Summary

Bobby Bones and his co-hosts Eddie and Brandon Ray vote on the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees, debating the merits of 17 artists across multiple genres. After eliminating candidates like Jeff Buckley, Excess, Joy Division, and Pink, they ultimately select seven inductees: The Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Phil Collins, Lauryn Hill, Oasis, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan.

Insights
  • Voting criteria extend beyond commercial success to cultural impact, longevity, and artistic innovation, with panelists weighing relevance and timeliness of induction
  • Personal connection and generational experience significantly influence Hall of Fame voting decisions, with voters favoring artists from their formative years
  • Contemporary relevance can paradoxically disqualify artists (Pink example), as voters prefer to honor legacy acts while allowing still-active artists more time to accumulate historical significance
  • Genre boundaries for 'Rock & Roll Hall of Fame' have expanded to include pop, hip-hop, and R&B, reflecting the institution's broader definition of rock music
  • Incomplete knowledge of nominees' catalogs doesn't prevent elimination votes, suggesting voters prioritize gut instinct and cultural awareness over comprehensive discography familiarity
Trends
Hall of Fame voting increasingly values cultural advocacy and social impact beyond musical outputNostalgia-driven voting patterns favor artists from 1980s-1990s, indicating generational bias in selection committeesHip-hop and rap artists gaining legitimacy in traditionally rock-focused institutionsInternational artist recognition (Shakira, Oasis) competing with domestic legacy acts for limited induction slotsDebate over whether 'Rock & Roll Hall of Fame' terminology accurately reflects the institution's genre-agnostic voting practicesArtist longevity and continued relevance becoming disqualifying factors rather than qualifying ones in some voting scenariosDocumentary and media presence (Flight 666 for Iron Maiden) influencing Hall of Fame perception and voting decisions

This is an I Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey, welcome to episode 589. And so we're going to vote for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If you've been listening to the Bobby Cass for years, you know that for some reason they think I should have a vote and who makes the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And every year, we stupidly get together as a group, me and all my buddies, and make our picks, and then submit it as mine, which I am not sure is legal. So it's me, Eddie, and Brandon Ray. You're going to hear all about it. And so here we are going through all of the people that are nominated for this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and then us, picking who we think it should be. All right, welcome to the Bobby Cass for where we are going to vote for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Now, the situation is I am a voting member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame people who vote. That's not the actual name of it, but I feel like it is. And instead of me just voting for the past few years, I've brought in my friends to help me pick. And we will nominate, I think it's seven people. So I'd like to introduce people. First of all, he's produced songs for the Beatles. He was also part of Journey for the. Hello. Nobody. He's a music producer, singer, songwriter, artist, Brandon Ray. And also the other half of my comedy band, The Raging Idiots. And he can play a barcord, which I think is so cool. Yeah, an F. And yes. I'm really excited. I'd go with that. That's Eddie. And I'm Bobby. And let's vote. So here's what it says. As you make your ballot selections, please consider the following. Excellence. Has the artist demonstrated exceptional artistic quality vision and execution? Innovation. Has the artist advanced the art through you know, note cards? I don't know. Excellence. I'm on that note. You don't take notes at anything in your life. No, this is important, though. I'll write this down. This is the Hall of Fame. Influence and impact. So how this will work is Eddie and I will debate it out. If we do not come to a conclusion, Brandon, you will be the final vote. OK. Now, we're supposed to nominate, I believe, seven. OK. What I'm going to do first is go through all the selections. And you guys can just give me a line about what you think about the people. Perfect. Black Crows is one of the people up for nominee. Eddie Black Crows, what was the mind? You want to line a classic? I mean, this is a classic rock legends. So yes. Well, we're not going yes or no. No, I'm saying