Insights
  • AI-generated music lacks the emotional depth and authentic human connection that resonates in songwriting, as demonstrated by comparing AI tools to artists like Noah Kahan
  • Successful creatives benefit from stepping away at peak earning potential to pursue personal interests before returning with unique, authentic projects
  • Prestige television and film succeed when they commit fully to their genre identity rather than trying to satisfy all audiences simultaneously
  • Sports documentaries and docuseries can engage casual viewers by focusing on compelling human narratives alongside technical expertise
  • Rewatching classic films reveals new appreciation for directorial craft and performance nuances missed on initial viewing

Wait, what if I say? And then we start. Hey, everybody, how the heck are you? It's a Monday morning. It's been a while since we've done this. I don't know about you boys, but I've been watching a lot of non required watching, which is, you know, ooh, I had to watch movies for this podcast that I do that people like. Whoa, like is me. Whoa. First world problems. Oh, I got to watch movies. But it is like, come on, man. Like sometimes I just want to hit the thing I want to hit and not have to be like, I got my notebook. I need to analyze fan theories and lethal weapon too. I just want to watch some stuff. So as much as much as we love our audience and when they vote on a movie, yes, we did pick those movies for you to vote on, but it's just my nature to not do what you tell me. And when I get a chance, I'll do it. You know, I feel that to my core. It's like, it's like, oh, man, I can't wait. You know what? I got some really good plans today and I'm going to start by taking out the trash. And if somebody comes up, it's like, hey, will you take out the trash? And I'm like, I don't want to fucking do it. I'm not doing it. No, you know what? I'll no wait. How about that? I'm just going to fucking. I could do it on my own accord, but now you just had to jump in. Well, here we are. Like I said, we like to do our own thing and we give it a, we've always called it a what are you? What are we watching kind of a thing? And it's nice for us each to maybe bring up a few, few of the newer stuff, maybe the older stuff that we've been watching. I'm going to start us off because, you know, we all love music here. And, you know, we all love talking about AI. So the, the leadoff I have for this, for you, Sean, is that I know we've had our conversations about AI and I know that we've had our maybe disagreements and what it can be used for, but there's proof in the world that, you know, like I'll, I'll mess around with Suno and I'll, I'll make a song for my daughter and that's fun and all, but I finally found proof in my brain that will forever remind me that AI will never be able to create certain things. It'll, it'll never be able to conjure up the emotion that certain songwriters are able to do. And, and for a while there, I was like scared. I'm like, Oh shit, like songwriters, man, I don't know if they got a future, but then you, you hear a song by someone. A lot of times it's maybe like a singer, songwriter or folk musician, and you go, how in the world did you possibly put together those words in that chord shape to make me feel this feeling of emotion that I'm feeling right now. And, and one guy that really does that for me lately is a guy called Noah Khan. And he has a, he has a new Netflix documentary out called out of body. And the man, the man is like so real. He's such a real dude. This is a very personal look at his life on this crazy rise that he had coming out of like COVID where he went from just, I'm on TikTok, singing my songs to like selling out Fenway Park in his backyard two nights in a row. And it's a, it's a beautiful, beautiful documentary about what it takes to, to write music and what it takes to go on this rise. And I challenge anybody that, that either likes him, likes music, likes rooting for the underdog. It's, I, I cried multiple times. It's very emotional and it should be. Cause that's how life is. His creative director, Mikey Clavi or Kavi, I think it is, is a fan of the confused breakfast. And I found him, I was like, Hey, I just want you to know that tell everyone in your camp, thank you for making this. Cause it's, it was, it was absolutely beautiful. And I hope everybody will check it out. Cause that man writes stuff that AI will never be able to write. It makes me feel feeling. So it's a beautiful documentary. I think he's got a song with, I think it's Casey Musgraves. I think it is. That I really like. I really like that song. Um, I know our mutual friend, Shane Lunsford, he's sort of got a pseudo connection to him, pseudo. Uh, but I think his other son, um, like knows him or like works with him. Oh, okay. Like knows him personally. Uh, and he's done like hinterland, which is a festival here in, um, Iowa. And yeah, I've heard nothing but great things. And the, the, the shit that I've heard from him is, is so good. And right on the money of just like right from the soul. Oh, just coming up with the words that you're like, I don't, I can't do that. All of them are doing that. Like I, yeah, I, uh, I'll find a way to fit in every single time guys, but apparently, um, he's also really into golf. He, he plays a, he plays a lot of golf and he's like been on, on like interviews. He's like, Oh, I play a lot. I play a lot of, he has a simulator in his house. He shows you his own low golf simulator that he has. It's pretty great. He's like, he's just like, Oh, are you any good? He's like, no, I'm not any good. You say that