Nightcap Hour 1: Unc WANTS REFUND after Charles Oliveira x Max Holloway FIGHT + Borralho BEATS de Ridder + Rosas Jr DEFEATS Font + Maxx Crosby TRADED to RAVENS
61 min
•Mar 8, 20263 months agoSummary
The Nightcap hosts discuss UFC fight results from a live event, including Charles Oliveira's dominant but controversial unanimous decision win over Max Holloway in a BMF title rematch, plus other fight outcomes. The episode also covers NFL offseason moves, particularly the Ravens' acquisition of defensive end Max Crosby from the Raiders for two first-round picks.
Insights
- Fighter dominance through technical skill (grappling, takedown defense) can satisfy judges but alienate fans expecting striking-focused action, creating tension between competitive strategy and entertainment value
- High-value defensive trades (Crosby for two firsts) signal NFL teams' willingness to pay premium prices for proven impact players to address critical roster gaps
- NFL teams leaving free agents to walk without compensation (Bengals with Trey Hendricks) represents poor asset management when player value is at peak market levels
- Defensive depth and leadership at multiple levels (edge, linebacker, safety, secondary) is becoming a prerequisite for playoff contention in modern NFL
- Fighters from economically disadvantaged backgrounds demonstrate higher competitive intensity and hunger compared to those with privileged upbringings
Trends
UFC audience expectations shifting toward knockout/submission finishes over technical grappling-heavy performancesNFL defensive end market commanding premium draft capital (two first-rounders becoming standard for elite pass rushers)Ravens' defensive investment strategy focusing on acquiring established Pro Bowl-caliber players rather than developing draft picksNFL teams increasingly recognizing need for elite defensive line play to compete in playoff scenariosFree agency compensation strategy gap: some teams trading away expiring contracts for picks while others let talent walk for nothingQuarterback-centric roster building creating secondary market for defensive impact players as differentiatorsMulti-positional defensive leaders (safeties, linebackers, edge rushers) becoming franchise identity anchorsNFL draft capital consolidation: teams with multiple first-round picks gaining negotiating leverage for mid-season acquisitions

Oliveira got hurt in the first fight. I think it was 2015-2016. But Oliveira went from losing the lightweight title to winning the BMF title the following year. Oliveira entered the fight as the underdog, then landed takedowns at Will. The crowd, which had signed up for blood, both of these guys got dynamite in their hand, and both of them, I'm looking at the BMF, Ocho. I understand the objective is to win, but when you say you the baddest mofo on the paint, you got to let them hands go. That's not what we got tonight. It started booing. Oliveira didn't change the course. every time Holloway get a couple of punches on him, he get close. He couldn't stop the takedown. Oliveira take him down and basically stayed in the mounted guard or the side guard for the remainder of the round. And it was a unanimous decision. It was a boring fight. That's not what I expected. I expected to see these things let go. And both landed a couple of punches, but clearly Charles Oliveira had enough. He said, look, I'm coming to win the fight. Damn what y'all expect. I can assure you Dana White is not happy. Before I let you go, Ocho, thank you, Dana White. Thank you, UFC, for getting us the tickets to come to the nice fight. We greatly, greatly appreciate that. Can't thank you enough. Go ahead, Ocho. Obviously, listen, I was expecting a really good fight. I heard Cormier say the fans that were booing, they were casuals. How could you not appreciate the dominance that Oliveira showed, obviously, on the ground and grappling, being that's what he's best at, if not the best, one of the best in UFC right now at the ground game, you have two different fighting styles. You have two fighters. One is really good at fighting and grappling on the ground. You have one that's a phenomenal striker, one of the better strikers in the UFC, and Max Holloway. And he refused to give Max any type of leverage, any type of room to do just that. I thought Max would have had a better game plan seeing at the round one, okay, he's not going to allow me to strike. I'm going to have to be on the move every time i'm gonna have to be on my bicycle not going straight back but unleashing max is a volume puncher get a few punches out either swing to the right or swing to the left but every time he's come straight back all he does is he stay close olivera stayed close he would throw a kick and get him to react and then go low and take him down to the ground and shoot him down oh he did it five rounds straight five rounds five rounds straight it's almost like every round. God damn Max Holloway was on his back for three minutes of the goddamn round. And he couldn't get him off. He had no answer to get him off. He started the full guard. Then he went to the side guard. It really didn't matter. I think the thing is, Ocho, it's just like a lot of people thought that the BMF and you see when Holloway and guys, they throw, when Masvidal had the belt, throw hands. That's what people were expecting. Look, we understand the situation where you're not the baddest mofo. that belt means something it's a little different it's like we're in a three-point competition we end up like okay the first to 20 and we supposed to be shooting threes and you shoot layup i get it you won the game but damn that's not what the fans came to see that's not what the fans came to see also but you have to understand as a fighter what do i do best that's how i have to win that's like what you do i'm gonna do what i do best while neutralizing what you do bingo and then and And listen, he had a great game plan going into it. I'm not going. I cannot throw with you. I cannot sit in the pocket. I cannot sit at range and go blow for blow with Max. That is his strength. That's what he does extremely well. What does he not do well? Ground game. I know I win there. And Olivera is obviously the bigger man. He was huge. He was huge. He was much bigger than tonight. I would