Summary

Episode 603 features interviews with Morgan Geekie on his breakout scoring season with the Boston Bruins and Ken Reid discussing NHL scouting stories from his new book. The hosts debate Quinn Hughes trade speculation, hand-pass review inconsistencies, and the resurgent Colorado Avalanche.

Insights
  • Morgan Geekie's transformation from Seattle depth player to 30+ goal scorer demonstrates the impact of opportunity, coaching (skills coach Cigillette), and role expansion rather than sudden skill development
  • Instant replay in hockey has created more problems than solutions; inconsistent hand-pass rulings (Hagel, Marshall, Matheson) show the system is broken and coaches are losing faith in officiating
  • NHL scouts are driven by passion for finding undervalued talent across all levels, not just top prospects; stories reveal scouts often come from unconventional backgrounds and work for minimal compensation
  • Quinn Hughes trade speculation reveals organizational dysfunction in Vancouver; Devils have cap constraints that may prevent acquisition despite Hughes likely signing there eventually
  • Colorado Avalanche's dominance stems from McKinnon-MacKinnon pairing playing 422+ minutes together; strategic deployment of star players with complementary skill sets creates exponential offensive advantage
Trends
Coaching staff impact on player development: Geekie credits skills coach and system change as primary factors in goal-scoring improvement, not individual skill acquisitionReplay review inconsistency eroding coach confidence: Multiple hand-pass rulings in same week show need for standardized criteria or elimination of replayScouting culture values passion over credentials: Book reveals scouts often lack formal training but succeed through dedication and unconventional career pathsStar player deployment strategy: Top teams concentrating elite players' ice time together rather than spreading across lineup for depthOrganizational dysfunction in struggling franchises: Vancouver's inability to retain Quinn Hughes reflects broader management issues beyond single playerBaseball crossover benefits in hockey: Geekie's baseball background improved hand-eye coordination and release, suggesting multi-sport youth development advantagesMid-season coaching changes impact team culture: Boston's system change under new coach improved team identity and player confidenceCanadian Olympic team selection pressure: Modest players like Geekie and Bedard facing intense scrutiny despite statistical qualification

Guys, what is going on? I know you're in Welland, that's exciting. Back home, Davenport, you feel it too. I'm going to take your USA jersey and I'm going to double it up. Can you see those witty? Except those are kids. I knew you played under 18, gold medalist. What's the other one? I played two under 18s. I did the summer one before the season starts. That's not the world championship and then when the season ends, if you're a junior team or I don't know if we had any college guys, God, that's a kind of stumping myself here. But if you were beat out in the first round of CHL playoffs, you were able to go overseas and attend the world championship. So you could see that they both have gold medals. The one I was talking about was one of mine. One has an A too. The one had an A on it. Not a big deal. Who was on that team? Excuse me, sorry. Then the other one is from under 17. I represented Team Ontario and that's when I got a letter on my jersey. The other one must be in there or maybe I sold it on eBay. So I'm not really sure where the other one is. But I actually have my Calder Cup one in there. My parents moved my first ever game sheet when I played for the Pittsburgh Penguins from above the toilet and they were kind enough to put it in my bedroom now. So that was a nice little transition. So great seeing the folks. I had a pretty eventful week, boys. I mean, obviously I saw you guys on Thursday. That was awesome. Two months ago. Yeah, that was a year ago. That was a year ago. That was a great night though. Oh, I had so much fun snapping around with you guys. Some great games, big Leafs win. You guys were all over me about that save on wall. And then I got to do hockey night in Canada with the crew. What you guys were all over me about saying that was a good save, although we pulled this boy. No, you said that save on wall. Wall made the save. But I was just kind of chirping. Hey, I know. English is not your first language. I understand it. It was a great day. I want to hear about your boys weekend. It was great. Yeah, seriously. That's a grind, dude. That's the that's way worse than playing a HL back to Saturday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. And I'll also tell everyone out there and I've argued with people before about this. Being a stay at home parent is way harder than working. Now, probably not if you're manual labor working, right? If you're out there laying brick, if you're on the oil rigs, like I'm not saying that I'm talking like to go in and sit at a desk and talk to people and go for your 45 minute lunch break like watch YouTube. They don't pair things way harder, way harder. But what happened was the stomach bug is is running wild through, I think, everywhere right now. And I actually saw like a week ago, maybe 10 days ago, something is that the Novo virus, Novo virus or something. That's like a stomach bug. I'm probably messing it up. The Nano-Banana virus? There's something like that. Excuse me. I said the Nano-Banana. Nano-Banana. Never heard that one. What is that? I don't know. I've been hearing it going around lately. I don't know what it is. Fair enough. Fair enough. Now, I didn't, I wasn't told. My wife didn't tell me that when we were at beautiful Sococcus, New Jersey, for a coast to coast Amazon Prime, phenomenal night, that morning I left Cal puke. He puked everywhere a couple of times. And I wasn't told that because later on she told me, I know you're such a mental midget, you would have basically convinced yourself that you were going to get sick. So I didn't even want you to know. Veteran move. Veteran move. I didn't even want you to know. So I didn't know anything and I had a Wyatt, Wyatt's been sleepwalking lately. He's sleepwalks a lot. It's very random. Both three hours after he goes to bed, he wakes up and just comes downstairs and is just talking, but he's not awake. Like he, he's complete. Now granted, he's awake, but he's not. He's sleepwalking. Right, right, right. He would remember walking downstairs. No, no, no, no, no, no. And he's just talking. You go up and talk to him and try to like, like what do you do when he does that? I don't actually, I just, I just like kind of pick him up and then put him back into bed because I'm like, I don't even, maybe you're not supposed to wake him up. Maybe you're supposed to. I don't know. I'm just going by the seat of my pants here. So that night I put him in my bed, you know, breezed away. I'm like, all right, well, we got a big old bed, you know, the shack bed, the big old California king. And so it's about 2.30 and I wake up to, and he is on his knees and he's puking everywhere. He's puking. And then I'm like, whoa, why? And he turns, buddy. He puked directly in my face. No way. But a projectile vomit buried me in the face like Joe Pavelski did with the right handbook. I was a hover. Did you, did you worse off key him? The Xeon waivers. No, no shower. I'm in the shower. I basically puked from the puke in my mouth. So I like, you puke and I was, I was like, this is, this is maybe the grossest thing that's ever, remember I touched the toilet on the plane with my nose when I was puking. I think that was last year. This one was way worse. Way worse. Oh, there I am. There I am. Add some puke to his face. Memes, please. Yeah. It's people who listen to the pod. They miss out on a lot because of the YouTube. We got a picture of a witty daycare up there. Just getting puked on. Hey, now in fairness, I haven't, I haven't, and then Brie got it. Brie got it. Well, she was away. I haven't got it yet though. I think I might be an absolute animal. Just, just an iron man of not getting the, the noble, Oh yeah. Noble, but anis, Until you're rocking puking later today. It was the pink Whitney, the pink Whitney that you had killed it. I think that's true. Smart move. And made me look better to some people who were also drinking it. So it's a win-win, but just incredible to be right in the middle of the night, just a, just an enormous vomit right in your mouth. One of the grossest things that'll ever happen to me, but it was something that I'll never forget. Never forget. I think it bumps it down a notch that it was your own kid. Like imagine it was like some random person or something. That's a regular person. We're going like I'm going them. Then it is. Yeah, you have to. You have to. I think the worst, I think the worst possible thing would be like having like a homeless guy like throw shit in your face and like a guy in your mouth. Like that to me would be the biggest, biggest nightmare going right. Yeah. Like shit. Like not ahead of puke. Right. Yeah. I think you're going to make me puke. But just, just show it. I mean, you said that story and I'm thinking what could possibly be worse than that. And that was the only thing I could think of off the top of my head. But wow, man. I mean, that is just like what was when, when it happened, like how long were you stalled there for where you were like that? Like, is this a dream? Am I in a dream? Well, I was kind of like half asleep as I woke up to him puking. But then when, you know, when it buries you in the face, it's a, it's a, it's a shot of adrenaline. Oh, yeah. And I was up and I was up, but he was so upset that right. Like I'm just like dad of the year in this thing. Like, you know, it was like, it was like spitting blood out in the middle of a boxing match as you're just trying to keep things going and, and stay in the middle of the fight. Right. And chuck them in the shower. Part of a lion. And, and you know what, if he hadn't slept walk, he's doing that in the middle of the fight. He's doing that in his room and him and Ryder share a room that could have been a disaster than Ryder would have woke up. So it actually was a blessing in disguise that he was in my bed. So it's, it's, it's amazing. You should have seen me making the bed. So then I'm making the bed after I've never, I've never made our bed. Not one time. I'm not, I'm, I, I make the bed. I have to do all the, I have to do both. I have to be the man and the woman in my household. Right. Cause I have, I have to do all the chores. Cause the other one left and took the dog. I was going to go back to, you said it was Ryder who was sleepwalking. Does Wyatt, Wyatt, does he ever just like go like hose in a closet and stuff? Cause I've had buddies who sleepwalk a little bit and they go like, remember Stephen Dixon? Yeah. He used to just like wake up in the middle of the night and like open his closet and hoses and in his own closet. That was something that he would do maybe when he had a few too many, but like, but like in a sleep walking state. So that's good that he's not hosing all over the house. What does he do? Does he go down and like grab snacks out of the pantry? He comes down and like sits in the bottom of the stairs and it's like talking to me, but I know based on what he's talking about. He's like Dale Doleback. That he, that he's asleep. Yeah. That must have been. Step brothers. And I'm Will Ferrell. And you literally, Hey, isn't it amazing? I'm sure every person with kids has like a puking story like that, but a kid's awareness of where a toilet is when they have to puke is zero. Like there is no chance it's going in the toilet. They could be three inches away from it. They turn the other way and puke it's bad. Oh yeah. And like I give, you know, the buddy bucket like that day, he just laid down all day, put the buddy bucket right there. If he had puked again, I mean, yeah, there's no chance it's going in that bucket. It's there, but it's, it's like, it's like a Christmas tree. It's just a decoration. You're the buddy bucket. I actually, yeah. In the kitchen, if they're in the kitchen, there's tile floor. They'll run over to the carpet area to make sure. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. 100%. Of course. Of course. Oh yeah. The couch cushions, those look nice. You would just on the toilet. Now that's the negative component to the whole daddy daycare this weekend. What were the highlights? Were there any like best? It's the best we got. We get, we built the fort in the basement, run around the fort. We got these like nerf like bow and arrow things that war like I'm like screaming freedom with the Nerf guns. Then we got like the hockey room and cows into the hockey room. But he makes me wear the Maple Leafs goalie mask. Yup. It's a Maple Leafs goalie mat. So granted, I'm just, I'm just getting lit up. I'm getting the sunburn on the back of my neck. And then, and then we also, what did we do outside? We were ripping it outside even though it was a little cold. Yeah. That's great. But Yoshi looks different than that dog. I really like that graphic guys. That's AI. No more AI. We're done with the AI. We don't want the haze. No, we're not. We're all, we don't want the haze. My life savings in AI. We're never every dolly's ever made put in the video. By the way, we have the page sporadic one coming out and this thing will be, you're going to see fucking her fucking AI boobs busted out of the screen. We're going to have everything AI and that one boys. That's a teaser. We might lose half our subscribers on YouTube, but we are going to be jam packed and loaded. We'll gain some creeps. Oh yeah. Yeah. The insoles will be flooding our mentions. Well, there are 50 guys that are members of that country club. They're going to be a little bit of trouble, I believe, when this thing comes out with their lives. Oh yeah. Talk about creeps. Jesus Christ. Put the rangefinders away guys. You ever seen a woman before? Yeah. Teaser, teaser central. That's Wednesday at two o'clock. That is Wednesday. Two o'clock Eastern. Can't wait for that. G was just at Boston University, my alma mater. They split with UVM this weekend. Not great, but they won the night G was there. And he says the video came out great. Sat down with Mike Ruzioni sat down with Jay Pandoffo. Got a beautiful look at a Ghana Serena. Look at Ruzioni. 1980 Olympic hero. The biggest goal in USA hockey history. Many say. Till this year. Just yeah. Till this year. Till this year. Biz. Hockey night in Canada. Wow. The locals. Yeah. That top of that. That was awesome. Here you go. Hockey night in Canada. Biz. I love the battle with the Canadians fans. Really going back and forth with them, huh? It does not take much. I just said like, because sometimes you get jammed up on how long your segment's going to be. So they said, hey, we're just going to have, because Elliot was dropping a bunch of news, which we'll get to. Like Elliot dropped a bomb. He stuck a dagger in the hearts of Canucks fans on that broadcast during the second intermission the other night. So when that happens and he drops that information, we only get about 15 seconds. So I said, you know what? I don't want to say I'm bored, but I kind of want to stir it up a little bit. Get the Leafs fans engaged. You know, it's one nothing. We're still in this thing. So I said, we're going to come back in this one and we're going to be drinking the Habs fans salty tears when we come back and win this in the third period. They tied it, went over time. Wasn't the result we wanted, but oh man, did they come fucking attacking on social media. Hate to interrupt this, your Leafs talk, but I got a little surprise for the boys. Let's bring them on in. Morgan. Wow. What's up? Morgan geeky, the hottest NHL score besides Nathan McKinnon, but he doesn't count. He's an alien. What is going on, buddy? How you doing? Not much guys. Thanks for having me on. I can't believe you're on, but I just saw this today on Twitter. So I'm going to forget the goal scoring, forget the sniping, the baseball glove gifts that you gave to your teammates. What an unreal idea. And shut up. Can we get that picture goes so hard. You always loved baseball and like this was your passion as a young kid, even more than hockey? I did. Yeah. I mean, I was like 13 in that picture. I was not very old and I had way more hair than, but no, I loved it. I mean, my dad made us play baseball all the time growing up. My middle brother, so Connor's in the Tampa Bay system and then my middle brother played college. So he was the only one of us three to make it in baseball. And I don't know. I feel like when guys sign a long-term deal, sometimes they do like the dinner or something else. I've seen a few gifts before. So I just try to get something that, you know, I enjoyed. And I thought they were sick. I was like, I bought one first and I was like, Oh, these are sweet. And it was actually my wife's