Hello everybody, welcome back to another edition of the Remix Lounge with the number one podcast host on planet Earth, your boy Stone the Great. Today we are going to revisit my very first interview aka my favorite interview that I did a few years ago with the beautiful Goldie Samara. She is a registered nurse in California and Goldie owns a health and wellness center that offers many different wellness services, which she mentions in our interview. So let's get into my very first interview. I know Throwback Thursday is technically not until tomorrow, but today we are going to go back in time to my very first published podcast episode. Enjoy. Hello, everybody. This is In The Lounge with your host, Jay Stone. My guest is one of the best people that you should know. I'm glad I'm getting to know her. She has a clinic. This is my health and wellness session. so everyone put your hands together for one of the best nurses there is if you see her she looks like she would just take care of you she looks so just friendly and nice you would want to get a shot by her because it looks like it wouldn't even hurt everybody put your hands together for gold thank you thank you what a great introduction I appreciate you, Daman, for having me here. I appreciate you coming in. Like I said, this is my health and wellness segment. We're going to have a good time today. We're going to have a good time. This is my health and wellness segment. And so what I'm going to do, I'm going to just kick it off right now. Tell us a little bit about yourself. Oh, man, the crazy side? No, I'm kidding. Give me all of it. Well, my name is Goldie Samara. I have been a registered nurse for, oh God, 17 years. Okay. I started when I was 11. No, I'm kidding. Born and raised in San Francisco and living in the Bay Area. But I became a nurse on accident. You became a nurse on accident. I did. But you seen somebody hurting and you helped them? No. It started in high school. Okay. My senior year, I was short credits. Oh, okay. for math so i had to take a night class and i had to take the bus and go right after school i had to take the bus and go to night class so the night class the night classes that were offered were either computer science this was like the late 90s guys so like 98 i just dated myself but it was either computer science in this brochure or nurse assistant and i was like computers Nah, that's not going to go anywhere. Well. Well, oops. But I took the certified, it was a nursing assistant class. Okay. And I did that for like a whole semester while I was finishing up high school. Oh, cool. And that way I could graduate high school. So it was on accident. And I just fell in love with it. As a nurse assistant, I was working in care homes and I saw the good nurses and the bad nurses. And I loved how the nurses made the patients feel. The good nurses made the patients feel. The good nurses. Yeah. It was inspiring. You ain't lying. It is some sucky nurses out there. But, you know, hopefully all the good nurses outweigh the bad ones. So tell us about your business, what you do. Oh, gosh. So I started in July, end of July of 2021. And I've been, again, I've been a registered nurse for 17 years. mainly in pediatrics. And I started my business because seven of those years I became a holistic nurse, but did that more for self-care. I got sick and I wasn't really trusting Western medicine at the time, even though I worked frontline in it for so long. And holistic medicine just changed me. I saw a naturopath doctor alongside with my primary care doctor and went vegan for a few months, took some herbs and supplements and just reversed my illness that I had and fell in love with just healing people through, you know, you could use Western medicine, but also add in, you know, yoga, meditation, vitamins, supplements. And so I've always been intrigued with that part of nursing and tried many aspects of it. I'm also an entrepreneur at heart. Okay. You know, living here in the Bay Area, you got to keep grinding. You got to do something or you'll be on that bridge living here. Exactly. So I fell in love with IV hydration. Okay. That's what my business does. So I started in July of 2021 and had my first location in the East Bay, the great city of Hercules, California, and then I opened my second location in Pacifica, California this past January. So we have two locations. We have two locations. I like it. I like it already. What's the name of it? Elevate Healing IV Hydration. Elevate Healing IV Hydration. Now, she gave me a menu here. For all my partiers, she is the one to go to. When the club is over and you're like, what? I got to go to work tomorrow. Call her up. She's going to give you all the information so you can get her up. Now, I'm looking at her menu here. It's called the Hangover Drip. It is worth every dime and penny that you give this lady. Just so you can be back on 10 Monday. So, help me out. Explain what the Hangover Drip