he's like, he's pretty, he's, he probably is pretty good. But, um, I have a friend who, who's, who's played golf with him and, um, like they know each other through some mutual friends or whatnot. And yeah, I've, again, echoing Sean, I've just heard nothing but good, good things about this guy is just such a nice, nice down to earth person. Just genuine. And then he, then he just goes on stage to thousands of people. So it's multiple, many thousands. This is to say nothing about like my prowess. I'm not trying to glow, but I wrote a riff for our band the other day. And what, when I wrote it, I like just listening back and everything. I'm like, this is, this is really good. But then I put it, we put it to our song and like it made me emotional. Me personally, like, I don't know if it's going to work on anybody else. That'd be awesome. That's not the point. I liked it a lot. And that's, that's where like listening to AI music, you will never, ever get that. Let alone fucking quote unquote, creating AI music. You, you won't get that. You just like, I don't know if you, if you do, there's something missing. In my opinion with you. I don't know. Anyway, it's just a nice reminder to get out and find, find a new favorite band. There's nothing in the world like hearing a song that you've never heard before and just completely obsessing over it and playing it a hundred times in a row. That's, that's just your daily reminder. Go do it. I'm just, I'm just going to put it out there guys. I shared a song with you guys yesterday, I think, from a band called Out In Front. And the song was float. And I, it's the same thing. And I put it out there. I'm like, Sean's going to hate this, but I'm going to do it anyways. And I was like, Mike might like it. But I was like, you know, this is exactly, this is like a perfectly, perfectly crafted song. And they did this and they wrote this song and it's, and it hits the right way. And it reminds me of the music like I kind of used to write to. So again, music does that to you, makes you emotional. It makes you feel something good. AI. Then I say, fuck you AI. I, this had nothing to do with AI. I just wanted to bring it up. I could have been like, hey, saw this really amazing documentary. I'm like, no, I got to, I'm going to make Sean start stabbing his neck first before I tell you what movie I watched. Oh, oh, Mike, you're, you're fluent in, in Suno. Well, I'm, I've been dabbling in, in crackle nuts. Have you tried crackle nuts? Yeah. Oh, I haven't tried that. I heard good things. Oh dude, you got to try out crackle nuts. Crackle nuts is crazy. It's not quite as good as, as like, as, as jean, but it's pretty good. Yeah. The, the tones you can get out of crackle nuts are just out of the world. My favorite part is where it makes me feel like a rock star, even though I did nothing. Yeah. Yeah. That's my favorite part. Who's next? I'll go. Hey Jay. Yeah. Do it. Let me give you something. Making sure I'm sounding good for you. I, look guys, there's been two shows. Well, let me get these out of the way first. A couple of movies that came from like the, the Oscars and all that good jazz F1. I watched F1, not terribly long ago, loved it, ended up watching it like two and a half times, like in a row, because we had a blast watching it. And then I, I did finally catch up and watched, uh, sinners, um, you know, great. I had a blast watching that movie. I don't understand what the, what, what the discussion was about. You know what I mean? It's like, Oh, no, no, no, they just didn't, why did they have to turn into that? It's like, dude, it was fucking fun. It's a lot of fun. It's, it's the modern day equivalent of like, it can never be, it can never be, cause a lot of people came out and were like, this is the greatest movie that has ever been made in the history of movies. And that's a like a what, and then a lot of people came out and said, this is the worst movie I've ever seen in my entire life. And you're like, can't, can it not just be an awesome movie? Like maybe one of the better ones of the year. And then we move on with our life. How about it? Um, I'd love that. And we just, we just let that exist. That's the thing. Uh, just quickly, I guess, I, I, I mean, I'm one that didn't really love it, but, uh, I've seen like, uh, this guy was like someone, I've been sent this real so many times after me to ask me to react to it. And it's just like, they're like content creators or maybe they have a podcast and they're like top five, my top five personal favorite directors. That's what, that's what the thing was my top five. Personal favorite directors. And everyone was like, you're missing scores days. You're a fucking idiot. Oh, and I'm just like, dude, like, I mean, I don't know why I'm surprised, I guess, but like it's, it's just let no one can let anybody like anything. No, you can't have your own opinion, Sean, but we egotistical dick. But listen, we just did our movie franchise bracket and, and rightfully so. There was a lot of uproar about it. But what I don't understand is that like, let's say your comment online was the minute that Rocky was out, I was gone. I turned it off. It's like, I can't believe that's wild to me because like, let's say Rocky played Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters moved on and you turned it off because of Rocky, if Rocky would have won, then someone would have been like, Ghostbusters is out, I'm out. And it's like, there, there's no possible subject in the entire world that we could all agree on that, that the whole world could say this is the number one. And, and clearly we, we do that on purpose