•Dec 19, 20255 months agoSummary
The hosts discuss major automotive industry shifts including Mercedes' luxury Unimog revival, Ford's cancellation of the F-150 Lightning in favor of plug-in hybrids, Porsche's decision to continue gas engines in the next Cayman/Boxster, and regulatory rollbacks on EV mandates in the EU. They also cover Nissan's expansion of Nismo performance variants, Hyundai/Kia's theft settlement, and personal car purchases including Filippo's mystery Porsche and an inherited 1972 Ford pickup.
Insights
- EV mandates are being rolled back globally as automakers and governments recognize that pure electric vehicles face market resistance without subsidies, leading to a strategic pivot toward plug-in hybrids as a transitional technology
- Luxury and performance car segments are rejecting full electrification; even premium brands like Porsche are investing heavily to keep internal combustion engines viable, indicating consumer demand for traditional powertrains in high-end vehicles
- Product planning failures at major automakers (Volkswagen, Ford) stem from disconnects between corporate strategy and market reality, with companies pursuing platforms and technologies that don't align with actual consumer preferences
- Brand confidence in automotive design has declined; modern cars rely on aggressive styling and technology displays rather than understated elegance, reflecting insecurity in brand positioning
- The used car market for specialty vehicles (Polestar, Viper, Cayman) shows extreme volatility based on availability and sentiment, with manual transmissions commanding 50-100% premiums over automatics

Hello and welcome to this car, Pa. I am Kenan. I'm Filippo. There's a lot to cover. Let's start with the news. Ha. Unimog. Okay. This just was announced like earlier today. So we don't necessarily have all the details. What's the story? Okay. So we're celebrating 80 years of the Unimog. You, we're all celebrating. We're all celebrating. It's a, we're getting it a dinosaur shaped person. Yeah. It's in my calendar. So Mercedes has made a like one off modernized luxurious version of it. Okay. That's pretty leather has LED lighting. Okay. kind of six cylinder engine. Okay. All the automog things. And they are apparently testing it with some customers, at least one customer, for the next year or so, before deciding whether to build it. So they're, it's not like a concept. They're truly trying to figure out, do we want to build this as a standalone model? Do we want to invest in this? And so they're doing some tests for about the next year. So you know with customers. This is cool. Absolutely. And this is, I think I speak for like the, whoever like oversees like their Middle East Division of like, like, like, build it. Go, go, go. There are customers who will buy that. Go to the site. Do you remember when I reviewed that? Of course. A couple of years ago on Cape Cod for God knows what reason. I reviewed that one. Yep. And see it changed my life. And that had just a four cylinder. Was it a four cylinder? Yeah. I didn't feel like one big cylinders. Historically, the, the, you have a 5.1 liter in line four. That one may not have, but this thing was so cool. Now, I will say it was more commercial truck than like personally, like it had air breaks. What was it go down to see if he's actually read about this four cylinder? No, that one did not go up. It was a four liter one had a four cylinder six cylinder. The new one for some will have a 7.7 liter six cylinder diesel. Wow. Wow. That one was incredibly cool. It looks like a modernized version of it, but it is cool as it looks. Like it really was like these are like snow plows and they are not like it looks like Oh, I want to have one of those. You don't. Yep. You're like climbing stairs to get in. That's like what it is. But this one will have a high grade leather. I trust stitching leather floor maps. Oh, so you know it looks serious. Yeah. And virtual mirrors. That's the arms fortunate girl by one for sure. Yeah, I want that. It's so cool. He's off that stuff. He's like driver on escalators now. Every time I see him, he's on an escalator. I think he'll still have this with his stogie. I can see it. Virtual mirrors. So it's not coming to the States. Yeah. Of course. Well, they're running sure they want to build it. The news article that I saw said they were giving it to one customer for a year, which feels like somebody that really, really paid. How cool would that be? That was cool. You live in Switzerland. You get this for a year. You cruise around. You're the only person. The only person. Yep. And it's worth it. Well, I do think it's neat that Mercedes-Benz has a product line that stretches all the way to this. Yeah. BMW and Mercedes are purportedly in competition. But come on. Right. Come on. Agreed. Agreed. Right. Well, that's the biggest news story of the week. Let's. Down over here. The actual biggest news story of the week. As we reported a few weeks ago, as the Wall Street Journal reported, there were rumors that Ford was going to cancel the F-150 lightning, which is their electric pickup truck, not to be confused with the F-150 thunder, which is their loud. Nice. Nice. They have confirmed they are going to cancel the F-150 lightning. And Jim Farley did a big thing about how Ford really is going to start to focus on extended range EVs. I presume that that means his plug-in hybrids. It was announced also that their just general hybrids is going to kind of be the focus. Importantly, they're extended range EV, which there will be an F-150 version. Right. It will be driven by the battery, but with a range of sending engine. You know, I hate to say it. So not like them. I hate to say it, and you hate to say it. But plug-in hybrids always kind of made the most sense. If we're really being honest with ourselves. And the F-150 power booth, get truck. I just, I'm going to plug-in, book-in. Get truck. Yeah. Expanding from this further, thinking about it in a historical context. I wonder how we're going to look back at this area. It is such a weird era of flux to go from fully-be back to plug-in. And I agree. Plug-in realistically was the correct choice. But eventually, it's going to go back to fully-be. Yeah. So I'm going to point it out. So it's like a weird progress dip and then back. Well, you look at globally. And globally, EVs are clearly what's being chosen by people. About 25% of new vehicles globally. I mean, both in Europe and in Asia, which is where the majority of these things are, sales of vehicles are happening outside of North America. And that's only increasing. And so yeah, I'll go back. But yes, it is a weird period where we did a false start on EVs. And now we're rolling. Everybody is rolling it back. We've read it a little. Ford to Porsche, everybody's going to. But we talked to RJ three, four months ago. And he was like, this is short-sighted. And he's got a bias. But he's also probably right. If you look globally, no matter how much you're like, and EVs are stupid V8s forever, you got to see what's coming in the future. And it's pretty clear where it's going to go. And by the way, don't forget that in 2008 Chevrolet came out with a hybrid SUV and a hybrid pickup truck. Nobody bought them. Yeah. And there hasn't been a hybrid Tahoe or Silverado since. That's because I was in V8 with a nine-fold to it. It was still. There was a surge of movement towards hybrid. Ford had the escape hybrid that was incredibly successful. But then the subsequent generation didn't have one. There was a little bit of an ebb and flow. The exciting range EV will be cool. There was a middle generation when there wasn't. Which one? The not-curdier. Don't want to come like 13. Don't doubt my Ford escape hybrid knowledge. Accenture AGV will be cool. The wheels will be powered by the battery, not by the motor. Yeah. Fun. They had to write off $18 billion. Some insane. Some insane. $19.5. 19.5. Crazy. Because they've invested a ton in this and they're basically saying this isn't going to be successful in the near future. They're probably not wrong. They are also investment in hybrid as Doug mentioned. Also investment in smaller hybrid vehicles. Yeah. And now they don't have any small vehicles. You know, it is interesting. Small. One thing we're going to look back on this era and think about is how much of the EV demand was generated by incentive. And I think Ford is looking at the picture and saying these incentives will not continue. They don't expect it to continue. You have to imagine a lot of political future predicting going on in Ford boardrooms and in strategy sessions where they're thinking is there going to be another Republican after Trump? Are these things really going to, and based on their decisions, they're probably thinking these things aren't going to go back. The EV incentives are probably not going to return quickly and in large numbers. Yeah. And I will say Ford's investment, we talked a couple of months ago about investment they're making like a universal platform for cheaper EVs. That Ford is going to build a pickup truck on and a bunch of other vehicles. They're calling it their universal EV platform. They're still continuing to invest in that. But what Jim Farley said yesterday announcing this was the $50,000 plus EV market isn't there. They think the low price one might still be. It is interesting that there are driven certainly. There are $50,000 plus EVs that seem to be selling pretty well. I stopped in November, December. But aren't Rivians still selling? Aren't EV 9 selling? We see those. I see McConney V's OK. I do wonder. I think a lot of those vehicles were developed when incentive structures were different than they are now or are developed primarily for other markets where EVs are more popular. But nonetheless, it's an interesting thing to just write this investment down and be like, well, it's over. Ford presumably knows that this is going to be coming at some point. But are they thinking that it's 10 years down the road when technology is going to be so different that everything they've invested already is not worth it? I do think, I mean, Jim Farley has done a more public CEO. He has done a lot of interviews, especially in the last couple of months. And he has said very publicly that he thinks a lot of Ford's EV tech is just not competitive. So I also wonder whether there's a little bit of, we're going to give up on this EV vertical and invest in these other things? Well, shall me. Sure. What are you, Mark Kess Brown? He did a big review of a show. I did a review of a show. I get a text from a buddy in the other days, hey, what are you reviewing a show? I'm like, I sent him my link. I'm like, dude, what am I Google? I did that. It's good. People watched that. It was teal in color. All right, move on. You know, more people watch Mark Kess's assault. Oh, my God, Mark Kess, beat me. What is this? This is the successor to the current Cayman Boxer. Wow. This is obviously not what it will look like. This is a development. Talking about cars, we've walked back to EV situation. Right, yep. So we knew, and we've known for a little bit now, that on top of developing an EV version, because originally the 1717 successor was going to be all EV. Yep. They're going to continue the current four cylinder powered 1718 Cayman and 1717 Boxer. Great. That's everybody likes it. That's everybody likes it once. The four cylinder. But they've now said that they have, but they're behind the scenes doing a time at development work to fit gasoline engines into the EV platform. So on top of continuing the current 1718, which might be the 982 generation nobody does, no, the current one is called the 92. Right. I'm going to tell you a story. The 983 will be both EV and gas, but they're having a ton of work because they developed it to have a giant battery for, yeah, as part of the core structure. Yeah. And now we'll also have a engine. Yeah. Tough. A lot of engineering work behind that. Even separate from this kind of pullback on EVs, a lot of people were saying five years ago when it was rumored that they were switching this car to EV that there wasn't going to be a market for it. And I think that was, I think it was always a mistake. I think even if EVs were full speed ahead and we had elected a Democrat who was still pushing it and in North America was still strong and globally it was still strong, I think this still would have been a mistake. Probably. And