have liked to see Max. I know he wants to stand there. He wants to show that he can sit there and exchange punches and throw in volume. But he needed a different game plan tonight, especially after round one, seeing what Oliveira wanted to do as far as just taking him down and smothering most of the punches. And, I mean, listen, I'm sure those that are enthusiasts, you know, they appreciate the fight and the dominance from Oliveira. For those that were looking for a knockout and wanted to see, you know, a war, you know. Yeah, I think that's what they wanted to see Ocho. And I think the mistake that Max Holloway made, he fell into the trap that, you know what, Oliveira's going to come throw hands. The BMS, we the baddest mofos on the planet. Hey, it ain't going to be no – it's not going to go to the cards. I don't want it to go to the cards. Right, right. We decided. Right. And the thing is, I'm not so sure that he practiced defending the takedown. Right. Because it looked like he had no answer. So now he tried to like rounds four and rounds three and four. He tried it for as long as he could. But Olivera still, boom, got to be. And he couldn't. And that's the thing. Once they find out you can't stop the take, you can't snuff out the takedown, what are you going to do? And you can't get him up. He get on top of you and you can't get him up. You can't get off the ground for four minutes. I mean, each round was like three and a half, four minutes. Just ride, just ride, ride, ride, ride. I'm like, damn. And the funny thing. The lady sitting next to us like, oh, get off him. I was like, ma'am, I don't think that's going to happen. Unless you can get him up off him. And the funny thing about it, you have to understand, also, when someone's on top of you for that long, you know how much energy you're exerting trying to get him up off you. Yes. And not only that, Chris Oliveira beat Max Holloway at his game. When they were standing up for the few times they did exchange, hell he landed 79% of his punches leading up to his strikes leading up to the goddamn fourth round so he dominated not only standing up striking but he dominated him on the ground too so Max really had no answer I would have hoped for a different game plan I'm sure it's going to be a trilogy I'm sure they gotta fight they gotta fight again but Danny goes to look here man I ain't paying y'all no money to come down there and lay on the ground I come to turn the light out of the building. That's why you get the prize. You get fight of the night, and you get knockout of the night, and they get $25,000, $50,000. Because that's what the fans want to see. Man, hey, they will boo your ass. Hey, look, you could give them three, two rounds of nonstop action, Ocho. Yeah. But I tell you what, get your ass in the clench. And don't do nothing for like 10 seconds, 15 seconds. Yeah. Boo, boo. I was like, well, damn. Yeah. They just gave you 10 and a half minutes of nonstop action. But those fans want to see blood. They want to see knockouts. They want to see somebody looking up at T-Mobile, somebody looking up at UFC. That's what they want. I'm just telling you. I'm not going to say I'm Joe Rogan or Daniel Cromay, but I've been to enough of those fights. I know what the fans want to see, and they want to see blood. And what was that movie with Daniel Day-Lewis? There will be blood. There will be blood. That's what those fans want to see. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. Um, but I thought, look, Olivera, they look good. I mean, I thought it was a, um, I'm trying to think. Uh, the guy got knocked out. The brother got knocked out. I was like, damn, bro. Michael Johnson. Yeah, Ocho. I watched that fight. He got, hey, got the fake with the right. Mm-hmm. That left came out of nowhere. Boom. Yep. I mean, listen, he was. And Rodriguez made. Michael Johnson was doing really well up until that point, too. He was. He was up until that point. The Falcons was doing really well. They was up 28-3. They were doing really well until they worked. Right. And that is the thing about a fight. You can be doing really well. You can be leading round one, round five, round 10. Yeah. And then somebody throws a shot that you don't see. and it's over. You know what? At that level, when it comes to the elite, when it comes to the best of the best, obviously in the UFC and boxing as well, everybody has a puncher's chance. Yes. Everybody has a puncher's chance. Them light-ass gloves? Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. You damn near bare knuckle, to be honest. Them only four-ass gloves. Basically, yep. So basically, you got an isotone on your hand. That's basically. And so when you hear something, like I'm saying, man, you hear no boy in the jaw? Yeah. Just like the dude, that was one punch. Rodriguez went straight down the pipe. Bow. He was done. Dude switched to southpaw. And as soon as he switched to southpaw, shock up. It was a wrap. It was a wrap. And he was looking, and he ain't even hit him again, Ocho. He could have. Yeah. Because you see a lot of times, they hit him, and then they come with a big boom. He's like, nah, I'm good. I'm going to let you live to see another day. But just know, I had something for you. Yeah. I mean, that's messed up. And you got to be careful, too. All that switching stances, when you do that, if you're comfortable at one stance, you know where you're vulnerable. If you're going to switch to Southpaw or you're doing unorthodox, you got to know where your weaknesses are. Yes. You don't have to. And obviously, switching like that, I know it's cool to be able to do it. But you got to understand. It looks like you had a disadvantage in certain areas. And the thing is, if you're not used to, first of all, there are very few men that fight orthodox can jump into a Southpaw stand. You not Bud Crawford. Yeah. There are very few. Stay in your orthodox and make that work. So what you did, you left it, you made yourself vulnerable. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm like, bro. Yeah, it's crazy. It's crazy. But I was, I am not gonna lie, Ocho, considering because even the fight before that, that was action. I mean, nobody got knocked out or got submitted, but there was action. Yeah, they were going. And I was like, oh, man, Oliveira, Holloway? