Welcome everyone, it is the local Toyota Dealers KSR postgame show. Kentucky with a, probably the performance of the year in Rupp Arena, beating Vanderbilt 91-77. and what really was from start to finish an excellent game by Kentucky to get a much-needed victory that probably ensures they will not have to play on Wednesday in the SEC tournament and will certainly be big coming for seeding. You can give us a shout, 859-280-2287. I am at KS Bar and Grill where it's been an exciting day here, both before the game, during it, and now folks here, some hanging out after. Right now, Kansas and Arizona are playing. It's 40-33 Arizona, but all of our attention was on Rupp. And I think this was Kentucky's best performance of the year against a good team from start to finish. They led right out of the gate. Colin Chandler hit a couple big threes to start and really never took their foot off the gas, going up 10 early. And once they got a double-digit lead, basically kept it the entire game. Went all the way up. At one point it was 22, but really stayed between 22 and 13 the entire game. Vanderbilt would make shots, but then Kentucky would make a big play. A lot of people to stand out. We'll start with Colin Chandler, five threes in the first half, six for the game. He gave Kentucky the spread that they really needed throughout, but he didn't just make threes. I thought he penetrated. He was able to pass at the right times. He was excellent. Denzel Aberdeen, quiet but with 15 points. Also, I thought played excellent. Really good distribution. You know, the staff that I heard today, I had no idea this was true. 16 assists and one turnover in the last four games. 16 assists and one turnover. That's a pretty amazing thing to see him do. And he was excellent. leading the team and really playing with a calm but able to penetrate and score. I've been so impressed by him. Owe in the second half was excellent. When he gets that head of steam and starts going to the basket, there's nobody better in the country with a head of steam getting to the rim. And then today he finished. Kentucky was 12 of 14 on layups today. We've talked a lot about the missing layups in games. 12 of 14 on layups. I thought Malachi Moreno was excellent. 11 points. He had four different post-up scores with his back to the basket, which we really haven't seen a lot from him this year. One-on-one moves where he would get little hook shots or little post-up moves. I thought Malachi was great. If I could just get him to grab the ball a little stronger, I think he would be – we don't want him to be too good or he might not be here, but he'd be in the NBA. But he is – I thought he played well. And then the guys who are the reserves, who when they've gone in the game, it has been a problem for Kentucky. I thought tonight they had played their role really well. Diabate's been really good the last few games. I thought he was again. You've got to give him one shot a half where he gets the ball, but he's going to shoot it no matter what. But the way he finished at the rim was excellent. Brandon Garrison, I felt like, had some really good moments tonight. Brandon Garrison played really good defense, I thought, for a lot of the game. Got some buckets. Jasper Johnson came in, especially in the first half, and was very effective. And then Yelovich hit threes early. Didn't play a lot in the second half, but with 16 minutes, I thought, was played really well, too. A total team effort. When you get all eight guys who played a lot of minutes, when you get them all contributing, This box score tonight is what I think an effective Kentucky team looks like. Starters play most of the minutes. Reserves come in, hold serve. Starters extend the lead, and that's what happened. And I was really impressed with the entire game. I thought Mark Pope had a great game plan. They attacked. They were able to not make the mistakes that they made last game, and they attacked Vandy at their weakness. They did just high ball screens. If Vandy did not extend out, they would shoot the three. If they came out, they'd roll to the basket. And if they gave the guy with the ball a step, he would get to the rim. And really, Vandy had no answer for it. I thought it was the best offensive game. The best offensive game Kentucky's played all season. So you've got to be happy about it. And the impact of this game is huge. So let's just start with the SEC tournament. Kentucky now 10-6 in the conference, play at A&M and play Florida. But I think if Texas loses another game and they play Texas A&M, actually, I think, Billy, are they playing right now, Texas and Texas A&M? I'll check. If Texas A&M wins right now, then I think Kentucky is guaranteed to not play on Wednesday. But if not, Texas will basically have to win out for us to not play on Wednesday. Right now it's basically tied. Texas 31-30. So, and if Kentucky beats A&M, it will also ensure they don't play on Wednesday. But probably by winning, they've ensured they don't play on Wednesday. And what's crazy is they now have a chance. It's a small chance, but it's a chance to get a double bye. If they beat A&M and Alabama beats Tennessee tonight, there is a process they can get a double bye even if they lose to Florida, which would be kind of amazing. But that process does exist if they beat A&M. So the worst-case scenario, which was, you know, you were going to have to play on Wednesday at 1 o'clock, that is a very, very unlikely scenario because of the win today. You also got your fourth top-20 net win. No team in the SEC has four wins in conference in the top 20. That's big because when it comes to seeding, They really look at who you beat. As Jay Billis often says, anybody can lose a game. Who did you beat? And they really focus on who you beat. Kentucky now has beaten a lot of good teams with this win. And then when you get to the NCAA tournament, there was some talk amongst some bracket people online that Kentucky right now might be a 6 seed. Most of the teams on the 6-7 line of the seeding, they all lost today. So Kentucky is probably looking at a six seed today. And if you beat A&M, I think you can make a strong argument that they're going to be a six seed, which when you consider where they were during the course of the year, that's pretty awesome. So if you want to see Kentucky make a run in March, I'm not sure you could have had much of a better result than today. They had the three guards who, I guess, Otega Owe has named the three guards, Aberdeen, Owe, and Chandler, the three-headed