•Feb 26, 2026about 2 months agoSummary
This paranormal podcast episode features caller accounts of supernatural encounters including a ghostly artist at an estate sale, shadow entities in residential homes, a UFO sighting with green lasers in Southern California, and a winged humanoid creature sighting in Utah with historical precedent dating back to 1903.
Insights
- Multiple independent witnesses across different locations report similar phenomena (shadow entities, winged humanoids), suggesting either genuine paranormal patterns or shared cultural narratives influencing perception
- LIDAR technology from military/government surveys may explain some 'UFO' sightings, but witness accounts often contain details inconsistent with known technology explanations
- Historical documentation (1903 newspaper accounts, petroglyphs) combined with modern sightings in the same geographic regions suggests either cyclical paranormal activity or misidentification of natural phenomena
- Listener engagement through call-in format creates community validation of experiences and encourages pattern-matching across witness accounts
- Paranormal experiences often occur in historically significant locations (cemeteries, old homes, hospitals), linking supernatural activity to human tragedy and emotional resonance

Hello gang and welcome to another spooky installment of your favorite paranormal program. As I just mentioned, I am your host for the evening and I've curated quite a collection for you here tonight. Ghosts, monsters, strange occurrences in the woods. We have it all here tonight. And to kick us off, we begin in Texas. Tracy, welcome to the program. Hi, my name is Tracy, and I now live in Texas, south of Dallas. But the particular experience that I want to share was in Redland, California, when my family and I lived there. And anybody who's ever been there knows that there's a lot of really beautiful historical homes that are Victorian in style. Redlands is one of the older communities of Southern California with lots of citrus groves and agriculture and things like that before it got a lot more populated. So some of these homes have a state sale, and I love perusing through, even if I'm not going to be buying anything. And there was one in particular that I've always loved looking at when I go for my walk, and there was an estate sale. And it's a three-story, typical Redlands, California, Victorian-style home. and I was shopping through looking at some of the beautiful things that they had there and there was a third story that kind of had like a sunroom that kind of stuck out and it was kind of rounded with the wall windows that if you were an artist, that would be a perfect place because of the natural sunlight to paint and create and things like that. So I had gone up to this third floor, and there was, in fact, quite a few different art supplies. Some of them were old, some of them were new, and I was enjoying some of the artwork that was left there as well. And I could hear somebody come up the stairs, and I could tell that there was somebody else in the large room adjoining this little sunroom. but I didn't look or anything like that and I could tell she was coming up from behind me and in a very delicate voice almost fragile with a little bit of an accent and I can't tell you if it was like a European accent but I could kind of tell in my peripheral vision that she was also looking at the same artwork that I was. And she had said to me, and I heard it clear as mouth, aren't they lovely? And I answered, yes, they are. I'm looking for something that might fit in my own home. She said, oh, I hope that you do find something that you enjoy. And then I went to turn, because I didn't want to be just talking over my shoulder. So as I turned to my left, there was no one there. And I look, and I'm kind of darting my eyes all over this larger room that this sunroom was adjoining. And all there was was boxes, maybe a few pieces of furniture. That was about it. So there was nowhere for this woman to hide. And it shook me. But I looked around, did not see her, but I smelt a very light, flowery scent, like a woman's perfume that I would imagine would be typical for a young lady in the 1800s. A light rose, jasmine, lavender scent. It was very lovely. And the thing that was significant was they didn't feel like whoever had spoke to me was bad or anything, but she had obviously lived there. And I went downstairs into where the main table for the sales of the estate sales was happening and spoke to the young lady that was managing all of this. and I said, hey, you know, I got to tell you, I've had a really interesting experience happen up in that sunroom and I explained it and she's nodding and smiling at me and she said, yes, there's been a handful of people that have told the same story up in that third story window room that apparently she lived there and she was the artist of some of the paintings that hung all throughout the house and that she tragically had passed away of the Spanish flu back in the early 1900s when it was, you know, going crazy. And she said she doesn't harm anybody, but she just likes to oversee the place and we don't see any reason to ask her to leave unless she wants to. But thank you for sharing your story. but every once in a while I would drive by that house and see that little upstairs sunroom and almost hope that I would maybe see her image. I never did but I just thought I would share my little story and thank you and I hope you all have a great day. Bye bye. Thank you Tracy. Now Redlands is literally at the bottom of our mountain and Tracy is right. There are some beautiful sections of that city. A city built on citrus. Oranges, lemons, limes. The area was once covered in citrus groves and packing and shipping facilities. I spent a lot of time down there actually. Maybe I even went to the very same estate sale. I do love a good yard sale, but I never really thought about the paranormal connection to those front yard clearinghouses. But