Barcelona waving goodbye to Robert Lewandowski the Camp Nou giving him an ovation brilliant time that he had at Barcelona and hugely respected Lewandowski weighs goodbye on his final game at the Camp Nou meanwhile over the Metropolitan there was not a dry eye in the house as Antoine Griezmann played his last game at the Metropolitan really emotional scenes former players coming out to wave farewell to a legend at Athlete his family out with him as well wonderful scenes at the Metropolitan however after most Salah's comments I do not think it's going to be the same at Liverpool okay this is Mohammed Salah talking about the last game against Aston Villa he said I've witnessed his club go from doubters to believers and from believers to champions it took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there nothing makes me prouder than that I was crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies that is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good it cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about all teams win games Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and to my family I want to see it succeed for long after I've moved on as I've always said qualifying to next season's Champions League is the bare minimum and I will do everything I can to make that happen Franklin Buff is joining us Luis Garcia is still with us but I do want to start with Stevie Nicol here to ask you what you've made of Salah's comments why he's done this well I don't know why he's done it and I can't tell you how disappointed I'm that he's done it you know this is this is not somebody who's had too many beers and raked something that's that they're thinking about this is calculated and why are you going and criticising particularly the manager when you're still at the club I mean I don't understand you know for a guy who who doesn't really speak out who doesn't have anything to do in the media certainly has very few interviews and he's in his whole career and I remember he's time at Liverpool and he comes out with this now I can't tell you how disappointed I'm I mean it's just he is somebody who every single Liverpool fan has looked up to ever since he put a red shirt on and he's done nothing but give his heart and his soul and everything to Liverpool and Liverpool fans and Liverpool football club and to do this now right at the end of his time at Liverpool I think is way it's just completing the utter madness and I don't understand is he is he is he angry is he angry at the manager I mean come on why I don't understand why he's doing it it's not the first time he's criticised slot this season I remember back in December he did the same thing you know everybody's looking forward to saying goodbye to Mohammed Salah so why do you want to go and tarnish it because there will be some who will be looking at this and going hold on a second why you why you criticising our club we all know it's been a tough season we know things haven't gone well we all know that Arnav slot hasn't done a great job this year so why are you shoving it down everybody's throat I can't tell you how disappointed I am in it you know I think the guy's been absolutely superb for Liverpool he's been a fantastic player and up until now in my opinion he has conducted himself at the highest level and then he goes and does this I'm sorry I don't get it and I hope some of these team mates give him give him a little bit of variables because he deserves it Luis you're also a former Liverpool player do you feel the same as Stevie about this I'm not gonna be fan of of making the statements during my career to be fair or to talk about what is happening on the team this is a new generation a new way of managing what is happening and during the games thing is that you are part of most allies part of the team during this season and if you complain about what is happening around the season and how the club has to be conducted in the future everything but did you be part of this he hasn't been a good one but not for him not for many of the players in into that squad so I think there is some something there between him and the managers of forget that they have a leader controversy or argument and in the period when the chance of stay when he was a part of one of the games and he came out and he did that again I think in not in the right moment and a comment about his situation trying to get in conflict with the manager he was suspended for a game and then he went to the national team so I think something there that is being dragging him to make this kind of statements and we can we can understand the situation we can understand his frustration but again I'm not a big fan of coming out and same things about things about a team that I'm still be part of that I still need one more game to be played and that I've been probably one of the leaders one of the players who for many many fans around the world you are a person to to to respect our role model as you've been for many years so I think it's not the right moment I think it's not the right comment but again it is a new generation a new way of expressing themselves social media and in some kind of this interview so we don't need to respect his opinion as everyone else is got their own but then I'm not again I'm not a big fan of this kind of statements before a situation or a game that you need to to continue playing especially when you're moving on as well Frank what do you think of him making these comments and why now why now I don't know and I think it's really sad you just showed the beginning of the show you know leave on those key leaving and one gears man leaving and being honored by the by the by the fans the the players the the chairman and even the coaches and that's absolutely fantastic and you have to forget about that you have at some point being a little bit political if you are more solid say okay wasn't a great season I wasn't at the best and and I've ended up on the bench and I know so it doesn't like me but who cares and as Stevie and Luisa eluded you know you play for a special club leave a puller I always been a special club with a special atmosphere with the fans and everything forget about the last season just remind the people what you have to cheer with the club and what you've done for them and how big you have been for them and and just my just my say goodbye and you're gonna be honored and because within 10 years we already remember most of the the great player that you have been for for the whole time that you play for Liverpool so it doesn't mean anything is useless it doesn't bring anything good and it will leave a little bit of bitterness in in in people in people mouse when they will talk about more salad because yeah that was great but the ending and the exit wasn't that great yeah breakups are messy and full of emotion and full of bitterness and grudges I wouldn't know this but I've been told that that's the case been told that that's the case and it is difficult to stick the dismount in a breakup and Mohammed Salah clearly did not stick the dismount here did not stick the landing I believe he's thinking he's doing the right thing and taking the position of our club and those that come to our club Liverpool should be held to a standard