Okay, let's get it. It is locked on lsu. Your team every day. I'm your host, Matt Moscone. A massive official visitor. Recruiting weekend for LSU is upon us, and the number one player in the country for 2027, Jalen Brewster, is on LSU's campus. This is massive, figuratively and literally. I want to remind you, if you you're watching this on YouTube, look at the thumbnail of this episode and that will tell you darn near everything you need to know. The photo on the thumbnail is Jaylen Brewster with Kevin Peoples, the LSU interior defensive line coach. And Jaylen Brewster makes Kevin Peoples looks like a tiny human. Here's a photo for those who are watching us on YouTube. If you're not watching, if you're listening, go check it out. This. I was a high school offensive lineman. Dudes like this are evidence why I never played beyond high school. Okay? So Jalen Brewster is the number one player in America for the class of 2027. He's 6 3, 300 pounds. He's the number one player, the number one tackle, the number one player in his state. However, he is currently committed to Texas Tech. And despite the fact that he is committed to Texas Tech and has offers from literally everybody, Oklahoma, smu, Texas, Ohio State, ls you go down the list. He's got offers from everybody. He is on LSU's campus this weekend as an official visitor. Now, I think this is so, so, so, so, so important. Okay? And I played this clip for you. If you're an everyday or you've heard it, if you're new, that's okay. We're going to play for you again and explain why this is so significant. Lane Kiffin, during spring practice was asked about Sort of how they evaluate players. And he made a comment not only about evaluating players but allocation of funds and resources and how they build their roster. And this is super relevant. With Brewster on campus, five star receiver Easton Royal on campus, I'm going to tie all this together. But again, I want to remind you here, here was Lane Kiffin talking about building this roster.

1:22

Speaker D

I challenge our guys to make sure we evaluate who they are really, really well, who is the player as they're coming out of high school because how, what is their mindset, how competitive are they? You know, because what's going to happen is most likely it's not going to go like they want in the first year and then get into your analytics of okay, well if they're going to or you're going to pay them and then they're going to leave after year one, then what did you really get out of them from a business sense versus the money going somewhere else. So I really tried to find that in tight ends. But in all of our players, who really are they in nowadays set up that it is so that they are competitive enough that this is the place they want to be at and not come into a place for a check because then all of a sudden doesn't go well, they'll get another check somewhere else and are they going to stay through some adversity, which is what they need to play through to as a good player. So obviously character was always part of the evaluation, but I've moved it a lot higher now because of the ability to leave where before you got the 17 year old, well, he was really stuck with you for four years so he had to eventually buy Henry, which just was never going to play. Now they really don't have to, they should go somewhere else.