I guess it makes sense, and it actually makes me think of a great call to action. How many of you have had a strange experience at a garage sale, a yard sale, estate sale, etc.? Did you encounter a possible ghost like Tracy did? Did you buy a possessed or haunted item? Was Bigfoot running the cash register? Please welcome Michael out of New Hampshire. Hey Derek, this is Michael from New Hampshire and I just heard a story on Season 19, Episode 38 from Jordan from Ohio that reminded me of my own story. Me and my girlfriend at the time were living in an apartment in Concord, New Hampshire, and I was working night shift as a security guard. And one night I came home. My wife was already in bed and had been in bed for a couple hours at that point and as I was in the bathroom getting ready I saw a shadow figure like same height as my girlfriend like I saw the ponytail and everything walk past the bathroom door towards the kitchen of the apartment and like I felt guilty that maybe I woke her up so I like stuck my head out of the bathroom looked, didn't see anything, no other lights were on. I turned and like opened the door to the bedroom and my girlfriend was still asleep in bed. Well, then a couple of weeks later, I was home as we were getting ready for bed. And I was actually sitting on the bed in the bedroom, turning on the TV, you know, figuring out something to watch while we went to bed. and my girlfriend was like yelling at me like where are you like what are you what are you doing i was like i'm in the bedroom turning up the volume on the tv she walks out of the bathroom and into the bedroom she's like you weren't just out here i was like no i've been in here the whole time well she told me that she saw a face flesh colored but no like defining features like peeking around the wall, like counter height, like peeking around, like looking into the bathroom and then like ducking back behind the wall. And she thought I was like looking to see if she was about to walk out of the bathroom so that I could scare her. But I was in the bedroom and like on the opposite side of the door from the bathroom. So I would have had to walk past the bathroom to get into the bedroom. So she would have seen me. But yeah, so lots of activity in that apartment. And then we moved out of the apartment and we haven't had any activity since. But I thought you would enjoy that. Thank you. Thank you, Michael. I guess calling this a shadow entity might be a bit of a stretch. Shadow people don't typically look like someone you know. Especially not a living someone you know. Which makes me wonder if this wasn't one of those ghost of the living experiences. But why would the entity be in all black? Merely the silhouette of the girlfriend. Intriguing, to say the least. But you know what might be worse than a silhouetted significant other? A group of silhouetted strangers in your hallway. Please welcome Will from parts unknown. Hey Derek, this is Will. I'm calling you to tell you about a group of Shadow Man that my mom saw a couple of years ago while living at our old house. My bedroom sat directly on top of my mom's bedroom. We had a high rise ceiling so you can see the highway and the two bedrooms upstairs in the bathroom. So I wasn't home at the time, but my mom was watching television in her room. She heard footsteps walking upstairs and she thought I was up there. so she kept hearing that for a couple of seconds and then she heard a room door open and so she went out into the living room to check she said she saw a group of shadow people walking down the hallway and walking down the stairs and walked right out the front door she told me that they were a little transparent, but like a shadow. And that she could also hear mumbling coming from them before they exited out the front door. And I have experienced stuff in that bedroom for plenty of years. I've experienced a closed door opening and I've also experienced a sense of dread when I'm sleeping or trying to fall asleep in that bedroom. A couple of years later, we moved out and my friend was moving out of his house around the same time we were getting out of that house so we rented that house to him and his mom my friend was an artist so he used that bedroom as a studio and used a guest bedroom as his actual bedroom and his mom was also home alone and she said she heard walking upstairs and the same thing happened to her she exited into the living room and saw a group of shadow people walking out of that room, walking down the stairs and exited out the front door. He also told me that he had a friend spend the night and he stayed in his studio. And my friend went out to use the restroom in the middle of the night and saw my friend was sitting in the hallway with the lights on. And he told him what was wrong. And he said that the closet door started opening, which that happened to me all the time. He also told me one time that he was sleeping in that bedroom and he had canvases hanging on the wall in the hallway and he said around two o'clock he heard a loud bang and around 10 canvases fell to the floor at the same time his mom came out and they both hung all the canvases back up and he tried to hit the wall to see if that would knock him back down to the floor but it didn't he didn't understand what happened but I used to have friends over that house all the time and we played PlayStation downstairs and I had a couple of friends and even myself we saw shadow people looking down from the bars upstairs and my brother when he used to live with us he told me that he used to see dents on the bed and the dents will eventually start moving to the edge of the bed like if somebody was getting up, and he'll run out of the room. He told me a couple of times in the morning, when we were getting ready for school, that he'll run upstairs to get something from the room, and that he'll see a shadow person lying on the bed, calling him over. he would quickly run downstairs and let me know that he just saw something in the room