Summary

Tim Miller and Will Summer discuss how Libs of TikTok, the right-wing social media account known for targeting progressive individuals, has expanded its operation with new team members and continues to orchestrate cancel campaigns against ordinary people—particularly a New Orleans pediatrician—despite the right's previous criticism of cancel culture.

Insights
  • Right-wing figures who criticized 'cancel culture' are now the primary practitioners of it, targeting regular citizens rather than public figures for political speech
  • Libs of TikTok has evolved from a solo operation to a team-based enterprise, likely to circumvent X/Twitter's demonetization policies on stolen content
  • Political speech by healthcare workers and other professionals is being weaponized through coordinated social media campaigns to create employment pressure
  • The framing of political activism ('disrupt the system') as violent threats represents a rhetorical escalation tactic to justify targeting individuals
  • Cancel culture enforcement mechanisms create chilling effects on political participation, particularly affecting marginalized professionals speaking about systemic issues
Trends
Decentralization of right-wing media operations into distributed teams to evade platform monetization restrictionsExpansion of coordinated harassment campaigns targeting healthcare and education professionals for political speechReframing of political dissent as threats of violence to justify employment-based retaliationShift from targeting 'public figures' to targeting ordinary citizens as primary cancel culture targetsUse of TikTok-native content formats and aesthetics in right-wing political organizing and harassment campaignsErosion of professional norms protecting workers' off-duty political speech in conservative media ecosystems

