The No Laying Up podcast covers Round 1 of the 2024 Masters, with Rory McIlroy and Sam Burns leading at 5-under par. The hosts analyze standout performances, course conditions that proved exceptionally challenging, and emerging storylines including Patrick Reed's resurgence, Scotty Scheffler's solid positioning, and notable struggles from favorites like Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm.
Insights
- Augusta's firm, fast greens and difficult setup created a proper test (2.0 on proper test index) with only 5 rounds in the 60s and 10 in the 80s, rewarding precision and penalizing mistakes more severely than recent years
- Rory McIlroy's victory in the career Grand Slam last year appears to have reduced pressure, allowing him to play more freely and take calculated risks without fear—a psychological shift that could sustain his performance
- Equipment choices (like Bryson's single-length irons) that work elsewhere fail at Augusta due to uneven lies and demanding short-game requirements, suggesting course-specific skill sets matter more than technological innovation
- The Masters' broadcast and merchandise expansion (Amazon Prime coverage, expanded merch lines, celebrity appearances) risks diluting the event's traditional appeal and focus on golf itself
- Jon Rahm's poor performance (78) despite being a top favorite raises questions about LIV Golf's preparation for majors, particularly regarding competitive environment and schedule continuity

The right club. Be the right club today. Yeah. That's better than most. How about him? It is better than most. Better than most. Expect anything different. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the no laying up podcast, no laying up live show guys. The first day of the masters comes but once a year and we had a great one today. If I may say some great stuff going on. We've got Rory McElroy and Sam Burns in the lead. We've got a bunch of great chasers. So it was out there on the golf course, watching it all unfold solely. How are you my man? You know, my good friend Randy once said, had some very wise words and says, you know, you can't win the masters on Thursday, but you can lose it. I almost lost it today. I went too hard. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm tired. I went iced coffee like seven o'clock tonight just to, just to get some re-energize, get re-energized for tonight because I got about 40,000 steps in probably today. We were, we were working hard on the beat out there. I love it. I love it. Hopefully making some phone calls. We'll see. We'll check on that later. The great man, Randy's going to be, he's going to be coming through later. Neil's going to be coming through later. Neil's big brother is here. Of course, and Trump, weird day for you. Awesome day. P read Tommy Fleetwood, Bryson falling apart and getting chipped. I mean, there's just so many directions for you to, you to go today. Yeah. I woke up. I was ungodly hung over this morning. Really? Oh, that's right. Happy belated birthday. Yeah. I woke up and just, yeah, just laid on the couch and watch, watch the masters 12 hours straight. It's great. I love it. I really look forward to having the John wrong discussion. I look forward to that as well. I got early deflection from the Ludwig discussion. I thought we'd get there in the first five minutes. It's, it's impressive. He had a little brown out for about four holes there, but I like, I don't think we need to have the big Ludwig discussion tonight. I think we need to have the discussion of, you got to shut 78 today. I think we need to probably discuss a lot of things today guys. And this week is an absolute showcase. We know that the golf course, the players, the patrons, the merch, the pageantry, there's so much to take in guys. Also a showcase for the brands. You're likely to see them showing up, showing off, showing out this week more than any other. No one has done it more often, more consistently than our friends at foot joy this year. Always foot as always foot joy is the number one shoe at the masters. And we're seeing their full arsenal on display from the premier series, Wilcox, the Packards and the fields to the hyper flex traditions and pro SL a golf shoe for every player and every moment, including the biggest stage in golf. When it matters most, the world's best players choose foot joy. Speaking of foot joy, I saw a little bit of, you know, there's always special edition things going on at the masters. I saw some special edition foot choice out there. You know, looked like Cam Young, maybe had a little something going on, maybe Mason Howell, the young amateur had something going on, just a good, you know, a good little weekly, weekly special that they had going on, maybe a little homage to tea, Olive, the first hole at Augusta. Keep an eye out for that as, as the week kind of rolls on here. But as I said, we got it. We had a really good day at the master Sam Burns, Rory McElroy, both five under par 67 today, Kurt Kitty, I'm adjacent day solid. We heard all those bird bets that were getting placed. Maybe start clearing out some space in your backyard for some new bird feeders. The great man P read, they are all in at 69 and then Shay Lowry, Xander Shoffley, Justin Rose and Scotty Schaeffler all in at 70. After that, I was going to start by asking you guys what the story of the day is. I'm going to grab the ball here and just say it's Rory McElroy guys. He won the career grand slam. Last year he did not look great on the front nine today. The first couple of holes he was, he was shaky. He was kind of driving it all over the lot. And I think we saw a little bit of that, you know, playing free, playing loose. Let me just kind of watch me make par from here type of type of vibe. And it all added up to 67 at the end of the day. So I don't know if you saw any of Rory or if you want us to take this. I didn't see it's not in person, but I got of course, courtesy of going to masters.com and go watch the whole round in about five minutes. And I expected to see like, all right, just bully Rory McElroy like here he goes, freed up going to dominate. And what I, I don't, I guess I'm, I walked away kind of complicated feelings about this round. I think the one takeaway I did have though was like, man, we've, I think we've been saying for like a decade and a half now this course is and should be tailor made for your game. And you know, like the scale just fits the, the, the length of his tee shots and the scale of the hole should fit really, really well. And like you're watching, he hits it to like hit like 106 yards into the 14th hole today is kind of what I'm, what I'm getting at there. And it was an imperfect round from him that he shot five under like you watch a bunch of, you know, some pretty shaky approach shots that just kind of end up in the right spots around the green. It looked like a veteran round from Rory, a round where he didn't press when he was even par through seven and hitting it all over the map. And then just took care of business, made a couple of putts. Like, you know, Scottie had a couple of misses from, you know, from good range on, on eight on 15 and his day probably looks a lot different. Rory bot makes a bomb putt on 15 and his round looks a lot prettier at minus five. So I don't, I don't know, I don't know what to say to them. He didn't like, he didn't play perfect, did not play amazing golf, but shoots 500 has the lead. That could mean one of two things like unsustainable or like, Hey, he got maybe kind of got away with less than perfect golf and shot 500 in his best golfs ahead of him. But man, it's, it's, it's a, I did not expect 500 par out of Rory today. It was, it was a little quiet on the chatter going into this week and an incredible, incredible start for me. Now the favorite to win this year. TC, would you, would you see out of the rib today? Yeah, it seemed like today, like maybe today was going to be the toughest round for him to, you know, coming off a Tuesday night and, and all that. And I think got this one out of his system and first round leader 67. And I think he like, like Sally said, I can go one of two ways. He can keep it rolling, clean, clean it up, especially off the tee a little bit, or he can, you know, kind of be exposed in certain spots of not being as sharp as he has been in years past. So I'll be very, very curious to see what, which direction it goes tomorrow. That's that. And he's out in the afternoon tomorrow. Yeah, I can't wait to watch crispy as hell. Yeah, I can't wait to watch his round of golf tomorrow. Right. Like today, today, I think it's, it's where everybody's head goes. I think, you know, is like, Oh man, the pressure's off. He talked about it. It's not just, it's not just the masters that I was trying to win. It's the masters and the grand slam at the same time and all the scar tissue and teeing it up for the first time this year. Like without all of that has to be a wildly different feeling to where when you do drive it in the trees, it's kind of like, Oh, I mean, it's not the end of the world. Whereas I feel like in previous years, it probably was like a, all right, let me get back at, let me, let me go in this right now. Yeah, totally. And it just, it felt like a living, breathing embodiment of like the golfers cliche today, which is like, man, when you just kind of hold it pretty loosely and you can just kind of take the punches as they come. It turns out that it always adds up to something a little better than it looks like. And that was like when he did snap in and he hit those drives on, you know, what was it 14 and 17 and some of those just like, Holy shit, man. If he figures the driver out a little bit, like it's, yeah, of course we're going to see two in a row, you know, but it's, he gained strokes off the tee on the front nine. That's what I mean about the course fitting his game so well was like, dude, I don't know if he could have driven it much worse on those replays and he still gained off the tee. And like the shot though that I was blown away by I've gone back and watch it like four times. I assume it was three would I don't think he has a five would in the bag this week. On eight on eight, he's in the right rough and just hits like a choked up so running three would onto the green and makes an easy two putt birdie. But yeah, he cleaned up. He birdied all the par fives birdie nine hit a great shot in there and had made a great putt on that one and then birdied 14 after flipping a wedge in there from 106 yards like that. So again, it just kind of felt like the what should be the median round for Rory at August and what has made the last decade and a half frustrating. And even when it all went his way last year, he tried to try to give it away. So I have not bought the freed up Rory thing, but now I'm kind of like, I mean, kind of do you know, do we just go in and now see a version of him that is not afraid of a lot of these moments and watching back him talking about last year? I was like, dude, he was afraid of it. Like, yeah, of course. Yeah, it feels lower stakes now. Yeah. Or in a good way. It is. It's the second lowest opening round of his career. You can probably guess the first one. He's 65 back in 2011. He also, I mean, it's been a while since he's been able to really hang up a good one in the first round. He hasn't been better than 71, I believe, since in the opening round. He's been better than 71 since 2018. Another good stat last defending champ to lead after 18, like the following year after they won Jordan Spieth in 2016. So, you know, watch out for that 1011 12 and you know, maybe you're going to be, you're going to be fine. But awesome day for Rory. We'll hear more. Neal is going to jump on the show a little bit later. He followed him closely. I know, maybe pick the wrong holes. Stretching gave up on him after seven. Bad investing by the beluga there, but we'll, we'll see how that goes. But TC, I'll throw it to you. Where do you want to go next as far as stories of the day here? Let's get Burns out of the way. No, no slight to Burns, but I just, I didn't see a ton of that round. It was, it was early. It was, you know, obviously Bermuda over seated with, with perennial ryegrass Burns. Really good round. I think he, you know, obviously tied for the lead, but another one where it's like, you know, he had the eagle on two and then yeah, just kind of cruise control in the back. Him and, him and Rory both. I mean, the, you're going to hear it over and over and over and over this week, but the whole thing with Augusta national is just go murder the par fives. And I mean, that was kind of Rory's thing was like even on the par fives, I think eight was the only one he even had a chance to hit in two. And he obviously did, but the other ones like he's laying up, he's hitting, he's coming into number two from the trees. He's, he's doing all kinds of things, but still, you know, gets all the par fives as does Sam Burns played him in five under with the eagle on number two. But a couple of things with for, for him there is record kind of stinks here. You know, I know he's not been a major championship killer outside of those, you know, a couple of us open appearances the last couple of years, but two miss cuts and four starts his best finish years, T 29, but data golf had this as his second best major round of his career after the 65 he shot at Oakmont last year. So we will see how he holds up. Data golf also had some good stuff on his chipping. I didn't realize how bad of a chipper he used to be. And that was, they were just kind of setting up a flare for both him and Gary Woodland on, you know, everything's going great. This is awesome. If the ball striking waivers watch this space because