because it, it makes good content. But my God, people, just move on with your life. If you, if this isn't what you want to hear. Look, there is a reason why government like actually had a purpose in the past. And it was because you had, you had some people speaking for a majority of people or a minority of people, but they were speaking for a group of people. That's what's wrong now is everybody could just speak for themselves and have their own opinion. And we all just get to listen to it. And we're all wrong, according to everyone else. There we go. It's great. I've got two great comments for you that I did highlight. The new podcasting equipment should be more expensive. There's a new one. And the guy says, these guys make a great case to push for regulation on podcasts. I thought that was pretty funny. That's like the new one. And then one guy actually messaged us. He said, should it make fun of stuttering? I hope this podcast closes down. He thinks we're like a business that can close our doors. Yeah. And he thought that we were making fun of stuttering in my cousin Vinny when in reality we were like, this is the, this is the greatest scene of comedy in this entire year of movies. So thanks. Thanks, weird guy. You mean the comedy scene where someone stutters? Like that the point of the scene is that he's a stuttering lawyer. Stop, stop making fun of it. People have stuttering things that they have to deal with on a daily life. I'm sorry. Other people stop it. AJ. Okay. Well, they do. I just wanted you guys to. The actor that actually played him in the movie, like have a stuttering problem for real. And that's how he drew upon the character. Yeah. That's, that's what made it. That's what made it is such an iconic thing was because he did and he was reluctant to do it, but then he did it and he was like, Oh yeah. Like it worked out perfect. Yeah. Did you have a yes. Sorry guys, we're shutting down our doors. Sean, we're closing. We're always this is closing. It's okay. We can do it from here apparently. We're having a big liquidation sale and. Come get some couches. Everything's 70% off. Everything goes. Come get AJ stuff. Come on down the mattress door. Now I just wanted to make it make it a point that I, I, I do still make it a point to watch some new movies every now and again. I wish I got to go to the movie theater more, but I don't, but I'll start here because. Can I just chime in real quick? F1 was awesome. I just watched it for the first time. I like it had no business being that good. Like it really didn't. It really didn't, but it was so good. And Brad Pitt did like all that driving pretty much, I think. I think he's just trying to battle out like Tom Cruise for like who can do the most wild shit. Extreme things. Yeah. Have you seen that one, Sean? I haven't yet. It's on, it's on max, I think. And it's, I think it's free if you got a subscription. So it's, it's awesome. It's really good, man. I feel like I'm going to put this out there and I'm, you know, Sean hasn't seen it yet, but like if Cliff Booth was in this era, it would be like that Brad Pitt. Yep. Good call. It's a very good call. There you go. If he's typecast as Cliff Booth for the rest of his career, I think it's Cliff Booth for the rest of his career. Fine. Yeah. I don't, I'll watch anything. Sounds good to me. When does that, when does that TV, is it a movie or a TV show that comes out about a movie directed by David Fincher? Uh, I think the sometime this summer, maybe sometime this year, I'm not quite sure. I'm going, I'm going with you. We're going to sit next to each other. Uh, I'll make sure you get the chair that doesn't work and I'll get the good one. I'm going to go, I'm going to go see it. Releases it in theaters. I'm going to go see it in IMAX. Um, cause I bet it'll be on IMAX. Wouldn't it be great to be like, oh, I'm going to go see it on IMAX and you get there and it's just like a normal size, like movie screen, but on the IMAX thing, there's just a bunch of blank space around it. That'd be fun, right? Cause that'd be awesome. How about this? I'll, I'll actually tell you, uh, uh, something I have been watching. Uh, it just came out and it's kind of in line with like the F one stuff because, uh, well Netflix has been doing these series with full swing is back. Um, talking about last year's PGA and golf world, if you will, been watching that. Um, I don't know if they're like doing a slow release or like they only released half of it, but there was only four episodes thus far, which seemed kind of weird because there was like eight and then seven in the other previous seasons. Still a lot of fun and still very interesting to watch. And, um, you know, if it's, I think they just do a good job of it. Mike, you kind of said it about the F one one where it's like, whether you're into it or you're not into it, it can kind of, it can pull you in and it can like, just make you feel like you're still a part of the conversation. You know, so, um, but yeah, it's, it's, it was really good. And it was covering like the rider cup from last year and I got to go play where they played, um, the rider cup and stuff. So that was really neat. Um, but yeah, so I was watching full swing. That's my first thing I'll throw out to you guys. I rewatched Carlitos way, um, because I got these, the Arrow edition, um, 4k, special edition, whatever like comes with a book and a poster, uh, from razzle, dazzle and, um, I had member, I remember liking this movie, uh, quite a bit, but I remember having one problem with it and all of those things reflect of how I feel about it now. Um, I think the only thing that has