Summary

Danny Pellegrino recaps the Traitors Season 4 finale and reunion, discussing Rob's winning gameplay and manipulation of Maura, the chemistry between ice skaters Johnny and Tara, and the Housewives' dramatic reunion performance. He critiques the show's casting, prize pool, and production choices while praising the overall entertainment value.

Insights
  • Celebrity reality TV prize pools ($220K post-tax) are insufficient relative to show viewership and production value, limiting genuine stakes for high-profile contestants
  • Casting balance between dramatic personalities and strategic gamers is critical; flop contestants (Mark, Stephen Coletti) diminish season quality despite strong supporting cast
  • Housewives reunion dynamics (receipts, fighting, drama escalation) don't translate seamlessly to gaming shows; mixing entertainment and strategy creates tonal inconsistency
  • Influencer and brand deal upside matters more to celebrity contestants than prize money, shifting incentive structures away from pure competition
  • Reality TV showmanship (exemplified by Rinna) creates audience uncertainty about authenticity, blurring line between genuine emotion and performance
Trends

. 18+. Allgemeine voorwaarden zijn van toepassing. talking about what I think about it. I'm going to talk about how Maura made it to the end, but she was digmatized. I think she was in love. Oh, we have so much to discuss. What a season of Traitors this was. I honestly, by the end of it, Although I was complaining last week that I got bored after the Housewives left the show and everything, I really did enjoy it by the end. This season finale, it was maybe a little long, a little long in the tooth and the challenge I was kind of bored by. But aside from that, I was like, this was a good season of TV. And I even really loved The Reunion. I thought The Reunion was like a good mix of the drama that we come to know from the Bravo world. And I'm sure that some of the people who love the gaming shows don't maybe always love the Housewife drama that comes to the traitors. but I think it's sort of that special sauce, that mix, because I was watching the reunion, and I was like, yeah, we get some messiness, some drama. The Housewives were maybe doing a little too much in the reunion, which we'll talk about. But overall, I just thought it was a great season of TV. I really loved it. It was like a nice little murder mystery at the beginning of the year to get us through January and February, and now we'll move on. I'm curious to see what they'll do going forward. And I'm most fascinated, I think, with Trader's casting, because I think they do a really good job, and it must be a hard mix of trying to find the right people that bring you dramatics, and then also you need to have some more level-headed gamers. Ultimately, the show had a handful of flops. I mean, we could talk about how Mark was murdered at the beginning of this episode with that head of hair of his. They stuffed his mane into a casket, and the group leaves him in a ring of fire. I don't even know if they lit that much fire, if they lit one candle and Mark's hairspray did the rest of the job for him because he was sitting in that casket and there was fire all around it. Anyway, Mark from Dancing with the Stars, someone like him, I'm like, what did he offer? And then some of the flop people, I thought maybe by the end, they'll start to have more screen time, they'll come alive a little bit more, but that didn't happen with people like Mark or Stephen Coletti or some of the others. So I, at the end, did love Johnny and Tara. They were maybe my favorite part of the end of the show, because even at the reunion, I was watching them, and I felt like there's such genuine love and a deep friendship bond between the two of them. And I don't know if I was just in a happy mood or if I was just feeling kind of sappy, but I was watching them at the reunion when they were filming from Italy or wherever the fuck they were, and I just could see the love between the two of them. It's like they just seem like they have this unshakable, beautiful bond that I think most gay people and straight women, we all have those people in our lives, right? If you're a woman out there, I'm sure you have a gay man in your life that you have a deep friendship bond with. I know I have my girlfriends and it was nice to see. So I love that. And I don't know, people were saying, oh, we need to see them on something else. I'm not really sure they offer, you know, like I would like them on a commentary or maybe they start a podcast or something, but I'm not sure that they really offer much to reality TV, you know? So I don't know that I need Tara and Johnny elsewhere on reality. It was nice to see their friendship, but let's have a podcast or something about it. Maybe we don't need them on Housewives or Big Brother, I don't know, one of these other shows. But it was nice to see that real genuine love. Because even, you know, it's interesting with the show, it's called Traitors. And obviously, these people are getting these deep bonds with people, and some of them are getting it, taking it too personal when they get turned on, and other people are just realizing, no, this is a game. And you see something like Rob and Maura, who I think they do have sexual chemistry between the two of them. I know at the reunion, Andy was asking, like, are you