so, you know, too bad. Yep. And then I want to say, come on, it's a shame they can't read the writing on the wall. Of course. What EV sports car has ever been desirable? There have been none built. Even the rim act in a Vera at a million dollars is not desirable. Even the I aid, even it used 35,000 dollars people aren't biting. Like come on. I think that there is maybe an unknown market for an EV sorter. You're right. It's unknown. We don't know anyone who's in it. I think they're called the market. It's generally, truly. What has a bigger market? The Nissan Armada Nismo, which I'm reviewing right now, or the electric boxster. No comment. It's a race to the bottom there. It is quite a testament to how long they think that it will be before EV sports cars the most desirable option, that they are not just saying, we'll continue the 718 for a couple of years. They're saying, we're going to invest tens of, not hundreds of millions of dollars to fit a gas engine in what we have planned. I know that I will tell you how long it will be before an EV sports car is desirable. They're just massive. They carry the one long time. Never. Long time. I don't think it'll happen. For me, I don't know. I'm open to the idea of trying one. But I don't know. Even when I drove the early Tesla Roadster, it was cool and everything. Was it a great driving experience? Not really. I mean, do I want that? No. Do you find a fourth-order PDK? No. Well, the other thing that has been announced is that Porsche is going to it's a German who's not going to put in electric shifting in their cars. If we're not putting it in, that makes no sense. Recifations? You'll actually want it to be worse. That's exactly it. They were interviewed and said that it's less efficient. It's not as fast. It's not as good, well guess what? You mean where there are sounds that you can then shit, like the Army 5N does for it. It's just rhymes though, it's a feel. No, it's like a feel. It like, it rocks a lot. The Army 5N shifting is the greatest thing that ever happened to electric cars. There are two great things that happen to electric cars. That and the Chevy S10 electric. I'm familiar, I don't have that. We have not. We have not. Almost like. If we did, we'd talk about it daily. We sold some S10s, but no. We never sold an electric S10. What if you have an electric S10, which I doubt we do? What even are we? Is this a real business if we're not selling electric S10s? How many are around? You know who hasn't sold any electric S10s us and also Chevrolet? No, they sold five or eight. Well, to universities. Never personally. To universities in 2003, there's a 31 mile range. And if it was cold, it was a nine mile range and it went and drove it a walking pace. Anyway, all that's true of the electric boxers. Well, I am so pumped for this thing to go back to gas. I don't care if it's a forest cylinder. If they do another four liter. And by the way, this looks pretty cool. This looks like at 9.11, but the boxer, I mean, they're trying to disguise it, but it's got some wide hips, which we liked about the 987. And let's bring it back with a manual. We do want it. Yep, gas and manuals, bring them back. Chargers coming back with a V8. This thing's coming back with a manual. You're going to V8? You got to assume. No, they don't have a... Trump's run the country. But we got Republicans. Got a full trading, everything. It's got a hurricane. A hurricane, by the way, is a great power to have you with that too. There you go. Have I driven one of those yet? No. You got to get me in one of those. All right. If you are FCA, let's get a dog get one. That's the thing that's called FCA. That's going to be your biggest problem. Stellantis. Stellantis. You're right. Wow. Tough moment. Tough moment. These people all worked for Stellantis, CDJR. All right, move on to the next one. That's Shopify.com slash cars. Yeah. He's still thinking it's called Eagle. Oh God, what is this? All right, the EU has for a long time been saying that by 2030, they basically will, excuse me, by 2035, they won't have any gas powered new cars. Right, they were requiring a 100% reduction in CO2 emissions from 2021 to 2035. They have basically today reverse that plan ban. There's some, some like logistical government stuff to sort of happen. What is the prize? What are their new rules is that they need to cut it to 10% of 2021 levels. So it'll still be very reliant on a lot of cars going EV. It'll still be very aligned on plug and high rates, but a lot more room for gas. I might give you a little hand. They're going to roll that back, too. Yeah, agree. Oh, agreed. That is the new story. What is China's current percentage of EVs? It's like 50 some percent? 53.7 percent. Even China, which essentially is creating a new economy and new infrastructure and all that, they're only at 53%. Now they got 10 years. The EU's got 10 years. Although that clock is a ticket, by the way, they can also offset based on the new rules. Up to 10% through the use of low carbon steel that's made in the EU, through e-fuel and biofuels. EU, they make steel in the EU. I think they want to. Low carbon steel, no less. Boy. So in other words, walking back a little bit, leaving still kind of pushing for EVs and low emissions. But, writing on the board. Did they walk back? Did they give a new target date for zero emission? Are they saying 24-E? I don't think they have. Incredible. V8s will still live in Europe. On this graphic. That's the 18th car. What are... They're a V8 for sale. Porsche in Switzerland. We have that turbo V8. Mercedes AMG has that turbo V8. There are Swiss people who still are buying V8s. Yeah. And Italy has those Ferrari and Lamborghini cars. Right. Interesting cars. Yeah. You got to wonder, you remember when they used to heavily neuter the cars for America? Like the 308 would have, like, there'd be an America version because of the cats and all this. And there'd be a Euro version where it just breathed. Yes. They're going to... You ever wonder if there's going to be, like, a Temerario, John Tamarion, where they do, like, a four-cylinder for Europe, because that's all Europe seems to have been. Hey, BMW, David E30s. E30s. With the In Italy. In Italy. Oh, and Portugal. Yes, yes, with the S4. You know what I'm saying, though? Like, do you wonder if there's a chance that someday they realize, like, there are still market demand for these big old motors, unless just do them for those countries. And the weenie countries who want their pu-ree-ve only, they can do that, too. So, Antis tried with the charger. It's a flip-ski of the 80s. Well, yes. I mean, but... I mean, this has been going on for a while. Like, America has kind of become the vast and manual transmissions. But... But the automakers are not giving us different... Like, I'm talking John Tamarion, four-cylinder in Europe, John Tamarion V-type. I bet it will happen. I bet it will happen. It'll probably happen at least a little. Yeah, I agree. I mean, some of them... It would not make sense to make to do for the John Tamarion, because the volume is low, but... You got to assume, like, Mercedes and BMW will eventually be forced to stop selling V-8s in Europe and they can't completely... It's already true. What are the C-class trims here? It's a C300, which is a two-fourth-year-old. Yeah, all those... Right, like, those also exist there, but nobody bothers them. But that's a take rate on them is so low that... It fundamentally, they don't need to exist. Yeah. But Panamera Turbo and stuff. Do you think... I guess my question is, one day, will there be a Panamera Turbo that in Europe is a EV or a plug-and-hybrid two-cylinder? I think so. And in the States, they still run with the old motor because they still can. I truly think so. By the way, we'll finally get the 80s back. Those bad bumpers... This is... This isn't a poor... It all comes back around again. Yeah! I support those bumpers. By the way, this is very proud of this image, so... Yes, it's a carbureted V-10 that appears to be bleeding. Is it a 10? Yeah, one, two, three, four... Oh, yeah! Yeah, it is. It could be a V-9. You don't know. It does appear to be bleeding. I don't know where we got this picture, but... Geez. So anyway, this... Every story we ever talk about in news is either a new car that's being revealed and is amazing or automakers and governments rolling back EV mandates. Let's go to the next news story. Let's hear about more EV numbers. No, no, no. Not EV man is the opposite-ish. Nissan, company that's doing well, is going to release 10 new Nismo models. To 10. 10. That's it. I want to be... Sorry, I'm going to say something. I think we have five in there. I want to say something to those watching at home. Right now in the office, we have this car. It's sitting right over there. It's the Nismo Armada. Because you know what, that's EV needs. Large body on frame. It's crazy. They're doing a... There's an off-road high-performance version of the Armada already, and that's true of every full-size-of-the-Tahos-E71. It's a criteria, you pronol it. But they're doing a street performance version. The Nismo Armada. Well, we love the Jimtie Cyclone. That was a tiny little truck. And it doubled the power. It's a tiny little truck. This is a 6100 pound car that has... A hundred horsepower, it'd be cool. A 6100 pound car that has a Nismo body kit and a rear spoiler. It's great. Obviously, in my opinion, this is the Lincoln Blackwood and the Morano Cross Cabriolet of our generation. Is there more power? There is 35 more horsepower. That's going to be like 5%. And the engine, as you saw earlier, there's a plaque on the engine that says that it was expertly tuned. By the factory. The regular... Not the engineers, by the factory. The regular Armada is just tuned. This one... Oh, don't do that. Is expertly tuned. Okay, well, regardless, there will be at least five more... What else are they coming out with? All right, so they're apparently five right now for sale globally. There's going to be going up to 10. 370Z Armada. The Nissan Z is not 370Z. The Nissan Z, they're Armada. In the trouble variants of the ARIA, the EV. There's an ARIA Nismo. We don't get that. The Skyline... We don't get the ARIA anymore. That's the problem. Trump killed EVs like the great ARIA Nismo. The Skyline sedan. Pull up a picture of the ARIA Nismo. Good luck spelling it. Yep. A-R-I-Y-A. I-Y-O-K. Skyline sedan. Yeah, apparently. Okay. Oh, we're missing out on this. Nissan Europe. Oh, my God, I was just making fun of the Europeans. I hope they still sent the X-Trail, which is the rogue, has a off-road Nismo edition. Okay. Not in the US. Let's come out. What are the new ones? We expect we being the community of Nissan enthusiasts. A leaf Nismo. What? I'm not joking. Is that the best or the worst on your little list here? Well, there might be a central Nismo. It's not going to... But they have teased one like standalone-ish Nismo model. Because Nismo still goes racing and so that thing they might have to do something. G-R-G-T rival. Right. Well, they're really testing the strength of the Nismo brand. Dude, there is no Nismo brand. It's going to be big. You know who's going to buy these? What can you say? Uber Black drivers who... Would they go to the dealer and there's a better discount on this than a regular armada? Yeah. That's who's going to buy these. Yeah. It's like the Avalon TRD. It's likely to be true. That's true. That are Nismo-ified. Well, I can't wait. Okay, next. Oh, yes. So this is an Audi G-T50. Now, this is a concept car that Audi has made based on the RS3. Basically, every now and again, they let their apprentices kind of just let their minds go wild and build something cool. We're marking 50 years since the Audi 5-Sonder engine came into existence and so to celebrate that. It's at 14 of the young apprentices wild on the RS3 to make this. The things I found interesting, the roof comes for an Audi 80, which I think is a very weird thing to use. The rest of the car is made out of fiberglass and stuff like that. Now, they said that they aren't going to build this, obviously, but nonetheless, I think this is a really cool looking concept. We don't build the cool stuff. They don't build the cool... We build the Nismo Armada. They're like, let's... The young brains go crazy. They've built something cool and then we say, we put it away. We go back to making all the hatchbacks and slow cars. That's the same Q7 and the hottest segment