But overall, it was a cool event, I guess. I just, I don't know. I think the versus thing for me is kind of run its course a little bit. So this was, if I'm not mistaken, this was the first time they ever did the voting system where someone could actually win versus before it was just the court of public opinion. But they had a system where you could vote for each record. And for those that did vote French Montana one, 10 to 9. But then I also see that Rick Ross performed, I'm a star twice. Whose idea was that? He performed Devlin in a new, in a, in a, is it blue dress or new dress, new dress, right? He performed that. It's also funny that I'm not a star lost both times too. I could see if you're, you know, you get a quick win when I'm not a star. Maybe let's bring it back. Yeah, he might have felt like he, he might have felt like he didn't get before. But they did do like a little press run. I saw they sat with you, bro. I did watch that. So it's good to see Ross and French friends together doing press runs and shit. But can we finally admit that Rick Ross is weird? Why? Why do you say that? And I know this is you say finally admit like we've been like holding that in. It's like what you mean? Finally admit like we did talk about this in the beginning after the like that thing and the 20 v one started. And I know we are the Drake bias podcast, but I'm speaking from a very objective place. We didn't put enough light into how weird it was that Rick Ross entered into that rap beat. Yes, what did you have to do? Why are you in this whole thing? And then you came up with an excuse that it was because Drake didn't clear his verse for French Montana's album, which made all the sense in the world because everyone was waiting for Drake to say something in the biggest moment. And it wasn't about to be a verse he did 10 months ago. And then French Montana is sitting next to him, going like I was fine with it. So what the fuck are you doing, Rick Ross? You're finding any way to just get in this shit. And now you tell me, I want to see you win on me. Shut up. But we shut up. He's one of my favorite rappers. He's hilarious. His disography is incredible. But that's some weird. Oh, yeah, like that's super weird. Yeah, but we knew what that was in the moment though. We said that we said it was weird for him to do that. We said he was trying to capitalize on the moment. He shot a video for the song with a bunch of ballet around him like people were trying to capitalize in the moment. Like we knew what that was. We knew what that moment was. Even if it's petty reasons, I understand the Metro thing and there's women involved weekend. There's X's involved and maybe Drake fuck someone's baby mother or there's some slimy shit going on with women because that's usually how things get to this point. Rick Ross said, oh, he didn't clear a verse for French. So fuck him. I'm in this now after he gave me all my number one records. Everyone else I understood why, even if it wasn't a great reason, and I understood why the 20 v one existed in everything in the history with Drake and certain artists. Rick Ross, who's his man's just entered into that beef because he wanted to. I guess I guess I'm saying it was called out, but it wasn't highlighted enough in that whole thing of why is Rick Ross doing this? So when he gets and is talking to Ebro, what was his quote? We want to see you win on me. I'd like shut up, shut up. Well, he can't say he want to see Drake win. No, nobody can backpedal because it's a lot of that going on. I guess can't slide. I don't want to see you lose fam. Well, I think it was deep in that thing because we are not, he was on that record with French. I believe. No, the leak exists. You could use to that. You know, it's just drinking French. Oh, so if Ross wasn't on it because I really thought Ross was on that record. Even if he was, okay. Yeah, but if he was, it would help. French don't even care. I know French doesn't care, but I'm just saying if he was, we know what that's about. It helps the artist streams at the end of the year. It looks good. We knew what that whole play was about. And this is what I said when I said people need Drake. They need him. They don't stream well without him. Rappers don't stream well without hit records. And who's giving people more hits than anybody else in rap? Drake. So now when I'm not giving you the verse that I'll use to give you because I'm doing other things. They have like seven classic records together. I'm sure Drake would have wanted to continue to work with Retrox. At some point, yes. But if Ross needs it right now. On a French Montana album? Yeah, but if Ross needs a verse right now and he needs to stream this year, his numbers this year, he needs those streams. Then you can see why Rappers would feel some type of way if you're giving 21 all these verses in an album, you're giving sexy red, you're giving this person that per. And then I can't get one. You can see how some people will then show their true colors and be like. Or you explain it the way it is. I understand. But