Summary

The episode covers major geopolitical and domestic policy developments including a US naval blockade of Iranian ports that has halted $285 million daily in exports, a proposed executive order requiring banks to collect citizenship information to combat illegal immigration, and Congressman Eric Swalwell's resignation following sexual assault allegations. Bill O'Reilly provides analysis on these events and their implications.

Insights
  • Economic pressure through port blockades can be more effective than military action in forcing negotiation, as Iran's oil storage capacity constraints create a time-limited crisis
  • Banking system access is emerging as a policy lever for immigration enforcement, with Treasury and Congressional support for citizenship verification requirements
  • Political figures face reputational damage when defending colleagues later accused of misconduct, as seen with Senator Gigerenzer's regret over defending Swalwell
  • Sanctuary city policies create direct conflicts between local and state governments over federal immigration enforcement cooperation and funding
  • Media protection of political figures can artificially extend their viability in races, with implications for electoral outcomes

Thank you, Bill. It is Wednesday, April 15th, 2026. Here's what's happening today in America. Blockade working. Banks for citizens. Swall well fall out. And Houston has a problem. That's all coming up. Then Bill is going to be here with your message of the day. But first, a senior US official says that US and Iran have all the ingredients of a deal. But if you had to come to a final agreement, the blockade of Iranian ports puts Iran in a bad spot. Iran has $285 million a day in exports. And now they don't. And their oil storage has a capacity that once it's reached, they can't pump any more oil. So you got to turn those off. And that takes months to turn back on to normal levels. So they're in a bad spot. Central Command says they have successfully blocked all vessels, traveling to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas in the first 24 hours of the blockade. More than 10,000 service members are involved, involving over 100 aircraft and 18 warships. In other international news, President Trump met with our US Ambassador to China, David Perdue, former Senator from Georgia, as they both get ready to meet with Xi in May. Our Treasury Secretary Scott Besant said that a proposed executive order that would require banks to collect citizenship information is quote, in process. He said, and I don't think it's unreasonable because why don't we have information on who's in our banking system? The draft executive order was first reported earlier in this year and would require banking institutions to request additional identification documents from customers. And this would be all in an effort to crack down on illegal immigration. Senator Tom Cotton said access to the American banking system is a privilege that should be reserved for those who respect our laws and sovereignty. When individuals are allowed to open accounts without verifying legal status, we are permitting illegal aliens to establish financial roots and integrate economically, all while bypassing the legal channels that millions use properly. Congressman Eric Swalwell has submitted his resignation letter to Congress, there were going to be expulsion hearings, if he didn't, for women accused him of sexual assault. He also is no longer in the race for California governor. He might have won that race if the Democrats and the media kept protecting him. More fallout from this Senator Geigel from Arizona, he and Swalwell were best friends. And he said his friendship clouded his judgment and he was lied to. He was, and may still, but this will hurt him in his run for a president in 2028. He said the rumors I heard was just that he was a flirty social guy. And when he asked me to defend him, I acted like a loyal friend. I did it and I regret it. I was absolutely wrong. The city of Houston passed new sanctuary city ordinances, which prohibits the police department from cooperating with ICE and officers from detaining illegal aliens based on ICE administrative warrants. The state said, if you don't reverse this, we're going to keep our state grants of $110 million. On this Wednesday, talk about heavyweight matches. The Pope versus President Trump. Spiritual power against secular authority. Henry VIII. Challenging Pope Clement way back when. You may know after reading Confronting Evil that old Hank was fond of divorcing his wives. So he demanded the Pope go along with dumping Catherine of Aragon, providing an annulment. Considering the death to us part thing, Pope Clement declined. It didn't really matter because Henry exiled the four law and Catherine and then married Anne Bolin. Years later, he executed her. The Portley King was not a man you wanted to date. Henry and Clement's tiff led to religious wars that killed hundreds of thousands, mostly peasants. Well, today we have a strife between the Vatican and Washington over Iran. Pope Leo is a turn the other cheek pacifist, the president, a confrontational opponent of evil. Both men are sincere, in my view, but their goals are miles apart. Unlike the cowards in NATO, Pope Leo is a man of conviction, but peace cannot happen when killers are allowed to run wild. That's where Donald Trump comes in. A serious conversation is needed here, not just a soundbites for TV. I hope that happens. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Why wouldn't someone in Congress push to have federal and state gasoline taxes put on a holiday? I'm sure we can delay road and climate construction. In my state, Washington, it would drop gas prices 73 cents a gallon. Number one, the feds don't have any authority over Washington state and its taxing. So your governor would have to do that. But the feds can in DC and other areas, they control, they can drop it, and they should. Absolutely should. Teresa. I think the oil companies are price gouging. A manager at one of the stations in our neighborhood told us, this is true, would you investigate? I read them that, Teresa, 15 times. Okay? Yeah, they're gouging. The American oil companies, like the insurance companies, are making record profits from the war and from natural disasters and everything like that. Because there isn't any regulation of what they are doing. Now there, the feds can step in. Department of the interior, things like that. But boy, it's terrible. But it's money. Corporations want money. Carol, concierge. Remember, President Trump never sold the concept of standing up to Iran, to voters, because he thought the conflict would be quick and easy. Few voters followed the news. Hence, they were blindsided. Okay, I think that's accurate. Everybody thinks that they're compatriots, they're peers follow the news, and they don't. They live in a bubble. In a moment, something you might not know. I'm going to tell you about the most unforgettable gift you can get, mom, this Mother's Day. Have you heard of Gold Belly? Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know. Seven years ago today, one of the most famous churches in the world nearly burned to the ground. The blaze almost destroyed a thousand years of art, architecture, and religious artifacts. Here's a story of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The church, meaning our Lady in French, was constructed in the 12th century by King Louis VII and Pope Alexander III. For the next millennia, the building was expanded with lavish galleries, stained glass windows, a mass of crypt, and numerous sanctuaries. The cathedral is the site of a lot of historical events, including the coronation of Napoleon as Emperor of France. In August 1944, the bells of Notre Dame rang for the first time in four years, symbolizing the liberation of Paris from the Nazis. On April 15, 2019, just before 6 p.m., a fire broke out beneath the wooden roof of the cathedral. The Vatican ceiling quickly engulfed in flames. It took 10 minutes for firefighters to even arrive on the scene. As the blaze spread, 500 first responders worked to stop the flames and rescue priceless religious artifacts. One hour later, the cathedral's fire collapsed to the ground. In total, 40% of the structure was damaged. According to experts, the cathedral was 30 minutes away from being completely destroyed. One week later, a team of forensic scientists determined the blaze was either started by a faulty wire or a discarded cigarette. It took three years and $1 billion to rebuild Notre Dame. The Parisian landmark reopened to the public in December 2024. And here's something else you might not know. Notre Dame is now, once again, the most visited place in Europe. I did not know that. Each year, 13 million people tour the church in the center of Paris. Second place for visitors, the Coliseum of Rome. Back in a moment. Fox News is now streaming live on Fox One.
