Covino and Rich recap Super Bowl LIX, where the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29-13 in a low-scoring, defensive showcase. The hosts discuss the game's lack of excitement, Bad Bunny's halftime performance, and Sam Darnold's redemption story, while taking listener calls about memorable moments and observations from the event.
Insights
- Low-scoring Super Bowls can become compelling narratives when unique storylines emerge (Sam Darnold redemption, Jason Myers' five field goals), even if the game itself lacks traditional excitement
- Halftime show strategy has shifted from entertainment-first to global audience expansion; Bad Bunny's performance prioritized international market growth over domestic fan engagement
- Social media spreads misinformation rapidly during major events; false rumors about halftime performers spread within minutes despite being easily verifiable
- Casual sports fans increasingly tune in for social experience and entertainment rather than game quality, making halftime and commercials as important as gameplay
- Young, well-coached teams with strong defenses and affordable QB contracts (like the Seahawks) can compete immediately and sustain success for multiple seasons

This is an I Heart podcast. Guaranteed human. Hey, thanks for listening to the Covey Know and Rich podcast. Be sure to catch us live every week day from five to seven Eastern to the four Pacific on Fox Sports Radio. Find your local station for Covey Know and Rich at Fox Sports Radio dot com or Stream us live every day on the I Heart Radio app like searching FSR. Hey, back in Los Angeles. Had a great time in San Francisco. Thanks for being part of it. You missed anything at Covey Know and Rich FSR on YouTube. Hope you had a Seahawks kind of weekend. Congratulations to Sam Darnell. Kenneth Walker, Dan Byer and the Seattle Seahawks. Great job. Great job. Oh man, I think we got to figure out how to get this Monday off. Not us. I'm talking like society. We're like two years away from making that happen, huh? Oh yeah, we're real close to making it a holiday, moving the weekend ahead or something like that. But anyway, I'm Covey Know that is rich. The whole team is here and we're taking your phone calls. Let's go. Now, I think to make that happen, it's simple. We're all saying holiday with all these international games that are now on the docket. Celebrate. You know what's going to happen. They're going to eventually go to 18 games. Every team will get two by weeks because there's going to be a hell of a lot more international stuff. Thursday games, Friday games, all this nonsense, which will push the season back one week. And by doing that, if you line up Super Bowl Sunday and President's Day the following day, who on planet Earth would argue the day after the Super Bowl ends up being a holiday? That'd be perfect. Perfect, though. Perfect. Rinaldi, as you say. And speaking of international, that's the whole reason it was the bunny ball yesterday. The Benito ball was a business move. It was not a political move. Hope you enjoyed halftime. Did we get through halftime, everybody? Are we OK? Did we survive? I think I'll tell you what, after a lackluster first half, halftime seemed a hell of a lot better because that was a boring ass game the first half. Let's be real about it and let's do our very last of the season. Things that made you go, hmm, Super Bowl edition. Things that make you go. Things that make you go. You know, it's wild. It's it's sort of sad and anticlimactic all at the same time because we have this long season every week, every day. We're talking about a new storyline and it all ends today and we have to pretend we're excited about the end. Rich loves the NBA. No, well, I'm moving on to baseball. I don't know about you. I just said it's like it's like trying to get with a girl your whole, you know, time in college and like the end of your senior year, you finally get her. And like, I don't know. She's like lackluster in bed and you're like, I went. I worked so hard to get with this girl and that's it. That's that the Super Bowl gave you that like unfulfilling feeling like this is what we work towards. It's just a little sad, though, because it all came down to that. I do love the same Donald storyline. Of course, for the redemption of the Seattle fans who lost the heartbreaker to the Patriots all those years ago. And I feel a little sad for Drake May. I saw him all worked up and sad. Feels he let his teammates down. So let's talk about it. What were your observations? I didn't do him any favors. Tell me about it. Right. I mean, he was off, though, but so was Donald. However, they win 29 13. My prediction was 27 17. So I mean, if it wasn't for the fourth quarter, there would have been no scoring in that game. But your thoughts from half time to Green Day to whatever you observed. We want to chop it up one last time and get you involved. Things that made you go, hmm, I have so many thoughts from half time alone, Rich. As do I. But let's talk about the game for one second. Sure. Would you say, listen, we weren't