is. Well, it's just as it says. So, it helps with any kind of symptoms you have from a hangover. Okay. And it gets you ready for round two, basically. So what I put in there, it has a B complex. So it has all the Bs. I also put Zofran, which helps you with any nausea because, you know, we're nauseous after, you know, some of that liquid courage. And I also have Toradol, which helps with any kind of headaches and migraines you have. So this drip not only helps with hangovers, but it helps with the symptoms. So I do have patients coming in that have migraines or even ladies, menstrual cramping. You know how that is. So it does a wide variety of things. So that's basically what's in it. I always encourage my patients, definitely Google all the vitamins I have in there because I'm very transparent on my website, which is www.elevatehealing.com. Okay. But I am transparent of everything I put inside my drip. So the hangover drip has been a very popular one. And ironically, both of my locations on the same street are bars. Oh, you own. So they kind of crawl to me, you know. But the bartenders are like, well, this one's going to need an IV drip. So they'll kind of like text me or send them over to me. And I get them driving home safe. Smart. That was not planned. Smart, but. I'm here to help the community. Location, location, location. Absolutely. Good work. I love it. I love it. And hey, you're helping the community. Why not? I like that. So now I see it is beneficial to you not just you to everybody who you're helping. I see what I see is it says lipo 12 B it helps you burn fat who don want to burn a couple of pounds So explain to me what that is because I a big man Everybody look at me and say boy you a big boy yeah Will it help me drop a couple of hundred pounds off me? It will. Here's the thing. On top of the IV drips, I offer two injections, and I inject it right into your arm muscle. The first one is a B12, and And B12 helps with mental clarity. It helps improve your metabolism. It helps with immune boosting. It even helps with sleep patterns. And I know it helps with energy. It helps amazingly with energy. Yes. So it gives you this natural energy. A lot of my patients say they see in 3D with any of my injections and with my IVs. See, I told you, when she shoots you, you see 3D. You see good, vivid dreams. And I'm telling you, let her shoot you with something. Good stuff. Good stuff. Not bad stuff. Good stuff. Vitamins. Yeah. Vitamins. Yes. Yeah, so B12, you know, is, you know, people get that weekly. We consume that. This has been popular for a lot of people who are vegetarian or vegan. So because you're not getting enough B12 because you don't eat meats. So that's one injection that I have. And then I have a fat burner B12, which is the lipo B12. And that's the one that you were asking me about. So on top of having all the benefits of B12, what this has is it has an amino blend. and in the nutshell what it does is it takes the sugars the fats and the carbs you eat and it converts it to energy so now now i always you know tell my patients this works if you're also active in your own rescue it's not going to work if you're sitting around so you can't just take the shot and go back sit on the couch eat a pound of potato chips no no this is an added value to what you're already doing now again iv hydration has been a conversation starter for holistic healing and wellness. Okay. So it's helping you be proactive with what you're doing. So you got to work as well. You can just, hey, give me the shot. I'm going to go do something. Yeah. No, you got to really work at making yourself better. Okay. Yeah. This has been popular for a lot of my patients that are taking on the health journey or they are business owners for like gyms, things like that. I'm partnering with a lot of CrossFit gyms, martial arts, and with any of my IV drips. And they've been sending a lot of their clients to me. Cool. So pretty soon, I'll be partnering up and being in their gym locations about once a month. That's a good thing. So yeah, I mean, anything to help the community, it's all collaborative here. I love it. So now, for the young girl or the young lady or the young guy who says, man, that's something to get into. I like that. What would you tell them first to do? What good advice would you tell them to be to become what you're doing or become a nurse or become somewhere in the health care? Right. First thing, make that decision. Okay. Everything is a decision. True. Right? Because once you make that decision, then your perspective gets there. Then you start activating. I'm going to do a little bit of medical terms here. you start activating the reticular activating system, which is a part of your brain. Okay. That all of a sudden, like for example, if you want to buy a blue Audi. Okay. All of a sudden, because you put it in your thought, all of a sudden you start noticing blue Audis around you. They were always