classic rock legends with massive hits. Brandon? I'm going to echo what Eddie just said. Yes. I'm not. I don't think they're classic rock legends. I think they were contemporary with a classic rock sound. Oh, dang. OK. Wow. One up to us. That's one part of the voting. No, I just think when they existed, it was new. But it was cool because it also had very old elements to it. But they still made it new and they did have some jam. So good point. Yeah, and I guess we were around when they were doing it. Around? We were buying their music. No, we were young, though. I mean, I remember some of the albums. I was probably in middle school. When she talks to angels, came out? That's probably what, 12? Right. Huge influences on all of us, we've said. Now she talks to angels. That song came out. She talks to angels. I'm going to guess 93. What year? Oh, 89. Well, still, I remember it, 90. 90, yeah. See, man? We're young. Also, they had a song that was a cover that I didn't know was a cover until I got older. Too hard to handle now. Yeah. The month that's not the hand of the. Which is a jam, obviously. OK, so they're black crows. And if we want, if anybody goes eliminated, let me know. You can't let me. We won't say yes yet. But if you think there's no way they should be in. We can say that now. You can say that now. Because there's two, four, six, eight, four, three, four, ten, twelve, thirteen, fourteen. There's like 17. Thanks. Jeff Buckley. Definitely not eliminated. Now, Jeff Buckley to me has one song. And it's great. And it's a letter. And it's even a cover song. Yes. And he had a good album. And by the way, heck of a documentary. Great documentary. I hope people can watch that too. I just don't. I don't think just because you're dead, it should help you. But you can't do anything else. That's right. So if you were alive, he would have made more music. You don't know that. Well, you don't know. If there's a lot of one hit wonders, the logic of a one hit wonder is dead then because they kept living after they had a great song. That's not fair, though. Those one hit wonders, they had the chance. Jeff Buckley didn't have the chance. Lou Bega, momo number five. He had the chance. Jam. OK, Jeff Buckley. So what I'll just say quickly about Jeff Buckley is I do really love his sound and I loved when his sound was because it was so it was the juxtaposition of him and all that other music that was happening at the time. Sure. Completely different. Yeah. And he was very avant-garde, acoustic or electric. Yeah. It was just minimal. Can I go on? Guard is a great way to put his music. Thank you very much. Very minimal. Yes. The one man who played the gold. Simba, Simba, Gold, Gold, Gold, Gold. And I worked on American Idol for a bunch of years. Everybody did that song. Really? Maybe you hate it. Well, you know why they did it because Jeff Buckley's voice was unbelievable. So to them, they're feeling if I cover a Jeff Buckley song, they're going to see my voice as something unbelievable. True. I almost want to say eliminated. I won't. Don't do it. I just don't think he has the body award. Are we doing the tiebreaker now or what? He can for elimination. Oh, you can say eliminated if you want to. Eliminated. OK. I'll second it. No, Jeff Buckley. You guys suck. I think his work, I loved it. I just don't think it's enough. You need to listen to Grace the album. You need to listen to two people that are talking to say eliminated because we've eliminated it. Next up, Mariah Carey. One of the greatest pop stars to ever exist. That's my line. Yes. Yes. I mean, huge name. Who doesn't know Mariah Carey? Who doesn't know Mariah Carey? Like, everyone knows Mariah Carey. Oh, then you didn't love Mariah Carey then? No, I didn't. But at Christmas time, he's got one of the biggest Christmas songs ever. When I was 10 years old, I wrote a letter to Mariah Carey. This is 100% true. Put a picture of myself holding a present like Merry Christmas to you. You're a huge inspiration. Fantasy the album is incredible. No response. Still to this day. No, keep waiting. Still. She's getting it right. No, no, no, no. I think she hasn't gotten around to it yet. That's true. The first two CDs I ever bought, not tapes, CDs, the first two CDs I ever bought were ACDC Ballbreaker and Mariah Carey. Stop. Stop, Brandon. No, no, no, no, no, no. Those were literally two of my favorite CDs, too. Oh, but those weren't the first two you bought. No, no, no. It was like ACDC Ballbreaker and Mariah Carey Fantasy. Were the two. Yeah. And then I wrote her a letter. And she was like, why is this Brandon guy mailing me letters? And I was like, trust me, later in life. So OK, Mariah Carey's in. I don't think we could possibly eliminate her. We