there for the early Super Bowls when it wasn't a spectacle that marching bands at halftime, I'm sure they weren't the most exciting games. That's the most exciting, I'm sure, when our parents were little, right? But in recent history, they've been blowouts. But a lot of times those blowouts were like like a powerhouse team on display, like watching a dominant Cowboys team or a dominant, you know, chief's team or something where you're like, oh, look at this or Tom Brady working his magic. Something about this game, I can't, I don't want to be a prisoner of the moment, but it might have been the most boring Super Bowl I've ever seen in my life. It was a very clear example of what we thought could happen, which was the Patriots had a week schedule and he had some week competition and it was all exposed in the biggest game of the year. That's really it. And Seattle's defense deserves all the credit in the world. They were awesome. And again, we'll go through these observations and try to figure out why riches let down. If you have any thoughts, if you feel the same, let us know at 877-99 on Fox. Let's go 877-99 on Fox and the live chat is up. Covino and Rich FSR on YouTube. You could watch what you hear. Covino and Rich FSR on YouTube. Two takeaways. History was made though, Rich. Boring? Yes. But history was made. Boring. Seattle made history with five field goals. So Jason Myers with five field goals. Yay. History. Yay. And the Patriots made history last night too in their loss. And none of the field goals were long kicks. I know. I know. There was no drama with the kicks. None. There was a time in that game when it was 12-nothing that I was talking to the people at my house at our little party and I was saying, yo, if Myers tax on two more field goals, let's say this game ends 18-nothing and it's because of six field goals. Was his name in consideration? Would you have had to put his name in consideration? I mean, I think so. I don't think so. No. Well, Danny, even if it was, let's just say, in an imaginary world, if this dude was responsible for 18 points or more, how could he not be? Danny, he gave it to Kenneth Walker. It was 12-nothing at the end of the third. Walker scored zero points. I know, but he did have a nice accumulation of understanding. He's the one that got them into field goal range. Well, Rich didn't say he would have won. He said he would have been in consideration. OK, he would have maybe been, you know, thought of. Oh, Danny. He couldn't win. I don't think he could win it. I agree. That would be a very weird choice. He would need like a couple of 60-yard bombs. Of course. No, I agreed. But I'm saying when it was 12-nothing and that was the only scoring, I did think like, what if they have two more chip shots and the final score is 18-nothing, six field goals? You'd almost have to be like, should you give it to the kicker? Kenneth Walker had that run called back, which you thought was the icing on the cake, but he still got it anyway. Field goals aren't automatic, especially in big-time pressure moments. And like I said, the Patriots also made history with the loss. That's their sixth Super Bowl loss, the most by any franchise in NFL history. So I don't want to see congrats, but you've got to be pretty good just to even be in that company. You know, it's not boring if you're a Seahawks fan. I'm reading the feedback. Michael M. says that. No, that's true. I agree. If you're a Seahawks fan, what an amazing day for you. But if you're not a Seahawks fan, the sentiment is top three boring Super Bowl of all time. Like it really was. That fourth quarter saved it from like without a doubt being the worst Super Bowl. Like maybe a couple of turnovers, some fun at least, some action. Because like our buddy Spotty said on our Patreon today, we're on Patreon every day. Patreon.com slash Covino and Rich. There was like a 30-second window where you thought there might be a fun comeback because they started moving the ball a little bit. So there was like a little bit like, oh, wait, hold on. Yeah. Even Chris Collins worth with that interception was like, oh, I got nothing. Yeah. That was just got done saying, wow, they found a temple. They found the rhythm. They find that temple. They score again. And you're like, oh, maybe we'll get the ball back. At the two minute warning and there'll be a chance. But then you're at that. That pick sort of sealed it. But you know, one of the things that made me go, things that made you go, hmm, it really does come down to who you play and who's the hot conference at the time. And again, not making excuses for my 49ers. But there is a part of me that's like, man, my 49ers team that lost a couple in the last five bumped into the chiefs in their prime. That's in the Seahawks were handed a Super Bowl. But God, how many how many NFC teams wish their chance was against that good Patriots team? You know what I'm saying? Like in the 90s, remember the 90s, it was whoever won the NFC for a while was going to win the Super Bowl. I feel like whoever, Kate, like the Rams should be very