that's, that's been the other big thing with this firm setup is it's just kind of my favorite, right? It's like all these stats are like sliders that affect everything else. Right. It's like, if you don't drive it in the fairway, your approach game is probably not going to be that good. If your approach game is not that good, it puts a lot of stress on your chipping. And so it's like, you might see chipping numbers are bad and it's actually because somebody's driving it really bad. So it's just a fun week from that, from that perspective. And needless to say the variety of shots you see out there, it's even more telling on the ground. I mean, where the pin was today, like on 14 on the front right knob, which was super good. Dude, I followed so much P read today and I swear to God, every time I looked at it, I was like, that's another right pin. Another right pin, but it was just overcame it. He did. We'll get to P. No, let's get, let's get there now. Yeah. I think he's the story of the day for me. Like I, I'm just incredible. Incredible restraint for UTC. He came out fire and his swing looks so freaking good. Why does it look so good? I don't know. It looks so different. You said that. I was like, how different can it look? And I looked at the highlights. I was like, damn, man, that's a good look at golf swing right now. Love twirling. Absolutely everything. There's no, no, that like God, or up just kind of like throwing the body at it, hands or feet getting out of it. It just looks good. I mean, birdies one Eagles two Eagles eight. It kind of petered out a little bit on the back nine, but he battled. He's out midday, like 1240 1212 50 tomorrow. So it'll be interesting. But I think I'm to the point I texted you guys this earlier. I think P is like legitimately my favorite player. They're player to watch your favorite player. Just like favorite player. Like it's, it's like there's this, it's like Tommy. And then there's this next rung down and it's like P Ludwig, the great man team rose in speed, like those four right in that next rung. I think so Tommy's still, still lead dog, but P is just, I mean, Sally, I heard Lady J was out there. She was just, I heard kind of a, a cow, cowgirl rodeo. I think rodeo is good. I heard, Sally, I do want to hear your insights, but I think we had some on the ground reporting as well from, from our guys scoops, Cody, maybe on, on P read. It is a beautiful morning here to Gus, the national golf club or young Patrick Reed has reached into Augusta's pocket and stole an eagle on the second hole. Smashing rab, shout out to Keith Foster. He is a man on the loose wanted man on the front line at Augusta. That was the first crystal that's a foster. That's by, that's, that's by his turtle. Right. Yeah, for sure. What, what'd you see on the ground? So I take, take us there. What did we miss? It was a, I, I, back to TC's becoming your favorite golf. It's fun. We're funny. You have on that that like Bryson did like a full rebrand of like, all right, now I'm like a new person. I'm a new man. I'm just going to totally reinvent myself with a facade for the media and everything I do. But P just stayed the exact course, didn't change a damn thing. He just decided to come back from live and it is like a, it, it, it's become more interesting. He's become, I wouldn't say he's become less hated because it is still like we were standing in the first T today and he was the first to tee off on one. And, you know, he teased off and my wife kind of mentioned to me as like, Oh, I didn't even, I didn't even hear him get introduced. Like I didn't even hear an applause. I was like, yeah, nobody really clapped for him on one. And then when he made a par putt on 11 and like this, this like group of people right to the right of me, which we didn't realize at the time, honestly felt like reed plants of some kind. One guy cheered way too loud for like a reed made putt and everybody in the city like turned around and look at the guy like, huh, what was that? Like, what's that all about? And the guy just started muttering stuff under his breath. He said something like, um, he was calling the captain. He's like, oh, should have been on every Ryder Cup team. Like saying it really loud to make sure everybody around her like they did this guy so dirty. He should be on every Ryder Cup team. They were like, they must have been his family. I don't know if they were extended family members or what. I don't know if they had the keys to the the use golf facts, Twitter account, whatnot, but we fallen for a long, long time until we saw Lady J. It was quite late in the day. She had boots on. She had writing are they writing breaches? I heard bridges when my wife told me that, but I was getting roasted online. Bridges or breaches. I don't know exactly, but they had like a leather in that. Let us know when Neil comes by. What you were in a helmet? She had a hat on with her hair just cut straight across in the back. You know, big Dolce and Cabana purse and all that stuff. And, uh, wait, so it's all you left. Like you saw her and then you walked the other way and left the group. Why would why on earth would you do that? I didn't, I did not leave the group. No, I wrote them. I wrote the P group all the way out. You said you said you were with the group until you until you said, okay, I was, I was like, wait, did Lady J. Scare you off or something? No, no, no, no, no, that with that group of the, the, the plants, I was with them. And then eventually I did not see Lady J until late in the day is what I'm saying. We were, we were, we were head on a swivel too. We were looking for the whole time. I did like this comment here. I heard somebody on the broadcast say, let's go captain. I was like, what are you talking about? That's what it was. That's what it was. They kept calling the captain. He had a head like George Thomas. I mean, he's probably the best chipper of the golf ball outside of Scotty. It's insane how greasy he is. Have you guys seen the chip he had on 15? He went long in the water and I mean, we went all the way around behind 16 to watch that one. And it looked so impossible from there. And it is not like an amazing, amazing, amazing shot that like two inches, but like we watch Woodland basically lay up from back there because of how difficult that pitch was. Dude, I think just to get one on the green from that spot is like one of the shots of the day. That's what I'm calling the spirit airlines counter back there. Like the Delta counters left it to the spirit airlines counter. Like it's a lot more rude and less customer service. Back there too. I know a lot of guys back there today. He missed in the front bunker on 12, got up and down from there. Like he's in the swing just looks it's so short and sawed off and efficient right now. There's just not that much that can go wrong. The driver looks much improved over what it was a couple of years ago. And he's I feel like he's just riding momentum from being at the top of the fedora five for months now. I totally agree. I totally agree. Yeah, it's it felt a little unsustainable and sustain nation. It did. He gained like three and a half shots putting I think today on the field and also hold an eagle putt from off the green. Like the putting the putter was just out of control today. And yeah, the pitch he hit up the hill on 14 he almost hold that one. It was it was awesome to watch him work the magic around the greens like the only he only gained three quarters of a shot around the greens. The eye test would tell a different story for how difficult a lot of those shots was. Only only thing I'll say. So every data golf has info going back to the twenty twenty one masters. Every masters he's gained strokes on the green. You might just put might just put the shit out of this place. And he's got all the metal in the world. Yeah. Yeah. It's God. What a thrill that was seeing him up at the top of the board. But I'll go. I'll go next. I'll throw it to Scotty. I think I mean, I think that felt like just a very interesting round of golf 70 playing as the golf course probably got its toughest in the afternoon. I think there were a lot of people kind of myself included who watched him play one, two and three and were a little bit like, oh man, it's too bad this master isn't going to be competitive this year. Like this. Unfortunately, it's over. And then there was just enough kind of slop and battling the elements and firmness of the greens and things to to keep it really interesting. But I think he looked. I think his iron play was probably better even than it. The numbers made it look. I think about like that shot he hit on 14. I don't know if you saw that one. Sorry, but just throwing it out to that left side and catching the perfect part of the slope and dripping it in there to whatever that was 10 feet, seven feet, just like one of my favorite. Like one of my favorite shots I saw all day today. And so I don't know, just kind of a perfect, a perfect spot where I found myself really, really fantasizing about like Rory and Scotty going head to head on a perfectly conditioned golf course on Sunday is you could sign me up for that. That sounds about as good as it gets. Yeah, I think that's fair fantasy right now. I mean, it just didn't seem like he had his best stuff today and he's two under in sixth place and again, like I just he kind of seems still seems inevitable there. I'd be very surprised if he went backwards tomorrow. The third shot into 13 looked so difficult. So far. Everybody in that group hit it over. Dude, you just went with Woodland and Big Shot Bob, right? I think everybody, everybody hit that pitch shot over the green, which is means it's hard. Being in person at the mat. It's really, it's awesome to be in person at the Masters, of course. It is can be very frustrating at times when you're out there of like, gosh, I kind of wish I was in front of a TV right now and I could watch all the shots happening, but also just to be able to see it all up close of what the we all know about the slopes and the undulation all that but up close of like, dude, how would you ever get this close to this one? I still don't know how anybody ever finishes the 15th hole. I honestly don't. Like how difficult that one was playing today. Where the tee shots end up again to like just to the naked eye. I was like, oh, they got a layup from there and you just watch them know they're just blasting irons over the water with zero inhibition and zero fear into these greens and it just it blows in watching. I mean, have you guys seen Ludwig's chip on 13? I mean, you see, you see that one. I did see that one. We saw him go long with his approach and then like we I was got distracted. I was talking and I looked up and he was back across raised Creek chipping like what in the hell happened? You go back and watch it and I'm like, no, this can't be right. There's no way this gets all the way into the water and it does. And it just like it was it was a tough, tough Thursday set up without being ridiculous without like a ton of wind. I was just a very, very, very difficult setup where I think there's certain like I was seeing some people kind of complaining of like, no, like I tuned into the master's to see better. You know, the masters to see birdies and eagles and everything. Like, hey, there were plenty of eagles out there today and be like, I think it's it's truly like it's like wine. Like you got to celebrate each vintage for what it is, right? And we get so many years that are that are softer and wetter. And I think like, let's just lean into this because it's only going to get like, I think they're going to have to water the golf course tonight to slow it down a little bit for tomorrow. And then I think once one Saturday hits, I hope it just keeps keeps going on this on this trajectory because like this is truly like a once in a lifetime type forecast that we have. Like it's going to be going to inch up into the low to mid 80s. The next few days looked a little bit chillier out there today, Sally. And like, it just looks like this is this is the most ideal conditions we've ever seen from masters. I think Max had one of my favorite quotes I've seen in a masters press conference today. He was he was asked about kind of that dividing line between, you know, a good shot and a great shot and what this course does and yada, yada, yada. And he basically, I hope I'm not paraphrasing this too bad, but he basically said every year the winner, there's always an iconic shot associated with the winner at this golf course. And the messed up part is that somebody else that day also tried that shot and it blew up in their face. And the point is crowning the person who pulls it off. And that's what I was like, dude, that's so well said. It's exactly how I feel about this tournament is and not to, I don't know, not to duct tape to seemingly unrelated points together, but I think it's very interesting in relation to Ridley's comments about the rollback to, right? Is that you can't, I don't think listen to anything he said in there and not be like, yo, this is the kind of golf that I, I and the club is trying to promote here. Right. Like I don't think I don't take anything away from those comments and be like, ah, we actually are trying to set it up for TV ratings and birdies and to, to, you know, really appease the casual fan, which then actually kind of brings in a whole other conversation about where the master is going. But yeah, maybe we could talk about that later. Anyways, what are we talking about? What day is this? Shot value, baby. So on Thursday, like there were, there were what nine or 10 guys that shot 80 or above 10 and I like the fact that Randy's just shot. Just just kicking up dirt. The stable