there, but because you were like, you know what? I want to get a blue Audi. All of a sudden you start seeing it. It's because you activated it. The RAS. That's crazy. Yeah. Because that's true. Right. I, BS you not. I wanted an X5 and I wanted a black one. And when I said it and thought about it, everywhere I went to, X5, X5, X5. All in black, same thing. That's crazy. Okay, see. It's a decision. Now, the lounge, in the lounge, my lounge people, we're going to school. Because she's been to school, she's taken us to school. So what's the name of that again? The what? Reticular Activating System. R-A-X. Reticular activating system. Hmm, okay. So, is that almost the same thing as manifestation? Mm-hmm. Ah, there you go. Okay. So, if, you know, for, it's manifestation, it's meditating, it's putting positive energy out, but if you want to talk medical, it's reticular activating system. There is a part of our brain, you know, that kind of confirms that. You know, if you want woo-woo, then it's like meditate, manifest, journal it. If you want medical reticular activating system, RAS. Reticular activating system, RAS. Okay. So it's that decision. You know, that's the first thing you got to do. If you want to say, just like you said, I want an X5. I want to start a business. I want financial freedom. I want freedom of my time. I want to fire my boss, even though I love them. Wink, wink. I want to fire them and have independence of time for myself so I could be with my family, so I could be that mom or dad that's at the games, the school games, and volunteering at the PTA meetings because the other parents are too busy working. So you have to make that decision first and foremost. The next step is find your reason why. Find your reason why. Okay. Okay. And your reason why was? Freedom. Freedom of time. Now, you know, we grew up not having a lot of money. And I was never driven on money, but I was, I mean, it sure does help. You ain't learning. Right? Even though you don't want to be driven by money, but it does help make better decisions for you and your family. True. So you have to see it that way. Money is currency, and that's energy. It's a current. Money is a tool. It's a tool. Okay. And it amplifies the ambitions you have, and it also amplifies the bad habits you have. True. So, again, it's perspective. It's decision. For me, it was freedom of time. financial freedom, and helping others. And as a nurse, and I'm sure all my nurses here agree, we didn't come in this occupation for money. And people who did go in it for money, and my nurses will agree, you can see it. You'll know. Okay. So they do the bare minimum. And the ones who are really not there for the money are there for it because it's the love. They really go over and above. Yeah, and I could be wrong, just from my experience. No, you're pretty much so right because I see it in the profession that I've been doing. I see it in the music industry. I see it in photography. People, we have people who do it just for the cash flow of it, and then you see the people who love it. The people who love whatever they're doing, it's not a job. It's something that's like, man, I get up in the morning and I'm blessed to do this. I'm happy to do this. You know, so that's the biggest thing about, you know, picking a career. And when you call it a career, or most people say, I got to go to work. I don't want to go to work. I'm tired. I'm this, I'm that, and I'm that. People who love their job, man, they ain't wait to get there. All right, let's go. Come on, everybody, let's get up. Let's go. So that's what you want to hear that all the time. Yeah, and it shows, right? You can tell from your coworkers, and you seem like you have a very high energy, very positive energy, and I'm sure it reflects with the people around you. It do. And they're like, oh, man, Daman, this guy, he's full of energy. He's this ball of energy. I don't know. I'm always positive around him. He makes me smile. I am this way every day. This is what, this is, when you meet me, you see me, I'm that guy that pops off, I'll make you laugh, I'll do the whole thing. I don't hold grudges on people. If someone makes me upset, you will make me upset for like 15 minutes. Then I'll be like, you know what? Get over it. Okay, time to go. Very good. Because I look at it like this. My grandmother always told me. She said when someone makes you upset or you start hating someone they in your head all the time so they renting space in your head don do that because they not worth that once they get up get you upset you know hey whatever it is blow it away keep going life is too short to be upset to somebody all the time why exactly yeah you be the light right and true and you do not just nurses have to be this way i mean we we are that way because we're frontline we care for people people people's energies depend on our positive energy true um but i always tell everyone you be the light be the light