single? Rob said he's not single, unfortunately. But I think Maura wanted it. She wanted to get it. She wanted to wrangle that snake. And I don't blame her for it because he's a gorgeous man. But they developed a bond, and it is hard, I would imagine, in the castle. It's like you get so close to people, but then they betray you. And it's like, well, were we friends or were we not friends? I don't know. But it was the finale. We mentioned Mark being murdered. Then we have the last breakfast and Alan comes in. He calls him the party of five. Did you guys watch party of five? It was like a big party of five head. I even followed it to that spinoff with Jennifer Love Hewitt. Remember, did you guys see there was a spinoff of party of five years ago with Sarah? She left. She left Bailey. That was really actually a big mistake. They spun off Jennifer Love Hewitt and it was like, no, she's supposed to be with Bailey. And that's why people don't watch. But she went off to college or where did she heard in New York or something. And she met up with Jennifer Garner, even watched that spinoff. That's how much I was a Party of Five head. Love that show. I love that. There was a time where it wasn't, am I making this up? It was like 90210. And then Melrose Place would often follow 90210. But I think maybe some at some point Party of Five did. Am I wrong about that? I don't know. 90210 was like the peak pinnacle in our house. Like we all watch. It was like family hour. We all watched 90210, like my mom. My dad didn't watch, but my mom and my brothers, we all sat down and watched 90210 when I was probably seven years old or something, because I was young, watching 90210 with the fam. But that was our show. That and Sopranos. It was like the Pellegrinos were gathering to watch Sopranos and 90210, which was not appropriate for me as a child, but I loved it. Anyway, back to Traders. We have the last breakfast, Maura's shocked to be in the finale. And she talks about how all these men have cheated on her. And I was like, I don't know. How are all these men cheating on Maura? She's so gorgeous. I mean, granted, she didn't play the game. I guess she's sort of... Here's the thing with traitors. It's like, can you say she played it smart? Because she did make it to the end. But she kind of made it to the end as a dummy. And so it's hard to say she's smart, because she just sort of accidentally made it to the end. But she says at this last breakfast, She's like, I do tink Tara as a fateful. And so she tinks that. And I'm happy that she tinks that she's a fateful. But ultimately, she did vote Tara out. But at the breakfast nook, they cheers to Mark. They're like, what a dancer. And I'm like, do we even see him dance? That's a whole other network. Like, I didn't see him doing anything. The only dancing on the show I saw was that conga line. So what do you mean? What are you talking about? Did he dance? And maybe he danced on one of the challenges. And I just fast forward, because you know, I fast forward through the challenges sometimes. I get a little bored. I do. But then, so Alan comes in. He's like, oh, I got my party five. And Johnny and Tara, they think it's Rob and Eric are the traitors. But they need Mara to get him out, or one of them out. Meanwhile, Rob's in that summer of 1990 shirt. And he was doing it for me. I mean, that man just brought a couple t-shirts to the castle. He didn't even have to do much. And he's still, that's what's frustrating about him. It's like everybody else had to bring these elaborate outfits and costumes. Really, they were costumes. And then Rob's just showing up in this shirt he probably bought at a thrift, and it's the hottest one. That's frustrating. But for the challenge, he's got to head up in the helicopter. And Rob and Mara, they fly away in a helicopter. And I thought this was, it seemed unsafe to me. I'm sure they had to sign some releases and there was maybe some insurance situation going on. but I was thinking about like just flying up in that helicopter. Granted, I did jump out of a helicopter once. I know that sounds unlike me, but I did do skydiving when I was, I think like 18 or 19 years old or something with my brother and some friends and scariest thing in my life. And I look back and I'm like, what the fuck was I thinking? Like, why did I jump out of a plane for fun? Like it's nuts, but I did it. I did it. And I remember it was like a rickety plane in Ohio. And then you get up to 10,000 feet and then they sort of teach you, but you're the first time you skydive, you're strapped to somebody. So I had some man on me. Or I was, was I in the, the man was strapped on my back, like a backpack, which normally sounds great, but you're so scared up in the helicopter. It's like, you can't think of anything. I don't know what was happening with that man behind me, but I was just relying on him to save my life because you jump out of the plane. You can't think straight. You take some lesson before you jump out of the plane that they tell you, oh, this is how you're supposed to jump out and everything. It's like, you get up there and you can't think straight. At one point, I was like starting to put my foot out the plane or the helicopter. and the man's like, no, not yet. I'm like, oh, fuck. Whoops. But you're just sort of figuring it out in the helicopter. So when I'm watching Rob and Maura, they didn't even have no one strapped to