bummed right now because the Rams are thinking, Stafford's thinking, man, if I would have got it together and we would have won that game, the Rams would have slaughtered you England. But something that's being a little overlooked today, the Patriots defense really held their ground. They were banned, but don't break. If they had a better offensive performance, like I caught Colin for just a few minutes this morning, you know, the guy who stole our quarterback. Oh, the Fernando thief. You mean the guy who sniped Fernando? He asked the question, if you traded quarterbacks, would the Patriots have won that game? If you traded quarterbacks. So Sam Darnold was OK. I know that Sam Darnold's a darling to Colin. Yeah, very much. Colin was emotional last night in tears because he was so overjoyed with the story of Sam Darnold. So if they would have traded quarterbacks, would the Patriots have won? No. No, I don't think so. Because the Patriots defense played well to that quarter. But I imagine Colin said so because he's such a fan. I don't think the quarterback played a factor. Seattle D going after Sam Darnold, if he was the Patriots quarterback, I see it playing out the same way. Yeah, I think either way, the Seahawks defense. Like Darnold had no turnovers, which was he did his part. Sam Darnold, one touchdown. 202 yards, one tutty, and no turnovers. That was the key. And that was the criticism as well. Even our very own Dan Byer was like, let's hope he doesn't have a stinker and turn it over. Rich brought that up here on the show as well. Patriots, Drake May, 295 yards, two touchdowns, but also two intercepts. Yeah, and a lot of that in the fourth quarter garbage time. But I say no because Sam Darnold was the first to credit his own defense for winning that game. I think that was pretty evident, even though Darnold played okay, it was the defense that won the game. Sure, but if the Patriots had been able to put up some points there in the fourth quarter, we would have had a more exciting ending to that super. I knew we were hoping for that. But here's the question now, as far as things that made you go, our observations, and we'll take all your feedback. Rich's wife's wings were more exciting than the game, I think. They were. Yeah, delicious. Yeah, they were. Did you like the lemon pepper or the Cajun ones? Both actually, yeah. There was only one lemon pepper left and I snagged it. Watching Sam lick his fingers after eating that one he snagged was more exciting than the first half. I'll say the first half of that game. So more observations. What do you got, Rich? I think when you look at changing narratives in sports, that's what we do every day, right? We talk about who's good, who's bad, or everyone's got their weak-ass predictions. Half the time, you're wrong, I'm wrong. The best are wrong, the worst are wrong, right? No one can predict things. That's what you always say. Being, trying to be a fortune teller in sports is ridiculous. But now that they won, there is a thought of, well, can the Seahawks now be at the beginning of a little bit of a run here? Because going into the season, we thought, hey, they got Sam Darnold. He's good, but I don't know if that'll take the Seahawks all the way, at least that's how I felt. They were in Vegas scheduled to be predicted to be like, maybe a borderline playoff team. But now that they won and you saw that defense is for real, you saw how well they're coached. Well, ironically, their running game was what helped them out in this game. So if they build around that too and build their offense up a little more, yeah, I think they're on a good run right now. Sam Darnold is the guy that doesn't make the mistakes he used to. They have a good running back. They have a fantastic defense. They're well coached. And I looked it up. They're the fifth youngest team in the NFL. So if you're the fifth youngest team, and McDonald is what, 36 or something? 30 something. He's 38 years old. 38. Jeez, Luis. So I'm saying if he's young, if he's like, you know, young minds in the NFL, the roster's average age is 25. Could you look at the Seahawks and genuinely think they'll be in the mix for a couple of years? Is that the sense you get? Or is this a sense of like, oh, no, this is an anomaly. Everything lined up for this team this year. They didn't overpay for Sam Darnold. So they're definitely going to be in the mix. Yeah, they're in the mix. Like, but the AFC is going to come back stronger though. We did not have our premier AFC team in the Super Bowl. It was a weird year for the AFC. I will say that because remember going into the year, we were like, man, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Buffalo, Kansas City. We thought it was going to be an AFC driven league. And it turns out it was the NFC West and like, you know, some of the North, you know what I feel should have happened sooner. I think everybody recognized that. Drake may should have just ran when he had the opportunity. That was the most progress they had moving the ball down the field. Yeah, there was, there was nothing, right? Nothing