and that he's not going back up there that's my story Derek I appreciate the podcast you do incredible work take care thank you Will a shadow person lying on the bed beckoning to your friend to come closer. I did not have that on tonight's bingo card. And what would have happened if he did acquiesce to the entity's request? Actually, on second thought, I don't want to know. But it sounds like an eerie place, Will. We thank you again for telling us all about it. now folks if you have a tale to tell call our hotline at 888-608-9 that's 888-608-NIGHT or you can record your story using your phone and email the file to me at monstersamonguspodcast at gmail.com now there are a few guidelines to calling in rules that are only there to make sure we can hear exactly what you're saying. So one story per call, one entry per story, true stories only. Call back if you need more than five minutes, we'll just splice it all together. And lastly, but most importantly, call from a quiet place. No moving vehicles, please. And no matter what your story is about, we look forward to hearing from you. Now up next, we venture to a far-off forest. Please welcome Dan to the program. Hello, my name is Dan. This story took place in Glamora, Louisiana about 45 years ago. When I was in my teens, my family and I were visiting my grandparents on my mom's side. I think it was my grandpa who suggested that my dad and I go squirrel hunting with him for a few hours. Now, I was excited over this because this was the first, and as it turned out, the only time I went hunting with my grandpa and my dad alone. No siblings, no cousins, just us. Needless to say, I was a happy kid. So my grandpa got his shotgun, and since this was the spur of the moment thing, my dad and I had not brought a gun with us. So my grandpa got my dad a rifle, and I got a pistol. I know, squirrel hunting with a pistol, right? I didn't care because I was going out with my dad and grandpa and it was just us and it was the start of a good day. We went down to the woods near where my grandpa lived and we started looking for squirrels. We didn't talk, of course, because we were hunting, but still I was happy. Well, my grandpa was not one to enjoy just being out hunting if he didn't see anything. And after almost an hour, I could see that he was getting ready to pack it in. There were no squirrels around and I was seeing my good day being ruined. Sure enough, my grandpa recommended that we head back. I asked why we tried a little longer. But my dad and grandpa were more interested in going home and getting some coffee. I was near a pine tree that happened to have no branches on the side of his own. I told him that I thought I saw a squirrel up high on it. I really did not see any squirrel, but I didn't really want to hunt the end. Both my grandpa and dad said that they did not see one, but I said it was up there. Grandpa said, well, if you see it, shoot it. If you hit it, we'll stay an extra 30 minutes. Now, I know I was being humored, obviously, because I didn't see one. But I really wanted to spend more time with these two men whom I respected most. So I said, okay. I took aim about 25 feet up the tree and shot it. I saw the shot hit the tree and resigned myself that the hunt was over. Now, this is the weird part. My dad was standing on my left, my grandpa on my right, and both in front of me and between me and a tree. If you imagine myself and a tree and the two of them forming a diamond shape. I took my shot. My grandpa looked at my dad and me in a way that announced that the hunt was over and we should be heading home now. At that moment, a squirrel dropped from the tree and fell dead center of that diamond. Dead. As I said earlier, there were no limbs on that side of the tree. but the squirrels dropped from the tree about two feet from the tree. It fell straight down. I looked at them and said, keep your eyes open. I would hate to be the only big game hunter here. So we stayed another 30 minutes but did not see another squirrel. Now the squirrel was an old scrawny thing. Hardly any meat on it at all. But here's the thing. There was no bullet hole in it. Did it die of a heart attack? I also remember it fell two feet straight down from a tree on the side that had no branches at all. Did an eagle or hawk happen to drop a catch right at the moment I needed a squirrel? Really? I know something about statistics, but I wouldn't want to calculate the probability of that. I don't necessarily believe in the guardian angel, but could some divine being had taken pity on me and offered the squirrel a deal to go to Squirrel Heaven if he'd agreed to go then? I don't know. It was just one of the strange things that's happened in my life and I'm left to wonder about. Thank you for the wonderful platform. I enjoy your podcast very much. Thanks again and good evening. Thank you, Dan. Now you have to imagine the commotion below the creature simply caused the little guy to die of fright. Which I guess Dan already proposed. Otherwise, it's really difficult to come up with an explanation as to how this poor squirrel met his end. Now, I wish I had an answer for you, Dan, but some mysteries just can't be solved. But I thank you again for sharing your squirrel tale. I highly recommend... 