that this club demands and the way I took his messaging is there are some grudges and there's some bitterness as to how his end to the club was handled and the those players that came into the club were given a benefit of the doubt that they hadn't earned and him who had done so much for Liverpool was not given that same benefit of the doubt and there is something to be said about pride and when you feel like you've done so much and it's not being recognized as such is so very difficult to see the whole perspective and to see the whole picture you're seeing this season and what matters to use what happened this year and you forgot all about the glory years that you have had with this club so to Frank's point yes there is something to be said about being politically correct in this moment understanding that there have been some failures that is not just the club failures it's not just the new players failure it's also been your failures because you haven't been at your best either and maybe this time you cannot take a step back allow the season to be played out and then as you move on and you take all the love that is coming for you from the Liverpool fans and supporters then maybe maybe in time you are able to sort of kind of look back into this and have a much better perspective but this is coming from him being left out at the wrong time by Arnaz Slott and other players that came into the club being put into his position and him thinking those guys do not appreciate Liverpool like I do they cannot do it like I do and as any player knows that have been left out there's always something that sticks right there in your soul and you have to let it out and he has done so here and he's been he's wrong for doing it. You know the other thing that I thought about Liverpool have had so many fantastic players over the last 40 years you know the whole thing started in the mid 60s all the way through to to when I left and Liverpool was struggling and then they came back again and now and then they struggled again and then they came back under clop. The amount of quality world-class players that have been in the very same position that he finds himself in now his time has come he's on the back end of his career and it happens to every single one of us as professionals but at Liverpool there have been so many stars who have finished their time there and haven't been regular starters have gone through similar things that this guy's gone through and how many of them do you remember coming out and criticising the club or the manager or the team or anybody else because you don't do it it's called class it's called that's what it's called and he is shown in that statement he doesn't have the class of his former veterans at Liverpool who showed absolute class who were in the same position and repeat it because when we all come to the end of a career the only thing that happens is you end up on the bench and then you end up not even on the bench and it happens to us all and so that is a lack of class from most Salah which I can't believe I thought I would ever say that. In Champions League it's not guaranteed just yet there's still a game to win next weekend. Exactly exactly so you talk about that I said it lacks class. Obviously it doesn't help matters Luis right now Liverpool in fifth as it stands right now and it's okay it's Brentford that they face next week but they do have that pressure to ensure that they get a positive result with this is the backdrop Luis. Yeah exactly and you have to win it and I think we've seen during the whole season that it doesn't matter again who do you play you can face a team and and no winner because they have struggled so much to win against things like these things that they are dynamic three teams that they are good in transition and it doesn't matter if you play against Arsenal or you play against Brentford if Liverpool doesn't doesn't compete the way they have to do we saw last weekend when we saw them maybe they have the opportunity they start well but in during the game in the end they lack of presence up front or not finishing their options and they couldn't get the three points so in the end it's about trying to give everything and we go back to the talks of the statement of Mo Salah shows that you are not focused on really what you need because you can wait until the end of the season once you are qualified for the Champions League and then throw everything that you need there inside throw everything that you can feel those emotions and the guys I think that they were spot on on were talking about what you finished you cannot be remember just the last year you have to think about what you don't for the club or how important you've been and the love that all the fans so you have to be grateful and we have a fantastic example of a Griezmann saying being grateful to the manager to the crowd actually apologizing to the whole crowd when he left for Barcelona Lewandowski exactly the same because the big players they got them they got not only to be grateful about it but need to show they are massive platform for the rest of the of the young generation that they are coming to show the respect to the game and again to always work and talk as as they are icons and people who they support this follow for the rest of their lives and a very much looks like Liverpool will be sticking with Anna slot next season particularly because this weekend Frank we've learned that Shabby Alonso will be the new manager at Chelsea next season what did you think of the news I want to jump I'm so happy I'm so surprised but I'm so happy because I'm really fan of Shabby Alonso I think it will be the right guy is not only a coach is the manager which is a big step from the board it changed their mind of thinking the positioning of the of the coach and giving more responsibility to Shabby Alonso and you know we often say that Chelsea is a young club with young players with a lack of experience and I couldn't see better than Shabby Alonso taking care of that young those are young players you know like he's done for by a liver cousin it was a different task again with Ria Madrid but I think he will suit him both perfectly suit him awfully it would work because I really want to see that Avigo four years contract that we think you will give the time for that guy to to make sure that the he takes all the guys to their best and and bring back Chelsea to the position that they were before and meaning one of the top club in the world so I'm delighted really that's a very good news and I really hope Shabby Alonso will settle down very well in London. Luis do you like this appointment for your old team mate? Yeah I couldn't agree more I've seen that he's landing on a club that is desperate to have someone in charge so someone who cannot dread the situation and full of young so talented players and if we see how Shabby Alonso matters because he arrives he to play as who maybe they were doing well but they they they got the best of them and they become one of the most impressive teams in Europe arriving to win the Bundesliga or the Europa Europa final so in the end I think that he learned from this experience of Real Madrid he know that he's got a massive challenge because Chelsea has been in the last 