  • Profile picture changes and social media behavior serve as coded signals of attitude and accountability in parasocial relationships between reality TV personalities and audiences
  • Generational wealth and family property ownership create complex emotional stakes in reality TV narratives, particularly around themes of legacy and autonomy
  • Couple's therapy and relationship contracts (formal or informal) are becoming normalized conflict resolution tools in affluent social circles, though their effectiveness remains questionable

Like I can't be the CEO. I need to be the lover. I can't be the husband that a man needs. I can't be the friend that Carl needs. I'm literally just striking out. Yeah, I appreciate everything you're saying, man. If I've done something that has pissed you off or laid down, I want you to let me know. Yeah, it's more just, I think, just struggling to really figure out how to say what I want to say. Oh look, if the word's coming in, I don't want you to feel like you gotta hold back. I gotta get better at having tough conversations with Kyle. I just shut down. Like I literally shut down. If words come to you over the weekend and there's something that you want to tell me that you can figure it out right here, then don't hold back. What if you wanted to say that you just could knock out? I mean, I think I wanted to say f*** you. Who else do you have in your life that is anywhere close to someone like me that shares up with you? Hello everyone. Welcome back to another episode here at Everyone's Business, but mine with me, Cara Berry. Today, of course, we're talking the summer house. It has been quite the week. This is the last time we spoke and the last time I left you. I did not take notes in terms of what little scraps of information has come out since then. There's been a lot of, for those of you who are not deeply online, like I have to be, slash want to be, there have been a lot of people digging through the trenches, digging through the archives of the entire series of summer house to try to see if there were little crumbs left in terms of Amanda's behavior towards her friends that have boyfriends or partners, towards any other men that have crossed the threshold of that house, whatever house is in the Hamptons they lived in at the time. And, you know, things are not great for her. Things are not great. I saw, you know, just reminders of the time where she was like, I'm going to see how many guys' numbers I can get. I, when Maya brought her boyfriend to the house one weekend, Amanda was like, oh, he's cute. He's about to be mine. Maybe he'll be my next husband. Other instances, people thinking that perhaps Amanda had some crash outs due to feeling some sort of possession over Luke, maybe feeling some type of way that Luke was giving Hannah any sort of attention, et cetera. Just general seems like I see things and I want it behavior. And by things, I mean the attention of men, regardless of who they may or may not be attached to with regard to her own friendship group. Here's one thing that I have to have a little bit of a hot take about. Kyle, as I talked about at the end of last week's episode, found himself traipsing around the financial district and Adam Glenn, and then there were TMZ, paparazzi, I guess he just does it on his own now, caught him. Can you hear the sound of my knuckles cracking, the air quotes of caught him? And then he was just chatting, chatting, chatting away. The dogs were shitting on the ground, barking at people, passersby. And Kyle was like, get another thing. And to be honest with you, I love him for it. Kyle's a mess was a great pull quote that we've all had a great time with all week. But the thing that I think upset people most was Kyle saying multiple times, you know, people need to go easy on Amanda, people need to stop following West. I'm not understanding why Amanda's getting raked over the coals. And by all intents and purposes, West is getting more followers. He's really he really stuck on the 50,000 followers that he spotted increased from West Instagram. And people were very much like, they're going to get back together. Amanda and Kyle are going to get back together behind this and that this is another example of like, making white women victims of their own behavior and oh, we need to go easy on her. This is bullying, etc. To be honest with you, I did not take it as deeply as a lot of people did. I don't see a reconciliation happening out of this. Kyle, as we know, is like a deeply sensitive person. I think he's pretty pissed at West, fair. And I think he was just trying to explain she does not deserve all the smoke when West is seemingly gaining popularity. That seemed to be the issue. I also think he also had said I had spoken to Amanda recently, you know, I'm concerned about her mental health. I think, you know, we don't know what Amanda said to Kyle. We also have to understand that he obviously still cares about her. And he probably had just had this conversation with her where he's like, oh, I'm, you know, maybe