them. And they were kind of hanging out of it. I was like, what is this? Am I watching Face Off with John Travolta and Nicolas Cage, or am I watching the traitors? Because they're doing stunts. They're doing stunts! Maura, though, suggests Eric's a traitor, and Rob's pissed about that, because up in the helicopter. Now he's got to bamboozle Maura a little bit more. And I do think he was... I do think... I don't think you're not telling me the truth. I do think he wasn't telling her the truth. But I think he's sort of using a flirtation. And he said at the reunion Maura was like, oh, I wasn't flirting with you. And Rob like there was a little flirting And I think he was flirting with her a little bit to bamboozle her And it was a good bamboozlement It the greatest bamboozlement I ever accomplished You do what you got to do to bamboozle in this game. But I was sort of zoning out during this challenge. It felt like forever. They made it seem like Rob at one point when he was jumping out of that plane was like dead in the water. And I was like, I think he's fine, you guys. They went to like a pretend commercial. I watched that on Peacock. But you know how they sort of have commercial breaks, even on the Peacock. And then, I don't know if I pay for the expensive Peacock or what, but there weren't actual commercial breaks. But it fades to black, and then it comes back. And so they did it when Rob jumped out of the helicopter. And they made it seem like it was going to come back from break. And it's like, maybe Rob didn't make it. It's like, well, where did Rob go? What would have happened? Would he drown in the thing? And then we just continued on with the season? So it's like, I love when they try to pretend, oh, we're going to go to commercial break. Maybe Rob has perished in the lake and he's missing. I don't know. But then it does seem like it gets cold in the water. It's some trivia game. I don't know. They had to answer trivia questions with the walkie-talkie. Then afterwards, they go to the pool room. Tara's confident because she says she does good under pressure. She's like, as an ice skater, we have to come alive for four minutes. And when I'm under pressure, that's when I come alive. And I guess I'm sort of fascinated by the Tara and Johnny, the way they talk about their sport and their career. I think that's interesting. Has there been, maybe this is like something that's been done before, but you know how there was that show Cheer? Or don't you think they should do a version of that for ice skating? Because I feel like ice skaters, especially like at that Olympic level, I think they're raised a little nuts. Like maybe that's a generalization. And I apologize to Johnny and Tara if they're listening. But I do feel like to get that level, and they allude to it a bunch of times throughout the series of The Traitors, where it's like alluding to their childhood, where it's like they were in competition and that was what they were focused on and nothing else mattered. And there is something weird about that. For Olympic level, I'm sure for any sport, but for ice skating, I feel like those ice skaters, you always hear stories about like, oh, I didn't go to school. I just spent all my time on the ice. And their parents have to raise you so competitive in that field. And so I don't know, there should be, shouldn't there be like a reality show about like ice moms, like dance moms, but ice moms or something like that. I'd watch shit out of that. Or ice moms and dads. Remember there was on the early days of Bravo, the Bravo days of yesteryear, there was a show called Showbiz Moms and Dads. Anyone out there remember it? And I would like to see ice moms and dads. Johnny also appeared, I hate to speak the name of this, but Johnny also appeared in Bethany's spinoff show where she was ice skating with him. Do you remember? It was like she did a show called Skating. Was it Skating with the Stars or something? It was like a flop show. And on Bethany's spinoff, which I tend to watch like once a year-ish, if you've never watched it, it's haunting. It's about the dissolution of a marriage. It's more haunting than marriage stories. So if you've never watched it at the beginning, It's like it's her spinoff launches with them getting married. And then by the end, they hate each other. And then they went through like a 10 year divorce. But that's neither here nor there. The point is Johnny appeared on that as the ice skater. I don't know. Was he a celebrity ice skater? I don't know. But Maura's sort of at one point in the pool room, I thought Maura was playing Eric and Rob. I don't know. I saw an interview with one of the gamers who was on a previous season. And forgive me, I don't know who it was because it was just a clip that showed up on TikTok. and she was saying she swore on her kid in the game and people thought that was bad, but she said, no, it's a game. Nothing matters in the game and you should. And I thought this was an interesting question to pose to you guys on the podcast. Like if somebody in the castle, if you were on traitors and somebody swore on their kid, would you believe them or would you feel comfortable swearing on your child, on your child's life for the game? Because I sort of understood what she was saying in this interview. Again, just a quick little clip, but I was thinking, yeah, it is a game. And if the goal is to win it, that is a