10 20 years team that is really really important in Europe and at the moment they need yes to change that to give him a little bit of patience and allow him to work the way he wants something that probably he didn't have the opportunity to do in Madrid and knowing that he's going to be in charge of bringing the players he's going to need to build a strong team the way he wants to play I think that is a fantastic partnership between Chelsea and Shabby Alonso I'm sure eager to to be a successful once again what do you think of this wish Shabby Alonso from his side well I mentioned in earlier shores this week that I thought you can draw parallels from what he did a bi-level coaching as to what he could do at Chelsea giving the talent level the the youth of the players this things could potentially work but he has to have and this is something the managers haven't had a Chelsea and I think it's a keyword control he has to be the one that is making the decisions I want this player I don't want that player I want that guy he's going to be useful that guy is not and it's not something that is dictated towards him that is the very least if he doesn't have full total total control that at the very least he is an active participant in the conversations not just dictated from above what needs to happen and how it needs to happen and I have to imagine that he has to he has been assured of that control and that participation in those conversations because otherwise this doesn't make sense for Shabby Alonso because the market for Shabby Alonso was bigger than this group at Chelsea I imagine that he's been given those assurances and if that's the case then yeah sure why not Louise before we do let you go today because it is time for you to go we wanted to bring up an old picture because in 2014 on this very day you and I were at the Camp Nou to see Athleti win La Liga against Barcelona along with Steve Archibald yes remember that Louise yes I do remember it was my first time on TV I enjoy it very much I learned from such an amazing colleagues at that stadium and I cannot believe how dark it was my hair fantastic I miss that it's more salt and pepper now it's a little great fox now thank you so much for being with us Louise we'll speak to you soon make sure to join us on the latest edition of extra time Gab Marquotti will be joining the team to answer your questions you can check it out over on YouTube Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 on the day that we know that Michael Carrick is staying one big moment in this game was when Mateus Cunha scored the second goal to put United ahead again there was a handball in the build-up from Mbuehmö VAR advised the referee to go and take a look at the screen but he insisted that the goal should stand and so it did stand Brian Mbuehmö would then score a third for United the assist coming from Bruno Fernandez which means he got his record equaling 20th assist of the Premier League season it was also a day when Old Trafford waved goodbye to Casamiro now before we do talk about Bruno Fernandez's achievement today we must go to that moment and the handball that wasn't Frank how did you see it in that handball decision that the referee stuck with his decision on it unless you're Manchester United fan or maybe you're blind there is no other choices but saying that there is a handball and so therefore the goal should have been disallowed I'm very sorry but there is no other choices I mean he controlled the ball otherwise the ball would have gone and it would have been a different story so there is no other choices by saying no there is no goal and VAR said it and and for the for that time and the wrong the referee got the wrong decision so I don't understand that I mean hopefully for not taking for us it won't be put they won't put them in a dangerous situation hopefully but that's that's unfair that's simply unfair and the referee should have won the Manchester United shirt for the rest of the game there's got a prop there well because you know when you show up to a soccer game out on the street or out on school in the backyard this is how you carry the ball like this that's exactly what I'm been with it yep there was a like half a second counter a second kind of the ball there stopped which is stops yeah he's carrying the ball I mean just take the ball home why don't you how is this not a handball I I have no idea how anybody can look at that video especially the referee can look at that video and say yeah no let me tell you something that's a handball and somehow you you look at this he's holding he holds on to the ball for half a second for a fraction of time that ball just stops and sits there it's 100% a handball good Lord so as I mentioned the VAR did advise referee Michael Salisbury to go to the screen to take a look at this but he insisted the referee that the goal should stand and cited accidental handball in his decision here can you make any sense of his decision do you see any reason why he would say that no he's on an island he's the only person on the planet that thinks that's not a game play I mean seriously listen I'm if there's one thing I'm glad of he's actually decided on his own that his did he's making the decision which you know a lot of things we complain that it seems like the referee does make the decision that's the only positive out of this the referee has actually taken the initiative and made the decision unfortunately it's one of the most ridiculous decisions that a referee has ever made and ever will make so I have no idea what was going through it would have been one of the easiest handballs to call absolutely it I said pertains to handballs which tends to be a very gray area this is not great this is a handball there there is no gray area here this is a handball he controls the ball with his arm uses the arm to control the ball otherwise that ball goes past them does that not impact the play it is you know 100% a ham you know what being a referee it's an oxymoron in the in our society where everybody wants to be recognized and normally a good ref you don't see it you don't see him in a noise he kind of invisible because he does his job and he doesn't interfere with the game that guy will be known all around the world from people who understand a little bit of football and also very interested about the Premier League but we all we all know that his name and now and his face because of his mistake I don't know if it's nice for him but in the real world you know it's always good a good publicity for the for the for the unspoken but really what a shame all right let's get to talking about Bruno Fernandez who did get that 20th I keep the ball I wonder what else is in the prop box to be honest I didn't know we had one most say well that's the best control you ever had even when you were playing Kevin Devois and Thierry Henry already had 20 Bruno Fernandez joins them and if he can assist in the game at Brighton next week he will set a new Premier League record but also a single season record across Europe's top five leagues Thomas Muller and Leonel Messi have had 21 assists in a single season before I mean these are special numbers Frank it is it is and especially because you know if you compare with Thierry Henry and Kevin