The President of the Seals Mountain and the Power Strikes Back Okay we're gonna put all the wood over here and the metal on this side Mommy daddy Leo Dad Dad what is it did you get a signal out No I... sorry We ran the whole way Come on Jake What's going on? Suitcase What did you say? Show them Jake Leo found a suitcase in the trees. The trees? Tell them about the footprints. There were footprints. That fresh footprints. Could it be Marie or someone in her crew? Did they actually make it to the island somehow? I don't think so. We lost her boat when the island started to move. Also, boats don't fly. That's very true, Leo. Maybe it was left behind by an isle or someone else who worked here when the island was built. It's a man's clothes, and it all looks like it was just packed. Waiting suit? Flip-flops? Look! A tablet! Ugh, not charged. That's definitely a current model, though. Jake, those footprints you saw... Around the tree where we found the suitcase. We should follow them. Come on! Hang on, kiddo. Why? Because we don't know who this person is, and because Ned is still in hibernation mode. Like a bear? Yes, and we don't know for how long, which means getting off this island before he wakes up is still a priority. Maybe whoever this person is can help us. Or maybe they need help. I mean, their suitcase ended up in a tree. That's a good point. It's just, without knowing who's here... But the footprint! We know, Leo. We just have to decide whether to build a raft or search for the person. Do we, though? I mean, we're Robinsons. We can build and help. I say we do both. Hidden Island, Season 2. An original audio adventure. Episode 2, Not Alone. Mom and Dad loaded up supplies on a blanket from the house Ned built for us, and we got ready to head off into the jungle. Okay, I think that's as much as we can drag with us. Everybody grab a corner of the blanket. Me too? No, Leo, you and Moo are our scouts. You walk a step ahead and let us know if there are any obstacles in the way, okay? Got it. Right, Moo? If anyone gets tired and needs a break, just let us know. Where exactly are we heading? We're going to follow those footprints, but also look for a spot close to the cliffs where we might be able to build and lower down a raft. Just another day in paradise for the Robinson family. Only it wasn't just another day. Yes, it was the morning after we were almost rescued. Yes, Ned had gone into his slumber. And yes, it seemed like there was someone else on the island. But also, it was my 13th birthday. Not that it mattered. Not that anyone else even remembered. And it was fine. Really. Watch out. We've puddle ahead. Good looking out, Leo. Why is it so muddy? It's raining. Oh, right. If we were back home, I'd be having a party today. Mad science was supposed to be the theme. I've had it planned all year. There'd be dry ice experiments, slime, Maybe even a baking soda volcano. Ironic, right? Since I'd just been inside a real volcano. Well, sort of real. Big tree root. Easy there, kid. Don't want to slip and take out the whole family like bowling pins. Right. One foot in front of the other. Amelia, you good? Uh-huh. Why? You're awfully quiet. Just thinking. Less thinking and more walking. Most of the time, I loved being on Taranitian Island. It was a marvel. A man-made landmass with a multitude of ecosystems. And it moved. And look at all the things I'd gotten to do. Explore, climb, conduct experiments I could have only dreamed about at home. I even started a school. And the time I got to spend with my parents and my brothers? Well, I never would have gotten that at home either. But after almost getting rescued before my birthday of all days I was missing home My real school friends Hold up, Leo. Colin, look! On the thorn bush! Huh. It's a piece of someone's shirt. It's not weathered at all, it's... Smells like it's fresh from the laundry, too. Whoever's out there passed through here not too long ago. Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! The island is shaking again. Pretty mild this time. Are we back on the moon? I don't think so. Let's keep walking. Ah! Watch out! My birds! Whoa! What? That was definitely weird. No? Yes. That was weird. What's that? Something's coming. They look like lemmings? Very big ones. Out of the way! Let me stampede. Shh. Hey, where are you guys going? Wait, wait, wait, wait. Shh, shh. Froggy, you're here. Leo, look behind him. A whole lot of frogs. Oh, wow. Mean frogs are solitary animals. They don't travel in packs like that. Maybe they got lonely. Dad, why are the animals acting like this? You said maybe it was from the island moving. But if it's not moving anymore... They all seem to be fleeing in the same direction. Fleeing? From what? I don't know. Usually everything on this island feels... purposeful, but this is all... messy, random. Whoa, it's getting slippier! Everyone, find a walking stick. Something solid for balance. Watch out for any more rodents, Tampines. With the rain coming down harder, the blanket with supplies was getting almost too heavy to grab. Iz, we might have to ditch the supplies and start over somewhere else. Wait, Dad. Look where we are. Ned's cave. This is where you found him the first time? But it looks... different. Yeah, was there always a river running past? We'll worry about that later. Let's, um, let's get out of the rain. Are we sure the cave door's not going to close on us? Not with Ned in hibernation mode. At least, probably not. Come on, Moo. I promise I won't plug you in this time. Okay, drag everything inside. We stepped inside the cave, and Dad managed to get one of our homemade lanterns lit. Perfect place to work. And we're not that far from the cliff down to the beach. We can start the raft here and build in sections. What about the new person? We'll find him, Leo. Leo, whoever he is. Let's just hope he found some shelter, too. Hey, Jake, what are all these marks on the cave wall? I used to count days here when I was visiting Ned. Made myself a calendar. 23, 24, 25... What is it, Mijo? Jake, is today the 26th? It is the 26th. Colin! Today is the 26th. Ah. Emmy, it's your birthday. What is it? Why didn't you say something? Uh, because we were a little busy. We are so sorry, Em. With Marie's boat and Ned, we... And the island moving. But no excuses. Happy birthday, Emmy. Thanks, Leo. But it's really not important. We've got a raft to build and a mysterious stranger out there to find. You said it yourself, Em. We're Robinsons. We can do all three. Your dad's right. And you know what I like to do when I'm building things? Mom, you really don't have to. I like to sing. You like to sing when we're doing anything, Mom. Oh, you don't like my singing? We love your singing. Of course we love your singing. In that case... Happy birthday to you. Hold on, guys. Guys, stop a sec. Sing, Jake. Don't be rude. Come on. Uh, Dad? Look at the entrance. At first, it was just a few trickles. Then a small string. And within minutes... The cave's flooding. Grab what you can. We're getting out. Careful! The floor is wet! So are the walls! Nice and slow. Baby steps Baby steps Happy birthday to me By the time we got out of the cave, the rain was pouring down in sheets. Panicky animals were rushing past us from everywhere. It's like with Ned asleep, the island was coming unyark. We could barely see two feet in front of us as we held onto the trees to keep from sliding. And the more we walked, the steeper the ground became. Hang on. We must have gotten turned around somehow. I don't remember this hill. But the cave was back in that direction. How could we have gone the wrong way? Jake, you okay? I'm fine. I just didn't see that tree stump. There's three tree stumps. And a... a table? Not a table. A desk. What? It's your school. But our school wasn't on a hill. Did everything somehow slide to a different location? No. Look. Back that way. The old treehouse. How did it all get so slanted? Huh? Dad? Daddy, why are you climbing on the desk? So that I can see out over the cliff. What do you see? Yeah, it's as I suspected. The slant is... It's the whole island. The island is tilted? More specifically, it's sinking. Dad raced to the edge of the cliff and peered into the storm. Okay. Do you guys see down there the beach on the west side of the island? I don't see any beach. Exactly. Because it's already submerged. That means underwater, Leo. Oh. I don't understand. How can the island be sinking? Think about what's down below the surface, Jake. I don't know all the specifics of how Io and her team built this place, but we've seen those giant turbines. We've seen how the island can move, how it floats. Ned. It's all because Ned is asleep. He must have been involved in the island's stabilization systems. When's he gonna wake up? We don't