idea. So it all worked out. It was good. Do you, do you guys, instead of maybe playing soccer before the games, you guys just think you'll start tossing the ball around? We have before actually, yeah. Laura, I mean, Mason have thrown it a bit. So we got that. We got the football. So all kinds of sports before the game. Was I reading that you, you actually, you tried out like before you ended up like really, really committing to hockey where around like 18 or 19, you tried to go the baseball route? Were you hoping to get like a scholarship in the States? Like what was your, your, your hopeful end game in baseball? Yeah. So I, I mean, the WHO draft was like stupid early. Like it's a year before you can actually play, which I still don't know why they haven't changed yet. But I skipped my first year, uh, Tri-City Americans camp to go, uh, see if I could get a scholarship for baseball. And I went to like nationals in, in Vaughan, Ontario. And it was like, we did very, we did really well. I played really well and was like, didn't get anything from that after I thought maybe I would. And after that, I kind of just stuck to hockey and turned out all right. But that was definitely my, my first law was baseball for sure. Wayne was a huge, huge baseball guy. He said the minute that the, the season would end, he'd put his hockey bag in the basement and it was all baseball. Do you feel like that's helped you? I mean, I see the way that you tip pox in the slots. Like it's had to have helped with your hand. I, yeah, I think so. I think my dad too is like a big, as soon as like, um, March or April hit. I mean, I played on like a naturalized rink growing up. So it's like once winter was over, like that was it for hockey. You didn't really have a choice. And baseball was what we kind of did all summer and me and my brothers in the backyard. So I definitely think that, uh, kids nowadays play way too much hockey growing up. So I mean, for me, I think playing baseball, I mean, we played everything, but for sure baseball was something that I, uh, we took a lot of pride in as a family for sure. Unreal. Morgan, this, uh, last year obviously having 30 plus goals. And then this year, like I just remember pasta saying, this guy can score 50 fucking goals. Like he needs to, was that something for you where you needed to hear somebody else say it? Especially a guy like pasta, when he's saying it, like to get that confidence, because the way you're going right now, 50 looks like it's going to happen pretty easily. Yeah. I mean, I don't know when he said it, I was kind of like, dude, that's pretty lofty goals. I mean, yeah, I don't know. They don't pay me enough to get 50. Yeah, I should have signed a one year deal. But, uh, no, I mean, it's, it's obviously great. I mean, he does stuff on the ice that like, if you think he's in a different league, he's like a part of those guys that's just like, you don't belong out there with him sometimes. So for me, it's just, yeah, I don't know. It means a lot. But I didn't really come into the league like trying to score goals and it just seems like everything's going in right now. So we'll see how long it lasts. But, um, yeah, I obviously appreciate it a ton. When it comes to goals, uh, even like Sweeney was talking about, like when they, when they ended up trading for you, it was your release. And I was actually reading something about how when you were growing up, you used to play with these heavy wood, sure wood sticks. I forget the name of the stick specifically, but that helped a lot with your like, not only your release, but your like forearm shake where, I mean, you're carrying around these fucking two by fours back then, probably because the, the, the one pieces and stuff were too expensive. Yeah. So, uh, my dad played in like the Allen cup. I mean, it used to be a big thing, at least where we were, and they used to have a team. It was like Ildeshane, which I actually don't know where it is, but, my dad played on, they went to Japan after they won the Allen cup and he used to play with Pat Faloon. He was like first round, first pick ever, I think, to San Jose. So they, they knew each other all growing up and like played against them with each other. And, my dad's a lefty and I'm a righty. So he had like no sticks. And obviously anybody's dad is trying to look for best bang for your box. So whenever Patty would just break a stick, he would just cut it down like to might height and then I would use it. And he had like the, the old stall curve. So it's basically just like a straight stick and, uh, or might be the jewelry, I guess same thing. But, um, yeah, I use those like all growing up. And then I think in my first, like real composite stick till probably I was like, well over 13. So I used wood ones forever. Like my dad would just go to the hardware store, buy 10 sticks for 60 bucks. And that was a preference. We're kids on the ice, like maybe chirping you a little bit. Like we're the, we're the only guy using a big wood one. Yeah. It was, uh, I was like, there was two rural kids, like from outside the city that played on like the brick team. It was me and my buddy. And I was the only kid that had the wood stick and everybody else had like the sick rebog. I think it was the East and the East and synergy, like the Z bubble, all those, they're unbelievable. I'm like, ask my dad, like, can I get one of these things? He's like, no, sir. So I stuck with my wood one. So I took some heat for it, but it's all right. That's all you said that you said, like, I will see how long this lasts. But at this point, it's quite evident you could score goals, right? Like somebody could have said that last year at some point, but even with pasta, you've continued to do it. And it was Carolina who put in the expansion draft, Seattle takes you and they give up on you. What do you think change? Is it something as simple as like opportunity? Or is there something that was very particular with you? I know actually, um, is it sick a let that you work with? He coaches in the same, uh, youth program as me, the boss, your attorneys in terms of your skills. Has that been a big thing? Been huge. Yeah. Uh, I started working with SIGs, uh, my second year in Seattle, I think, uh, just by happenstance, I kind of got connected with him through another buddy. And, uh, I mean, he's done worlds for me, like just trying to see the game a little differently. And I mean, everybody has a skills guy now, but it was tough. I mean, there I was playing like eight, 10 minutes a night and you're just trying to look for ways to stay in the lineup. So I mean, our clips are a little different now that I get to see, but, um, I mean, he was a huge help. I think opportunity was big. I mean, that was one of the reasons I came to Boston. Uh, you know, I mean, it was the best team in the regular season there the year before I got here. And then to have, uh, you know, Monty and, um, Berge and like just the, the alumni and the coaching staff that they had here is one of the reasons I came. And then, um, I think my role grew the first year that I was here and it's just kind of slowly grown. So I think opportunity is big. I mean, you see a lot of guys that are super skilled at just don't get an opportunity. So I think it's just like trying to seize that as best you can. Boys, you mentioned Cigillette. Uh, are, uh, is it the guy who, who played defense in the Bruin system at one point? Yeah. Okay. He got one game. Yeah. Okay. So he, so he turned into a skills coach. Is he, where is he now? He's here. He's in. Brody. Sorry. I didn't even interrupt. Oh, no, no worries. I did, because I actually worked with his brother when I was getting work, uh, worked on on my neck because he lives out in BC, doesn't he? Same family. He's unreal. Yeah. He's really good. Yeah. I believe he was, he helped cross me out when he was having all his concussions. So I didn't realize his brother turned into a skills coach. That's awesome. Morgan, you talked about, you know, just getting that opportunity. Are you having those conversations with your brother as well? Cause he's a guy, he's been up and down and just looking at, he looks like an NHL player, right? Like the way he skates around, he's got a big shot like you, but is, are those conversations you're having with him or are you trying to let him figure it out himself? Uh, I mean, a little bit of both. I mean, it definitely looks like he's got the tint advisor in the turtleneck in the black. He's swaggy dude. Yeah, he is. It's crazy. So I hear about him a lot, but, uh, he's good. I mean, I think he's kind of got to figure it out in his own. And I think there's like, obviously when you get sent down, I'll send him a text and stuff like that. But, he's a lot younger than I was at the time. So I mean, there's still a lot of runway and I think that he's playing, I think it's better to just play a ton in the NHL than try to grind it out. And it's tough in the NHL. Like, I mean, you guys have said it before, I'm sure, but it's not a developmental league. Like you come up here, you're expected to produce and, you know, if they're just going to play you eight minutes a night, it's tough to be impactful, especially when that's not where you're used to. And I just try to, you know, try to let him pave his own way and, and stay out of his way most time. So we talk a lot that's not really about hockey. It's been a pretty exciting year for the Bruins. And I'll tell you before the year, I'm like, yeah, they're horrible. They're going to be a lottery team. And, and I know for a fact, it was, it was probably something you guys were hearing, right? Like the expectations weren't high. But what was the message in the room? We've showed one clip of, um, oh my God, why am I blanking out your coach? Sturm, Sturm, giving you guys the business a little bit in the locker room at one point early in the year. But what has been like the overall message in McEvoy's out and pasta's out and it's been an impressive run so far with, for a team that the expectations really weren't there. Yeah. And I mean, uh, it's tough, especially last year, just the way that it ended. I mean, we kind of got rid of marshy. I mean, legend lives on here, but, uh, nice. It's, uh, it's good. I mean, we got rid of marshy, Brando and, and C's and Freddie and all those guys. So it's like, we kind of had nowhere else to go, but up, I think. And, and we definitely underperformed, I think, to our expectations at least with the group we have and with guys like Chuck and, uh, Pasta and Sway, like it's tough not to have a good team with that core group of guys. And I think Marco came in and right away it was just, you could tell that the flip kind of, or a switch kind of flipped. And we had a little bit of a learning curve. Obviously the system in Boston has been what it is for the last 20 years. And he made some changes and there was, you know, we started off a little slow and won a few in a row, but it's, it's good. I think for us as a team, like we're just trying to get backs playing Bruin's hockey. I think we've got away from it the last year and just being hard to play against. I mean, that our third and fourth lines, I'm glad I'm on this team and not the other team. So it's, uh, it's good. Oh, cause you guys got a bunch of mutants in your roster. Really, you should cast the like, Castellic, Janelle, uh, Z, dude, it's insane. Like Z must be a character in the room. Embarrassing. Z's gotta be the biggest character in the locker room. He's a soundbite. He is, he's the best. He hit the fastest defenseman in the NHL has skated this year the other day, or recently, I believe in, in, he was like going 23 miles an hour. I saw some clip of it. Now, maybe that's changed. I'm imagining, but I chirped his skating one time and I think he told Grinnelli tell Whitney to shut his mouth and I'll shut it for him that I can fucking move out there. Really, you should see him. I mean, when he gets going up the ice, uh, a couple guys start yelling Bobby for Bobby or, and dude, it's crazy. He starts spinning around and starts feeling himself a little bit, but he's the best. I mean, he can fly and he's been awesome for, especially with, with Chuck out and stuff. So, uh, he's an anchor back there, but he's, he's great. He's all time. I told these guys, I used to, I feel terrible for Chuckie with that video. I, oh, go ahead, Jens. No, I was just said about Z, like, uh, I was telling these guys, uh, because I used to skate with him. He lives in Florida in the summertime and he has insane skills, especially for how big he is. And I'm glad he's like putting it, even last game, he had a couple plays by the net. He goes to his backhand, like he is super skilled for a mutant. Yeah, he is really good. It's, you wouldn't expect it, but I mean, he gets a puck on a stick every once in a while, and he can definitely make some plays. That, uh, that Chuckie video, him getting that puck in the mouth, I thought it was AI when I first saw it. It was so brutal. I mean, I think I read that he's lost 20 pounds so far. Like, I mean, that's just a devastating loss for you guys, but how, how is his spirits around the locker room now that he's a little bit more back in the mix? Oh, that's huge. I mean, I'm sure you guys know him, but he's like super happy, go lucky guy. He's great to be around all the time. And, uh, obviously the kind of player he is that, that sucks. But I mean, we fell for him like as a person. I mean, you don't want to see that happen to anybody in the league level on one of your, one of your best friends or teammates. So it's great. I mean, we've seen him back. He's back on the ice with us and joking around. He's got the, uh, the all-American bubble back. So, uh, he's kind of feeling himself, thinks he's back at BU, but, uh, it's good. We're, uh, we're happy to have him back. How about like, I'm reading right now that, uh, close to a year ago, a fan tweeted you that you should be cut and you wrote, damn bro, tell me how you really feel and you have the most goals in the NHL since then. Like you just, did you have enough of the trolls coming at you? Buy him a glove. Yeah. Uh, yeah. I mean, I don't know. Everybody has an opinion on Twitter and it's like, I think they feel like we're untouchable sometimes. So they can say whatever they want. And I mean, uh, I'm sure the guy probably loves it because it, I think it went pretty viral after I did it. Uh, but I mean, yeah, I don't know. I just think people think that we're not real humans sometimes I think and like, we don't see that stuff. And for me, it's like, I understand it's all a joke completely and I'm where I am and they were there. They are where they are. Um, but I mean, it's just, it's all fun. I mean, I watch biz go at it with people on Twitter all the time. So it's, it's entertaining to say the least. Yeah. But you don't see him crying in his bedroom when it's all done. Yeah, that too. That too to suck in my thumb. But they were actually right. Do you ever think about not checking it though? Do you ever think about just, Hey, like, maybe I just don't read this because I know some athletes like being on it and active in summer, like I can't, Keith never read anything. Because I can't read. I mean, some days, I mean, kind of just depends on the kind of mood I'm in, I think. Oh yeah, this one is crazy. I remember that. That was over the monster hit. But yeah, I mean, it's just like one of those things that I don't know if you're on Twitter, I feel like with like the algorithm, whatever it is now you see stuff and you don't want to see it anyway. So you're kind of just faced, you faced a, your course to face it. So I mean, it is what it is. Obviously you have a tough game, try to stay away, but yeah, it's all in good fun. I was just going to ask you about considering you're a huge baseball guy, you must have been all over that blue jays run. Oh, dude, red socks. I mean, yeah, say red socks. Yeah. I, we went to a red socks game. I mean, best case was the red socks beat the Yankees and we were, I was going for sure. But I mean, dude, they had so many chances to win that series. Like it was just like tough to watch like as a Canadian, it's crazy what, what blue jays do like as a country for Canada. But I mean, yeah, we watched every inning, every game it was, it was so fun, but hopefully we'll be back, be back next year. You signed the day before free agency, right? Was it June? I think so. Yeah. So how do you decide like, Hey, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna go into tomorrow and see what happens. And I love Boston. Is that kind of maybe what it came down to? Like, because there were rumblings for a while. Like how have they not signed him? It was confusing to everyone. And then boom, it got done. And you obviously have the man where that runs the NHL, Judd Moldaver. So kind of take me through the signing of the contract and, and figuring out that you wanted to be a broon for a long time. Yeah. I mean, it kind of went, it felt like it took a long time. We talked a