smart gameplay move. And ultimately, you are doing it for your child. Now, is it sort of bad vibes? Yes, of course. But isn't everything in this game bad vibes? I mean, I keep saying, isn't it like bad juju or whatever you want to call it to get in a casket that's surrounded by fires? That seems like a bad omen, or I don't know what the word I'm looking for is. But doesn't that seem bad? So it's like, if you're swearing on your kid, how much worse is that than hop it in a casket on your own for the traitors? You're kind of playing a game and playing a role. I don't know. But I thought, could I do that? I don't think I could do that, because I think I'd have that Catholic guilt of, like, I can't swear on my kid for the prize money. especially because this prize money, I don't think ultimately matters for any of them. The goal for celebrity traders is to get to the end so that they get better brand deals. How much did he make? $200,000? Once it's taxed, I guess reps don't get prize money, but he's still $220,000 taxed. Unfortunately, it's not that much in these days, in these times, because it's also, they have to spend so much time of the year not only doing the show, but they'll make money on the back end on the influencer deals. But I do think that prize pot should be higher. For a show like this, it's like one of the number one shows on, definitely the number one show on Peacock. It's like loosen up the purse strings a little bit, but I've talked about that too many times. And I know people are going to be like, okay, Danny, you've mentioned that a million times, but it's like, come on, Peacock, you're giving out 220K. That's really, I know to a lot of us, that seems like a lot. But for these people and for how much the show brings in, it's not much. It's just not. Okay, so then Johnny's voted out. He hugs Tara. They're cute. They really should do a podcast. That feels like the right... Maybe they already do a podcast. But they seem to me like that. I would like to hear their thoughts on little things, but I don't necessarily need them on another reality show. But I would like to just see their friendship be nice. I would be devastated if they ever broke up their friendship. I just would. Let's take a break here. We're going to come back. We've got so much more to discuss. And thank you to Acast. We'll be right back. We're back. Have mercy. All right, so Johnny's voted out. Post roundtable, Rob and Maura are flirting. They're actually holding hands. you guys i that's flirting right like i don't think that's if it was johnny and tara holding hands like yes that's just friendship but something about rob and mara holding hands it's just more with those hats too are the hats where how many hats did she bring and some of her they get bigger and bigger as the time goes on it's like how did she have room in the suitcase for all them hats i feel like she's got a lot of hats a lot of hat work happening at mara and I think we've talked about this before but doesn't she look like that guess who character you know remember that game guess who the more time went on it's like she looks exactly like that guess who character with the hats anyway then let's see Tara tells Maura to stop being a dumb shit and then they all sit down with Alan and try to pretend they need the money Alan has to interview them and I don't think we need this but Alan's like what would the money mean to you and they all have to say pretend but they're not I'm not saying they wouldn't love the money and it's not nice to get a big check like that. I'm just saying, realistically, they're trying to pretend like this is going to be life-changing money. Like when Rob said all the things he wanted to do with the money, I was like, it ain't going to get you that far. Unfortunately, not in these times. Look out the window, right? Like go to the grocery store and try to figure it out. unfortunately after taxes, uh, and after, I guess Rob didn't have to pay. The rest of them had to do like a wardrobe budget. You know, I'm sure they spent money on the wardrobe. They probably gave him like a small stipend for wardrobe, but some of them went over that stipend, I would believe. And so anyway, let's move on. Uh, but then Alan, Alan, Alan, Alan, some of that, what was, how do we, what the hair? what was happening here alan was sort of dressed in this like blue gay cookie monster outfit at the final round table with a haircut that looked like the woman from nodding hill who freaks out when she meets julie roberts do you know i'm talking about you know i love nodding hill nothing better than nodding hill i'm just a girl standing in front of boy asking him to love her ah you guys that scene julie roberts standing in front or Hugh Grant saying that, it breaks my heart every time in the most beautiful of ways. And I also love, I used to have the Notting Hill on DVD, and I would also watch that scene with the song When You Say Nothing At All, and they sit in that park bench. Julia Roberts, when she climbs that fence, and Hugh Grant then tries to climb, and he's like, whoopsie-daisy, and then they go into this park that they break into, and they sit on this bench, and they read the inscription. It's like something about a couple. I forget what was the inscription. Anyway, that's not the point. Then it plays that song, When You Say Nothing At All. When you say nothing at all. You know that song? I can't