3:46

Speaker B

Okay, so Lane Kiffin is telling you he wants character guys that are come and stay because you don't want to invest money, right, resources, financial resources into a player to get them here out of high school, have him sit and then leave after a year and then what did you get? You wasted that money. Well, it's very easy when you look at LSU's first high school signing class under Kiffin. At the top guys in the class, the positions they represent. Lamar Brown, number one player in the country, defensive lineman, edge rusher, Richard Anderson, number one interior defensive lineman in the country again, defensive tackle Cory Barber, wide receiver Deuce Geralds, defensive lineman, Bryson Martinez, offensive lineman. What does it tell you? It tells you the positions they prioritize as a staff that they're willing to spend On. Well, it's no surprise to me that the top two players in the country that are on campus this weekend for official visits, Jaylen Brewster, defensive lineman, Easton Royal, wide receiver. What positional value does Lane Kiffin, Billy Glascock in this staff place? Well, clearly defensive line receiver are at or near the top. Obviously they're going to spend a ton on quarterbacks, but look at Kiffin's history at Ole Miss transfers, look at what they did year one, three quarterback transfers coming in. So if you've got a great player, you want to retain them like Jackson Dart for three years, great. But in this instance, it's probably not going to be invest in the five star number one quarterback. Like the number one quarterback in the country out of Dunham, right down the road in, in LA from, from Baton Rouge and in Elijah Haven. They're, they're not looking at that. They're looking who can we get, grow and develop a skill set we love? And if we need to go portal, you go Portal. Well, Jalen Brewster is a guy that is committed to Texas Tech and obviously Texas Tech has deep pockets, a lot of money and Brewster is a guy and Jalen Brewster, who is, you know, from, you know, from the state of Texas, who I, I mean, I get it. It's going to be really hard to get him out of Cedar Hill when he's already committed to Texas Tech and the deep pockets they have. But clearly if LSU wants to allocate their resources on the interior defensive line, the number one player in the country is a really good spot to start. And Jalen Brewster's one LSU is going to be really competitive for and they got him on campus for an official visit. Now the other OB Lee is Easton Royal, five star number one wide receiver in America from New Orleans who's currently committed to Texas. He's taken a ton of, of unofficial visits to LSU just right up the road. Remember, he committed to Texas the day before LSU hired Lane Kiffin. Well, since they hired Lane Kiffin, LSU has put the full court press and it's obvious they're willing to spend at receiver. If you have the guy, that's a day one plug and play incoming freshman. And just like Corey Barber was who they flipped and now they certainly feel the same way about Eastern Royal. Now we talk every week on the show with Shay Dixon from on three, the Bengal Tiger. And here was Shay with the update on Easton Royal coming in this weekend.

5:02

Speaker A

Yeah, number one receiver in the entire country. And look, when you hire a guy like Ed Orgeron to just Assist in recruiting like Lane Kiffin did. It starts in Louisiana and it's going to start with players like this. I mean you look around the state a five stars committed in Ahmad Hudson here in Baton Rouge, obviously Elijah Haven's a five star. He's going to Bama. LSU's got their quarterback in Peyton Houston up in North Louisiana to Angel. They're both top 10 quarterbacks. And then the only two other. That's a lot of five stars. There's two more that are uncommitted. Albert Simeon, the O lineman. And here we go with Eastern World, the wide receiver number one in the country on Rivals. What? Number four overall player on Rivals regardless of position. So we're talking about a kid Moose that is just is a shade under six foot but he's 200 pounds and he ran a 101 7. Look, I think it was what plus maybe one and a half. But to even touch that in the rain at LHSA state track meet in the shadows of Tiger Stadium just a

8:40

couple of weeks ago.

9:49

Speaker A

This is a guy who dominates Friday nights high level football at Brother Martin and then can do that. I mean he'd be playing basketball nonstop too if you know he had the time for everything. But this is your we talk about it. Malik, Justin, Jefferson, Chase. Those guys come through Louisiana once every few years that are no doubt. Hey look, if they stay on the right track and develop NFL players and that is Eastern Royal. And I still say the, the strategic part well played by Texas because it was obviously starting to heat up that Lane was going to hire LSU is going to hire Lane Kiffin back in November. I think that went final. What was it? Music the last day of November, first day of December. He committed the 29th of November. So kudos to Texas and Sark for saying hey look my buddy's about to grab this job. Let me go ahead and do what we can to get the number one receiver in the country. Was kind of back and forth but had watched a struggling LSU offense and sold him on Arch Manning. You know all this, you know what they're doing with the program at the moment, the guys they have behind him and Easton got on board but I've still stuck with it. I think that signing day six, seven months away. Moose said this offense is putting up more than 25 points a game which they couldn't do against an FPS opponent last year. If they look anything like the offenses that they had in Oxford, a wide receiver like Eastern Royal is going to be far more attracted to that than he was the Brian Kelly or offense at least what we saw from a year ago. So this weekend massive coming in with his mom, everybody else. But look, Texas still has an official Florida's hanging around some roles trying to get really involved in. Florida's sort of backing some role on the nil front to get some elite high school guys. But I think it's an LSU Texas battle and probably Florida in mix. But I think that kind of tapers off as time goes on. But if you want to talk biggest recruits in the country that are ever going to visit LSU this cycle, proximity included, Eastern roll makes an easy case to be tied for number one on