in the world for nine years. What's the story with that? Can you figure out something about that? You got your little bike shirt on. You got any insight? The fact that they've sold literally the same Audi Q7 for the last nine years. Explain this to me. The Volkswagen Group. The Makan has been the same since it came out. The Q7's been the same. The Q5. These are the hottest cars they have. The Q5 got redesigned this year. Instead they're coming out with the Q4 Sportback and stuff like that. The ID4 Sportback and the Sportback Sportback. Maybe this you love that apprentice is like... Do you want to do more of that? I don't understand that. This is cool as hell. Obviously, of course, we're not going to get it. But they want to tell us about it. They want to tell us about it. They want to say, we could do this, but instead we're going to do more sloping roof EV. I was at the RS3 as cool and it is still 5-souls. That's awesome. RS3 is cool. I mean... Imagine if they built this. It's so neat. Which one? I think people would buy it. It would be EV. Like all the Renaults that are... No, it's a Turbo 5. It's commemorating 50 years of the 5-souls. I don't know. They owe it. I mean, if it were to... You know what the problem is, really? It's regulations. Yeah. They would send this for sale tomorrow if they didn't have to get it crashed and all that. And that Trump fellow, the guy who's in the White House there... That guy. G.E. said that he wants K-Cars. Let's show him this. Let's get one of his people that Stephen Miller fell over. The weird looking bald guy. Let's get him... Be me the Stephen Miller to the choice. What is he not... Is he not that? That's him. Yeah. Let's get him to be interested in this. I wish I'd. And then he takes this to the Trump guy and the Trump guy's like, I want these. What would Trump say if he saw this? I like that car. I like the little X's got little X's for eyes. It is. Really cool. Well, he's from... Stephen Miller is from LA area. He probably grew up in the car scene. Oh, he grew up in the car scene. He was probably fast and the furious. Dude, he probably was the kid who had the jettah. That's like based on Stephen Miller. Danger to manifold. Danger to... When he drove off at Race Wars because he didn't want to give up his car, he probably went to Washington. Okay. Fall to our next news story, please. Oh, here's a man in front of an SLS. Yes, so it's 2012. No, yes, this gentleman is the head designer from Mercedes AMG. I mean, he is stepping... Or the chief designer. He's stepping down and he's being replaced. Now, he actually gave us quite a few great notable designs. He gave us the SLS AMG. He gave us the AMG... SLS AMG, he gave us the AMG team. He's been working there that long. Yes, there's some things to do with that. But he gave us some questionable designs. He gave us the EQE and the EQS, which you like. And... But the market doesn't. I'm looking at this guy's wiki and he did the W221. And so as far as I'm concerned, he is an absolute master's genius. He's the only great automotive designer who's not Italian. In the history of Owen... That's an interesting point. Because... Yes, what all automotive designers should be Italian. Yep. We did the art class. Well, that's a good car. Well, he can't win them all. No, he did. He did win them all. So, I decided that this means that there'll be a departure for, like, the vision of Mercedes design going forward. But, you know, they said they wanted to be the... What is it? The bad boy or whatever? That was him. That was him. Well, maybe that's why they fired him. That's a bit much easier. Although, they didn't say he was fired. He's only 57. My hope is that this man goes and works at a company that's bringing V8s to the people. He was fired. That's pretty clear. But, yeah, but Bastion Bounty, the head of AMG design will become the head of AMG designs coming right up. So you were right. They wanted to be the bad boy. You're right. It says he steps down. It doesn't say he was fired. I believe everything that large corporations tell me. And I think that the Mazda 6 diesel is still only a couple of months away. So niche, I love that. Yeah. He is stepping down effective now. Yeah, effective immediately. Speaking of people who are out, go to the next news story. We have Jerry McGovern, Land Rover's guy. We reported Jaguar Land Rover head of design. We reported he was being fired last week. This week he's not fired anymore. Not fired anymore. It's one of the wilds. They discovered what severance they would have to get in contract. Totally. They were like, oh, wait a minute. You're back. I mean, their statement, which came about a week or two weeks after the actual news broke, it is untrue that we have terminated Jerry McGovern's employment and do not intend to further comment on speculative stories. How do you think that called offending, sorry? No. Well, what would happen is they realized that they did something very wrong from an HR perspective and would be too. Something weird happened. So it was reported and we reported, including two weeks ago, two podcasts ago that he was going to get fired. They didn't, when asked by other automotive press at the time, they had no comment. Now, if you're not fired on the dude, your comment is, what are you talking about? We're not fired on the dude. Yep. Then they came out two weeks later. Oh, we're not fired on the dude. We decided, they were firm if you still work there. JLR is in turmoil right now between the Jaguar shake up and the hack and whatever. Never is going on here. This is a situation. It's a tough year. This is a situation. And I'm sitting here, all I want is a new Valar, like a new redesigned Valar. Oh, yeah, that would be nice. And they're out here doing all this corporate drama. Come on, folks. We need a discovery sport. We need a discovery sport. You know, a good one though. A good one, which has never, it hadn't happened yet. Oh, has it. I'm good. But he may or may not still be employed and may or may not have been fired. All we know for sure is that he definitely was fired and now there's legal action. That's all we know for sure. I think that it's all, I think that he, again, I believe the word of multinational conglomerates. When they told me to stop driving the Khriragetee by God, I didn't drive that car. I certainly didn't put 4,000 miles on it between them. They told me to stop driving it and when they told me I could drive it again. Oh, that would be reckless. That would be reckless for God's sake. JLR, nice to have you back. It was a tough two week hiatus, but we're so glad you're back because we love all your designs, except for all the jaguars. Did he think he did the eye paste? Because if so, not a fan of the eye paste, but the XC looks good. You agree that if he did the eye paste, they should have just fired up men and saved themselves the trouble. Although they're doing the oh my god. What's happening there? Our next new story is people hanging out of an a launtra. Yeah. Yeah. The key of boys appears. The key of boys. Hyundai and Kia have reached a settlement. So for all of COVID turns out base model especially Kia and Hyundai very easy to steal because they didn't have a mobile. Yes. And they went out on tech talk like how you would steal it and turns out that literally any child can. Pretty much. They have reached a settlement that will include Hyundai and Kia offering to add in a mobileizer and they can't change the existing for any model that is impacted. And fortunate all those cars have been stolen 10 to 20 times by now. Yeah, I mean they don't exist anymore. The thing about class actions is that you just get into these situations where the people don't actually get the money that they deserve. Supposedly they're going to fix the cars whatever but like this is this was really improper behavior from a corporation to be honest. This was clear that it was going on. This is an obvious thing that immediately it was discovered. The cars started getting stolen. Everybody's honey. Kia's got stolen. They couldn't get insurance for them anymore. Hyundai Kia dealers were sketch about oh we'll just replace it and fix it and it fixes and go right back into the world. This turned off a generation of people from buying these cars. An enormous number of people who bought Hyundai's and Kia's did so because they are easy cars to get to work and they walk outside and their cars gone because it turns out you can steal it with a spoon like a Honda from 1991. I will say there's also- It's because you speed drive. Whatever it didn't matter. Only for the baseball they didn't have a mobileizer somehow. I will say part of the settlement all future Hyundai Kia's must have a mobileizer which I thought that was true of all cars pretty much turns out. And also they might have to pay up to $4.5 million restitution to people whose car is sold. $4.5 million is nothing. Nothing. They said they sold 9 million cars nationwide. Most of those were not in. No that 9 million cars. That 9 million vehicles were sold between 2011 and 22. They were still selling these cars going in. I mean come on, they started being reported in 1819. They still sold for years later after. Yeah, everybody gets nothing. Yeah, basically. And they pay some fine and whatever. What's going to actually come out of this is again, a generation of people is going to say I will never buy another Hyundai and Kia. My sister who has never owned a Hyundai or Kia has said that she would not, she would now not buy a Hyundai or Kia's result. Yeah, she's not into cars. This is like, came out of the blue which is unusual. I've definitely had people tell me that and I have definitely recommended these cars to people who then had problems and have they held you live. No, but it just reminds you at the end of the day why you recommend Toyota's and Honda's to people. You try, you desperately try. You tell your parents to get a link in MKC and they do and then they get run over because they press the wrong button. And then they accidentally leave it on in the garage and the battery dies because they don't understand all that. And if they just had a rev for that, what happened? Yeah, Honda stopped getting stolen in 1998. Everybody knows that. Honda's. Yeah, yeah, 97. The 97 accord was the last accord that got stolen. Now, if you see 97 accord on the road, you can steal it. I think that's, I think it's just settled law that you can just factual. It's just you're a good accord. It was a good accord. It was a good accord. It was a good accord. Although I personally prefer the 86 to 89's. 98 to 0.2 else is pretty solid. O3, the best accord, the best accord was the O3 to 07. That could have been a court changed the world. We're not going to agree on this. That was peak accord. O3 to 07. Move on. They did that hype. We're going to fight. Okay, today it's time for the talk cars segment. Sean is looking at me. You better say what I wrote. The talk cars segment is sponsored by the Peterson Museum and specifically the Peterson auctions. Folks, if you're into cars, the Peterson Museum. The Peterson Museum is auctioning some really cool experiences on cars and bids right now. These will make great Christmas gifts. You can buy them. There are several different cool car experiences that you can bid on and buy from the Peterson Museum. Check it out. Carsandbids.com. You can go to the, they'll be on the main page, but you can also go to the Peterson Museums. Use their name. You'll see them there. Experiences. And you can buy it for your car obsessed. Yeah. Friend or foe. At the moment, there's a formula one experience at the United States Grand Prix. Which is in Texas. Which I don't know if you've got anything for Christmas. Sam. This would be nice. It's already four grand. Oh, God. There's also the last one did. There's also a guided tour of Jay Leno into Malone's collections. Okay. And you could also be taken for a ride by Bruce Canapa in a Porsche 935 Laguna Stake Cup. Well, that's legit. 