goat. Do you like that, Billy? The three-headed goat for Owe, Aberdeen, and Chandler? No, but they are really important. You've got to have two of those three on the court at all times, I think. No, I mean, they're not – they are the most – I mean, they are 80% of our offense. And the three-headed goat – Are you trying to say O.A. can't name himself the three-headed goat? He can name himself whatever he wants. Okay. Well, the three-headed goat had a big impact in the game, and they're playing well. You've gotten good contribution from four different big men, and then today Jasper was able to play good minutes too. So I'm very happy. I think the results in other games have come out well. And so tonight, if you're rooting for Kentucky, I would say hope Alabama beats Tennessee and hope Florida beats Arkansas. If you want to see Kentucky have the best chance of having a good SEC tournament run, root for Alabama over Tennessee, root for Florida over Arkansas. Both of those results would be good for the Cats. 859-280-2287. I'm here at KS Bar. Feel free to come out and say hello if you're sitting in traffic coming home from Mark Pope. We will take your calls. It is a celebratory Saturday as the Cats win a big one over Vanderbilt, 91-77. We'll take a break. We'll be right back. It's the Local Toyota Dealers KSR Post Game Show. Welcome back. It is the Local Toyota Dealers KSR Post Game Show. The Cats get a big win against Vanderbilt. We are here at the KS Bar and Grill. Let me give a couple little shout-outs. First of all, a guy writes in and says, Matt, I'm walking down the street in Hamilton, Ohio, and I forgot my AirPods, AirPods, and so I'm just letting it blare on the street. So hello to Hamilton, Ohio. And if you're hearing this guy's phone, you know what? We won. You have to listen to my voice. That's just the way it goes. He forgot his AirPods. That's okay. Also, shout out to one of our biggest fans, Meemaw, I know is listening in Glasgow. Hope you're doing great. And then, you know, all the people who I see holding the phone up to their ear here at the bar, thank you guys for coming out, too. I appreciate it. We like to try to – we'd love to be able to play it over the intercom here, but when the callers call, it echoes, and so we're not able to do it. But it's nice to see everybody, and it's neat, Billy. I'm looking around. All these people have the phone up to their ear, so they're listening to you. Did you have any important insight on the game before we get to the call? That is cool. We know that you're in a good mood when you start shouting people out on the radio too. That's true. That's true. Yes, and also a big shout-out right here to the front row, the UK baseball team with a big win today. Oh, yeah. I can give you a shout-out right here. Give a big shout-out to our UK baseball guy right here. They beat St. John's today. Oh, he's turning red. That's okay. You got a big win. You get it. They won the series against St. John's. The finish one. What time is the game tomorrow for people who want to go? 1 o'clock at Kentucky Proud Park tomorrow as UK plays St. John's. 8-5-9-2-8-0, 22-87. Let's get first, Billy. Who's up? I did want to say one thing. Brandon Garrison sure did get smacked in the face today, didn't he? First of all, that call, he should have been kicked out. And I'm not somebody who's normally kicked someone out. But that was after the whistle when he got hit in the face. If that would have been in the regular course of play, then that would be a flagrant foul. But to get hit in the face like that after the whistle, because, I mean, I think the announcers, I don't know if Tom and Dane were 100% clear, although they said it. But that was not even the foul, Billy. The foul was before that. That was after the foul. So to me, I don't know how they don't kick him out there, don't you? No, they should have. But I did enjoy Doug Shows trying to announce it, and then the fans started booing him before he could say it. And that was a terrible call on the three where they called the foul on Chandler. Uh-huh, yeah. Come on. Where you tripped him. That was a terrible call. I mean, I actually don't mind that call when it happens, But I don't think that happened right there, do you? Yeah, he tripped him. You think he did trip him? He did, but, I mean, did it impact anything? I don't know. Not the shot. Hey, thank you, guys. Appreciate it. See, I'm being nice, Billy. I'm talking to people. No, you would have called that foul? Yeah, I think he tripped him. It's what the rule is. That's just how he shoots. Well, you can't do that. I mean, you just can't. You can't shoot and have your foot. He didn't kick it out. He did. You're wrong on that one. I think when they kick it to the side to try to draw a foul, I'm fine with that call. But he just kicked it forward. Yeah, you can't be just kicking your feet out like that every show. Look at you, Doug Schau's apologist. By the way, I actually thought the officials were good tonight. I thought that was part of why the game was entertaining, is they kind of just let them play. And I actually thought, Billy, the officials were good. What did you think? Yeah, I agree. I agree. Besides that guy not getting kicked out. I thought the way they officiated that game led to it being much more entertaining. Of course, we won, so that's partially why I feel it. All right, who's up first? Adam. Adam. Go ahead, Adam. Hey, what's up, Matt? What's going on? Typically conservative, but I like to see the pots stirred, so why don't call Aberdeen Chandler and O-A-A-O-C? Oh, I like that. You know what? We hadn't noticed that before. So are you saying now, sir, that you are Team AOC? When it comes to Kentucky basketball, yes. Look at my man, Team AOC, Aberdee, Oway, and Chandler. I had not noticed that until right now. Well done, sir. Appreciate the show, Matt. Appreciate you. Listen, those three guys have been so excellent this year, especially in SEC play. And, you know, Chandler, when he gets hot like today, this is a very difficult team to guard. When he's out, you see the lanes it gives away to the basket. And then Aberdeen, I mean, Tom Leach said that statistic, Billy, 16 assists and one turnover in the last four games. Incredible. That is incredible. I mean, that's for a point guard, and he's playing 37 minutes a game. Somebody that won a title last year bringing a lot of experience to this team right now He had such a disappointing first half of the year and to turn it around like he done that that really I