sing. Anyway, Notting Hill's so great, but the Hugh Grant, is it his sister? You know, the quirky one who freaks out about Julia Roberts. That's what Alan was dressed like, or the Cynthia doll from Rugrats or something. It was like that hair was kind of going all over the place. I saw somebody on Lion City look like the crazy Barbie. Do you know the Kate McKinnon one? Anyway, they're surrounded by so many candles. It's like a lit up Bath and Body Works I thought it was dangerous I glad Mark was voted out because with his hairspray around all those fucking candles that whole set would have went up in flames because there were so many candles at this point where they were all surrounded And Tara was voted out. Then Eric was voted out. And we're just going quick. It's like Fast and Furious now. It's like everybody's going by the wayside. And they have to reveal that Rob's embarrassed because he had to reveal to Maura that he's actually a traitor. He fooled her. And Maura is legitimately in shock. Like she had tears in her eyes. She's like, are you joking? Are you joking? I think you're joking. And she was just very, I think you're joking. I think you're joking. And she was very clearly thinking he was joking. And unfortunately, he wasn't. She was just waiting for him to be like, JK, just kidding. Got you. I got you. You know, that's what she was waiting to say. Like, I got you. Caught. But unfortunately, he was actually a traitor. So she was waiting. And I don't think he was joking. But she calls him an absolute asshole. She's like, you pinky promised. You're a piece of work. I was so convinced. You've embarrassed me. Don't speak. And ultimately, she had no hard feelings. She said, I think I'm just in shock. I thought I was winning. She thought she was winning. And she thought she was going to split the prize pot with Rob. And unfortunately, she's not because he was taking home all the money. And he played a good game, I think. He did play a good game. And so he's taking home all that money. At the reunion, I think they had said that he was going to buy her a Birkin or something. And as Portia pointed out in the reunion, he can't even buy a shirt. What do you mean he's going to be buying her? Was it a Birkin or a Mays bag or something? Some bag he was going to buy her. And Portia's like, he can't even buy a fucking shirt. So what do you mean he's going to? He's always in them overalls and an undershirt. So I don't think he's going to be going to buy you a bag. But I think she deserves a bag. At the very least, she should get something. Something nice from him. A nice gift. I don't know. Something that can't be taxed. What's the tax amount? Isn't there a certain amount you can gift? I think that should be what he should give her. but then yeah she calls him a snake and she's like you're a fucking snake but well done she's got a good attitude about it and i don't know if if like rinna or somebody else had made it to then i don't think they'd have a good attitude about it i just don't uh but alan and rob i'll end the show by having champagne by the fire pit there's fireworks that i think are cgi uh but rob says people just see me as a dumb hot person, but I won. And then Alan ends the whole show by lighting up that ugly ass, I'm sorry to say ugly ass jacket. I don't mean to say ugly ass, but some of these, I always loved Alan's looks on this show. And I guess they're campy, but this one at the end, it was like a little, it just didn't work. It felt like a little, a bridge too far for me. Did it? Am I crazy? It just felt like, oh, we're just purposely looking nuts now. Like, I always felt like a lot of his looks in previous seasons, they're playing up the theatricality, but they still feel put together and not trolling the audience. This outfit with the light-ups and the hair that was crazy like that, it felt like he was trying to go so above and beyond to look so ugly and in turn be campy about it. But then as an audience member, I just didn't care for that. That's me personally. I just thought, let's bring back some of the class and decorum and play up the theatricality of it. But I don't like, oh, everyone thinks I'm so fashionable. Let me wear the ugliest thing I could find at the store and do my hair like Cynthia from Rugrats. I just didn't care for it. That was my opinion. And then what else happens? We got the reunion. Should we talk about the reunion? Let's take one more quick break, and then we're going to come back and discuss this reunion. and let's get into it, baby. Let's go. We're back. All right, the reunion. Now, Housewives fans know that on the podcast, I usually don't recap the reunions. I very rarely will dip in. Sometimes we'll have a few thoughts here and there. And the same thing with the Traders reunion. I think the reunions are hard to recap because it's just people sort of sitting on a stage. And oftentimes with the Housewives of Union, there are three parts. This was luckily only one part. It was an hour. I felt like it was a tight hour. And as I said at the top of the show, I think there was a good mix of drama and fights. And then also just like learning a little bit about the gameplay. I don't think there was too much revealed. We opened with Andy in the overalls. He like ripped down that cloak and then he was in the overalls showing off them guns. And then he settled into a suit or something and welcomed everybody out to