the way the part to me is during the verses, when he's doing Drake's records, or the records that they have, he has with Drake, he doesn't want to let Drake's part play. But Drake had to clear those songs to be performed at the verses, which is I don't know if people know that or not. Like Drake had to clear those songs so that they are able to be performed. Which by the way. So if he's clearing it, meaning he's like, I ain't cool, whatever. Like even after you dissed them and did all of that, Drake ain't ask soul to be like, nah, fuck that. Like you can't. Although please don't do that. What? He cleared the song. Because he performed the record. I would have too. And Drake is petty and has every right to be petty. He didn't clear that out of good faith and good love for hip hop. I didn't say that. He did that. He cleared those to show all the other rappers, you can't do a verses without the songs that I gave you. Obviously. Obviously, but then why not? That was a petty reason, not a good hard and wise. For sure, but then why not just let my hook play then? Well, no, that's also that's really why I'm highlighting this is outside of just what he said with Ebro. I thought that was corny as fuck that Ross did that based off their history and how weird it was for him to enter that back. Like I could see it. People do that if there's some real bad history there. There isn't that history. You're just weird. Like I don't want to hear that. Like the fuck did he do to you? Yeah, but that's, but a lot of that was weird in that moment. Well, we know that now looking back two years. Like we know a lot of the things that happened was weird. A lot of the things that was said was weird. A lot of things felt like it came out of nowhere. What was that for? What issue does this person have with him? Like it was a lot of that going on, but it was also a moment for people to try to capitalize and try to, you know, gain whatever they could out of the moment. Like, and we said that when he jumped in and we was like, yo, bro, like I even said it. I was like, you know, just fall back. This ain't this ain't the time for that right now. Like I remember saying like, you know, this ain't this is a this is a one on one. Like they're saying we don't really need that right now. We don't care about what that is. Like we could do that after it just didn't feel right. It felt like you was trying to get in on it and capitalize in the moment. We said that. So looking back, yeah, it's like, bro, that was just a weird, a weird moment. And rappers are weird. So I mean, it's not like a surprise there. And I didn't want to make it like a Drake. I just thought it was really odd when I saw that that clip of him saying, don't do Drake's hook. And it's like, bro, why? He cleared the record. You're weird. Have fun. It's not even a defending Drake thing. It's just an observation of how odd that looks. Very weird. But it is Iceman week. So sorry, guys, we're going to be talking about Drake like that. One of the biggest artists ever. We're going to be talking about his album. So I'm not talking about Drake until the album comes out. Well, Charlemagne did this morning. He had he had Iceman updates. I don't know if you saw that or how accurate they are. I didn't. I'm not trying to. I didn't I didn't see. I laughed at the deep breath to inhale you to use like. I didn't I didn't hear Charlemagne's Iceman update. He said Future and Carol G will be on Iceman. He said that Drake got upset that he leaked that future was going to be on the album and kicked everyone out the studio. Now nobody's allowed in the studio because Charlemagne had leaked that. Also, he said DJ Khaled. Wait, wait, wait, backup. Drake got mad that Charlemagne leaked that. So the future was on the album. And then Charlemagne was in the studio. No. Oh, my God. After he leaked that Drake kicked everyone out of the studio because maybe there was a leak in there that told Charlemagne what was going on. And here's my thing. There's a mole. I can see that for like some real specific information. It's not really a huge bombshell that someone says futures on a Drake album. I think everyone can stay in the studio. Like that wasn't some exclusive. Well, other people have alluded to no one being on the Drake album. So. And in any other album, I would say that isn't a bombshell. But on this one, it's like, oh, so there are features, right? Because there was a big rumor that there will be no features on this album. I can't see that. But I mean, he also said DJ Khaled and ASAP Rocky are going to get direct shots. I mean, he's again, not shocking to me that he's going to say SAP Rocky. Everyone can stay in the studio. Why Khaled though? Since we're being on the weirdo side of things, where I thought Rick Ross was odd. Why does Drake have a disdain for DJ Khaled? I to this day have no idea. I mean, it was kind of nuts that Khaled said I have to Drake songs before clearing them with Drake, especially at that time. Like there's a lot going on right now. I'm not going to clear those records. But is