Devois they were playing for a team which was fighting for the for the Premier League title for the season where it was completely different before Michael Carrick took charge of Wednesday night heat for for for for for the club and for the team that Fernandez was playing so he has to be recognized as a top player I don't like these attitudes at some point but at some times you know crying a lot completing a lot but he has a real talent he filled the game he filled the when he has to give the ball and where he has to give the ball and and that's that shows how talented he is and how good player he has been this season getting an assist man who can put in 20 a season it's brilliant isn't it he's carried that club he's the reason they're in Champions League next year because if you take Bruno Fernandez out of that team you're not left with too much so yeah every single bit of praise he's getting and had for this season he deserves it I mean you think of the size of the club of Manchester United and he's actually carried it on his back so yeah phenomenal the fact that he's playing in a team that has struggled pretty much for most of the season you look at the Brawners as Frank said and Thierry Henry they were they were playing with with other super stars who were flying who made it easy for them this guy's done it on his own this this honestly every every award he's getting he absolutely 100% deserves it let's talk about Casemiro because he waved goodbye today when he first signed from Manchester United the criticism when there's there that maybe his time was up as a player but what we have seen with him at Manchester United and given what he's given to them this season is a player who has fought for the team and a player who's got the fans on his side as well a leg well I think in Casemiro joining Manchester United I don't know that I was in the camp that said well he's done as a player but what I did know from observations towards the end of his time as Real Madrid is that the legs were not quite there as they had been before and that was proven to be the case at times Casemiro struggled very much with the pace of play and he was not helped by the players around him in that midfield when we have talked of the concerns and struggles of Manchester United one of the areas that was most concerning was that midfield especially moments of transition and what do you need a moment to transition speed does Casemiro have that speed now in his career no but he does have professionalism he does have qualities of leadership he does have a presence about him that I believe the players around him respect what Casemiro has achieved in the game and so that allows him to have some equity with his teammates and some equity with the fan base and what you cannot criticize from Casemiro whether you think he had the speed or not or whether you can you want to go and criticize his performances or not what you cannot criticize of Casemiro is his level of commitment every time he's on the field he's giving you the best that he's got sometimes that's not as good as it used to be but when he did play at a high level which wasn't consistently so in his time with Manchester United it was still a player that could be useful I think his time at Manchester United at least for me was what I expected once he left Real Madrid there'll be some good times and then there'll be other times where like mommy these legs are gone and I think he felt it as well but to be fair to him he wasn't getting the help around him either which then exposed his limitations at this point in his career even more. Stevie? Yeah I think I actually think it's nice the way it's ended up for him I agree with everyone that Ali said but I think it's nice that since Carrick took over he has been settled in the team he's done his job and some more he's helped everybody around him and so he's got to end his Manchester United career on a high because when he came off he got a stand innovation from the whole stadium and he deserves it for his career so yeah I think it was great that it ended how it did the fact is had Carrick not come in might not have ended in such a happy note. No absolutely not okay let's move on to another game in the Premier League Newcastle taking on West Ham West Ham in trouble as it stands right now and it wasn't about to get any better for them up at St James's Park Hermanson playing the ball out here and Harvey Barnes collects it put it across for Nick Valtomade who scores his first goal in the Premier League since December. Well that and Notchill is one of the reasons why this team's going to get relegated shocking from the keeper shocking defensively and then they go behind and easy it's such an easy goal but they've lost too many easy goals all season. Nineteenth minute but see some nice passing from Newcastle William Asula through he scores makes it two. The amount of space available to Newcastle there is no pressure whatsoever on the ball on the runners and give Asula some credit with the finish do nothing. Yeah fans already leaving that penny for the thoughts of Nuno. Sixty-fifth minute West Ham lose the ball. Joe Willick's going to cut it back for Asula to score a second for himself a third for his team. It's the same old story I mean look how easy this is I mean you know they're going to score nobody gets close to it every day and it's a simple finish. Tati Castellanos would come on it was an instant impact in the 69th getting himself on the score sheet here. What a great finish this is from Tati Castellanos now it's just direct play the ball is allowed to bounce and then sliding volley beautiful contact over the goalkeeper gorgeous goal. Seventy-fourth minute West Ham break here Jared Bowen chooses not to pass but shoots straight at the keeper. Listen if there's a guy you want with a ball in the attack at the top of the box it's Jared Bowen unfortunately the straight was straight at the goalkeeper. Castellanos again this time with a volley that hits the crossbar it's always right in the volley he's got to allow this to come further down he does not it's a straight of the crossbar now. So West Ham really do now need Chelsea to do them a favor when Spurs come to Stamford bridge this weekend West Ham are trailing Spurs as you can see by two points there's a 13 goal difference in favor of Spurs as well. These are the games that are left Tuesday at Chelsea for Spurs Sunday against Everton and for West Ham it's just leads that are left if Spurs do lose to Chelsea West Ham would need to beat leads at the London stadium and hope that Everton win at Spurs next weekend. It is tight and it is tense let's get some predictions for Arsenal Burnley. Whoa very similar predictions from many of us oh boy three nil for most a little more conservative for me. Yeah I'm not surprised. Make sure to join the team tomorrow to take a look back at how Arsenal do play actually it is me back in the chair tomorrow we'll see if we're right. Yeah Arsenal against Burnley we'll be looking back on that and a lot more of the reaction from this weekend as well. A dramatic day in La Liga at the bottom end of the table where Levante have pulled themselves out of the bottom three and Girona have found themselves in it. It is going to go down to the final day