think he is the difference in the season The way he has played I mean look, we haven't been great in SEC play, but we were bad for the first two games of the SEC, and really, since then, his shift, I think, has been a big reason why Kentucky's been much better. Who's next? Jake. Jake. Go ahead, Jake. Hey, Matt. I just wanted to shout out our three-point defense today because I know Chandler's getting all the praise and he definitely deserves it, but Vanderbilt shot like 70% I think if I'm right from two-point range, and the fact that we won a game by 14 when that happens says a lot, and I want to shout out... Wait a minute. Hang on just a second. Did you say Vandy shot 70% from two-point range. Is that right? Yeah, Corey Price tweeted that like 35 minutes ago, I think it was. That's amazing. He shot 77% from two. Now, that is amazing to win a game with them shooting that percentage from two. Yeah, it was unreal. And I don't know what Vandy shot from three, but the fact that we won that game by 14, it just says so much about O.A. and Chandler and the career tonight. So, I just want to give them a shout-out. I appreciate you having me on. Yeah, so you're right. So Vandy was 7 of 28 from three, and they were 30 of 58 from the field. So that means, Billy, they were what? 23 of 30. 23 of 30 from two. Wow. 23 of 30 from two, and we won going away. Yeah, and UK's been so bad at guarding the three lately, so that's a big change. Well, they missed some open ones as early, but we had a hand in their face most of the time. Nickel was three of 12 from three. And I think the two he hit were like back-to-back there towards once the game was over. Who's next? Isaac. Isaac. What's up, Isaac? Hey, what's going on, guys? So I got lucky today. I want to shout out my buddy Greg. He won tickets to the lower-level seats, like literally right behind where the ESPN guys are doing their announcing. So it was a whole new world for me just to be in the environment. It was a great environment. But just real quick. What was the crowd like, by the way? It's so hard for me on these ESPN games to be able to tell the noise. What was it like? Was it loud? Oh, yeah, so loud. And I know you guys are talking about, you know, you said the refs did good. If you were in the arena, there was one ref in particular. It wasn't even Doug Shows. It was one of his guys. One of his minions? Yeah, they were just, like, letting him have it. Because every call it seemed like he made that was controversial was going towards Vandy. So that was just. Yeah, was he the one that, what was the call he made? I know which one you're talking about, because he had a couple calls back-to-back that were against us. You're right. Yeah, and, man, everybody was letting him have it. But just real quick, I wanted to shout out, I'm a Morehead State alum. I saw Rocky Atkins down there. and then right behind him coming from, I guess, one of the suites was Andy Brashear. And I was just shocked by that because I'm usually not that close to the floor. So it was just incredible. Well, I mean, you were big time today. They had you seated with all the leaders of the state. Well done. Yeah, man, I felt like asking if we can get some legislation to keep that ref from ever coming to the state again. Well, you should try. I appreciate the call. So Texas leads A&M 44-38. So basically, if you would like to see us get a double bye, then it is probably good for Texas to win. But if A&M wins, then that will ensure we don't play on Wednesday. So would you rather have the chance, Billy, for a double bye or get rid of the possibility of playing on Wednesday? Which one's more important? Get rid of the chance of playing on Wednesday. Then you want A&M to win. Okay. All right. Go Aggies. Who's up next? Josh. Josh. Go ahead, Josh. Hey, a long-time caller calling in from work. All right. Is this your first – are you a long-time caller or a long-time listener? Long-time listener. First-time caller? I'm going to steal. I'm going to steal. It says AOC. Those three were playing out of their mind today. I'm actually – and I'm so proud of this team, the way they just keep fighting, because I was at the Gonzaga game earlier this season, and I felt like that was the lowest we could go, and they just kept fighting at that hole. And I want to get that double boss. It's very much possible, even if A&M wins. We just need things to follow our way. But I think this team can make, if they play like they are doing today, they can make some big noise and marks. And we should do a theme night for Florida, I think. I think like we did tonight. No, if we win, yeah, I'm with you. Especially if we beat A&M. I appreciate the call. If we beat A&M, then you could be playing in that Florida game where if you win, you definitely get a double bye. And I think Rupp, if we could win Tuesday, I think Rupp will be electric on Saturday. Electric. It would be – that would be a special environment if you could get that win – if you could get that win Tuesday. I mean, it will be a great environment anyway, but it will be an especially great environment. Because, again, you beat A&M, if you were to beat Florida, now all of a sudden you're sitting there knocking Billy going, well, why not a five seed? Yeah. Right? Yeah, that would be big. Just end the season with that momentum too. Oh, yeah. Listen, this was a massive win for Kentucky today. Even if they lose the last two, this was a massive win for them, and we'll see it when we're announcing these brackets here in a couple weeks. Who's next? Jason. Jason. Go ahead, Jason. hey matt how's it going tonight i'm doing wonderful well here's what i gotta say i got to sit in the lower bowl tonight too and um i feel like we just need a change around the the stigma of the old people just that they don't want to stand up and it's like we could have we were up 20 at one point right and if if the lower bowl gets into it we can extend to 30, and I feel like we could go undefeated at home in the SEC. If just the rich people just would stand up, cheer a little bit, you know, you can get behind this team and just keep rolling. So were you at the game? Yes, sir. I was in the lower bowl. So you were in the lower bowl. Did you stand up and were you loud? Oh, I got told to sit down three, four, five times. And what did you do? Well, the first time I was like, well, I'm not going to sit down. Then the second time I'm like, well, I kind of feel a little bad. Then the third time I'm like, well, I paid for my ticket, buddy. I ain't sitting down. Oh, so