worker it is it is it's it costs nothing to be kind it costs nothing to say hey thank you you did a good job just it costs nothing I go around a lot of people and I see they're frowning they're upset, they're mad they're this, what's wrong? who hurt you? whoever did, just let it ride, let it go smile, it's okay I work at the airline you see so much you see people crying, screaming, yelling and hollering because of mistakes they made. They made. They didn't get the flight on time. They didn't get here on time. Or their ticket is messed up. And then they think ratting and raving and cussing and screaming is going to get you to answer. No. Everybody who's listening to me now, I'm going to tell you the best way to get what you want out of anybody who works at the airline. Thank you. Could you please help me? I understand I made a mistake, but I need help. So trust and believe you will get what you want way faster than saying, I'll never fly this airline again. No, that doesn't work. Exactly. And it's the same for the hospital. Oh, no. Now, let me help you out here. You don't want to say that in a hospital because they'll stick you with something and you'll be laying up there for the rest of your life and don't know nothing. Don't do that. Be nice. Be nice. Be nice. so where can people reach you at if they want to get you on ig if they want to get you on facebook if they want to uh get you on an email where can someone reach you at yeah so you could find um you could find our instagram at elevate healing underscore iv underscore hydration we're also on facebook at elevate healing iv hydration our email is hello at elevate healing.com and also you could visit our website at elevatehealing.com. So I got, I told someone you're going to be on. I told a couple of people you're going to be on. And I got a list of things someone asked me. The first one was, do you think marijuana is a help or a hindrance? It's a help. Okay. Explain why. so like for example for what like as far as overall health overall health the whole night not just sitting there smoking it and getting blazed because not just getting blazed and like hey you know i see spaceships from bay here when i smoke this no i'm just saying like what will it help you uh accomplish will it get you uh health healthier what it uh help with what does it really help with glaucoma? Does it help with pains and things in your body? Now, my question, another question, so you're going to wrap this all up in one. What's the difference between CBD, marijuana, and just medicinal marijuana? Right. Medicinal, sorry. Got it. Those are all amazing questions. And the reason why he's asking this, guys, is I'm also a certified cannabis nurse. So, again, holistic, nurse. And, um, you know, I was consulting with people on introducing cannabis, whether it's CBD or THC into their health regimen. And, and, you know, they're on these medications and they have this ailment and what strain. So I was going down to the strains of what to recommend for them, depending on what's around the dispensary. So I did that, um, a little bit, um, before I did IV hydration. So now cannabis, it has helped a lot of people. Now, The reason why is cannabis is a natural anti-inflammatory. So it does the job of Tylenol, of Motrin. You know how when we reach for that Tylenol or that Motrin, we have a headache. It's because we have inflammation in our head. Okay. This is just in a nutshell. When you have pain, something is inflamed there, whether it's nerve pain, right? There's inflammation. There's somewhere that's tightening and pinching your nerve. Headaches. There's an inflammation there. High blood pressure. There's inflammation there. anything. It's probably in our arteries. So cannabis is a natural anti-inflammatory. And so that helps decrease that overall. So that's why it helps with arthritis pain, glaucoma. Glaucoma is because there's an inflammation, there's pressure behind the eyes. So cannabis gets in there and decreases that pressure because it's decreasing the swelling. So in a nutshell, that's what cannabis is. Okay. One more question before you don't, Please don't lose that spot because, man, you are really taking people to class right about now. So now my question is, is it better to smoke it or eat it? So that depends on you. And that's the beauty of cannabis is there's many routes to ingest it or smoke it. So you could vape it. And it's your preference. It's really your preference. So you could vape it, you can smoke it like in a joint or a bong, a pipe, vape it with those vape cartridges. You could ingest it with through edibles. And it really depends on what your goal is, what you're trying to relieve. So a lot of my patients that have anxiety, that thing kicks up quick. Okay. Right. So you're having, you're like anxiety and then panic attack. So what works fastest? So you're looking now at how fast it'll hit you. So when you vape it or smoke it, it hits you in about 