Hi there, Paul.

2:15

Speaker C

Hi Kim. Thanks so much for taking the time to talk to me today. I love your show. My reason for calling I am a competitive Scrabble player. Tournaments. I've heard you mentioned Scrabble before. I think.

2:17

Speaker A

You know what?

2:33

Speaker B

I love playing Scrabble.

2:33

Speaker A

I will. But.

2:35

Speaker B

But Baron won't play with me because he says I win all the time.

2:36

Speaker C

Hey, I'll play you. But anyway, to be really good at Scrabble you have to memorize lots and lots of words. There are actually some really top players that have memorized the entire dictionary.

2:40

Speaker B

Oh my gosh.

2:56

Speaker A

You're kidding.

2:57

Speaker D

I'm.

2:58

Speaker C

Oh no I'm not.

2:59

Speaker B

So.

3:00

Speaker C

So the best gravel player. Sorry, go ahead.

3:01

Speaker B

No, I can say so. So give us. Give us like. Like three words that are like that.

3:03

Speaker A

You throw out there and you're like.

3:08

Speaker B

They'Re never going to know this word. Or it's like. Or it's in or it's the word that will give you the most points.

3:10

Speaker C

Well technically I think the word that could give you the most points is Oxyfen butyzone because it has the X and the Z and it's never going to happen in a real game. But if you could play a 15 letter word along the side of the board, you could hit three triple word scores at once.

3:16

Speaker A

Wow.

3:34

Speaker C

And multiply the score by 27.

3:34

Speaker B

What does that mean? I don't think this is not a word. Well, how do you spell it? Andrew, look it up. How do you spell it?

3:37

Speaker A

I am. Yeah.

3:43

Speaker C

O, X, Y, P, H, E, N, B U, T A Z, O, N, E. He's correct. Yes. It'll never come up in a game.

3:44

Speaker B

But what is it?

3:53

Speaker C

You know, just. I don't know.

3:54

Speaker D

He is right. It is the. The number is 14 letters. Which means there would have to be seven letters already on the board or what? No, six letters already on the board. And then you add all your tiles if you like. He said if it's along the side you would score 1780 points.

3:56

Speaker B

But what does it mean?

4:14

Speaker D

Oh, you want the definition of the word?

4:15

Speaker A

Yes.

4:17

Speaker D

Let me copy and paste.

4:18

Speaker A

Hold on.

4:19

Speaker D

Sounds like a drug or something.

4:20

Speaker A

It does.

4:22

Speaker C

Something chemical.

4:23

Speaker B

I'm sure it's because hearing loss.

4:24

Speaker D

Potent non steroid anti inflammatory.

4:27

Speaker A

Go.

4:29

Speaker B

Okay, that's it. We just learned that.

4:30

Speaker C

Yeah. So next time you play maybe that will look. Will come up. Probably not, but anyway, like I was saying, you have to memorize a lot of words and people used to make flashcards and they'd keep them in a like a little file. But now there are apps that do that.

4:32

Speaker A

Okay.

4:51

Speaker C

But I love audiobooks. So what I was setting out to do was to make audio files of words that I could just listen to over and over and hopefully remember them. Now I have the Scrabble apps to create the list of words. So, you know, I have them as text. And then I found an app called text Aloud. I guess I'm allowed to say the name of it.

4:51

Speaker A

Whatever.

5:15

Speaker B

Yeah, no problem.

5:16

Speaker C

That would. It would convert them into audio files and it worked okay. But they just sound real monotonous, you know, like a robot or maybe a robot.

5:16

Speaker B

Okay, so. Oh, oh, oh, nice. Oh, Paul, we just lost your connection.

5:27

Speaker D

That's not a Scrabble word, is it, Paul?

5:35

Speaker B

Oh, you know what? That was just me mean Paul here. I. You just suckered me right in.

5:37

Speaker A

Oh.

5:42

Speaker B

Love your show, kid.

5:43

Speaker D

Love your music.

5:44

Speaker C

Robot.

5:45

Speaker A

Robot.

5:46

Speaker D

R O B U T T. Robot.

5:47

Speaker B

Okay, so basically what's happening for the uninitiated is that I'm being. I'm being made fun of and roasted right now because I used to say robot. You used to say the word robot like ribbit. All right, so let me tell you.

5:50

Speaker A

What you want to do.

6:04

Speaker B

I understand where you're going with this, Paul, and I'm going to help you, even though, you know, hurt my heart. And I don't think I'll ever recover.

6:05

Speaker D

This is call of the year right now.

6:13

Speaker B

Never recover is that you want to use like 11 labs or something called WonderCraft. It costs you about five or ten dollars a month, and that's where you can give it all the phrases that you want. It'll save them as MP3 files so you can listen to them while you're walking, while you're driving, whatever it may be. You can also set it up as like one voice for new words, a different voice for review words, words, A third voice for testing words, whatever it may be.

6:14

Speaker D

You could also do it for free with cap cut.

6:41

Speaker A

Yeah, you can do with cap cut.

6:44

Speaker D

It might take a little bit longer, but if you don't want to spend the money, it's just copy and paste and then voice to text.

6:46

Speaker B

Okay, I didn't talk. I don't know about this, but Paul is a Scrabble tournament winner.

6:52

Speaker A

The guy makes millions of dollars.

6:55

Speaker D

Oh, okay, nevermind. Then have one of your butlers go on the Internet and do exactly what Kim said for five bucks.

6:57

Speaker B

Exactly.

7:03

Speaker A

I mean.

7:04

Speaker B

Or you can get a robot to do it.