need two eliminations to that. Phil Collins. Oh, man. Phil Collins. And I'm going from non-note. So if I'm wrong about stuff, I'm happy to admit in a later episode, Phil Collins was the drummer of Genesis. Correct. They looked for a lead singer. And it was almost like Dick Cheney when it was like Dick Cheney's like, I'm going to find a vice president. I guess it's me. You know, that's how he ended up being the vice president. So what was Peter Gabriel? He was a singer. OK. He was a lead singer. And so Peter Gabriel goes and does his own thing, leaves the band. Phil Collins is just like, I got microphones down. It's so crazy to sing and play drums. It is. Because when I play drums, I can't sing. And when I sing, I can't play drums. But I can't sing or play drums, so it's really a mix. It's like the patting your head and rubbing your stomach. You know, like it really is. Phil Collins is awesome. Yeah, he's awesome. And that's almost to me going, he should just be one of the seven. We can get back around to it. But his sound to me, nothing personifies the cool 80s. Because I think there's lame 80s. There's hair band 80s, yeah. I think there's Michael Jackson 80s. And I think there's cool 80s. Phil Collins to me is cool 80s. Yeah, I mean, Phil Collins is, I mean, I'm surprised he's not in the hall of fame already. I'll say that. Like I would have thought I would have bet $100 that he was already in there. Tarzan, do you have to say it? Just going to say. You'll be in my heart. You'll be in my heart. And then imagine this, so watch this. You'll be in my heart. He's doing it himself. OK, still in. We've only limited one so far. Melissa Etheridge. She has awesome. That's not even the biggest jam to me. Come. Come to my window. What's lumb to my window? I thought it was look through my window. No, that's what you do. Come to my window. I'm not going to eliminate her because I think she was big, like Lilith Fair, which very much more than just songs. Huge. I'm not going to eliminate her. It's going to be tough for her to break top seven for me. I think she was a spokesperson for lesbians all around the world. Absolutely. I don't know if she was, but she was for them. She is a tireless advocate for LGBTQ plus rights. Breast cancer awareness. Oh, are you looking for me to back you up after you said that? Yeah, thank you because I know. I was like, I can't. No, you were right. No, she didn't. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think she has you picked up a guitar, day, jade. I'm not going to. I'm going to I'm going to eliminate her. OK, I'll eliminate her too. I like her. I'm glad you did because I was thinking it. Yeah. But if I was alone, I'm not going to be alone on that island. Yeah. I'm an eliminator. She did have some jams. I do understand her cultural significance. Yes. It's going to be a tough year to get in. Lauren Hill. Lauren Hill, man. I love that she shows up at her own concerts four hours late. You know what? That was recent. I think we should consider that. I think so. And her body of work is that she never gets to her shows on time. I'm surprised by that because you are a person that loves timeliness. Yeah, and if I was there, I'd be mad. But it's just hilarious that she starts the show at like 1230. Can you award tardiness, though? You know, for Rockin' on Hall of Fame, what's more rock and roll than not being on time? That's a really good point. So this is Lauren Hill, not Fuji's Lauren Hill as a solo artist. Correct. Lauren Hill, X Factor. Lauren Hill, DuWaub. Sister Act. Girl, yeah. You know you better watch out. Lump to my window and then watch it. Lump to my window is not a thing. I just did that. You make fun of me because it's looking through my window. But I don't think we can consider that as part of the Fuji's. Although I'm telling you, that album, The Miseducation of Lauren Hill. That's awesome. So breakthrough, so amazing that even like me, I bought that record. I'm going to leave it in for now. The impact, the cultural impact is there. That's one of the greatest. I think it's one of the group, whatever, the 250 greatest albums of all time. I think that should be considered in this. Agreed. So we won't kick it out. We interrupt this interview to bring you a message from our sponsor. And we're back on The Bobby Cast. Billy Idol. Wedding singer. Yes, he was an actor and wedding singer. He's just a little before me. This is tough because not only was he before me. You know we talk about cheesy 80s. Yes. He fits in that for me. He was cheesy 80s. But that doesn't mean he's not awesome. He does have white wedding and rebel yell. Oh yeah. And the rebel yell. She yell mo, mo, mo. And he had the Elvis lip too. I don't know if. I met him. You met