whatever, whatever she said, obviously was concerning to him. I didn't really take it anymore than that value face value. I do not see them getting back together. But I guess only time will tell. The third phase of this is West. West has been edited out of a Marriott Bonvoy collaboration he was doing with that Maga basketball player who he has a podcast with. He was in it in the video and then people caught he was very quickly edited out. People have seen him on planes, bus plane and another plane on a rooftop of the hotel tanning. There have been a lot of rumors about him in the boys group chat and telling other people, I don't really get this whole Sierra thing. She's not really that bad. Like this is being a bigger deal, whatever. No hard evidence to confirm that. However, I do believe it. And I've been saying I've been trying to walk you guys through the whole Instagram avatar of it all and why I have not trusted West for at least a year and a half now. Because when he started getting it at that reunion where he had to take accountability for his wishy washyness with Sierra. And people were raking him over the coals. I'm assuming this must have been the time where he was telling us this season. Oh, people are in my DMs and my family's DMs calling me racist. He changed his profile picture to like a meme of DW from Arthur and I knew, oh, this man does not give one fuck. He's weird. He's a weird individual. This is in line with my theory. And so I choose to believe that. I choose to believe that he is completely downgrading and denying and oversimplifying Sierra's feelings in this in order to make himself feel better. Allegedly, he said he and Amanda are in a serious relationship and like he don't get it. I would not be surprised by that. Not one bit. That he did not get it. I think when he first started getting it and he changed the profile, that to me was a signal that I am reveling in this like villainry. Like y'all want me to be the bad guy. I'll be Nicki Minaj. I'll be Chun Lee. That's how I took it. And that man has not changed his profile since when you know he's a deeply online guy. To me, that's all I need to know. So while I say people have so many crazy conspiracy theories that they really need to go touch grass, here I am tethering myself to a profile picture change that happened a year and a half ago. And I'm not getting off of it. What else has happened? Oh, Lindsay has gotten into it with Dumois because Dumois posted somebody sent in a little tip to them that Lindsay was down to zero bond with her daughter talking about how she's raring to go for the reunion and Lindsay clapped back at them. People say clap back anymore. I feel like I haven't heard that in a while. She clapped back and said, that's not true. I was running around with Gemma. I barely got a little bite of my egg frittata in down to the Easter brunch. I said, I was asked, are you ready for the wedding or the reunion? And she said, I'm ready for it to be over. I just love like white on white crime. Lindsay get her girl. Because, you know, Dumois is like shaky stuff. And I just love that like when people who are being spoken about come into that comment section and correct it and be like, this is some bullshit. I just appreciate that, you know, because I try to be very judicious with like the things that I say. And I'm just not going to throw things out there really nilly unless I absolutely trust my source. Which leads us into our second thing. And, you know, we got to be a little bit more careful about the information that we spread. Because look at this country girl. Look at where we are because of it. Anyway, I had gotten a tip. This is already old news at this point last week that there had been some deep conversations down to production with regard to the future of both summer house and in the city. And as of the time that I heard this information, they were talking about the possibility of the future of both. As of last week as far as what I was told, and I do trust my source that in the city, we may not have even seen it that they were going to make decisions. And, you know, they just did not see the point given since it's already been filmed like what could we see. Obviously, they made the correct decision and decided to drop the trailer for in the city yesterday. We have a whole cast of characters. None of which seem to be black. I don't know. I'm looking at two of them thinking there might be a situation here. I might need to check their ancestry. But no black women. I'm not seeing any Asian people. It's very paper bag testy cast and there are 70,000 people on this cast. More so than I feel like the Valley had. Remember when the Valley dropped and you're like, God, there's a lot of people like there's new people new faces too many couples. I don't know what's going on here. I think there's even more people in the city. The trailer dropped. Honestly, Kyle and Amanda in terms of drama and storyline weren't really too heavily featured in the trailer. Obviously, there's a hey Mandy moment in which West and Amanda see