9:51

that Easton Royal, Jalen Brewster both on campus this weekend for LSU in two position. Lane Kiffin and his staff have proven they will spend on coming out of high school. Okay, so we talked about Jalen Brewster and Easton Royal, two of the top players in the country, not only at their position, but top players overall. Now there's two other defensive players that are visiting LSU this weekend, a defensive back and an edge rusher. Let's start with Abraham Cse, a five star, one of the top edge rushers in the country who's visiting LSU this weekend. And while the Tigers may have an uphill climb to to get C, say as part of this class, here's Shay Dixon's take.

14:19

Speaker A

Yeah, he's a kid out of Pennsylvania, plays at Downington east in Downington, but a guy who a lot of people have thought Notre Dame was kind of the team maybe that was out front early on a few months back kind of as his recruitment began in the spring. Steve Wilt Fong, Sean Fitz at our Penn State site. Penn State's in it being a Pennsylvania kid. They put their picks on Notre Dame, but he said, hey, I am going to go look around at all my options. And this is a guy that Sterling Lucas, remember the like what is he the only addition, the one edition on defense, Chris Kiffin at linebacker, I guess. But yeah, Sterling Lucas came in, joins Kevin Peoples, they're coaching the D line but he was at South Carolina recruiting all of those talented edge rushers that have been through there in recent years, including Dylan Stewart. So he knows that DMV area up the coast into Pennsylvania and has been on him for a while now. So Moose, I would say this is that one where I mean he's the number two edge rusher in the country. He's a five star. He's not from this, this area. You get him in town and you just swing for the fences. And look, we've seen it before. We've seen guys from that neck of the woods come down this way. Look, even I don't remember what he was ranked at the time. But to Sean Bower was a New Jersey kid. Yeah, that was a top 5 or 10 D lineman and came down to LSU so they'll go national. But only I think if it's these type of elite players and I guess the kid who's ranked number 16 overall regardless of position and number two edge and he's six five and he's 225 and he's a junior in high school about to be a senior. So you'll go for that one. So that two five Stars. Him and eastern roll coming in this weekend, two of the four visitors being

15:12

Speaker B

five stars and that was before we knew Jalen Brewster was here. So actually three five stars. So here's the point you got to know about Csay if we give you the bio. Six, four and a half. Six, four and a half 225. He's a five star number 31 overall in the country. Regardless of position, he's one of the top edge rushers in the country so far. You look at Penn State, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Rutgers, Duke, lsu, Flor State, Nebraska, Maryland, Ohio State, South Carolina. That's where he's made his visits. He's made four official visits. The official so far, Notre Dame, Duke, now LSU and Florida State. Those are the official visits so far for Jalen Brewster. It is worth noting though, you're talking about an east coast guy from Pennsylvania who already made an unofficial to South Carolina with LSU's edge rusher coach, Sterling Lucas. Now Lucas in Baton Rouge and you heard Shay mention it, Ed on on LSU staff, amazing recruiter, defensive line coach. I know we have the respect and reputation for Ed on as an interior defensive line coach, but remember during Ed Oon's career they didn't split tackles and edge rushers. It was just the defensive line all in one. So he can coach both tackles and edge rushers. You get Ed O on turn loose on this dude and a guy who can flash a national championship ring is on staff at LSU right now. Yeah, I wouldn't put it past him. So long way to go for Abraham C. Say thought to be a Notre Dame lean at this point. But you know, Penn State, Notre Dame, Duke, lsu, all in the mix right now, Florida State. But he had visited South Carolina. Now an official visit to lsu. You never just completely X the box when a guy like that is willing to take an official visit to your campus. So we'll keep an eye on Abraham C. Say. And then the other is a defensive back in Marquez Davis, someone we talked about a week ago. But remember with LSU no longer in the running for Joshua Dobson, they have to sort of reassess what they're looking for in a defensive back. If you're not going to go after the number one player in the country at that position because you're not going to invest. Remember what Lane Kiffin said? You're talking about guys who are going to come in day one and be contributors. Well, if you're loaded already at corner, you may not have an opportunity for a day one contributor. Do you have guys you think can Come in that can wait their turn, develop and then be awesome. One guy you got to know about is Marquez Davis.