4 to 6 p.m., join me for... Starting a business can be overwhelming. It's time to see what you can accomplish with Shopify by your side. Three. Yes. Now who here is ready for a weird one? Please welcome Julie out of California. Hi Derek, my name is Julie and I'm calling in to tell you a story of what happened when I was a teenager. So at the time I was living with my great grandma in Southern California. She had an old ranch style house that was in a small town called Bloomington. this is right between Rialto and Riverside so one night I was just laying on the couch it was probably past midnight and I was the only one awake at the time so that couch was up against this big window that overlooked the back of the property and it was covered with these big heavy curtains and they were definitely closed the window was closed because we would close all of the windows and curtains before we would go to bed. So out of nowhere, I hear this humming noise coming from the front of the house over the house. And at first I thought it's just a helicopter passing by, but the sound became so loud and close to the house that I actually thought a helicopter is about to land in the backyard. This sound was what I would say is a humming noise. It didn't sound like chopping of a helicopter. It was just one low humming noise. Like it was the exact same note, just one long hum. And the sound became louder and louder until it sounded like it was right in the backyard, like at the same height as the roof. And once that noise was right there in the backyard, this bright green light started to shine in through that curtain. It went completely through the current and illuminated the entire living room. Now, as soon as I saw this light and the color, it was so clearly unnatural. I started to really get scared. I went from thinking maybe there's a helicopter and like maybe the police are looking for someone to wait a second. This is not normal. This is not natural. This is something completely out of the norm. my first instinct was to run out of the room to run to the rest of my family on the other side of the house and just get away from this light and the sound but I was so frozen with fear in that moment that my first instinct was then to just hide and be as quiet and still as possible so there was a blanket on the couch I pulled it off and I pulled it over my head and I didn't care if I couldn't breathe under that blanket. I just curled into the couch with that blanket on me. And I just held my breath. And I just tried to calm my heart. It was racing so fast in that moment. And I just felt so still. I felt like prey that was just trying to act dead almost. So even with this blanket over my head and me turned in toward the couch, this green light was still coming through the blanket. and the noise was just so intense and it was just this one low humming noise that it was just reverberating through the room and into my body. So I laid there for what felt like maybe 20 seconds. It definitely felt longer but logically thinking back to it was probably less than a minute and the sound started to lessen and it started to sound like it was going away from the house and toward those back properties. I stayed still under that blanket until I felt like the sound had gone completely away and disappeared and then I slowly peeked out from under the blanket and the room was black again. So the next morning I asked my family if they had heard anything and they slept completely fine that night. They did not hear anything, see anything weird? Nothing. So this has honestly stumped me for a long time. I've considered if it was sleep paralysis, but the fact I was able to move and I was even considering running and I was in complete control of my body. I was able to move, grab the blanket. I had turned my phone off. I was holding it close to me in case I needed to call someone. I had turned my body completely on its side into the couch so that I was as small as possible. I haven't heard of a sleep paralysis experience where people are able to move in that way. So all of these things together have made me think it's something alien, maybe UFO, maybe some kind of craft. But yeah, I would love to hear what you think. And I hope everyone's doing well. Thank you. Bye-bye. Thank you, Jolie. Another location just down the mountain from us, and my proximity to this location has me hanging on every word. I've been hearing a strange, deep droning sound myself, up here on the mountain. It's brief, pulsating, and goes away once I move my head back and forth, or at least I can't pick it back up once I do. It happens at all hours of the day, and night as well. I don't sleep well and I'll be up at 2, 3, 4 in the morning and I'll still hear it then. Sarah doesn't seem to be able to pick it up. But when I cover my ears, it goes away. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted if I figure out where the sound's coming from. But given Julie's entry, maybe I should be looking in the sky instead of around my house. Now, as for Julie's sighting, these green lights or lasers have been reported from all over the country. Florida and Hawaii are two places that I believe we've covered in past episodes. Now, the official explanation for these green lasers is that they're mapping terrain below using LIDAR. And Delaney actually found info about a survey that was conducted here in SoCal just five short years ago. In 2021, the Army Corps of Engineers did a coastal scan between San Diego and Los Angeles. So is it possible that their search grid extended to the Inland Empire, some 50 miles inland? And do those dates even line up with Julie's experience? She said where, but she didn't say when. Now, LIDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging, and it's a remote sensing method that uses pulsed laser light to measure distances to objects, creating precise high-resolution 3D models of the environment. And the reason I suspect this might be the culprit is twofold. First, the ominous green lasers. And second, the aircraft that carries said laser. Now we actually have a video of the Southern California survey in action, and it's actually being conducted by a large jet, flying at relatively low altitude. And here's exactly what that jet sounded like, via Sky Circles LA, on X. Hold on, what is that? Look at that. Look at that. Why are you scaring me? You got me scaring me. Look at that. Wait, wait, wait, wait. What the? I don't know. If you heard that passing by your house every couple of minutes, would you react the same way that Julie here did? Or is it possible there was something else at play here? Maybe something from out of this world. Now you can hit up the show notes to see examples of the lasers, see the grid pattern, and hear