each other. They drop that in real quick. They're just running into each other on the street hugging each other. Hey, cutie. Hey, Mandy. More on that later. But we have Andrea. The Italian stallion is back with his wife, Lexi. We have Danielle back with her boyfriend who I guess is married. Interestingly enough, Amanda had some things to say. How weird is it that Danielle's in a relationship with a whole married man? Well, ask your boyfriend. Is that weird for you? West anyway, the show looks interesting. It premieres May 19th. I'm told it's going to be a two hour premiere on the back of the summer house finale. So strap in y'all. We got a lot to, I mean, it's going to be a whole night. Get your compression socks. You're going to be sitting down for a while. Now, interestingly enough, in this episode, they talk about how this is like they only have two weekends left at the house. So is this, I'm now thinking like, is this the finale that they're talking about? Or maybe it's on the back of the reunion. Because how do we have so much show left if we only have two weekends left? That's interesting to me that I'm just thinking about that. I'm going to have to double check. No, I guess that does make sense because the reunion is not even going to be filmed for summer house until April 23rd. So that would make sense. So we got a little while to go for this show. But again, I'm just wondering like, what are we going to see if we are not long for this world in terms of the Hamptons? Anyway, is that all we got? I think that's all we got. Leverboy did drop some Carl's and Mess merch if you want to purchase. This Sierra has been very intentional with her posting since this has happened. She has been recognizing Transday of visibility, shouting out the dolls. She has been promoting a Girl Scout troop, troop 6000 here in New York. I donated. I would suggest that, you know, if you guys got some coin to donate, it's a great, great cause. And yeah, let's get into this episode. Unfortunately, begrudgingly, I'm going to have to be Ben's number one defender again. President of the Ben Waddle fan club and see. I don't want to have to be rooting for the man, but unfortunately I have to root for a truth in what I see. And in this case, Bailey, like I just don't, I'm confused, but we'll get into it. Okay, so we're at Lindsay's housewarding party at the top of the episode. Darra is confronting Bailey and Levi because KJ told her that Lindsay told him Bailey told Lindsay Darra and Ben were in Ben's room for an hour. She was came in in one outfit and left in another. I don't know what happened. So Darra's approached Bailey and said, when I got to the house last weekend, you weren't there. The energy was weird with me and KJ. And you had mentioned to Lindsay that I was alone in Ben's room for like an hour. Bailey says, did you not go in there? And Darra says, I went in there because they put my suitcase in there. So I just went in to change my costume and he did duck in at one point. Again, this is not like the entire truth from Darra, but it's still enough of the truth that like there's really nothing about this that Bailey needed to report to Lindsay about anything. So we see Darra has her luggage at the front door. Ben is in the foyer with her. She's like, I'm about to change. She says, I'm going to go change in the bathroom. And he said, well, why don't you just like change in this room down the hallway, his room? So she's like, cool, I will. So she's changing and we hear Ben being like, Oh, have you texted me yet? Like obviously he gave her his number. Have you texted me back so I get your number? And she's like, Oh, you're trouble. That's literally all that happened. So Bailey says, well, the whole rhetoric was that you and Ben were flirting. But I don't know if you hooked up. I don't know what happened in that room. Okay. Well, I just told you what happened. Well, I don't know if you guys hooked up or not. Okay. Well, then maybe don't say anything. The whole rhetoric, the whole rhetoric was you. Nobody was talking about Ben and Darra. Except for you girl. Like I don't understand why she keeps watching every move that Ben made. Darra says I was just feeling defensive because KJ got hurt behind this. And I was testing the waters that weekend. Like I was free to do whatever I could talk to Ben. I could talk to KJ. I could flirt with both of them. I was just having a good time. Bailey is like, yeah, you have every right to. I'm sorry. I wouldn't want to spread a rumor that a girl hooked up with someone when she didn't. My thing is there was very clearly a Ben and Darra moment. And then all of a sudden you were dating KJ and I was like, what's happening again? Okay. What is this have to do with you? Like I don't, from what we saw, Bailey didn't even present that to Lindsay that way. You were just like, oh, here's what Ben's doing. And it happens to be with Darra. So then Bailey says in a confessional, I thought Darra and Ben were vibing and they seem like they were in love. I don't know. I might exaggerate, but I'm not a