935 is a legit car. Look at how thick it was. Bruce can have a legitimate event. So also the Peterson, great, great place. If you're in a good place, go ahead and play. We love the Peterson. They are sponsoring the talk cars segment. It's Fleepo's bicycle shirt. No, it's the Peterson experiences. The Peterson experiences. Okay, I have nothing in the talk cars. I went today, but you. Yes. I bought a car. More to come. It's not here yet. I've paid for it. It is on my insurance. Wow. It has yet to, it is getting picked up from the seller in the next, it's a shipper. So who knows? Next few hours or days. Next few hours. Next few hours. Next few hours. Next few hours. Next few hours. Next few hours. And it will be here at some point later. You're not going to say what I know. No, I'm not going to see it. Can we guess? No. Accurately. You actively know and you actively know. So no. Lincoln LS 3 later with the manual. I will say I'm not sure either of you any photos of the vehicle. Mazda MX6 V6. No, because you can MX3 with a small V6. Oh, I do like that small V6. I have two liter. 1.8. Really? Yes. That would be honest. Paid for this car. Paid for this car. It's not here. Not here yet. I believe it when it's here. I agree with that. To be honest. I agree with that. I agree with that. I won't want to it's here then we will celebrate and I am very happy. I'm in charge of the future. I'm in charge of the future. I'm in charge of the future. I'm in charge of the future. We have a good one. Is it a four liter Jeep? Is it a four liter Jeep? Just tell us that. I think the audience deserves to know. No, this is a true bonafide sports car that is well outside of the realm of anything I've ever had bought. It is close to two and a half three times the most I've ever spent for my cars. It is more than I've spent for all my cars combined. Is it a Lincoln Mark 8? No. You would consider that a bonafide sports car though. Don't you agree? No, this is real. I'm excited to share more about it once it's here. But now this is really a tease because next week's podcast we are doing questions because we're not going to film it for Christmas. You're not actually going to announce the car that you've bought until Friday January 2 or even are you going to do that? You won't even be on the pod that way. I won't be on the pod. We're not going to know about the car until January 9. We have to tell the audience what the car is. The secret. Is it a Ford contour SVT? I'm not that cool. That would be cool. All right. Philippa, you're folks, Philippa bought a car you never know what it is. You will find out. I want to, you won't have the full experience. You'll never know what it is. The full experience includes Philippa not telling us for a while. If you want to know what it's like to be friends with Philippa. I'm very excited about it. And I'm excited to do that one. I'm excited for you, Philippa, if it shows up. If it shows up. If it shows up. No, it'll be show up. By the way, it's been a great experience. Volvo 440. The podcast too. Volvo 440. No. Pull a picture of Volvo 440 and zoom it ahead. It's a Porsche. Oh my God. You're a Porsche guy. It's not a Macon Turbo. You're a Porsche guy just like the rest of us. Pull up. Pull up. Yeah, this one, this one, this one, this one. Zoom in on it because I think we might be able to actually talk to him into getting one of these two. I do love a good 440. I've never, I've never laid on it. I've never seen one. No. You must have seen one. I have seen one of the young children. Okay, that's Philippa's big news. The other big news is Philippa has also been handed a car. What's the story with that? Yeah, all right. So I mentioned last week that my wife and I have inherited a old Ford pickup. Yeah. I was thankfully wrong. And I went out to see this past weekend with an Arizona. It's a 1972. 1972. Pre-small exemptions. It's so lucky. It's so lucky. There's a ton of new parts in it by late father and I was a mechanic. Like he did a ton of work. Does it run? It apparently ran a few months. You were there. I didn't. It was two-started. It started. I don't think it looks, I wasn't there for that long. But it looks like I might need to install a starter and the timing needs to be set. But that's all doable, especially on a truck like that. That's not a hard task, truly. You definitely shouldn't start at the timing stress. Yeah, I agree. That's why I did a not too. Why do you think what about it makes you think the timing is... Well, there's a timing light. Which is why you would have used it. Like what mechanics use inside the car. My brother-in-law who helped my life I don't work on it, let me know that they hadn't gone to that yet. But they ran, I think it's not that far off because of RAM. You're not setting the timing at all. No, no, I will have to get it to San Diego somehow and then bring it to a shop that knows how to work on old four trucks. Upside is that it's not hard. You say sport trucks. Four trucks. Oh, but that's hard. In a way. Yeah. And then we'll have around time. So you're going to have a Porsche of some variety and an old four-trip. 1972 Ford F25 Ranger. You've got the blue plates, dude. You have to. Oh, you have to. I don't think I can order those from DMV. We'll figure this out. Where there's a way. Your other update is about the GTI. I don't think so. So I'm going to keep you going. So I bought this car. You bought this for your car. And I have this Ford F250. We're all poor. You got to hold the mantle. No more porches. No problem. As a group, we can't accept any more. I'm going to sell the Fiat. We did a little series, Doug and I did a Nick out on a drag strip. And on a track that included my Fiat. I'm going to sell it when that video goes out. I'm also going to sell the GTI. Philippe Posellum is GTI. It's going to be on Carson Bay to the end of January. But it's such a good car. Well, that's the best. We drove it legitimately 1,500 miles in the last five days. It's so good. GTIs are good. It's just such a... Everybody hated the market. And they were wrong. I truly, truly think that they were actively wrong. It's an incredibly good daily driver. It's incredibly comfortable for 500 miles at a time. It's fun to drive. It's more powerful than you expect. The interior is comfortable. Are there things that got worse compared to the Mark 7 shirt, though? The interior is a little bit less nice. But it's such a good car. I want to be clear. It's such a good car. When the GTI hate market was going on, it was first revealed. If you go back and watch my video, I did not hate it. No, I know. Everyone else was like, this is the worst thing ever. Does buttons or it's backlit? So it's an awful car. They were actively wrong. I'd mean actively wrong. The tech isn't... I'm not going to sell it. I'm not going to sell it. It's not. It's not. It's okay. Also, base trim has a volume knob. Even still. But it is, I don't know why. It is such a good car. Yep. Truly. But that's the thing about GTI's. They're all good all-round cars. That's what they're... That's why it's kind of hard to get away from those engulfars. If it were my most valuable car till the Porsche, I would keep it, maybe. I can't believe you bought a Porsche. The audience is going to collectively world-erize and so am I. By the way, bought it, generated the 13, 2025. It's won the auction. I haven't even had it. It's selling it up. January 13, 2016. How many miles? 12,000, nine. All right. I am currently at 32,000, seven million. Wow. 20,000 miles on this car in a year. Yeah. To get a car. Well, I'm glad you liked it. I also like it. I think it's great. You're going to end up absolutely under no circumstances. Do I want it so good? You're going to end up replacing your station wagon too. It's a station wagon. Stick around for a bit. We can't change every single car. My personal belief, though, is you're going to decide the station wagon is a car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. I'm going to start with the car. that are not like problematic, but it's a 11-year-old car with 120 miles. Yeah. The market doesn't think it's worth that much. It is. It still has value. And also, the GTI is not quite big enough for a life. Okay. So the wagon sticks for now. I think you should get an E400. Type in E400 wagon. By the way, I think everyone watching should get an E400 wagon. If you're watching the pod right now, that one, that one specifically, because I love these wheels. If I could have these wheels on my car, they are the best wheels because they are the most subtly plastic. They're the most subtle wheels. They're just say, I am rich and I do not care about you. Are they plastic? They are the best wheels. Go back to the main page, back to the other one. You would go over these wheels and be like, look at my sport wheels. No. No, you're missing the point of the car. I think there is a chance the wagon leaves in the next year. And for one of these. No. Filippo, how would you not get one of these? This is the, honestly, the greatest one you've ever seen. Ever many times. My wife loves the GTI. She feels ambivalent about the wagon. But the wagon, we agree, makes the most sense for a life. She had this car. She would not feel even more. No. No one is ambivalent about this car. No one. Yeah. Everyone who has one of these is obsessed with it. You don't want to think she would like a Range Rover Diesel. Oh, four or five. Oh, no. Sometimes I can't. Hey. No, no, no, no. Yes speaking of Mercedes-Benz's, so my SL65 was currently in the shop getting some stuff done and it's first visit to the spot. I'm getting a bunch of stuff done, I'll do a video on it, it'll be on my YouTube channel, but it's its first service which makes me nervous. Anytime you take a Mercedes like any aging German vehicle, when it goes in first service is always like, please, please, please, please. Nonetheless, I'm happy to get done whatever needs to be done and then it'll come back, then I'll be driving it again. But so far the car has been great. You're doing drive belts, couple. There are a couple, yeah, a couple known things I have with the car. So one is the the drive belts, the serpentine belt was pretty cracked. It was very old. When you do that, I'm also going to do the pulleys because the bearings were out over time. I don't have any record of it having been done in the past and I have most of the records. So doing that, and then it's got the windshield washer reservoir I know is leaking. And so I'm replacing that. So a couple of things like that. So we'll certainly see. But you're replacing the reservoir? Yeah. In terms of one of the tubes, this is very common with the R230 chassis. Mine, especially, I'm not joking. Yeah, I don't suspect they changed. That's not how that looks. Put a little tape. Well, I'm doing it as per the usual. I'm doing it properly. So I don't, we'll see what it had, how much it'll be when it comes back. I also learned we're going to do alignment. I'm going to have the wheel bearings are adjustable on the R230, which I don't know what that means or how that works, but those are being adjusted and realized. So, um, guys, so a little work on that. A little work on that. So, otherwise you are thinking about getting rid of it for a viper. You know, I can't, yes, you were not elegant about how you said that. But I was going to get rid of the S.O. I have to say, you know, I drove it a lot the other week and I really enjoyed it. The engine is a masterpiece, but I just can't stop staring at it. I'm staring at it now. We have a viper at the McDonald's Viper in the office and I just can't stop thinking. I did dream I bought one. Wow. The other night. And so I'm like, as much as I look at the smoke face. You climbed a few years ago that you would have the S.O. till car week. No chance. And I stuck partly. Did I say Valentine's Day, right? Valentine's Day. Yeah. I don't know if things last in that long. See, S.O. I don't know. It is a great car, but like the viper is just so cool. So I don't know. You got to keep it for about a year. You know, there were people before you bought the S.O. Some people who said you should have gotten a viper. Well, there were none on the market like it. They were available. Pull out the remember the contacts. They were on the market. Type in Viper RT slash 10. They were none. What about this one? What about this one? That wasn't around at the time. I bought it in October. And the one about the one before it that wasn't October. That was November three. Dude, yeah, we'd listed in October. You're welcome. Well, no, I'd already gotten a car by that. I was like, it was October 28. I got a bunch of these. Let's keep scrolling this one. Maybe I should have. But it had a reserve on it. So I couldn't. Look, my point is flexible. My point is go down. My point is there were people. And by the way, there's there's that other website. Auto trader.com. Cars.com. That's where I found cars. I'm telling you