More details surface about the ceasefire with Iran, markets respond to news of peace, and the CIA unveils a mind-blowing new weapon called Ghost Murmur. I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire executive editor John Bickley. It's Wednesday, April 8th, and this is Evening Wire. The Pentagon provided updates on the ceasefire deal in an early morning press conference today. When asked about the continued Iranian strikes after the agreement was announced, war secretary Pete Hexeth cited the damage to Iranian communications, but he also pressed the regime to comply with the ceasefire. Iran would be wise to find a way to get the carrier pigeon to their troops out in remote locations to know not to shoot, not to shoot any longer. It takes time sometimes for ceasefires to take hold. We're watching it. We're prepared if necessary, but we hope and believe that it'll hold. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Cain praised the efforts of American service members and support staff involved in getting the operation to this point and emphasized their vigilance during the ceasefire. A ceasefire is a pause, and the joint force remains ready, if ordered or called upon, to resume combat operations with the same speed and precision as we've demonstrated over the last 38 days, and we hope that that is not the case. President Trump says the U.S. will work with Iran on removing nuclear material and that the two sides will be discussing sanctions relief and tariffs. President Trump wrote on Truth Social, quote, there will be no enrichment of uranium and the U.S. will work with Iran, dig up, and remove all of the deeply buried nuclear dust. He also predicted a golden age for the Middle East and said the U.S. will be helping with the traffic buildup in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian actors have escalated cyber attacks on critical American infrastructure, and U.S. intelligence agencies are warning private companies to be on the lookout. Deliwire reporter Zach Joule has the details. The targets include energy, water, and transportation systems, with officials saying Iran exploited industrial automation products, which have caused operational disruptions at drinking water and wastewater facilities. Industry leaders report heightened vigilance, noting that Iran has previously infiltrated U.S. power networks and that malware could lie dormant and ready to activate. Experts stress that the threat is real and ongoing, with officials coordinating closely with the private sector to prevent attacks. Vice President J.D. Vance is warning that the deal with Iran is a fragile truce. Speaking at an international conference in Hungary today, the VP made clear that Iran better not forget that the U.S. has all the leverage. If they're going to lie, if they're going to cheat, if they're going to try to prevent even the fragile truce that we've set up from taking place, then they're not going to be happy because what the President has also shown is that we still have clear military, diplomatic, and maybe most importantly, we have extraordinary economic leverage. So the President has told us not to use those tools. He's told us to come to the negotiating table, but if the Iranians don't do the exact same thing, they're going to find out that the President of the United States is not one to mess around. He's impatient. He's impatient to make progress. It never happens at a good time. The pipe bursts at midnight. The heater quits on the coldest night. Suddenly, you're overwhelmed. Daily Wire reporter Breck Astoll has the numbers. Crude oil prices plunged and U.S. stock futures soared this morning following President Trump's announcement of a ceasefire. The U.S. oil benchmark quickly fell by about 17.5% to roughly $94 a barrel. While Brent Crude, the international benchmark, dropped 15.5% to about $92 a barrel. The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures and S&P 500 futures each rose early in the day by about 3% while the Nasdaq 100 futures climbed 3.5%. Saudi Arabia's critical east-west pipeline has been hit by Iranian drones. That's according to the Wall Street Journal. The pipeline connects fields on Saudi Arabia's east to a port on the Red Sea and has allowed them to bypass the shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz. Other facilities were damaged in the attack as well, though the full extent of the damage is still being assessed. Iran says it will, quote, destroy any ship that tries to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without its approval. Daily Wire senior editor Joel Needler has more. An Iranian official in audio shared with the Wall Street Journal said vessels, quote, must receive permission from Iran's SEPA Navy or else they'll be fired on and sunk. The threat comes just hours after President Trump announced a two-week, quote, complete, immediate, and safe reopening of the Strait. Iranian officials say they may allow limited passage under strict military coordination, emphasizing the ceasefire remains fragile and warning they are prepared to return to conflict if necessary. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hexeth insisted the Strait is open and said commerce will continue as both militaries monitor the situation. Democrats are going all in on socialism according to their own polling. Daily Wire homepage managing editor Jordan Schroeder has more. The Democratic Socialists of America release a new poll showing that 53 percent of Democratic voters prefer politicians described as similar to Bernie Sanders, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, and Zoran Mondani, while only 33 percent favored those similar to Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and Nancy Pelosi. Since 2016, rank and file Democrats have grown increasingly hostile toward capitalism. According to recent Gallup data, 66 percent of Democrats view socialism favorably compared to just 42 percent for capitalism. Daily Wire political reporter Cameron Arkand has more. With the 2026 midterm elections fast approaching, Democrats are scrambling to find new ways to connect with voters, particularly young men, and have landed on Hassan Piker. The Twitch streamer and YouTuber boasts over 4 million followers, has hosted politicians like AOC, Bernie Sanders, and Zoran Mamdami, and is set to campaign with Michigan Senate hopeful Abdul Al-Said. Al-Said has appeared on Fox News recently, where it was shown this clip of Piker responding to the October 7th attack on Israel. Host Bill Hammer then asked Al-Said, Democratic Senator John Fetterman spoke out on aligning with Piker remarking, this is the individual that said America deserved 9-11. Piker also said, quote, he has had no issue with Hezbollah, and that quote, if you cared about Medicare fraud, you would kill Rick Scott. The successful search and rescue of a downed airman over Easter weekend was in part made possible by new covert CIA technology. Daily Wire contributor Tim Pierce has more. According to the New York Post, the CIA used the tool it is dubbed Ghostmurmer for the first time in the field to locate the soldier. Ghostmurmer uses AI and cutting edge technology to pick up on heartbeats over large distances. Lockheed Martin created the tool with help from advances in the field of quantum magnetometry to find the electromagnetic pulses of a human heartbeat. The barren space of rural Iran provided the ideal conditions to test out this new tech in the race to find the downed airmen before Iranian forces. Trump endorsed candidate Clay Fuller has won the Georgia special election to fill the seat vacated by Marjorie Taylor Green. Daily Wire assistant editor Andy Valdez has more. Fuller defeated Democrat Sean Harris with 57% of the vote compared to Harris's 43%. While Fuller did carry the day, his win represents a sharp decline in the Republican share of the vote compared to previous years. In 2024, Green won the district with around 65% of the vote. A few years earlier in 2020, she won nearly 75%. In 2018, Republican Tom Graves won around 75% as well. While the math may change for a special election, if Fuller's results are at all indicative of future trends, it could spell trouble for Republicans in November. A drug dealer known as the Ketamine Queen was just sentenced to prison for her role in actor Matthew Perry's death. Daily Wire lifestyle reporter Lauren Bear has more. A federal judge sentenced Jasveen Sangha to 15 years in prison for supplying the Ketamine that killed Matthew Perry in 2023, making her the third of five defendants to be sentenced and the only one to admit direct responsibility for his death. In court, Sangha said she carries her shame, quote, like a jacket, and sought a reduced sentence. Her lawyers even argued the time she had spent in jail up until the sentencing should suffice. Prosecutors argued she ran a lucrative drug operation for wealthy clients and kept dealing even after prior fatal consequences. Perry, who had legally received Ketamine for depression before seeking more illicitly, was sold 25 vials by Sangha for $6,000 in the days before his death. Perry's stepfather Keith Morrison told the court the family lives with a quote, daily grinding sadness and sorrow. And the Patriots head coach responds to leaked photos of him with a New York Times reporter while the Braves and the Angels throw punches. That's so criminal host Lyndon Blake has more. Photos published by Page Six show New England Patriots head coach Mike Frable and New York Times and the athletic NFL reporter Diana Rossini in bathing suits by a pool and holding hands and hugging on the roof of a bungalow. But Frable says there's nothing to see here. He told the Post, quote, these photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. The athletic provided its own statement, calling the picks quote misleading and lacking essential context, including that these are public interactions in front of many people.