coverage was so tight, but it left some opening up for him to run. You know, when he did, they moved the ball. My, all right, then keep doing that. My favorite meme, my favorite meme I saw on social media yesterday that everyone was passing around was at half time when bed bunnies holding the football and he's walking forward through the corn maze while he's singing. It's that sugar cane, sugar cane, sugar cane fields. It looked like corn. I don't know. What is it? It was sugar cane. Yeah, like really make rum. Oh, you're talking to corny Collins. I know my corn sugar. I mean, you are from Iowa, Sam. I mean, it's Puerto Rico. I thought it was hilarious when they said bad bunny ran for more yards than the New England Patriots offense in the first half, which was true. It was true. It was funny because it's true. And I have two observations about that, too. I kind of respected how bad bunny held the football. He had the five points of pressure kind of looking like a pro there. He had a little swag to him in his little Zara suit. He was looking handsome, looking little swagalicious with the ball right there. Like an old school Roger Craig for the Niners. He did like he did it properly. He did it justice. But on that same note, I felt the way he spiked the ball was a little, a little weak, a little weak. About not. That was not a grunk spike. It was not a grunk. That was. But at the same time, you know, it would have been awkward if he spiked it and it hit someone else in the face or came back. It was it was not an athletic looking spike. So yeah, but I think he had to go extra low to ensure that it didn't like hit somebody in the face. But I did notice it. It was a weak sort of spike. And the football did say, if you missed it together, we are America. I thought that was cool. But yeah, respect to him and and holding onto the ball tight. Observations from the Super Bowl. Let's start with Jake and Penn. What's up, Jake? Hey, Jake. Hey, what's going on guys? First time a long time. Thanks man. What's up? So I got a grievance. Yes. I'm sitting there watching. I think at the beginning of the fourth quarter, you can vote. You can start voting for the MVP of the game. And so at that point in the game, I'm sitting there and I'm going, man, wouldn't this be crazy if the kicker from Seattle actually was the MVP? Because to that point, he was only one score point. And so I log on. I'm going to do my voting. You can vote for wide receivers, cornerbacks, defensive linemen, everybody. No kickers. You could not vote for the kicker. Man, kickers are people too. And he was only one score point. That's true. That's true. Yeah, that's weak. You should be able to vote for him. Well, there's have feelings to Kenneth Walker. You know, was a surprise because no one predicted they'd be running the ball. Plus 800 going into the game. Kenneth Walker MVP was like around plus eight. They were finding great success with Kenneth Walker and just running the ball, moving the ball. And he would have had a touchdown, right? Charbonne had been the guy there in the second half of the season for the most part. And he, of course, was out injured 135 yards. I do think that him winning takes away from Sam Donald's story a little bit. I think he deserved it. I'm not saying I don't think he deserved it, but it would have been way cooler had Sam Donald had a better game. Not that he sucked, but if he had a really good game and won the MVP to just added to the awesome story of Sam Donald's full circle of going from the jets and dished around to being Super Bowl champion and MVP. Sam Donald now has more Super Bowls than the four teams that distum since the nineties. It's insane. It really is a great, great story. Think about it. Carolina, nothing. Minnesota, nothing. 49ers. Last time they won the 94 95 season. And the jets. Come on. So I mean, I have a non football observation, but it used to be such a big part of the game and celebration. And that's the commercials. There's so many reasons as to why we don't care as much as we used to social media as a big part of that. Our attention spans are a big part of that too, probably, but what's with all the weak AI and all these commercials? Like there was a lot of, it was like an an overuse of weak AI. I feel like people make better AI on their phones than they do in major motion pictures and major commercials, but I don't know, man. Like the whole thought of being excited about Super Bowl commercials is officially finito stick a fork in it. I didn't give a diddly squat about any of them. Spot brought up the Jurassic Park one. That one stood out, but again, it goes back to weak. It was a lot of weak AI. Like it bothers my eyes. It's just not a focal point anymore. It's not, you know, we've attended parties and hosted parties. Our whole life, right? Well, I see it's been aft like what a stupid wig on. I'm like, yeah, it's corny. I feel like the attention at my house was everyone did that. Hey, it's like settled down. Let's, let's, let's take a look at half time and the beginning of the game, you know, the coin