is you could have had an RT10 and you should have. And now you regret it. And you popped up. It was like, there were just, I, so I'm, I think I've also decided I'd want a Gen 1.5 or a Gen 2. Really? Yeah, the Gen 1's just don't like driving around in that car. That car is supposed to be quite a bit better than the Gen 1. And it's crude at best. So what do you think that is a 1.5? That's a 1.5. So I'm saying a 1.5 or a 2. The 1.5 is interesting because they only made it in 96. And they're only the special color ones. That the white one. And I think it's over, but I can't remember. So a Gen 1.5 would be amazing. I like that one. Honestly, that one would be pretty great. But you're saying it's crude. I don't understand. You're saying it you I'm saying a one if that is as crude as I think is a one must be more like they're not the less than just. They're not that different. I look great. It's not my it's jumping power though. I think it goes up to 400 and how about a 90, how do you say 97 blue white return? Those are 100 grand. Those are 8800. You spend real money to get a real car. Carol shall be dude. I shall be. Yeah, I mean, I don't want to spend quite that much. I also I want to convert it all as much as I like the GTS. But I think what you go and get an open roof. Well, you're not a convertible a barcat. As far as it is. But I don't I just I can't stop thinking about the Viper. I just think I want to scratch that itch as great as the S. Wow. And it is a great car. You agree spring. It's gone. Is it even in a last till spring? Wow. That is big. Folks, if you're looking for a white SL that's just had the surp belt replaced and the washer fluid reservoir, this is the car. Can it sell it to you? And he wants a Viper. Oh, see, but I we ain't see a nothing. When's that Viper girl live? I'm going to tell you something. In the future, can you guys just listen to what there wasn't one or a Nick brought it to me and it was the right car. It was cool. And I really want to catch your new body car. You bought a car that you should have bought two years ago that I told you you should have bought two years ago. And you're now salivating at the idea of a car that you should have bought a year ago that I told you you should have bought a year ago. And I didn't say either of you should buy a GTI or an SL6. Yeah. We all were at one breakfast when he brought it up. That's true. It was raining here, remember? No. Yeah, do you remember? By the way, even if I would look two years ago, I don't think I could have found the car. It's so interesting. Both of you. Oh, they didn't exist. I don't know. I was around at the time. Why? They weren't there. Are you saying your car's only a year old? Your Porsche that you bought as I was saying it didn't exist? I was saying that there are none for sale at any given moment. And it took the car on our year to find it. Well, so there's none for sale. It took the car on our year to find it. It's a crazy car. There actually, I think, are more crazy. It's a crazy car right now. I thought, no. 959. Yes. No, I think about a San Yellow kind turbo. You bought a coffee. That was the one you got to wait for. So you're buying a Viper, you're selling your SL. I'm not selling it. Can I just suggest something? And I'm dead serious about this. Next time you think about a car, just come to me and ask what you should get. And I'll tell you. And then you can save all the trouble. Last time I didn't ask anybody, including my wife. And we've all loved it. So I'm just going to keep going with that strategy. Oh, that's fair. OK, we got to move on to the market report, which is an interesting place to look at. He's looking at Viper as well. We're moving on to the market report. The market report this week actually has a sponsor. It's brought to you by Kenan's regret. It runs deep. Kenan's regret. When you buy something, but should have bought what Doug said, did you not buy what I said just to be just to because you didn't want to give into that? No, it's because it was around. It wasn't around. It wasn't around. They were pulling no Viper's around. Not a single Viper was available in the whole of the winter and fall and spring. I was looking for first jins and they weren't popping up. They didn't exist. The Viper had. There was a hiatus. What happened was there was a hiatus in Viper's. They took a little break. The owners went, I know what I have and they kept them. That's what happened. The market report is brought to you by Kenan's regret. Speaking of regrets, can we talk about the IDP? IDBuzz. We had an IDBuzz on the site the other day. By the way, I love the IDBuzz. I think it's the coolest car in sale. We had a first edition on the site the other day. Scroll down how many miles were on this vehicle? 18800. Basically a new car. Where is it? Was that Wisconsin? India. India. It was bit to and did not sell for 42,000 United States dollars. The sticker on this was what? 80. 65. 65 for a first edition? 67 including destination. Yeah. Yikes. Now, normally I'd look at this and say cars and bids. What a horrible company. They can't even get anywhere near sticker. I would say that. But I've been on auto. Yeah. You've seen what sticker it. Let me tell you something. There are dealers with brand new ones that have never been sold to anybody that are asking not much more than this. Nope. Needless to say, the IDBuzz hasn't really been the rip-roar and success we were all hoping for. Because the bid to price is where the sticker price should have been. Also, they should have the short version and maybe they should have had more than the 200 miles of range of health. At this point, is it just pride that they're not bringing the short version? The short version is obviously what would cure the ails of this car. But they made a product planning decision. Volkswagen over my lifetime has made the worst product planning decisions of any car company. And so you have in some. And so here's another bad one. Exactly. No. Volkswagen. And so it was a 5 on the Passat making it a luxury car instead of a camera competitor. It was a 4-reg. It was a 4-reg. It was a 4-reg. Taking the 4-reg and instead of going after the Highlander trying to compete with the M-class, the B5 Passat was exceptional. It was, but it made no sense. Volkswagen wanted volume at the time in the US and they couldn't understand why Americans weren't buying a car, a turbocharged Passat that was 8 grand more than a camera. But then they did it with NMS and failed. Eventually they were 4-3. They were 10 years away. They were 15 years away. They failed. The Atlas. Yeah, 20 years after they actually should have. They should have called me back then. Much like Ken and Shoda 6 months ago. Atlas still. And for a generation still staring at that paper. And here were you said. To be fair, we're talking about this. No, it's not the answer to me. This makes me sad though. Because I wanted this to be a success total. I think it's so cool. And wait, do you see them around San Diego, which admittedly is not common. This is the market for them. I think they're so cool. One of the coolest new cars on sale, maybe the single coolest new car on sale, short of like million-dollar stuff. It's so cool. But the market just does not want it at the $68,000 price point that it's at. And this no sale at 43 seems a little low to me. But I suspect it's a little low because people are looking at this saying I could go by a new one at a 45 or whatever. For 45. Right. Could I see them? Would you buy one? Yeah, a couple kids. I would. I even asked my wife the other day, would you be interested in wanting to choose like I would drive it. You know who should get it? It's Nick. Crazy Nick should get one. No, you should get one. I would seriously consider it. I think they're cool. So let's go together. We'll go to the next one. I can do the ship. I'm not interested in a new one. I think if I were to do it, it's like a year, 18 months from now when they're probably like 37. But I'm not I'm not I'm not a. My wife is like V number one candidate for an electric car. Yeah, she's ever driven more than seven miles in her life. And and these are they're cool and they got a lot of space and I think it'll be an exceptional choice. Yeah. Yeah. Um, so I don't know. I don't know. It makes me say for 43. It's pretty. It's getting appealing. I'm real appealing. Yeah. But it also makes me wonder then will Volkswagen ever take a risk like this ever again? Well, I think it's do okay in Europe. When I go when I go to Europe, ID buzzes and ID for sure are everywhere. Sure, but I mean, all right. This is what I'm sorry for this one. Well, I don't know. That's what I'm worried. So then we just refreshed Volkswagen Toulos and Allis is where they're the only thing that changes the new light bar forever and perpetuity forever. The Atlas is just when if I know someone's not into cars, they drive their own Atlas. That's true. Yeah. Like if you just know someone's like, I don't know what the car I bought a Volkswagen for. I don't know what it is. Something that's you can say whatever we want because no Atlas. No Atlas owner is currently listening to this pot early, Atlas owners. You think they're early as who like mod them? They're like dropping them. Yes. Yeah. Truly okay. Wait, wait, we auctioned one. That was like that. Really? I think so. Didn't we? Oh, damn. 96 hundred bucks. That's how the use market appreciates the Atlas. This is the only good Atlas ever made. It looks like it's a quiet. It does. I don't hate that. All the Volkswagen fans, we appreciate you. All right. Let's talk about green manual cayenne again. Very briefly because I don't want to do a whole lot. There was a separate green manual cayenne. We had a third one, so for four. We had the right number by the way. I feel as if you this as them coming down. I view them as this one's worth less because of spec with a little worth of modular hire. Yeah, but also the market's seen them now. People aren't going to go as crazy. Forty still a ton of money for a ton of. I know. What is your old, what is a $15,000 car? The life of 15. If it was an auto, it's definitely. Nine thousand dollars. Yeah. Agreed. I mean, it's still a huge premium to pay. And I think it's cool. I think it's a neat car. I remember in like we, Ken and I both have been working here for quite a while. I remember in like 2021, we sold a couple of manual kions. And there was one that was Auburn metallic that sells for $26,750. It's down there. And that felt, if you still defer a manual, dude, I know. I remember that car. It felt like so much money. That was such a good buy too. It looked so good. It was this one right? Oh, that's taking that one, but that one too. That one sold for 30, which was the first one to crack that. Should have bought that. I mean, most of the. It's over the wheels. 