that's interesting. You went from confident to peer pressure to back to confident again. Yeah. Interesting. Okay. There's probably some psychology to that. You know, I've said this for years. I think people should be not only allowed to stand, they should be encouraged. Also, I don't think should be rude, so that's a balance. And I think usually we sit too much at the games. And, you know, today it felt like the arena was really electric early, but I couldn't tell if that was true after the first 10 minutes. But I will say, again, when you watch these games on ESPN, it's hard to tell what the crowd is anywhere. Whereas, if you turn the games on CBS, you can tell when the crowd's into it when it's not, so I think it's just how they mix the sound. Appreciate the call. It's really one of my kind of pet peeps. Like, right now, let's see, it's Texas. I don't know what game's on CBS, but I was watching a game earlier today on the CBS Sports Network, and I'm telling you, watch a game on the CBS Sports Network and just hear how loud you can hear the crowd, and it's just not the same on ESPN, especially when we're on the SEC Network. I know today was on ESPN. Who's next? DW. DW, what's up? Hey, guys. So I've been super critical of Pope here this past year because it's just been a weird year, you know. But it's still good wins like this going into March that make me think, you know, like if he can be the dude for this thing of ours, then I wouldn't want anyone else, you know. I agree with that. It's a big if. Yeah, I agree with that. I know it's still a big if. But, like, wins like this buy me into that next season. Because you kept saying, you know, next season's his season, you know, make or break. But we don't have any recruits. I'm sitting here looking around like, what do we have to even, like, why even wait until next season if it's going to suck? But wins like this keep me into it, you know? Well, I mean, listen, think about – I understand what you mean. And we can point to bad losses because they certainly exist. But you also can point to – I mean, these are some – They've got some great wins this year, right? I mean, they're going to go into the tournament having beaten Tennessee twice, having beaten Arkansas, having beaten Vanderbilt, having beaten St. John's, and beating Indiana. Those are good wins, all of them, every single one of them. Absolutely. And so you do have to, you know, you have to take the good with the bad. There are some terrible losses, but there's also some great wins. Yep. Thank you. Appreciate the call. I don't know. Would you rather Billy have a team that does what they're supposed to in every game or have a team that gets some great wins but then also takes some really disappointing losses? Probably the one that's more consistent because I know what to expect because there's been some really bad games in Nashville this year that we cannot forget. I can't forget. Well, but those were against good teams. I don't want to lose by 40 to Gonzaga, but what bothers me more is losing to Georgia at home. Losing to Georgia and Missouri at home is what bothers me more. I still, though, love that when you go into these games against good teams, you really can't rule these Pope teams out. Because then you go to the tournament, and we might be a six seed, and we got a good chance against the three, and maybe against the two in the next round. You might have a tough time getting out of that first game. You might lose to the 11. You're exactly right. Like, that's just kind of how it's been so far with Mark. Who's next? Charlie. Charlie. Go ahead, Charlie. Yes. First things first, I want to wish my brother Patrick Booth a happy 40th birthday. Oh, happy 40th to Patrick. Yeah, Billy's right. I'm in a good mood. I'm now saying happy 40th birthday to Patrick Booth. He'll love it. I love it. All the ability, all the looks, all man, and to the catch, those might lose in the first round, or they just might go to the final four. Hallelujah, holla back. Hallelujah, holla back. And Louisville lost, too, Billy. Did you see that? Dick Clemson, right? Pat Kelsey is now, what did I see? He is now 1-13 against quad 1A teams, which is basically a top 30 team – or excuse me, top 20 team at home or top 40 team on the road. I think he's now 1-13. I think his only one is us. Were we 1A at the time? I think we were at the time because I think they figure that stat out by what you were at the time, and we were at the time. So that's his only victory against a team that has been good. So would you rather be that? Because they don't lose to anybody bad, but they don't beat anybody good. No. Which would you rather be? No, I would not rather be that. So maybe there is some credence to what you're saying. That's right. 859-280-2287. We're going to take a break. There's a guy screaming here, Billy, at the bar. I'm not going to say anything, though, because we won. I'm going to keep a very positive attitude. Shout out, that guy. Yeah. he's talking to his buddy next to him and his buddy is within three feet and he's yelling but not like angry just that's how he's talking is in that volume take a break be right back it's local Toyota dealers KSR post game show welcome back it is Kentucky Sports Radio 859-280-2287 the text machine is 772-774-5254 one person writes my son is listening to the FC Cincinnati game his name is Henry and he asked if we could turn the radio to listen to Mr. Matt instead Mr. Matt, Billy, maybe you should start calling me that. What do you think? I called you Matthew for a while. You said I was the only person to do that. Well, my mom does. My mom calls me Matthew. Yeah, you know, I mean, there's been a lot in recent. It feels like it's happened a lot in the last few weeks. People come up to me, and they're like 23, 24, 25, something, and they'll show me a picture, Billy, of when I took a picture with them when they were like 9 or 10. and there's very few things that will make you feel older than that. Than seeing a picture of you with like this 6'4 kid when they were nine years old. And in my mind, Billy, I look the same, but I know that I do not. Yeah, and they've completely transformed. And they've completely transformed. And then you have to think, well, you probably have too. One person writes, Matt, I'm with Billy. Excuse me, I disagree with Billy. I want to have the double bye as a possibility because it will keep Kentucky playing hard. I think they're going to play hard. I mean, having these two good teams left, you know, I'd like to see them stay out of the eight or nine because I think Florida is so much better than the other teams. If you can get in the bottom half of that bracket, then, Billy, I don't see why you couldn't make a run in the SEC tournament. Do you agree? I get that. I just want to make sure we have a show at Tin Roof in Nashville. We cannot lose on Wednesday of the SEC tournament. Well, I'm not as worried about that. And like I said, depending on what happens in this A&M game, that might not be a possibility even today. 