that chat. Just visit monstersamonguspodcast.com and click the show notes tab. Now, here's a weird one for you. Please welcome Rebecca out of Virginia. Hi, my name is Rebecca, and I'm calling from the state of Virginia. But the story takes place in my home state of Georgia, in a little town called McDonough, which is south of Atlanta. This took place, I want to say, in 2014, 2015. And I was a freshman or a sophomore in high school. But before I get into the story, I want to give you a little history about the city of McDonough. So back around 1900, there was this huge train crash on Camp Creek. I know that there's some signs around there that talk about like Georgia's Titanic. And that's what it's referring to. Back in, yeah, I think it was 1900. There was a season where a lot of rain had come through. It had been raining for I think like two weeks straight or something crazy like that And a train was leaving Macon Georgia on its way to Atlanta And when it got to McDonough it was supposed to stop and wait on another train But that second train never showed up. And so I think they got the orders to continue on. And they were going up towards Atlanta and they had to cross over Camp Creek. The engineer saw or maybe he kind of felt that it was the trestle portion of the track was not fully stable because of how much rain they had been having. The camp creek had risen so much that just like the brick that was holding the trestle together was chipped away. And so the engineer tried to slam on the brakes, but it didn't work. And the engine and the two passenger cars behind it just went crashing down into the creek. There was a fire as a result. So the engine caught on fire and the two absolutely destroyed passenger cabins, I guess. They also caught on fire and there was just no way to save those people. There was a third car and it was the last car. And the people that were in that car survived. But out of the like 50 souls on board, I think only nine made it. And when the rescuers came from McDonough, they couldn't really identify a lot of the bodies because of the damage that had been done to them in the fire or in the wreck or in the crash. And so they took the bodies back to the town square of McDonough. And a lot of them just stayed there until people could identify them. And some were ultimately never identified. But that's kind of the background of where people get the spooky stories from McDonough from. But when I was, like I said, a young teenager, I went to my friend Tyler's house. And when I went to his house, we just kind of hung out. And I was there with another two friends. And I don't know why, but I think they left the room to go get a game. And this was an old house. This was like a 1900 Victorian-esque house. But I think they left to go get a board game. And I stayed in this, like, sitting room, living room area. And the chair that I was sitting in was one of those, like, you know, tall, back, padded chairs. And I was reclining with my legs over one side of the arm and my back resting against the other side of the arm. But the back of the chair was to the fireplace in this house. And I was sitting there. I was minding my business. I think I was just hanging out and on my phone while I was waiting for everyone to come back with the game. and I noticed that I got a little cold or more accurately, I felt kind of a shiver go up my spine. And I don't know why this happened, but I feel like there was this voice or something in my brain that went, if you don't turn and look at it, it will touch you. And I turned and I looked at this fireplace that was behind the chair. And in the unlit fireplace, because this was like September or August, there was a face, just a pale white face. It was expressionless. It didn't have any motion. And the weird thing was, is the eye sockets were empty. And the mouth was just started slightly like you were breathing through the mouth. And as soon as I saw it, I froze. And it only took a second and it was gone. But it freaked me out. Like, I feel like I was just stuck there until I heard my friends come back in the room. And I jumped up from the chair and went to the couch on the other side of the room as far from the fireplace as possible. And I sat down. They're like, what's wrong with you? Like, what are you doing? Like, joking around and stuff. And then I told my friend who lived there what I had seen in the fireplace. And he let me know that that was not an odd occurrence. They knew something was in the house. Like, he knew something was there. And, you know, as teenagers, you're like, this is dumb. This is crazy. But it left a very big impression on me. so much so that I never went back ever again. It was just terrifying. But I don't know what I would have done if that voice hadn't said, if you don't turn around, it will touch you. And I did not want it to touch me. So that's my story. Thank you so much for the show. Stay spooky. Thank you, Rebecca. She's talking about the Camp Creek train wreck of 1900 And I posted a video of the wreck site present day And a reading of the list of victims Held just a few years ago Hit up the show notes to peruse those at your leisure But could that disaster have caused the strange message That Rebecca received? Can it be connected to the pale face That was seen in the fireplace? And I guess, more importantly, what the hell was that creature in the first place? I'm getting Pale Crawler vibes, for sure. Well, it's wild stuff, Rebecca. And we can't thank you enough for calling in. It ain't a one-hour television spectacular. Brought to you by the Ad Council. Starting a business can be overwhelming. So this happened back in 2011 and this happened at a hospital called St. Paul's Hospital which is downtown Vancouver and it's a hospital that's known for being a little bit creepy and probably really haunted. When this happened I was admitted into the hospital to have an emergency surgery but there was not a lot of room in the general ICU and at the time I had my youngest