Summary

Kristof Leputka introduces the main season of the Inveneos Expeditions audio drama and explains the financial challenges of producing full-cast audio dramas. He announces a new Patreon platform as the primary funding and distribution model for Leviathan Audio Productions' content, offering ad-free episodes, exclusive bonus content, and community engagement.

Insights
  • Full-cast audio drama production requires 12+ months per 8-10 episodes, creating revenue gaps that advertising alone cannot sustain
  • Production costs for immersive audio dramas include voice actors, sound engineers, music composers, and visual artists—a capital-intensive model incompatible with traditional podcast ad revenue
  • Creator-owned platforms like Patreon are becoming essential infrastructure for narrative audio content, enabling direct fan funding and reducing dependency on ad networks
  • Exclusive bonus content and community features drive subscription value in competitive audio entertainment markets
  • Long-term audience retention (decade-plus listeners) validates the viability of serialized audio drama as a sustainable entertainment format

Hi everyone, this is Kristof Leputka and I hope you've enjoyed the first three prologue episodes of the Inveneos Expeditions because we're about to jump into the main season. You're about to listen to Chapter 1, The Inveneos, and 11 more episodes that follow it. And I just wanted to take the chance to sincerely thank our audience for taking the time to listen to our shows and subscribe to our podcast. I know that many of you are new to our channel, but others have been with us for over a decade, which is so mind-blowing. You know, I started the Leviathan Chronicles back in 2007, back when podcasting was still in its infancy and very few full cast audio dramas were being produced in the US. And we've come a long way since then, with three seasons of the Leviathan Chronicles, the Rapscaling Agency, and now the Inveneos Expeditions with more on the way. I'm so proud of how far we've come and excited about all the untold stories that still lie ahead that we can't wait to bring to you. But to do that, we need your help. Making fiction podcasts, especially full cast audio dramas, is really tricky, and that's primarily for two reasons. First, unlike the rest of podcasting, sometimes it can take a year or even longer just to create 8-10 episodes, which means we have long stretches of dead air in our feed, which causes listenership and ad revenue to drop. And the second is that the episodes tend to require a fair bit of capital to produce. In addition to paying our voice actors, we also hire sound engineers to create the immersive soundscapes that Leviathan is known for, and music composers to keep your heart racing during all those exciting action scenes. And there's also visual artists to create album art, marketing posters, websites, video content, and much more. And to be really honest, advertising on the show simply doesn't bring enough revenue to pay everyone and bring these stories to life. That's why we have a new Patreon page that I'm really excited to tell you about. It's the new center of the Leviathan universe, and it's the platform I've chosen to deliver our audio stories as well as some written stories and communicate directly with our best fans. You'll get ad-free episodes of the Invenos expeditions, the Leviathan Chronicles, and our whole audio and video catalog going back more than a decade. You can also check out the blueprints to the Invenos and what went into its design, and you'll see episodes like the Leviathan Orientation Program and the Blackdoor files that you won't find anywhere else. Plus soundtracks, cast interviews, behind the scenes footage, artwork, and even a little sketch comedy series called Don't Push the Moose that we only put on Patreon. We even put each season in audiobook format, which is the best for binging on long trips and again, everything comes without ads or interruptions. And even if you join us for free, you'll still get news and updates about upcoming shows that we're creating and get a say in future storylines, plus a lot more content only available on Patreon. In short, we're building a community and we'd like you to be a part of it, and your patronage is the fuel that allows the Leviathan universe to keep expanding. My dream is to keep creating audio dramas and keep telling stories, and I created Leviathan Audio Productions to bring all the excitement of a summer blockbuster movie to podcasting. We have an incredible team of artists assembled in the fields of voice, audio, and video that want to keep bringing action-focused audio dramas that feel cinematic and immersive to your headphones. I am so passionate about audio drama as an art form ever since I started podcasting back in 2007, and my goal is to make the Leviathan universe the most comprehensive, prolific audio universe that's ever been created, and I'd like your help. So please go to patreon.com slash leviathan chronicles to see what we've built and join us to see where we're going. We hope to do more seasons of both the Invenos Expeditions and the Leviathan Chronicles and a whole lot more, but we do need your help to get through the dry spots. Again, go to patreon.com slash leviathan chronicles and dive deeper into the world of Immortals, Secret Organizations, and Globe-spanning Adventures happening just beneath the surface of the world you thought you knew. Thank you again for listening, and now please enjoy the Invenos Expeditions. The war is over and both sides lost. Kingdoms were reduced to cinders and armies scattered like bones in the dust. Now the survivors claw to what's left of a broken world. Praying the darkness chooses someone else tonight, but in the shadow dark, the darkness always wins. This is old school adventuring, and it's most cruel. Your torch ticks down in real time, and when that flame dies, something else rises to finish the job. This is a brutal rules light nightmare with a story that emerges organically based on the decisions that the characters make. This is what it felt like to play RPGs in the 80s, and man, it is so good to be back. Join the Glass Cannon podcast as we plunge into the shadow dark every Thursday night at 8pm Eastern on youtube.com slash the glass cannon with the podcast version dropping the next day. See what everybody's talking about and join us in the dark. The world of Sonic the Hedgehog has been thrust into a not so dark, not so stormy, hard-boiled detective story that probably nobody saw coming. Sonic and the Intrepid Chaotix Detective Agency, as they take on their biggest case yet, this high-flying action-packed adventure will take them across the world, fighting for every clue they can find. It's one heck of a tale, which is good, because this story might be the only thing that can save their lives. Well, if that's all I can just dispose of you. Wait, what? All will be revealed in Sonic the Hedgehog presents the Chaotix Case Files. Listen now, wherever you get your podcasts.