the stage. And he first had Rob out there, talked to Rob. And then they were trickling out all the traitors. They had Candace and Rinna. And it was interesting watching the housewives on this reunion because they were all leaning into the housewife reunion model, which is let's fight with each other. Let's bring receipts. So we had people like Rinna and Portia and Candace. Rinna was sort of quiet at the reunion, to be honest with you. And I don't know. There were so many of them, it maybe would have benefited from being a little longer or two parts. But the Housewives really, I felt like were doing what they do on Housewives reunion. And then what was interesting was Michael Rappaport was also leaning into the Housewives model. Now, Michael Rappaport, I don't know what else to say about that man, other than I'm happy that we're done with this season. I'm happy that we're done with that. You know what I'm saying? Like, I'm happy that we're done with that. Because it was a lot, even at the reunion, I felt like they had edited out a lot of the shenanigans that he was doing at the reunion. Because he was, like, trying to do the Dorinda clip thing. And he was trying to argue back and forth with Portia. But it felt like he was just playing a role and, like, trying to do what Housewives do at a reunion. And it was like, oh, stop it. It was just making me very uncomfortable. And what they left in, to me, felt like they had cut a lot out. So I think he was probably 10 times more obnoxious in that room or on that show than what we saw, because what I was watching, it was like they cut around that man. And anyway, I'm glad we're done with that. Now, we also had a lot of stuff between Colton and Rinna. Now, I was most excited going in about this, because if you've been following Rinna on her book tour, or I've seen like social media clips and stuff where she has done interviews. She was on The View. She's been doing all these interviews because she's got the new book out. And as she's been doing these interviews, people are also asking about the traitors. And her and Colton seem to have this big back and forth. And I was seeing online, it was reported like they unfollowed each other. And then Rinna had, I don't know if it was in a book tour or interview somewhere, but she had said she addressed everything with Colton. And she said Peacock was going to cut out from the reunion when she addressed him and the word hostage and stuff. She's like, they're going to cut it out. And then there was this back and forth about whether or not Colton stormed out of the reunion. And ultimately what we saw, there was no storm outs. And I think that rumor was debunked that they just took a break and then he took a long break or something. But we saw none of that on the reunion. But we did see the moment where she confronted him about the word hostage he used or something. And it was just, I sort of said on the podcast last week, Rinna does, she's great PR for any of these shows she's on, because she makes people want to tune in. She knows how to kind of ride that line about like, this is what's juicy and coming. And this is I'm gonna, I'm gonna deliver a show. And but that to me is what was the downfall on Housewives is like, I have trouble discerning, even as someone who's recapped reality TV for so long, and I've taken notes on all these shows and all that kind of stuff. I have trouble understanding like what's real out of Rena and what's just a show. She's a showman. And she's a good showman. And that's why I think she works so great on reality TV, because you could throw her in and she's going to deliver a performance. But after watching her so long, I'm like, I don't know what's real. Obviously, all housewives kind of play up. I think the trick on a reality show is that you play up your emotions. So if you're a little sad, you have to be bigger on camera. You're more sad about it. Or if you're angry, you're even more angry on camera. And certainly all the housewives do that. But I think there's got to be a nugget of truth in the emotion that they're magnifying. And with Rinna, I tend to not know if there's a nugget of truth there or if it's just made up to put on a show. And I kind of lean towards her not even having a nugget of truth in there. It's just like putting on a show. But ultimately, we did see there was nothing cut from the reunion. But then I'm like watching when I saw her interviews beforehand and alluding to the storm off and this big drama with her and Colton, then watching it. I'm like, well, that didn't really seem like it was there. Maybe they cut around it. But it's like that's where it loses me. It loses me. But I have been seeing clips of her book. I think I might have mentioned this last week on the pod. But I've been hearing clips of her audio book on TikTok, and it sounds actually very juicy. And as someone who's a ghostwriter before and written my own books, I am fascinated by how she was able to get so much in the book. Because the clips and stuff that I've heard have been really juicy about her time on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. And maybe it's because she's off the show now and she doesn't care about burning any of those bridges. But I'm surprised that so much got out in the book about, I don't know, the other Housewives and stuff. Yeah, I don't know. I always say with the Housewife books, the big issue is that the