Have you ever said, I would love to present, or you go to an event and you hear a speaker and you say, oh I wish that was me. I'm Sheena Walker, the host of Vocal Dynamics Business School, and today I'm going to be sharing with you an online course I put together for people who say just that. I'd love to present. I don't know where to start. I'm no use. Things are very difficult. I just stay behind the scenes. If that's what you say, then the art and craft of speaking and finding your voice today with confidence and style will certainly help to get you started. and this programme is designed for people who may not see themselves as a speaker but they have something to say perhaps in meetings, perhaps in team briefings, perhaps speaking in the boardroom. So whether you speak in meetings, on camera, on stage or in everyday conversations, your voice deserves to be heard. with clarity, confidence and presence. And this on-demand course will help you to polish your delivery, strengthen your message, but most importantly, help you to develop your unique speaking style as it should be powerful and intentional. So this is, I think there's 13 steps, maybe 15 steps. And these are the basic essential fundamentals that once you master these skills, you can then expand and add different techniques and storytelling. And really, in a very short space of time, you could be an exceptional speaker. So what does it mean to be a different stages speaker, a real speaker? For me, I see speaking as a journey, not a talent you're born with. The stage helps you understand that that hesitant speaking, once you learn these skills, you can become a more confident communicator. you see speakers are not born they're shaped and trained remember that and when people say i just speak off the cuff i just speak in the car or i just speak once i get to wherever i'm going that is amateur it's mediocre it dens your credibility and for the people that now know me quite well and the people I've spoken to. You don't want to be that kind of speaker. So let's look at when you instead think about what I said at the beginning, I'm not very good at speaking or starting a conversation. Shift that to, I'm going to develop my speaking presence step by step. Now that's a brilliant technique when you're learning or training in any new skill when you feel you're not enough. You don't have confidence and you start these thoughts in your head. I'm not good enough. Stop. Just stop. Say 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Now, and do the opposite of what you've said, and you'll start to become much more positive. So what is the essentials of performance speaking? It's where you learn to present yourself with clarity, having a framework, a structure, an impact, whether that's on camera, in meetings, or on stage. An example of that is turning a rambling explanation into a clear three-point message that people will start to remember. Can you imagine how good that might make you feel? So, lesson one is about you, the presenter. It's important. I'm a presenter, although I've now scaled on to performance, more into performance speaking But what that means is you are the message Your energy your tone your authenticity shape how people will receive your words. And being able to speak naturally on Biddy instead of sounding overly scripted or robotic? Wouldn't that be really nice? So you matter, you're important. The second lesson is about when you start to learn these skills, you've got to think about loving your audience. You've got to care about the people you speak to. I care very passionately about the people on my podcast. I want you to be the best. I want you to learn from me. I don't want you to take one year, two years, three years. I want you from week to week, month to month to say, I learned that from Sheena and I'd be really pleased. So lesson two, love your audience. That means great speakers will focus on connecting. with the people, whether it's at work, in your team, or at a meeting. Not perfection, always. But this lesson will teach you to speak to people, not at them. But changing from formal words and speech delivery to being a conversationalist. Being able to story tell that it feels really relatable. And when you start to learn how to tell stories, people will listen to your every word. Lesson three, design your message. Now that means you've got to think about who's your audience. that means you may have to structure your thinking and your design to be particularly clear and memorable and purposeful for the audience. So it might be slightly different if it was IT or digital or going into a company to help them develop teamwork or what it is that you deliver as a service, you'd be using a headline, a core message and a takeaway instead of speaking without direction. A hook, a core message and a takeaway. If you can remember these three areas, that would be brilliant. The next message is looking at alternative ways with style. Looking at, I'm saying lesson five, I've missed one. Alternative ways to deliver with style. That means exploring different speaking styles, storytelling, teaching, who am I, motivational, conversational, finding your signature voice. You might use a personal story to demonstrate a point rather than just giving instructions. just with words. You want to be engaging. Lesson six is managing interruptions and disruptions. What does that mean? Have you ever started to give a presentation during recruitment, a panel interview, or even in your workplace, and you just get started and somebody interrupts you. And it's very difficult to get back on track. So what that means is you must stay composed when facing distractions, questions or unexpected moments. That happens when you're a speaker. An example of that could be handling a tough question and staying calm during a presentation instead of freezing or losing confidence. Of course the whole thing is, I always when I start my presentation, whatever the audience or the topic, I say, As I speak, you may have a question for me and I'll take questions at the end. So write them down and then we'll have a question and answer at the end. That means you less likely to go off track The next lesson I want to share with you is mastering questions and answers And sometimes we get asked questions and you think, now how might I answer that? So it's been able to respond thoughtfully, clearly and confidently under pressure. This is a great way where you can pause and structure your response and answer with authority instead of rushing. I'm encouraging lots of speakers just now to pause and then answer in lots of different situations. It just comes across as being more professional. Lesson 8 is time to practice. And sometimes people don't always do that. What I encourage people to do is, as they're learning each lesson, perhaps before they move on too quickly, is practice it or write it down. And that means that you become more consistent. and when you practice you build confidence and your voice becomes so much stronger as you demonstrate your confidence. An example of that is that I encourage people to record a short daily video for 60 seconds where they can improve their tone, the pace and delivery. And lesson nine is what is next steps? How can you show up? When you're planning to go out to speak in a different setting this stage helps you to apply your speaking skills in real life situations in business planning content thinking about being a leader or personal branding. Perhaps you want to show up more on LinkedIn, on podcasts or record video content. Having that visibility and confidence with a consistent voice in a matter of weeks, you'll see such a huge difference. I've added some bonus sessions onto this program. And one of the things I've done, because I do want you to do well, is executive speech coaching session. Anybody that buys this program, I will give them a one-to-one. And look at once they've gone through the program, or halfway, if they look for help, I give them an hour. And the cost of the programme, which is £299. And this is just because people ask me questions and then added it on to the online program. Ten styles of magnetic storytelling. Wow, can you imagine ten ways to tell a story? And I think this is quite a powerful one. It's learning how to speak confidently on video to attract clients, opportunities and influence. It's creating that short, authoritative video that communicates your expertise quite clearly. the next bonus class is being a podcast host what I'm doing just now and that means developing a confident speaking voice for podcasting interviews and long form conversations and it's about I don't know if you listen to lots of podcasts perhaps you do and sometimes I think the message gets lost. You need to speak with clarity, rhythm and presence and if you're doing a 20 to 30 minute podcast you need to keep the audience engaged. I hope I do keep you engaged because I tell you what I'm going to be speaking about and I give you an overview of what the content is and then I give you this mini masterclass.