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Somebody. Hey, you thought you were going to get something nice, huh? Fireworks? So, hey, the doctor's coming in the ring and somebody's going to put ice on somebody back. You all right. You know where you are. They're going to be asking a bunch of questions. That's what I was expecting in the Holloway-Oliveira fight. Yeah. We didn't get that. Nah. Congratulations, Oliveira. or he won the fight. I'm not, look, when you go back, if you study fighting, most great fighters came from very impoverished conditions. You look at those Brazilians, they come from the favela. Oh yeah, oh yeah. You look at a guy like Conor McGregor, he from the streets of Ireland. You look at the Russians, they ain't getting no college scholarship. They got to fight. And so when you come up having to fight, you know how to fight. Yes, sir. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, but for the most part, when you look at fighters, boxers, UFC, whatever the case may be, look at their background. Yeah. I guarantee you, they ain't come from no silver spoon. You know what's funny, and it's not just UFC. You think about football. Everyone has a story. Everyone has a background. Yes. Most of them, depending on a high percentage, soccer players. I mean, basketball. That's our ticket out. That is our way out. Yeah. Ain't too many two-car, three-car, four-car garage. He was in a fight? Yeah. Very small. No, no, no. You ain't getting in that sport. That ain't no sport if you had a nice cushy life that you get into. Right. Unless you just got the love fighting. I don't love it that much. Not with no four-car garage. I'm going up. I don't love it that much. A three-car? Hell, a single-car garage. Somebody Hey garage Park that damn car put in a shade tree Get out walk in the house It wasn't no garage You ever been to Brazil You ever been to the Fabellas I have not been to the Fabellas I've seen You know obviously seen documentaries Of it and see how it was And they tell the story How Michael Jackson wanted to film They don't really know about it They don't really care about us Yeah. I think that was the name of the song. Yeah. And and the government wouldn't you couldn't get clearance. He had to get permission. He had to get permission from the date. Yeah. We got it. Yeah. Ain't nobody. Hey, nobody. He was the safest man. He was the safest man in Brazil. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. But like I said, you look at you look at Khabib and you look at the Dagestan from Russia and you look at these. Hey bro, when you got a, you got a, a, a, a, a, empty stomach or empty bag pocket and a broken heart you fight your ass off Yeah You fight your ass off But like I said I know I would have expected Olivera put on the clinic Ocho, I know you want to see us throw for 500 yards, but they can't stop the run. There you go. That's what I tell them all the time. Bro, I promise you, if y'all stop TD, we'll throw the ball. Mm-hmm. But if you don't stop TD, he getting five, six, seven yards of carry. what's the incentive that we have to throw it? When you can't stop we can just turn around and hand it to him and he getting 15, 20 yards a clip so what's the incentive for us to drop back and throw it where your ball might get tipped somebody might miss a protection and get John hit in the back of the head now also tonight for those that are watching, those that wanted to see fireworks, the only way we would have gotten fireworks if Max Holloway had a counter for being taken down if you were able to stop being taken down then we can make it a fight where we gotta stand up now we got the throw but he had no answer for it well the thing is he's gotta be able to snuff the takedown once he couldn't snuff that so what was his counter he couldn't get off the ground he couldn't get off his back once Olivera got him on the mat he could not get up for the rest of the fight so if he took him down with three and a half minutes he took him down with four minutes the fight stay on the mat for the final three and a half, four minutes. The whole time, yeah. I'm sure that's not how he wanted it to end. I can assure you probably Max Holloway would probably prefer to be knocked out than to have it end like this. Like this? Probably so. Either that or submit it. But hell. Yeah. I thought he tried. I thought he had it in the first. He couldn't get it deep enough. Yeah, his defense was very good. His defense on the ground was very good. You know, he took a few shots on the ground, but as far as being, you know, being able to maneuver and using his hands really well to make sure he wasn't submitted. He was he did. He was I mean, he did it really well. And it is for one for us to be saying what we wanted to see. But actually being in there and having a fight is two different things. It's two different things, you know, when you're under fire. So us saying this is what you should have done, you know, but. Yes, I mean, because we. in here. Ocho, what do fans say when they lose a game? You should have been running it. You should have blitzed. You should have did this. It's easy to say that after the fight. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, man. Give Olivera's credit. He the BMF. And so it's going to be interesting to see what's next on his card. I was just going to ask you that. What's next? so he's in 155 so that's what lightweight what does Ilya fight at to poor Ilya might be 155 that'd be a good one hey he definitely got dynamite in his hands he definitely got dynamite in his hands yeah that'd be a good one as long as he got it I'm sure Ilya I don't know much about Ilya's style and what he does I mean is he good at the ground game that I know he can strike. I ain't never seen him. I think, didn't Elia knock, hold on, somebody knocked Oliveira out. Who knocked him out? Somebody knocked him out. Was it Volko? No, Elia can fight. He let them hands go. I was hoping, you know what I was hoping for? I was hoping for a chat, Ocho. I was hoping for, you know, Max Holloway and Olivera because he said if you call me to Olivera said if you call me to the center I'm going to come and we're going to let these hands fly so I was hoping well hold on he