Billy Idol? Last year. Where? Backstage at a festival. He's nice. That's cool. Yeah, he's nice. Well, that's good. I mean, I think that alone should. Get him in? Yeah, consider him at least. And he had a nice day from. Monimony. Oh, then he had a. Monimony. It's nice to start again. Man, he had a bunch of songs. That's why wedding. That is why wedding. Well, then he had that one twice on line. Billy Idol. We going to leave him in? I would leave him in. To me, that's a again, classic rock legend. OK, in excess. I don't know much about excess. Other than the guy killed himself. He didn't. Maybe didn't mean to. He was trying to get off. Existiation. Yeah, that's where you'd say it like that. Is that not what it is? But I wouldn't have said it like that. Yeah, that's just a weird way to even say it. It just feels creepy. It does feel weird, actually. Once I said it, I was like, that's kind of weird. Yeah, I'm not one of them. Yeah, new wave, but then like 90s. And to me, I just want you to know. What is that song? Don't know. I'll do it again. I want you to know. OK, yeah. Do you know that one written? No, I don't. Because it's like, don't make me look up in excess song. But don't, but don't, but don't. Everything is the Tarzan song. It goes, you gotta stop right now. I need you girl. Oh, I want you to know. OK. OK, I'll bring you there. I know. Yeah, OK, I know that one. Oh, I need you tonight. That's what it is. Is that the same song? I don't know. But I do know that. I don't know. OK, please, come home. So that's in excess, OK. I'm going to eliminate them. Although I enjoyed the bit we just did. But I bet they're huge. And I bet they probably deserve to be in there. They just don't know them. Did they have the Rockstar Supernova show looking for a lead singer? For a new lead singer. That's right, Brandon. Fun fact, Brandon won that. Yeah. Yeah. And then he just quit. He quit. Dark times. Yeah, all he knew was, need you. And they were like, nah, man, you got a lot more. Oh, oh, we know. A new sensation. I know that one. New sensation. Right now. Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't. Don't, man. Want you to know. What else? Get four top 10 singles in the US. That's not enough for Rockin' or Hall of Fame. As far as our voting. Influence and impact, what do you think? I don't think so. So eliminate, eliminate. Iron Maiden. That's not for me. It's not definitely not for me either. But I remember people would call me Eddie, the Iron Maiden. Because I think the Iron Maiden mascot, his name was Eddie. I didn't know that. Yeah, yeah. I think, I think you're right. Which I think was the guy, you know, the skeleton and all the artwork. But no, I couldn't, I couldn't name you one Iron Maiden song. The only thing about Iron Maiden that I know, and Brandon's much more, Brandon's saying background vocals on the new, not Iron Maiden album, but the new Megadeth album. Megadeth. Who's opening their tour this year? Opening the Iron Maiden. Oh, then you better say yes, because you'll get beat up. Yeah, totally awesome. They kind of set the standard for what like metal should look like and like beat, like the whole thing. Yeah. It's not for me. Brandon, Linda, something here. Big song run for the Hills. If you if you hear it, you'd be like, yeah, I know that song. OK, give us a little bit. Does it go? Watch it now. Move over the Hills. Yeah. Does it have harmonizing guitars? Like is that kind of their thing? They do a ton of that stuff. Their cultural impact globally. There is a there's a documentary called, it's called Flight 666. Totally appropriate. Their lead singer is a pilot. And he flies their 747 jet all over the world. No way. Stuff. If you were the pilot of our rage and idiots playing, that is so weird. It's for real. But everywhere they go, I'm I'm telling you, soccer stadiums, bro. They fill up soccer stadiums all over the world. Or they do America, too. They still they do America. I think it's more arena type stuff. Got it. But you know, so they aren't American. They're not. British. I think British, right? British. Yeah. Yeah. You know, Edward McCain drives his own tour bus. That's cool. Does he really? Well, I'll be. Get out. I'll be. Oh crap. Yeah. Joy Division, New Order. Not my vibe. Man. Electronic is that this is I can't act like that I'm such a fan to vote for them because there are other good ones. I'm going to be ignorant on Joy Division. I listened to some before I came in. It's not my thing. I can't vote for them. The same. I eliminate them. I would eliminate them, too. I mean, my brother were here. He would probably be able to speak on their music and how awesome they are. But I mean, I don't know anything about them. You? I just know the shirt. What