liar. I might fluff it a little bit, but I would never lie. So Darra says, I was flirting with Ben that day. And Bailey's like, okay, well, I'm glad you could admit that you were flirting because Ben was actually acting like there was nothing. And Darra's like, okay, well, he shouldn't insult me. That's insane. We were definitely flirting. And Bailey's like, that's what I'm saying. So after we go back to right after Bailey and Levi were acting like those plants, because Bailey still got those pants on her plant pants on. It's a group. They're outside. It's Bailey, Ben, Amanda and Jesse. She's saying, I think Darra and Ben may have fallen in love today. So Amanda asks Ben, did you fall in love with Darra? And he was like, no, no, we were all drinking playing games. That was it. That, see, you presented it as though there was this whirlwind romance and he was like, no, that's not downplaying everything. He was just saying, I didn't fall in love with this girl five minutes after meeting her. Like 99% of people would be like, no, I did not fall in love with this person after one conversation. We were just having a good time. I just don't really understand what point Bailey is trying to make because you were like, well, I just was confused because you were flirting with Ben. You were in there for an hour and you guys changed clothes and you guys had raucous sex and you guys fell in love with each other immediately. And then you had babies and I saw the baby and the baby looked at me. And then you're saying, well, Ben was completely denying this experience. And he was like, look at her. So did Ben do something wrong? Did Darra do something wrong by picking a man? Did Ben do something wrong? Like what's going on? All words lead back to Ben for Bailey. And I just, I don't get it. And then you telling Darra, and I'm sure if Ben knew about this, he would say, oh, I never said that and then I'm just being dramatic, blah, blah, blah, which is exactly what's happening, girl. And so Darra tells Bailey if he's going to try to rewrite history by all means. Bailey was like, yeah, he was downplaying it, but he was interested in you. They all were. Okay. What does any of this have to do with you, Bailey? Darra ain't got nothing to do with you. Her love life. Ben, I don't see any of this, but anyway, let's move on. She says, speak of the devil. Ben actually walks in with his friend. She's listed Ben's friend, Sabrina. Ben introduces Sabrina to Jesse and Kyle. But Jesse's like trying to piece things together. And he's like, hey, hey, so like, what did you guys meet? And they're like, March. Ben says, we connected. Then we like disconnected. Here she is. Now, Ben lets us know that when he reached out to reconnect with Sabrina, she was totally down, raring to go. Great, because he realized that he carries cares about her a lot. But then Jesse is like in a confessional like, uh, she's like very sweet, but you know, I like her energy, but I'm just still like hung up on how quickly they're jumping into things. Like I thought they'd been hooking up this whole time. And like Ben was saying that he wasn't seeing anybody when he secretly had a girlfriend. That's a good theory. So, okay, get your toes out of your mouth, sir. You literally were like, I'm in love with Lexi day one. Like everything that Bailey is saying happened between Darra and Ben actually happened with Lexi last season. So why are you weird about a time? Here's one thing about Jesse is like he would talk, I don't want to hear his opinions about anybody's relationship and how they move and how they move weird because you don't move and then when you do move, it's like the weirdest thing. So I just like can't tether myself to that. But here's the other thing, like there has been a prevailing theory that Ben actually from the audience, they do feel like Ben was in this relationship with this girl. Sabrina the whole time. I don't believe that only on the strength of if I were Sabrina. And this was the plan. I would not want the narrative about me to be like, I said I love you to this man and he denied me and then wanted to have fun all summer. I don't know whether or not he was dating her the whole time. The other thing is like he actually was interested in Darra until KJ was like I'm interested in her and then Darra was like I'm interested in KJ. Like he was down. Remember that weekend? He was like, oh, I have intentions on like talking to her connecting with her seeing what's up. But KJ had already gone on a date with her. So he was like, all right, mate, like no problem. You guys connected. That's cool. So that's like two things where I just feel like it can't be true because you would one have Sabrina this woman that you're obsessed with now out here looking stupid. And two, you actively pursued Darra or at least attempted to. So those things just don't really match up to me. But honestly, like given what we know about how everybody in those cast has moved this season, him being a little sneaky about having a girlfriend. I don't know. I mean, West was doing