15 minutes. So you're looking at that rate. So that's why a lot of my patients that do have anxiety, they tell me they prefer to smoke it. Okay. Because they feel the effects within 5 to 15 minutes, and it lasts maybe 45 minutes. Okay. Depending on if you continue. And it brings you down. And it brings you back down. Okay. Yeah, so then you're looking at the rate of it, right? Now, for pain, there are people that have arthritis pain. Or like for me, in the beginning of the pandemic, I taught myself how to use a sewing machine, and I was sewing. I just wanted to put needles in things. So I developed tennis elbow, and I was like, oh, man, is this 40? Okay, there, I just told you my age. But is this 40? So I started having tennis elbow. Wait a minute. Now, we're going to take pictures. And I'm going to let you see. She don't look like she's 40. Nice looking lady. I'm telling you. Appreciate that. Nice looking lady. So, and 40 ain't bad because I'm 41. So keep going. Well, I'll be 42 in April. Oh, she ain't that wrong with it? She ain't that wrong with it? 40 is the new, I'm telling you, 30 is 40. 40 is the new 30. See, I'm telling you, young folks think y'all something. Y'all don't know crap. But anyway, keep going. I'm sorry. Yeah, so where was I? Oh, so I had tennis elbow. Tennis elbow. Right. So what helped me was creams. Okay. So THC and CBD, and I'll talk about the differences in a second. Good. But it comes in cream form. Okay. Also. So you can put that, and that's more targeted. So if you want to localize it and target it right at that pain area it absorb and it helps that area any inflammation that there cool so there creams there edibles cbd and thc and that has a longer duration it takes longer how longer how well how long does it take to kick in and how long does it take how long uh lasting is it right right yeah so it takes about depending on how fast your metabolism is. So I always tell everybody, everybody's different and every body is different. Okay. So it's about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your metabolism. Um, and it lasts about two to four hours, depending on how much of it you had, whether it's, and I'm talking more THC, that, that edible high. And it does last quite a long time. So you have to find your threshold. You have to find, all right, if this gummy is 10 milligrams, I think, and I'm lightweight, I think I'll go with 2.5 milligrams. So you're cutting that little gummy in fours. Oh, man. So if you just take a whole handful and just, you finish for a little minute. I'll see you tomorrow. Okay, dang. All right. See you tomorrow. Okay. You'll have a nice nap. So you sleep. You're done. You don't try to think about you're going to do something else. You're going to eat them gummies and crash right there on the couch. Yeah. Okay. Well, depending on the dosage. So now that is more like that helps a lot of my cancer patients because they have like this general pain in them or they're not eating enough. So it's infused in their food. OK. So, yeah. So those are the different ways you can take it and the differences in a nutshell. Right. And we can go into more depth. But you have a question since you said cancer patients. Now, the lounge does have cancer patients, and I am so thankful that they are around. Breast awareness, the pink ribbon, we survivors, great things. I put my hands and clap my hands to them because I've had a couple of people that I know that were breast cancer survivors, and I'm so thankful for them. Now, you said cancer. My question is this. does it help with the cancer as well as taking pain away? Or is it almost an ailment of curing or does it just soothe? Right. And that's a great question. And it does pretty much all of the above. Oh, okay. Yeah, so it helps with all the symptoms. A majority of the symptoms you have, whether it's the nausea, if you're on chemo, If you're not eating because chemo, you don't have an appetite. So a lot of patients do refer to cannabis to create that appetite. Pain, it does that as well because, again, it's anti-inflammatory. It helps with sleep. And there are some curing effects to it. There's some research out there. But I do want to say there are a lot of curing benefits to it. And that's probably from my own experience. And, you know, so I totally believe in all of that. Hey, I love it. I love it. I love it. So, ladies and gentlemen, you have learned a lot here. Goldie is one of the best people around. Lounge listeners, thank you so much for listening to us. This has been another edition of In The Lounge with your host, Chase Stone. Last call for alcohol, and now we're out. That interview was fun, and I learned a lot that day interviewing my beautiful friend Goldie. I wanted to revisit that episode because it is my favorite interview I have personally done to date. I hope each and everyone who listened to this episode was not only entertained, but somewhat enlightened. Peace. Thank you.