child was very, very little, still an infant. So they put me into the labor and maternity ward because they didn't have a lot of new babies that week and there was lots of space. So I was in a room that could easily have had four beds, but I was all alone for a couple nights waiting for this surgery. Surgery kept getting delayed because of one reason or another. So every night I would go to sleep and I would be told by the nurses, okay, it's been delayed, your surgery is going to happen tomorrow. And this was happening for a couple days. And on this one particular night, I was sleeping. It was about 1am and I was woken up by a touch on the shoulder, a physical touch on the shoulder. And there was a nurse standing beside me, but I wasn't sure if she was a nurse because she was a nun and she was dressed in a nun's habit and she was very kind. And she said to me, Laura, it's time to get up. It's time to go to the bathroom. It's time to use the bathroom, splash some water on your face, get ready. They're going to come down and they're going to call you for surgery any minute now. And I said, oh, thank you very much. And she tapped me on the shoulder and smiled at me reassuringly and she walked away. So I did what she suggested. I had a little gurney with some wires hooked up to my arm. So I had to take the little, you know, trolley with me. And by the time I got back, I laid back down in the bed and I was waiting for the next instructions. And a nurse came into the room and she was dressed in a nurse's uniform, just casual scrubs and sneakers. And she said to me, Laura, it's time to wake up. And I said, uh-huh. And she said, it's probably best to get up and go to the bathroom and, you know, get yourself prepared. They're going to call you in for surgery any minute. And I said, oh yes, I know. the other nurse that was just here, she already told me. And the nurse looked at me really quizzically and doubtfully. And I said, yes, the nun, the nun that was just here, she came in and she told me all this. So I'm all ready to go. I'm all set. And that's when the nurse said to me, there are no nuns that are at this hospital or that work at this hospital. And she gave me a little wink as to let me know, hey, you've had a visitation from one of the fabled St. Paul's ghosts. Anyhow, I think it was a good thing. I think I was being well taken care of and it was very sweet because the surgery went really well and I woke up from the surgery feeling really good with no side effects and the whole experience ended up being really wonderful. So I thought I would call that in for a experience with a hospital ghost that was a friendly nun. Thanks for listening. Thank you, Laura. A ghost in a hospital. You don't say. But at least Laura's entity had a good bedside manner. The same can't be said for all other hospital ghosts that I've heard of. And I guess it's even possible that this ghostly nun helped Laura through her procedure. If you're going to be haunted in a hospital, I think that's the best kind of ghost to be haunted by. So I beg thanks, Laura, for taking the time to share the phone call. Now gang, this next entry doesn't pertain to a hospital, but I feel like this location is at least in the same ballpark. Please welcome Brad from Ohio. Hi, Derek. This is Brad calling from Cincinnati, Ohio. I am calling to report a sighting from last night. I was at a grief support group at the Spring Grove Cemetery. If anyone's familiar with Spring Grove Cemetery, it is one of the oldest and largest cemeteries in the entire country. and we were inside one of the event centers. Somebody was talking about a visitation or supposed visitation that they felt that they had with their dearly departed loved one. And sure enough, there's a set of like doors that go to the outside. You can kind of see the cemetery through this, you know, wall of kind of glass and glass doors and whatnot. and one of the doors just blew open. And I mean, like, strongly blew open to the point where, like, some of us jumped. And we were looking and we were like, that was weird. And, I mean, we had a little bit of a wind and rainstorm earlier that day, but, you know, when we were kind of looking at this door that was open. There was no wind coming through and you have to unlatch it. It wasn't, you know, something that could be easily maneuvered. So a pretty strong force must have been able to unlatch the door and push it open or the door may not have been locked properly, but sure enough, it was just kind of spooky how somebody's talking about, you know, a loved one that may have been visiting them and we all kind of joked and felt oh it's a sign that they're still here they're still with us kind of a neat thing to have happen during the october meeting of this particular grief support group keep it spooky thank you brad certainly sounds like someone was stopping by to say hello. But how would you know which in the group was actually being visited? They're all there as part of their grieving process after all. Or maybe it was just a freak gust of wind at the weirdest of times, and it was merely the context that made it all feel paranormal. Now I sure don't know which it was, but I do know that the event made for a great story, Brad. So thank you again for taking the time to share. And folks, that takes us to tonight's final entry. A monster story. Please, welcome Anonymous out of parts unknown. Hey Derek. The story actually is related to my brother and two of my cousins that witnessed something in Spanish for Quito. This was back in 2009, right around that time frame. My brother was down in Spanish Fork, having a sleepover with my cousins, playing video games and doing the things you do with your cousins growing up, hanging out. And sometime around 11 or midnight, the three of them drove down to get some fast food. So they pick up some food, head back home, and they're getting their stuff out of the car, making their way up the driveway when they hear overhead a large bird lapping its wings. It was