know. If he doesn't, the island will continue to tilt. It might even tip over. Or sink entirely. We have to get to the highest point we can reach. Leo, do me a favor. Get the clear water bottle from your pack. Here you go. Thanks. Now, I'm going to fill it up with rainwater almost to the top and just leave this little bubble of air. Why? See what happens when we tilt the bottle? The air bubble moves like a level, the kind we use to make sure shelves are straight. This way, I can keep track of the island's slope, see how much it's increasing and how fast. Looks like we're about 15 degrees already. If it keeps going at this pace... Yep. We got it, Dad. Up we climb. As we hiked upward, the ground kept shifting under us. Keep climbing! The breeze were bending and cracking. Leo, hold my hand. Anything without deep roots was basically sliding down toward the ocean. Everyone, don't stop. My heater's stuck. The mud is pretty deep. I've got you. Look for handholds. We were at almost zero visibility, so we felt our way along. Scrambling through brush, slipping and grabbing at anything that would hold. Vines, branches, each other. And just when it felt like we couldn't go any higher... What was that? Whoa. What happened? My stick hit something nettle. Help me clear the brush. I got it. It's a plane. Single engine. Well, I guess we know how that suitcase got up in a tree. Must have fallen out the back. Is someone here? Hello? Anyone? Hello? It's empty. The wing's pretty banged up, but the pilot must've gotten out. And when looking for his suitcase, where's he now? Okay, let's, um, let's maybe not hang out next to a giant metal tube in a lightning storm. We'll move under the low canopy. That's where it's safest. Under these trees there we go You know we never finished what we started in the cave You mean the raft? No. Happy birthday to you. Mom, what are you doing? What do you think I'm doing? I'm singing happy birthday to my little girl. Now? It's still your birthday, isn't it? Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Yeah, so I spent my 13th birthday hiking in a thunderstorm on a sinking island. How about you? Yay! That's my girl! Emmy, look at the present I got you. It's a rock tied to a rope? No. A rock with muddy eyes drawn on it? No, it's Professor Pebble. He's here for your mad science party. Leo, you remembered that was the theme for my birthday? Of course. You said I could be your lab assistant. And a great one you'd be. What was that? Animal. It sounds scary. Uh, careful. There, under that bush. It's a javelina, I think. A what? A javelina. Right, Dad? Good call, Em. It's bigger than usual, of course. Looks like a fuzzy pig to me. They do look like pigs, but they're actually from the Peccary family. Anyway, it's stuck on that branch, but I think I can help it. Easy. It looks pretty freaked out. It's okay. I can use the rope from Leo's present. I don't have to get that close. What are you going to do? Remember when I went through my cowgirl stage? You're going to lasso the javelina? Just around the leg so I can pull her out. Okay, girlie. Just hold still. She's not so little, Emmy. Those things can be powerful. A little more and... There! I got her leg! Okay, Jake, help me. Emmy! I can't! It's back around my arm! Amelia! Whoa! Amy! Amy! We're back! We lose the room! We lose the room! Yeah, so I actually spent my birthday getting dragged through the forest by a scared javelina. Stop, please! I'm not going to hurt you! Stop before we vote! Oh! You stopped! Thank you! The javelina stopped at the bank of the river, only it wasn't really a river anymore. Some trees had fallen across along with a bunch of branches and other debris, forming a dam and turning the river into a lake or reservoir. The water was getting higher and higher. Okay, friend, I'm Amelia, and welcome to my birthday party. Let me just get this robe off my wrist. There. But when I untied myself from the javelina, she stumbled back and fell into the swimming water. Weren't the javelinas supposed to be good swimmers? Oh, swim to the side. Okay, need more help? I'll just lean over and... Ah! I can't hold myself up. Too slippery. Help! Somebody! And just as I worried no one would be there to help, a strong hand reached down and grabbed mine. Dad! Thanks. Don't let go of my hand. You're not, Dad. Just hang on, okay? Okay. I got you. Who... Who are you? Shh, it's starting.