little bit honestly, the before the season started. And then as the year progressed, obviously, I didn't start very well. And the team didn't get off to a very good start and we had a coaching change. So I think it kind of just took the backseat and then things started to pick up for me personally. And then, you know, as the off season went, it was just one of those things that like slowly got done. And, you know, I told Judd that, that I wanted to be a broon. This is where I wanted to be. And that was the main thing for me. I mean, I'm sure you could maybe pick and choose at that point. But for me, it was like, this is where I wanted to be. This is the first place I felt like a part of something you start to get to know the guys a little better. And as a guy that's been on, you know, three teams of four is 25, it's tough to lay down your roots with a family and stuff. So for me, just, you know, six years is a long time here. And obviously the core group of guys they have is great. So, you know, coaching staff organization, I can't say enough about plan for them. So yeah, just super happy and happy that it got done here for sure. You've made a coup in the rest of the coaching staff's life, very difficult on decision making for team Canada. How much does that consume your brain? Like you're, you've scored the most goals in this calendar year in the NHL. Like you feel like you've proven that you deserve to be on that team? I don't know. I mean, stats wise, maybe, but like I said, I've said it earlier, like I look at the roster as like a fan. And I'm like, holy shit, these guys are like, whose spot are you going to take? Really? And for me, it's like, I go up and down and everybody's a world-class player. And it's just like, I don't know. I'm a big fan of these guys as everybody else's. And like, so for me, it's just like, I don't know. I don't really see like, I'm not putting a ton of weight on it. You know, obviously it's getting a little, it's getting close to like December, whenever they need the rosters in. So I mean, you see it a little bit more now, but I'm not, it's not something that I think about every day. And I mean, I'll be just as excited to watch cheer for Canada on my couch somewhere else, but I mean, stoked either way. If you send me a baseball glove, I'll keep promoting you. Yeah. Since you're a humble guy, we'll promote you even more. And I think, you know, there's only, you know, two or six guys that can play your top two lines, right? And you're a guy that has worked his way up to a first liner, you know what it takes to play on the bottom six. So I think it's a no brainer, the way that you're scoring, like you don't just score goals by accident. So I think it'd be crazy if you weren't on the team. So we will do some serious promoting for you if you want us to. No, I mean, I would love that. Thank you guys. It's, I mean, yeah, it's just one of the, I'm sure everybody would, they're doing anything to be on that team. I mean, I had opened doors and fill water bottles to just be on the Canadian team. So I mean, that's what I did for everybody would, would say the same. But yeah, however it would be on, however I'd fit, you know, I'd find a way to make it work. If I were you though, and you're so modest, but I would look at it like, man, just the fact that I'm like being mentioned, and all of a sudden there's a lot of people saying like, this guy should be on the team. Like for me, that would be the coolest part. Like, because when you leave Seattle, you come to Boston, like if somebody told you that this was going to happen a few years later, you'd be like, yeah, are you smoking? What business smoking? No, I mean, that kind of feels like where I'm at right now. It's just like, I don't, I never expected this. Like I wasn't, I don't know, I never played World Juniors. I never, I got one World Championship where I opened the door for everybody and drank a ton of beer and it was so, it was tons of fun. But I mean, yeah, trust me, like I appreciate all of it. And it's super humbling to like just experience this and to go through this, you know, whichever way it ends up. And yeah, like you said, I feel like I've kind of played up and down the line up and done a little bit of everything. So I just try to help out wherever I could. I don't know if it's just more recently where you're not getting as many like backdoor tapens because Pasta was out of line up, but I noticed you've been great at like tipping pucks in. Was that something that you've gotten better at? Or were you always pretty good at tipping pucks in the slot? I think I kind of just picked it up. I mean, honestly, I've worked a lot more on it this year. Like Steve Spots, our powerplay coach. And every day after practice, he's grabbing us to do stuff like that and just kind of switching things up. Obviously, our powerplay is doing pretty well this year. But I think we're all pretty interchangeable and predictable. But for me, it's like, that's like one of those athletic things that I think like you either have it or you don't. Like obviously, it's a skill you can work on. But I mean, Pavelsy did it forever and look at how good of a golfer he is. Like, I mean, all things translate like that. So for me, it's just like, you just got to be an athlete and just try not to overthink it. You mentioned Steve Spots. Was that was that you pumping your own golf game there quickly? Was that you saying that? No. Okay. All right. No, I was just checking. Sorry. He's falling golf usually don't translate very well, but no way over the top. Yeah. I'm over the top. But you mentioned Spotter, who's an awesome guy and your power, the Bruins powerplay, it's struggled for a while. And this year, it's fifth. And, and, you know, he comes in, that has to be a big part of it. What is he? What is the message he's telling you guys? Like, what has changed with that? I think just be predictable. I mean, we got Chuck and we got, you know, pasta, two great, you know, skilled guys and then powerplay. And then, you know, I feel like we just have, we have all the tools to be a good powerplay. And I think, at least last year, we were just never on the same page. It's like, we'd go try to run something and someone else to be in the wrong spot. And so now it's like, we go in, we have a plan. We understand everybody knows what you're going to do. And it's like, it's just predictable. I mean, you see that with like the other good powerplayers like Vegas, they've got Stone and Hurdle and Eichel, like all these guys know where each other are going to be. So it's like, you try to watch those guys, same with Dallas, everybody's got their own kind of skill set. I think for us, you know, we might be a little more meat and potatoes, but I think we have the skill to make plays and just being able to be on the same page with everyone is huge. What's it like being in Boston? You know, like the beginning of your career, you were kind of, I don't want to say, and this is no knock, like you weren't who you are now. And yeah, I'm sure walking around Boston, you're getting recognized all these people. I was just talking to my nephew, he's seven years old. I told him we were interviewing, he's like, he's my favorite boy. And like, so like, people loved you, right? Like, how is that as a change? And it must be awesome to, you know, be a part of that. Yeah, I mean, trust me, I came into this league being a nobody less than a nobody. So I actually had a sick first game. I did have a really good first game. But after that, I mean, yeah, it's super cool. I mean, I've seen it a few times and it's such a sports town. I mean, you feel it everywhere here, like the Pats are good. Celtics won a championship. Celtics are good. I mean, it's just a different city. I mean, you guys all know, but to like, you know, walk down the street and you know, somebody just says good season or whatever, how little it may be, it's super cool to be a part of that. And I mean, New England sports is like second to none. I don't think so. It's just super, super special and glad I can be a part of it for a little while. What was your first NHL game? What'd you do? I played pit two and one. Oh, what up, Sid? You're like Canadian Olympic team 2026. Here I come. And I was right before COVID. That was like the last game before COVID. Oh, fucking, and they shut you down. Shut it down. That goes. Wow. Fuck, that actually really could have mattered with you, right? If that like, then you take that huge break and they're looking at rosters. That's a kick in the deck. I didn't know that. Yeah. I mean, it could have went, I always looked at it like it could have went either way. I mean, you start out really hot, cool off. And I mean, you can only go down from there. So it's like, you give them no choice to look at it. Like all this kid set three points in his first game. It might be okay. So, Do you go back to Manitoba every summer? We actually moved to Calgary. So we were out there. Now we train. I train at the edge school. It's just just west, the number one of the city. And I go back probably like a couple weeks in the year. My brother got married in Alberta this year. So we didn't get to go back. But normally we go back for a couple, couple weeks in the summer. Like, what do you, what do you do with your off time? Do you like the gas beers? Like, are you like beer? Love playing. Love playing. Long toss. Yeah. I mean, I love, my brother actually coaches at the baseball academy there. So I love, we love going to games there and being around that. I love to go to more, but honestly, not a whole lot. We, we just built the house actually outside of Calgary. So that's kept us busy for a couple, couple years now. But yeah, I do, I do enjoy golf. Not very good, but it's fun. Are you the one making the decisions on like the tile, the faucets, or you just delegate that? Fuck that shit. No, I did not touch a single option. My wife's like, unbelievable. Just write the checks. Yes, exactly. If you don't make Team Canada, we're hoping you do. What island will you be at for eight days? That's the thing. I have no idea. I've been, we've been looking. I mean, I kind of want to go. I know it's super unexciting, but like up like to Vermont or Maine, I think it'd be so beautiful. Like in February, it might be a little chilly, but just to kind of get away from everything, but it's pretty close to Cabo too. So who knows? Well, Baze, you got anything else for this guy? No, this is awesome, dude. Great getting to know you and congrats on all your success. It's a pleasure watching you. And like what said, I think people thought, Oh, an old boss is not there anymore. Maybe things will slow down, but you're still going at the same rate, dude. You're a dog. And I really hope you're able to represent your country. And if not, have a fun time in Maine. Awesome. Thank you guys. No, I appreciate it. See you, buddy. What a guy. Yance. Great work. Great get, Yancey. Holy shit, man. You look like the sticky bandits coming in there. It's kind of crazy that a lot of kids play other sports, but he actually was like, no, I want to play baseball. Like he was trying to go for, he really loved it more than hockey. So it probably worked out, worked out for the best considering he signed for 33 million this summer. I think if the Red Sox called him to be a bullpen catcher, he'd leave the Bruins. That's how much he loves it. Oh, wouldn't you though? Bullpen catcher sounds sick. I don't know what they make. The backup catcher, I guess is probably even better. Yeah. Or relief pitcher. That would be the best job in baseball. If you could be a bullpen catcher for like 20 years. I'm sure there's guys who have done it for that long. Yeah. You know how you can go see a bullpen catcher live in an action? No. Game time. Game time. Now it actually says to maybe talk about something that made you a fan. I remember getting brought to a Bruins Montreal, Canadian's playoff game. I think I was around 10. And it was more just the vibe of the Boston Garden. I was like, I want to play in the NHL so bad. The Bruins won, Ray Bork scored, did a huge pump, and I remember walking out the whole stadium chanting, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, and it was just, I was like, oh, my God, playing in this league, went outside, cause waste tree, people are jumping on the cars. So it was just incredible. That's going to a game and experience something firsthand is so special and can create a fan for the rest of their lives. So those are the type of moments game time is celebrating. Go to 12daysofgametime.com today for a chance to experience one of these moments. Speaking of the God and RA was there yesterday watching the Shorzy. Ryder skated in intermission. No way. I texted. I couldn't go because Bree wasn't back and, you know, I'm, I'm dad of the year and, but I texted RA. I don't, I was like, Hey, my son skating at one of the intermissions. If you can go find him. And I told, I know he's smoking a ball with him. I told Ryder. I'm like, Hey, guy work with, it's going to be there. His name's RA. He's the coach of the Shorzy team. And he's like, why is his name RA? I was like, we'll get into that in a couple years. It's just RA. It's just, you can call him Brian, but it's RA. Don't worry about why he's called RA. But kids ask a million questions. There was a, I think there was 11,000 people there. Oh yeah. They draw really well. They're doing like basically every, are like the main alumni groups. Like they did Toronto. I know they went and did LA. So the ones who have really strong alumni associations, they're going to play against them. And typically I think they close the upper bowl and they pack the whole lower bowl, right? So yeah, they're doing awesome. And it's a good little thing to get out and see all the fans. And of course you get Terry Ryan on the mic. And usually every game they have a scrap like there was a couple different scraps. Yeah. I asked Ryder, I was like, cause I heard Char was playing. I was like, was Char out there? He's like, yeah, but he, he had to leave the game. He heard his back, which I mean, there's a 10% truth to that cause Ryder is just kind of like, but I, I have no idea if that happened. He's like, yeah, I'll five S one dad. Like, oh yeah, we know what that, we know that is around here. These parts. Um, Biz, you mentioned, uh, an Elliott Friedman bomb and I was watching and, and the city of Vancouver, man, I've, I've, I've gone to battle with those people, but oh, I feel sick for him. I feel sick for him. Um, Elliot mentions that there have been a ton of discussions about Quinn Hughes, including New Jersey calling him. And I think what really set the flames even higher was that when asked about it after Quinn Hughes called Tom Fitzgerald fitzy and I, I mean, I saw some hilarious tweets basically like you're talking about your own GM and contract negotiations. It seems as though the days, the days are numbered and it's just, it's sickening for Canucks fans. You got one of the greatest defensemen I've ever seen. You have that run, in the second round game seven, you're up three, two against the oiler. The team looks great. And now I'm, I think it's fair to say it's only a matter of time till Quinn Hughes is, is gone. You do. I mean, the only thing that they can hope as Vancouver fans is they get a haul back from, which obviously they will, but they need something and they need a lot of it. You never get, when you trade a guy like that, you never get what do you think? What do you think they're asking for from them? Like I'm, I'm hearing rumblings that it's, it's the leaf, the leaf, certain strong contention to get good. Stop, stop. Stop. Are you, are you just making this up? If you're hearing real rumblings, I'll talk to you right now, but I feel like you're just making, you're making it up. Making it up. We need, we need an offensive defense. No, but in fairness, I saw some tweet about Philly being like, Oh yeah, that's to me, that was probably at the one of the top of the list because it talks, here's the thing. And, and what I saw was said is that Philly believes that they can get them and then kind of flip them, change his mind to have them sign long term there. I don't know the Hughes, Hughes brothers at all, but I'm telling every other team, you cannot trade like he's signing in New Jersey. Like, am I crazy? There's no way he's not going to sign there. I would trade Meechkov straight up for, for Quinn Hughes in a second. Do you think that they would take that as a one for one? Or do you think they're going to want more? Cause he's got a year and a half left. You know, he's not coming back. Would you just rather have Meechkov on this year on entry level, you got him next year on entry level. And hopefully he turns out to what you'd expect. But with the way that him, you know, he showed up in training camp the way he did. I, I agree with you with like, I think that he could be a, you know, maybe a point per game player, but I don't, he doesn't move very well. And that would scare me for, welcome