changed is that like Brian De Palma, seeing him fucking cook brothers in this movie is so awesome. Like this, I've never, somebody brought it up on the in letter box when I was like thinking about my thoughts and somebody said, like, this is a spiritual sequel to Scarface. And I'm like, that's the most accurate thing that I've ever heard. Um, because Brian De Palma did that, you know, it's Al Pacino again. Um, John Legos, Zamo in this is a, is a great sort of like up and coming, like gangster that's been wronged by Carlito. Um, the, the, the train station sequence at the end of this movie. Um, is by far some of the best directing I have ever seen in my entire life. Like I, if, if you're like a passive movie watcher and you're just kind of on your phone while watching movies or whatever, I, I don't see how it's possible to, um, look at your phone while watching the sequence, while this sequence is on, you know, this is not a background sequence. This is just like, holy shit, I don't think movies can get better than this. Um, I was just kind of blown away. I've just, cause I hadn't seen it in so long, but this movie fucking rips. Uh, I love it so much. The only thing that does not work for me is, um, the, uh, he has a relationship with a woman named Gail on this and it kind of drags this movie through the mud. Whenever like their, uh, Carlito and Gail are having scenes together. There's one great scene with them together, but, uh, that's like the only blight on this movie, still like a four star fucking movie. Uh, one of Sean Penn's greatest performances in this. Um, if you haven't seen this or you haven't watched it in a while, I implore you to just like try, try to not try to get distracted while watching this movie. I guess like, cause it's, it's, I think an impossible task because it, it's so good. I can't like, I don't know. I was, it was one of those like, like you said earlier, Mike, if you heard like a new song, that's now your new favorite song. This is a, uh, an old song that you used to love and you haven't heard it in a while and you found something new to love about it. It's fantastic. That's a really interesting topic about maybe that could be a brunch someday of like talking about, uh, characters in movies that like bring the movie down a little bit, you know, like I've changed my tune on days to confuse, but anytime it switched to the nerds in the car, I was, I was like, ah, come on, move on. Uh, think about Molly Shannon and the kids in wet hot American summer. Yeah. Like that, that always, that just goes, uh, so that, that's a like, you know, sometimes that happens in movies. It can still be, those are two of my most favorite movies in the world. And there's still a couple of scenes where you're like, man, I wish they would move on from this. Yeah. Also another cool topic might could be, uh, like movies that you, I mean, I guess that's, it's our, the entire arc of our show, I guess, but like movies that you watched when you were kid and now you reevaluate and how high you've evaluated them now, like Sanlatte legitimately like is a masterpiece to me up there with like the Godfather or whatever it truly is, but I did not know that until I rewatch it as, as an adult, you know, um, and yeah, we should start a podcast. We should talk about stuff like that. Confused breakfast is a great title, I think. Oh, I don't know. It sounds weird. It doesn't, doesn't say anything about movies though. Does that sound kind of tried to you, AJ? Sounds like I tried. Anyway, what I just said was extremely redundant, but go ahead. I do got to bring it up. I finally got to hit play that last night. I think it came out yesterday. Zach Gallifanakis is back in our lives. My friends, he has a show on Netflix called, this is a gardening show. And I challenge you to just, just go to it and, and just watch the, like the trailer that it plays because you'll, you'll fall. You'll just fall into peacefulness and happiness knowing that Zach Gallifanakis is back in your life. And this is everything I wanted it to be. It is, it is like six episodes. They're like 15 minutes long a piece. And I, I don't know if this is true, but I feel like I've heard this, that Zach basically, you know, was a famous comedian. He was making his ways up. He had some fun roles in movies and then he lands the hangover and he does three hangover movies where he is the main star of that. I think he made a ton of money from two and three. And then he pretty much went, eh, I could, I would just want to be with my family. And I think he bought a farm and lives in Canada and he's been spending like the last 15 years, like learning about gardening and, and taking care of the land and foraging. And so he, in typical Gallifanakis fashion is like interviewing little kids about like tomatoes and making jokes to them, but then he's going to meet like a professional and they're teaching him about like foraging for mushrooms and what you should do. And he's making jokes the whole time, but also you're learning. I actually ordered tomato seeds this morning. I am going to start growing tomatoes because I was inspired by the episode about it. I, I can't say enough about, if you just need pure joy in your life, but also like learn a little, dude, I learned so much. Did you know that in order to start an apple, a new, like if you have an apple tree that's like Granny Smith apples, if that apple falls off the tree and you take the seeds out of a Granny Smith apple, plant them and then grow an apple. It will grow a disgusting, not Granny Smith apple. You have to take like a piece of the, of the tree that grew it and like infuse it with