many of the teams still involved in this. These are the teams 15th through to 19th that could be going down and there is a direct battle on the final day between Girona and Alcè. Real Oviedo are already down two more teams will be joining them. Sid Lowe's with us. That's certainly good it's not quite as tight as it once was there's not quite as many teams as there once were but it's still five teams fighting to avoid those final two places and as you've just mentioned one direct fight between Girona and Alcè on the final day. Sevilla safe which of course what everybody here really cared about this afternoon. Valencia is safe Alves is safe but for those five teams that are left it's going to be very very tense indeed on the final day of the season. Yeah absolutely and to see Girona dragged into it Luis is just crazy when you think of where they were just a couple of seasons ago this is a team that were fighting in the top end of the table surprising everyone and now they find themselves in the bottom three today. Yeah exactly okay we've seen that before with the reaction that I remember the man has to get in the Champions League and a year after they were relegated and that's what happened when you expectations were so high you make a fantastic team you are strong you compete for with the with the biggest teams in the league and suddenly the year after some of the players because they perform so well they are sold and they try to build again when once they work and it doesn't and that's what the Miigirou with Girona have in the season they try to play the same way they try to do exactly the same thing that they did the previous season but that doesn't fit again that is not the same connection with the players are not the same players not the same talented players all the performance of the players are not the same and they struggle to even stay in La Liga they feel in their hands to stay in La Liga but we've seen quite many different times for Sevilla a team that I said that no longer go there they might be go to relegations because of the situation the momentum with Gatia has done an amazing job with those fantastic three wins in a row and get them out of those situations Sevilla is a team of La Liga is a historic and definitely even though they today they have the opportunity because they have options in front of goal they have a big chances to score at least that equalizer but in the end no points that could have allowed at least saved the crowd for very tight and and stressing the few last minutes yeah look how tight it is 15 through 19 right now going into the final day and who these teams are up against next as we just saw there Sid mentioned it next weekend that's a direct battle Elche at Girona those two will be fighting out to see who does survive Real Oviedo and Mallorca as well Real Oviedo already down but Mallorca fighting to try and survive themselves Sid what's your instinct telling you who's going down ah that that Girona Elche game the fact that Girona at home leans me towards Girona victory and Elche going down but I'm not sure I feel like I feel like Mallorca should get a result against Real Oviedo and then that of course drags even teams like Ossiassuna who a few weeks ago thought they were absolutely safe drags them into it oh man I mean a week ago I'd have said Alves but Alves have found a way out of it by beating Barcelona so all right let's go for it shall we let's say Oviedo Elche Mallorca oh what are you saying see I'm concerned about Ossiassuna I'm concerned about Girona as well but Girona have it in their hands in regards to playing against Elche at home so in that sense I suppose I agree with Sid it feels like Girona should be able to manage that match against Elche at home should but here's the problem that I have with Ossiassuna and Girona for that matter they didn't think they were going to be in this see teams like Mallorca have been here for the last three weeks or so and they know that every point matters everything counts and you're feeling like every single game every single play is stressful and when you live in that environment while it is stressful you get used to the stress for teams that were not in this to begin with say three weeks ago Ossiassuna would not have thought that they were going to be playing for their lives in the last match of the season and now they have to go to Getafe is that fun not really is that where you go and get a result I don't think so is that where we call the dentist yeah well that's what some people call the dentist but it's a bad dentist it's not it's not the top of the line dentist it's when you're when your dentist is not available and it's on vacation go to the next one that's the sort of dentist at Getafe all right yeah yeah yeah I don't see so Ossiassuna who were not in this now they're in this I'm afraid for Ossiassuna and even though I think of all those teams that are there they have seemed to have been the better team over the course of the length of the season well it doesn't show in the standings and now they have to get a result I'm afraid for Ossiassuna Levendowski waving goodbye to Barcelona and giving quite the fun farewell from his teammates from the coaching staff and also from the fans let's get out to Gemma Saler to get some of the reaction from the camp now this evening Gemma you're with us right now tell us what it's been like to be there and tell us a little bit more about Levendowski send off yes okay it looks he doesn't want to leave because actually he's just behind us he's he was with his family with a lot of friends with his kids as well doing these last pictures and right now we can show him he's in the middle of the of the pitch he's taking a special picture I don't know if you are going to be but I assure you that he's behind the photographer he's taking that last memory the truth is also the fans they left a banner a board here saying Robert with you everything started and I think it means a lot because when he arrived in Barcelona they were struggling they were unable to sign new players Leonel Messi left the way he did and there was a bit of a depression and he brought back that competitiveness trying to score another goal he also became a kind of a father figure role model for this young generation that he has inspired a lot he managed to get seven trophies in four seasons three La Liga's two Copa del Rey the supercups and and more than this he brought joy to to this stadium being playing in in Mojica as well that was tough so he always tried to to score one more goal I think it was a little bit what he tried today also defending macambo in in the corners he couldn't score that last goal but I think his his memory will be very fond of him in this second no the the standing ovation was really long because the fans really love Robert Lewandowski he's obviously played a very important part as you've highlighted there Gemma but there had been talk about if he was going to go we now know that he is going it's still a role to fill that Barcelona would need given everything that he has brought to this team for next season who are they looking at well there is a pipe dream it's Julian Alvereth this is no secret Barcelona having former Letico de Madrid the the Asians they know that also