right now. And I think that, that there's, there's still ebbs and flows that are going to be had. It's just the line just moves a little bit closer to par or birdie being good score. And like, like, I, like, I think three was a great example today. Oh, there were guys that were, that were, I mean, Tommy was 20 feet short of the green. And the best he could do with a chip was to put it to like 25 feet. And then just put right down that ski slope. Yeah. And like, and then, and then if that pot doesn't go in, he's probably off the green and he's struggling to make, make bogey from Ram. Ram three putted from that same spot. That was one of his many, many, many, many, many three putts today. Yeah. Three, three was so awesome. It's just a lorry three putted two from like three feet. No, that was four. The pin on four was kick ass as well in that back, right? With just like a little bit of, just a little bit of shelf behind it. So like, if you do want to go right at it, maybe you'll get a little bit of help, but God, if you go over the green there, you were going to get eviscerated. So many guys in that front bunker trying to go there. The guys who are playing safe have like a 50 footer, like straight up that, that slope. There's, there were so many three and four. I think nine, nine was like, like I was furious when Ludwig went long of nine. Like, okay, like your, your bone back there, 10 looked so hard today. Six was so hard on that back shelf, but they've redone that green. I forget what year they did that where it no longer kind of funnels back there. It is like, we watched some like Ludwig birdie six and that's he got birdie that to go to three under like hit it in a spot. We I watched a ton of groups come through six. So nobody else hit it anywhere near the spot. Ludwig did because if you hit it five feet short of where he did it rolled all the way back to the front left. And if you got greedy, like Scott, he had an awesome shot to the back shelf that it felt like should have held and it didn't like it skipped over the green into a totally fine spot to get up and down from. And then like you watch JT on that shot, he kind of fan one a little bit right and it came up short catches the front of that mountain and it rolls all the way back down the hill. And he's got to hit a shot that you just don't. I feel like you don't see as much in week to week golf of like the 54 degree pitch shot that has to have some spin but skip through the first mounting that you get that you're going to encounter because of how steep and severe the mounds are there and you can't fly stuff to the upper shelf and just like dude, it's a complete examination of golf. And I, I'm surprised to hear that, you know, that kind of I want to see more birdies out of it because at one point today, I'm like, dude, it is out there for the get and reads five under on the front like birdies, needles were flying when the when the afternoon wave teed off like Scotty Eagles to and the Ludwig got out to the hot start. It just felt like it was possible. It was very possible. If you get the shots, it was possible out there. It was, it was, I don't know, man, I don't know how you could set up a Thursday much better. Honestly, don't like you can't lose the course then but it was, it was, it wasn't on the edge either. It was just like, dude, play some good golf. You're going to be rewarded and when you mess up, we'll be waiting for you. It seems volatile. Like, yes, that's the way of it's there's more downside risk. I mean, like watching a aldrich pock eater, like I watched every shot of his around on the app. It was spectacular. It's like, it is, it is a BSI, you know, Identifier. Yeah. Exposer out there today where like you get like you get those those firm conditions. There's no friction and it's yeah, it's great. And it just puts so much stress on your chipping. If you're not playing well or your bunker play as we saw from Bryson on 11. It was, it was a very good day. It was a very good day. Where should we go next guys? Do we TC do all the expeath? Oh, you're, you're words, not mine. Yeah. T-San would love to talk speed. I'm still blushing from that par save on immense, fucking immense part. God, that was awesome, man. That was awesome. He drives it left under the Magnolia tree. Kind of a half little flinch to get it back out of the ferry. It gets it up and down for probably what 160 170. I mean, it was just awesome stuff. Listen, I know a lot of people will have only seen a couple of the blowups, the 15, the thing on 15, the thing on 18 speed played really good golf today. I watched all of it. I was locked into every shot. He, he played super duper solid. Did exactly what he needed to do on the front nine birdies, two birdies, eight, seven, you know, he like both seven and 14 where he made bogies. He's just a hair off the fairway. Like it was, he leaked him a little bit right, kind of got blocked out in a weird way and you know, just ended up making bogies, which nobody's going bogie free out there on that stuff. The one of 15 is bad. So drive it. That's bad. But even he said after the round two, he's like, man, if you give me a dozen, a dozen balls from there, like I'm probably making bogie on one. I'm probably making par on one and I'm probably making birdie on the other 10. Like that was just a weird kind of fluky thing. And then to save par on 18 was like, those are the ones that have turned into doubles and triples and like memes in the past. And so I'm just, I'm, I'm buzzing. I thought 72 is, would have loved to be under par, but I will, I will take it considering how those last kind of four or five holes were. Love seeing the birdie on nine, like great wedge in there off of, you know, downhill lie, just proper distance control. Yeah. Like you said, I know he's only even. And we're in you guys, you know, we're going to glaze speech. And then we're going to, we're going to, we're going to roast Ludwig for shooting 74. But, but no, I think speed, it felt more like a minus two round. It was good, good round of golf. Yeah. Dolly, what's the, is the, oh, you're going to push back based on the numbers. I have it very good. Did you watch it? Are you going off the, the red and green boxes? I'm looking at the red and green boxes and I saw a fair amount of it as well. It just go, go watch them all. He drove it solid. He drove it solid. He had a little bit of a leak to the right on a couple of holes, but it was better than better than the numbers are going to say. Just, yeah, I've watched him on 14. That was tough. Kind of made it made a mess of that one made bogey over there driving in the right trees. Just a fair way behind a tree. Just now saw the putt on 15, which that was that we don't, we don't, we don't want that it Jordan in the modern day golf just does see it. It feels very different watching him, not just in his own ability, but the way the game has evolved in the last 10 years and how he the skills of their reward a little bit different. And we've seen Rory go like Rory was like around speeds, speed 10 years ago. Speeds current speed and Rory just went like nuclear with speed and a lot of guys have gone nuclear with speed and now he alert the trackers like Jordan is fighting with half of a half of a hand behind his back. Like it just feels like it's been broken for years. But it just, I don't know, man, I just don't, I want, I don't see the magic. There was so much magic, even in normal rounds that he played, even in my rational magic. Yes, it just always like something happened. And it was just, you happen to watch on 18. Do you happen to see a shot on 10? Great par. I saw that the shot on 10 was the best shot I saw. It was amazing. But in 2015 or 16, he makes that putt, you know, like that was the magic. And it just feels like I test the Jason to me, but yes, I did. This is I test. This is 100% I test. It feels like T 17 is, is, you know, it's a long tournament. It's a very long tournament. Maybe we do see some magic here over the next couple of days ahead of Sunday. Listen, did I put my, my head on the chopping block in that Instagram post of out of 91 players? Who are you picking to win? Jordan Spieth? Yes. Like, did I was I a little after as soon as that came out of my mouth, like, Oh, fuck man, he could definitely shoot 78 tomorrow. So from that perspective, I thought today was a massive dub. We're still in the tournament. And the thing where I will agree, I will agree with what you're saying is like, not picking him to win the PGA, not picking him to win the US open. Like, I'm not picking him to win the Wells Fargo. The who the, what is it? What is it? Yeah, I'm not, I'm not, I'm picking him to win at Augusta National very specifically and shots like a lot of what we saw today are, are why, but And I feel like the tougher way to go, like the more the more the firmer and faster and bouncier it gets, the more I feel like that should reward his skill set and some of the shit that he does well. Right. If he can keep it, if he can keep it in the fairway, if he can keep it in play and allow his, his iron play to like put him in the right spots and not put him in the, in the death spots that are hanging out. I don't, I do not know how to say this and this won't make sense as I get it out of my mouth, but I feel like the, the spieth Augusta makes sense when the greens are a little bit more neutered than they currently are. Like when you see the green, a little bit more green grass on those greens, I feel like he puts them extremely well when they get glassy, when it gets like touchy putts like we saw on, on 15, I feel like it neuters a little bit of his advantage of being able to make mid range putts like the mid range putts become More defensive, the more glassy it gets out there and if you go back and watch 15 and 16, the dude poured them in from that range and the greens just look different and the speed that they're hit is different. And that's that, that is the run in 2018. That's the run he can go on to make it super exciting. And I don't know if that's the golf course we're going to get over the next several days. It does make sense. I do get what you're saying. He's going to get an inordinate amount of his advantage from making those mid range putts. And as soon as everybody stops like making those, then yeah, I get what you're saying. It's just like basketball, you know, the mid range game just isn't, isn't. Disappearing. So like what's like a question for you on the agronomy, like is it with the temp spying as warm as they have been over the last, say four weeks. Are you seeing more Bermuda poking through, especially like around the collars because that's what it looks like that on TV a little bit of it just looks like the collars are kind of not fuzzy but just a little bit in between the rye and the Bermuda and they're kind of You know, just just a little stickier. I haven't seen it as much around the greens. We don't get that close to a lot of spots. You definitely see it like if you look left of 12 T like on the mound there, it's like, well, that's a huge patch of Bermuda that has come in there. Like it looks you can see it on the TV shot very easily. Yeah, definitely in the gallery and a lot of spots. It gets a little bit more worn down of like the rise definitely killed off in some spots. I mean, it's going to get up in the mid 80s this weekend like that. I just want to keep an eye on I'll make a mental note to look out for more examples of that. I definitely feel like I saw more guys putting from around the greens this year than we're used to seeing. I feel like it is usually a pretty quick like reach for wedge and like Scotty when he went long of six today, he pulled putter out P long of two today and hold it with putter from long of that green. That's usually, you know, we're seeing some of this good of a short game is him chipping that one. So I'll keep a little closer on that tomorrow, but definitely something to monitor. Yeah, because I think like as that as that grass starts poking through more, it's going to make it more and more difficult to chip like you're seeing it a lot on those banks on 14 and 17, like you just see three or four feet off the, you know, off the green, especially when when it's angled towards like the afternoon sun. I also felt like the color grading was just weird today on on Amazon, especially, but even on the SPN broadcast, it just felt like more grayed out or more was almost like they had ND filters on it or something or not had any filters on it. I kind of think that it's almost like it's probably two things. One, like there's more coverage in the middle of the afternoon, which we don't usually see. Yeah. And two, I mean, I think that's got to be part of like the greens too. Right. It's like the firmness of the greens. They're just going to be shinier and yeah, but even the trees and like when you see the drone shots and everything, it just looks more. No flat. Yeah, just just more. Yeah, just just a deader color. Hey, speaking of dead, why don't we talk about Bryson and ROM? Should we? I don't know how to, you know, apologies to all the haters and losers, but I don't know how to do anything other than to group these two together in a little bit of this. We can, we can obviously tackle them individually, but Bryson 76, ROM 78, two of the absolute two of the top five certainly tournament favorites looking wildly uncompetitive today. Bryson, a Delta collab there on the second hole, just an absolute sniper into the left side made a mess there. But other than that, played pretty solid golf. Like other than almost killing somebody at six, played pretty solid golf on the front and then took three shots to get out of the green side bunker on 11. I, yeah, so I think you were, you were there