17:02

Speaker A

Our rankings team at Rivals became the first ones to rank him and they haven't gotten to see him in person. And most of his. He's Getting recruited at corner six three north of 180 coming out of Appaloosas, but out of Northwest High, which the Raiders shout out to them. I don't know if they've produced a caliber of a football player to go to LSU before. I've asked around and folks in the area said they can't remember, so certainly not in the modern era of recruiting. But this is a kid who is a thousand point score in basketball. UL and a number of other schools have offered for basketball and then flashed at receiver this past year, ran some track, did all that and that, as you said, the Corey Raymond special. The only thing missing here was he was unranked up until this past week. And then at Rivals we ranked him and how they kind of normally do it before they see a kid is they'll put a three star on him and then say, okay, let's like Corey if he's good enough for Corey Raymond, let's take a closer look at his film and dive deeper into it and put an appropriate ranking on him when the time comes. I'd rather have just been unranked through signing day. That's your ultimate Corey Raymond guy, a kid who's even even when you go to his Rivals profile, it's him in a basketball jersey. So this is your developmental type where look, they're swinging for the fences even with Josh Dobson out, they are swinging for the fences with some refined, you know, high level corners that can come in and play. And Davis would be more of a guy you develop, but that I'm not saying this like it was going to be a top 10 pick, but Mo Claiborne would be that comp. I mean he came out of Fair park in Shreveport, played every position, played every sport, wasn't ranked, ended up at three star. When you look up at the end of it and he's bumped up the rankings, he's deciding to play receiver corner. Three years later, he's the number six pick in the draft coming out of LSU at corner. So we've seen this happen before. Louisiana is one of the few states that has hidden gems like this just kind of sitting around that if you can find them and identify them and develop them, these can be Sunday football players.

19:34

Speaker B

It is so worth noting again because we talked about Dobson Prior. If you're an everyday or thank you, you know what I'm about to say. Dobson five star, number one corner in the country, had been considered a heavy LSU lean. All of a sudden very abruptly takes LSU off his list. Now is going to visit Michigan. Well, you can look to 2027 and realize D.J. pickett, P.J. woodland, Jakeem Jackson, Haven, Finney, they're all likely going to be back again. Go back to the comment we made or we played for you of Lane Kiffin at the start of the show where he's looking at high school guys that are going to come and be patient and willing to stay and wait and wait their turn. Well, when you're the number one player in the country, your position and if you come in and you're going to be the fifth guy your position and maybe not get on the field, you're not going to command as much of a dollar amount as some other schools who have an immediate need. At that position you can step on, be a plug and play starter and make top dollar. That's why. That's why a guy like Joshua Dobson is looking at other places. You have to reframe how you think about this. So if Corey Raymond looks at Marquez Davis, who is a three star out of Northwest in Louisiana and is ranked the number 1464 overall prospect, but he's 63180, that is the quintessential Corey Raymond development guy who may not be ready to step on the field 2027 and play as a freshman, but 2028, 2029? Better believe it. So a couple other names taking official visits this weekend. Now Tigers had thrown out a couple official visit offers and there's a few no shows. Shay Dixon will fill you in on those as we wrap up next. It's locked on lsu, your team every day

23:49

Speaker B

So a really impressive visitor lease. We've talked a list. We've talked about Eason Royal and Abraham Cse and Marquez Davis and Jaylen Brewster, but you're not going to get everybody obviously to come to campus and there's a few no shows and we asked Shay Dixon about that. The guys who LSU and and anticipated coming who aren't going to make the visit. Here's the list.