Julian Alvereth would be happy joining Barcelona but also they are very well aware that there are very powerful clubs especially in the Premier League with way more more money it's true that Barcelona eventually this summer they will manage to get to the one on one rule balancing the books and being able to to sign but they are not as powerful money talking about money as the clubs in the in the Premier League so Julian would be the main target otherwise they they are talking about Joe Pedro they are talking even Lautaro Martinez Murici even Mallorca this would be another another striker a very different style but letting Lewandowski go it's also opening the door to a top striker because they know especially with the Hansi Flick system they did that the striker that killer in in the area to to apply that system so they need to sign and is what Deco La Porta and the board of members are trying to pursue now right thank you so much for being with us Gemma it's been great to get that report from you and to say goodbye and see the fun farewell that Robert Lewandowski was given here we go wrestling Santander are going heading back up to La Liga being a while since they've been back in the top flight I think it's 14 years but they are back wrestling Santander will be playing their football in La Liga next season lots of tears today lots of tears everywhere only seems like yesterday that we were doing this we over here though doesn't it well they're definitely taking their place hey that didn't last as long as we were hoping it can go a little bit better for us seeing next season in La Liga than it did for Oviedo yes they are back in the top flight after a little while out let's get to league up Paris FC taking on PSG PSG choosing to do their trophy lift before the match oh all right what front of their fans in the away okay I mean what is 20 so people are going to leave early or something what is his concerns here for Usman Dembele as he removed himself from the match due to injury Gonzalo Ramas is going to come in for him and he goes straight to the locker room as well 50th minute Fabian Ruiz with a nice cross in here for Barcola who's that lying on the other track you get out of the road a free kick here for Paris FC, Hallie Mamigori scores with the flick on one resourceful creative finish it'll flick on to the far post beautiful and Luca Collioccio on the break and is eventually going to lay this ball off to Gory for the winner you can might celebrate before the game with your trophy lift but you might get beaten as well take that they don't seem very concerned about all right in the Serie A today look at that at the top Juventus lost at home to Fiorentina and they have dropped down to six in the table Napoli won Milan won Roma won the Rome D'Abbia against Lazio Como won as well and Juventus are now in trouble with one round left to go Juventus must now win the final game of the season and hope for favourable results elsewhere Gab Marcotti joining us now to talk about how it's all turned out today for Juventus what a disaster it would be for this club Gab if they are not to make the Champions League next season absolutely it would be a huge huge blow for the club obviously everybody knows a situation that they that they inherited from the previous regime shall we say the massive losses and obviously not having Champions League football means that the path to rebuilding this team and getting them back to where they were is that much narrower the irony is that they didn't even play that bad against against Juventina McKenny and Lavage having some goals disallowed they created a number of chances but you make stupid mistakes Michele Di Gregorio once again at fault and Sharon Doar scoring the opener for Fiorentina and Net Orlando Mandrago da Scorta Worldly and there's nothing you can do about that obviously they don't control their own destiny on the final week of the season so it's all very much uphill for Spalletti and I wonder even though I think Spalletti's done a good job and they're training in the right direction he is an expensive coach and I wonder if maybe they regret after having initially signed him to a contract where he would get an automatic extension if they got into into the Champions League then in April they decide oh no no that's fine you've convinced us we'll give you another two years regardless I wonder if they regret that a little bit yeah we've just seen the massive spend as well Gab I just wonder how this is all going to go down in Italy we're probably already seeing some of those signs we've seen a revolving door of managers of sport in directors just absolute turmoil at Uve all that money spent to not be playing in the Champions League potentially is not going to go down well no and I have to say it's stupid I mean in Italy we have this this this weird condition where we have these massive knee jerk results knee jerk reactions to two results rather than performances rather than broader trends Spalletti took this team over obviously once the season had already started kind of the symbol of it Jonathan David and Lois Appenda unused subs on the bench kind of like ghosts of Christmas past coming back to to haunt them but you know people will make mistakes and the reality is Juventus I think have played some decent football under under Spalletti despite the results the problem with Uve is that there's a certain brand of Uve fan who sits there and grumbles and all they care about is the results and all they care about is they look at the team and they say you know there's no bonucci there's no chiellini there's no alle del pierro yeah guys all these guys are gone um but you know what it took a while for bonucci and chiellini to become bonucci and chiellini um and and and the reality is until they get past that and realize that it takes patience to build something and I'm talking about people in the media I'm talking about certain you know certain parts of the fan base then I think Uve will always be be stuck in this doom loop for my money regardless what happens I think they should stick to Spalletti and I think they should they should build upon what they have and if it means that they have to do it with a slightly smaller budget next season so be it I think they are on the right track look at that measured reaction from gab marcotti no knee jerk there that's what we got to see from him you'll hear more from gab on the gab and jules podcast that will be dropping on monday the latest edition of the show drops twice a week so make sure to check it out wherever you get your podcasts and that's all we've got time for on the latest edition of espnfc kind of because espnfc ends here but extra time starts next and frank and gab are joining us over there that's over with the amaranix sure let's do that absolutely whatever you want it's extra time anything goes welcome into the latest edition of extra time ali and stevia here in the studio and we've got frank and gab dancing along to the music here all right who should basalona's next straight of the alley jemma described it as a pipe dream and but in terms of fit julian alvarez would seem to make a whole lot of sense now whether financially they're able to make that work or not that's for somebody else to figure out but that is