for some of this. Why don't you, why don't you take it away from there? Do you want, do you want me to speak or do I believe reporting from, from the ground? Is that what you were referring to? Yeah, actually, you're right. We did. We did. That's, I apologize to you, but we got to go right to the source on this one. Okay. Reporting to you live from Amen corner here to gusty national where we saw not one, not two, but three explosions in the desert from Bryson on his way to a disastrous triple bogey seventh on the 11th hole. This distraction makes you wonder what is in those files. You look like Hollywood hoteling in there. Sorry, Benny. This one will make sense here in a few weeks when you see the gasparilla video. Cheers. Just all kinds of drive by there. It truly looked like he was, he just forgot how to hit a bunker shot. It's so funny. So far back on 11 that, and it was so bright out to your point on like the kind of weird colors of it. Like he hits the shot and none of us in the gallery realized it doesn't get out. Like you see the sand explosion and you're waiting for the ball to show up. So it was like a delayed reaction every time he did it of like, of the groan and then it just, the murmuring just kept going. He did it again. He left it in again. And it was weird how Bryson has this kind of great momentum going, but as soon as it started going wrong for Bryson, even the Augusta crowd was kind of start to turn on him a little bit. And there was like a murmur and excitement around the fact that he couldn't get out of the bunker on his way to, on his way to seven. But he held it together really well in his quick quotes afterwards as well. So, a little, little spicy man. He's asking, he's kind of starting to see this content game cut both ways. Oh, you want a 3D print your iron school? We're going to ask you about that after you're 76. Do you think you could print a new set by this weekend? What the fuck are we talking about, man? This is an artist rendering here that Cody's throwing on screen. Yeah, I don't even look at it. Genuinely peeve that you had to get the USG to like approve your equipment. I think he was generally peeved at the question, which was a dumb question. And he was made to manufacturing as well. It's true. Just kept, kept hooking the ball. It, okay. As we watch another just absolute clunker with the irons here and granted, I know everything I said on the way in. I know that I drafted him in our, in our fantasy draft, which we might have, we might not have time to get to those results today. We'll see. I got him if you want. We might not have time to get to him. I was texting a buddy today and it's just, it's funny to think about like other sports and, you know, TC, you guys talk about this on the great ball knowers podcast, how quickly schemes turn over in the NFL. Everybody's looking at like, if anyone gets a competitive advantage, how do I steal that? How do I integrate that? How do I do this? It's like, man, we're like 10 years into this and nobody else has used a single link. That's, that's crazy to me. And I'm not saying I'm smarter. I'm not saying I'm anything, but I'm like, man, there's a lot of smart people that seems like they would have, it would have implemented this if it was, if it was the way to go, but it's just, it's just wild. Every time it's rinse and repeat, man. We've seen this a bunch of times. I don't know if it's the course that's in his head, the uneven lies that I don't know. I don't know what the hell is going on, but it is very, very weird with Bryson. I think you can make the case quite easily that he's been extremely successful in his career this new age with the single link link the irons and on a lot of golf courses and a lot of different styles of play. Totally. But not here. Not here. That was, and I know he's got a good couple finishes the last couple years, but it's been good driving, which is almost always going to happen for him and really good putting is excellent potter excellent green reader. But he's not great around the greens with the single link fires and he's not great off uneven lies and the difficult shots that Augusta National has required, even in his good finishes, it's not been good in those categories. So there's just no wiggle room in any other parts of his game. And when that goes, Hey, why are we has one explosion there on 11? Like he's kind of toast, man. It's it's night night and three explosions. Yeah, three, three, three explosions there. It, yeah, I, it was a lot of Bryson momentum going into this one. And I just, I don't know. I, I, I, I don't want to celebrate. It's more interesting when Bryson's around like it's not, but it's also quite fun when he is peeved and being short with people after a round and we can all see the, it's just all of us odd, which we. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, like, like we said, it's been two really, really, really good years here, albeit not great with the irons, but maybe he'll bounce back and play, play his way back into some sort of contention. If the golf course gets hard, who knows, you can move up with a good round. But yeah, just a weird one and a bit of a shame on me for not, I don't know, for buying all the hype. I'll, I'll, I'll, TCI apologize. I think that I think it'll be really interesting tomorrow. So like once we get through tomorrow to see like the wave split between the two, like if it evens out or if, or if the. It was morning afternoon today. It was pretty even. Two tenths of a shot difference today from, from what I saw. That said, it also seems like, I was talking to Randy about this earlier. It seems like there's like, we were talking about how many, not like relatively bad players there are in this field between some of the past chance. Some loose ball strike and go out amateurs and some of the national open winners can be a little imicky. But I think that's additive and a feature, not a bug because it's truly like, it truly gives you a sense of like, Holy shit, this like, it's really hard to pull these shots off, even in an easier year versus. And they're all like colorful characters that you kind of get to know year after year after year versus random anonymous club pro in the PGA championship. Yeah, that's what I totally agree. And then you get a hose in real with Abel who's like, I mean, one of the rounds of the day today. I think you should have gotten analyzed on two for knocking a couple of leaves off that tree. But just like, I really see a short game work we've ever seen. He did. He did perish on the 15th hole during the 1415 16 stream. Unfortunately, he went bogey, bogey double bogey on those three holes. But yeah, he had it to two under for through 13, which is kind of unheard of for the great man. Jose Luga was sweating that one. The blue was sweating that one. He had called him out. He was right. Now I have the pocketer, the pocketer thing. We're going to, we'll get to the beluga momentarily. But TCO, we got to talk ROM before we, before we get there. Cause this is one of the bigger, man, this is one of the bigger eggs. I feel like I can remember. I mean, this is up there with some of the stuff Rory did and, you know, the silly stuff Roy's done in round one. And oh my God, all the hypes on roar. And he just completely shoots his way out of it. I mean, yeah, ROM, ROM shot 78 today. ROM's supposed to be the dude. ROM's supposed to be with no birdies. And it was, it was just really a weird round of golf. I mean, he bogey'd one from the middle of the fairway. He had a clean midiron into two. Didn't make birdie. Boat three putted three, three putted six, I think three putted nine, 13. He hit like a horrible snipe into the azaleas barely like got through the trees. I think got lucky that his tee shot didn't get hung up and then just flipped one into the azaleas made double on 13. Yeah, just a, just a really big clunker from one of the absolute favorites. I mean, it was, this sucks, man. Like this is one, the Bryson stuff, you know, that's, there's a lot of, there's a lot to the Bryson circus. And I think when he plays bad, there's a little bit of like, oh, that's interesting. When Ron plays bad, I'm like, wow, that sucks. Like it would be really fun if it was Scotty and Rory and ROM, you know, is like, feels like a waste. Feels like a waste. Feels like a huge waste. Yeah. The whole lifting is a massive waste of his talent. Like again, at least Bryson went over there and reinvented himself and is like, like legitimately seems like he's found happiness over there and curated, you know, less media, less of an intrusive media environment has been great for him and freedom to do the YouTube stuff has been great for him. Like there's a happy story in some way on the Bryson front. And the rom thing is just like, dude, even when he wins over there, everybody's kind of like, okay, you're supposed to that just don't get on the eight foot hoop. But like, dude, you're a two time major winner. Like you're still young. You still in the prime of your career. Like, hey, don't, hey, like a easy narrative. If you go to live is like, I don't know if this is going to prepare you that well to play in the majors and two years of tough results have felt like it fit into that narrative really, really well. And then to come out and sky, at some point I expect that I still do expect that trend to reverse like Ron has not lost his talent. He is, I still think an extremely, extremely good player. I do not think he's done winning majors. But the, and I think at some point he will be back probably on the PGA tour playing golf competitively in a more competitive environment on a week to week basis. But it is just such a bummer to like watch this talent go to waste on a tour that is not nearly as competitive as a PGA tour and throw up stinkers in majors. Like it's, it's, he's just kind of like increasingly irrelevant in the golf world, despite being one of at minimum the five best golfers in the world, like probably best three golfers in the world. And just being completely irrelevant for like 99% of it annually is just a massive bummer. Is he a dude? Is he still a dude? I think. So my thing with the dude is once it, once I once, once I put you in as a dude, I can't touch it for a year. Like it's a year long commitment. Right. When did you do this? I just feel like, I mean, when, what's the role? Like you tried to explain it away the last few times we talked about it. And it's like, no man, like this is a trend. And like, I don't care what the data golf stuff says. Like he's, he's no showing here. And he's only won three times in three years on live. That's crazy. Which is crazy to me. Like, and I get that like winning can be tricky or volatile at times or luck based, but at some point, like winning is winning. And you guys have held Tommy to that standard. And, you know, we've talked about it with Ludwig and all that, but like, like it can't go both ways then. Right. Like winning is winning. And he hasn't, he hasn't done a whole lot of it. I don't, I don't think anyone's explaining away the major record. I think it's just like, again, I will say this again, he's going to throw up a stinker this week. I think it's still like, I don't think he's going to go another year without a top 10 in a major. I think he will have a top 10 in a major this year. Right. I don't think he's like toast in majors going forward. But it is, this has gone on long enough that it deserves attention should get attention. I ran into Brandel and Rich Lerner in the media center. They were on their way to go do live from him. I kind of want to wrap this show up because I think Brandel's going to let the live voice here tonight from what I gathered there. Like it's a story. It's definitely a story. Like again, it can be convenient to be like, Hey, is this the best masters preparation for you guys to be jaunting all over Asia and then going to South Africa and then taking a bunch of time off leading up to it? Or is it better to have been stateside and played the week before? Like, you know, some of the, the past masters when they were, I think they were what in Florida several years ago, maybe in their first full year right before the masters. And a bunch of guys had a success in that one. Like there's a complete vacation of the guys on the leaderboard. They released the zip, you know, playing competitive golf in the same area code. And you've made it easy to kind of poke a hole in this one. Unfortunately. And again, it's not fun. Like I, I, I, the, for me, as I've said over the years, like the PJ Torverse live thing, I, I just put that on pause during the major weeks. Like I still appreciate the talent of a lot of these guys and want them to be competitive. It just becomes a sad and uninteresting story. If they're not going to be competitive and majors, like what's happened with K. Smith is a sad, is a bad story. Like for golf, it's not been fun. Dustin Johnson has been completely irrelevant since he left. Not good. We can't afford to have Ron go that way. Like golf doesn't have enough dudes to survive that. So listen, the dude commitment, I got to ride this out. Like every time you fucks up, you guys got to let me hear it and you will, I'm sure over the court. I'll believe you will. I, I, but that's a commitment. Like I still like, it was a big deal to put that kind of honor on somebody to say like you are one of the dudes of this era. And I still truly believe that. But it's going to take a year of bad golf for me to take somebody out of it because I, again, I'm a massive believer in his talent. And it's just, this is hard to watch. And it's all like, he had two top 10s and majors last year. They just weren't really competitive. Yeah. It's one of those things. Like I don't know. I