Welcome to our daily rosary meditation. This is day eight of our Novena to Divine Mercy and after the rosary, we're actually going to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet together. It only takes a few minutes. So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day, He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us to stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God. Our first mystery. On Friday, September 13th, 1935, Jesus revealed the chaplet of divine mercy to Faustina. In her diary she writes, I saw an angel, the executor of divine wrath. He was clothed in a dazzling robe. His face gloriously bright, a cloud beneath his feet. From the cloud, bolts of thunder and flashes of lightning were springing into his hands, and from his hand they were going forth, and only then were they striking the earth. When I saw this sign of divine wrath, which was about to strike the earth, I began to implore the angel to hold off for a few moments, and the world would do penance. But my plea was a mere nothing in the face of the divine anger. Just then I saw the most holy trinity, and I was instantly snatched up before the throne of God, and I found myself pleading with God for the world with words heard interiorly. Jesus then revealed the divine mercy chaplet, saying, My daughter, encourage souls to say the chaplet which I have given to you. It pleases me to grant everything they ask of me by saying the chaplet. When hardened sinners say it, I will fill their souls with peace, and the hour of their death will be a happy one. And the terrifying vision of the angel of wrath ended this way. As I was praying the chaplet, I saw the angel's helplessness. He could not carry out the just punishment which was rightly due for sins. Never before had I prayed with such inner power as I did then. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, preface and earns now in the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. All my Jesus. Our second mystery. What great graces I will grant to souls who say this Chaplet. Write down these words, my daughter. Speak to the world about my mercy. Let all mankind recognize my unfathomable mercy. It is a sign for the end times. After it will come the day of justice. Jesus told Faustina that the Chaplet is especially powerful for the dying, saying, at the hour of their death, I defend as my own glory every soul that will say this Chaplet, or when others say it for a dying person. When this Chaplet is said by the bedside of a dying person, unfathomable mercy envelops the soul. One day Faustina poured out her heart to Jesus, saying, I see many souls rushing headlong into the terrible abyss of hell. You see, Jesus, this is the pain that gnaws at my heart and bones. Jesus listened to the outpouring of her heart with gravity and interest, as if he had known nothing about them. And this seemed to make it easier for her to speak to him. And then the Lord said to her, my daughter, those words of your heart are pleasing to me. And by saying the Chaplet, you are bringing humankind closer to me. I guess that means that the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is a very powerful prayer to pray for our loved ones who have fallen away from Christ and the Church. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us to stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earnst now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women. As it was in the beginning as now and never shall be, world without end, Amen. Oh, my Jesus. Forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our third mystery. Jesus taught St. Faustina the formal prayers of the chaplet, but he also told her, Talk to me simply as a friend to a friend. And then he explained to her that it's even more important just to listen in friendship. He said, When you reflect upon what I tell you in the depths of your heart, you profit more than if you had read many books. Oh, if souls would only want to listen to my voice when I am speaking in the depths of their hearts, they would reach the peak of holiness in a short time. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us the stair daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our fifth mystery. This is day eight of our Novena to Divine Mercy. Jesus said, Today bring to me the souls who are in the prison of purgatory and immerse them in the abyss of my mercy. Let the torrents of my blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by me. They are making retribution to my justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgence from the treasury of my church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if only you knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the Spirit and pay off their debt to my justice. Most merciful Jesus, you yourself have said that you desire mercy. So I bring into the abode of your most compassionate hearts the souls in purgatory, souls who are very dear to you. And yet, who must make retribution to your justice? May the streams of blood and water which gushed forth from your heart put out the flames of the purifying fire. That in that place too, the power of your mercy may be praised. From that terrible heat of the cleansing fire rises a plant to your mercy. And they receive comfort, refreshment, relief in the stream of mingled blood and water. Eternal Father, turn your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in purgatory who are enfolded in the most compassionate heart of Jesus. I beg you, by the sorrowful passion of Jesus, your Son, and by all the bitterness with which his most sacred soul was flooded, manifest your mercy to the souls who are under your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way than through the wounds of Jesus, your dearly beloved Son, for we firmly believe that there is no limit to your goodness and compassion. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us to stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl throughout the world seeking the rune of souls. And now we will pray the divine mercy chaplet together. It just takes a few minutes. This is how Jesus taught Saint Faustina to pray the chaplet. He told her first, you will say the Creed, one our Father, and one Hail Mary. But since we already prayed the Creed, we'll begin. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us the stair, our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earn us now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Eternal Father, I offer you the body and blood, soul and divinity of your dearly beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. An atonement for our sins and the whole world.