the mold that i would go after if our basalona now jemma mentioned other names that when she said muricia almost fell off my chair you talk about a player that does not fit the basalona way of playing that is murici so i'm i'm i'm going more along the lines of a julian alvarez and that i think would be best case scenario okay for mr nickle mr nickle oh no as one of the greatest managers in mls history do you think there's much difference between the joe zay marino who first arrived in 2010 and the one who will most likely return to real madrid 16 years later well looking from the outside it would seem that it's a lot more interested in manipulating the media as opposed to the players that's what it looks like to me i think still back in 2010 you thought right it's going to shut the players out it's going to do this they're going to be you gotta say oh it seems like it seems like he's chasing media now as opposed to they'd be chasing him and then he'd come out with all these classic lines it seems like it's gone the other way since then i might be right i might be wrong but that's just how it seems to be for me i'm interested to know your thoughts gab on joe zay marino's potential return to real madrid and how it could compare or differ to last time i mean look last time he took over a team that had i think got 99 points or something was one year removed from putting together probably the greatest transfer campaign in history getting chabiol onso and kaka and kareem benzema and somebody named christianna ronaldo all in one go it was just a very very different very different climate and very different task ahead i i disagree a little bit about you know sort of the media in the sense that he's always been somebody who you know enjoyed the relationship with the media i think the difference is that 16 years ago initially at least the media were all eating out of his hand today he's come under he's had ups and downs and he's he just comes under under a lot more scrutiny um it was interesting though sort of reading between the lines of what he said tonight coming out so explicitly um about uh george mendez having contacts with uh with round madrid just as he's deciding whether he needs whether he's going to take up infica's offer of a new contract i don't necessarily want to be a little bit cynical here but um yeah it kind of makes you kind of makes you wonder a little bit about what's what's what's really going on we ask or you ask that perspective or that question from the perspective of just semmurinho and how different is he 2010 to 2026 just as important how different are the players from 2010 to 2026 and he it's just 16 years but it feels like this this generation seems completely different than that generation and being able to manage this players in this moment in time you wonder how much gravitas does just semmurinho have walking into that locker room as compared to what he did back then and and it's a fair question to us and we don't know what that's going to be like and how these players are going to react to just semmurinho we're assuming that he shows up and everything gets resolved i think it's a big assumption because these players right now listen to something entirely different than what those players did back then hence why it was such a great job that carlo and celote was able to do with real madrid in sort of reinventing himself as a manager and somehow connecting with a much younger generation just in what he is going to have to do that as well thank you interviewed him back in the day back at his time at real madrid is he still a special one for you well i would be i would be very happy if he's successful with ria madrid once again because i think he's a real leader but i think what ali just said is crucial the world has changed the the football players have changed their mentality have changed and and we can see with all the statistics and the result that um um josemurinho had had uh has had sorry uh lately it's not it's not as good as he used to be so i think it's hard for him to cope with the players it's hard for him to simply yell as a player when he needs to because they don't care and uh and when you have venezuel jr which he had problems with lately and um and uh kilan emba pey we don't want a track back that's going to be an issue so how are you going to psychologically deal with them i don't know it's really up to him and again i want to see it i think it's going to be a special entertainment but i want to see him successful being successful but i have doubts i really have doubts i think his time has passed i think he's lost kind of his module uh of success but uh i wish him the best gab what sticks out as a memory or theme for this season a memory from this season or a theme for this season i will give you a very recent one for sorry yeah you can't continue i will give you a very recent one from tonight because i was actually watching the the peris starby between peris fc and paris sanjerman and i am so looking forward to trolling jewels tomorrow because you know what peris sanjerman may end up becoming the kings of europe if they be arson the champions league final uh in budapest um but peris fc are the kings of peris this season having beaten peris sanjerman twice of course he did in the coup de france as well and might i add and i'm so disappointed you didn't point this out when you did the highlight the guy who set up the winning goal luca cole osho he's not peris born in bread he's norwalk kinetic at born in bread just down the road from uk not just that he played serratally huge or the title of the 21 side anyway huge how cool is that apologies that's very cool with all that paper that you have all the information that you accumulate i miss the most important point of the day and you skip over that you lay yourself down i'm really sorry dad forgive me on this one occasion forgive me on a memory or a theme for the season set pieces well yeah and the premiere i tell you i tell you a theme the one thing i'll remember over this season just remember you have to play the games before a ball was kicked the majority of us were sat here talking about who's going to beat libra pool so always remember always remember you still have to play the games it's not played on paper it's played on grass or astroturf but you've got to play and it just doesn't get handed to you on a play we'll be asking you again at the beginning of the new season and we'll do it all over again in terms of a memory for this season the the first leg of psg byermunic that that that's how we like to watch games and that's how we enjoy the game and i know there are some in this panel to my right um that that that feel very strongly about the lack of defending in that game but i rather think about the offensive greatness and explosion and dynamic movement and creativity that we saw in full display that night yes okay uh frank lebov would you like to take one well yes yeah i want to support the person on the alize right because i thought i was defending very badly so but that's what it is yes tv well done and uh but i for me it's uh once again i have to say the level of the premier league overall um went down i think the inconsistency of most clubs of their performances show showed us that the