toss, um, national anthem, you know, the first few plays and then people getting their chit chat mode, eating, drinking, having fun. The idea of like, yo guys, settle down. Let's watch the commercials. That's, that's not a thing anymore. Rich did Charlie Puth make you cry. I thought it was really good. I mean, I don't think anything, and then the fist bump between the, the two pilots. I don't think anything that happened yesterday, unless you're Dan Beyer and your Seahawks fan. I don't think anything yesterday was memorable. I think it just goes in the mix of Superbowl. So there's been 60 of them now. Not everything can be the best. In a way, there was a football game going on during the bad bunny concert because there were so many people tuned in for that. By the way, the numbers are in over 141 million tuned in for bad bunny. And I don't think that game did football. Any favors? Yeah. It got a lot of eyes and a lot of casual fans involved, but the whole poll is to have bad bunny to bring new fans to see an exciting game. So if you're a casual fan, yeah, you're chit chatting about the Buffalo Wild Wings, when you should be excited about the game, it was a boring game. Listen, if a lot of other controversy surrounding it, if you had people over your house that aren't football fans, because I had a few friends that are like, yeah, I'm not a football person, but they're there for the hang. They made it a point to be like, am I supposed to know some of these people? And the reality is, if you're not, I mean, casual fans were not excited about that. I mean, we all know football, but some of my wife's friends and stuff were like, who's like the main guy? And I'm like, well, Drake mays young, so you really wouldn't know him yet. And Sam Darnold, like he's got a cool story. Like he was like, throwing into the trash. And then this team gave him a chance in the last couple of years. Like, well, it was a big story for a lot of nameless offensive linemen for Seattle too, because they were making some big plays and a lot of people like, who's that? So congrats to the Seahawks. You know what I had to do yesterday? There was a pain in the ass. I can't be the only one. So I'll bring this up. If you had multiple TVs going, we had four TVs going at the house. We had the projector in the yard. We had the garage, the living room, and then near the kitchen. You had to set up four TVs. What are you rich or something? TCL Richelry. Go back to a 1955. What do you have a TV? What are you rich yourself? That's a commercial. What are commercials? What's a rerun? What's a rerun? You would think if I'm watching them all in the same streaming service, which I use Hulu live, all were at a different speed. Do you know I had to go around and be like, you know, they're in the beginnings of where to give me, where did Smith and Jigba go to college? Buck eyes. Oh, I stay right. Okay. So I had a wait until little heads popped up and it's like Smith and Jigba Ohio State. Pause in that moment. Get, I had to get every TV. Oh, you're coordinated at the exact same moment and then tell four people like, be like, and press play because Sam, when I put the game on, they were all in four different spots. So with volume, same network. Yeah. That's such a pain in my ass. So I couldn't be the only one that had to sync up the TVs. There's gotta be a better way. So yeah, 141 million tuned in for bad bunny, but only to see a sort of a weak ass game. And 6.1 million tuned in to see kid rock turning point USA. That's more fascinating to me that six million people were in such a protest like, but I'm going to watch kid rocks and cowboy whether it's the last thing I do. I'm going to take a positive spin on this. That's a lot more than I thought would tune in to see kid rock. And that's not a knock on kid rock. You know, I grew up loving rock. That's more people than have listened to his music in a long time. 6.1 million way more than I thought. And I heard it was pretty good. Same, same for bad money. Pretty good, depending on if you're a fan or not. So I heard it was all right. By the way, two things, two things can be true. Two things can be true. You could, uh, you could watch kid rock if you want, but the narrative that if you didn't like bad bunny and you like, I don't get it, that doesn't make you racist, by the way, just for the record. That I saw people like say, just language. Like I don't get it. Like, you could, you could have said, you could have said, yeah, I don't get this at all. Doesn't mean you're racist. Just means you're not into Spanish speaking music. And you like who you think everyone's parents knew who bad bunny was. I thought it was better than the past few years to be honest. I was talking to my dad and we agreed on something and Kavino, I know you and I had the same thought. When Ricky Martin comes out, what a stud. How did they drop the ball and not have him do like 30 seconds of live in La Vida, local? I know why you would have stole the show. You would have got everyone being like, yeah, I know that he would have stole the show. He belted it