just think that like there's stuff that goes beyond the data. Right. There's, there's just like with Rory at the Masters. Like you say the data, the data is just the scores though, right? Like, I know, but the scores. Yeah. But the scores like tournament to tournament or within the context of a tournament. Tell a story. And then when, when they just get washed into one giant sample size, it's like, oh, here's his trend over the last year or two. Like I think that that nullifies or mitigates some, some subjective stuff in there. But it's not just a year or two. It's, it's like his entire career. He's just been a, the buoy, he's been a steady, extremely, really extremely good performer and beating a lot of the dudes he teased it up with on a, on a weekly basis. Like it, even if that doesn't mean wins directly. And again, it's really hard to judge the success on live, but like he's still, you know, the odds makers still respect him as one of the top players in the field. And I'll still, I don't know. I don't think this is like going to complete. Like, does this eliminate him in your guys mind of the possibility that he wins the PGA at Aronamac here in a couple of weeks? Like, it doesn't for me. Like, I think it could very easily still happen. He could snap out of this at any moment. Yeah, I think he's, Liz, I don't think he's washed. But I just, yeah, there's something going on there beyond the data and beyond the golf. Speaking of, of washed, I washed this thing down the this, this is the HMB Sullivan. Good stuff. I think this is Heathered Harbor. We've got the spring color palette Holderness and Born and Benny Booms was out there in it this week, Mason Howell wearing it as well. Just some of the best pop colors. They've got those, those button down shirts that swing it collection as well kind of where those off the course. I've been deep into the short and pants game. They're lately they've got a new, the hardwood short in Ivy is has been my go to here of late. Just an awesome green color. They've got another cascade green color as well. Like it's, it's that time of the year where you're, you want to re up your pants, your shorts kind of freshen up the closet a little bit. See what else we got. We've got the Saunders short as well. That's that's their, their foray into kind of the athleisure. Yeah, really comfy. That's kind of my driving for a road trip these days. And then, you know, all the, all the polos, all the the I personally love the solids, the McDonald polo and the solid I like the, the, the, the pique knit, but you've got all the, all the print polos, all the stripe polos these days. They've got the, the aeration technology, micro perforations, macro comfort, you know, Randy's big fan of that. So listen, the line keeps getting wider and wider for them, but I think it stays true to what they're good at, which is like classic timeless style and design. So they've got the US open collection live online as well and NLU 10 or 10% off at HB golf.com that along with our, that's pretty much the only one on the market from a promo code perspective. So go stock up the spring stuff is killer this year. Love the palette. Shout out to Holderness and born our good friends there. T.C. We were talking about dudes before that, before that ad read. Why don't we bring in one of our, one of our favorite artists. Why don't we bring in one of our dudes, Neil was out on the course all day today. Icarito. How we doing my man? Oh, Toros. How are you? Great. God, fantastic beard. God just heard TCS driving shorts. What did I miss gentlemen? Sheesh. We were just talking about the boot. You got any blasting thoughts on John Rom before we get to your day? Well, just grumpy, you know, walking off 15 green did not, not a happy camper. Okay. Doesn't, doesn't seem like showing a lot of gratitude out there today. It's hard to describe how bad the shot was on 13, the second shot, eight iron and up into these alias from a flat lie. I have no idea. Is he going to kill somebody tomorrow? Like is he at risk of, of lashing out? I don't know. I saw it. I saw I ran in the car from the enterprise down in like downtown at Gus. So there was a rage room next door. You know, we can just go break stuff. I might have to pass along the info to Ram and Bobby Mack. I was going to say, go get it out of him, man. Like they both seem very angry. And in my, was I was catching up here before hopping on. For sure. What'd you do today, Neil? What'd you get into? Oh man. You know, the fish weren't really biting a day for me, Deej. Sometimes you get out there. I feel like everyone else was just, just like I miss, I'm like, I just, I just got a play. I got played. I had a great day. Don't get me wrong. I started the day, went out. I wanted to watch Rory and Mason Howell and it was just really scrappy. The boys were all over the yard. I got to let Randy know that Mason Howell was doing the jitter bug out there. First Masters jitters were tough. He squirreling off the first, lost off the first. Yeah, right off the second. He and Rory were in the trees at a move, a TV truck to, so those guys could punch out. And so I followed those guys, you know, kind of often. Then I posted up above three green and it's 40. Just because I was reading your notes or today, did you leave on seven? Yes. I watched him hit his drive on eight. And I was like, okay. That is fucking right there. I'm going to go get some lunch, man. This is just kind of boring. But the pin on three and they moved the tee up on four. Have you guys talked about that? We have. Oh, it was like 170. Okay, I was wondering that. I love like, I thought guys were going to, I was like, it made it such a better whole. It was my favorite thing of the day. Like, because you can stand up there. That's one of the best places to watch golf. You're above three green and you can watch them hit that gnarly trip from below the score, right under the scoreboard, watch Rory chip up and then bad three putt there. And then you have this awesome elevated view of all the action on four. Normally that tee is right next to you. And so you kind of like, you know, looking around people, you can't really get the it's one of the few spots where you can see two holes of action out there, you know, in a big way. And I'm, I just feel like, man, I'd love to see you move that tee up more, but they put that pin up top right. Nobody was getting it close. I probably saw eight shots in there. And guys were struggling. So highlight of the day. It's kind of dark, but I, guys, I, it was just a ghastly sight. I saw a simultaneous four putt Mason how four putts the fourth green and five seconds later Victor Hauvin four putts the third green. It's like a scene of triple play. I was like, Oh my God, did anybody else see that? Like, I might be the only one that saw that. Like this is historic shit, people. It was epic. And, you know, the fourth green is pretty far away, but it was, it was a, it was just a tough stretch of golf there. So both those pins were difficult. So I think what happened by the way, had a worse putting day of anybody in the field today. May have, may have been where he stacked up some of those. It was tough. You know, and kind of, you know, we're used to this with Hauvin, but tough shirt, walking to the 40, I, you know, he just didn't, he didn't look super happy. There were a few tough shirts out there. Bob, Bob Bridgeman Bridgeman Bridgeman's whole aesthetic today was maybe the worst I've ever seen. Yeah. TCS all you call that out. It was as bad in person as it was on TV. Blow buys and Kenny Wayne Shepherd combo. I mean, that's a collab. No one was looking for. I am getting word deeds. Mattel Puccini had the worst putting in the field. The whole fourth horse in the field. Maybe I took that a little too early. I got to see Puccini up close and personal. What a ha, that man is a big bull. It's sizeable lad there. So the first you never want to birdie the first. I kind of, I was trying to pace myself. It's going to be a long week. So I'm going to my spots, you know, above three and things are hard. Honey holes. Yeah. Honey holes for me. Usually, usually we're the Fisher biting in these places, right? But we're seeing some gnarly things, right? So then I go over and I sit on 16 in the bleachers next to the tee. I move over. I got a great, great vantage point. And it's just really hard golf. I mean, it was, it's both awesome to see. I think I saw seven or eight chips from behind 15. And it might be the only test. Yeah. Like that maybe should be the playoff in the future. Just take them to the back of 15 green. Nobody. I don't think anybody I saw got it up and down. He got it on the green, but it looks like he hit the best shot of the day. It was incredible. He did not get it up and down, but he was hit a drop by the water and hit an unbelievable shot. I mean, all these guys are pretty much laying up right right on the fringe there. Hatton's freaking out because he didn't get it up there. Michael Kim, Rasmus Hoyard hit a pretty good one there. And then Pulsini got got bodied pretty bad. But the pin on 15 and then they put it up Sunday pin from last year on 16. And it was up towards the front. The back pin was Sunday last year. It was closer to the front this year on. But that's right. Shelf was tough. Nobody was getting at that. And so there was a tough two pot from from down the hill to the left. And so I'm enjoying this, but it does it does damper the patrons. You know, there's just not not a lot of, you know, we get a little action in here. You know, like it feels beautiful day, not a lot of action. So TC, I want to shout out the great man. Best shot I saw was Rose's approach into 15. Just professional shit. Really, really professional stuff. Just a classy two putt and Deej on the flip side, just disgraceful stuff from speed on 50 awful. I mean, like I'm so amped to see. Oh my God, Spice. You guys need to be. Which is a good spot. And he just hits an like just such an average. It was so horrible. Like mediocre, all of it was just mediocre up and out of the putt, the second putt, even before, basically, before he hit, hit the ball, it was, it was bad. It was bad. I did like him playing into that bunker. It seemed like he was maybe between clubs. Yeah, come in. And I thought that was a good play. I was like, there's no way we're not getting this up and down. And I got robbed of a good rake job by Griller, cause a kept, cause guy raked it, you know, so it's just kind of bad all around for me. You know, I'm waiting all day to see something like that. This is what happens at Augusta sometimes you get behind the eight ball you start pressing and you just you just get Suffocated and great anything about it fun a fun day regardless, but that's what makes the good days count each You know you can't fish or biting all the time. It's still a good day on the boat, right? It's still a good day on the boat, you know, I was out, you know It was it was still a very nice day out there, but I just felt like man. I am off schedule here I'm I am not aligned with the action what what I've been Often in person when you when you do get off you can't catch back up Like if you you could get on a good group and follow and be like, oh my god I was a three didn't flee but this morning was great in the afternoon I couldn't couldn't eat you there's not enough like time to To catch back or like to stay with somebody and see something long enough as soon as you leave you get the Rory So then I'm just beating myself up. I haven't seen Bryson's name on leaderboard. I'm like, oh big golf by stinks You know, I basically like every time you bet on the under you feel this way like why do I do that? Yeah, there was some some I did want to ask you about that I'm just getting a report here that we do have another on the ground reporting Moment from this the beluga of course picked Bryson with the number one spot in the big board I think scoops may have had some stuff on the board as well The press center here to customer national continues to evolve and grow every single year And a rivalry has emerged between the scoops Solomon one spiel Schuster I can't report from the ground though that a spiel Schuster was seen flabbergasted Mustard up in arms over the start of one Jose Maria Oh the bubble I believe second to laugh on something called the balloon is big boy Two on the park here on the front line and is it the buzz of the ground how far off the beluga's big board is so far Keep an eye on the situation. We'll report back on later Yeah, you know what ultimately vindicated. He did he did wreck his way back to earth. I would yeah I actually got sidetracked. I was gonna spiel the real deal was gonna come come through or something But wouldn't say you got vindicated he beat Bryson no kid Yama's harpooning the beluga right now It's just you just painting the board red with the beluga's blood, you know tough tough Jason days making me look But I do want guys come on. You got to give me a shout on potgeeter. You you took Apology full-thrown apology that was I was I was like Neil. What are you doing this guys? We had better for you. You're smart. I'm dumb great stuff And I was the was the the formatting like a bit yesterday. I caught a little bit of it and just there was bold There was different. Yes, so I sizes and then John Rom. He's felt his name wrong It's a lot of copy and you see you're working off of PDFs, you know And so I'm trying to get into my into my model, you know, so data cleansing is a problem for the beluga And so yeah, you know, I I would say I was trying to get the Trying to get the list done so I wasn't really worried about typos and Formatting I gotta be honest. I know Cody was gonna just you know copy and paste him over into the graphics