859-280-2287. One person writes, Matt, shouting out politicians is embarrassing. Why do people bring that up? I mean, if you see the governor, Billy, that's cool. Like if you ran into the governor, that's interesting, isn't it? Yeah. Same if you ran into the president. Like you'd be like, hey, I ran into that person. Yeah, imagine if you saw AOC today. I did. They scored. They combined. That's right. They combined for 61 points at Team AOC. Shout out. The three-headed goat. Who's up next? Dwayne. Dwayne. Go ahead, Dwayne. Hey, Matt. Hey, what's up? Oh, not much. Just left your bar today. Thank you. I watched the game there. Got up this morning. Went to work at 4 a.m. found a couple of my friends. We went to Buffalo Trace and was like, where do you want to go now? I was like, let's go to the bar and watch the basketball game. So wait a minute. Let me hear your schedule for just a second. You went to work. What time did you go to work? 4 a.m.? I started work at 4 a this morning And then what time did you get off Got off at 10 Then straight to Buffalo Trace Straight to Buffalo Went home took a shower straight to Buffalo Trace Then to KS Bar. Took a tour. Got done there, come to KS Bar, watched the game. Shout out to Mallory from Hop Town. She was our waitress. She was excellent. and very high expectations for the game. But when it first started, Colin Chandler was playing like a dog, and I'm like, this game's going to – I was like, I'm back on track. That's a full day, by the way. I mean, it is just – it is 6 o'clock, and that is a full day. If you go from work to Buffalo Trace to KS Bar to the game, That is an absolute full day right there. Oh, it's been a day. Yeah. Well. Now I'm headed home to kind of relax for a little bit. Yeah. Well, go ahead. And just watching basketball for the evening, whatever's on tonight. All right. Well, there's some good ones. I appreciate the call. You've got Alabama, Tennessee at 630 and then Arkansas, Florida at 830. What time, Billy, is the women tomorrow? They play South Carolina here in Lexington. That's a massive game. What time is that? Is that at 2 tomorrow? I know it's mid-afternoon. It's 2 p.m. 2 p.m. In South Carolina. So, the game's sold out. It is best team. I don't know if South Carolina's the best team in the country this year, but they are the best team. Number three. Coming in to Rupp on senior night, last game of the regular season, huge opportunity for Kenny Brooks and his team to get a big win. And that should be – Memorial Coliseum should be crazy tomorrow. That should be a lot of fun. Who's next? Travis. Travis. Go ahead, Travis. Hey, what's up, Matt? Hey, man, what a great game today, man. I missed a round of 18 today just to stay at home and watch the game with my old man, bro. It was a great game. Shout out to Otega and Chandler, man. They hit my parlay. And when we're hitting 50% from three, we're a tough team to beat, man. Well, that's true. You make 50% for three, there's going to be very, very few people that are going to beat you. I agree. Just one more statement, man. You know, going down this stretch in March, man, you know, I need Moreno, you know, like I've won it all year, man. I just need him to be more aggressive on offense because when he gets in that post, man, I mean, he's a tough guy to beat, man. Well, he was going off the ball screen and attacking the rim. I think he had four different baskets where he got the ball on the block and made a move. A couple times it was just backing him down. A couple times it was good footwork. But he scored eight points on post-ups, and I don't know that he's done that all year. So I thought that was great to see. I agree, man. I need more of that the upcoming weeks, man. And go Cats, baby. Let's go. Appreciate the call. Tom Hart says he wants to come on. Billy, will you call him? You have his number? I will call him. Okay. 859-280-2287. One person writes, Matt, do you think Arkansas can win at Florida tonight? No, but I think they'll cover. It's 10.5 points. I would definitely take Arkansas to cover the 10.5. I do not think they'll win. But, you know, I say this sometimes. Cal Perry has these Cal Perry specials sometimes where, like, people, they come out of nowhere and win one of these, and then they'll lose it home to somebody bad. I could see Cal getting this one, but I don't think they'll win. I think Florida will win, but I do think Arkansas will cover. Who's next? Tom Hart. Tom Hart is on. Hello there, Tom Hart. How are you? Hi, Matt Jones. How are you? I'm doing great. So what were your thoughts on the game today, having called it there next to Dane Bradshaw? I thought the Colin Chandler coming out party is huge for this team. It just takes a lot of pressure off of the other issues that this team has had when they're not playing great. You know, I thought he played with a ton of confidence. And Dane mentioned this. Pope had told us that one of his superpowers was, you know, he has no memory. You know, he doesn't get his confidence down because he blew something or he failed at something else. I thought that was great. Do you have called more Kentucky games? I think I saw, what is this? Today was Doug Shows today became the referee who's called the most Kentucky games in history. I got to think for ESPN, you're getting up there for having called the most games play-by-play. But you were there earlier in the year, and obviously the team had some issues then, including maybe some chemistry issues. Have you seen a change since then? Well, every time it looks like there's a change for the better, then there's one step forward, two steps forward. But I mean more like off the court, like when you're around them in the pregame shoot-around and all that stuff. No, because this is not a team. The coaching staff is still new to me as opposed to when Cal was there. Okay. And, you know, I had really good relationships with a lot of the assistants and other people on staff. So I'm just not as familiar with the off-the-court stuff with these