there some history that I'm not aware of of why Drake would hate DJ Khaled? Like was Khaled is he working out to not like us or something? I don't know if it's that type of energy to us like asking him to do. He does it on Titchock. I don't know if it's like maybe maybe he just mentioned the whole Khaled thing. Like that doesn't have to be a dis. It could just be him mentioning, you know, Khaled's stance through the whole thing. Or, you know, but I mean, here's the thing, I like Israel and Palestine. Khaled's usually pretty quiet about things. And because he's friends with so many people, he does kind of just play the fence and stays quiet when there is back and forth. That's fine. No, I'm not saying there's well, the Palestine part. Yes, but there's nothing wrong with that. But that's why I'd be confused why Drake would maybe have an issue with him. Because I don't remember Khaled ever saying anything or picking a side. No, it's not. He's pretty neutral all the time. That's kind of why he's had the career that he's had in a good way, because he is cool with everybody. I don't think it's picking a side. I think it's him, the timing of him announcing that he has two Drake records. There was a little. Yeah, when he when he probably didn't reach out to Drake through the whole thing. And, you know, again, the whole trying to capitalize off of Drake and use Drake. I think, you know, Drake, obviously, in that moment, he kind of felt like, you know, and Drake is known as he's known. A lot of these guys don't like him. They just need him. And he know that. I just think he got to a point during that whole 2024 where he started recognizing it and then, you know, he just he turned he turned the water off. He turned the faucet off. And you don't think Khaled like straight, though? Not saying Khaled like straight. I know Khaled to be a real good person. I also know, well, Khaled can be very self-serving too, as well. Sure. So maybe that's the presentation is very important for a long career. Yeah. And but that's maybe why in that moment, Drake was like, no, no, no, no. Now you got two Khaled features, two Khaled, two Drake songs right now. Like, yeah. No, no, no. That's not the time, sir. Again, trying to capitalize off of a moment. And I just think that that was, you know, that kind of just, you know, kind of turned Drake off a little bit from Khaled. But I don't think it's a diss like I don't think he's dissing Khaled. He may he may just mention that whole moment. And, you know, just Khaled trying to use that moment to capitalize. And he thought that probably was wack. That's all. I don't think it's a down to he's only a 10 Khaled apart. Like, I don't think it's that. Yeah. Well, I mean, Rocky replied on his album. So I think it's still fair game to keep going. She was in middle school trying to rap. You know, I think you're right with 99% of a lot of the new female rappers. But I think Lotto is in that that lot of love of sport. She love the sport. Yeah. And even still, that was an extremely long time in respects to Lotto. She doesn't she's nowhere near as big as Cardi was six years is a long. OK, so there you go. Time. There you go. It was different for Cardi. It was very different. Cardi had just won Grammy for best rap album. I understand what you're saying. But what I'm saying is Cardi had the fame to have the room. Lotto hasn't hit that pinnacle of success yet. Six years is a very long time. Like I would if she got retired, one, maybe two. But six is hard to get back after six. Now you need this one record. All you got to do is make one good record and you write back on the top of the algorithm and the top of the algorithm, but not the charts. And that I mean, is she at the top of the charts right now? And then two years from now, she's going to drop a picture on Twitter or Instagram and she write back like this is, you know, so I'm not putting too much stock into this, but I'm just saying her announcement is maybe it's because again, you know, she's having a family now. And, you know, she that's where her focus and her energy is. And music is the last thing that's, you know, on my first time mother, right? Yeah, the first one. Yeah. She not really music and recording and, you know, because people don't understand, you know, the hours that it takes being in the studio and making music and recording an album and then, you know, doing press. And that's a lot, man. And I think as a first time mother, she not thinking about none of that shit right now that that requires the energy and attention that that requires. Like she's focused on raising her family. So yeah, I understand that announcement now, but in a couple years, she may get that itch again and the sound might change a little bit. It might be a new, new female MC that comes along that just might inspire her. Like, oh, shit, show these dope. Like, no, that should go and it should be right back. But I think with the newer the newer female rappers, they're all from the south and they sound like they're from the south. I think it's a little bit different.