though. Yeah. Oh, he had a voice like that. He's aging backwards, props to him. There's so many observations just from that too, which we got to get to and we will, but more of your feedback from the game and more. This is our very last of the season. Things that made you go, hmm, Super Bowl edition, more Kavino and rich next on Fox Sports Radio. All right, buddy, ready to tackle your financial goal. Am I? Hey, Mark, it's doing okay. Bowl. I like the Robbie Hart version best holiday. Everyone's sandal is all sad in the wedding singer. Oh yeah. Let's celebrate and we're getting closer to that Super Bowl after day off. Yeah. And we hope you're feeling okay today. Hope you didn't party too hard. Andrew W K style. But right now it's our last. It's kind of sad. It's our last of the season. Things that made you go home. Super Bowl edition. Let's let's go right back to you guys. And I got a lot more Super Bowl halftime observations too because that's the big controversy, right? The game was pretty much putting dry. Seattle dominated. I don't believe it. What I don't believe it. I think no one really cares. And a few people on social media make us think people are mad about things like, why are you really mad about bad money for like, what would make you mad about that? Um, well, Spanish speakers, they don't understand it. You didn't see Eric Dickerson, Hall of Famer, double down on how it was un-American. Yeah, but it's like 15 minutes of a performance. So, hey, it doesn't speak English. Not for you. If it hurts your feelings that bad, you're kind of soft. Like enjoy some Buffalo wings, grab a cookie, have a conversation. I'm not disagreeing, but rich, there were plenty of people with the way they worded their posts on social media. It kind of came off a little racist. You know what I say to those people? Get a life. Like, you know, I call it how I see it. Sometimes I lean one way. Sometimes it lean another way. I don't get how you can't be mad for the NFL making a great business decision. Again, I'll reiterate what we already said. It wasn't a political choice. It was a business decision. These guys, they are going international. There's so many international games next year. They're trying to globalize the sport. They are globalizing the sport. Think of it like the World Cup, because that's what they're shooting for. And if you want, if you want the game to grow, then stop crying about it. And you wouldn't complain if it were the World Cup. So we shouldn't be complaining because it's bad bunny at Super Bowl. Next year they're going with the Wiggles because they're taking over Australia. Yeah, man. Absolutely. The can't wait. Rich is Niners going to be in Australia. My only thought, my only thought that, that we're at work next year, the only time, the only time where I'm like, Oh, they blew it was when you saw Ricky Martin, it's like, you know, if he did 30 seconds of she bangs or live in La Vida, Loka, Covino's right. Maybe you want to start the show. The bride's maid could never outshine the bride, right? So you can't have Ricky Martin live in La Vida, Loka doing his little leg kicks and everything, stealing the show. Or even if Gaga went into like Abra Kadabra for like 20 seconds, just something to, oh, like, it's a bad bunny show dude. He's the, and here's the other thing. You can't debate it. And here's why. He was the number one streaming artist on Spotify and everywhere all over the world. Okay. International Superstar. How could you hate on that? The NFL went as big time as they possibly could. So congrats on that. Now, do I expect everybody to have enjoyed it? No, because I understand everyone speaks Spanish, but I do recognize this, that he represented all cultures. I thought that was kind of cool because he didn't just represent Puerto Rico, right? It was all Latin countries. You had all sorts of different representation. You had Cardi B there for the Dominicans. You had Pedro Pascal for the Chileans. Jessica Alba for the Mexicans. Alex Earl for the whiteies. You had Lady Gaga. You had Ronald Acunha Jr. I don't think a lot of people realize this. Raves Venezuelan baseball player out there at the halftime show. You know how they had people dressed up as the plants on the field as the, the sugar cane, right? People Dan Byer was one of them. Yeah. He made $18 an hour. The fun fire was on the field. The fun fact is they made 1870 an hour. And they worked a thousand hours total. No, like 70 hours. Wasn't it? They made like a thousand bucks. Dan Byer wanted to get on the field. So he had to do what he had to do. So yeah, Dan Byer was a sugar cane stock number five. They practiced for two weeks. Go, you know, I will say this to, you know, speaking of things being represented, you know, all the little subtleties, I think that there was a lot of prideful moments for Hispanic people and, and Puerto Ricans and little kids sleeping on the chair and how in Hispanic culture, people party late into the night and the little kids are sleeping there at the party on the chairs and all the little things that he did. But I really love