But I'm glad he did because that's good stuff But yeah, you know, that's not that's not really part of the models typos are that's you know par for the course over here You know what? We're gonna we're gonna do this later, but I actually want to bring him in now Randy Can we bring you in here because I know you had kind of one singular question for the beluga Just just all day that was on your mind My god, this is horrible. What is it? First time jitters. Oh, thank you. Sorry. I was I was so caught up in the show Neil Who suffered the worst first time masters jitters because that was all over beluga's big board I have to know who was the worst of it. Well, I mean, I I'd say, you know first-hand Impression would be Mason how but I was proud of him for birdie in 15 and 16 and you know getting in that plus force Respectful still in the hunt for the low am but as I said earlier, who's doing the jitterbug Randy? You know kind of forgot the steps stumbling all over the dance floor Not not great stuff for the 18 year old the Thomasville. You know You know our guy the basketball player holts seems like he had some jitters going sure I mean just check the leaderboard man I would say I was pretty impressed with Novak. He hit some good shots into 15 and 16 So it could have been wrong about the jitters with him I'm not sure where he finished but he kind of passed my eye test three So, yeah, I mean just hard. Yeah hard proper test out there, mr. Big, which I know I know you love Yes, I Fantastic day from where I said might not have been as much energy on the ground Neil and solid but I found it a great watch today Yeah, get give me a little more big. What'd you like? What was your what were your big big takeaways here? well We got a hell of a leaderboard developing. I think that's I think that's number one We had talked about speed If speed were to redeem himself 10 years after the debacle that was kind of our fairy tale number one storyline. I Don't know if we we should have been over on this one, but Guys we might have Rory and Scotty sunday at augusta under some of the best course conditions Possible That's in play after one day and I think that's Obviously Rory Individually is a big story, but with Scotty shooting a 70 looking very clean doing it. I I am just We have not had a true showdown between those two gentlemen And I think if we get one this weekend at augusta under these conditions, uh, that'll be so lucky You could just a plug and play team rose in there for me too I mean sign me up for a rematch there like that that's that's in play as well randy and I I love it and Listen, you know, I know we sold the block party. Maybe I don't know. Was there a non compete? Can we can we do a like a a potlucked eege because I well, I just mean I'm thrilled to see rory Back in the mix. I mean, I was maybe I was the cooler. I'm glad I left them and he just started balling out I didn't get to see any of it. So I'm excited to To experience it the rest of the week I I this is a one-man focus group of one here, you know one man's opinion the uh, you know The block party had a had a very specific intent in a very specific mission, which was let's get this guy back To the top of our shoulders the sequels never is good, you know You got to you got to know when to like listen Do I what the only thing that's better than one rory masters win is two rory's masters wins, right? In my eyes, it would be great rooting for him to get another one, but it's not it's not the same thing You know, I think we need to we need to reinvent we needed to kind of circle the wagon see what what's going on I'm feeling a lot of this beef energy. I got to say I thought I was going to get a lot more You're a fucking idiot and instead it was it was a lot of People are excited, you know that that's the thing that's going to speed swaray Sage burn for speed. Yeah, but the rory thing was not that was not just a master's thing That was a let's get off the map the major schnide like we were doing this for every major like come on. Let's go So I go ahead ready who's going to start it for jordan Oh I mean who's going to follow is kind of what i'm trying to trying to get at Kind of a jerry maguire situation staying with my golfing in my hands here who's coming with me So it's just amazing. I reminded myself today that dustin johnson phil michelson tiger woods have all won majors more recently than jordan speed I I think if if anybody needs this collective magic like we Deedge we got to throw it. I don't know if yeah, are you going with a Schindig what what are we going to literative like i'm yeah, i'm ready to quit the job walk out of the office and join you Who's coming with me dorthy hamill. Thank you. No less clients less money. That's right. That's right tc signed with bob sugar. We know that Uh, reyna should we do some uh, you want to do some thrills and delights? Yeah, I got a few some of you guys have obviously touched on but they're still thrilling to me I sent these over to kody earlier Listen, sol you said you can't celebrate d shambo playing poorly. I sure as shit can and uh, I thought it was fabulous I I think I it kind of struck me late in Yesterday's show like wait, where is all this brice and stuff coming from because I think it crystallized that I still believe One of the core things I believe in this world is you need some artistry To win at augustin national and I believe that bryce and possesses zero of that Uh, I think his humongous wedges will always be A limiting factor here and so to see him not only leave the ball in the bunker on 11 You know, he hit a horrible little wedge long at 15 after a layup like this guy just done It it doesn't work here his whole deal. It doesn't work and zero grace I'm with you and that you know, he's a content machine. It's fun when he's around but like hand in hand with that part and parcel is When he has stuff like this, I'm gonna love the shit out of it So bryce and you were an absolute thrill and delight today big fella. Thank you very much. God. That's good stuff big That's a that's a fastball blowing it by Whoa everybody it just caught looking at that one. I feel stupid for picking him randy That makes me feel even stupider. I appreciate that Hold me accountable big stupid. I hold myself in contempt It feels you gotta be careful with iDj on that wall uh the uh What was I gonna say the You feel stupid and you feel uncool. I think is how I feel right now Where I was because as soon as you said that yesterday or what was that yesterday? Uh about you know, what is all this bryce and stuff coming up like come on big get with the program grandpa Come on. He's the future big and you know, I feel like you I just feel dumb and I feel uncool Well, I just think back to that kid in 15 grandstand saturday last year just over the balcony I love the bryce What are you talking about like this sucks and now now i'm drinking the kool-aid. What's wrong with me, man? It's too much. I stink. All right big second pitch You're picking backwards here. Where are you going? Well, listen the difficulty that the course set up the scoring conditions that was a thrill and delight today It we registered it two on the on the proper test index 10 rounds in the 80s only five in the 60s That is you can you read what proper test index what yeah So it's a ratio of scores in the 80s to scores in the 60s and anything I mean two and above is historically like we don't get proper tests anymore And so to get a two on thursday at augusta tc. I thought you made a great point every year at augusta it's like a different vintage and I love this year. I'm looking to buy cases. I think it's gonna eat you know, I hope they don't dial anything back It's so good. There were three shots in particular. You guys talked about Ludwig Chippin off from the back of 13 into into the creek. That was fantastic P read watching that ball bound over 15 and we saw it all day like I just don't remember seeing a lot of that In recent years and I love that. I absolutely love it big bob degreaning himself on 15 like I felt like there were more shots this year that kind of Reminded me when I was a kid and first getting into the masters and in You know that that like oh my gosh that ball still oh look where this ball ends up that ball is still rolling and I just feel like maybe we weren't getting as much of that in years past and today I felt like The ball was just moving on the ground and guys were flummoxed and I love it. I absolutely love it So that was my second one. Randy one thing I'd add to that I would like to see I sat there for two hours on watching You know Basically like eye line with that back of 15. I just would love to see a few more balls go in the water there Like if they could cut it in on the left Like I didn't see Patrick reeds going but I had in my notes of like man Some of these they should roll into the water like long shots. You're saying the long ones Yeah, not all of them But if like if you miss long right you're you're good and you got the chip But if you if you go at that pin and you miss long left like I feel like that should be wet But I like that You're you're alive back there because it makes that shot back up to the to the green that much more crazy Like you the risk of chipping back into the pond You know what I mean like if the pond cuts in too close Then you you don't have much of as much distance chipping back onto that green and that is a nightmare But they still like he had to still drop but it was p P hit in the water. Yeah, it dropped and then hit an unbelievably good shot But he's like I'm like I like to hit in the water twice. Yes. I'd like to see like I would like to That pond is not in play it should be and I don't want it to be Totally in play like I don't want all those balls going in there But there's an opportunity where and it seems like they're trying to do where the the pond cuts like if you do miss over the left side of 15 There's a much more likely chance it goes in the pond than than right, you know And I just want it to be a little more, you know, like I would like to see two or three more go in and because they're still hitting that Chip back. That's that's why it's like. Oh, man Like I you know fred couples had a train right he had two in the water. I saw some some of the old He was tears rolling before that Yeah, he came in at two under and just wrecked it man, and then he hit in the water on 16 That was kind of tough to watch potential potential cooler narrative developing around. I know I know I felt like I in my machine. What's going on here? Yeah See in four putts Woodlands ball long of 15 deserved to get wet It did not and he still struggled with the chips But that that was a little further right of the flag, you know, but I'm with you a little bit a few more balls in the water I think is good a quick throw in the light My favorite pin on a 16 today had to enjoy it. I You know, I'm not sure if they're going to go top shelf on the right again this week. So Um Go to the influencer pins ready. They should do that. They do a back right day in a front right day I think we'll see we're going to get waterboard with jack whole locations Oh, uh God, which we got waterboard with jack today. You know via different shows Jack was around he was available today Another little thrill and delight uh curt kitty yama kneel I know that wasn't one of your better ones, but I did get a a sick satisfaction of brian camble dfl on the beluga big board Fire in a 71 today. Yeah Yeah Yeah Some of the some of the pti Hmm. Hmm. That's a good question And I think the pti is what it is. I I'm giving credit to brian camble. I'm the pti is blind Yeah, I'm choosing I'm choosing to to recognize his great round today Kind of an awesome birdie the first three and they're just like held on for dear life, you know It's it's kind of great birdie 15 credit. I saw him come through 15 16 played solid and I was like, you know, I'm saying to myself bummer I didn't want to explain to anyone sitting around me what the blue is big board was Let's just just kind of quietly Ruminating on brian camble stunning on me also how long lee maybe the maybe yeah the most unexpected 71. Um I mentioned the scottian roary possibility speaking of how long Yeah, please do you see the howl tong uh story about him I guess he was hanging out with roary and faxing was over there. He thought faxing was an amateur He thought faxing was like a low handicap amateur He's like, yeah, this guy's pretty good for an amateur. It's a pretty good move Really good That's always out of disgusted by that Uh, the last thing I had I kind of had the the roary and scottie possibility as one of my thrills and delights But I also you guys mentioned the great man justin rose being involved I just think they're the supporting cast of what could be an unbelievable drama this weekend when you consider p When you consider tommy fleetwood when you consider disease x zander shockly like we have some real interesting possibilities and Guys that have done it guys that haven't done it guys that are you know popular guys that aren't like it just it's It's a really nice potpourri and i'm i'm very excited. I I think The board the conditions i'm more amped this year than I felt in quite a while We had uh, you mentioned tommy fleetwood. I think Cody maybe we had one more report uh from from on the ground regarding, uh, mr. Fleetwood Some say the bird noises here to best the national are piped in but we all heard the rooster crow when tc Denied tommy fleetwood three times on the preview podcast the gallery will not stop talking about it as tommy strikes triumphantly Across the hogan bridge here in a min corner on the 12th hole playing some very fine golf. He has risen indeed Some are declare some are