guys as I was with some of Cal's team. So I can't say that I've seen that. You know, I think that the injuries and taking some of these guys off the court has – and there's a theory, and maybe you guys have talked about this, that that has improved some of the team chemistry. because if there's two guys that don't get along and now one of them's injured and not playing, that would certainly help. And I think there's some type A's. Like, Otega always a type A. Like, he's got to be the dude. If somebody else is getting in the way, I think that that's where you get the friction. I can't really speak to that part of it. Seen a lot of teams all over the country going into the SEC tournament and into the NCAA. Do you think Kentucky can do something? I think the way they played today, and Vanderbilt's a really good team, I think the way they played today, that's an Elite 18. Because they play with a ton of confidence. They can play with different styles. Moreno seems to get better every game. But the biggest thing is great teams have multiple options, not just one guy. And as bad as O-Way played against South Carolina, hold up. You've got multiple scores and multiple guys can get things done, and I think that's huge. And I think Fiavante, rightfully so, he's fasting. It's Ramadan. He was generally a non-factor today, even though he got to the free throw line. You know, he's played better than that, and he has been in a very efficient part of this lineup. Hey, before I go, I want to give a – can I give a shout-out? Of course you can. I got a really nice note from a gentleman who wanted me to give a shout-out to his grandpa during the game, and I just couldn't make it work. So Gary Ross played high school basketball for Oddville in Harrison County, and he's a huge Kentucky fan. Wait a minute. There's a town called Oddville in Harrison County? The way I understand is it used to be Oddville High School, and that maybe it merged with another school back, you know, 70 years ago. Oddville, Kentucky. Oddville, Kentucky is, you're right, an unincorporated community in Harrison County, five miles northeast of Cynthiana. So when I was a kid, Tom, very, very young, like three years old, I lived in Cynthiana. So I did not realize that five miles from where I lived when I was a little child was Oddville. I'm not going to make a joke about how fitting it would be for you to be from Oddville, because I don't think you're odd. I'm a little bit odd, yeah. It's okay. So shout out Harrison County and Gary Ross. And I regret that I couldn't get it into the broadcast today, because I got a very nice note from his grandson, and I hope somebody sends him this and they can bring their family some joy. Yeah, that's awesome. All right, 859-280-2287. Tom, thank you very much, and are you flying home today? I'm actually driving down 75 right now. All right, well, we will see you in Nashville, all right? uh yeah and i'm on i'm on the a&m game tuesday night so see oh okay all right well by the way i did hear you throw a couple of our uh drops in we we they were you did uh you mentioned something about vocal cords so that was for us trying to think what the other ones you you had like two or three what were the other ones uh we had the chef of the bath county with the uh yes i did i I missed that one, but I heard you did that one, yeah. Yeah, well, I got a John Short shout-out when Kentucky was up 20-something biggins. Yeah. Well, those are good. There was one more. I can't remember. I think there was another. Yeah. I can't remember what it was. Well, anyway, thank you very much, Tom. We will hear you Tuesday night, all right? All right, sounds good. Appreciate it. 859-280-2287. Who's next, Billy? Let's go to Kevin. Kevin, go ahead, Kevin. Hey, Matt and Billy. What's going on? Hey, we're in West Virginia. Yes. Having this game. A wife wants to give you a big C-A-T-S. C-A-T-S. Cat, cat, cat. All right, there you go. Well, tell your wife thank you. I'm from Santa's ground. And I heard the big Bath County meat shower shout out. And we're going to have a West Virginia meat shower here in a bit. I appreciate the call. I don't think I want to know what that is. By the way, they recreated that this afternoon, Billy. Have we seen any pictures or videos from that? No. They recreated the Bath County meat shower. Apparently they were going to have dropped beef jerky from the sky. That's how they were going to recreate it? That's what I heard. Although I don't know. I haven't heard. I feel like that could still go wrong if you get, depending on how high you drop it from, but that was apparently going on today. I was highly anticipating it after you mentioned it, so I can't wait to find out. Maybe somebody there will have gotten to go. Who's up next? Let's give our Johnny Rocker personal injury attorney moneymaker of the game next, Matt. Injured, get small town compassion with Big City Results when you call the Rocker at 270-321-4429. Let's give it to the flamethrower Colin Chandler 23 points seven of ten from the field it's a career high in points he also was six of eight from three he was diving on the floor at one point making plays happen he is such an important piece on this team he is our money maker of the game that's exactly right yeah he was great tonight and he was really he's really what gave him the gap in the first half because were those threes and his opening up the floor and then Owe kind of took it home in the second half. Who's next? Dave. Dave. Go ahead, Dave. How you doing, Matt? Doing good. Good, good. I just want to tell you, you know, today's team made me feel really good about our chances. I mean, maybe we might not win it all, but I'll tell you what, this team really flamed it up, and that's a good thing. Well, I agree. I think they'll go into these March games, and I appreciate the call, outside of maybe five teams. I don't really feel good about our chances against Duke, Michigan, Arizona, UConn, and Florida. But outside of those five teams, I think in a given scenario, they could beat anybody. But they also, as Billy said, could lose to anybody, which is going to mean every game is kind of going to be on the edge of your seats. Alright, we'll take a break, come back for our final segment. Arizona is blowing Kansas off the floor. Texas leads Texas A&M 63-56. If you want a double buy in the SEC tournament, this is a good result for you, although it also, if Texas wins, leaves open the possibility we could still play on Wednesday. But it definitely opens up the possibility