Hello, I'm Pablo. And I'm Mark. Welcome back to Scenes from the Coffee Break Spanish Cafe. And this is our final episode of the series. I'm feeling a bit agridulce. Agridulce in Bitter Street, yes. It's the end and I think this episode will be exciting. But on the other hand, it's a shame for me. Because the characters are part of my family or my group of friends. We have been following their stories for some time. This is certainly the end of this season. Who knows what will happen next. We'll talk about that later. It's time to fader what's going to happen in today's episode. So we had a first date between two young people in the bar. And yeah, it was a nice romantic episode last time. Let's see what today's episode has in store. It's been a perfect time. A spring day, of those in which the sun is hot. And the terraces start to be full from noon to midnight. Every day is closer to summer. My favorite season of the year. Although I must admit that this spring is really nice. Another thing that makes me happy is the great family we have formed in Casa Isa y Manu. The nurses, my children of gold, and their wives, Elena and Miguel, Harvey and all the usual clients that they usually visit. It's been a special day for a very special night. Lola, one of the nurses, has spent all the phases of the casting and finally is going to compete in OT. We are all excited because tonight is on TV. She will compete with the rest of her colleagues to see if she can make it to the next phase. She sings like angels and also has a lot of art. It's impossible for her to go wrong. In the bar we have organized everything to meet and listen to her sing. We have prepared a big screen on the terrace and all the usual have accompanied us. Her husband, her daughter and her parents have also come. Some friends from her neighborhood and of course all the nurses from her plant. It has been great to see her act. She has made us very excited because she has sent us a kiss from the TV and she has given us the support. As expected, she has sung in a scandal and has gone to the next phase. We will have to repeat this joke when it comes to the end. What's up? I've got the perfect closure for this season. I love it. Today has been another day for the memory. It's been another day to remember. It's been a great time. It's been a great time. A spring day for those who the sun is hot and the terraces are filling up from noon to night. I love it. I like this. It's been a great time. The weather has been perfect. Today is spring day. One of those spring days when the sun warms you. The terraces are filling up and the terraces are filling up from midnight to night. I want to be in a terrace now. Every day is closer to the summer. I must admit that spring is enchanting. Every day is closer to the summer. Every day is closer to the summer. The summer gets a little closer. This is one of these interesting sentences where we see our subject right at the end of the sentence. Every day is closer to the summer. We could have said Every day is closer to the summer. Every day is closer to the summer. Every day is closer to the summer. My favorite season of the year. I must admit that spring is enchanting. I must admit that I am really enjoying this spring. I love it. Encantar is the verb to enchant. We have the present progressive form here. It is emphasizing the fact that the enjoyment of spring is growing all the time. Yes. This happens to me every summer in Scotland. When I am a little bit deceived because there are two weeks of sun. And then I am waiting for the summer. And the summer is rainy. That is our typical Scottish summer that happens for a few days in me. But it does not always fail. Another thing that chokes me is the great family that we have formed in Casa Isa and Manu. The nurses, my gold guys and their women, Elena and Miguel, Harvey and all the usual clients that they visit. Another thing that chokes me. This is a colloquial verb. It means I love, I adore, something like that. So another thing that I love is the great family that we have formed in Casa Isa and Manu. The great family that we have created in Casa Isa and Manu. The name of the bar. The nurses, my gold boys and their wives, Elena and Miguel, Harvey and all the regular customers who usually visit us. And all the usual clients that visit us. Lovely verb, solar. I love that verb. It's easy how they tend to visit us, the often visits. Very good. It has been a very special day for a special night. So it's been a day of preparation. It has been a very special night for a special night. It has been a special night for a very special night. Lola, one of the nurses, has spent all the phases of the casting and finally is going to compete in OT. Oh, that's good. Something cultural here as well. OT, Triumphant Operation. We already saw it. So Lola, one of the nurses, has spent all the phases