the same thing. Like nobody, nobody thinks about that either. West fully mentioned Montana girl last season on camera. The girl that he had been seeing and like nobody cared about that. So I don't care. Like what's the harm if Ben actually had a girlfriend? Okay. Is there anything I have to talk about? Because I'm going to have to clock in again later at the end of the episode. But can I free myself now? I think so. Okay. Mia's boyfriend, Scott shows up. Mia lets us know in a confessional for the last few years. Scott doesn't really show up to those like social things that you would show up to with your partner because he's never around. So the fact that he's at this housewarming and they can like do normal couple things and she doesn't have to be like, oh, Scott's in Miami and Scott's here. They're everywhere. Feels great. She has seen a confessional. Is it insane that I want my partner to come to housewarming with me? No, it's not. No, it's not. Lindsay then goes over to Dara, Bailey and Levi to make sure they're okay. She said I saw some hands flailing. I didn't know. Bailey, let me put my badge on. I forgot. Bailey exaggerates again because Lindsay makes a joke about Carl about Lindsay giving a Carl a thumbs down. Remember she told Bailey told Carl. That's what Lindsay did. Lindsay says that I actually didn't do that, but she doesn't really give a fuck. Levi says she encouraged you to go out with Ben if you wanted and they show Lindsay telling both Bailey and Levi if either of y'all want to go for Carl, go for it. Bailey says, but I don't want to date your ex fiance and she goes, no, I don't care. So Lindsay's like, have you spoken to Carl since then? Bailey says we have been texting a little bit, but the ball's in his court. So Lindsay's like, well, how about you send them a new text and Bailey's like, huh? So then Amanda tells Kyle, because she's with Mia, Scott and Sierra, we're going to go on a double date. And Kyle's like, oh yeah, me, you, Mia and Scott. She's like, no, no, no, me, Sierra, Mia and Scott, you can be the fifth wheel. Ha ha. Joke. Laugh. Funny. Kyle's like, it's okay. I'll sit in the awkward chair, but then Kyle gives us another little. Scandival tidbit that is now going to have to go into this situation by saying he's in high spirits because he and Amanda finally made it the decision to go to couple therapy. Something that Ariana and Tom also did, even though by that point, Tom is in a full blown relationship with Raquel. In tandem at the same damn time. So Kyle says in a confessional, I take full responsibility for saying F you. I feel horrible, but now I'm finally feeling hopeful and optimistic and excited. And we only have two weekends left, but let's make the most of them. So then we see Carl and Bailey kind of talking. Carl lets us know Bailey's cool. She's hot, but there's a voice in the back of my mind saying, don't hook up in the house again. And then it turns into like one of several retrospectives of our more senior cast members on the show. This Carl and all of his relationship flops, work is page. Lindsay, it was like a minute long. We didn't even get into the engagement. These were all just like dating relationships that ended in failure. So then we see, well, we don't really get to see. They had to show us arrows of being here, Sabrina, Ben's girlfriend and being here, Sierra talking to her. But we hear Sabrina speaking life into this woman. Oh my God, Sierra, you're so stunning. I've heard the best things about you. And based on what Ben has said, I'm like, you're my person. Like obviously you're stunning, but you're like a star on the inside. She's holding Sierra's hand and telling her, I'm very sensitive. I do not connect with people often. And so like I'm like feeling a lot of vibes from you. So Sierra is like, oh, okay. What are you doing next weekend? You want to come to the house? Do you want to stay in the room with me? And Sabrina's like, yeah, I will come, but only if I can hang out with you the whole time. So then Lindsay starts, oh, here's the other thing. Here's the other thing. Obviously in the midst of all of this drama, all the cast members have gone to Instagram stories, typically to say something about where they're citing. It seems like everybody's team Sierra. Ben posted multiple Instagram stories about Sierra and Sabrina and their relationship and how they got along. From the minute they met each other and Sabrina loves her, blah, blah, blah. And I think this is very interesting because of the interaction between Sabrina and Amanda. Something about this just felt very like, we don't trust Amanda. We don't like her. And the we, I mean, Ben and Sabrina. It's clear to me that like Sabrina does not fuck with Amanda and I don't know why. But like maybe she truly is a witchy woo woo third eye open kind of girl and was like caught the vibe and I don't like it. So after this, we get Lindsay ting ting ting. Hi, I just want to make a speech. Gosh, I really hate making speeches. And then of course, we see like a whole minute long retrospective of