of a double buy if Texas wins. We'll take a break and be right back. This is the local Toyota Dealers KSR Postgame Show. Welcome back. It is the local Toyota Dealers KSR Postgame Show. One person writes, Matt. I'm with a car full of Bowling Green folks driving back from Gulf Shores. We're listening to the show on I-65. Shout out to Tony. See, I'm in a good mood. I'm reading these. You know, wouldn't always happen, but we are. One person writes, Matt, I don't like that Billy sometimes is a bummer when we have these good games. That's why I call him Billy Bummer. Tell him to be happy. This was a big win for us. I'm in a good mood. Don't get it twisted. This was a great win for the Cats. We all picked Kentucky to win, too, which was not a good omen at first. One person writes, my sister is a hostess at Carson's downtown. She saw Otega away after the game, helped him to place a to-go order, and he said he's very sad he only has two games left with Kentucky this year. That's nice. Carson's to-go for the team. I can understand that. Oh, that sounds good. Yeah, it is good. And then one person writes, Matt, But Oddville used to be known as a speed trap, and it had one store. Now you wouldn't even know it's there. Well, I do now. I did not know it was there, and I grew up, well, spent a couple years, five minutes from it. Who's next? We'll do six more and then call it a night. Let's go to Josh. Josh. Go ahead, Josh. Hey, guys. So I do not believe that Colin Chandler has gotten his roses tonight. Like, you guys have loved Colin Chandler. I led with him. I led with him. I started. He was the moneymaker player. Hang on just a second. He was the money player. Okay, pause just a second. Take a breath. He was the Johnny Rocker moneymaker player of the game. I led with him as the most important player of the game, and the show began with saying that Colin Chandler made six threes. What else would you like me to say? To be fair, I was trying to call in the whole first part of the show, and I couldn't hear it. Well, there you go. So, well, there you go. But still, still, we're not talking about him enough. Like, Colin Chandler has been the X factor for our team this entire season. We would not win these games if it wasn't for Colin Chandler. There's a small handful of games where we would not have won if it were not for Colin Chandler. I mean that true That true It also true with Otego Way and Denzel Aberdeen That why I like the AOC and three goat because I do think those three guys have basically been what made it happen Yes and I just feel like everybody talks about Owe everybody talks about Aberdeen, but Chandler just does not get his roses, you know? Well, I think he gets a lot of roses. I think he's probably the most popular player on the team. I mean, I would say there's a very good chance that – He's my favorite player. Yeah, I can tell. Well, I appreciate the call. I think Colin Chandler is – do you think he's the most – who do you think is the most popular player on the team? I mean, I guess it could be Chandler, could be Owe. Chandler's popular on Facebook. You're right about that. Maybe it could be Moreno. I'm going to say Owe. Is he from Kentucky? Because he's the best player and he came back from last year. I think it's probably Owe and Chandler. Yeah. Chandler is certainly the leader in the clubhouse for most fake Facebook stories. He's turning point. Oh, my goodness. Oh, wait. Chandler has donated his entire NIL2 and then just fill in. Turning point USA, homeless shelters, tornado relief. Very nice of him. Yeah. I mean, literally, he would be like the most charitable person in the world if everything on Facebook was true. Who's next? James. James. Go ahead, James. Five more. Hi, I'm 12 years old, and I was calling you guys because me and my grandpa were just listening to the radio, and we just found you guys, and we went to the game, and we had so much fun. It was my first basketball game. I got a question for you. Okay. Who do you think is the most valuable player on the team? All right, I'll answer that in a second, but what's your name again? James. James, and where are you from? Kentucky. I know, but like where in Kentucky do you live? Oldham County. Oldham County. All right, so let me tell you something, James. You're with your grandfather, and you went to the game. So I, when I was 12 years old, I went to U.K. games and was a U.K. fan with my grandfather. And I just want to tell you that's very cool, and I hope you enjoy every minute of that, okay? Because I look back at that, and some of my most fond memories are going to games with my grandfather. So, James, I was you 30 years ago with my grandfather, and I hope you enjoy it, okay? Okay. And now to answer your question, who do I think is the MVP? O-Way is the MVP. O-Way is the best player on the team. O-Way is my MVP. But I'm meaning MVP as the best player. But on any given game, it can be him, it can be Chandler, and then I agree with what Dane Bradshaw said. We win when Denzel Aberdeen plays well, and I think that's been the consistent thing most of the year. That is true. I think O.A. is the most valuable player, too. Yeah, I appreciate the call, James, and that's very cool that you called and went with your grandpa. I do think if you're looking for correlation between when Kentucky wins the most and when they don't, I think Aberdeen is the consistent theme. And then Chandler hitting threes. The stat that if we can limit turnovers and when Chandler gets hot from three, we can beat most anybody. Four more. Who's next? Jennifer. Jennifer. Go ahead, Jennifer. Flyback Jones, you have made my day. I am getting back home to Mount Washington, Kentucky, home of the Bullitt East Chargers. All right. And I, 48 years old, diehard UK fan, literally had a fish tank named after Tayshaun Prince and Keith Bogans. It was only my second time at a UK game. Honey, I have had a ball. Well, good. Wait a minute. Let me go back to your fish tank. Let me go to your fish tank for a second. You had a fish tank named after Tayshaun and Bogans, or were the fish named after Tayshaun and Bogans? No, listen, I had a fish tank at the time, and the fastest fish in my tank, it was Tayshaun, 21. So you called, I don't understand, but you named the fish tank Tayshaun? No, no, my fish in my tank were named after all of the players. Oh, okay, so did you have all of them or just Tayshaun and Bogans? Well, I had all of them, but you know what, that's been so long ago, I'm 48, I've kind of forgotten some of their names. Okay. So