to the terror dome. No, buddy. It's not even that. Like if anyone with a brain is just watching, like he does not have a long fluid stride. He has a choppy stride. And like that's not, what does everybody talk about how you can be an elite player in the league now? You have to be able to skate. That's not something that's just, that's the only way it's not going to change overnight. Like it just, I don't know if he's got that hip mobility where he can just like a good, he doesn't look like McKinnon, like a gazelle through the middle of the ice. Right. You got to be, I think he can get, I think he could be a 40, 40 guy, like, sure. He was the sixth overall pick, right? Like, sure, dude, that is a fucking elite level NHL player. I just mentioned sometimes that he doesn't skate like, you know, yeah, you say Quinn Hughes, that's a, that's a defesit. He doesn't skate like McKinnon. He doesn't skate like McDavid, like not everyone does, but there is a difference watching him. He's hunched over, incredibly skilled. But in terms of one for one, I think Vancouver still wants more, but Philly's got to be like, if they somehow do this, it's like, you could think you can switch him and flip him and make him sign there. There's no way maybe Detroit he would, but I just, how in the hell is that guy not going to sign in Jersey when he's able to, like his brothers are there. What are we talking about? Yeah, but, but okay. So then, then the conversation of, is that good for Luke Hughes? Like, why did you just pay Luke Hughes 9.5 million? Like Luke's been struggling a little bit this year. Hey, still young, plenty of runway left. You know, they've, they're, they're, the team's struggling in general right now. Haven't they lost five in a row? So like, they can't score all of a sudden, you just paid this kid who was supposed to be your power. All, all posh has been doing is going underneath the hood, bringing out the Juergens and the Kleenex and jerking off to his power play analytics. So why don't we get that guy on here to talk about how good it would be for him. I was going to say, where is he? He's probably losing it right now. He's going to look disheveled. Why are you shaking your head like that? What's happened to Luke? He ain't going to be playing on the power play. It's going to be Quinn's power. I'm shaking my head like that because you're not wrong. And the team's in fucking shambles and I just, wow. All that took was a five game losing streak to humble this guy. He's growing up. Bravo, Pasha. Unbelievable. And Pasha, like, I actually disagree with you, Biz, a little bit, because if you're saying if, if, if Quinn Hughes ever becomes a devil, like, why did you sign Luke Hughes to nine and a half? Like, I think if you have an incredible puck moving defense and Luke Hughes has had his struggles and he grows into being better defensively and he doesn't run the first power play, you're still loving life. Now, maybe him personally, he would be like, Oh, I'm never going to be the first power play guy and get 65, 70 points. But you're with your brothers. You're on an incredible team. If that actually happens, I don't think they'd care. Well, the only way would make sense is if they're able to get Hamilton off the books, because you can't have Quinn, Hamilton and Luke Hughes, they're all making over 8 million. I think two of them would be making nine. All right. Does Hamilton make nine and a half at this point? Yeah. Hamilton makes nine. Yeah. Hamilton's, his days are numbered. So I think when he's gone, I don't think it's crazy to have two kind of elite D-men like that. You know, you put one of them with Pesci, the other one with Segan Thaler. And listen, we got Bouchard and Ners. Wow. I mean, hey, but what if they're that skilled, which obviously we know they are, Luke and Quinn, why can't they both be on the power play? They used to be 2D on a power play. Quinn is basically a forward. Exactly. Like, remember, Neeta Meyer back in the day in Anaheim, it was him in Prong or Neeta Meyer would just go around the zone wherever the fuck you wanted. Like, there's no law that you can't have 2D out there. Yeah, there is. Toronto has it. Toronto has zero D. Yeah. And I think like whatever, like less opportunity Luke might have because of Quinn arriving is offset by the fact that his fucking brother is joining the team. So, yeah, I think that's kind of a non-factor, but like you said, Luke has been struggling. It's kind of been hard to watch. Okay. So what, what are they giving up here? We got to talk about what, what would New Jersey possibly give up where, where, uh, Vancouver would entertain the idea of trading that. So I kind of see both sides where it's like, why would they give up the farm when there's a very, very good chance they can sign them for nothing in the year and a half? But then I also see like the time to one is now go get them. I see both sides. So that's why I have a hard time seeing the devils topping some other teams offers just because of what I just mentioned. So in terms of what it would take, I really would prefer not to part with Nemitz. Um, fucking give him five first round picks. I just like the time to win is now. I don't care about first round picks. Give him KC, give him two first, give him that six, seven defenseman, silly of, um, you know, Gritsuke, not, no, not Gritsuke. That kid is the real fucking deal. He's a forever, he's a forever devil. That kid, if you look at his under the hood numbers, I thought he might come in via one dimensional like sniper Russian. You're going to have to give up something. Why? I will two first, shameless KC, silly of that's, that's a lot right there. No. And I'll even add on top of that. But like just now, I think they got to keep Nemitz. Do you agree with me that if Detroit or Philly or whoever else gave this ridiculous offer so that they could have him half of this year and all of next year, that they're crazy because no matter what, he's going to Jersey. Or maybe there's a thought of him. Do you think there's a thought that he could be like, no, I will sign here. I like it depending on how it goes, I guess. I don't know. Anything's possible. And so much can change between now and then. Like who knows? I don't think anything is for sure. But yeah, I think it's worth it for those teams to take a swing on him and see what happens. I actually, like Biz said, I know he made it up completely, but I've been saying the Leafs as a team I could see him going to for quite a while now as a kind of a, because they need a puck moving guy. Do they have the assets without giving up nines? I don't know if they do. But I mean, I think anything could happen. I wouldn't say it's like for sure he's going to Jersey. I would say it's likely and fucking the thought of that makes me salivate, but I don't think it needs that in stone. Detroit's the one that like being from Michigan, I guess maybe that, and how bad Detroit needs him. Also shout out Cider. Talk about under the hood. I'm seeing that he's one of like, the, if not the best, one of the best defensive defensive in the NHL now. So and then Ed Vinson, the way he plays like that would be the almost the perfect fit. But Quinn Hughes, I really, I have people think I'm being sarcastic. I feel brutal for Canucks fans. That's socks, man. What an abomination of a friend. Why? Why you started start to rebuild quicker? They have so many assets. The rebuild. Well, they should have started 10 years ago and what made you think they're gonna start it now? If history is any indication, they're going to try and fucking slap lipstick on a pig, slap a bandaid and be relevant again in one or two years. What makes you think that now all of a sudden they're going to rebuild after 10 years of having because I'm hearing rumblings that Akalini put it in Rutherford's hands and he said, no chance. No chance. I think he's pretty hands on. I don't know. He's his hands. He's brun in it. He's basically on the first back. Jimmy's no spring chicken. So he's trying to like when keep his job, you think Jimmy's gonna sign up for a seven year rebuild? I think the Cox are going to fucking do what they always do and try and be relevant to the game a year or two and it's going to fucking keep them up at the pack room and he's getting free. Elise's stakes every night. I'd sign up for a seven real seven year I'm reading. I'm reading the chat. I just wanted to go to the chat here to see like I had to see what the chat was saying like apparently Quinn and Larkin are best friends. Is that true? Like maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe he's like, maybe he's like, I'm going to go somewhere and bury my brothers whenever we play the devil's like, maybe I'm wrong on all this. I just think of the who's saying Detroit. I think Detroit's been free. Elliot Friedman has been mentioning now. I think he did. Okay. They have a lot of assets. Obviously he lives there. So there's that obvious connection. I could see that. Yeah. Wow. I wonder what your Nux fans would want from Detroit. So Elliot said that like our priority is they want a sentiment back. So that's why I think like Detroit's got that Marco Casper Jersey doesn't really have that. Yeah. Like devils have Mercer, but he's better as a winger to be quite frank. And I also think they kind of need winger. So Detroit, I think is set up if they wanted to with the assets that could not spoil. Yeah. Elliot Friedman pointed out post game because like Vancouver as depleted as they are and how pathetic they look, they worked their fucking bags off. But like the other night, you went and looked through their centermen. Like I don't even know if I could tell you one name of their centermen who played the other night. The one kid actually played really well. He had two goals, right? He's, uh, Biekse was talking about him on the post game, how he gets really low on the, on the, on the Basie, his bottom hand on the draw gets down towards the blade. I think he was 88% in the faceoff circle the other night on hockey night in Canada. Um, in that one, when they beat, who the fuck did they beat? They beat someone for one Minnesota. Yeah. That was the first goal that that wall step has allowed against a Canadian team all season long. I was just forward. You had a hundred and a hundred say they were supposed to roll like I know Vancouver and they lose for one. Yeah. Now knowing the Knarks, they're going to win six or seven and then fucking end up with that. Mushroom middle again. They can't do anything right. So wow, Quinn Hughes boys. So you are under over three weeks. Is he gone? Under over three weeks. Say it. I think longer than that. Longer than three weeks. Well, it's funny because like if you're, if you're, if you're not the devils, you got to get them as long as you possibly can. If you are worried about, right? Like if you get them in a week, two weeks, three weeks, all right, you get the rest this year and next year. But if you're way to the deadline, then it's like, all right, imagine Dallas comes storming in with the Sagan money. Now I don't think they have what it takes to give it, give it up. I'm trying to think of teams with money because the one thing about the devils, I think Elliot said this is that it's dollar in like dollar out. They have no cap space. So you have no cap space and listen, I've been defend a staunch defender of fitzy for a long time now and devil's Twitter has really turned on him and they're really, you know, fire fitsy fire fitsy. I will say fitsy's going to do something. I've said it for quite a while now. This team needs a three C. They need a top six winner and you can't just rely on, oh, we get one injury. Everything falls apart. So I was not happy this summer with fitsy not getting shit done. But I said, you know what, as long as he gets it done before the deadline, but now with all these injured fucking, he sure Meyer and brat didn't skate today and they're saying Meyer and brat might not play tomorrow. Like what the yeah, but posh. So that's where I disagree with you. I think that if they have to give up Nemitz, get rid of them because if you're fitsy and you don't do anything of relevance in the next two years, he's not going to have his job anyway. What the fuck do you care about Nemitz? If you're getting back Quinn Hughes, you basically have until the end of next year. So I would sign, seal and deliver that on the way out and do everything I can. And then the, I think they were also saying that they're kicking tires on trying to get Stamco's somebody stand for fuck that. I don't know. So listen, I would give up Nemitz to Vancouver, but they'd have to take Dougie Hamilton off the books for me. And the other, you have no move though. Does Dougie have no move? Yeah. And that's one thing fitsy has been critiqued for is like, you see all these GMs of good teams getting rid of good or bad contracts and throwing in picks for other teams to do it. Like how he's not been able to do that with Pallott at the very least for that six million. Like who cares about picks? Sweeten these deals, get these contracts off the books so you can free yourself up to fucking make a big swing. So I will say turning on fitsy. I don't get it posh turning on him. I'm not turning on him because I love what he's done. And everyone's like, he doesn't make big moves. Two years ago, he got team of my at the deadline. The reason the last two years he hasn't made big moves is because the team has been decimated. He's like, well, we're not doing shit without Jack. Why, why go all in? So I'm not one of those guys that it blames him for the last two deadlines. The time is now to make moves. No Stamco's too old, too slow. There's a reason breeze ball let him go. It's not Stamco's, but same team. Ryan O'Reilly. I would love Ryan O'Reilly. That would be, that would be a perfect fit for the devils and devil's fans all over fitsy. Like, I don't know. I have a hard time blaming him when they looked unreal this year before the injuries. Like they now granted, like maybe they're almost mad. He has guys who are so injury prone, but to me that's crazy. That is they look, they looked as good as any team. They looked like Colorado at the beginning of the year. You should be giving them protein shakes and tell them to hit the weights in the summer enough with the fucking ice. I think if fitsy's not there, then this, this deal isn't getting cause from the sounds of it, it sounds like Quinn likes fitsy. And like this deal might not be even getting talked about if he's not there. No, that fits. He's got no, no, it's the brother. Like, come on, it's Jack. I don't know. Might be fit. The fit. It's not his fault with the injuries, but I think he needs to set the team up better in the case of injuries to be able to absorb that better. If you had a three C, if you got that guy in the summer, if you had another winger in the summer, the injuries wouldn't fucking cripple the team as much as they have. So I'm still team fitsy, but he's got to make a move. So G coming in here, uh, go back with the flyers. They have 9.7 million in cap space this year and 46 million next summer. So that is a team who could do it a lot more seamlessly where there, it doesn't have to be money out situation. So, uh, and, and then he's also saying that he's very close with Trevor Zegris. I don't know if friendship with Trevor, not as close as your fucking brothers. Yeah. So, but a thank, thanks for the tidbits G. And I know we went long on this, but this is like a, this is a blue chip defenseman that's available guys. This is going to move the needle. This is a superstar available and early in the season. And this is the type of drama that we needed on today's podcast. So Pasha, any final words? I do want to say fucking just reading this outline here. G just guy does not know Pock. He said the Bruins had their way with the devil Saturday. If you watch the game, the devil's completely throttled on the whole game. They had a couple of bats. But like they did not have their way with the devil's. It was, it was a one goal game until two minutes left. So G stay hot. I think he wrote, I think he wrote that to get your reaction. Yeah. So you're saying G doesn't know Pock, right? Well, I've said that for a while. Yeah. Now, right now, Columbus and New Jersey are their neck and neck and stand. Columbus hasn't missed Jack Hughes, Brett Pesci and Heather goddamn Hughes. Hey, hey, hey, doesn't matter. Let's go back and look at any one of Pasha's predictions from this past year. They've all been God awful. Name one, name one. Name one G. Columbus. Columbus right there. You just said he said Columbus was going to be an awful hockey team this year. They look better than his New Jersey devils. And another thing too is, is they, they were decimated by injuries last year and they still put up a better fight than the devils. So Pasha doesn't think Pasha, you don't think injuries are like, you're just like, Oh, it's injured. They're injured. They're injured. It's like at some point, if they're always injured, that's who you