loud enough that the three of them looked up, and even though it was late at night, the moon was bright enough that it backlit whatever was making this noise. So when they looked up, all three noticed that what they were hearing was not actually a bird. It was higher up in the sky, but like I said, backlit, where they could tell that this creature had a humanoid figure, a humanoid body, and a very large wingspan. So when they noticed that, obviously they all freaked out and they ran and started banging on the front door to be let in. And my aunt was scared and opened the door, let them inside. And she says that she recalls them being, you know, distraught and very upset with what they had just seen. Like they had just seen a ghost. When she heard from them what they had seen, she went out to double check. But by then, you know, there was nothing there. So she does recall, like I said, saying that they were truly, truly scared. like there was no reason for them to lie about what they had just seen. I had also thought, you know, maybe high schoolers being high schoolers, maybe they had done something, drinking or anything like that, maybe some sort of substance. But my brother to this day is the kind of guy that won't even take a Tylenol because he thinks it's going to mess up his liver, his kidneys. So especially in those days even, that's just not the kind of guy that he was. And neither are my cousins, to be honest with you. We've seen birds around here. We have some sort of larger animals in the area, as far as birds go but nothing like that where you have that much confidence that what you seeing actually has a human figure and is that large So you know I interested to see if anybody else has had similar experiences and to get your thoughts on this story Thank you. We appreciate the time, caller. Now that list of large birds in Utah includes, but is not limited to, The Sandhill Crain, the American White Pelican, the Great Blue Heron, the Golden Eagle, and Turkey Vultures. And sometimes even exotics, like Pink Floyd. In 1988, Tracy Avieri had a brand new batch of Chilean flamingos. One flamingo named Pink Floyd hid while the rest of his flamingo friends were getting their wings clipped. Instead of submitting, Pink Floyd flew the coop. The flamingo disappeared and a search was called to find him. Soon, he was spotted in the Great Salt Lake where the food and water matched his native home. Aviary staff tried valiantly to catch him, but it was impossible. Eventually, it was decided that Floyd would simply live out there by himself. In the summer, he would fly north to Montana with packs of gulls or swans, and in the winter, he would arrive again at the Great Salt Lake. He grew a cold following, and Floyd's sightings were met with great enthusiasm. Pink Floyd lived like this in the wild until 2005. He never came back after that, and after 17 years of living in the wild, it's believed he passed on, though Salt Lake will never forget him. Now that info taken from Salt Lake City Television. And although the location of this sighting was miles from the Great Salt Lake, it did occur close to another large body of water. Utah Lake. So maybe Floyd made a trip down there and was spotted by our caller's brother and cousins. Except that there's one problem here. As the video mentioned, Floyd seemingly passed away back in 2005. So if it were a flamingo that they saw, it would likely be a different one. But outside of strange birds, what could we be talking about here? The description sounds eerily similar to the Mothman of West Virginia and Chicago lore. A dark humanoid with large wings and bright red eyes. Now here on Monsters Among Us, we pride ourselves on our ability to find obscure stories, reports, and claims. After all, if someone else has seen and reported the exact same thing that our witness had, that's gotta count for something. so we did some digging, and what we found might shock you, because it shocked me. As it turns out, the area of Utah Lake has quietly collected accounts just like this for a number of years. I was able to find a mention of a sighting that took place in the nearby Salina area, less than 100 miles from the sighting our caller's kin had. The witness was camping when he saw a large humanoid creature with wings fly overhead Then in June of 2013, another witness laid eyes on a similar creature And they actually made a report The following was pulled directly from the Phantoms and Monsters website In June of 2013 in Salina, Utah, I was walking under a street lamp with a friend He was talking, and I was looking at the stars as we walked. We walked under a street lamp that was also shining light upward. Plain as day, I saw a flying humanoid, head, body, arms, and legs, almost like a human, fly above the street lamp, flying about 10 feet from the edge of the asphalt road, 30 to 40 feet off the ground, flying in the opposite direction as we were walking. The creature was traveling south on the west side of the road. The height, I would say, is around the size of an adult human. Its arms, legs, and body were athletic-looking, but looked like it had hardly any muscle. It had five fingers like us, but had three toes. The toes narrowed a bit to a point, like a cone or a triangle. It had two wings, one coming off each shoulder. The length of the wing was about the length of the creature's arms. The wings were narrow and had very little surface area. I did not see the creature flap its wings to fly. Its wings looked too small to support its body. Plus, the body was parallel to the ground and was elongated, like it was laying down while flying. It had small hook-like things that came off its leg and mid-calf area and phased outward. I did not see any breast or a penis. I don't know what sex it was. Hopefully it doesn't reproduce, but I'm sure it does. Well, that kind of went off the rails there a bit at the end, but how similar are these two reports? And again from the same 100-mile swath of Utah. But believe it or not, this all gets much weirder. 