another tree and then have them combined into one new tree to then be a Granny Smith again. It's fucking, fucking wild. I love people that farm and grow and you guys know so much more than I do. So it's beautiful. So what you're saying out of this whole diatribe is that Johnny Apple seed is just full of shit. Correct. Yes. Fucking knew it. Another why from our childhood. Dude, I, I'm all about that. I've, but I have to say this. I have seen some stuff online. I think I shared a profile with you. It's like, his name is Bob, I believe. And he's just like this guy who is rustic in every way. He's like the final boss of rustic living. And he just creates the same thing like what it sounds like Zach Alfonakis has been doing now. And he's just, he gardens all his own stuff, bakes all of his own bread. He like makes his own jam. He's like, Oh, well, we've got this, like a bunch of these vegetables. So we're going to make it into a stew. You know, it's like just constantly making that kind of stuff. I, I got so inspired. I was like, I'm trying to make sourdough bread, man. Okay. I'm trying to make sourdough bread guys. I'm in, I'm in my sourdough bread phase. It seems like that's the midlife crisis we all hit. Is this kind of like primitive living? I feel like you're right. The idea of buying a property of land and like growing my own food and having chickens is the exact part of life I've entered. By the way, like was that Zach Alfonakis doing this and like going away for 15 years and doing this? That's what you should do when you're successful and make a bunch of money. Yeah, go away. Find out more at AdvantageChewable.co.uk. Easy to love, easy to protect. Advantage Chewable. Two shows, two different shows. I'll start with this one, though. I haven't finished. I'm not all caught up on it as of right now, but I started it. Because it is Steve Carell and it's Rooster on HBO. And it's basically Steve Carell is an author. Like he's just an author. He's been and he has some pretty popular like novels and books out there. I think one of them might have been like kind of more about his personal life and stuff too. Regardless, he's basically, it's a little bit of like a vertical slice of life, you know what I mean? Where he goes to this college, he does, he speaks to a class about his book. And then like, but his daughter also works at this university as a teacher. And so, and then you have John C. John C. Riley. No, John McGinley. Who's, who's the, who's the. In scrubs. John C. McGinley. Yeah, John C. McGinley. McGinley. OK. He's the dean of this university and like, it's just like watching him try to dodge around like interfering with his daughter's life at this university and also trying to dodge like him being like a, like a guest teacher or something, you know, like an interim teacher of some kind. And I don't know why, but it's so frickin funny because we just get to see Steve Carell kind of back into not a total Michael Scott, but like, he's very unsure of himself. He's very like just trying to do his best, trying to do just some, whatever he can to just do the right thing, but things just don't ever go the right way, you know, that's pretty classic. But you've got our friend, Daniel van Kerk's co-host, Rory. OK, I think of his name. Scoville. Rory Scoville. Thank you. Yeah. Rory Scoville makes some great appearances in this. Kind of a highlight for me, to be completely honest, whatever he pops in, he plays a cop who just happens to run into him when he like looks like he's buying beer for miners and shit. It's just, it's funny, man. It's just a funny little slice of life, like just cut out and you're just kind of watching them go through this and just live life in this little moment, you know? And so it's, it's hard to speak to, but it's a lot of fun. And I would definitely recommend it if you just need to throw something on. I think they've gotten a few extra episodes out now and, but they're still still releasing. So yeah. Rooster. I have got. The drama with Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. You always say it that way. It's so funny. Zendaya. It's so exotic. Yeah. Did you guys see Euphoria with Zendaya? I've seen the first Zendaya. But this movie is directed by Christopher Borgley, who did the Nick Cage A24 movie, Dream Scenario, which I really loved. Very surreal, sort of kind of director. And I've seen this movie, the trailers for this movie come out and I'm like, yeah, it looks interesting. And then I heard he was directing and I'm like, I have to go see it. Legitimately, I think probably one of my favorite new directors. His earlier stuff I need to look into and see if I can get my eyes on. But Dream Scenario and the drama are just pitch-perfect, like dark, weird comedies. And the drama, I... There's a major, major like plot point that doesn't necessarily spoil the movie, but it's way better if you don't know about until you see it. So I'm not... I'm going to skate around that. But basically, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson are getting married. And they're testing out wines and hanging out with their friends, like the maid of honor and the best man. And they're just drinking, having a good time. And they're like, what's the worst thing you've ever done? How bad can it be? That kind of thing. And one of our main characters says something fucking awful. And then the rest of the movie is the other character, the other part of the couple having to deal with that and reconcile that and see what he wants to do. Well, I just spoiled that. But... Fop, dude. It doesn't really matter. But Robert Pattinson has got to go through the