declaring that mr. Tc's predictions were blasphemous crackle So i worked on that we worked out that one in the media center this morning. Yeah, something very little catholic little catholic school Speaking of birds Was was soli You know you were saying there are a lot of birds out there Tons of birds today too. They're real Solly, any any new sightings for you today new birds. I know like four birds total. So no Did you see any of them out there? I'm so hopeful. Did we just do the rooster thing? So yeah, it's good. Yeah, it was good. It was good. I this yeah It plays. Yeah, I thought it I thought it played uh Ranny good stuff, man We will oh can I can I get what ranny one thing just for you? I had a solid five minutes with fernando mendoza today Up by the uh first tee. Yeah, whoa. Yeah fernando. Yes number the future number one pick He's loving oh, I got met tom brady last week going to the raider. He's all jacked up He's just the nicest guy in the world truly I thought a lot not as well as the acorn ball Uh, yeah, but just like just dripping sincerity. Just happy to be there just oozing sincerity just militantly sincere, you know naughty hard not to like them randy Really, and I feel the same way with some of those interviews as you did and I was like, man, come on This guy's nice. Yeah, I mean, I hope he doesn't get chewed up and spit out by sin city Uh, but the nice guy not as tall as I thought it would be but delightful interaction You know who is taller than we thought he would be danerl. Oh hard to work in manna. Yes p.m. God. Yeah, he's he's a Slender man. It's like six six Oh, wow Do you guys see the clapper out there? No, I haven't seen the clapper That's why I'm the green jacket. Oh one other one for you tc jr smith now And obviously, you know in the golf world, but uh, I think what what logo do you think he was wearing like top to bottom? Is he a Malibu I would get there's a malibu island just From toe head to toe and tree farm gear Whoa, really alternate logo christmas tree farm just visor polo. I mean I was like, whoa, that's just it was I was like Okay zb. I see you ballin. How about that? Yeah, it was it was uh, that was that was a surprising delight for me as well You know, did you see brooks's mock neck today? I loved it tc I absolutely loved it right right after spieth hit that disgraceful bunker shot I was like, oh, was that a mock neck? So it kind of cheered me up a little bit Like the mock neck. I thought it looked good. It's great. I know And and I got a couple brooks seems, you know, he's What did he finish at minus one? Even yeah, it's like 50 guys at even it's great. It looks very um You know mustard and mayo just solid super so two holes. I was watching uh, did you guys happen to see, um kata okas Shot on 12 12. It was shots on 12 All of them are important and all of them need to be watched. Uh, it was so sick dead shank dead shank tea short of the water and then just like an absolute mega flop That was like still short of the green and then a chip that almost went in the bunker and that he fucking caches the foot It was awesome So we might need max that come in and give us the oral history of this I believe max was playing with him today. He was good round for max even part of it as well Yeah, can I give you one more? Uh Because I kind of had a question here. Did you learn anything new about a player? Um, and I just want to shout out like I I'm going to declare That i'm in on harry hall deige I'd like to join you just the hat the all of it the facial hair the body the outfit the wimpy ass tea shots I mean, it's just it's kind of a thrill to see up close and uh It's a lot but it's it's definitely something and i'm i'm i'm rooting for uh, i'm rooting for the bloke That's all you guys see the hat today. Like did you see the actual The uh, I'll see if I can I just sent to kody, but I'll see if I can get it up here as well But uh, like it wasn't just the the bryson hat it looked like um, like an actual like pillsbury doboy Yeah To it. Yeah, that's not right. Sorry. No, it's pretty. Yeah, it's pretty pretty billowy This one's trying to put up that right there. Yeah We had a lot of a lot of substance to it But it's just like the razor shave like I was I saw him behind 17 T and you know, so I was like right on the rope line and it's just like he's just got a razor shave up the back of his Of his skull and that but he's got this it's a picky blinder. Yeah, he's got some good facial hair I was like, man, I should probably get on board with this guy like we're kind of same wavelength. He's experimenting with the look Um, and you know, he's got like air jordan's on. I mean, it's just all kinds of stuff going on It's really something leg. Did you see a couple weeks ago when he flew to the peaky blinders premiere? And then back to the tournament. Yeah I'm in all of this man. I'm a big Blinders guy. God is absolute boys over from the uk Yeah, brought the blokes in for the premiere About that man. All right. We'll take this awful idea. I'm very very pumped to hear that And one other thing for you tc same group. Uh, I I might also be a bretonite. I think he's got the riz He's got juice. He's got he's got some, um Oh, yeah fire and uh, he missed he missed a putt on on 16 did a really classy like 360 putter flip But like style, you know what I mean? I caught it. Just was like, oh, that's guys an athlete tasteful Yeah, he's got you know loud traits all of it. So I kind of thought he might be boring, but I'm I'm I'm kind of coming around on him seeing him up close. So yeah, even par 72 today Uh, somebody that didn't do a classy Putter flip was big shot bob. I think we need to address the behavior from big shot bob. You probably do Yeah, he he is we He was on 12 He said Jesus fuck On 12 he took a gash out of the fairway on 14 He flicked off the whole you know, he flicked off just indiscriminately on 15 And I had another helper maybe the golfing gods. We don't even know who it was directed at Yeah, it's just it's not good guys and uh, it's just really really surly out there right now Randy, are we should we be worried about the augusta area? with You know big shot bob tonight. I told neil and soli. I sent him direct message I said guys just be careful. He might be roaming the streets. Could you could you pass along the range from addressed? Maybe we can get him in a confined area like a proper place to To purge. I mean he really does it is like he looks like a guy that's just like keeping some urges inside of him It doesn't look great I think I saw you tweet something about nike making that shirt custom form One of the fucking sure was awful I thought it was one of his better woods. I'm not gonna lie. I actually saw it in person. I was like, I kind of dig that one man, maybe I just look like a dish towel But you know like you find it your grandmother's house like hanging on the stove handle Oh, man Uh, we could on the leaderboard a bit. Yeah, let's do it. Let's let's we're approaching an hour and a half I feel like I need this. This is very yeah, so guys burns was five under on the par fives today I just want to call that out. That's that's a You know interesting interesting development First I think you're gonna see still five under for the last time I said that. Oh, I know but just five under on the par fives Like it's definitely also was in the open Isn't it great though knowing like he's not gonna win it's really that comfort. That's a got her up Uh We loud so day day played well lowery kind of sneaky Sneaky good round from him despite the the uh three pot there We don't need to get to disease x until tomorrow. I don't think We talked about the great man team rose just getting every last shred of value out of his game ringing the towel Who else nick taylor? Uh, yeah sneaky t10 there. All these guys are stun on the beluga. It's tough Aaron rye was very involved for a long time today. He shot he shot 71 We talked about homa mccarty Bridgeman in his in his debut getting it under par in his first round. That's exciting stuff. Well, maybe after you too That's good. I'm in lineups this week, dude. Hell. Yeah, you have to hear that value play Right tan played well. I want to shout out keegan bradley keegan was uh, I don't often have to hand it to keegan keegan was four over walking off the seventh green and shot 72 I think he got over the rider cup right as walking off the seventh green. It sounds like It's time it's time to let it go How's playing the world steven gerard or Ryan gerhardt got tc ryan gerhardt led the field in putting today like you could cancel christmas Also deed your your sung jam Last in approach play last an approach play in a field that has some of the aforementioned Guys, you know, hose maria fred couples all the amateurs. It's it's bad for our guy with the irons Bob did surpass him with that display coming in but he ended up being second worst Uh, samuel stevens 72 just keep an eye on that one. I think samuel stevens might be a proper player in training uh, I heard windham was really Just muttering a lot of stuff under his breath had some tantrums out there. He shot 72 Sergio shot 72. He had a he had a custom custom augusta fireballs bag Like it's there's just little there's little things sometimes that like I was just watching live from this morning and Sergio's bag was out on the range and it was you know, it was it was white with these little pink Flowers on either side of the fireballs logo. There's just little things that kind of remind me of like, oh man Like sometimes I forget how fucking stupid live Sergio's low low live, right? Oh, yeah, I think he's single handedly holding up the dam I didn't think about terehattan one single time until you just said his name today. I was at the master's Shot 74 Bill get 18 shoot 74. It's probably the course as well. Okay, because he looked like he was playing all right coming through 15 Yeah, I think god like that. I think that group at even I'm fascinated to see huge group Who kind of emerges from that you got god her up speed kepka Benny booms jt 72 from him pretty decent start. Uh, jake nap 73 good to see You know, uh, some signs of wise from look at Dustin Johnson 73 Uh, like I think 73 was not a bad score today Totally, how did actually look you you were with that group? He was up and down. What are you end up shooting? 173 he was he was up and down He drove it in the bush on on five and had to take an unplayable to get out of that one Um, right He had a great chip in on 14 if you want to go back and watch a shot after Chipping up the slope there on that front right pin, but he on 17 He's he's fun to watch. He's creative. Um, there's just oh, there's always something going on He's got fun shot shapes to watch and it's always kind of jarring to contrast his shot shapes up against the right He's obviously that he plays with so it was uh, that was that was I'm glad I picked that group this morning read Fleetwood oxhede was uh was definitely the highlight of my day Um How far back is too far back Only the one I'm going to shout out while we're there is came young who also so yeah Well, that was I was gonna. Oh, yeah, it's right because because I think I think plus two still in this I think anything beyond that's probably Probably tough sledding but like came young was four over through Seven as well. And then it was not going well because I was I was with them and uh, yeah He was just it was just kind of sloppy. He like on two. He dumped it in the front bunker I think he just hit a mono drive on two Position a dumped in the front right bunker may bogey there. I think Um stinky stuff. No, he made par but still not not not what you want to do after that drive Um, I think you know, yeah, it's a long tournament. I think plus two can still I think a levitt can still win um Which I don't know if we've if we've fully addressed the levitt situation We felt like that kind of got got just kind of brushed off a little bit there if we're talking about the plus twos And we had two doubles he doubled nine and 13 He had he had bounced back on 14 hit a seed in there um Smooth smooth. Oh tc. I will say this. He got Crowned on 15. Oh absolutely crown. Oh my god. Not a good chip from behind the green. Can't believe that didn't go in the water that that was uh That was not not uh, it was um, um becoming I'll say that let's talk Ludwig tomorrow night. We'll see what he does Tomorrow, I think I think it's inconclusive evidence. There was also bad vibes. Like you said in that group with rom right, so We can we can go from there tomorrow. Um, it's a good spin in the moment tc Bad vibes. Yeah. No, I think it's rom. I swear to god chemistry and the group is off I got to 14 and I saw Ludwig uh was was plus three and rom plus six I literally thought out loud. I was like, oh my god, tc's gonna blame rom for Ludwig playing like shit I literally thought that out loud that was I was late in the day Where where I was sitting on 15 16 and there's a a bit of a lot of these guys are not on the main scoreboard And they flip they turn the like the whole the three guys coming through they turn that scoreboard Or when they turn that one over I was like, oh my god rock six. Oh like what the hell is going on? That wasn't out there today. That was those it was just in tc. I it's just it kind of stunk man. Sorry All right. Well, you know, I think he salvaged something Coming down the stretch there Uh, I want to give a shout out to the flashy wide boy marco penge Uh, he made a triple on two We played pretty nicely. Otherwise he shot 76 I think he I think he rebounds tomorrow and same as brendan Super flashy. I don't know super proper. He visited the delt's account over there. Um What else low rasmus rasmus neergard peterson plus five right now rasmus hoyard plus