that he even acknowledged the Mexican, Puerto Rican boxing rivalries. Like, I don't know if you guys saw it, but Xander Zeyas was there representing Puerto Rico boxing Emiliano Vargas. I don't think anyone knows those are two people you mentioned, but that's cool. Fernando Vargas, his son. So he Mexican fighter versus Puerto Rican fighter. Again, it's just part of the culture. You have the people got married. There was a couple that genuinely got married, but I will say yesterday paid for my wedding. Yesterday was a, also a master class in how dumb we are for believing social media because do you know how many people are like, you know, that little kid, bad bunny handed his Grammy to that was the five year old kid that was detained by ice. Everybody and that went wild. Everyone on social media was spreading this rumor around and it was completely false. It was a little actor. So just, it was a master class in showing how quickly a false rumor could spread because within minutes, everyone thought that. And by the way, for the record, would I have preferred Metallica 100% they're from San Francisco. They're getting older. They're windows closing. They deserve it. But man, you can't get big bigger than bad bunny internationally. Well, let's, I liked it. Let's do, let's do a couple calls after we go to Isaac Lohenkrand for Isaac. I low. What's up, man? Fellas, let's start at the Winter Olympics. The U S women's hockey team is now three and thanks to a five nothing victory over Switzerland, while the U S curling mixed doubles duo of Corey Dropkin and Corey T C defeated Italy today, nine to eight to advance to the gold medal match against Sweden and guys here is how their clinching slide sounded. Girl, girl, clean. Clean. This is the word you want to hear. Oh, for team USA. Wow. And that's our, that's our tire rack play of it. No, never thought, never thought that curling on the radio could sound so interesting. Anyway, the NFL, the Super Bowl champion Seahawks landed back in Seattle about half an hour ago, minus Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker and winning quarterback Sam Darnold, who are presently at Disneyland and based on a video of them riding the T cups together, trying extremely hard to make it seem like they actually want to be there. I think you can say they missed the five like, well, they had an anti-ans when they were boarding and forgot. You could just tell they're fighting the good fight there, but they would, they would rather be back in Seattle with their teammates. They will be back there on Wednesday because the Seahawks announced that's when they're going to hold their championship celebration beginning with rally at Lumen field and then a parade through downtown Seattle. No word yet on whether the festivities will include Fox Sports radio Seahawks aficionado Dan Byer repelling down the space needle wearing nothing but a Navy and lime green speedo. It's 90 minutes of fun and then you're done. Can't wait for Wednesday. Back to you guys. Thank you Isaac. Very happy for our very own Dan Byer Seahawks fan. Our pals like Weston Vegas who root hard for the Seahawks. Congrats to all the Seahawks fans by the way. If you're a Seahawks fan, I understand you loved every second of it. Of course. I mean, I love so congrats. I love Super Bowls when I was a little kid with the Niners dominated of course, but everyone else was like boring and congrats to Darnold and Walker and Jason Myers. Like we said, now back to your phone calls at eight, seven, seven, 99 on Fox phones roll it. So let's take one that we'll take the rest next. Let's, uh, who's been holding the longest Danny that would be Justin in Pittsburgh. What's up Justin? How are you buddy? You guys love the show. Oh, thanks man. Check in and say, Hey, after hearing how college college swipes you guys's Mendoza interview, that just reaffirms how like I just can't stand his elitist attitude. We love Colin, but you know what? I'll tell you this though. I think we should, we should look stars. We should be really sad about it and be like, well, Colin, then you have to like hand off Tom Brady to us once because we always, let's make this clear because I don't want any sort of controversy. Oh, I think Stu got cloned at all about his show. They took up arms for you. On blast over this, you know, I understand that doesn't mean we have to like it, but I completely understand. I get it. It's why it happened. Exactly. He's the bigger fish. Yeah. So I mean, we'd be so fake to pretend like we were cool with that. And, but at the same time, are we mad at Colin? No, totally understand. Just how about the producer of his show who stole the kid? Yeah, well, you still got a picture with him and that's very truthful and very honest. And, and look, I don't want any Calhurt heat. And I mean that because honestly, we wouldn't have gotten this opportunity. I think, I think you guys handled it pretty good on Friday on radio. Listen, we got the nod from Calhurt and that's partially why we even got an opportunity here at Fox Sports Radio. He vouched for us and I'm