are. I mean, I mean, yes, that's, that is fair. But I'm saying one healthy. These two teams are not the same league. So I stand by that Columbus. Yeah. And when it doesn't puke in my mouth, I get a great night's sleep. Like, do you think that the, do you think that the devils, maybe you should get them like a team gift card to like West Garden so they can go get like good massages and some releases or something, just like, so they're not getting as injured as much. Yeah. Massage. Okay. I'll consider that. What do you mean? I'm sure they have a team. Colby beef. Okay. It's a, it's rest as a weapon. That's what, what's his name you should say all the time. Peter Sakura. Pasha, did you, did you appreciate Jack Hughes's new, what just came out today that he's partnering up with like a local doctor's office? Yeah. He partnered with like a health company. I thought that was pretty ironic. I don't know about the timing of that announcement. What do you make of the fact they haven't won a game since you won the date with Tate McCray? I'm not entirely sure that's true, but if it is true, he's got a gasser. We're talking about putting the league. We got to get the league numbers up and you want him to get. I don't care about devils numbers. I don't care about league numbers. Damn. Gas his girl right now. If you told him it meant that like Meyer played tomorrow and the devils won like he's breaking news. Tate's getting sent to Vancouver as part of the trade to bring in Quinn. Wow. Package deal. Unbelievable. All right. Love wins. Have a great one. You too. I got a real problem. You guys with this hand pass review system going on. Now let me, let me get out in the open. I've had people fury like so angry with me that I'm like, are you really this angry that I didn't know that you could review a hand pass? Like, sorry guys. I missed the rule. Like have I ever said I'm a genius? Maybe. Monday quarter now. Like I, I wasn't, I didn't, I don't know. Maybe I did know and I forgot, but we're watching the game. Oh, incredible game Thursday night between Tampa and Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh goes up three nothing. Tampa comes flying back, makes it three, three Pittsburgh goes up four, three. The puck gets rimmed around the boards. Brandon Hagel basically protecting his teeth from getting like McAvoy by the puck. The puck hits his hand and it goes over to somebody who gives it the Kutrow tie game. They review it. We were at coast to coast as they review it. I said, there's no way. There is no chance that this goal is getting called back for a hand pass. Like what is the, the, what is the intent, the, the, the actual rule. Like I'm talking, you're sliding it with your hand. It's a hand pass. If we're now going to like protecting yourself and it hits the back of your glove and you're calling that a hand pass only for two days later, the same exact thing happens with the Florida Panthers against Columbus. Actually, in my opinion, the Marshall one was worse. He legitimately tries to grab the puck and he misses it, but it does hit his hand, right? What the fuck are we doing? They said it was a deflection. So here's the kicker. So if, if you're the coach for the Columbus blue jackets and hopefully we can actually roll this clip after I'm done talking about it. I think TSN was the one who posted it. It was Dean Eveson getting asked about a post game. He wanted to fucking snap. Okay. He wanted to kill someone. He did everything he could to avoid a fine, but then like bring it to that limit. But so he's seeing that call and he's saying, well, obviously it's, you know, it's, they just made it four or two. I might as well fucking calm things down by calling this because it's clear if they called the other one the other night, they're going to reverse this. So it goes, they sent it to Toronto or however they review it and then they don't call it back. And then on top of that, they get a penalty and then fucking Florida makes a four, three on that power play. So they get the two banger. So obviously he's livid, but I agree with Dean Eveson here. You just set the standard. And on top of that, there was one prior one in the, in the season with Matheson that they showed on sports net and Elliot had the full rundown where he legit goes to make a poke check. The puck comes up and it hits Matheson's glove and bounces away. This one is like the least intentional glove pass of all time. Like if you had a poster child for what shouldn't be called a hand pass, it would be that. And then they called the goal back. So the fact that they don't call the Marchie one back, this is the response you get from a head coach in league and rightfully so. Team prides itself on defensive hockey seven against tonight. What do you count that to? He's so mad. All game was a joke. That's what I counted too. And what way? Every way. Tire game was a joke. Did it start with that challenge on the hand pass? It's a joke. An absolute joke. That game was where, where, where it was at. How do you guys bounce back from, from the game like this? Our guys are great. Our guys have no issues. They know what happened. It'll be good tomorrow night. We'll play hard. We played hard all night. We played great. We, uh, we played great. Game was a joke. I could see his staff like in the back room, like have it ready. Have it ready. Walks in. You just chuck him a bottle of pink when he's like, that'll start punching the wall. That's the only thing that could soothe his pain. And he was fuming. I know these guys at the league are trying to get it right, but they got to have a little pow wow here and have a conversation. I don't know if it's different guys in that room that didn't see the one from the game before. I don't know if there's an email that gets sent out. Hey guys, make sure you watch this week. We ended up reversing this goal call, but basically the three examples I just gave you, they got all of them wrong. It's absolute bullshit. They need to change the rule where if a puck gets shot at a guy and he puts his hand up and it hits his hand and it's still going, that's not a hand pass. That's not how that works. It's got to be a clear fucking hand pass and funny. I don't know if you want to keep talking about this. Yans, go ahead. No, I was just going to say, you know how every year they have at the GM meetings and stuff down here in Florida, that, that'll be the number one thing that will come out of that. They'll make a change this year, right? For next year. I don't know, because if you go back to Thursday night, I forget who the Islanders forward was, literally spearing Colorado's goalies, pads, yeah. And then that goal ends up counting and bednar after is like, yeah, I got no clue what's goalie interference. Like you got head coaches, some of the best coaches in the game being like, I have no clue. So it goes with golden interference. It goes with hand passes that are not called. And it's like, I don't, how are we supposed to say there's going to be an answer given when nobody knows? We did not have the volume on the television and we saw the overhead of the Sezecus when you're talking about, and I'm like, Oh, that's coming back. He literally just spears his pad. Nope. It ended up counting power play the other way. So it's just a little bit of inconsistency right now where I think that that just needs to be cleaned up and and credit to coop. And we've been beating the drum on him finally winning a jack Adams. We were doing the coast to coast when that happened. Now, I'm not going to be a hypocrite here. I was hoping that the goal was taken back just to see a snapshot because I kind of, I wanted a little bit of excitement, but the restraint from John Cooper, his face was getting redder and redder by the second after they disallowed that goal. But I would have been throwing sticks on the ice. But the fact that he restrained, he kept it cool and didn't snap to me even more reason where he has to lock in coach of the year. So the league better make sure they fucking hand that thing over to him for him not embarrassing them on that horrendous, horrendous call. And they had a fucking nice little win streak going to they were putting some fucking wins together. One of the hottest teams in the league, I believe there's seven and three over there last 10. So that fucked them right in the hoop. Just just incredible. Like being a coach in the NHL is so hard. I think I have more appreciation for it since I'm done playing. I guess doing this, you just see the pressure and the stress and like the top the amount of times I would be losing my fucking mind on refs. And then part of it, they probably don't want to pay the big fine. But when guys do so show restraint, like Evan's in there could have killed someone. Oh yeah. And he just kept saying it's a joke. The entire game was the worst part is, I mean, it happened to Columbus. Like you go on the PK, if you get it wrong and then boom, they score again. It's okay. It's just a double kick in the nuts. And by the way, this could be Florida and then Florida base, you called it, you go bet on them again and they did it again. Was it yesterday? Here we go. The craziest part of that is they come back in that game. They end up winning six final score six, seven, six, seven. It was six, seven night at the Panthers game. They had a six, seven night there. Everybody on the jumbotron was doing this all game long. After the game, Bennett's on the bench getting interviewed. Sam, the Bennett met us doing the six, seven. And then and then on top of that, a few days prior, as they were going out to practice because knowing six, seven night was coming. They asked every player about a player about it. That's why I said March. He said, if the kids at his household say it, they get grounded. So everybody in Florida has to be on the six, seven train. Everybody's sick and tired of the six, seven and sick and tired of the Florida Panthers. Like cup after cup after cup. And this is going to ignite them again is the six, seven. So during, during the call to Randy Molar and, and Goldstein, they were talking, they were like, yeah, seven or, I think it was like seven or six games ago. And then in, in Goldie was like, you mean six or seven games ago. It was one, nothing at the time. And then the game ends six, seven. That's what I'm saying. We're in the fucking simulation at this point, man. I said, I said the other night after they won that one, I said, they're going to go on a run. So they ended up beating the Islanders for one at home on a back to back. I think that they're going to win like six or seven in a row here. If I love this so much and the people get pissed off, I love it even more. It's like, I'm like addicted to it. I got a serious crack. I got a serious problem. My joints. I'll smoke it all my six, seven. My house was like a fucking carnival. Hey, Colorado Avalanche fans to keep DM and me. You don't talk about us enough. We will, but right now, and we do. I mean, you guys are incredible. So we had Lyles on a couple of weeks ago. So is Dallas though. So is Dallas. And right now we'll get into Colorado. What up reader? What's up boys? That right in the hoop baby. I like that right in the fucking hoop. That's where he likes it. That's where the coaches are getting hosed with these with these hand passes. What did you make of those? Those are bullshit. They are. Can I just say like replay was brought in to kind of decide the obvious things? We've we've so jumped the shark. I've said it before and I'm going to say it again and I'm going to follow what you said on the Olympics. Make them play in North America. Like you don't have to sleep on a cot is playing a proper angel arena. I want us to replay. I want the NHL to be the first league to go no more and three play. We're putting the genie back. I've said this before, Ken, and people jumped down my throat like an offside goal in the cup finals. Like what but and I see that side of it. But at this point, you can't you can't take anything away and keep it. So it's like full tilt or nothing. And I seriously think nothing was better. Absolutely. I mean, everyone gets fucked. You go back to the 1980 cup final. Bob Nistner might have been offside, but whatever you live with it. And and you mentioned that throwing the sticks on the ice. I want to see that. I want to see coaches be fiery and passionate. I want to bring the human element back into the game. And there's always been bad calls in the history of the game. So let's live with it. Let's put the genie back in the bottle. Get rid of instant replay. Totally get rid of it until we don't have it at chick. Let's go. There you go. Some geek will develop a chip you can put in the pocket that will tell you if it's over the goal line or not. And that's all we need. That's it. Yeah, done. Some nerd can figure that out. I know a lot of geeks. I probably am one. So let's go get rid of instant replay. Yeah, I like that crazy thing about I think you're gonna have it for playoffs though. There would be a riot if there was a big goal in the cup final offside. Right. There would be, but there always have been anyway. Right. Like there's always been, you know, like is the game really designed to go down to like the smallest little millimeter ever? Is that what the game is about? Not really. I don't know. No, no, no, no. Breeder, what, what else has been catching your eye? Like what's the biggest thing that you're focusing on right now? Is it the Olympics? Well, I was at the Toronto Montreal game the other night and it reminded me of the Toronto Montreal game two weeks ago. It looked like a triple A kid's team. He had a single A kids team in the second period with Montreal totally dominating your Leash Paul. But I again, I'm just at that game and all I'm doing is watching Lane Hudson and I can't believe how good he is. And I can't, is there still talk that he's not going to be on the U.S. Olympic team? Because that to me is absolute insane. But I guess if they're playing on a 50 by 20 sheet ice, maybe not. Listen, I want him to be there. I totally get like you have Quinn Hughes and you have Zach Warenski who are better defensively than him. But you could bring 8D and I don't think this kid in 2030 isn't going to be on your team. So it's like bring them in and if want something would happen to one of those two guys, I see the sides of both. I'm just biased. I love watching them play so dynamic and imagine him with that many high caliber players. So I'm with you. But I do know that he wouldn't be playing the same role that he's playing and dominating at with Montreal. Yeah. That means that's kind of like how McCarr cancels out Bouchard and Canada, right? Like kind of like that. Yeah. And McCarr doesn't even have like the turnovers. Although Bouch, we can get into the oil a little bit. Bouch has been fucking unreal. They're back. They're back. Yeah. Oh, the Ores are back. They're very back. But for your team, Team Canada, is there is that do you have a hot take on the team? Do you have a guy you want to see on the team that maybe people haven't mentioned a lot? Like what's your roster look like? Well, your hot take was that you also believe that they should be playing in North America given the rig situation. Totally. Totally. Like, I mean, if you're right now, if the IHF doesn't have it figured out by now, I mean, I would, as a guy, I would love the Olympic experience. But the biggest tournament I ever played in was the Westville March Break tournament in Pecto County, right? I had to sleep in my bed. How'd you guys do? We probably finished like a distant fourth. We probably got through on the goals four and again. It wasn't that the worst in minor hockey tournaments. Oh, yeah. You know, actually, no, the biggest tournament I played in was in Spring Hill and my dad threw garbage on the ice because the rack was so bad. There was no instant replay, right? But we lived with it. Hey, but everybody went home saying there was a guy who threw garbage on the ice tonight. That's where the entertainment's at. Yeah. Who threw the garbage on the ice? The head of the Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, their head doctor threw garbage on the ice. Chief physician. So I remember the ref had like a Denny Sabarad, Joe Fubble helmet too, not the Gretzky one, but the one Denny wore, lateness career, the Bobby Urie. You know? So yeah, but we got through on goals four. Yeah. What was the question? Oh, it was about the Olympics and playing over in North America as opposed to over in that if it's a shit show. Well, I made my roster. I got Tom Wilson on the roster. Have to have Tom Wilson on there. That brings up a great point. I forgot to say, Bizz has said, and you ain't getting out of this one. If Wilson is not on the team, he's rooting for Team USA. We have that. We have that under the American show. I said, listen, I said that in jest as in like, I'd be very, very upset because it's not even like he hasn't proved it offensively. What's he got? 17 goals. He's literally done everything that you could do as a hockey player to solidify himself a spot. He's scoring goals. He's making plays. He's running guys through the end walls. He fights. He leads. As army said last year or maybe the year before, like I get that OV is OV, but it's Tom Wilson's team. Bizz, you were saying he should be on the four nation team. So you're not, this isn't new. Like you've been saying this. Correct. And he's even taken another step as far as the start of the year he's had. So I mean, I would, I would have him above ahead of Badaard. It's hard to say. You have Wilson ahead of Badaard. Badaard is buddy. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. You can have them both. Don't you have to bring Badaard? Doesn't he played his way on the team? Yes. I think so. I'm hearing that it's, it's, it's probably going to lean towards a no, which I was more concerned about the, the uproar as far as the outside noise where you just be like, ah, just bring them. But I think that we have recency bias on like, oh, like, you know, everybody's just zipping around. Do you remember how tightly checked that finals of the, of the four nations was? Yeah. So guys like Tom Wilson matter, right? That's that to me is a, is a guy that's going to matter. But just bring Badaard for your power play. That's what I don't get. Like your, your, your fourth line is not going to play that much anyway, but that is so hockey Canada. It's so on point for hockey Canada to make the, well, he hasn't earned his way yet, but big, well, but buddy, there's only so many spots and they've won almost every tournament. So you can't even like, you can't really shit on him. He has earned his way though. He's totally earned his way. Business fairness. He's got one more goal than Tom Wilson. Yeah. So that's like, that's, that's earning his way. How awesome was Connor geeky on like an hour ago, by the way, or Morgan, I call him Connor all time too. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I figured out who Morgan is. I figured out who he is. So I'm listening to Morgan Shohei and no, he's Jerome McGinle. He's a nice Western kid. He's on the arc like this. The year of the 2002 Olympics, Jerome, there was 50 guys invited to father David Bauer arena in Canada in August for this truck, for this camp. Jerome was the last guy invited. He showed up the morning of with his gear bag because they called him at Edmonton the night before cause somebody had been hurt and couldn't make it. So Iggy's just walking in the rink with his gear bag. He goes on this amazing start to the season and plays his way on the team Canada. And when I look at geeky on the Holy smokes, it's the same thing. And if I think, I think Morgan's like 27 Jerome was about 24 at that time, but it's like they're both awesome humble guys. And can I applaud him for his stance on multiple sports? Mother of God, that was awesome. Yeah. Yeah. Huge. No doubt. So you got him on your team Canada? Well, I'm looking at the whole roster. And since I heard his interview, you know, you get it's easy to win me over with a good media guy. But I don't know. I got, I mean, who do you take off? Do you point take off point or Hagel? Cause I had Bennett in there too. But you got Hagel's not going anywhere. As long as he doesn't hand pass it. Yeah. Hagel's had an incredible start. The Annie Annie's a five on five beast. I think Sorelli would be the one out on Tampa if anything. Yeah. And you guys got Marin on your team? I do, but it's got five goals. That's a great one. He had that dish. He had that dish to make David and over time. I don't give a fuck. Okay. Geeky for Marin on the side. Yeah. Why not? What the hell? It's not like they're listening to me anyway. I can say I can put teapot on the freaking team. Nobody's going to care, right? Didn't Iggy ended up playing on that first line in 02? Two? Wasn't he on Iggy? I think played. Did he play with Mario? Was he out there with Mario? Mario and Mario and a big role. Yeah. Iggy was just a guy that he always had it. And he got together at the start of that season and like we have to take him. And then he's playing so well. We have to play him too. Like it's truly what hockey should be, right? Earn your spot, not by your name, right? I love that they took him. And that's kind of a geeky reminds me of right now. I'll tell you right now, if Bedard doesn't make that team, there are going to be Canadians that wouldn't be an uproar, but are going to be like rooting against them. And if he doesn't make it and they lose, if he doesn't make it and they lose, it'll be bigger. Then Gretzky not shooting against Czech in 98. It really will be. Nice. Well, we didn't take Sid in 06 and they lost, right? They didn't win an 06. That was crazy looking back. You know, and remember they took Eric Lindross when he was 18 to the 91 Canada cop. They won that. So it's not unprecedented. So take the kid. Take the kid. You mentioned the Edmonton Oilers and I said it's all and I was getting nervous. I was getting very nervous. But this is what they do. They stink and then they run through this league like it's biz in Toronto on a long weekend. And it's starting guys and everyone, oh Seattle Sticks. Oh, Winnipeg doesn't have hella buck. No, I see it. You just can tell it's not about the competition. It's about them. And they are now buzzing and Bouchard is a big part of it. When he gets going like this, I'm not going to say the team goes the way Evan Bouchard goes. But sometimes it kind of is the case. And I really think you're about to see a typical December, January, February of the last few years in the Edmonton Oilers when they are dominating. Reader agree, disagree, totally agree. Remember, thank you. School, elementary school track and field boys. Remember, you'd have the first heat, you'd have the semis, and you'd have the final and the fast kid. Maybe he'd run against the little chubby guy for a while and tie him in the first heat. They move on. And then the second heat, maybe he'd let the obese child win. By the time the old final ran around, he'd probably run beside the little obese kid for a while. Then the last 40, he'd go, they know what they're doing. Do you don't win a cup in, look, as what they say, you can miss the playoffs in October and November, but you can't make it. They know the game. It's all about the game and how you play it. That's a motor headline. And it's very true. Yeah, they're rolling. They're going to be fine. And was it on hockey night in Canada Biz? They showed it the other night. Think maybe or maybe it was last night. Oh, yeah. They both games. They rolled Seattle the game prior. And then I think they, who they fucking spanked the other night. It was Winnipeg. Winnipeg was on a back to back. They'd just be Buffalo and they came in and they fucking slaughtered them. So I watched the Winnipeg game when I got home from the Edmonton game and like they, they slaughtered them down, beat them down. And I went upstairs and on the wife's away this weekend on the kitchen floor, my 10 year old was passed out in his underwear. It was like that. It was just, they, they thrashed them. So it was like, Pink Whitney. Pink Whitney. Yeah. Pink Whitney. Yeah. Yeah. Wait, does it worry you that Florida is getting hot at the same time? Cause I know you've kind of been down on them. Yeah. I mean, if we somehow got through the west and played them again, I'd be as scared as a human's ever been. I'd rather get puked in the, have my son puke in my mouth than play Florida again. But let me ask you guys this. Edmonton, Vegas, Dallas, Colorado, or the field? I'll take a, I would take a, I think, I think, I think it's one of those four. You think Vegas still has a chance? I do. I think, I think, I think, I think, I like how you added Edmonton into that too. No, because like they, they, they, now granted, like I'm scared of Florida, like Tampa's very good. I don't think there's anyone else in the East who has a chance at Carolina fans can get on me all you want. I'm watching those, those, those, all those Western teams just beating the shit out of each other. That becomes part of the problem is it, I feel like the we are the weather, the west is just so much deeper and stronger where it's just going to be a shit show fucking clawing out of there. So that's kind of where I'm at on that. As a problem gambler, I'll always take the field because that gives me 28 to four. No, it gives you, it gives you 12 to four. Damn, you're smart because there's only six. Wow, nice. That's why I'm not a good gambler. See? Neither am I. No, no one is. But I'll give you one right now. Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Florida, I'll make the playoff. Go, I'll get going. Go, I'll get going. Florida's Florida's just, you know, they're, they're treading water. I thought they'd be treading water a little bit better, but they're, they're not far. No one's far. At this point though, reader, I think I would rather a wits kid puke in my face than have to watch Winnipeg jet games. They are so fucking bad to watch, man. They're, they're boring. They're boring to watch. And without Hellebuck, like to see, to see what he does for that team and how bad they are without them, it's like, oh, what a fraud squad. And dude, it's not like a place I dislike or a team that I really dislike. Just like, you're not that good. You're not that good of a team. They, they, they need a second line center. Like they have, they have nothing there. I still think they get going, but like their high end windows closed. I think was it 2017? Guys, you guys remembered it was like, they were the cover of the hockey news, like the team of the future. And they just, they just never took it on. I don't know when they lost in the conference finals. Yeah. Like their window, like Toronto's windows closed, I think. I still think they'll make the playoffs, but yeah, I'm with you. They're, look, I always say 32 teams, 28 teams play the same way. Show me the final four teams. Those are the teams that play different. And so many teams just play the same and the same makes for boring on a lot of nights. You know, let's bring the, bring the scraps back, bring me Marastie and whoever he fakes squared off with the other night at TD garden. Darren McCartney. By the way, shout out to our boy Terry Ryan. I'm so proud of him. I saw the biggest boy on ESPN on TR today. I'm so proud of him. You know, he was on ESPN. There's a big, he's like the cover, cover boy of their hockey page today. You know, that's awesome. Look between TR and Chris Nyland. Those are hockey's two best comebacks. They're my two favorite comebacks. TR and TR and Knuckles. I love it. I think that Knuckles just celebrated 10 years of sobriety today or yesterday. Nice. A couple clicks on Chris Nyland boys. Fucking rights. That's awesome. Yeah. Not so much. No, Terry's. Terry's just celebrated 10 minutes after he got up. Yeah. I haven't had a beer since I went out with Terry in August. I'm like, I need a rest. Good for you. Let me get your opinion. All you guys, because we didn't bring it up yet in the show on Ryan Leonard's out. He got truba trained. And I don't know what you guys think. I think you could call it a dirty hit while being the same time a good hit. I know that maybe doesn't go to Heather, but dude, like he's catching him going around the net and he fucking buried him and he turned around at the last moment. He didn't know where he was on the ice and I'm not saying it's not dirty, but dirty is what makes guys really fucking good at hockey sometimes. So I didn't know what you guys thought of that. It's when guys get hit when they're in a vulnerable spot, sometimes guys lay off them and don't really, you know, lay the boom, but not with the truba trained. When he sees you in a vulnerable spot, that's where he's going to inflict his pain. And he did that from that. I thought the puck was closer, but that still shot. I just saw the puck look like it was pretty far away. I know, but he, but it was close enough to when he did the backhand pass to getting a hit. And he might have been better off had he not even looked. Just, yeah. You know what I mean? I don't, maybe, maybe that's not the case, but it's like, dude, you got to know where that guy is on the ice. He's a dirty player, but once again, biz dirty is, is what makes people good. And we talked about it last year with Tom Wilson against Montreal. I think it was right in playoffs. Like you hitting truba, Tom Wilson, those guys, you need to know where they are on the ice. If you're on the ice against them, you can't, you can't admire you past. You can't have, you can't put yourself in a vulnerable spot. So it's, you hate to say it's as much on Leonard as it is on truba, but it's one of those things that you have to know who's on the ice. And I hope he's okay. I hope it's nothing too serious. I know he's out right now, but, uh, you know, that just comes with learning the game. And, you know, he's a young player in the league and he'll, he'll learn it. He'd been awesome. Biz. Yeah. And to say like, own us on the player, it's, it's almost just one of those ones, like you said, like, like truba plays a certain way to make himself effective in that situation. That, that side of the net is his, his side as a defenseman. So typically when there's already a defender on a guy, you don't see a guy come off this check to go lay a body on a guy who's already covered, but that's kind of, that, that's his right in that situation. It wasn't a dirty hit in a sense. He got him dirty cause his first point of contact was shoulder on shoulder. I think the fact that he was turning around, obviously Washington fans are going to bitch and say, Oh, head contact, head contact. No, it's wrong place, wrong time. And as you guys said, if you're on the ice against truba, you got to know if you do a spin move and if you're on a guy and you have a guy on your ass, that's not saying that he ain't going to come off his check and find you and square you up when you roll off. So that's just a wrong place, wrong time, but that's not a suspendable hit. That's just fucking bad luck for Ryan Leonard, who's been buzzing lately. And that sucks if you're Washington, because you've been rolling so good. Like they, I think they've won what, like six or seven of their last eight games. So, um, yeah, that's, that's not a suspendable hit, but true. That's where Tom Wilson now, he's got to police the game and go over and beat the fuck out of true. So he asked him biz. Now that's my, I wanted to ask you next. Wilson said after I asked him to fight and he wouldn't, do you think if you're going to throw that hit, you should answer the bell? Yeah, I do. But if I'm true, but I might say, fuck you. Haha. I got your fucking guy. It's fucking gamesmanship. I'm trying to win fucking games. I don't care about you, motherfucker. I'm trying to feed my family, bitch. So great hockey hit, great hockey hit. And remember Tom Wilson might fucking murder a guy in Montreal and playoffs and then tell the other team, I ain't fucking fight you. I'm going to fucking run you. I'm going to run you. And then he's going to go to the penalty box and he's going to do something funny that we're going to gift and we're going to enjoy for the rest of our lives. So it was a great hockey hit. It sucked when you saw Leonard Ted snapback, but you're right. If you don't like to hit, go have a, he owed him a fight. That's too bad. He didn't go with Wilson, but Wilson should just say, okay, I'm going to go hit. I don't know. Pick your player. I'm going to go and dunk. Exactly. Do the old, do the old Wendell Clarks. Skate over to the bench to Pavel Burrian say, if Gino doesn't start calming down, I'm going to break your arm. Right? Like it sounds tough, but it's, it's harsh love. But you guys know, God, I didn't play any game. I played freaking high school in Midget Sea. You guys know it's once again, reader, it's a vicious, vicious game. It's a vicious game. And it's amazing how when we can slow it down and we say, was it too late? Was it too, look, it's kind of like the human element, right? You can't, it wasn't late hit. It was a good hit. If you don't like it, arm your team with somebody that'll take care of it. Sorry if you don't like that too bad. And Caps fans, like you're saying it's a hit to the head, hit to the head. Like the fucking league said it wasn't a hit to the head. It was not the principal point of contact. He got his shoulder first. Gee, or fishy. Go back and put the first still image up. Yeah, he's already committed here. I would rather a great white shark be chasing me in the ocean. Then you're a good swimmer. Then see that. Like that is an absolute nightmare fuel picture right there of that lunatic coming at you. Arm talked like I'm about to knock you out for three to five weeks. People, people are going to say, Oh, blindside. It's like, well, not, not really. He's, he's, if you look at Leonard in the shop before that, so the pucks coming around the wall, it's clear that he's going to go to Trubus side of the ice. His knees are