six Uh, I got foxy struggled a little bit as well. Can't lay doing regular can't lay major stuff We're in the beluga's honey hole here. I kind of call it all the the I'm fishing in the right pod here in the midfield I think the beluga's gonna age well this week. Yeah disappointing stuff from uh from from uh, Daniel burger Plus four from him Minwoo plus six 78 from Minwoo we've been glazing him a little bit. Uh, and then neil you're got your guy nico Chavarria That one was on me. I just forgot the e. I mean I was moving so fast Um, and then yeah, and then davis riley we still can't figure it out, but he He's struggling. It's not it's not going well. He lost gosh It's probably changed since I looked at this afternoon, but he was when I looked at it last he was Last in the field strokes gained off the tee by more than two shots off the person who was second to last like it's it's it's kind of like a Nick dumb lap type of type of situation. It's not good um Real quick. I think another another couple things I had was just People were pretty appalled by the miss his appearance, uh on the espn a miss tc not the Neil I don't know if you saw this Who is a miss not familiar with the miss? There's somebody who was appalled online. It's a good example of one Thousands of tweets from trod Carter in l. U This is not a slide at laura rutledge or like I think some of the people on espn are doing good stuff there's just between the par three contests yesterday and Whatever the fuck this is there's just some bad signs going on It sounded like the the app was glitchier this year. Uh, it was slow moving and glitchier I don't know what's going on with that. The broadcast was a little shaky today like they should Uh scotties tee shot on 11 twice Um, there was just some weird cuts here and there. I don't know if they're they're kind of But also some nice picture and picture stuff that they were doing too. So a little bit uneven overall So we'll see if that improves into tomorrow. Um, can I just say two things about the miss Yeah, who is this things? Uh, he's a professional wrestler. And so I gotta think there's like an espn wwe tie in Which is maybe the masters why he's there But he also went to miami He's a red hawk tc. He's one of us Me and soli I don't care. Hell yeah Yeah, I think I would just say that the the whole like, oh, well, you gotta understand this is an espn cross promotion No, you gotta that sounds like espn's problem. That does not sound like I'm not saying he should be there. I'm just answering the question. Why might he be there? Yeah And then I don't know. I just I feel like I'm just getting to the point where There's just a lot of really cute stuff. I think we will unpack this on sunday But there's some stuff that just feels a little too cute. I think the merch stuff has jumped the shark completely I'm very much like a I feel like the guy who's like, let's put the christ back in christmas What have they done to my masters? I feel like they need to just sell like five five skews of shirts five skews of hats get rid of this gnome Get rid of a bunch of the bullshit that like people are just going to the masters to buy stuff That that is disgusting. Do not say happy holidays to tc You see your wife asked me to get her a gnome Your household wants to know we will address that in house. Okay. So don't get one It's like when she hired the people to put up your christmas. Exactly I like literally said, you'll give me one of those gnomes. I was like seriously. She's like, yeah, I'm like, okay, I'll try Tc any thoughts on amazon prime first time amazon prime has been introduced here as a masters We got some extra coverage. You got to have something on it. It was nice It was nice the one to three window to have that on a lot of music going on like they did like all sorts of musical lead-ins um, I think the Just it was it was all like it wasn't that different than I could just see like there was a lot going on all day. There was a lot of different commentators. There was a lot of Shuffling in and out of different different people. Um, the right thompson stuff is just a little too syrupy for me these days and a little too over the top like they're just they're just kind of You know nostalgia maxing on that stuff I don't know. I just she locking from the guy who wants to put christ back in christ That is a bit surprising What'd you guys think? to heat the page and coating randy. I thought it was I thought it was solid. I thought it was Yeah, I don't want to jump the jump the gun because I do think there's a larger There's some shifts in the masters that I think is like we're joking about it now But I do think there's an interesting conversation to be had we can maybe do that in sunday Uh, but I do think there's some things that are more is more and I think The coverage falls into that bucket and so I got done today and I was like one to three Hell yeah, I can't wait to fire up like a new broadcast. You guys know how I feel about the featured groups featured streams all of those things I'd rather just watch broadcast. It's nice to be able to fire that up at one flip side of that if I'm if I'm putting myself in the positions of the masters in the green jackets is There is a little bit of a difference in that like Feel that christmas morning feeling of oh my gosh the broadcast is starting when it's one o'clock and it's amazon privam And it's terry gannon. No offense terry gannon. That's just It's a different it is a different feeling when it's like I've been waiting all day for sunday night sort of a Sort of vibe and like I'm gonna hear jim nance at three o'clock and I can't fucking I can't wait It's a little different now. So that's just kind of taking the good with the bad I guess but they had nance they had trevor they had a lot of really really good stuff and Overall was very additive. I thought but it's it's a change It just I wasn't watching it but to me it's just like man I wish it was just come on the spn at one like I don't need two channels That's one of the beauties of watching the masters is you need one channel It's one of the things I hate about the pj door watching is like I have to change channels in the middle of it and Uh, could not come up with a first world problem faster in my head than than having to change the channel but It I don't know that I think it's watching but that's that's how I feel. There's just some little troubling signs In little symptoms here here and there and I think yeah, we'll talk about that more on sunday But I hopefully the app Hopefully they push out an update or something overnight because it just it felt a little like that's The master's app is like the the best thing in the world and if that starts lacking or Not not being the best thing in the world anymore. We got problems. Some of these leaders might start go to live Again, uh, if you want to watch coverage, you can get it on the app or on the website I was riding with Shane billy and wags all morning. I love that. I think that's why the transition over to amazon prime today With the cbs team and mbc team was just kind of a little bit too much and I always leave this event Reminding myself of of yesteryears and espn golf coverage and wanting more of that And for some reason after getting them yesterday and then you know a little bit today. I'm just like I don't have that feeling at all which stinks And I don't know what it is, but I hope that that flushes out You know before tomorrow is done at least Yeah Uh, I think we should move to move to wrap this up land this plane. I unfortunately because I'm a good guy I'm going to take a look at the order of our our draft results Uh through day one. It's not looking good for me. I remember after the draft being like, I can't believe you guys are going to give me Fucking bryson and john rom. This is Unbelievable that you guys are giving me these kodi. Do we have uh, do we have the rest of the results? It's not it's not good It's not good. Solly in first, uh, right now projected 3.9 million dollars Uh, can I also just say you guys tried to screw me by having a five round draft? When when you have a snake you should it needs to be even never around, but yeah continue Should we do another round now? Uh neil in second right now, uh a distant second 2.1 Some guys in the mix. Yeah Long way to go long way to go Andy, uh with the eventual champion jordan speeth on his team is currently in third with 1.07 08 if you're rounding Million dollars tron and I coming in under the million mark for a combined five players, which is tough these days in pro golf Uh, he's at 967 000. I'm at 450 000 currently only one player projected to make the cut. Probably would uh bad stuff for please dj pie Was that louder today was so loud dude. I'm so glad you said that yes He was on I couldn't hear I couldn't hear him say it one time. Yeah, uh, really? Oh, yeah, it sounded like he was screaming at the top Yeah, I got a mic done. Yeah, I didn't hear him once I probably watched nine opening tee shots I thought you were going the complete opposite direction with that dj. We did I could not hear him. Oh, that's wild Can I give one shout out you guys will enjoy? Uh, lotty would uh, Excuse me. What woad uh in in person Come on, come on. Let's flame them. See everybody This is twice as bad because I better her parents as well and they're on their way back to tala hassey right now And they're listeners of the shows they've probably heard me miss. Okay Uh, well guys, what a what a hell of a first day great to great to have the whole gang guys Sounds like you had a great day on site. Neal. I wish you a little better fish. Yeah, I'm gonna find some honey holes Don't worry. Yeah, see if you maybe I don't know spinner bait or something tomorrow. I take the fish finder out I was trying to you know, you're too cute today. We're gonna hear from spiel tomorrow. Yeah, I know I that was a miss by me I I got behind the I got behind James man. I'm sorry. I sound like you were frazzled. I was I 80 81 today It's a long tournament man. It's fine. It's just Thursday. I wanted you to lose the tournament today Did you you can lose it on thursday? Did you lose the tournament? No, I don't think so Who won the golf course or who won today deal or the golf course? I don't think I battled back here for a good live show performance. I'll let the Viewers be a judge of that. What was the best concession item any any new? Um That was the best concession I didn't need concessions today. I didn't uh No, I'm kind of I well, I had a cheeseburger under the umbrellas with my brother and sister-in-law. That was delightful Nothing to report on that chewy, uh, the chewy. I haven't had the candy bar yet. No, I need to do that tomorrow Can you commit make a commitment to me on that? Will you have one of those tomorrow? So you can ask Yeah, where the people eat tomorrow? You know what? I'll do the one better. I'll bring it home Okay, and I'll eat it on the live show and I'll do not a live reaction Do not commit to eating the whole thing is what I'm gonna save you from Like you should taste it, but do not I won't let you commit to eating the whole thing You have had it hard to finish this falls into the same camp. What are we doing? You know see if you can eat it through the whole show. Yeah I'm so happy you've had it. So uh, I had two bites. I couldn't I made it 25 of the way through I couldn't couldn't finish it. It's like an rx bar Tune in tomorrow for some food reviews. Yeah It's not good. I uh, I want to give a shout out to wane riley On this oh god tc. Yes. So he was following rory's group. It was dead silent Uh next to seven and he just he because he's in the crowd They don't let him inside the ropes and all of a sudden it's just I think Everyone turns around who the that guy with the hat on he's he's a legend radar radar. Well, so radar had he had a he had a great, uh Just a great lead-in segment that they threw up on on on x the everything app And he's got his hat on and everything but he's he was it's good. It's going to be immense I think it's gonna be the best masters in years. It's gonna be immense It was it was gotta got me in for the day They delivered I do want to give a shout to I believe the bunch of college bros that were near the concession stand just left of seven Uh jenna simms came like walking across the walkway. She has like a very bright green like Crop top like attention seeking outfit. She walks in front of like five college bros and they legitimately like Oh, yeah, looking good jenna looking good. Like gave her the full on like, uh Cat call essentially as she walked by it felt very 1973 In that moment, but I also think she lapped it up and quite really enjoyed it. What are we doing guys? What are we doing these people should be talking about shot values That's what I'm saying and kepka's wife's jewelry. She had a green wrong. Sorry roms roms wife, uh, uh had a green blazer on And some of the most obnoxious jewelry you could ever possibly imagine like a cross Uh, you would actually appreciate that as you're putting the christ back in christmas cc, which is a massive diamond cross Uh, like some of the jewelry is so big that it like you would have to think that it's fake But you also know he's made 300 million dollars and you know, it's real Just extremely obnoxious stuff going on like a green blazer green blazer like a green jacket green blazer. Yes like a bad idea Back karma for john And indirectly ludwig Yeah, bad vibes in the group. Yeah Look forward to that conversation tomorrow I may have to call in for that Uh, guys, that's that's it. That's it for round one We got plenty plenty plenty more to talk about round two and round three and round four Uh, join us after each night of after play can you know concludes?