89,000. Yeah. I guess that's not that far off market. Well, that felt so high. And now that we had this like second peak of the nicest, most interesting ones selling for $125,000. You don't think $75,000. I'm not. That's a first trend. That's a. I'm not the kion stick because it's not that fun to drive. But like for 25, I don't know. It's a cool portion. And it's like, yeah, the eat the eat to, which is what we call the kion when I work there. It's technically called the 92 A, although Porsche Louise have named it the 958 themselves. The 92 A kion, which came out 11, has proven itself to me. In my mind, like that's been around for 14. It's been around for a long time. They've redesigned it, but it has only gotten uglier. And I still like the 11s the best, the 11 to 13, 14s the best. And they've turned out to be pretty reliable. One good fact has nice cars to drive. I still want to perturb it at some point. I really like this course. Have you ever legal yourself and felt a little freaked out by what's out there? Data brokers can legally collect and sell your personal info, your name, address and phone number, even details about your family. People search sites in particular make it easy for anyone with a credit card to access that information. And that can lead to scams, fishing, harassment and even doxing. That's why I used the lead me. If the subscription service that removes your personal info from hundreds of data broker and people's search sites, no hassle, no guessing, just results. I like the lead me because they've been experts in PII removal for over 15 years. They handle everything with their own secure tech. And real privacy advisors are available whenever you need help. Personally, it's been a huge relief to see exactly what info was out there. And now delete me keeps it cleaned up for me automatically. That's joindelete me.com slash demuro code demuro. Oh, what about a proler? No. Can we talk about the proler? You have the proler on your list. I would like to talk about it. No. Prolers are not appreciated by the market. The market, you guys are all, of course, wrong. It's the market who is wrong. My theory is that although we all think that they should be worth something, they will never be worth anything. Go back to go to this one. Go to that red one. How is that a $22,000 code? It's a, that is so cool. Chrysler product with a, look at that. The Okra V6 and an automatic. Yeah, but how is that a $22? Look at this. This is a concept car. I'm telling you, you do that. You do the V8 conversion. I like rock, rock. I think the proler is the, absolutely the least amount of money you can spend to turn the most heads. It is the coolest thing in the world. I am a massive proler enthusiast. I think they are so, the fact that this existed in the era of regulations is crazy. I agree. It seems like people are willing to spend about $25,000 for the best ones. I can't believe it's 25. Folks, people are always writing into us and saying, what's the best car I can get for 25? Prouler. What if I have kids that I need? Prouler. I'm looking under for them to trailer. Under 40 grand. Here's under 40 grand. And I'm in Canada and I'm choosing between an M3. Prouler. This, this, this, anybody who is responsible for this. This segment is sponsored by Yuri of the Straight Bits. He's got still his, I think he may have sold it. We like you. It is the coolest damn car for this money. It is so, and don't take off the bumpers because part of what makes this car cool is the fact that somehow from a regulatory perspective, they got the government to agree that these bumpers were an acceptable alternative to actual technology with no bumpers. Also look at that. This car is so cool for $22,000. How is this a 22 car? I remember when Yuri was selling heads and maybe he had sold it, maybe he hasn't. He was like, I can't put it on an auction site because the market doesn't really support the value that I think it's worth. And he was right. Wow. Look at those seats. Go to the seats. Go to the interior. Look at these seats. You could be sitting in these, in these comfortable thrones. Where the headrest is also the roll bar. Ignore auto stick. Ignore the fact that it's got auto stick. The world's worst transmission. This is a cool car. Philippo, you, why don't you get one of these instead of whatever Porsche you got? Philippo, Prouller. I don't buy automatic cars, but yeah. You got, dude, let's do a stick swap. Me and Keter will do a stick swap with a couple of cold ones. What would you swap it from? What would I swap with? There are kits to do this. Hellcat. I put the whole Hellcat drive train in it. That'd be good. It must exist, right? They got stick Hellcats out there. They would eviscerate that chance. It does exist. Yeah, we call it the Heller. If you have a. The problem. The Heller. Pro. Pro. Sell it here. Dude. You're here. Dude. Folks, Prouller people, none of whom are watching because they're all boomers, right? Prouller people, I love you. I love your cars. I want to come to one of your Prouller rallies. The one they happen in Tulsa and they all come with their trailers. And I just want to be part of it. I'm not even, I'm not kidding. I'm not, I know I'm sounding like an idiot as I often do, but I love this car for $22,000. Have you reviewed one? A long time ago, I want to review another one. Philippo, find me a Prouller review? Eight years ago. Find me a new mail truck to review. Oh, I know. Find me a six cylinder new challenger charger, whatever. It's, by the way, I was corrected. The mail trucks are not built in Wisconsin. Oshkosh, they built stuff. Caroline. We discovered that. They're built by non-union labor. For God's sake. I couldn't put those back in the labor. Anything about that? Driven by union labor. God. I can't believe this car exists. Nick did some political stuff on the road. Oh, did he? Yeah. Oh man. They killed it for you. They killed it for you. I'm not saying that it's a political direction. It's a seesaw. He starts by saying he wouldn't buy anything from Bezos and then he eventually goes off the other way. Anyway, it's a ride. Enjoy. Okay. What? You'll see. I know his life. He buys things from Jeff Beach. No, he says he does it by himself. He does it by himself. But the time for the questions, the questions are sponsored. The questions are sponsored by Philippo not telling us what car he's getting for three weeks. We hate it. You hate it. Welcome to our lives. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't tell people what it is until I see it in person. I haven't seen it in person. That's what I think that's fair. I actually think that's what I mean, I know what car it is. That's what I'm saying. Maybe you shouldn't have mentioned to I don't know it's here. But what's the fun? I think he wanted people to get off his case. This is actually a pretty good limbo period for Philippo. He bought a car so they're not mad at him anymore, but they're not mad at him about what car he chose. I was going to get it. I also couldn't have spent the money. We're not in limbo. You could have just said nothing. Instead of like what people were annoyed at was that you would just flip flop back and forth between cars. But I think if he had said nothing, it's still Philippo hasn't bought a car. So now we know he's bought a car, so we're happy. And we don't know what it is yet. So we're not yet mad at him. Because inevitably when people find out what the car is, they're going to be mad at him. He shouldn't have mad at me. He shouldn't have said it was a Porsche, honestly, because people are going to be mad already. We already look like a Porsche podcast because I got two of these stupid cars. Well, I don't. I look like Jerry Seinfeld. I gave two options for the kinds of cars I would consider and they were both Porsche's. I think it was known. By the way. Seinfeld made her unbelievable point on Spike the other day. I love Spike dearly, dear to my heart. I don't really listen to a lot of pods except for if Whistlin had one I would. I bet his audience isn't really much of a pod audience though. Anyway, they don't listen. They don't read. Horrible to say about our beloved Whistlin. I remember that audience. I love his stuff. There's a short going around where Seinfeld says the problem with modern car design is that there is not any confidence anymore. He could specifically call that BMW. Cars from your era, they designed them in this subtle way that just exuded. We don't have to go and make cars with a shouty to prove that we're awesome because we have confidence. In today's world, the screens light up and red and blue and the giant wheels and there's an em badge in every corner. There's not confidence. I've been trying to say stuff like that for so long and I've said variations of it but never so succinctly and so correctly. It's a lack of confidence. When you look back at car design that we loved so much, these automakers just they felt that they didn't have to shout. And to an extent, there are still some like that. Audi is like that in my mind, it's kind of still. But BMW has so long away from that and that's exactly what it is. They're like, they're back into a quarter and shouting about how cool they have to be perceived as. Which is interesting because you think that the brand equity is so high as it is. It's an aspirational brand and has been for a long time. So why do you feel the need to continue to shout about if anything, you should be even more subtle than my generation? It is an aspirational brand and they don't have to be like that but they are. And in part because they know that's kind of what people want but like there's an argument for like delivering for like creating taste. You know what it is? Yeah. I thought it was a great point. It is a great point. But things do develop over time and do have to get a lot of it. For instance, your tagline this, you watch that Proudler video back, it sounds like your depressions. I have this. I have no confidence. I'm willing to admit that. But BMW. Yeah, a gold factor. Yeah, fair enough point. Their following trends not drive. Not like the leather and what they think. But this is not a lot. I mean, it's certainly not alone. No, no, no. I even think the argument could be applied to an enormous number of cars. I even think Ferrari. Like I think this car is not particularly like, you know, like, you know, like, you know, like, shout out to you anything like that. It's very so. It's like, yes, this is a car designed by a designer who has confidence in what the brand is and what what the buyers will be. The buyer gets in the car. He knows what it is. He has confidence when he drives it. The right people will know what it is. He doesn't care. Now, Ferrari, there's not that. They have to show everybody's got to be seen. Oh, I got to prove to people what I am. And that confidence is lost. Not at that time. Focus groups. That's a smaller number of buyers who are willing to accept this. If they came out with this car today, you and me would go crazy. But a lot of their buyers would be like, nah, you know, it doesn't. It's not cool enough. The doors are usually in your suffering from that. It's more understated than every other Ferrari design. I think people like it less. Yeah. I don't know. It is also so expensive and impossible to get. I can get one. You want to get one? I guarantee we can go to Ferrari today. Get one. I don't know. I don't know. The same Ferrari five years ago. Well, I'm a my uncle's toy and on his other. Well, while, yes, this is the same thing. Well, we can get an order in. Yeah, yes. I get red, yeah, red tan, bass. It didn't used to be that one. I don't know. I don't know. Five to nine. We couldn't have gotten order in. Five to nine. We would have walked in there and been like, sir, how about a, how about a quadriple pork day? That's what you're ready for. Here's speed. Okay. Questions are sponsored by Kenan's regret. First question from Toast 565, one of the great questions we've ever been asked. Completely unrealistic. Don't look at the questions. You st- Wow. He cheats. But why doesn't BMW buy out any uses automotive division? BMW gains a real G-wagon competitor. They're already making the power trains. Ineos gets to sell the same product, but now has a reputable brand backing it. And they probably get out of the financial situation, which I have a suspicion. It's not so strong. I have an answer for this because ineos is sold cars to everybody who will buy one. And BMW buys it. They're not going to sell any cool. Yeah, but I bet you that BMW took the grenadier. BMW could spend real money and develop a baby grenadier, a three row grenadier, a, et cetera, et cetera. And it probably make it a little bit more tolerable for a larger audience. Do like any vogue grenadier that's like also capable, but a little more beautiful. And suddenly have an incredible off-roader today, as opposed to- To be clear, I don't think it's a bad idea. I mean, it would kind of make sense, but this is the thing. That seems logical. Airgo BMW will not- Do it. I don't think it advances on the NM4. They could recreate the grenadier. I don't know. With the way that matches their design. I totally disagree with that. I don't think the grenadier is that impressive of engineering. Have you talked to rich guys who like to be perceived as adventurous? All of them want a grenadier. No, no, I agree that it's a redression. I don't think that BMW wouldn't recreate that if they felt like going down that road. Yeah. I don't think it like advances it. Ineosis. In a short time, ineosis managed to convince all these rich guys that they need a grenadier. You see them around, son of a gun. You see them around and every rich guy that I know on the internet- Oh, I got a grenadier. I'm like, I don't know. Cool. They like the pub. They like the B58. The point is, yeah, and that's the thing. BMW's already doing the powertrain. The car is built in France. They'd have to do some work there. Right. God knows. Yeah, Germans don't like that. BMW parts. A lot of such here, right? It's BMW. A ton of BMW stuff in