already facing the other way. So if he's able to accept this pass, he's, he's now all of a sudden flying around the perimeter of the zone. Trubus trying to eliminate that. And that's his right as a defender. He's coming over to his space. It just so happens. He gets him in the right spot and he's injured and too bad. So sad, but that's not a blind, that's not a blindside hit in my opinion. You're fair game. You know what it reminds me of? Remember, remember, Boogard used to leave his point and come down and blow guys up. If they, if they arm strong, yeah, army, those guys did that. So you knew working the tilt to world at the carnival, if you couldn't have hits like that, he is, but also play in what's that wild 43rd birthday for Colby. Bet it. What 904. Oh yeah. If 15 slices of pizza, watch nine hockey games and passed out. Mel's just looking at him on his lazy boy going, this is my life. And then she looks to her right and daddy Wayne's visiting. She's like, there's Colby in 27 years. Awesome. He's been buzzing with these slumpbusters. Have you been following that? What's that is slumpbusters? Oh, I saw you talk took responsibility for the ice in Milan. I did. I do admire him for that. Yeah, that's right. That's right. Reader, your book, the next one and hometown hockey heroes kind of talk to us about writing this. How's it been? What's going on? Well, give us the breakdown. My goal as an author, by the way, I'm not an author is to get biz to read one page. Oh, it's two books. I'm sorry. It's two different books. That's okay. Just want to read one page. I mean, the last books about teapots. So I figured biz would write that best hands east of Montreal till Johnny Sim came along. And there's debate about that. No offense, Zimmer loves you. But yeah, this one's about it's it's scouts and it's old war stories from scouts. So it's not about how you find the next, you know, not about how you find the next Keith Yandel. It's about boys I've been on the road for 30 years and I've seen some stuff. So that's it's hockey stories. And I actually one of the scouts and it gave me the scouting report on called this Annette from junior. Would you guys like to hear it? Yes, get the fuck out of here. Okay, so I called him up. He said, Listen to this superb defenseman superb. He was he was should have never been moved to forward could have had a 15 year NHL career on the point. He aimed to please the game took advantage of that. And that's why he was moved up front because he just wanted to be a part of it. Anything to be there. He also adds one of his great Paul Bisson memories was seeing that goal against the savers where Biss where you smashed the glass. Yeah, I don't so much remember the goal. But I remember going by the bar after the period and your dad and 20 guys from well and we're partying like they just won the Stanley Cup. That's right. Yeah, they were crushing tequila. Wow, that was a very nice compliment of that. It was very nice. Yeah, well, yeah, I I might be from his no, his dad is dad. Not his dad. This guy also said that the last time he saw you visit you had on a hat that said for Alvin. He's like, What's that fourth line for life? And he gave him the hat and it's still where is it? That's from usually okay. Usually when like the other day I was at what's the other airport not Pearson in Toronto, Billy Bishop, Billy Bishop. Yeah, like if I have a I had Yann's chicle tat on there and he was all I'm like, are you a chick let's guide? He's like, of course. And I said, here you go. Because he asked for a photo before that. So usually I try to give him away when I'm on the road. That's okay. That's cool. That's great. That's in the great Paul Henry. Paul Henry. Okay. Thank you so much for the nice compliment. Yeah, that's coding report wasn't from when he was in junior because you switched to forward when you were pro, right? I switched in my third year pro my last year of my entry level. It was when I did that. So you're gonna ask you this. Yeah, I want to ask you that we've never even talked about because I remember seeing you in camp as a defense, but you were good. You could skate. You're tough. Have you ever thought about like, Oh, I fucking wish I didn't switch. And that description is perfect. Like, dude, aim to please whatever it takes to make it. Was it more like, I'm not going to make it as a D man, but maybe you would have? I don't know. I don't know. I always tell the story of when I came in the locker room when I got called back up to the American League and I'd been playing D in the coast. And when I got called back up on the board, I walked, I was fourth line left wing and we were, I remember we were playing in Philly against the Phantoms and they had a very tough team. And I don't know. I didn't, there wasn't really that much of a conversation. And then I remember I challenged a few guys in their team. They, they said no, thankfully, because they had fucking heavies that would have probably beat me up. But then I just kind of stuck as a winger and then I, all of a sudden I started fighting and then like I, every day in practice, I would be working with like Dan Bilesma and working on things for forwards. Like your, your, your half wall work and stuff like that. And do I regret it? I guess no, because like things kind of just progressed so fast where I ended up scoring some goals in that year playing forward, got some confidence. And then that next year at a training camp, I made the team at a camp. So I was like, damn, like, yeah, I guess this all worked out. So I never really thought about like that. I way more enjoyed playing D and it felt way more natural to me. And I was actually a way better backwards skater than I was forward, surprisingly. So you could motor backwards. I was good backwards. I was used to play D in practice all the time in Phoenix. All the time. I'd be like, why isn't this guy D man? I know. Looking back on it now, like, fuck, I wonder if you would have made it as a D on another yeah, another one. You were just a bad boy. You were a baddie off the ice. Yeah. Yeah. I was a bit of a, I was a bit of a crazy man with all my wild stories, but I guess I would say this, like the way that it's kind of, I was able to be a fourth liner and be a plug and fuck around online was what brought me into this. Cause if I was ever a defenseman, I would have never been tweeting and I would have been more worried about hockey. So things happened for a reason and here we are. And now I get to fuck around with you guys and hear about how awesome I was as a D man. Exactly. Well, this is the path you're supposed to take, right? It's like our boy, TR first round pick, but probably he's supposed to be this TR and not eight years in the NHL. It's going 18 goals from Montreal. Yeah. Right. Everything happens for you. Yeah. Who wouldn't want to do that? Yeah. So, so you said that you have all these war stories from scouts along the way. Like, are you talking like a crazy shit that they found themselves in off the ice as well? So like where the game brings you and stuff like this. So Paul Henry, I call him the Doseki's man of scouts. Like Paul's the kindest guy in the world. He, his story is so incredible. So for me, like everybody like me goes to a game and wants to find the next one of you guys. And everybody can go to a minor midget game and find Connor Bredard. That's not difficult, but how do I find like Antoine Roussel? And in the meantime, when you're going about that, what stories do you encounter and how do you break into scouting? Like I got, so Paul was a, Paul Henry was a psychologist and you guys know that song 38 years old by the hip, about 12 men broke loose in 73 from Milhaven maximum security. So it's about a breakout at a penitentiary near Kingston. Paul was the frigging psychologist at the penitentiary when they broke out, right? So we used to play hockey with these murderers and stuff on the inside. So then the New York Rangers are like, I need you to come talk. There's a guy in our team with an earring. You got to talk to him. It's like 1980, right? They don't want to kill this guy because he's got a new ring. So Paul goes and talks to him and they're like, well, you know hockey too, right? Paul is like, yeah, I played a group with the Draper boys. I was like, well, why don't you be a, I don't know, team psychologist and a scout? And I was like, okay. So the next thing you know, goes on this amazing scouting career. He helps put together the Canadian Olympic team in 94. There's a great story with about how he got Adrian O'Coyne to leave Boston University to play for the Olympic team. And you know, and the stories like that, there's a story of a musician who became a scout. There's like Jeff Tui, he's been in Peterborough for years. Just think about scouts is they're kind of like pro wrestlers and stand-up comedians. They're first gigs literally for 25 bucks. Like they'll go anywhere for 50 bucks. So Jeff Hitchhike, he used to hitchhike the OHL games, right? Like no budget. His first gig, he wanted the scout for, I think he has applied for assistant GM somewhere at Peterborough, but like, no, but you can be our trainer. He's like, I don't know anything about medicine. Like, don't hurt about it. He's a trainer slash scout and he wouldn't do stitches. Like, think about being a trainer in the OHL 1982 and you won't do stitches. Imagine sending your kid to a team and the trainers is this fucking musician who's never, never looked at a body part in his life besides his own horn. Exactly. Well, I can tell you what's going on down under the belt, but not above. Like, yeah. I was on the, uh, in St. John in Newfoundland when I was playing in the American league, we were there for a three and three and I broke my toe and they sent in a guy who supposedly was a doctor and I had to get my toe. Yeah. He poured some lamb's rum on it. But yeah, and the guy stuck the needle in and in one part of my toe and it went out the end of my toe and he's squeezing the liquid that's supposed to freeze my toe. And I'm like, bro, it's fucking going through the end and it's not even going to my, you just jab me for no reason. Like, was it a fish hook or a needle? Yeah, exactly. That was a harpoon. It was a fuck. But, uh, yeah, but like just going back to what you said, like, I could only imagine how crazy this is going back like 2016. Yeah. And so many of these scouts are like really old school. Like, Archie Henderson, he had, became the head pro scout with, uh, with Edmonton. He was, he was actually one of the first pro scouts hired on a full-time basis in the NHL by Washington. And like Archie's just, he's awesome. He was just inducted into the Western Kansas Scouts Hall of Fame. And when he was drafted, he's so old that he was working at a bakery the night before and he didn't even know the NHL draft was on. So he gets home, he sleeps, he wakes up and his mother's like, uh, you got a call from Washington DC, it's General McNabb. He was, what? Now keep in mind, Archie's playing in the dub in the mid 70s. So he's not on the cutting edge of current affairs in modern science, right? Like he's, he's not there to become a doctor. So he's like General McNabb. Like, yeah, they said General McNabb from Washington said he drafted. He thought he was drafted to the Vietnam War. So he wouldn't call him back for like a week. That's fucking crazy. Yeah. So then he, uh, he trains and so he calls them back like, you need to run a mile in five minutes if you want to be a pro hockey player. So he's like, oh, shit, what, what do I do? So his girlfriend, Alice, who's now his wife, had a, like a yellow Chevette. So she, she timed it out with a stopwatch that the car would run for, for five minutes, for a mile. Like she drives like, you know, five miles an hour. So Archie would run behind it all summer. And so he shows up at camp and Tom advised there with a stopwatch tape and these guys be on high school in Hershey pencil of Aynion. Archie runs them up and like five minutes flat. He looks over. He's like, anything else? So they, so he makes Washington signs them. So he's like, so I'm on the capitals. They're like, not on the capitals. You're going to Port Euron, Michigan. He's like, where, where the hell is that? Oh no, I've been there. They send him. Yeah. They send him to Port Euron and like the international league four weeks into his career. He gets clubbed over the head with a stick by wild Willie Trump. That's, and he ends up in, in sports illustrated, like for the most brutal on assault ever. So if you guys are ever wondering who was evaluating you during your day, it was, it was Archie, you know, moves fuck well. Paul gets pucks in deep. Keith is a pretty player. Did you say it was Paul Henry who went to, to New York to evaluate the guy with the earring? Yes. What, what, what, like, what ended up coming of that? Do you have that story in the book? Like, yeah, like Paul just talked to him. I think he took the ring out while he played and the guy had a, yeah. Who's dad? Me lander. No, what's the new lander's dad? The guy also had a perm too. So it was like two things. He had to address the guy's perm and the earring. So I think he kept the perm, but he would take the earring out while he played the guy. I actually had a pretty good NHL career. Oh, it was that big of a deal for, for management that this guy had an earring at the time. Were they like, was it Ron Dugay? Wasn't Ron Dugay? It was, it was Mike. It was one of the Allison boys, Mike Allison. So from a dried in Ontario, I want to say had the earring. So then Mike ended up, I think he got like 30 goals one year and he ended up playing in the LA Kings. So he actually met him at hockey day in Canada a few years ago, had a couple pops with him. He was a wicked dude. That'd be like having a face tat nowadays, like having an earring. Right. Yeah. For how, for how much it was frowned upon back then to stand out and be different. Yeah. So it's just like these, like when I, unlike you guys, like I'm not a numbers guy, right? Like numbers mean nothing to me. My wife always says he's a former TV anchor. She was like, people don't remember numbers. They remember stories. So I just started calling these dudes up and it was like, what the right, where is this going? So it was, it was a blast. It was fun. What's your favorite story from the book? Well, I think Archie getting clobbered by Willie Traugetz over the head. And then later, they became teammates and Archie almost fought him on the team boss. That was a good one. Paul Henry putting together the, the Canadian Olympic team was 94 and just his background as a, as a prison psychologist. And then there's another guy who's a musician. He ended up going on a scouting trip with Mr. Goley Glen Hall and he wrote a song about it. He actually played the song in my book launch. That was a lot of fun. But I think my favorite part is just like, how much these guys love the game because love it. Love it. Like, like we can watch, you know, we'll watch an NHL game all weekend, but these guys are watching like six games in a day. And like fine and Sean Thornton had like a midget AA game in Montreal because he beats the shit out of a guy like sitting through, you know, so many midget games or under 16, whatever I'm supposed to call it these days. You know, they just love the game. Keith, don't you think, don't you think like Bill, like our buddy Billy Ryan scouts for the Canadians? Like, I think he loves hockey more than, more than anyone I've ever met. Scouts love the game. And it doesn't matter what level, it doesn't matter what age, they just want to talk and they just want to watch. And it is so cool. Is the rush finding the diamond in the rough? Is that the rush to find that they're in that Finney, that those types of guys? Yep. That's, that's absolutely what it is. Like, there's a guy in the book, Rick Knickle, who Rick's an incredible story. He's like 30 years old. He was drafted at a Brandon in the late 70s. He's 30 years old playing for the San Diego Gals in the IHL had never played in the NHL. And they like, yeah, he's looking for a goal. He's like, what are you talking about? So Wayne can probably tell you more about this, but Keith Wayne's brother was playing for San Diego at the time and he was telling Wayne about this goal. He said, Kelly Rudy got injured. They signed Rick Knickle. He goes on this run with the Kings in like 92, 93. Anywho, Rick ends up scouting for, for national predators. So he's home one summer, just helping out at a, at a Bantam camp. And I think Morgan mentioned, you know, you get drafted to the WHO when you're eight years old. So he's sitting there at one of their Bantam camps and there's this kid out on the ice and he's just smashing everything. You know, it's an inner squad game. There's like 20 kids on each team. And Rick's like, Rick always carry a notebook on him. So he's scouting for national, but he's just helping out Brandon. He's like, who's this kid? Like, we got him from Rankin Inlet. His name's Tutu. And he's like, Oh, okay. So this