shirt? The one everybody wears now. Joy Division shirt. And is it rock and roll? Well, it doesn't matter. I know that. Rock and roll. Is it Rock and roll? All the fame is just contemporary music. Is Mariah Carey Rock and Roll? Yeah, dude. She did make a. What does she only made the secret rock album? And it never came out? Oh, well, I mean, it never came out. Yeah. Yeah. That's a whole other debate about rock and roll. Yes. They do fight about it. But I think if it's contemporary music that counts as rock and roll. That's a good point. No, I like it. You don't like it, but that's OK. I expect I understand why you say that. So are we eliminating Joy Division? I am. Yeah, I would eliminate. OK. New edition. Do I don't know who they are? Who's new edition? You don't know new edition? No, no, no. Sing me a song of theirs. Which one would you like? Bobby Brown. Pick one. Oh, it's Bobby Brown. Yeah, man. Oh, like, like, who want to cool it now? Cool. I can't talk for anything. Cool it now. Cool. You know how cool it now? No. Cool. Yeah. That cool it now was a jam. Telephone man was a jam. So Bobby Brown was a big artist alone. But after outside of that. OK, see. Johnny Gil was in. So you don't. OK, so because of your lack of knowledge, you can eliminate it. I will leave them in for now. I would say eliminate based on that. I just don't want to act like, oh, yeah, they definitely are being what I know nothing about. I like new edition growing up. But you can eliminate. I'm not choosing to. But if you do, we're gone. Are we at that stage yet? You can eliminate it. It's just to eliminate. We're just eliminating only. Are you eliminating? I'm going to eliminate eliminating. OK, good. Haters. OK. All right. Oasis. I get to put them in. Oasis? Wasn't Oasis in the last year or two? Yeah, they make it. It doesn't really matter. They just put them in the Hall of Fame. I just don't want them mad at me. Build a wing. You know? Yeah. I don't know what else we need to say about Oasis, except they hit us right in our right time of our age, of our life. Yes, sure. Like what's the story of Morning Glory? Yes. When Wonderwall came out, it's like, what is that sound? Right. I love it. All. My wife, who is not an Oasis fan, because she grew up beyond. She's basically 12 years younger than I am. She did not get to experience Oasis. When they were reuniting, it was all up in her TikTok feed. And she was like, I think I'm into this. And so it was so much in her algorithm. She said, hey, they're getting back together in Manchester. Do you want to go to Manchester? Very cool. It convinced her that quick. That's cool. Oasis stays in, right? Absolutely. Do not eliminate. OK, we have five more. Pink. I'm coming up. That's one you go to. Interesting. Yes, that's my first pink song. So I was in radio whenever pink started in like 98 or so. There you go. Talking about, and she was signed to LaFace, which was she was like a hip hop artist at first, kind of. And that was kind of a presentation. And she's changed over the years because she's so talented. Pink's awesome. Man, I just don't even. You know what's weird about pink is I don't feel she's old. That's me too. It's like, wow, like already. Like I feel like. Do you guys think it's too early? Because it could be too early for some artists. I say. Well, so it's 25 years after the debut album. I think that's it. So it's that for her. She started young. But she just is still so young to me now, like when I see her because she was filming for Kelly Clarkson's show. So relevant. Like it's not even a. Yeah, it's not even about that she doesn't deserve to be in. I feel like she's so relevant now. And we saw her perform a few years ago at a festival where she. Remember she was hanging. Acrobatic stuff. I mean, she's so current. It's hard to see her as like a legend act. You know what I'm saying? I think that eliminates her because I think she deserves to get in. But I think she's still so relevant. She has so much more time to get in. But half the other actors are going to die in next week. Yeah, so they need to get in. We need to get them in. But they're in there. So I'm only eliminating Pink because she's so relevant now. OK, OK, I like that. It's a peer respect. It's a complimentary elimination. Do you want to jump in on that? I'm in. OK, eliminate. Hang tight. The Bobby cast will be right back. Welcome back to the Bobby cast. Shade. Shade. Man, if I tell you I listen to Shade in the bathtub. What? If I tell you I've done it once, I've done it 100 times. Wow. When's the last time you did it? Oh. Oh. Neat. It's been a while because I'm married now. It's been a while. So she has a couple of songs that you would know anyway. I know. Like smooth operator. Oh. I'm a