premier league has to wake up uh money wise entertainment wise i guess is still the best league in the world but for the two last season oh that hasn't been very good so wake up guys because we love you but we want to see better performances better results and more consistency i have a feeling there's no need to ask stevie the next question but you can correct me if i'm wrong but you and frank may be have you guys ever wanted to air out a coach in public like most allotted to slots i mean i knew he'd take that no you you you want to do it but you don't do it yeah there are a lot of things that you want to do as a player but you show better judgment you take a step back you surround yourself with people that love you and care for you and and yes and they take you out for dinner and remind you of the good things in life and then you say all right it's not worthwhile and then you move on with your life but you have wanted to but you want to speak your mind but you know that it's not the best neither for you more importantly it's not the best for the team that's a novel concept think of the team your teammates the team the team wins and the team loses it's the team that's important here there's no thought of that here from muhammed salla he's focusing on his feelings and that's why he just kind of runs his mouth you know in 99 times out of 100 when you do that you actually make yourself look worse than the guy that you're supposedly trying to out so i've never understood it you know why why do you need to tell anybody what you think about the coach all you need to know is what you think why why why do you think you have to tell everybody else is it is it like taking responsibility off of you it's not your fault because you don't think he's a good coach i just i've never got that mentality you always not not every single time but generally you always look bad for saying things rank yeah and i'm gonna look bad again uh because i kind of well i talked about jan luca vialli um some months before he he got sacked by chelsea where i said that i i didn't recognize him it was my best friend when we played together then became a chelsea coach and um got a step some step away from all the players that he was close to which is absolutely normal but a little bit too far and i say that they don't recognize him so it was kind of criticism and then when he got sacked people thought it because of it was because of my comment so giving me more um i would say i would say that more power inside the club because of course i wasn't able to to to sack jan luca vialli but the the game after that he was sacked i was booed like crazy at stump for bridge and i think it was uh i think it was a game uh european uh first first slight game and fortunately for me i had a very good game so um they kind of forgave me but that was a hard uh moment for me because of course i loved vialli and it was more saying i don't recognize him the guy who went too far away and is not having fun with us and uh and the way that we we see him is not the same way that we enjoyed the jan luca vialli and i so regretted it and on top of it the guy is not there anymore and and i feel so bad again i would have loved to talk to him about that and it's why when salla said that says sometimes you know just shut up because as steve said for 99 of the time he don't look good and uh and after you look you you feel bad you really feel bad hindsight is always 2020 right frank okay gab what will happen first an italian team when in the champions league or italy qualifying for the world cup neither has happened since 2014 wow okay well we did with the euros in 2021 can i just quickly address that that's not the question that's not the question that's not the question that's not the question that's not the question i'll get to that let him get to that let him answer frank there yes go on go on gab if i know just on the back of just on maco at frank said i i had some as you know i had some insight in it because obviously i wrote a couple books with jan luca vialli and i knew the situation from kind of his perspective and how much he struggled with the distance that he felt he needed with the players and i think there were things that when he became manager things that he regretted but i think the big difference between this and the mohammed salah context is that when vialli was sacked and frank made that comment at the time he was still hugely popular with the fan base which is why frank got booed in that game um making these comments now about arna slaw it's kind of like kicking somebody when he's down well you know you've got 90 minutes left at the club and you're going away and you'll be gone and i think that's why it's it's a different context and in some ways i'm with the guys it's it is a bit disappointing from uh uh from salah at this stage uh as for idli qualifying for the world cup uh versus the champions league well um you're basically asking is will an italian club win a champions league in the next four years and what i would say to that is in the four years previous idli did send two italian clubs to the champion league final uh one of them got spanked one of them less so um but yes no i logic would say that it's more likely that idli will qualify for the world cup but at this point i believe there's some sort of curse of uh ozzy mandias or some other horrendous figure from the past so i'm going to suggest it's more likely that an italian club win the champions league we need to get to norwalk and find more italians and maybe they're the answer gab no no exactly don't try to make it up now okay you missed it just own it and move on yeah hindsight's 2020 i know hindsight's very much all right for gab serious question if i was to take a lasagna and put it on top of another am i eating two lasagnas or one that's a funny one that would uh depend on the architecture and how many layers are too many layers i've said lasagna no i there are some parts of idli where the lasagna is uh is made up of more layers i mean i think normally you would probably go for three to four layers i think that that is the standard issue lasagna but there's um i suppose you would have to probably adjust the cooking time if you if you made it if you made a bigger one i don't know would you like and would you enjoy an eight layer lasagna eight layer lasagna well don't don't cook it at one time do them both in different ovens and cook four and four and then you put them on and it becomes one that's going to be tough to put it on top of the other though isn't it no it's called you cook them both at the same time with the same amount of stuff the whole thing every and the same and two different ovens and you put them together becomes one lasagna so it is one lasagna and then it's cooked properly okay all right no it's one the way that you're given these directions you make it sound as if you are heavily involved in the uh production well i like filling my plate so i know how to tie the stuff up he likes overcooking this well we call it the one too much we we call it the one too much lasagna then i want too much lasagna there you go okay there we go thank you so much for sending in your questions even the serious ones at the end we will be back tomorrow to do it all over again