rest of this movie kind of like, oh, OK, what do I do? So it was really exciting knowing that there was sort of a turn going into the movie or like a major plot point. And then me thinking of like what it could be like, is it something sexual? Is it something like this or that? And then finding out when you watch the movie, you're like, oh, oh, God. It's the way the movie like goes through this and the anxiety of it. And the way that it's edited is extremely interesting. If you've seen Dream Scenario, there's a shit ton of like dream sequences in the movie and some of them are scary. Some of them are just weird. You like how dreams are. This movie is sort of kind of growing on that motif of this filmmaker, sort of. Like this sort of like, you know, how you think to yourself how a certain situation could go and you think you play your mind place through that. And it probably doesn't end up being like that. But what you imagine is way worse. That kind of thing is so interesting and what he tells it so relatably. And then their performances are fucking fantastic. I think it's I think it's the best things in Zendaya has ever done in my opinion. I think she's fantastic in this movie. Definitely going to be one of my favorites of the year. Did not have a great theater going experience on that. But yeah. What was the name of that again? The drama. The drama. Nice. I definitely was in the mindset of documentaries lately. If anybody out there is a football soccer fan, there's a great documentary about Ronaldinho Gaucho on Netflix. One of the greatest soccer players of all time, very known for his incredible skills on the fit on the pitch, but also partying like a motherfucker outside of the sport. Really great. Like three part series on that. But I, I was very infatuated. I don't know if you guys were about the whole moon shuttle thing that just happened a couple of weeks ago. Katie Perry go back up or something. Katie, Katie Perry went just bless her. Bless her heart for trying something new. You know what I mean? But I had to one night. I don't know why. I think it's because I had to prove to Sean that I do watch this movie every, every couple of weeks, but I popped on interstellar again. And guys, I just love that movie so much. Hey, Mike, I watched the dark night again. I do so tonight. I watched interstellar again and like, I don't, I don't know, man. That movie just like still, I still kind of don't understand what's happening in it, but I just love it so much. I think it's one of McConaughey's best performances he's ever done. I agree with that. Man, just the whole, like you try to put yourself in the shoes. Like I tried to put myself in the shoes of the astronauts that actually just did that 10 day trip and just be like, Holy shit. How could you, how could you do that? And then putting yourself in the shoes of Matt McConaughey. And we just talked about, there's that meme that's going around. That's like interstellar came out 12 years ago. And if, and only seven minutes have passed on the planet, that the water planet. It's like, I can't, I don't understand how is this real life? And I just, I love that movie so much. It's so shocking because of how much time here seems to move so fucking fast. So it's unfathomable thinking about seven, seven minutes of pass on that planet and leaving your, leaving your family behind. Man, it's just, it's just crazy to when he comes back and he's the same age and she's a dying grandma. And it's just like, my God, dude, but I just, I just, I think it's one of his best. I love that movie. Hell yeah. Well played. I'll watch it again tonight. I have not most rewatchable seen it. You still never seen it? Nope. We were supposed to go and see it in IMAX, but you guys didn't want to go. So well, guys, that's not true. Well, yeah, that's, there's actually nothing not, not untrue about what you just said. I don't know what you just said, Mike. Good. That makes perfect sense. Yeah, done. Okay. So listen, maybe we can buy our Marcus theaters, put them out of business and make it a IMAX. Maybe we can do that, buddy. Hey, that sounds great. I'm all for that. I'm all for that. How about I am all for this other HBO series that is out. It might be, I have a tough time watching shows like this because sometimes they just feel like when they get to be feeling like you're, you're literally watching somebody's life, you know, and like the, the, the turns that things take, like the bad things that happen, they don't seem horribly far fetched necessarily. Even though there's a lot of outlandish little things that are happening all around you. So, but I've been really trying to force myself to stay up with this one and it's DTF St. Lewis on HBO. Have either of you guys watched any of this? I have not. No, but I've heard good things. I just haven't hit play on it. Okay. It is. It's, it's just so good. It's a little bit of a, it's, it's kind of a bit of a who done it, but not really. But DTF St. Lewis is starring Jason Bateman. It's got David Harbour, Linda, Linda Cardellini, and then you've got Richard Jenkins, Peter Sarsgard is in this. Chastity Dotson. Let's see. Yeah. I mean, basically, Jason Bateman, David Harbour's characters, like they're, they're like two, like dad's kind of husbands that meet and it starts out with no spoilers or anything. It just kind of starts out with at one point, like Jason Bateman's character Clark says to David Harbour's character Floyd. He says, he's like, Hey, have you ever heard about this stuff? Like it's basically like a Tinder, but it's for married people and who want to just have a little on the side and he's kind of