Lincoln could hardly believe his eyes. As he found himself flying high in the sky. Just days before, he had the wild idea of creating a giant wing and attaching it to his bike to see if he could fly. And after days of finding materials, building and testing and being laughed at by the neighborhood kids, his invention actually worked. His wind cycle launched him high into the sky, a sudden wind storm pulled him up even higher, until he flew through a giant swirling hole in the clouds. In the wind had gotten so strong that his homemade wing was starting to fall apart. Lincoln was flying high, but he had no idea where he was going. Or how he was going to survive if his wing completely fell apart. Lincoln had clearly been blown far past anything he knew or recognized by this time, because once the clouds finally started to clear, he looked down and saw that he was flying over the ocean. He was far away from land, and that was really saying something because he didn't even live near the ocean. And where was he? And then he heard a loud, rippling sound as he looked up and saw that his homemade wing was completely coming apart, and he could feel himself starting to go down. His bike went into a tailspin as it turned around and around, heading straight toward the water like a meteorite. But then, right when Lincoln thought it was all over, he spotted a small speck of land standing alone in the ocean. Could it be? Yes, it was an island. He used all of the strength he had left to lean his body and turn his wing cycle toward the island. In it kind of worked. He slowly turned and headed steadily towards it. And as his wing kept coming apart, he could feel himself going faster and faster towards the ground. The wind was blowing so fast in his face he couldn't even see anymore. And after it felt like he had been falling forever, he suddenly felt himself crash land onto a giant pillow. Huh? A pillow? What was going on? A pillow was the last thing he ever expected to land on. As he slowly got untangled from his wind cycle, he was trying to figure out what was going on. He heard the voice of what sounded like some kind of surfer dude yelling, whoa dude, that was a killer stunt you just pulled totally radical. Lincoln rolled himself off of the giant pillow and he found himself on what looked like an island that was a giant amusement park or something. He looked around and saw that the island was filled with rides and games and roller coasters and it was even a giant cruise ship he could see off in the distance. Welcome to the blue horizon island little dude. You just landed on the pillow fall ride. Did you just fall from the sky? Yeah, actually Lincoln said, how did you get up that little dude? Wait, you look familiar. Are you the kid everyone's been talking about? What do you mean, Lincoln said? Yeah, totally. You look just like him. You're the kid with the flying bike. You've been on news stations all over the world little dude. Everyone is talking about you. And then the guy pulled out his phone and showed Lincoln a news article with pictures of Lincoln flying through the air on his bike. Apparently Lincoln's wind cycle had made quite a splash on the news and people all over the world were talking about what he had done. Are you hungry little man? Come on over here. I'll show you that the thing. And so Lincoln got a bike to eat and they left him ride some rides. He got to play some games and then he said, hey, can I call my parents? It's fun being out here and all, but I kind of just want to go home. After all, Lincoln never could have imagined he would fly all the way out to the ocean and then land on an island with a huge amusement park. And then the surfer dude said, oh yeah, of course, what am I thinking? Here you go. And so they called his parents and then brought a helicopter out to the island and then flew them all the way back to his house. Then when it got there, his house was surrounded by news crews and cameras who are begging to interview him. But as mom just said, I'm sorry everyone. Lincoln has had quite a long couple of days and he needs a nap. And for the first time in his life, Lincoln couldn't agree more. And when he woke up, Addison demanded to know everything. You better not leave without me next time, she said, already sketching a wind cycle and pink and purple and Nora tuddled over holding her blue e-doll as she looked up at Lincoln and said, can you make a sparkly one for me? And suddenly, they heard the doorbell ring. And so Lincoln went to the door and saw that all the neighborhood kids had gathered around to say, hey, Lincoln, we're sorry we laughed at you about your cool flying bike. Are you going to make another one so we can all have a ride? And Lincoln said, sure. So he got to work building another wind cycle. And by this time, he had learned a lot about how to make them even better so he'd have more control. He even taught his two sisters Addison and Nora how to build them. And in no time, the three of them built wind cycles for the whole family. And with their new wind cycles, they could do flips and fly upside down and fly high or low. And everyone who saw them flying was amazed. And Lincoln flew his wind cycle to school every day. And when he would land in the parking lot, everyone would say, wow, that kid is so cool. And it all happened because one boy had a dream, a pile of old junk, and the courage to try something no one else had ever done. And from that day on, Lincoln wasn't just the kid with the flying bike. He was the kid who reminded everyone that even the craziest ideas can take you somewhere amazing. And if you ever look up in the sky and see a group of bikes soaring past the clouds with a pink one doing loops in a sparkly one twirling behind, you'll know exactly who they are. Lincoln, Addison, and Nora, and their mom and dad, the wind cycle crew off on their next great adventure. Hey there, Storyland fans. If you've been enjoying the podcast, I've got some great news.