of the casting. She's made it through all the stages of the audition. And finally, and in the end, she's going to compete in OT. She's going to compete in the Operation Triumphant, the talent show. Yes, yes. We're all excited because tonight she's appearing on TV. So we're all excited because tonight she's appearing on TV. Mark, have you ever seen TV? Yes. Count me. Oh, oh, oh. But... If you want, of course. If you're going to see a movie, no. No, it wasn't like 20 years ago. I was doing that education project. And we did a great movie festival, that the children had done in the schools where they worked. And then we did it with a night of the Oscars or something like that. And the BBC came to Scotland. Yes. And they interviewed me. And what exact date was it? So that you can look for it in the BBC's file to see you? Oh, no, that was before the iPlayer and all that. It's a joke. 2005, 2006. Well, I think he'll be there. Very good. And you? Once I was only watching a TV show of these in which they interview as a public. But I barely saw a second on camera. I mean, he doesn't count. Okay, let's continue. Concurs with the rest of his teammates to see if he goes to the next phase. So concurs from the concursar to compete. So she's competing con el resto de sus compañeros with the rest of the contestants or with literally with her companions para ver si pasa a la siguiente fase. To see if she moves on to the next round. So she sings like an angel, canta como Los Ángeles y además, and what's more, tiene mucho arte. So tener arte is, it means that she's got a lot of charisma, she's got a lot of charm and so on. Is that a regional expression? So it's impossible for things to go badly for her. So es imposible que le to her vaya subjuntive mal. But let's talk about that subjuntive. Venga. Before we stop for a little break. Bueno, pues te tenemos un trigger como bien has dicho y aquí estamos dando una opinión pasando, passing judgement on something. And that's precisely what the subjuntive comes into play here. Normally, we often think of a subjuntive as introducing doubt. But in this case it's actually not about doubt because es imposible que le vaya mal. It's like there's no way that things could go badly for her because she's got lots of art. You can't even say that. So Pablo says es imposible que es one of these triggers. It's impossible that followed by a subjuntive. Ok, let's take a quick break and we'll be back in just a moment. We've organized everything para reunirnos so that we can get together, we can gather y escucharla cantar and listen to her sing. So we set up a big screen. The usual crowd, everyone of normal, the regulars, nos han acompañado. They came along, they joined us. Okay, so han venido también. Also, they came, her husband, her daughter, and her parents. Algunas amigas de su barrio, some friends from her neighborhood y por supuesto, and of course, todas las enfermeras de su planta. All of the nurses from her, literally her floor, her ward came. Perfecto. Okay, ha sido genial verla actuar. So it was wonderful to see her perform, actuar. Nos ha hecho mucha ilusión. It was really exciting for us. Made us excited, made us happy, it was thrilling. Porque nos ha mandado un beso desde la tele because she blew us a kiss from the TV y nos ha agredecido el apoyo and she thanked us for her support, el apoyo. Okay. Como era de esperar, literally as it was to be expected, as expected. A cantado de escándolo. So literally she sang scandulously. But basically, it's an idiom. It means she sang amazingly, she sang incredibly well. Y ha pasado a la siguiente frase. And she, I'll explain why I said that in a moment. She went on, or she went through to the next round. A la siguiente frase, not frase. But a la siguiente frase, which is what we used to see in the intermediate of season three, I think, of level three. No me acuerdo yo tampoco. La siguiente frase came out of my brain rather than la siguiente frase. Okay, let's continue. So we'll need to repeat this evening, cuando llegue a la final, when she makes it to the final. Claro, claro, claro. Okay, so we'll need to repeat this evening, this whole celebration when she makes it to the final. Because in this case we don't know if she will make it to the final. No lo sabemos, no lo sabemos. Nos quedamos con la intriga. So there we have it, the final episode, a celebration, not just of the fact that their friend has made it to a late stage in this competition, but also a little bit of a celebration of the community around the bar. Because it's a community of friends, a community of people who depend on each other and enjoy spending time in each other's company. Okay, we'll listen one more time and listen out for all of the aspects of the story that we've mentioned. So one last time to mention of course that this episode is part of our coffee break scenes course.