all the speeches of your that Lindsay has done. Honestly, the best one was the one where she went back eight years into all of her relationships. To then be like, and now I'm in such a better place, not because of you, Carl. Thank you. But this newest speech was about how excited she is to start her life. Gemma's here. We're in this big beautiful palace. It's a place for my little princess. It's got new energy, especially from the last apartment that I had with my ex fiance. The funniest thing happens because obviously like everybody is listening to her right. Carl, Ben in the middle, Mia's boyfriend Scott are all standing next to each other. And as soon as Lindsay mentions my ex fiance, who is actually here, Scott turns to Ben is like, wait, who's the ex fiance? And Ben's like, oh, it's Carl. The way Scott's face was like, huh? That really gagged him, which really made me laugh. Lindsay ends her speech by saying, I have a lot of old friends here, I have a lot of new friends, one ex fiance. And Sierra's like, all right, well, shout out to Grove. So then we see more of Sabrina and the arrow pointing to her. But at this time she's having a one on one with Amanda. Now I forgot to mention when she was speaking life into Sierra, Amanda was standing there and that mug was getting in meaner and meaner. She did not like it. In my opinion, she wasn't loving all of this love that Sierra was getting from somebody else. So when Sabrina talks to Bailey and the other girls, Bailey tells Sabrina, we were just talking about how good it feels to cry. And Amanda's like, yeah, I was just telling the girls I wake up every day and I tell Kyle how I'm feeling. So Sabrina goes to Amanda and says, I'm gonna be really forward. I'm honestly dying to know what's happening with you relationship wise. Like Ben just told me bits and pieces, but you deserve true love. And if this is it, great. But if not, you need to go find it. Now Amanda says in a confessional, has been been journaling about this and filling this girl in about everything in our lives when we don't know her. Like, why does she know so much? I have to put a pin in this because I do feel like my Ben club been I do feel like he is a thing. I also would do the same thing because we have to think if every weekend you're pulling up to this house and every weekend, some or multiple moments are being taken up by Amanda and Kyle, passive aggressively getting into it from across the dinner table, full on fighting. You saw Kyle scream fuck you, you and Wes were staying up to like navigate the situation. I too would be running back to the city and being like, or no, you can't believe what I just saw this weekend. Or no, Sabrina, it happened again. I would be also yapping. So while I understand why this would be off putting to Amanda to be like this girl, I don't know knows all my business. You might want to understand the toxicity of your relationship that I think you don't even clock how bad it is for other people to have to experience. So Brita really should have kept that shit to herself and not gone like so in. But I also went to yep, sorry. So then we head over to Belmont, North Carolina to Sears grandparents house she just purchased. She has some people there to like talk about renovations because she says I just want to do one big thing one and done and have it be finished. Sierra let's us know that her grandfather actually owned multiple houses on that same street that he gave out to his children but then they slowly started selling them off. The grand plan was for there to like be generational wealth kept in the family. Sierra, you know, not me she lets us know that you know black home ownership is a very big deal even still because we weren't allowed to have anything so she's just trying to restore his plan buying this house is the first step and I really appreciated it. She then meets up with her mom, Sheila will just wrap up this North Carolina storyline. She meets up with her mom and they have lunch and she talks about like what her future is looking like. I want to have kids. I want to probably keep a place in New York but also have a bigger place we can do chickens pigs goats and then she tells her mom. My dad's side of the family like their country but your backwards because dad's side of the family only had one pig but you had three. So Miss Sheila says I haven't really talked to your dad about who bought the house and Sarah's like I know I already know he's going to be pissed because I did it behind his back. But her mom says I don't think you did. I think you wanted something and this is just the way that you had to go about it. So a producer asks Sierra does your dad know that you purchased this home. She's like well he does now like as of the show airing. So Sierra tells us I knew the house was going to be up for sale but I have not talked to my dad in four years. So I just wanted to get the house fair and square. I didn't want to have to jump through any special hoops so I had to find a real estate agent. I had to get an attorney. I had to have an