called him to the center with 20 seconds of going to goddamn fight he let him get up obviously when they got off the ground he caught him again Olivera caught him again yeah Elia knocked out Olivera Jose, they fought already. Okay, okay. I know somebody had knocked him out. I mean, he got hands. No, he really, really, really, really got hands. Oh, yeah. But I'm trying to think who is the fight that people want to see. I mean, they introduced a card that's going to be at the White House that's going to fight on June 14th. I don't know what it's called. America 250 is the celebrating anniversary of a... I'm not sure. I'm not sure what they're going to call this card. I know it's the celebration of America's birthday of 250 years, but it's going to be Gaethje and Tempur fight. That's the main event, right? That's the main event. Piera and Cyril Ghan fight. They got a nice card. I was hoping to see Jon Jones on there. It's too late, huh? Yeah, it's true. They don't set the card now. Damn. They don't set the card. I think the thing is, plus, the last thing you want to have happen is something, you know, they sent Johnny and then Johnny F'd the card up. Right, right. I think Dana's like, you know what, let's go with the sure thing. We know these guys are going to be where they're supposed to be and do it. culture of motor racing's most coveted series. Cairo Bolaho won every round when he fought the Ritter tonight. Now he wants the plessy the plessy yo he did call the plessy out i couldn't understand i couldn't understand hey dude throw hard too man he was bad that was throwing i was like damn i mean he was i mean every punch he throws he throws with the intent of knocking somebody out yeah every every last one of them and he like he's a big dude because uh as we were leaving He was in the hallway. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I understand he may wait at, what, 185 and 186, but after refuel, he probably 195, close to two. Easy. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. But I mean, look, I think the thing is we kind of get spoiled because there's something about a knockout. It's like boxing. Now, if you give me 10 rounds, 12 rounds of nonstop action, I can live with that. But, man, that's... Mm-hmm. Don't punch his clinching in boxing. Yeah, all that. You clinch again, and nah. The men's battle weight, Raul Rojas Jr. defeated Rob Font by unanimous decision. The 21-year-old Rojas was dominant, recording six takedowns on his way to the biggest victory in his young career. The matchup was a big step up in competition for the youngest fighter in the UFC has ever signed. He's likely to be ranked, come back Monday, and took another positive step toward his goal of breaking John Jones' record as the youngest champion in UFC history. If I'm not mistaken, I think John was, what, 21? He looked good. He looked good. I mean, he just, I'm like, bro. I mean, but Rojas was big. That man tall as hell. Yeah, very tall. Hell yeah. He a big ass lightweight, a battleweight. Damn. I mean, he tall, Locho. Poe font. I was like, damn. Oh, John Jones was 23 years, 243 days old. but hey John is the truth man man hey he's the truth I would love that that would have been the White House card is already stacked it's already nice everybody's just having John Joe as a part of that White House card I think it would have been special but here's the thing who was he going to fight he wanted to fight Piedra who's fighting Cyril Ghosn right I think the thing that they wanted to have happen at an earlier time was him fighting – what's the – the guy that got hurt end up – he got his eye gouted out and – I forget his name. But that's the guy they wanted. That's what – that's the fight that Dana wanted them to have. Oh, Tom Aspinall. Tom Aspinall. That's the fight that – but then when you look at it and you look at how he was fighting against, and Jon Jones like, is that the guy that y'all thought could beat me? Did y'all see how I ran through him? Yeah. And y'all thought that guy could beat me. Piotr, I mean, bro, a three division champ, something they've never had. But he big, man, dog. I mean, he, I mean. What's your name, what's your name, they weight, what, two something? Well, I mean, 185, 205, and you can't be more than 265 as a heavyweight. Okay. So, I mean, for him to get down to 185, he was killing himself to get down to 185 because he's a big man. He's a big man. Would I be surprised that he walked around at 220? Nope, I wouldn't. I would not be surprised if he walked around at 220 it's going to be an interesting fight Garn is getting better you going to the White House card? I don't know man you know everything is going to be so damn expensive in DC but hold on wait a minute man not for you you just went to the fight tonight the fight ain't at the hotel the whole divided at the flights i mean a flight to dc that ain't but what but you can get a flight for like a hundred fifty dollars okay i don't know they didn't get your ticket so boom that that that knocks everything out them hotels man them hotels man they they rake you over the coals you never tried extended stay you ever been there before yeah extended stay got kitchen refrigerator i want my kitchen to be uh i want my kitchen to be downstairs and to bring it up to my room that's what i want that's why i want my kitchen i'm just trying to get you places that's very that's inexpensive you know quick or maybe an airbnb you probably you'd get off cheap with that no i don't want to be i don't want to sleep in nobody else house I don't. I don't. Oh, yeah. Lightweight Drew Dober defeated Michael Johnson via KO punch 153 of round two. Gregory Rodriguez defeated Bruno Fiatta via knockout. One punch, 147, round one. I just think the thing is like the UFC has gotten people spoiled so much because you know dynamite good things normally happen Ocho. Somebody normally goes to sleep. Somebody get choked out, you know, rear naked, guillotine, arm bar. Something, submit, something happens that you're like, damn. That must have been pretty bad. You made somebody tap out, made somebody call you uncle. Because I would tap out and say uncle, call me uncle, and I'll let you go. But also, you know what else people have to remember too? When it comes to better fighters, when