smooth operator. I'm a smooth operator. And then never met. I just wish I could sing or play drums. And that is S-A-D-E, right? Shade. With a thingy. OK. Yeah. Oh, I remember her. She was really pretty. That sounded creepy. It sounded like when you said get off or whatever. I remember her. She was pretty, dude. She was really pretty. Man, I mean, this song from. I used to think it was Sade because that's how it's spelled. But it is. And none of my friends ever listened to her. So I'd never heard it. So I only just said what I saw. I'm going to pull up here. So the song that I love so much, I can't play it because it's going to be, we're getting in trouble. It's not smooth operator? No. Smooth operator is a big hit. But man, the one I listened to in the bathtub all the time. The bathtub? Not that one. Hold on. Ooh, that saxophone, man. Jezebel, sweetest taboo. Maybe it's not on our greatest hits. It was a B side that you listened to in the bathtub? Oh, no, I'm telling you. If you heard it, let me see what her biggest songs are. If you heard this song, you'd probably want to take a bath. Well, let's hear it. That's how good it is. Mike, what's her biggest streaming song? It is Smooth Operator. So would you purposely look for this song while you're in the bathroom? Did it just come out on a playlist? It's the greatest song ever. That's not it. I got to find it and then come back. I can't put her in, though. I can't base on a bad time love alone. I mean, you can. You can do it in a bad time hall of fame. She'd be number one. Yeah. I definitely have to find what song it is. I think I've been inside you, baby. You know me better than that. That's how I kind of go. I'm kind of getting it out of my head. That's it, by your side. Find it, find it. I can't really play it on this because Netflix will fire us. I just like hearing you sing it. I know, but I do, too. Don't get me wrong. But I can never know what song it is when you're singing it. Yeah. That's the hard part. I know. Still makes me want to take a nap. Let's say we play like. No, I'll just play it for you a little bit. But it goes, yes. Think of this night, baby. You know me better than that. All right. I love that song. Can't put her in. I'm going to have to eliminate her just because it to me wasn't enough of a fan. We got three more before we pick. Shakira. Oh, Eddie's listened to with his phone. Oh, quietly. That's good, though. See if you recognize that. Eddie's got adapters. Little acoustic guitar. Yeah. I wonder if it's the same. It's called by your side? That's it. Yeah, yeah. You can hear a little bit. And then you hear it go. Dink out, days inside, baby. All I'm doing now is picturing you in the bath. Eyes closed. Bubbles, too. Bubbles? Bubbles are you playing with any? Like, no, listen. Like a rubber ducky. You have toys in there. What's wrong with you? I've heard this song. Isn't it awesome? You know me better than that. I'm going to eliminate, though. Yeah, I'm with you. Eliminate. Shakira. Shakira, Shakira. A little bit of pink complex here. Not as much pink, because I think pink's a little more relevant. I think Shakira internationally is massive. Shakira. Like, what comes to mind? Are you doing Hips Don't Lie? Hips don't lie, for sure. And then there is the one that came out in a cartoon, I think, like Zootopia. Say everything. How about whenever? Whenever. Whenever to be together. James. A little bit of the pink complex here. I think she's still a little too young for me to give her a spot right now. Yeah. It's a bit age discrimination, I know. Are we eliminating too much, though? Are we going to run out of people? I don't think so, but I have two more to talk about. Luther Vandross. The NCAA tournament is not as sweet as it can be without. One shiny moment. One shiny moment. That's right. Luther Vandross was kind of a one-on-one, meaning he did the whole, came up, Apollo Theater. Where they would just boo you if you sucked. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Is that the cane? Would they get the cane out? No, that's the frog on Looney Tunes. Looney Tunes. Hello, mom. Hello, baby. Hello, daughter. Yeah, you're going to thank a boost. He was like a background singer, songwriter, like a ranger through the 70s. Was like, I don't want to say crooner, because I don't know if that's respectful enough. I love, like, you're endless love. I remember this love. Yeah, I remember that one. And the dance of my father. Remember the dance of my father? That song makes me want to cry because I didn't have a father, and I couldn't dance really. And you couldn't dance with him because you didn't have one. But that was a great song. I bet that hit hard for you. What about the Kendrick song? Luther, it's hard to