24:24

Speaker A

Yeah, the one guy out of Georgia, Jeremiah Culpepper, is a four star linebacker. He's not been super heavy on lsu. He's largely considered an Auburn lean. Had thought about coming in this weekend but isn't and we'll see if he doesn't move it back to another date. But I did think it was notable very early on. Amari Patterson, who's a receiver out of out of South Carolina, is a guy who's talked to LSU a good bit. Florida, South Carolina, Georgia. I mean a lot of SEC schools are recruiting him but he's visited LSU a number of times and is high on this new staff and said he was coming this weekend and now that was probably a month and a half ago. Well, in that time Moose Easton Royal scheduled his visit for this weekend and I think LSU in my opinion wisely said, hey look Amari, let's visit another weekend. If you're rolling out the red carpet right for Eastern Royal and you're doing all you can, all hands on deck, no need to have another receiver there. You've already got two committed right now for this class. Can you get a third in Easton? Can you get a fourth? And Miguel Whitley over at St. OG then you feel great about things, right? I mean the rest would be lame. Yap. So they shifted that just one wide receiver visitor this weekend and it'll be Eastern Royal and we'll see if they don't come back around to Amari Patterson at some point. But other than that, just one more guy and I say just he's a safety. He's a top five safety. But Adrian Cole, top 100 player out of Georgia who playing in Douglasville, everyone thinks he's going to sign with Kirby but again much like C say you just take your swing. He's a top five safety on rivals. He's great size, north of six foot, you know, 190 to 200, is a junior in high school, about to be a senior and Plays in a good area of talent, rich areas. So a guy that we're really high on at rivals and I know that LSU staff seems to be pretty high on him and this is one of those weekends you get guys like that in town and see if you can't just kind of grab some momentum. Maybe that can carry you into the summer.

24:43

Speaker B

Hey, we need somebody this weekend.

26:45

Speaker A

Diamond Sports, excuse me.

26:48

Speaker B

Let's go. Sorry about that. Let's go in reverse order. Talk about Adrian Cole there to start. So Cole is a safety, the number five player in New Jersey out of Douglas. He's out. I'm sorry, forgive me. He's out of. He's jersey number five. Sorry. He's a four star out of Douglasville. Georgia, 6 foot 190, the number 192 overall prospect, the 16th best safety in America. So again likely to be a Georgia lean Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss, everybody's offered him at this point. He's made 10 trips already to the University of Georgia. He's from Douglasville, so it's an easy trip. But Cole is a guy that is on campus this weekend as an official visitor. When you look at the safety position after this year, it's very look, you're losing Ty Benfield, it's very likely you're going to lose to Marcus Cooley as well. You've recruited well and there's guys like Aiden hall there at safety who are ready to maybe take a step up in 2027. But if you have an elite level player at that position who can step and be a plug and play guy, there's certainly an opportunity. LSU will make that pitch this weekend. Now Amari Patterson is the receiver Shea talked about, 6 foot 187, number 286. Nationally, he is a four star. So another guy that you keep an eye on out of South Carolina, out of Bluffton. So another guy you look at Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Nebraska got offers from everybody but a guy that LSU is interested in but is not making the visit this weekend because Easton Royal is here. And if you get Royal, basically the rest of the receiving class is moot. But that's one you want to keep in touch with in case you don't flip Royal. And then you heard Shea also mention Jeremiah culpepper out of Georgia. 61205 the linebacker Tigers still in the mix for some high level linebackers. Culpepper, number 189 in the country, again thought to be an Auburn Lane. Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Bama, lots of offers for Culpepper, but a guy that LSU may very well get to campus before this recruiting cycle is over. But a monster recruiting weekend for lsu. We'll see how it goes throughout the course of these official visits and then when we come back next week, of course we'll recap how it all went. We'll see if the Tigers may be able to pop a commitment from one of these elite level prospects.