100 miles to the north and 115 years earlier, an aerial beast of a similar description. was terrorizing the beehive state. An article was published in the July 30th, 1903 edition of the Salt Lake Telegram, and it mentions this creature, a monster that was spotted by two hunters near Standbury Island. The description they gave goes as follows. The head was like an alligator's, and it was nearly 15 feet in length. Its mouth was armed with immense serrated teeth, opening wide enough to admit a horse. Its body was presumably scaly, but so encrusted with salt that it could not be seen. Its eyes were very large, round, and burning with a bright red light. And its wings were bat-like, spreading probably 100 feet from tip to tip. So could all of these creatures be one and the same? could they all be some sort of mutant humanoid animal gifted with the ability of flight and the talent for terrifying town folk and could these things have been around for a long long time and is it possible that they're still there now one last thing i will say before we move on here tonight is that there are many petroglyphs and pictographs in the area that seem to depict something at least similar. Very tall, bug-like, seemingly winged humanoid entities. And even more, some of this cave art dates back a millennia. So maybe we've pulled the right thread here, caller. Maybe there is a Utah Mothman out there. I'm gonna do some asking around. I promise this won't be the last you hear of this creature. Until then, though, big thank you, caller, for joining us here this evening. And an even bigger thanks to you, dear listener, for tuning in. When you think about all the names you just mentioned. Well gang, for tonight's secret entry, we need to get in the right headspace. Picture yourself in a darkened Oregonian graveyard. Shadows dance. The wind whistles. And every rustling leaf is another heart attack. Please welcome Sam to the program. Hey there, Derek. This is Sam. I live here in Idaho, but the story actually takes place back in Oregon. I was listening to your Oregon special, and it was just kind of making me think about the story. have been debating about calling in or not. I had this friend I grew up with back in the Grand. My friend Michael and I, we grew up together in the Grand before I moved over to Idaho as an adult. And Mike and I, one day when we were fresh in high school, snuck out one night. We went to the graveyard that's just right by the retirement home there in the Grand. And as we're walking around, I'm recording on my phone. Mike's saying he's hearing things. I'm not hearing anything, you know, but I'm just kind of talking to him as I would. and it's maybe one in the morning around this point it's super clear night and mike says he hears something i don't initially hear and say anything i'm just kind of talking i just kind of talk over it and then he tells me be quiet looking back on the recording just after he tells me to be quiet there is the laughter of what to me sounds like a little girl i don't have the full original recording i have a little snippet i saved of that small little piece right there we are towards the front of the graveyard by the fence walking down the front row there when that happened there was no one else in the graveyard there's apartments like a block and a half away but we wouldn't have heard anyone laughing at that point especially not picked up on my phone audio in 2014 it was something i uh shared with him when bill found really spooky the reason i'm debating about whether or not she called the story in or not is Mike passed away in 21. It was a really, really hard time for me. Shortly after he passed away, I actually had a dream about him. Sitting down talking to him, just kind of felt like he was trying to say goodbye. Yeah, I'm going to send in that voice recording and have a bit, just snip the audio off of it because it's the only thing I can find. So I'm a Patreon subscriber now. I love the podcast, Derek. You helped me for my work day. Thank you, guys. Thank you Sam And I'm really sorry to hear about your loss But I am anxious to share this EVP Sam came through and sent in the recording And here it is In full Cover the light There's people Now I'll loop the part that I think he's referring to a couple of times here. There's people. There's people. So what do you think here, folks? Could this be the laugh of a ghostly little girl? Or the beep of some electronic equipment? The chirp of a night bird? Or something else entirely? It's fun stuff, no matter what the sound is, Sam. And we really appreciate you taking the time to share it here with us. And folks, it's that time of the evening. My name is Allie. I'm calling from Central Valley, California. I wanted to call and share a shadow person experience that I've had for years and years. It's unlike any other shadow entity experience I have ever heard. until I was listening to Theism 18, Episode 11, Uriel's story. Uriel talked about seeing a shadow person in his house that was very big and very muscular. That is exactly what I have seen for years and years in my house. The way that my house is laid out, it's a very large square footage house at the bottom story. It's a very long, narrow house, and that's where the main living is. My father, who stays with us, he lives upstairs, and upstairs is very much like in-law quarters, a fairly large bedroom with almost like one of those dormer punch-outs where he puts his desk and he can work. There's a full bathroom, and then outside of that bedroom, where the stairs lead up to, is a very large loft. So you walk up the stairs and that's where you get into the loft area. And then you would immediately turn right into the bedroom area. When my father stays with us, I always saw the shadow man at the top of the stairs. The best way I can describe it is Imagine a very dark Captain America. I know that sounds odd, but quite literally, Captain America. Very tall, very defined. Starting a business can be overwhelming.