Tutu kids comes, keeps back the bench. He turns around to Rick. He's like, are you allowed to fight? And Rick's like, what's find out Tutu goes out beats the tire out of a guy, comes back on. He's like, how did you like that? He goes, I want to do it again. So from the time he's 14, he writes down to Tutu. The story progresses to the point where Tutu's draft here, Rick is like, Helen David Poyle trade up for 91, trade up for 91 or whatever the hell pick he was trade up, trade up, trade up, trade up. So he gets, he gets Tutu in the third round and he goes on to have this great career. There's another great story about the scout who found Antoine Roussel not drafted to the Q, not drafted to the NHL, healthy scratch for the Chicago Wolves. They're just looking for some muscle from Iowa Dallas. It was like, we need an energy guy for Iowa. Just sign some guy to look. I like this Roussel kid. Boom, 650 games. So yeah, that's what these guys like. That's what Sean Avery talked to us about. Remember last year, he was saying like, I just want to go out and find those type guys. And, and, and not everyone can see them, right? Not everyone can see that there is skill behind those guys a lot of times and, and, and yeah, every cup winner has a bunch of them. So it's like, go figure. You guys remember Jared Smithson from national? Okay. Yeah. So when I worked in Calgary in like, Oh, one, oh two hitmen are stacked. Right. They got like Brad Moran, Pavel Brando, Brent Cron's and that shout out Cron and all time beauty. And Smithson's like a third line center. He's like 18, 19 years old. And I'm like, Oh, I don't get this guy. Like I didn't see it. I didn't see what they saw. And of all the guys on the hitmen team, all these, you know, supposed studs, he ends up having the longest NHL career because he gets in, he does what he's supposed to do. He does it well, probably doesn't raise any hell doing it. And it's, it's an arc to find these guys. I think it's like anybody can find the top 10 players in the NHL. I mentioned at last pod, my, my, my nephew, my cousin who, you know, his kids playing hockey is like any tips. And I'm like, honestly, man, like to get to that skill level of these, these guys at the top, it's unlikely. Literally every game, he just has to be noticeable where he's working his balls off. He's hitting everything that moves. He's bringing energy. And if you're the most conditioned guy and you're doing that every game, you're going to find a way to at least get your schooling paid for or get to a certain level. I remember reading something the other day too. It's like, it's, it's not that it's not, don't make it over complicated. You know, you got to fucking skate. You got to work hard. You shoot. You got to pass. Like just get the fucking job done. Finish every hit. Finish every hit. It's very simple tools. If you really think about it, you just mentioned it's not hard to find the top 10 players in the NHL. And Bizz, you said last week when discussing your, your nephew there, that you're kind of born with like some of the things that you see the greatest players have. And a lot of times, you know, now being in youth hockey, it's like, well, the best nine year old isn't going to be the best 20 year old. But like sometimes they are. And sometimes you see like Jack Eichel at seven, six years old, like sometimes that's just kind of a case, dude. It's like they are the best player from the time they start playing hockey until they're not. So many of them fizzle out and many of them, it's, it's a different thing, but there are certain players that it doesn't take any scout to figure. It's a, it's a mum in the stands. It's never seen a hockey game. It's like that kid's better than everyone else. Yeah. And it does change the book. Oh, my mom and I, mom going, mom and I went to so many Halifax Mooseheds game together. Mom had a great eye. Like she could point out the good guys but her favorite, and you can tell her, you can tell him next time he's on was Jody Shelley. Mom, mom was a bit of a look in her day boys. She was Miss Swimsuit in Nova Scotia in 1971. Picture, picture for us. I don't know. I don't have something to mum down here. I was just kidding. I have her calendar right here. There you go. Business taxing. So when the Mooseheds started in Halifax in like 95, their, their, their ad between periods, their big sponsorship was shared to casino cash in the bag and they blindfolded the contestant and they put this big giant round thing on the ice to run around and, and find it. Of course that would never happen today. The guy didn't wear a helmet. People were running into the proxy glass. It was awesome. Mom would have been 46, 47. So Cougar, right? And she'd like, oh, that Jody Shelley was looking over and I was waving at him and then Jody go beat a guy up and mom would love it. So I got to tell Jody one day that mom was the share and cash in the bag lady. So Jody's not old enough to be my dad, which is good news. I was just going to say you need dad. Daddy Shelley, but hey guys, there's a good story. You know where Jody Shelley, before he was invited to Halifax Mooseheads camp played midget a in your armist Nova Scotia. Midget a he was found by Adam, he told that story. Yeah. Donnie Matheson, I think was the scout for the Mooseheads and, but in, in Jody's day, it was a little different. Like you could make your presence felt. You guys know what I mean. It camp a little differently than you can today, but great story. Fucking rights. This is awesome. Thank you so much, buddy. This is awesome, buddy. We love when you come on. Great catch. And remember, guys, don't make fun of geek should collect hockey cards because someday you may find your own very own. Where is it? Oh, tilt it down. There it is. Look at that. Dick. Who's that? That's Dick Paradise of the Minnesota fighting saints. Who probably played probably played with senior. So yeah, what a head. The best name in hockey history, Dick Paradise. That is unreal. My picture like Bigger and McCracken in the morning when the kids wake up like Bigger and Zardy at the house. That was Dick Paradise in the Reed household. Jody Shelley making breakfast. If the Jody Shelley. Mama's Mr. Paradise going. Yeah. Mr. Paradise just delivered the milk and then my father's to my father's on home because he's too busy throwing garbage at referees around her own Nova Scotia. He's a rest. Is that a John McClairstick behind you? Good. Hi, Johnny brought me up that because I'm obsessed with the John McClairstick because of the curve. Oh, you can see the end of it. Yeah. No, you guys want to see it? He was he was in the first training camp I was in because he just signed with the Penguins or maybe second and we were playing the rebound game with Flurry and he was wiring clappers from the hash marks with that exact twig right there. They were going bar down. Like I don't even know if I look at the dust on it. I don't even know if that'll be two ways. That is fucking nuts. And we, uh, he plays an Eric shout out to the Eric Lindrass Easter Seals attorney, but Johnny comes up for it every year. I'm your, I'm your emcee and Johnny still uses this. I'm like, how do you do that, buddy? Yeah, it's wood. Um, you're wood. You want to stick around for one last thing and hear Biz doing ad read? Oh yeah. Oh yeah. These are the best. It should be a page out of the book. Yeah, let's go. That's RO.co slash checklists for longer lasting erections. Little fun boy. Little fun boy. No, no, but, but, but dude, you're like, very good looking at a 97% rate reading those ads. So stay off. Like to see what they say about that. Oh boy, you talk about Dick Paradise. We got to, like Johnny, the Claire stick ain't the only thing with a weird hook on a these days. G. Texamy goes, we should do a fictional comedy movie about NHL scouts in the 80s. Oh my God. That would be awesome. You start writing that script. Start writing the script reader. Oh my, you know who this, you know who the GM of the team is? Senior. Okay. That's a, that's a good start. And then obviously Terry will do a cameo in it. If not, be the star of the movie. Star. Yeah. Yeah. Imagine the table read with senior. It's like 47 hours and we haven't got, we haven't got through the first scene. Like that. I love that man. That's my hockey hall of fame, by the way, his basement is the first time I read her an hour to walk down the stairs. Guys, thank you for having me. It is a lot of fun. That was awesome. Likewise. Pucks in deep. What a show. What a guy. Biz, can we talk about the death, the death row hockey shirt? Yeah, I think we just released that. That came out sick. That's an unreal one. And that is, that is the bet we talked about if the Leafs before the Olympics, based on when they're starting, what's their record since we talked about that? I want to say they're, they're maybe like two, one in one. No, they had three, three wins in four games since then. I thought maybe they'd one, I thought maybe they'd one, one before we announced that we were doing that. So G can figure that out, but we didn't release those shirts last year after they lost in playoffs. If they would have beat Florida in game seven, uh, death row records, which is Snoop Dogg and his, his main man, Kevin, we were going to drop those. They didn't win, but we figured since they're in such a hole, or were in such a hole, let's get the, let's get the boys going a little bit here. So we dropped those for good luck and Snoop Dogg is promised if they win 22 games before the Olympic break, that he is going to come on for an interview. So that is huge. We'll smoke a bowl with them on here. We'll have some fun and talk some hockey with one of the greatest rap legends of all time. Snoop. So I promised we would mention the avalanche. Yeah. I don't know what else there is to say about this team. That goal and overtime by McKinnon at MSG and then to have Eichel score an maybe an even better goal in overtime at MSG MSG. We said it a couple of months ago, it brings out the best in the best players, but that McKinnon, the tight turn on the wall, I counted it was like six power crossovers to the middle, little head fake, shot fake, toe drag backhand under the bar comes out of the net quicker than it went in. I was like, what the fuck did I just watch? Like the guy is so above and beyond biz. He's above and beyond everyone else right now. I used to battle you that with him and McDavid, but this season it's not even close. I would say, yeah, I would say if you take into account the last two regular seasons and then this one, people always bring up like, oh, he's got beat out in the first round. Like, that's not on him. Like his playoff numbers are fine. Like, but like what he's doing right now is just absurd. And he just dominates games. The way that he plays the game to is what I'm fascinated the most with. Like you're talking about a NHL superstar that is one of the best puck counts, if not the best puck count in the world, like if he loses it and they don't have it, he's just going to go get it back. And that's how he operates. He finishes hits, he'll reverse it. He sets up teammates and he's just, he's cracked the code, man. And you said like, like their fans are bitching. Like I see some of those tweets sometimes too. Like we just had John Michael Lyles on. Like we do a 30 minute stroke off fest of how good their team is. Like we have to talk about other things too. So between them, Dallas and who's, I guess Washington, like those are the three hottest teams in the league right now. And we're trying to give you as many flowers as we can. And also Colorado is dealing with a few injuries too right now, aren't they? Like was, was cold. Yeah. N'Juicekins back. I think it's back now, I believe. Yeah, he's back. I can't believe how like it's just so valuable. Like land to skog back. Like that's the guy. I would have bet anything he was done. And even when he was coming back, when we had him on in the documentary, I was still like, I don't know, like chances are this guy gets out there and it's just can't do it. It's so cool for him. And just they have their captain back, but they're D it's so mobile. Like the Taves, McCarr, whatever team Canada stars. And then you got Manson playing with burns vets. Manson's tough as shit. Then you have Gerard with Malinsky. That kid, that kid's a UFA that Malinsky. He's going to get paid by someone. He gets skate. He's, he's like a poor man's Macar kind of and and Gerard is a straight waterbug spinner. Ram is everywhere. So two great goalies. Like they are, they're the class of the league. It's incredible to watch. And also McKinnon was classic. They asked him about the arena being shorter. He's like, who gives a fuck? It was like kind of like the perfect comment. Like all of us are discussing it. Everyone's like, Oh my God, wait till he finds out the ice is going to be like it was in Lake Tahoe for his outdoor game. And when he was toll picking, yeah, when the game got delayed six hours, those the broons, I think they were playing out there. Yeah, it was. Hey, so just watching them, which I love that they do. And like, you know, obviously you see them out there and McCarr and and McKinnon always on the ice together. So I asked Jazzy to pull up some stats for me with how much they're actually on the ice with each other. Because I think it's so awesome. It's unreal. Like I always, I would get into arguments with coaches like if they'd be like, Hey, we need more from you. I'd be like, guy, I'm playing with the fourth line. You can't expect to be putting up points and stuff like that. So they always played 733 minutes this year and Nate has played 627 minutes this year. Five on five. All together. Okay. How many minutes do you think they have on the ice together? 550. If not more. Yeah, I was gonna I was actually gonna say 500. 422. Yeah, I mean, more. Like why wouldn't you have them out there together? Like some teams don't do it. So I'm I've noticed it a bit more like even with the Leafs game, like I'm not trying to bring it back leaves. Troy Stetcher, they scored, he'd been on the ice for three goals and it was with the third line every time. I know some teams do this, but I'm shocked that more teams don't pair five guys to go out there more often. Right. Yeah, you should be doing it more often where guys are just used to each other's tendencies. And like you said, Yann's like, you're an offensive player. Like, yeah, you shouldn't be playing with the fourth line. They're just going to dump in. They don't want to play with the puck. So you for your caliber, you should be playing with the top two lines every time you hop over the boards. You want your skilled players mentally connecting. Yeah, that's the big thing is they think the game the same way. They know where they should be. They it's it's just such a good asset. And then, you know, honestly, it's a nod to their coaching staff or to think of it and doing it every game. How about this stat through this is active players through their first hundred games played. Crosby leads the way with 132 points. Ovi second with 128. Malcolm's third with 114. Capri soft fourth with 112. McDavid fifth with 108. Macklin Celebrini coming in at number six with 104 points. So he continues yet three points against Carolina yesterday or two days, whatever that game was in all the discussion about Badaard on Team Canada. It's just a guarantee that Celebrini's there. And we're kind of witnessing. Unfortunately, it's in San Jose. I don't that sounds wrong. I just more mean personally being out West is just hard to catch the games as much, but we're witnessing like a guy who's going to become an all time great. So it's pretty cool to see. I don't know if you guys had anything else. He's just not cheating the game too, right? Like he's doing it in all three zones. So that that's why he's going to be on that team because it's not like, you know, another guy who might be just all offense. Like he's just so good in all aspects of the game. So credit to him being not young and that responsible and, you know, the numbers don't lie. I don't have much else boys. Uh, shout out to G. I mean, I don't know when the BU Chickle's University will be coming out, but they were just there. Make sure you go to the Spit and Chickle's YouTube channel that just hit 430,000 subscribers. The sandbagger with the Boston guys has been buzzing. That's got, I think over 400,000 views. Chickle's you from Maine is doing awesome. So if you haven't had a chance to go check out that, do that. And then also this upcoming week, is it this Wednesday? Wednesday, 2pm. Me and Keith is in page two on two. My lady. Very, very entertaining sandbagger. I can't wait till everyone gets to see that. And this will be the second week in a row. We dropped Thursday instead of Friday. We're dropping Andrew Santino. Oh my God. Guys, I'm not, I'm whatever. Not gonna, I'm not gonna pump it up too much. So we got some bangers coming out on Thursday pods Thursday, Friday, so Wednesday, 12 game notes with Murals and Army.
