Hey Bible readers, I'm Miss Emily and this is the Bible Recap. For kids! Today's Bible Burst! In Genesis 45, 5, Joseph says, But don't be upset and don't be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here, ahead of you to preserve your lives. When Joseph's brothers returned to Egypt with Benjamin, Joseph invites them over for a feast. As they leave, Joseph, again, sneaks money into the brothers' bags and a silver cup into Benjamin's bag. Then, Joseph sends his servants after the brothers. The servants find the items and accuse the brothers of stealing before taking them back to Joseph. One of the brothers, Judah, makes a speech and admits that 10 of the brothers are in fact guilty but not of stealing the silver cup. He seems humbled, perhaps remembering his sin and the tragedy in his own life, selling Joseph into slavery, losing two sons and a wife, and having children with Tamar. God has brought Judah to repentance and maybe because Judah thinks Benjamin stole Joseph's cup, Judah offers to take Benjamin's punishment for that crime. Joseph is overcome with emotion and he finally tells his brothers who he is. He forgives them, offers them the best land in Egypt, and invites them to move there so he can take care of them. TAKE GOD'S DRAW! God forgives us and helps us forgive others. When Joseph tells his brothers that he forgives them, he also tells them that God was at work all along. Even though the brothers tried to hurt Joseph, they didn't ruin his life or God's plans. When we remember how much God has forgiven us and how he is always at work for our good, we can be ready and willing to forgive others. He's where the forgiveness is and he's where the joy is.