lose. This world is mine. It's Luther, isn't it? OK, so that's Luther Vandross, right? That song's Luther. See, that's cool. I'm leaving Luther Vandross in. Yeah, I like that. So too. And then Wu Tang. I don't know how this thing happens without Wu Tang. I'm being honest with you. Are you not Wu Tang guy? I mean, I don't know a lot of Wu Tang. Man, this is a bad year for me, dude. There's a lot of, I'm finding myself saying, I don't know a lot of these. I'm going to say something controversial. I think that ODB, even by himself, is one of the best hip hop artists that ever existed. And ODB was in who? Did you just have a stroke? Wu Tang. Wu Tang. Why did that even creep in? Dude, what is wrong with me today? Wu Tang. ODB was in Wu Tang? Yeah. OK. Yeah. Met the man, Ghostface Killa. I know all those guys. Yeah. Ray Kwan. You're crazy, man. I'm sure there are others that I'm not pulling. Those are the ones that are kind of on my mind the most. I know all those guys. So what were you saying none of this could be? I just don't think. I think that was like a collective that was, they made freaking, and again, you had to understand this is a white guy from Arkansas saying this, right? Because people are going to be like, you don't have a hip hop. You're right. They were so great and new and transcendent as a group. And then they had the ability to all break off and do their own projects and then still come back. And Wu Tang forever. But I also grew up in a school that wasn't white. So I have a lot of reasons. I don't know. I was a Wu Tang kid for a big part of my kidness. So you love him. And I love ODB. Oh, baby, you. No. Nope. Who is that? That is, so you'd never met a girl that you tried to date. And you never did but does that you got a date. And that's never, never died that you tried to date. Yeah, you. You got what I need. That's not ODB. Bismarcky. Yeah, Bismarcky. He was also on the kid show. Remember? Kid show. He played the music in the Nickelodeon show? You can't say that on television? No, no, no. Oh, you don't know anything about Bismarcky, do you? No, I don't. You'll get the Gabba. He was a music guy. Maybe like a, maybe like a, maybe like a, a wicka wicka wicka wicka wicka wicka wicka wicka wicka. You'll get the Gabba. Bismarcky's not out for it. Okay, he's not out for it. Okay, so here's who we have. That we haven't eliminated. We got to pick seven. All right. We got the Black Crows. Yep. Mariah Phil Collins. That's three. Lauren Hill. Oasis. Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang. That's seven. I think we picked our seven here. You did it. Well, that was easy. That was easy, dude. That's what I'm saying. We were eliminating a lot while we were just talking, that I'm like, are we gonna have enough? I think we did it. Okay. Can you name those again? Black Crows? I'm gonna vote. I got to vote in for the Black Crows. Boom. Are you submitting right now? Right now. That's awesome. And by the way, if anyone is watching this from the committee. Oh. Turn channel. Oh. Oh. Oh. Turn channel. Because we've done this before, and I keep waiting to not be invited back as a member. But you do. You still did. And I still get the invites. Like, please vote. Mariah Carey. That's two. I'm gonna make sure here. Phil Collins. That's three. Lauren Hill. That's four. Oasis is five. Lutovandros is six. And Wu Tang is seven. That's awesome, dude. There you go. We did it. OK. So I did all seven. Wu Tang. Do you want to see, like, here's my votes. Just to show you guys. The yellow ones here. OK. All of them. I'm gonna do submit my votes. All right. I'm a little hurt that Jeff Buckley's not in there, but it's OK. There's always next year. You already submitted it's too late. Well, they wanted to know, hold on. Age range. Your age range? Well, then it's ethnicity and race. And I think combined, we're kind of a, it's in a pickle. But we're just going to go with line. We're just going to go. No, we're not a hybrid. Yeah, we're a hybrid. OK, Caucasian. All right, we're in, boys. OK. Caucasian, got it. Check. Yeah. Two versus one. Yeah, that's fine, dude. That's fine. Thank you. So I feel good. Everybody feel good about that? Yeah, kind of. OK. OK, thanks for listening to that episode. What you're going to hear in the next episode, they may already even be up by the time you hear this. But tomorrow, if you're listening to this brand new, is with Chris Robinson, the lead singer of the Black Crows. So he's one of the artists that we just picked that should go in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But so listen to that. Thank you for listening. And until next time, bye, everybody. This has been a Bobby Cast Production. This is an I Heart podcast. Guaranteed human.