it comes to the fighters that are a little bit more skilled, a little bit more technical, you know, the margin for error is very small. Yes. You can get slept or you can get submitted so that most of the time they're very careful on when they take their chances and that they're safe. I mean, tonight you saw in the last fight, you know what? I'm going to play it safe. I'm going to do what he doesn't do well. I'm going to take the crown and that's how I'm going to win the fight, whether people boo or not. That was Olivera's plan. Yes, it was. and you want me to change it? Make me change it. But why change it when it's working? Like I said, he came to win. I know what the BMF stand for. You slug it out and guys that have held that belt, they slugged it out and knocked somebody out. But that was not Charles Oliveira's plan. His plan was to take as little punishment as possible, take it to the mat, and knowing Holloway, that's not what Holloway is good at, getting off his back and getting back to the center of the ring. that wasn't what he was good at and it showed tonight he was shut out I wouldn't have had him winning one round not one he got dominated for five rounds yeah and I was like and even the last round he ended up getting guard and somehow what you call him ended up taking it right back yeah even when they got back up they got back up he took him right back down yeah probably most interesting fight of the preliminary card with Kobe Gabhart against Zhao Young via unanimous decision. Gabhart ate several low blows in round three. The second one literally vomited in a bucket before the point was deducted from his opponent. Zhao Long lost another point when he landed the knee in the clinch below the belt soon after. I mean. Man, he was killing that man, man. And the thing you all sort of reaction on his face, he's like, yeah, you did that, bro. I'm sorry, you got it. You got it. Yes, he got to be more. I'm talking about one of them, he got him straight with his toe. I'm talking about, you know, normally try to kick with the side because you don't want to break the toe. Yeah, he can kick right. I'm like, oh my goodness. Yeah. And you know, they give you five minutes and he was like obviously you don't want to take that because people like oh it ain't take that long it didn hurt that bad you ain never been hit there yeah if you if you have never been hit in your private Yeah Oh it hurt It hurt now Let a kick What? Man, stop playing. It hurt. Man, you feel like you look, you can't breathe. Somebody got a bag over your head. And every time you try to take a breath, they put another bag over your head. Man, that thing hurts so bad. Yes, it does. but we had fun i had fun i had fun tonight got an opportunity uh i was in lounge for the i got there too early we got there too early i got it i got i got to do a better job timing it you said you was there for a long time before the fight even started huh no no no no i got i thought i was i thought we was getting i was like okay we get there next time i ain't leaving my house till about seven I want to see the last I want to see the last four fights that's it so you was early like we was for the Bud and Canelo fight yeah not quite that early yeah we were early that boy yeah man never again never no more as a matter of fact I might be arriving Bud might need them walking to the ring I'm going to be walking in when they walking to the ring oh joe what'd you do tonight oh man but you know i'm back in houston again what man i'm back in houston again man listen a certain individual i don't want to say the names chat y'all stay with me real quick a certain individual called me um you know not panicking but hoping i could do them a favor okay i say well cool i could do you a favor so i asked what you need me to do he say i need you to be an efficient to my wedding did i say that right an official efficient tent efficient to my wedding i don't know what an efficient is efficient okay there it is oh yeah yeah that okay an efficient i'm sorry i'm sorry yeah so you're gonna official you're gonna officiate the wedding i was officiating the wedding so i said of course I come down. The Ravens acquired Max Crosby from the Raiders in exchange for two first-round picks, one in 2026, the 14th pick in 2026, and a first-round pick in 2027. Crosby, 28, a five-time Pro Bowler, will be a game-changer for the Ravens. He has 69 and a half sacks since 2019. It's more than double that anyone has produced for Baltimore over that span. Nande Matabouic leads the Ravens with 30 sacks since 2019. Ocho, do you believe this makes the Ravens contenders? You know what? I want you to look back to, I don't have the stats in front of me. When it comes to the Baltimore Ravens defense, since Lamar has gotten there, they've had some very good defenses. They've had some very good defenses. They've been normally ranked high with the addition of Matt Crosby. He does improve them defensively. Yes, he does. Does it make them contenders? I can't say because I think the onus in them being contenders is really based on what Lamar Jackson does in the postseason. I think because they've had great defense before and offensively, they sputtered when it mattered most, you know, as collectively. Yes. Sometimes. Don't mention that. Let's not let's not talk about that. Let's let's let's focus on the defense. OK, I want the chat jumping in there. Talk about we jumping on this right here. Let's talk about the defense. Right. Crosby. A lot of teams were stepping up. You know, you hear first, some teams were off in the first and a second, maybe a first, a second, and another pick. Maybe the first this year and the second and a later round pick. But it was the Ravens. And the thing is, like, hold on. We saw Micah with two first rounders and a player. Yes. How do you want him or don't you? Yeah, but Micah's a little bit younger now. Not a little bit, maybe a lot. A lot bit. 26 to 28. Okay. I mean, hey, that means a lot, especially when it comes to business, especially when it comes to picks, especially when it comes to money. Oh, you know how to own this thing. Yes, I do. To us, oh, what's two years? But to them, it's a lot because they think about miles, wear and tear, all this stuff. But Max Crosby brings something