LLC formed and then a trust and then a name for the trust and then buy the house under the trust. And then I had to send my realtor to court with my dad and his family. They rejected the initial offer put in another one. Finally she won. So Sierra tells her mom in terms of dad I think sometimes he misconstrues my intentions and I just don't really know if we're in a state where he's going to understand this but it's a new chapter. I'm heading into the next phase of my life. Hopefully this will be the home where you can meet your grandkids and hang out with them there. And you know like I know this isn't your side of the family but and her mom's like it's where you are and that's what's most important. So Sierra says in a confessional my relationship with my parents will probably always be layered and always be complicated. But I always loved my grandparents and I hope that one day my kids will have that relationship with their grandparents. But whatever things turn into however it goes I just feel lucky and blessed to be able to keep the house in my family. And her mom was like I see where you are I'm so proud of you and I love that. I'm glad that she is in a better place with her mom because it wasn't great because remember she was like her mom had recently gotten married. Around the time that she and Wes were dating. You know people have a hard time thinking that she and Wes were not an actual relationship but they were. And part of the end of their relationship at least according to Wes I don't know was that Sierra had some feelings. She did not want to go home that Christmas because her mom had recently married somebody that she didn't like and get along with. So she was like you know what I'm not getting along with either of my parents so she went to Costa Rica. Apparently she went like a little bit too ghost for Wes and that was like part of why they broke up. She was like in communicato or something. Should I start a conspiracy theory that that was when Amanda and Wes really started their relationship? I might actually look into this later anyway. Back in the city Mia, Amanda and Lindsay go out for drinks. Amanda tells them my week was good you know it was Kyle's birthday but I forgot and on his actual birthday she woke up and was like Kyle my head hurts can you go walk the dogs. And then when he came back she was like oh happy birthday. Probably should have said that first. Now Amanda says in a confessional last weekend was really really bad but I hope we're moving in the right direction and that Kyle really heard me. And couple therapy kind of seems like our last option like if we can't pay people to fix our problems and like what the fuck are we doing? But then we switch to Mia and Amanda asks oh did Scott come home when he said he was? She's like yeah. Well how about the contract Mia did you get him to sign it and Lindsay's like what contract? So two weeks ago Mia told everybody at the vineyard that she had a contract that she was going to give to Scott. He can only be away from her for 10 days at a time. And Bailey was asking well what happens if Scott breaks the contract in Mia says well obviously if it gets really bad I can't do this anymore. So Amanda looks at Lindsay and was like what you've never written a contract to a partner threatening to leave them if they didn't follow through. Shout out to the post it the fact that it was written on a post it was what really gagged me. The post it that they had Kyle sign as a contract where if he cheated on Amanda he would have to then pay her parents for every penny of that wedding. Mia tells Amanda and Lindsay I had to put my foot down because I'm 34. I want to get married and have kids and I don't want my kids only seeing their dad every three weeks because he's busy opening up a business. Now Lindsay's kind of making a crazy face so Mia's like girl you can stop me if I'm being ridiculous and Lindsay's like no no no I'm just listening. I fully agree with you but I do have some follow up questions. Do you have a timeline? The fact that she could barely even get the word out because of her own history with timelines with regarding men really cracked me up. So Lindsay asks Mia have you and Scott talked about having kids and Mia says yeah but here's the thing I've lost both of my parents so I don't have a village to help me raise kids. So Scott being away for so long is particularly triggering for me because if he's not here I'm going to feel really alone. So Mia says in a confessional I've been dealt some very strange cards in this lifetime. Her father died of cancer when she was 22. Her mother died suddenly a year and a half ago. They were besties super close, talked all day every day so the adjustment obviously was very hard for her and she says I feel like lost and untethered without my mom. So sad right? So Mia tells them I feel like me and Scott have to now work twice as hard, get our paper up because we are going to have to pay to have our village. So Lindsay says I'm kind of in a similar situation. My family's in Florida, my baby