Hey Bible readers, I'm Miss Emily and this is the Bible Recap. For kids! Today's Bible Burst! Second Samuel 22, 36 says, You have given me the shield of Your salvation, and Your gentleness made me great. David is getting older and knows he won't live too much longer. He thinks back on his life and all the ways God has helped him. David knows it's only because of God that he was made strong, protected from his enemies and able to serve as Israel's king. While David reflects, he thinks of himself rightly as someone who is not the most important. That's called being humble and it's a good word to remember. Word to remember! Being humble means thinking of yourself rightly as less important. We also called us having humility. David gives God the praise for all he's accomplished as Israel's king and he knows that no matter what happens, God is there, working out his perfect plan. Today's Bible Burst! God's gentleness makes his kids great. David was a mighty warrior, so you might expect him to reflect back on his life and praise God for strength, bravery or courage. But David praises God for his gentleness. David knew that every time he sinned, God showed him great mercy and gentleness. He's where the gentleness is and he's where the joy is.