that the Ravens need very badly. I like him. Especially on the defensive end of the ball. and now I feel bad for my quarterback because my quarterback he has to deal with hold on now twice a year he got to deal with Myles Garrett twice a year he has to deal with T.J. Watt yep now you bring this animal one of the better defensive players in the NFL one of the better defensive ends in the NFL to the goddamn Ravens now you got to deal with like come on man come on I think the thing that I like so much about Max Crosby is that he's a two-way player. He plays the run and he plays the pass. Yes. He kind of reminds me. Now, he doesn't rush the quarterback like this guy does, but I think he played the run better than this guy did. Jared Allen. Remember Jared Allen? Started with Kansas City and then he goes to Minnesota. Minnesota, Mr. Calf Roping. Mr. Calf Roping on every sack. He kind of reminds me of him. Right. But he plays the run better than Allen. But he can't get after the quarterback Allen was. People don't – Allen can just flat out get after your quarterback. Yeah. Yeah, I'm excited. I'm excited for the Ravens. This is going to be good for them. So, I don't know. I don't know what you guys are doing. Help me understand, you guys. Okay. You had Trey Hendricks. Somebody said, you know what, they tried to make a trade for him last year. You hold on to him. Yeah. Now you let him go for it and say you get nothing. Nothing for him. Yeah. What sense does that make, Ocho? If you know you're not going to sign him back, Ocho, you've got to let him go. I've got to trade you and get something for you. Yeah, while there's value there. Yes! You let the man walk, and his value wasn't going to get any higher. He's coming off back-to-back 17 and a half sacks. Back-to-back. He's all pro. So his value is not going to get any higher. you know you're not about to give this man three four years at 100 plus million dollars that's not that's not what you guys do right especially at the age of 30 31 that's not what you do cincinnati but you let it walk out the door and now you get nothing for it yeah that's crazy that's great i don't understand i've been and i don't want to rush the judgment just yet draft is coming all season acquisitions you know trades still are going to be made so i'm curious to see what moves That ain't what y'all do, Ocho. When's the last time the Bengals traded? Hey, listen. Hey, number nine put that pressure on. Yes. It's not about what we've never done. It's about what we need to do because number nine already sent that message out loud and clear last year. Loud and clear. I know. But I tell you what. You know the Browns, Katie Blackburn, as well as anybody. They do what the hell they want to do. They do. They do. But also what they've never had is they've never had a quarterback that's this young who comes from winning. Everywhere he's been, he's done one thing, and he's won. And he wants to make sure that winning is the same exact thing that they want to do in Cincinnati. No, they want to make money. You need to continue to make certain moves that aligns exactly with what Joe Burrow believes in. the bingos want to make money yeah yeah i think i think look let me ask my thing is if i can make money by spending as little as possible i choose that yeah you gotta spend money to be competitive yeah you do you just do you do because guess what the other teams around you are spending money and it's already hard to get people you got to pay to get someone to come to you in free agency you've got to overpay because to get them to leave that situation that they're currently in where they built up they built they're probably ingratiating themselves in the community you know the wife is probably there the kids are there so things are you know you you already ingratiated yourself in that surrounding so to get me to leave that and to uproot my family, you're going to have to pay a premium. And, infrangeously, everybody knows you're going to have to overpay. You just do. That's why, why you think a beer costs $40 at a damn game? Where else you going to get it from? You can't run to the local corner store or the package shop and get it. You want a beer to watch the game? Okay, well pay $40. damn so in free agency these guys know well if you want me to come you got to pay because guess what if you don't write down the road will yeah absolutely we need help bad though you do over the last five years Baltimore has blown an NFL worst 16 leads in the final five minutes of game that's five more than any other team last season, the Ravens failed to hold two double-digit leads in the fourth quarter. Remember? Buffalo and New England. Yes. Now, one, look, that one against New England with Derrick Henry's running the football and all of a sudden, you know, we got a system in place. You know, Derrick, it was the other... They took him out, stopped handing the ball all to him. I don't know what that was about. Still don't make any sense to me. Makes no sense to me at all. But, hey, what do we know, Ocho? What do we know? And then, lo and behold, they go out there and then they play Green Bay. And they just hand the ball to him and he just runs wild. Went crazy. The second leading rusher. Think about this. The second leading rusher. Wow. When you try to – that's what you do, Ocho. You go double tight and you say, guess what? In the four-minute drill, y'all not getting the ball back. All right, D, hey, this is why we got you. And you go put a scat back in there and you got a 250-pound bulldozer? Yeah. That nobody, hold on, a 250-pound bulldozer that nobody wants to tackle. No. Once he gets those pads going north, man, it's hell to deal with. Don't nobody want none of that. I don't get it. Like I said, everything is not for me to get, Chad. But I think the thing is, Chad, I don't think you guys got it either. I don't want to hear nothing because I'm trying to win a game. Sometimes when you're trying to win a game, you're like, okay, I know how it's supposed to go. I know it's supposed to be your time up, but your time will come next week. But it ain't going to come now. Because Derrick Henry is going to get this ball. That's who's going to get the ball. And that's why we tore his contract up and gave him more. Coming off the