the car. The infotainment is all BMW. And I think the grenadier brand is already more strong than I disagree. I think that BMW coming out with a XX or whatever they would call a G-Wack and competitor would take some time to build credibility that the grenadier already has. Did they? Was it a bespoke chassis? The grenadier? Presumably. One of the undiscussed thing here is that Ineos is a massive corporation itself and maybe may not appreciate this. They may be like, now we're good. Especially because they've found you from a couple of guys who run the Ineos corporation that decided they wanted a very specific thing. They wanted the defender to have continued in the way it was. And maybe they're not interested in selling and then just losing that market again. Maybe. You do wonder, though. Like BMW wants this. They're already providing the motors. They're already there. They're probably in trouble financially. Do you want it? I don't. Not selling a lot of cars. Why doesn't BMW come in? Integrate some platforms? We got a situation. Why? They got a real land over competitor tomorrow. Why would they build it years ago? They don't seem to care about the market. They're distracted by the XM. Because they don't feel, they didn't understand what made the G-Wack in success. You think they understand now? They do. Because remember, Audi has come out and said they want to do a G-Wack in BMW. Has intamated that? They all realize what made it successful was the boxies. It wasn't a market position. It was a capability and a design. But if they cared enough, they would have built it. You would start seeing renderings. You would start seeing a trickle out. It hasn't. They've got a new chairman now. So maybe he will think differently. Maybe this will happen. I wouldn't be shocked. If BMW is definitely going to go after G-Wack, this is what they should do. Toast 565 is absolutely brilliant. And then make a Unimog version of it to compete with... Yeah. You know? On the subject of SUVs that aren't selling, no bless oblige asks, Hello, what do you think about Harry Metcalf buying a Levante Trophail? Okay. We worship at the author of Harry Metcalf on this podcast. Every Sunday, go to church and then... It's better known as Harry Metcalf. You've never seen a Harry video? Don't you know what the search for? You... I'll be taking... You heard Harry? Harry's going to be a Harry. So that. That's that calf heart. Is that the name of the show? Harry is... Harry is my favorite automotive YouTuber. And I agree with a lot of what he says. He's more into the old stuff than we are. But we have some crossover. There's some English bias, of course. There's definitely some English bias. He's at the... He's at the gas station this morning with his load of C-Lon and never gets wait. It's like, all right, Harry. But he bought a used Levante Trophail with sort of a get-around car. We have often... This is a tough one for us because we have said great things about Harry and we have made fun of Mazurani. Not that you're fair. Not that you're fair. This is an important point. I reviewed the Levante Trophail when it was new and said it was actually a pretty damn good car. It drives fantastically. It is the old... I actually thought all Levante drove pretty well but they were overpriced. And then included the Trophail. I presume he bought this for nothing as a used car. That was his point. It couldn't get over how inexpensive it was. And truly the Levante is a nice driving car and the Trophail was a legit situation. 590 horsepower. Think about that. Turbo V8. Twin Turbo V8. It's not a joke car. And also to be clear, and he makes this point in the video that he did, but he's on Mazurani forever. In the 90s he was buying Mazurani's when no one was buying Mazurani's. He likes that brand and so they have had some bad cars to buy Turbo the Ghibli. A lot of modern stuff. But there are some compelling cars within what they've bought. I would even argue that almost every Mazurani modern one, which we've made tons of fun of, is pretty compelling at a price point. At a price point. Like a Ghibli at 8, which is kind of worth or good. Yeah, we're out there right now. It starts to be kind of appealing. And the Lavante Trophail, Polo Lavante, have we sold the Lavante? We sold a bunch of Lavante. Only we've auctioned two Trophails. The last one failed to mirrors over 40,000. Yeah. Nonetheless, I mean, in the 18 to 24, right? I mean, I've always... 424 horsepower, good looking SUV. Yeah, I always felt that these were attractive. They always were attractive. They look at this. I mean, this is a pretty cool car. Even when you take a look at that. That's a cool looking thing. I always felt they were attractive. I always felt they were desirable. I just never felt they were desirable or attractive at Sticker. You go back to my Lavante Trophail video, video, which was years ago, I make that point. And I support Harry. And I think, once again, the man is brilliant. He's ahead of us all. Yes, and he always will be. He always will be. We'll always be following in Harry's footsteps. That's the smaller, the brick collage. Whatever the sporty one. Also, pretty decent. It's decent at it, but they have it out long enough to have depreciated it. Yeah. Plus Harry needs more space, dude. Harry's got a farm. Moth's got his fine wine. Harry's got horses. He does. He's got cattle. He's going to have a cow give birth in the back of this car. That's what happens on farm. But they are like fine wine. As time goes on and they depreciate, they become much better. Sure. I don't know about that. I think they become just as bad or good, but much cheaper. Next question. Hey, Doug, from Keto 2500, you mentioned on the last podcast that you only want to own sports cars with manual transmissions without, except for a few exceptions. What are the exceptions? Can I in one of you enlighten the audience? Let's see exceptions. I don't know the answer myself, so I'm curious. Nick owns an SLR, so you wouldn't do that. Although before you bought it, you were kind of thinking. Yeah. Not seriously, but yeah, that'd be up there. I don't know. It's a sports car. Storado for sure. Storado. For 30-scood for sure. Swap that. Although less and less everyday. I probably swap it. 575-599 for sure. And then 575 Super America. All those cars I've wobbled. That's the thing. I think the spirit of the question is. Well, what I actually use. Except as an automatic, yeah. Vey. Vey. Well, yeah, you and I, you and I won't want any number. No, it's some number. It's appealing. It's just so hard to own, and I just don't need that in my life. I would own a Vey if I didn't have to do it. If you had tons of money, you'd share on as a daily. You've mentioned you would do. Definitely. That Aston's for a break thing. Yeah. Yes. That vanquish Zagato shooting break would be definitely top. It'd be one of the few. Vanquish Zagato shooting break, Storado 430-Scood. Super America. Super America. What's he saying? Project 8. Oh, yeah. We've been on a big project 8. Pull up a project 8. I don't know if you guys remember this car. Speak of Harry. But Jaguar a couple of years ago made a car with a big cat on the side. And click on that one because it's got the cat really big. And big, the big cat package. This car was, although it looks here like a race car, it was a car you could buy as a person. Yep. And these were sold to people, not many of them because no one wanted it. But it was a Jaguar XE, which is their BMW 3 Series competitor. Good looking car. And it had, it had, it had 590 horsepower. I think, yeah, 592 horsepower. To this day, it's still almost 100 horsepower above the current M3. A decade later. Like this was the stupidest thing that ever existed. And I've definitely talked about and legitimately would consider buying one of these. They only made 300 of them for the world. And that's automatic. Yes. And Harry was very involved with that project. Harry was very involved with it, which actually has meaning to me. You have Harry, Matt, Kaffh, Provenance. Yeah. In New York. I'm serious though. One of my problems with this car, though, to be frank, that I won a reason I haven't gone after it, is that I would want a bigger cat on the side. Yeah. The cat needs to be larger. And I think, I don't know why they did it so subtle. I don't know what they were. The cat goes over half the car. Why didn't I cross to the window? I want a full cat. Right. You know, these were offered, I've discovered something about this car. They were offered with no back seats, but they weren't. I challenge you, internet, to find me one. Well, this one has a cage in it. So I'm guessing this one. There were a couple press cars clearly that were made without back seats. And there are press photos. But when they come up for sale, they got back seats. It's like how the demon you could get no passenger seat and have a bucket there. They all have a passenger seat. Nobody actually wants the car with no AC. Yeah. I mean, it's cool. The painest car with a ridiculous, and I want one so badly as a result of that. Yeah. That's a good list. Thank you. You got any others you want? No, not one. Not really. You wouldn't get a project date? No. Are you kidding? No. You would drive around in a cat car? No. Different. You wouldn't drive around in a cat car? I thought about the cage. I've never had a Jaguar ever interested. But it's got 592 horsepower. People talk about the black wing. This is something I understand. People are all a black wing, a black wing. You know what's got more power than a black wing? The cat car. No, it doesn't. What is black wing, huh? 660. What's the first 592? Damn, the black wing is insane. We should get a black wing. Can put a cat on the side of the seat. Six, I mean, yes. I will point out that the black wing is the next size class. That's one of the reasons. The C-T4V black wing also got it. But it's less power. I still won't work. Of course, that means you're worse. That's the thing. The black wing does exist, but it's still 120 horsepower less than the cat car. Yep. The cat car is stupid, powerful. Yep. And more powerful than a Levantier trivet. I don't want that one. That's probably not anything, dude. Probably not anything. Yep. It's Jaguar's Hellcat. Okay, next question. We have a couple of moments for a couple more questions. Oh, here's a good one. It's about you guys. From Shmirada, Doug, when you were starting the podcast, did you ever have other co-hosts in mind? Or did you always know it would be the current team? In your eyes, what do Canon and Filippo bring to the table? Or what did they bring to the table? Oh, that's what I did. I mean, fundamentally agree. You know, you understand something with this podcast. Okay, we are the number one automotive podcast. That's God. But we only started doing this. Because we were, someone had an idea and Filippo was in the office that day. Sure was. Sure was. Sort of worked out. We didn't attend for this to happen. What I replaced is two if I could. Of course I would. I would. I would. Instead of Filippo, I would have the cat on the side of the project eight. Because you had just an entire project. You would just sit. No, I wouldn't do that. That's ridiculous. Don't be stupid. Just the cat. And instead of Canon, I would have Harry Metcalfe in every week. Worth it. That would be amazing. I'd listen to that. The cat would be a little much, but Harry would be great. I'd be talking to the cat. I would go, yeah, yes. Anyway, how do you think Harry would do the intro? Well, Canon and Filippo, the reason this podcast is so successful, which no one talks about, because no one knows, is that Canon and Filippo were my personal friends long before we had a podcast. To be clear, this is what it's like having conversations with us. We just don't have a screen and talk about the news generally, but I wish the pod was being filmed an hour before we filmed the pot. You hear some stuff. It's just as good. And sometimes way less appropriate. We can't play everything Nick says. A normal conversation. Yeah. He has to hone himself down so much that it's going to be good. To make a pop-up for an editor to physically do their job. So anyway, the answer is, of course, I always knew it was them. There was no other option. It was just like, hey guys, you want to do a podcast? So true. Yeah, all right. We tried a live show for a while. That was in the same thing. Were you part of that? I was in a couple of them. We had some other guests. Were you not a platinum? I've been on every single, I was on all of those in most of these. But yes, yeah, we tried some other things. The fair was our first guest. That's true. Oh, yeah. Yeah. No, this podcast works great because we were all friends before. I've known Filippo since he was a child. I've changed to a library. I've changed to a library. By the way, what's that? 11 years. 