always grateful for that. But that doesn't mean I have to be happy about losing that guest because we were super pumped about it. And does this mean you guys can be poached from now on? Because one Stugots thought at the end of their conversation about it was they should have stole Jackson Dadaway from you. They knew you guys were a fair game to steal interviews from two side notes. I got to listen to back to what Stugots said about us and so should you. It was second hour of his show today. He broke it down, but it was also really cool to share the stage and hang with Stugots at Super Bowl. And Colin, we went to Colin's party. It was great. Oh, by the way, Colin did comment about swiping Fernando. I don't know if you heard this. Cavino and Rich, look, I'm sorry I had to come in and take Fernando, but stars attract stars. The big dogs want to eat with other big dogs. Not Cavino and Rich. It's Dard. Sorry, there you go. Thank you. Thank you, Colin. And thank you, Joey Molinaro. And thank you, Fox Sports Radio Nation. We're going to wrap up things that made you go, hmm, Super Bowl edition with your phone calls, Hang tight and your feedback next. Are you facing hiring headaches? Stepping your business is complex. I thought it was a cool half-time show. I really did. I thought it was cool. I liked it. I didn't love it. I liked it. I liked it. Kavino Enrich, Fox Sports Radio. What's fascinating is if you've ever been lucky enough to go to a Super Bowl, watching them bring the set on and take it off within that little timeframe, yo, it's amazing how they're well oiled machines. A lot of feedback from people at the game that the half-time show was visually ass. It was buns. Unless you're up high, you just saw nothing but sugar cane people. But on camera, this show was more designed for our visual pleasures at home. And we're live from Fox Sports Radio Studios. Time for our Tire Act play of the day. We all rejoiced when we finally got to see a touchdown last night. Alani in the backfield now, play fake to him. Sam stops. Looks, throws, got a man wide open. Touchdown! Seahawks! It is AJ Barnard! He could not wait to get out of that hotel. Talked to him yesterday. He said, I've got to go hit somebody. AJ, how about catching a touchdown too? That was courtesy of Seahawks Radio Network. That was our Tire Act play of the day. And for over 40 years, our good friends at Tire Act have been helping customers find the right tires for how, what and where they drive. Ship fast and free. Back by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tire Act.com, the way tire buying should be. I heard when that touchdown happened, Dan Byer went into a mean robot dance. He just lost it. Short circuit. Was there a, was there a part of you in the third quarter guys where when a game's low scoring and boring like that, then you start rooting for that? Yes. Like there comes a point where you're like, you know, now I don't want to see a touchdown. That's funny. Brenda said, I hope it stays zero because no Super Bowl team had ever been shut out. Yeah. So at one point. So it would have been history in the other direction. I was rooting for all field goals. I was like, you know, it'd be wild like 18 nothing for the story goals, just for the story. But it's already like, man, boring. Then you're like, all right, what could we see that we've never seen before? A shutout only field goals. Like there's never been a Super Bowl where there's not been a touchdown score either. Didn't we, didn't someone look that up yesterday? Let me tell you, I was Sam's little football socks that he was wearing at your party. Oh, you know, we're more exciting than the first half of that game. Wow. Yeah. I was more excited to see in Sam and his little festive socks. You're very observant. Yeah. I did notice that Sam see and that kind of guy. Yeah. So anyway, it was fun partying and we hope you guys enjoyed it. We're going to wrap it up with your feedback. We promise everybody on hold, hang tight. Everybody on the live chat. Keep chiming in. Who do we got for now? Let's say how to Russell in Las Vegas. What's up? Hey, man, I missed you the last time you were in Vegas, man. I apologize. I was out of town. Out of the country. It's all right. We have to get the next time you guys come in a town, I'll get, I'll get the beers for you. Yeah. You know what? I'm holding you to it. Russ, what's up, man? What's up? Hey, hold on. Hold to me. Hey, let's go back down to the Super Bowl. Last night, I saw the, the quarterbacks, what lead to sharp? What was the old passes under the old passes? But then I started thinking about, Hey, what if someone got shut out in the Super Bowl? Yeah, that's, that's where you start rooting. You start rooting for that. And I get both quarterbacks were not sharp. There was a couple passes where I like there was guys wide open and you were like, Oh, so, Hey, listen, we move on to other things now. Plus this hour we play, what are we doing Mondays? Last one standing. All right. All that and more next right here on CNR. This is an I heart podcast guaranteed human.