like, Have you ever looked at this on like this? And he's like, No, I never really have. And so he kind of entices Floyd to kind of get into this idea of doing this and then things start to unwind and unfold and, and you kind of start to realize why. Well, then the way that they decided to put this movie together or the show together, they're, they're really bouncing all over the place as far as a timeline. But it makes perfect sense. And it's the way that they end up bringing you back. So that way you can kind of, you can make sense out of like what they were talking about beforehand. Not everything is so crystal clear up front, but then like once they kind of, they have to go back and there's a murder that happens and they're, they're investigating this even and it's just pretty frickin mind blowing, but it is maybe the funniest I have ever seen David Harbor be. I can't, I cannot tell you how funny this guy is. Like there is a moment and I know that this is so, so small guys, but I think you'll appreciate this. There's a moment where he's in his, he's out swimming in this like above ground pool that, you know, you put up every year kind of a thing and he's just kind of enjoying his little slice of life. They're not doing very great, you know, the money as far as it goes, but he's just out there at night and he's talking on the phone and he's just kind of slinking around in the pool. David Harbor is like, like taller than I am, right? He's, he's got to be like six, two, six, three and he's like floating around in probably this like four foot pool and he's talking and then he's like dipping his mustache into the water. Talking to Jason Bateman. You're just like, that's the kind of shit that sets up such a showoff for me. Those little details and the, and the amount of work that they put into creating their, their own characters. Jason Bateman is bored, almost outshined by David Harbor at this point in this show. So I've, I've got to recommend this. Please go watch it. I need some other people to talk to you about it. I'm talking to Bob is watching it too. Do me a solid and watch DTF St. Lewis. It's so, so good. Is Jason Bateman in every new show? Yes. And they all take place in Missouri. Fuck out, dude. So it's all about the Midwest, baby. Fuck out, dude. I have, speaking to TV shows, I've just been watching the survivor. It's fucking awesome. So sick. Love it. Makes me want to watch White Lotus just cause Mike White's on there. So I'll do that someday. But the only other movie I have is because we've had some bad weather recently last week and it just skyrockets my anxiety every time. Can't, I almost can't handle it. But for some reason, I'm extremely fascinated by it. We've talked about this before, you know, we've done twister. Um, our experiences with weather and stuff like that. Um, scared of it, fascinated by it. But, uh, after the storms passed, I was like, okay, I think it's time to watch twisters, the sequel to twister. I thank you for reminding me that I haven't seen it cause I have to see it. I've been thinking about the original twister for like three weeks now. Okay, good. Watch it. It's a big dumb stupid fun. Yeah. It's so dumb. I don't stupid fun. I had such a good time. It's, uh, you know, uh, what's his fucking name and her fucking name, dudes? Yeah, I'll get it. Yeah. Fucking popular man, the goo and Jason Bateman, Leigh and Zendaya leading hot one. Daisy Edgar Jones and Glenn Powell. The whole time they're on a screen. You're just like, please kiss. Holy for the love of God. Just fucking make out already. And, uh, they, they know what they're doing with these gorgeous people on screen talking about fucking God knows what this time is Dorothy. Like it's not like the fucking pop can cells that they send up. It's like a car and it's like a sand material that they've like the science behind it is just like you. Why did you spend so much time on explaining this to us? It does not fucking matter. And you're fine with it. It's, it's like, uh, let the weapon too. What the bad guys, it's who cares? It doesn't matter. We just want to watch these people be beautiful and literally like fight and punch tornadoes. I love that. It knows exactly what it is. I think and it's like I said, it's big dumb, stupid, fun and a great cameo by our friend Paul Shear at the end. Nice. Um, beautiful. The only other TV I've been watching is the fucking Stanley Cup playoffs. My friends has taken over my life. Uh, I can't believe what's happening with the fires right now. It's, um, surreal. Uh, me and Mike were texting back and forth the other night. Uh, he, he said it best with the anxiety of, of watching your team and the playoffs. There's nothing like it. Um, past few years, well, it's been more than that, but few years just casually watching the Stanley Cup playoffs without any, you know, uh, steak into it because my team is not there. It's just been fun. And now it's just anxiety-ridden. They, they beat, uh, Pittsburgh last night as the time of recording this. Uh, and to take a three series lead, um, they look like a Stanley Cup playoff. They say they look like a trophy contender and it's, it's, it's shocking to see, um, after such dredge drug, whatever, like, uh, adjective you want to use of the past. Gigerie. Gigerie. Yeah. Incredible stuff, but I haven't just been watching them. Obviously, I've been watching a lot of the other series as well. And it's the first, the buffalo game. It's, it's crazy, man. The, the, yeah, the, I think their first game, right? Their first game when they came from a hind score, like four goals and four minutes to fucking crazy. Dude, this is what, this