did you have a Marquise Estel fish? I mean, did I? Because guess what? My husband's a Yulevon fan. Yeah. And yes, yes. Oh, yes. Did you have a Fitch fish? Gerald Fitch. God love it. Gerald Fitch. Billy, it writes itself. Gerald Fitch. You definitely had a Gerald Fitch. Gerald Fitch, yes. Gerald Fitch. I'm telling you this. Matt Jones, you have made my absolute day, honey. This is the best day of my life. Well, thank you very much. Shout out to my husband. Hey, listen, shout out to my husband, Coach of the Mount Washington Generals, and go Bullets Chargers. And go Cats. Go Cats. I like it. Gerald Fish is a great name for a fish. Appreciate the call. Gerald Fish is a great name for a fish. Very good. All right. Since we have like three calls, we've probably got six to eight minutes. I want you, Billy, and the text machine, 772-774-5254. We're probably not going to find a better fish name for a UK player than Gerald Fish, but we need to find another one. All right. What's another good UK player fish name? All right. I'll think of one. Come on. You all can collectively make this happen, UK fans. 772-774-5254. Gerald Fish is a great name. There's got to be one. Like, what are names of fishes? Dolphin. Tuna. Tuna. That's good. All right, good. We had a player rhyme with tuna. Buna. I'm not going to be able to do this just on my head. Someone's going to get it, though. Yeah, we need Drew here. Yeah, we do need Drew. The turkey hunter was listening. Tomlin. They would be the ones. Come on. Oh, Cod. Cod Sabota. There it is. Very good. Cod Lanter. There you go. All right, so we have Gerald Fish and Cod Lanter. There's got to be more. Don't let me down, Kentucky fans. Who's next? David. David. Go ahead, David. Hey, I don't have any fish names for Kentucky fans. That's okay, David. But I do have some names. I'm going to name them the Super Chandler, but after Super Mario, because I'm playing Super Mario 2 right now. Oh, good. because he's shooting balls like Mario shoots fire. I was going to let you explain. Because Colin Chandler shoots threes like Super Mario shoots fire. Yes. And if Tom, it is hard to hear that he can reference that. Well, all right. Tom, if you're listening, you are free, according to David, to say that Chandler shoots threes like Super Mario shoots fire. Yes. All right. Thank you, David. You always make me happy. It's a little bit of a giddy postgame show. One person writes, Matt, you said 30 years. Is that your Facebook age? It's 35. All right. You don't have to get me. You don't have to. I was being like ballpark, Billy, right? Yeah, yeah. Oddville, Kentucky, by the way, the girls' state runner-up in 1928 and 1929. 100th anniversary coming. All right, I knew people would come in here with this. Patrick Sharks. I'm sorry. Nate says tuna. Oh. I'm getting some, too. Shea Gilgis Alexander. Shea Gilgis Alexander, yes. Yes. Marlon Stone. Anthony Davis. Yes. This is so stupid. It's all right. I like it. Two more. Is there a fish called an Oscar? People keep saying Oscar. I think there is. Yeah. Oh, see, I didn't know there was a fish called an Oscar. Yeah, there is. Okay, who's next? Jerry is next. Jerry, Jerry, go ahead. Patrick Sharks is good. Go ahead. The Harrison Fins. Jerry. Jerry, go ahead. It's the Harrison Fins. Jim Baster. Have we just scared Jerry off? Oh, I like this one. Calamari Williams. All right. Go to someone else. Okay. All right. Well, just Poe's on the line. Poe. Go ahead, Poe. Hey, guys. What about Anchovy Davis? That's a good one. Go ahead, Poe. That's a good one. Hope you guys are doing good. I think everybody is, and I appreciate y'all for helping spread the energy throughout Kentucky as always. Thank you. And I give you all flowers. I want to give, of course, Chandler flowers. Duke said he don't get flowers. I think he does, but he deserves extra flowers today. He played great. I agree with you. Go ahead. Okay. I just want to say, and I'll let you go, that I think Diabate is our X factor. He is like a poor man's Gilchrist. He is motor. If everybody else's motor was like his. His motor is great. His motor is his best quality, and you're exactly right. And he seems to bring it in the second half, which is huge for us because he usually is outworking guys in the second half. I completely agree with you. And the little things are really big things. They don't show up on the score sheet or, you know, the books, but, you know, they're huge. I agree. He hit one point when he shoots free throws maybe, but that's one point. Well, no, he made some free throws. I think he went four for four on back-to-back plays tonight in a time that Vandy was kind of making a run. So, yeah, I appreciate the call. Thank you. Joe Crawfish. That's good. I like Crawfish. I like it. Boy, they just keep coming in. There are a lot of – which one do you think is the best? I mean, Gerald Fish. Yeah, your natural Gerald Fish was the name of that. I like cod tacking a lot, too. I don't know. Cod tacking. Is there something called a monkfish? Yes. Because a lot of people are saying Malik monkfish. John, is there a walleye? Mm-hmm. John Walleye. Come on, you can come up here. You can get a picture, man. We're just making fish. It's not... All right, who's up next, Billy? I got one person on. I forgot their name, but they're on now. That's all right. Who's up? This person. David, John, something. Hello? Go ahead, sir. My name's Nathan. Nathan, go ahead. Nathan, yeah, okay. John Walleye, DeMarlin Cousins, call Anchovy Towns. Did you say DeMarlin? DeMarlin Ahi Murray. Did you say DeMarlin Cousins? That's a stretch. DeMarlin Cousins. Okay, gotcha. Rick Sam Ahi Bow. Bam, ah, he, bio. Okay. Yep, and Tyler Herring. Tyler Herring. Thank you very much. I'm going to finish it with Trout Noah and Anchovio Reeves. Oh, that's better. Or Preston Labaster. All right, I got to stop. I can do this all night. What an end to the show. What a great end. Thank you very much to the lady who brought that up. All right, hey, Cats with a massive victory. They get the win against Vandy now 10-6 in conference. Guarantees a winning record in the SEC. Considering we started 0-2 and we're down 9 with four minutes to go against LSU. Didn't look like we were going to get here, but we did. And now a march that hopefully, who knows, maybe something could happen. Thank you all very much. Enjoy your Saturday night. I'll be up doing Matt and Meyron in the morning, and then we'll see you on Monday. This has been the Local Toyota Dealers KSR Postgame Show. What if mind control is real?