first season that he had here, he had over 1,900 yards. And he came back this year and almost had 1 So Derrick Henry had plenty of tread on the tire I ain worried about it Look here I don care if you don play but another year I'm going to run Derrick Henry, and he's going to keep the clock moving. Y'all not getting the ball back, Patriots. And if you do get it back, you're going to have so little time, you ain't going to be able to do ish with it. So hopefully they don't run into that problem again. But I like the move. I like this move that the Ravens says, look they're making a commitment to Lamar they're going to give him big time money he'll be the highest paid quarterback in the NFL I don't think they're done the Ravens, if you go back and study the Ravens they normally have success when they go get a player, if you look at for instance, now this is a trade you might look at this a little different But if you go back and study them, 99, they're going to get, what, 90? I think it's 98, 99. They're going to get Michael McQuarrie and Rod Wilson. In 2000, they're going to get me and Sam Adams. And then you see, you get Derek Mason. You get Anquan Bolden. You get Steve Smith. You see the success that they have? If the Ravens come get you, they've done their homework and they know. And the thing that I love that I love most about them, be who you are. We don't need you to come here. We already know what we get. Right. Be that. You talk ish, talk ish. If you're quiet, stay quiet. All we want you to do is play hard. That's it. Yeah. That's it. And, you know, everyone that they've went and gotten has had success. Everyone they've gotten. And, listen, going to get max, they're going to have success. Roquan, remember they made the trade for Ro? Yeah. Yeah, they, they, they, I said they need to impact players. You got one at each level. Now, Nate Wiggins, he's going to improve from last year. I sure hope so. He's going to improve from last year. I believe in him. I like young bull. He's nice. You got Roquan and now you have an impact player on your line. So you got, you got, Oh, I didn't even mention Kyle Hamilton. I didn't even mention Kyle Hamilton. The best, the best safety in the game right now. So you kind of set defensively with leaders at each level. Well, if Matabuik can come back and play at the level that we're used to seeing him play at, and you got Crosby, I still would like, hey, I'm going to boast. I'm going to try to get me a corner. I don't know what's going to happen with Marlon Humphrey. I don't know if he's aligned for a restructure. I don't know if he's aligned to get released. I don't know what's going to – but they need corners. They need corners. And I hope you're right. I just hope you're right that Nate Wiggins is going to get better. Yeah. Because all I know, their two corners are top five in yards allowed. Well, hell, Unc, if you got them having to cover for 20 seconds, shoot, me and you would be in the top five of yards allowed too. You know? So they got some help. They got some help because Max got a moat on him, boy. oh yeah man oh yeah but I think if I'm the Ravens look and I know Eric DaCosta is running this but don't think I still don't have a presence in that building because he does but when you look they need a receiver I told you you better go get a right guard too I told you who's going there who? Steph gonna end up in Baltimore man listen we was on the show I don't know a few episodes ago I said Max Crosby was coming to the Ravens like every time I say a player is going somewhere it happens I'm gonna say it here and people might not like it huh AJ Brown is gonna end up with the New England Patriots I'm telling you ahead of time I just don't look I like Steph, but Ocho, they need more. They don't need another possession receiver. They need a stud. Go get you a stud. Hold on, Unc. All the studs are taken. No disrespect. All the studs are taken. What stud can you go and get that's going to come in and change everything right away? I think there will be some receivers available that will give them more bang for their buck than Stephon. That's all I'm saying. Unc, you know Stephon just coming off a thousand yard season, huh? no I don't think he had quite a thousand but oh he had a thousand huh he had a thousand yeah I just don't know Ocho I just think you could do better okay okay I'm just I'm looking at the landscape of what's available you said a stud all the studs are number ones they not available who's gonna come in there and just instantly yeah yeah 85 catches is a thousand 13 yards and four touchdowns. Yeah. And you know, you know, over there in the wing is by committee. Every week is a different receiver. You never know who it's going to be. Well, I think the thing is, I mean, I think the Patriots are trying to get a first round pick for AJ. And I don't know. I don't know if they're going to be able to get that. And they're going to probably have to get set up for a second. What you thinking? AJ is worthy of a first-round pick on. AJ Brown and what he's going to bring to your team and how he's going to help them offensively and what he can do. He can stretch the field when need be. He can run short routes. He can run intermediate routes. He's hell to deal with. you have a great running game he's worth that first round pick that that's just me you got that you got to have a stud you can't you can't do it what you have right now i i think the thing is that okay where who new england because okay they got so that'd be AJ would be one and then you got Booty Booty is Matt Collins Douglas Douglas that'd be a nice little squad Matt how old is AJ Oh That's a good way. I'm not sure Because you know you start pushing that 30 the price start dropping quick. Oh, yeah, yeah They don't play on play about that. They don't man play about that They like man like I'm like damn 30 mm-hmm Now you have to play guys take better care of themselves now they're they're more conditioned guys I mean, you might have to readjust that. You might have to look at, say, like 33, 35, Ocho. Yeah, yeah. I mean, he's 28. He's 28. 