Hey Bible readers, I'm Miss Emily, and this is the Bible recap. Perkins! [♪ OUTRO MUSIC PLAYING [♪ Today's Bible Word! In Exodus chapter 29, verse 1, God says, This is the ceremony you must follow when you consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve me as priests. Okay Bible readers, let's review a little. Do you remember that Jacob Israel had 12 sons, and each one of those sons was the head of one of the 12 tribes of Israel? Well Moses and Aaron are descendants of Levi who was one of Jacob Israel's sons. Their tribe is called the Levites, and God has a special plan for them. They are set apart by God to be priests, the people who were in charge of the tabernacle. God gives the Levites a lot of very specific details about the very special clothes called garments that they should wear. These garments are what they wear when they go to serve God on behalf of the people. Each piece of clothing has a special job, and God gives certain people the ability to make them. The priests also have to go through a seven-day ceremony of consecration. That sounds like another word to remember. Word to remember. To consecrate means to set apart for sacred use. God sets the priests apart or consecrates them before they're allowed to do their work for him. Praise God's God. God is holy, and that is definitely a word to remember. Holy means set apart. For the Levites priests to be close to him, they have to follow a lot of instructions, but once they do, they're allowed to go near him. Today, we don't need priests to go near to God for us. Jesus is our priest, and he did the work of consecration for us. We get to be near God ourselves, and that's exactly where we want to be, because he's where the joy is.