is why I love the sport. Um, and it's superior to all others, man. It will forever bother me that Americans just are like that, that's some average fucking dude couldn't just watch one game of a playoff hockey game and just falling low with it. I, it's like they, they're forcing themselves to not pay attention to it because they know it'll become their favorite sport. I don't, I don't understand it. These stories play themselves out too. So perfectly because like even last night, um, Cindy Crosby, you know, he's been the bane of the fliers existence his whole career. He's got the most points against the fliers in history. Um, that's hard to do, um, but apparently easy friend, but a lot of people have points against the flyers. Okay. Hey, a lot of people's points are in there. That emptying that open netter that he missed the bro. I was like, oh man, this series is over. They look cooked. Uh, uh, their, their coach looks fucking cooked. You know, he's coming up with it. They're all coming up with excuses, obviously of like how the fliers are beating such an electric team, Crosby taking a dive and getting the first embellishment penalty of his fucking career last night. That's over. Well deserved. Um, it's about fucking time. That looked like a, a play like LeBron or like some pussy ass basketball player would fucking make dude. Fuck that shit. This series, I'm not, I'm not going to say it because anything could happen, but, um, I'm just so, it's going to take the next game and then you guys will, you guys will get it in five or six. Like it kind of feels like that. Yeah. Uh, I, uh, I've been watching it here and there. And you know, here's the, here's the thing. Harrison wants to watch hockey more than I do. Like, and, and he's probably just using it as a ploy to try to stay up later. Um, but, but it works on me. Dad, my favorite team is Vegas and their game started 10 PM. Yeah, exactly. And, and you know what? We were, we were just watching, uh, was it, was it the mammoth mammoth versus Vegas? Yeah. I mean, we were just watching that. Uh, was that two nights ago? Um, dude, I mean, it's, there is something about it that is just so exciting. And then we're watching the Buffalo game too. And we're getting kind of near the end and it's, it's OT. We're waiting for this goal and it's just, we're playing. I'm like, all right, buddy, we can stay up until the next goal is pl, and then we're done, the game's over. Right. And then we go to bed and it goes for like 15 to almost, almost the whole period. And then it was like, I'm pretty tired and he clicks it off right before they scored the fucking goal. I'm like, dude, I'm invested now. Jesus can't do that to me, man. Like, so it was just really funny, man. Like we're watching him and, but I'm so glad that he wants to because it just reminds me like, man, I do, if you can't get invested into playoff hockey, I don't know what's wrong. Understand what's, what's the matter with you? Yeah, I don't get it. No, I like, I like pro football where it's, you know, it's a four hour broadcast and there's seven total minutes of action. That's, that's my preference here. I'm American. Dude, and like the, the, uh, play by play guys, but the in-between period guys like biz and, uh, they're so good, man. They're, they're fucking awesome and so entertaining and have the, like the best insights and like legitimately interesting insights. And maybe it's that way. If I was like into basketball or football as much as I am hockey, and no, it's not like they could get you into the sport. I feel like, you know what I mean? Like they're so interesting and have such good insights that they could actually make you fall in love with it. Yep. Yeah. Well, hang on. It's a fucking, it's a fucking wild ride, man. And it's, and winning, winning the first round series literally means nothing. That's how fucked up the playoffs are. It means we got the Kings probably next and, uh, they suck. I'll be good. They suck. Well, that's all I got. I guess go, go have lunch, right? Right guys. Okay. Go have lunch up to an O and they're serious. So it's not a big deal. Oh, LA Kings. Yeah. They're the best player ever, but I'm also just like so annoying. Yeah. Cause I don't care. Yeah. Well, when you're that good, nothing else matters. I'm really fast, but I really do nothing with the puck. Except mate, the puck go fast. Okay. Yeah. Okay. I'm poisoning the locker room, but everybody loves me up outside the locker room still somehow. I mean, we're good. We should start a hockey podcast. Oh, let's do it. Well, that's all I got. What about you boys? I see it for me. I think that's everything I have hit us up in the comments. Tell us what you're watching. Let us know what, what you think we should watch what we would specifically tailor it back. Mike would like this. AJ would like this. Sean would like this. Yeah. Give us recommendations. What are you excited for watching? What are you excited for that's coming up? Any movies coming out or any movie or any TV shows coming back around? I mean, there's got to be something out there. Let us know about that too. Oh, oh, oh, Malcolm in the middle, the reboot. I have to fuck. All right guys, we'll see you later. This has been fun. Thank you for being a fan, but stop, please. Yeah. Stop. I mean, maybe it's really good. I don't know if you really like it. No, it's not good. That's probably not. Goodbye. Bye. The quiet when you finally switch off. The calm before the city wakes up. That's where great days begin. The best days start with a good night and a good morning. At Leonardo hotels. If it's important to you, it's important to us.