11 years. I've known Filippo. That's crazy. No, I've known Kenna for five now. Yeah, and I've thrown you for six. Six or seven, yeah. So crazy. That's why the pod works. When you watch it, and I always see the comments, people like these guys get on so well. Well, the reason is because that's we are worth. It's not easy. It's not easy. I also want to make it really clear. We also all hate each other. But that's not really. No, I don't judge against Filippo. When I know where you stand. Same with Nick. Nick is also our friend. A co-ever else we bring on. It's only my friends. When the company got, when private equity showed up, they were like, you need more people. I can't all be dug. And so we tried some more people. And then what we realized is we only, I only, it only ever worked if it was people I'd liked. And that's why Top Gear was so successful. Those guys, although they weren't personal friends beforehand, they did a lot of work. They were friends beforehand. They developed that rapport. That's not true. They were. They were friends beforehand. But it developed beautifully. Developed beautifully. Work so great. And I think that's why it works so great here. And by the way, one thing we didn't mention, speaking of podcasts, you know. And Matt Farah, who we know whose car is live right now. Matt Farah's NSX is currently on the cars. Like, there he is driving it. Oh, wow. He looks cool. Also, the great picture. Owe wheels. Good choice. That's actually going to be the future day. Back to Owe wheels. NSX, this is a really, really cherry late production NSX. Currently live on cars and bids for you to bid on and buy and own. Super, super, super excited to see this car on the side. I'm so glad he put the Owe wheels back on. Yeah, that was such a great. His looks fine. It's just a really nice car. What's the, what's the mileage to 20,000? 20,000 miles. He drove it a little bit. He told me he got all he wanted out of it and had a good time with it. I love these cars. I've become like the biggest NSX guy. And especially these late ones are just so, so, so interesting. So, so, so enjoyable to drive to use. I agree. Yeah, so. Matt Ferris-Carth. This is a very rare, late, late NA2 NSX owned by the man himself. The king of all automotive. Yeah. I agree with that description of Matt Ferris. Okay. I'm going to do two more questions. Two. For number one, from Bayer of the Controls 7. Oh. Doug, what's the worst or weirdest car that you saw in the background in a rich dude's collection that you were visiting to video something cool? It's an interesting question. Every rich dude whose collection I go to has some weird, whatever. He's got something. There's never been a time where I've walked in and it's just been F40, F50. And so, there's usually in the corner over there, there's like something weird. But I'll tell you the weirdest one. The fellow who I'm still in touch with him. The fellow who owned the Rossovic Diablo 6.0 that I reviewed probably ten years ago. Oh, yeah. He was and is, and he told me this, he still is, a massive enthusiast of the first generation in Fynity Q45. No way. And every time one comes up on, bring the trailer and on our site, he buys and he's bought, he's got ten. In Fynity, what's the first generation? You were generally the only. The LF400 base first generation. I'm talking about, we didn't very rarely sell them, but it's, it's, let's pull up a nice one. The one that's based on the LF400. It's this body, it's this body. Q45. Yeah. He goes and buys, it's not based on the LF100. Is it it? No way. The LF400 generation Q45 shared a lot of parts of the LF200. Who told you this? The fact, who told you this? He's a factual information. The fact check this guy. Anyway, and that was, that was probably the strangest. Did you not know that? That was probably the strangest of the, he got a crazy collection. I also reviewed his Rolls Royce Rath, which was a brand new car at the time. It was like a 400 car, and he had like six V8 original body Q45, very strange, but every one of them has... We all have everything. Even if I, if not, what's the lottery at, Kern, 1.2, 5,000? 1.2, 5. If I won that, I'd still have ether. I would then buy and rescue ClapT39s and save them. That would be my thing. That's where the money would go. Eventually, he'd run out of money. Right. This way, take a large fortune, make a small fortune out of it. Right. Next question from Court to RAN. I want to list, it's a good question for you, Felipe. Ooh. I want to list my 1971 K5 Blazer, but since it's a topless car, I wait till spring or just posted now, what are your thoughts on selling convertibles in the winter? What do you want to say? Are you trying to hit a revenue target for the year? You put it on that side. Get her up. But I think it depends a little bit on the car specifics and where you live. Truly. There is some upside to waiting until things get a little bit warmer. So people like once have the end of winter on the horizon, if you're somewhere that's cold, there is some value that. But I think that that happens sooner than you expect. That does not mean wait till June. That means wait till March, February, March. Yeah. And I think that's true that I also think a more dailyable convertible you don't necessarily have to wait like a 440 out of it. Yeah, but it's not. And also you don't necessarily want to wait if it's a heavily depreciating convertible. Because I don't necessarily know that the four, like if it's November and you want to wait till March, I don't necessarily know that five months is going to be a better situation if you're trying to sell like a new 440 out. Yeah, it's certainly would not be. Yeah, two year old car, you're going to probably lose about as much of depreciation as you'd gain with the seasonality. A 71 K5 Blazer, in all honesty, I would wait on that. I would wait till the spring. Yeah. And if you just take out an old Blazer in the winter, it's like it's called metal, you hurt yourself on it. Yeah, when you're cold, you know, I know exactly what you mean, yeah, exact on it. Yep, I would wait, I would wait till the spring, but I generally wouldn't necessarily on all cars. Yeah, I'm trying to say, oh, sorry, there are some benefits if you, if you sell it, it's convertible in the spring and you're the only guy up with a nice, you know, 987 Boxster spider here in SoCal, we don't distinguish. I mean, we've all bought convertibles in the in the cold months. I bought my 355 in November. I bought the G-Rag and October, the Portia of the Courage of the Teen February. Like we do it here in California, so it's not like that out of the realm, but I think you have a larger audience in the spring for most convertible. Definitely. Okay, last question, final question. You haven't found anything. I have less 425 over. I thought this and I haven't gotten there yet, but there's something there. He's going to get destroyed. There's some competitive companies both trying to launch luxury brands at the same time or like, Hey, let's keep up. There's something there. This is typical. Keep going. Keep going. I got it. I taught him everything he knows about cars. He came to me one day, little boy had on hand and said, Teach me. Teach me. So I did. I taught him. I swear, 11 years ago. Eleven years ago. I was actually accurate, but I can't prove it yet. Okay, final question from Spyro 76. No, let's do from just the tip. We already covered the other ones from just the tip. We've heard that Doug is not a Porsche guy, not an Eson guy, not a G-Wagon convertible guy. Boy, that's true. Not a collector, not a classic car guy, not a truck guy. What kind of guy is Doug? A Sequoia guy? What else is left? He's the type of guy. I don't distinguish. The thing that I think makes people don't quite understand about me is that I love all cars. All cars. Like I was thinking about this earlier today. I cannot think of a single brand whose car I have not either owned or spent like three nights until 3 a.m. on auto trader searching for perfect examples of. There's not a, I've owned. If you look at my car history, which now has 37, 38 cars, it goes like this. Volvo, Audi, Volkswagen, Toyota Ford, BMW, Lotus, Cadillac, Mercedes, Porsche, Land Rover, Nissan. I don't, I don't, this isn't, I don't, I'm not, I just love all, I think a lot of people are uncomfortable about that and try to put someone into a box because they themselves are typically, oh, I only like BMWs, I only like trucks, I prefer Audi's, whatever. And they're like shocked that someone, I'm like this with airlines too. I don't, I'm not, I'm not like, Philippa will only fly his one airline. I will fly whichever airline is cheapest to get to the finish line while I go to. Period. I do not care. I don't discriminate. I don't, I don't have a type. I don't have a thing. I have off-road trucks and convertible trucks and then crazy sports cars. And I'll do it all. And it just so happens that the last car I bought happened to be a Porsche that I wanted. But my list still has other cars that aren't Porsche's and I promise I will eventually sell that Porsche probably for a Supra and then I go into the Japanese realm. He's still over here trying to fly. I'm trying to find the way. I hate how it's so wrong. He's looking for it on the site. Now he wasn't going anywhere else. Now he's finally going to Google his own. No, no, I swear. Anyway, that's the answer. Philippa, do you agree? Yeah. He is paying attention to this. He's going to go away. He's going to go away. I'm excited to go away. You've been around when I bought a lot of cars. Yeah, you are one of the, if I had to pick someone who I'd say is agnostic to brand, who's just an enthusiast of things with four wheels. That's you. Yeah. And it just so happens that you've settled on the dream, you have gotten to a point where in your life we can buy the dream stuff. And so you have, but you know, you've owned 37 cars before that and they are, they are so diverse and there's just a smattering of interesting things. I don't know one Prius. Yeah. I mean, briefly, I had a CTSV wagon and a one Prius, a 360 mode, Modena and a Hummer all in together. Yep. The only person in his life is don't I like what I like everything I like everything and I had a key and I don't, there's nothing that I sit there and be like I wouldn't buy that because of that brand. There are certain cars I wouldn't buy because of some of the connotations that the particular car provides, including yes, that's our friend behind me. But that's certainly not true about brand. I really just am not, I'm into everything. Trucks, cars, sports cars, wagons, SUVs, all of it. Very ever boy, wish I could be that way. Filippo, that's our podcast for this week. It's, it's, it's, are you and for the year we have another podcast coming up next week, but we're not recording it live. It's just going to be questions from last week's because we're not filming on Christmas. Filippo, do you have any holiday thoughts for our audience? When you go home to your family, which hopefully some of you are doing, go judge your siblings, your parents, their neighbor's cars. Oh, that's so true. Okay, maybe we'll have to do on Christmas. Be judgmental. Kenan, you got any holiday thoughts for our viewers? I hope you all your automotive dreams come true. Wow, I hope that you're able to buy cars like Filippo is here. And yeah, just let us know. So everybody very happy holidays. We're going to push him into 2025. Filippo, Bart Porsche, we'll find out in the new year, we'll find out what it is and what trouble it's getting into. Or maybe not, it might not show up. It was sort of why you think because like he doesn't, it's like, he doesn't have any, he paid doesn't have the title. It's like, you can think I could disappear tomorrow. Oh, that's a good point. Where's the title? Is it in transit? It's getting shit that day. Right. Get out with the car. Anyway, I trust him. I think Filippo is going to call and it's going to be disconnected. Goodbye everyone. Good luck Filippo. Very holidays. I'm a bill of sale. It's okay.