Like this guy's a teacher. He says it it first amendment to say 86 47 you know let get him fired This is so important because a lot there was a lot of folks on the right who made this case that one of the things that was so pernicious about cancel culture when it was coming from the left was that they were going after regular people. Like it's one thing to go after a commentator or even like a superintendent of schools, like a public figure of some kind. But like the problem was like, when you went after random people, like that lady that did a racist AIDS joke or something, and then got on an airplane to Africa, and then that kind of ruined her life. Like that was the idea was that that is wrong. People should be allowed to make mistakes and whatever. And I think it's interesting. I guess you said you were monitoring it, but like that is like the entire remit of Libs of tech talk right now. Just going after total ramps. Yeah, totally. I mean, just finding, you know, oh, there's this again, like a like a blue haired librarian. I mean, they're still doing like, you know, there's a book about drag queens like in a children's bookstore. You know, let's get them. One of the things that caught my eye that prompted this video was, I want to watch this video I'm about to show you, where they try to cancel and go after a doctor here in New Orleans. What struck me was that the woman on the video was not Kaya. Is that how you say it? Kaya or Chaya? I believe it's Kaya. Kaya. It was not Kaya. And so I guess they're growing. I mean, right when cancel culture is so successful that they've expanded their staffing. What have you found out about? Well, I have a couple of theories about this. So this actually has only been going on for, I think, about a week. Kaya's public profile, I would say, has drastically reduced, particularly since the Epstein Binders incident last year. She's really like not around that much. So now they're calling themselves the libs of TikTok team. Now, I did a lot of research. You know, I like to know all the right wing media personalities. So when there's a new one like these two blonde women we're going to talk about, I like to know what their deal is. And it's very difficult. In fact, they often kind of mispronounce their names. This one woman we'll get into, she says, my name's Amy. I thought, oh, it's Amy. Oh, no, it's Annie. Whatever. But I think what's going on here is that Twitter is making news, X, about demonetizing people who just rip video. So taking, let's say, finding liberals on TikTok and putting it on Twitter, for example. And so I think she's trying to kind of create a stable of people who will commentate and so she can keep the money flowing. Got it. Because it's allowable to do kind of the reaction video style videos, but not just to steal videos. That's interesting. All right. Why don't we look at the compilation of Annie, Annie, Amy and before we get to the Louisiana doctor and see who the new faces are of libs of TikTok. Let's watch. I can't believe this is real. Democrats want to police your ketchup packets. Annie here. With Libs of TikTok, coming to you guys with a story about yet another recidivist offender. This is Annie with Libs of TikTok. With a very disturbing story for all the parents out there. We've got more violence from the left realm. Okay, people, they're coming for your children again. So, Lady at the End was just a separate blonde. That wasn't Annie with a different haircut. That's another woman, yeah, kind of like a different vibe, I guess. Or maybe pretty similar vibe. A pretty similar vibe, I would say. They have like the TikTok white hate hour. I mean, it's really like, y'all, there's another illegal immigrant coming for your children. Can we pull that back up again? That one went by really fast, Matt. Can we watch? What was the... I can't believe this is real. Democrats want to police your ketchup packets. Me neither. I can't believe that that's real either. The ketchup... The cancel culture is coming for the ketchup packets. Hopefully it's maybe there. Do you think that they want us to go back to catsup? Which would be more of kind of like a trad mindset. You know, down with ketchup. Reinstate catsup. Go to the olden days. Yes. Yeah. You know, reject modernity. Embrace tradition. Catsup packets. Okay. We've done the silliness. This pissed me off, actually. I'm mad that this is happening. And I do think that there was probably it was probably the right mindset, especially given all the horrors of the actual Trump administration. Just kind of ignore the silliness of things like the libs of TikTok. But if they're going to continue to be out there trying to ruin the lives of regular people, I do think it's important that they have to answer for that. So let's watch this specific case. It's about a doctor here in New Orleans. and it caught my eye because libs took that themselves and then some of their other you know whatever hangers on were you know we're tweeting at like tagging this hospital it's right around the corner from me uh doing their best to try to create drama and and attack this doctor uh so let's watch there are some truly terrifying individuals that currently work in our health care system this is dr maurice sholas and he's a pediatric doctor at the new orleans oschner children's hospital. He went on an unhinged social media rant referring to white people as the mayonnaise caucus. First and the loudest are the white guys. The white women are usually there too, but they say it just a little more gently, but it's just as foul. So before you come on somebody's post and tell them what they think is not what you believe they should think, or tell them what they are explaining their life experience as being is invalid, how about remember to shutting the fuck up is free. We checked out his social media, and of course, he's got pronouns in his bio. He also repeats the Democratic lie that African-Americans are somehow prevented from voting. And he threatened the Louisiana legislators by saying he will do everything in his power to disrupt the system. But you don't want the actual black people to live here to have any say. We're not going down and we're going to do everything in our power to disrupt the system. This sure sounds like a call of violence to me. would you feel comfortable with this person being in charge of your child's health care yes fuck you oh disrupt the system is a call to violence this is uh at the seashell level here annie's rant here i think it's important to say it comes amidst like jeff landry the republican governor of louisiana uh signing an executive order to nullify people's votes 42 000 people have voted in in the state already uh to cancel the elections to create new elections we would take away black representation in the state. So I think a black person in Louisiana talking about how their voice is being silenced and how they want to disrupt the system is totally reasonable. It's not a call to a threat to anything. His other big offense on here I guess is that he criticized people on his social media of being part of the mayonnaise caucus Yeah he did the classic you know your mayo ass white people Yes your mayo ass And it's like, OK, I mean, you want the doctor fired over this? Like, that's what they want. She's like, she I understand why she might not want her child to go to that doctor because she doesn't want you know, she doesn't believe that black people are equal. And she believes that everybody has DEI and that they've gotten they're not on their merits. But I assume somebody with a gray beard like that has had a very long career. Many people in the city have sent their kids to him. He is allowed to have political opinions in his free time. You'd think the fucking libs of TikTok people would understand that. They have some pretty terrible political opinions that they share in their free time. And like the idea that they would try to cancel this person and get him fired over the fact that he said he wants to disrupt the system and like offered some like lightly heated comments about the, let's just be honest, white establishment here in Louisiana that is taking political power away from black folks. I think it's totally appropriate and fine. And it's like absolutely insane that they are now running a social media mob campaign to try to go after. Yeah, I mean, I think it gets to what you talked about earlier regarding this kind of like right wing cancel culture. I mean, very much. I mean, this is what lives of TikTok has been about for so long, which is sort of often, you know, having a chilling effect. You're kind of terrorizing regular people from participating in political discourse. I mean, there's no reason that a pediatrician shouldn't be allowed to voice his political opinions. Pretty, by the way, I think straightforward ones are not really like radical. And there's like he's trying to murder people. And so, I mean, I think clearly there's kind of this enforcement mechanism where any they want to make people afraid to say, you know, hey, I don't like that. The Voting Rights Act is getting overturned and then they'll try to get you fired. Yeah. Yeah. Disrupt the system as an act of violence. I mean, it's like literally actually a comment about changing the political structures. It's hard to even understand how like blonde, curly, you know, little TikTok lady there like got like even saw it as violence. And it's a very snowflakey, I guess, reaction. I would say very snowflakey. Yeah. Do you think this pediatrician with the mismatched glasses or the colorful glasses is part of the weather underground? Certainly seems that way to me. The whole thing is fucking crazy. All right, well, we'll keep an eye on them because I think it's important to disrupt the disruption. If they're going to try to get random people fired for having political opinions, I think that we can try to disrupt the system, if you will, which is not a threat to violence. It is just merely an argument that we're trying to change the way that things are working because it's not working correctly. I mean, it's so weird seeing this stuff also packaged in the kind of like flat monotone TikTok voice where she's saying, you know, wow, that sounds like a threat of violence to me. You know, it's like when I was like, do you think baby Gronk is going to rise up Livy? You know, it's just all of this just like Internet brain rot stuff applied to like just this like really kind of brutal attempts to get someone fired. The doxing is back. Well, anyway, hopefully we'll hear from the Joe Rogans of the world to Dave Chappelle. This is a good moment. It's a good moment. We can all kumbaya together and say we're over this. We're done with this. peak woke is past cancel culture is past now it's time for the right wingers to police their own house and make sure that they are done with this stupid nonsense where you go after regular people for expressing their political views in a free country um that's enough thank you for doing a little uh rapid fire research on the latest with libs of tiktok for me will i always appreciate your expertise yeah happy to do it the the commenters love uh over at libs of tiktok they love the new crew they say oh libs of tiktok annie is here and maybe someday we'll learn the other one's name or maybe not or hopefully not um that's will summer subscribe to his newsletter false flags we'll be seeing you guys soon