28? Okay. But no, no, he good, didn't she? Yeah, he good. Here's Max Crosby's goodbye to the Raiders. Ever since I've been here, man, I've had one goal and one mission that's become the best version of myself and help bring a championship back to the Raider organization. And I feel like I left, you know, everything I had on the table for this team. I've given my heart and soul. And I feel like I let y'all down, man. Ever since day one, I've wanted to create and build a winner with the Raiders. I like that. When you think about when you think about the Las Vegas Raiders, I mean, they are Mac Crosby. Max Crosby is their identity. He has been since he showed up. He always has been, and he said it just right. He left it all out on the field. He did. He gave everything he has with his play. Forget the words that he just said. He showed it with his play week in and week out. But again, it's a team game. Yes. So he can't do it by himself. No. He is the perfect Raider. he was the perfect Raider Al would have loved him he's definitely Al's type of a guy but they don't have anything now it's being reported that they have 100 plus million dollars in cap space and two first round picks this year remember they traded Jacoby Myers so I don't know what they got from Jacksonville what they get a third or a fourth for Jacoby Myers okay I can't remember exactly but they they can make some good moves whatever move they they they got to be the right moves not just any moves they got to be what he got it got to be franchise changing altering moves yeah guys we know max wanted out it's being reported but everybody talking about y'all just keep trying to put word the man said he was he supposed to say but insiders that had spoken to max crosby said he said he was done yeah but like like oh he said this he said that what is he supposed to say when he's currently still on the roster the last thing i'm gonna have y'all do is to try to void my contract or to try to get me for conduct detrimental to the team of course i'm going to say all the right things. Privately, I've let it be known I want to be dealt. I mean, and Clint played it perfectly. I've had a conversation with Max. Clearly, we want him here. But we want those two first-round picks for him, though. Absolutely. So I don't have a problem with it. If you want to win, now, they could turn the thing around quickly. Our lot of Houston Texans. It's not that you have those picks. Who do you select with those picks? Well, if you get you a CJ Stroud or you get you a Will Anderson Jr., you get you a Nico Collins, you start drafting guys like that, it won't take you long. At all. It won't take you long. Now, you mess around and get you a Trey Lance. Yeah. Hey, We know where the first pick is going. They're not trading back out of that. They're not giving that to anybody else. It's going to be Mendoza. What do they got? So they got 1 and 14. Mendoza. And I got the next round. If there's somebody that you love, Ocho, hey, you got all those picks, man. Hey, get good. Yeah. You need some receivers. He going to need somebody to throw the ball to Ocho. He going to need somebody to throw the damn ball to. Well, you know what I've said. but who I wanted to go to Vegas I don't want to pick I don't want to piss off my cowboy fans you know I love y'all but you know hey and you know I have a question hey chat do you see any scenario right think about this it could be crazy could you see any scenario pick going to the Raiders maybe CD going to the Raiders or just those two not being together in Dallas? Do you see any scenario where that can happen? No. Chad, what do you think? I think Jerry loves CD. Right, right. He was the one that's recommended. He wanted CD. CD wanted DeAndre Hopkins. He wanted 10. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He was a D-Hop fan. It was Jerry said, nah, nah, we really want you to have 88. Right, right. Because that signifies Drew Pearson and DeAndre Bryant and now you. Yeah. I just, you know how this business is. You know how this business is. So I've been thinking about the scenarios that can happen and most of the time they'll pull the wool over your eyes and do something strange that it might not make sense to us but it makes sense to them because they're thinking long term. Not now. Oh Joe, the biggest reaction of the trade came from Jamar Chase. Let's listen to what Chase had to say. Joe just fucking texted me. Ravens traded for Max Crosby. No fucking shit. No fucking shit. No fucking shit, brother. I'm fucking highly pissed right now. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Fucking. How the fuck do we let this nigga go to the fucking division? Oh my god Bro why the fuck did we let this nigga go to the division Oh Oh my god And Jamar Chase's reaction alone Let you know Who Crosby is Yeah Respect he has from other players Oh Joe you remember we had him on the show at the Super Bowl? Yeah. He said, Jeffrey Simmons and Max Crosby. Max Crosby, yeah. He said, if we get both of them, one of them, let us get one of them. We like both of them, but if we get one of them. Yeah, it makes a difference. I don't know if Simmons is available. I don't think so, but you never know, Ocho. But the question is, what y'all willing to give up for him? I mean, eh. You're going to have to hey, you're going to have to give him a first-round pick. He's the best he's tackling football. Yeah. Oh, you think you're about to get him? What you think you're about to get him? For a comic book and an apple? No, it's out of him and Chris Jones. Yeah. But, you know, the Titans are building something special over there. So I doubt he is their identity, similar to how Matt Crosby was with the Las Vegas Raiders. I agree. The Tennessee Titans, Jeffrey Simmons, is the Tennessee Titans. He's that leader. He's that captain. He's that face of that franchise, even though they have a quarterback that they just drafted in cam ward you know with the first pick we think tennessee titans the first thing you think is jeffrey simmons yeah i just don't see him going anywhere uh he said it multiple multiple times but you you never know you don't you don't somebody might make the uh uh them uh uh an offer they can't refuse yeah and that that's the only time would have happened. Yeah. But you can, people just not let you just have their best players. No, absolutely. You would have to give us some compensation. Draft picks, high. First rounders. Yes. Mm-hmm.