readers, we want the juice on the show. And the trope that a lot of them go into with their Housewife books or with their memoirs is it's like they're telling us about growing up and where they grew up and their kindergarten class and stuff like that. And ultimately the audience doesn really give a shit right We don give a shit We looking for the juice And I think there a difference between like a creative writer and someone who telling their life story in a memoir format And with the housewives, they're telling their life story. But like most of us, we only want to skip ahead to when they join the housewives or when they have a project we're interested in. And too many of the housewives books, they lean into that of like, oh, I'm going to tell everything leading up to that. And it just, we don't care. We just want to hear the juice about the show. And so all the clips that I've seen of Rinna's book, it seems like she's actually getting into the nitty gritty of like her relationship with LVP and, and Garcelle. And it almost, I don't know. I've been let down by so many housewife books in the past. I don't know if I'm going to read it, but it almost makes me want to read it. I did enjoy the Sheena Shea book. I did. I know. And I felt like she did a good job of throwing everyone under the bus. And that's probably why she's no longer employed by the network. But it was good for my own entertainment. The other issue with all those Bravo Liberty books is that most of the audience, we just go on Us Weekly or whatever, and there's always an article that's like, the biggest revelations from this Bravo Liberty's book. And so we just go on there to see the revelations, and then you don't even need to read the book. Because it's not like you're reading the book and you're getting some great prose. You're just looking for the dirt. anyway if anyone's read somebody tell me I haven't heard from anyone directly like somebody tell me if you've read the Rinna book let me know if it's good or not if I need to check it out because we'll check it out because maybe I do need to I don't know what was he talking about before then Trader's Reunion the outfits did we talk about the outfits everyone looked nice there was also something that I thought was cut between Ron and Rod and Dorinda didn't Ron say in an interview he was like confronting Dorinda about something that happened, then we never saw anything about that. What happened there? Then there was also some people at the reunion where I was like, I don't even remember them being on the show. I don't recall them. I don't remember them in a challenge. I don't remember them at a roundtable. Even Ian, I think Ian, was he voted off first? There was a lot of stuff with him. And when we're getting into the nitty gritty with Ian, I'm like, I don't give a flying fuck about that because that was the first episode. I don't even remember any of that. So I felt like they spent way too much time on that. We could have gotten the Ron and Dorinda stuff. instead of that. Portia really came alive. Even though Portia was, she was the first one at the round table voted out. She really came alive. I also thought Donna Kelsey, she was in top form, meaning like she wasn't afraid of anybody. Like she was kind of giving some sass to everybody. And I liked that. They kept calling her mama. And Mama Kelsey also revealed that Taylor Swift was watching the show. That's right. That's right. The Swift family was watching. and that is fascinating to me. I need to know what Taylor thinks about all the Housewives. I wish Taylor would come on the podcast and just give me her thoughts about everybody on Traders and Housewives. Because I feel like if you watch Traders, aren't you going to be interested in diving into the Housewives a little bit, into the Housewives lore? And we know a lot of these celebrities watch. They watch these shows. They watch the Housewives. I met Selena Gomez once, and she was talking all about Vanderpump Rules. She was into it. She was into it. So we know these people. They watch them, and I need to know their thoughts on them. I think that's one of the things we love about Rihanna is that she watches. And unfortunately, we very rarely get glimpses into their thoughts on them. So it's like, if we were to get Rihanna and Taylor Swift on a podcast to just talk about these people, it would be heaven. And not to like, I don't want to hear about anything else. You know what I'm saying? I don't want them to go on a podcast and like promote a project. I want them an hour, just like, just only Housewives thoughts or traders thoughts. That's what I need from them. And if Donna and Taylor Swift could get on a podcast for an hour and just talk about traders like that, that we would eat that shit up. We would. And then I don't know, they could release like at the end of maybe, maybe there's like a promo at the end of the hour where it's like, she's releasing a new variant of Opalite or something like that. You know what I'm saying? Like that, get us all on board and, and, um, That could be how she benefits from it. But otherwise, I just need an hour with her and Donna talking about traitors. Because if Donna was not afraid to give sass to anybody on that stage, and I liked it, I was like, put her on Housewives. I don't know where she's. Is she in Ohio? She's from an Ohio girl. She's got that no-nonsense Ohio attitude that I recognize, that