings to be there, on the franchise tag because it's cool. Don't worry about it. I'm frustrated. Now I'm mad. Man, you know they're going to put that tag on it. I knew they were going to do that because I understand how valuable he is. They understand how valuable he is. They know what he brings to the table when he's on that field. I get that. I understand that. I know what he can do in this offense. I get it. I understand. but I also know we can get elsewhere you hear me? stay with me everybody that came out in his draft everybody got their money already he done had to wait extra he done had to wait longer some of it is his fault you know as well but hey it is what it is hey these are cards you dealt man you gotta play them homie hey you gotta play them hold on and this is best hand too yeah this is his best hand his next move has to be his best move huh it got to be Bro, you preaching to the choir. You don't. Okay, okay. I just want somebody to scream at. My bad. I know. My bad. But I prepared you for this. I've been trying to prepare you for this. I knew it was coming. I knew it was coming. The fans understood that it was coming. In a sense, some of them are selfish and they're blinded because they like the team up of two number one wide receivers. Yes, I understand that part. but I'm just wanting my brother to get as much as he can and I understand he's not going to be able to do that there and a lot of people won't understand why I've been arguing and fussing about it until this plays out and then you'll understand. You call me all kind of names. I'm telling you what your team and owner are going to do. They finna play games and that's what it's going to be. I guarantee you that. I don't even have no conversation until we get to 35. That's what my antenna perk up. Okay. Now you got my attention. You don't have my undivided attention, but you got my attention. I'm interested. Franchise tag 28. Who finna take that? No, hell no. Man, you better... Man, please. I represent George Pixis myself. If David Moologetta even think about having a conversation, Hey, what's he making? 34. He the third highest paid. Okay. Jetta at 35 and Chase at 40.25. Damn. That's about to get past Puka. Puka definitely finna go past that. JSN might have to wait a year. But Puka and Nakua definitely going past that. Why JSN ain't got to wait, huh? Because he's only in his third year. They don't normally do. They normally do that fourth year. Yeah. They normally do quarterbacks in the third year. If you're a first-round pick, you're a first-round pick because, and the thing is, where you have incentive, Joe, is that they have a fifth-year option that they can pick up, and they get two franchise tags. So theoretically, they got you for seven years. Yeah. Yeah. Damn. That football cut though, boy. It is. But hey, this is the cards that we dealt. We shuffle the cards. These are the cards we dealt. There you go. There you go. This is the biggest night in podcasting. The countdown is on to our 2026 iHeart Podcast Awards.