I feel in my soul and bones. She reminds me of all the moms I grew up with, hanging out with, had a sleepover of my friends and getting breakfast with the moms of the house. That's what I used to do. and so she looks like, she reminds me of someone, a mom, that I would have went to a friend's house for a sleepover, and then I would have gotten up early and hung out with the mom. She maybe would have poured me some cereal and had a cigarette while she told me her life's troubles. That would have been Kelsey and I. And I think I'm sort of close in age to Travis, and so maybe that could have happened. You were from Ohio. It's like in another world. I think I was friends with them. You know, that's, that's my truth. That is, I think they bought, there were these rumors that Taylor and Travis bought a house in Chagrin Falls, which is right where I, near where I grew up. Uh, and it's a beautiful area. It's a beautiful area. Okay. What were we talking about? So Donna did good on the reunion. What else? Uh, I don't know if I, that's about all I got on the reunion. Only thoughts I got on the reunion. It was good. I thought this season was great by the end I was tired and I was thinking, I'm going to miss this. I'm going to miss this. And I think coming soon to NBC, they kept telling us on this, Peacock kept saying, coming soon to NBC, there's a new traders where I think they're calling it like the civilian version. So it's not celebrities. It's just going to be anybody who wants to apply. And I'm excited to watch that. But I don't know that I can do. We'll see. I don't know that I'm one of these people with the traders where I could do like multiple cycles a year. Like I can do the one, I can dive in in January and February, but I don't know if it's going to be a year long commitment for me. And I worry about the show that they, if they try to milk it too much and it's like maybe keep it a special thing and do it once a year. The civilian version I am interested in seeing though. So I will, I will tiptoe into that. But I'm just not sure that we need a million incarnations of it. I know a lot of people will do the UK one or these other country ones. Even my husband, he watches one of them. I think the UK one, as well as the US one. But I don't know if I could do many of them. But I love this time of year. I thought it was just a fun mystery whodunit. And I had a great time. And I'm happy to move on. And I probably won't remember any of this moving forward. I don't know that the show was going to stick with me. in the way that other shows do, but I really had a great time. And so bravo to them. And oh, the other thing I want to say about The Reunion, I did like how the style of like having them kind of like on a off side stage, like the people they weren't really talking to. And then they would show us these little, on the lower part of the screen, they would show them reacting to the people who were on stage. And then they'd call out new people. I thought that was really good. Oh, Candace, you know, Candace was kind of flopping in The Reunion for me too. I do want to mention that. She was trying to tell Rob, oh, he did this wrong or that wrong. And I don't know. She just was sort of flopping to me. Even her exchange with Portia, Candice was sort of flopping. And it was unfortunate because I was loving Candice so much throughout the season of Traitors. And I was thinking, we need Candice back on Potomac. But then I thought she had kind of a bad reunion performance. I'm like, oh, actually, maybe we don't need her back on Potomac. Now, Beverly Hills could use Rinna, but she ain't going back. I think she said in an interview, if they gave her $5 million, which they would never, obviously. They don't have $5 million for the whole season, let alone to give Rinna. But she ain't coming back to house size. Never say never, though. Never say never. Because in a couple of years, if she don't have nothing else going on, she might be calling up Bravo and saying, Hey, put me in coach. I'm ready to feud with Splitz Richards or whoever the fuck is left on that show. Anyway, moving on. Love you all so much for listening. Have a great weekend if you're listening to this on Friday as it's released. And we'll be back next week. We're covering on the show. If you're not watching Summer House, I'm covering Summer House on the podcast. And so maybe dive in and join us for those recaps if you've just been joining me for the Traders Recaps and you've had a good time. And then also subscribe to the podcast wherever you listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever to get all the new episodes. But I do one new episode a week and I'm currently covering Summer House. But then as soon as Summer House is over, we'll be diving into a new show. I don't know what'll be on, but we're going to be talking about everything that's happening in the Bravo world. Also, I want to say quickly, as I mentioned the Bravo world, Mary Cosby's son, unfortunately, Robert, has passed and just want to send love to the Bravo world. And it is just so tragic and everything. And so my heart goes out to Mary and all family and friends and just may he rest in peace. And so, but tune in. I don't know. That's a hard shift. Hard left. Tune in, though, next week for a Summer House recap. And then I'll leave you with this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Stupid looking ha-