daddy's family are in another state. I also don't really have a relationship with my mom. So having Gemma has been very healing for me. It's sort of like a way to kind of work through those issues. So we wish the absolute best for Mia. Scott you better keep it tight and you better keep it in line. Otherwise you will be replaced. Okay we will find another elite employee for Mia. I have no problem saying that. Get behind me girl. So then we head back to the Hamptons. It's Darra's official first weekend. She says to her car, I'm hoping it's a rage field weekend but then she has to say like, I mean that in like a fun way, not in an angry way. Wes is back from Italy. We have to watch cell phone footage of him dancing on the dance floor and fireworks, whatever. Moving on. Mia and Sierra drive up with Ben and Carl. The girls tell Carl about the fact that they had gone to Lindsay's birthday lunch. And they heard that Lindsay had sent Carl a nice text thanking him for the gifts that he brought for her housewarming party for her and for Gemma. Carl says, I saw Lindsay's name pop on my phone. I'm like, oh God. I hadn't had a text from her in almost two years. So that is progress. So Mia asks Carl, do you feel like you and Lindsay could ever be friends again? And he says, well, I don't want to say never, but who knows? It was really nice that she invited me to the housewarming. They did do an Uber Eats commercial at which Lindsay did cross the Williamsburg Bridge, I'm guessing, to head over to Green Point to fill with Carl. Make sure he's okay and not a mess. In her comment section, she wrote, I unblocked him for this, for this ad that we did together. So progress. That's real progress. Then Carl tells the car last weekend marked five years since my brother's been gone, which has always been an emotional time for me. He tells me, I appreciate you reaching out. Jesse also messaged me, which was cool. He wasn't even there that summer. I was looking for anything special from anybody, but it's nice to hear from your friends. So then Sierra says, I met Sabrina at the housewarming and we bonded. Ben says, I do need to have a chat with Amanda at some point, but after the housewarming, Sabrina told me she was talking to Amanda. And Amanda said, Ben's been really great this whole time. Everybody in the house thinks he's in love with me, but apart from that, and Sabrina was like, wait, what? So Ben tells the car, I just don't really understand where that was coming from. Like, what did you want to get out of that? Well, Ben says in a confessional, Amanda and Sabrina had a heart to heart, but according to Sabrina, Amanda had this really awful comment. And then Sabrina got really upset. Like, why does this guy, I really like love you and not me. Ben, what are you doing? And it's just frustrating because I really want all my friends to get along. But now it's just like fucking awkward and we're not going to be able to hang out. We're not going to be able to go on double dates now together all the way. Seems like unnecessary shit going down and it upsets me a lot. So he tells the car, I really do care about Sabrina and I'm falling in love with her more and more every day. She's priority number one and I want her to feel that. Yeah, what are you doing girl? Because to be honest with you, let me put my pin on again. We are already coming off of him being upset with Bailey. Amanda, you said what Bailey said was weird. You never told her that, but you said that that was weird. You know that Ben was upset about it. So then being like, he's in love with me. Like, where did you think that was going to go? Other than... I would imagine that Ben probably went to Sabrina and was like, oh, this is going to be a baylee thing, so I'm trying to fuck my mate's misses. And then she meets his mate's misses and she's like, oh yeah, he's in love with me. So then she's probably like, girl, what the hell is going on? In the other card, Jesse tells the guys he met up with Ben and Carl. Carl's going through it because the anniversary of his brother's passing just happened and Kyle didn't text him. And on top of that, the anniversary of Carl's brother's passing lines up right with Lindsay's birthday and then Carl peep that Kyle was on Instagram Stories, wishing Lindsay a happy birthday, which, you know, probably only upset him more. So when the people get to the house, Sierra's like trying to make some margaritas for everybody. So they're trying to find a little cocktail shaker. Wes finds himself, I feel like. You think it's just going to be an innocent shaker, perfect for the party, useful. You pick it up. Oh, it's filled with something. Wes opens it. Oh, it's the worst possible thing. Blue cheese. You know what? Just throw the whole shaker away. Nobody expected it, but it was rotten on the inside. Mm-mm-mm. So then Jesse and Carl go out by the pool to talk. They start asking Carl, how are you feeling? Are you going to have this conversation with Kyle? I kind of have to wonder, like, what is it with Jesse feeling responsible for the relationship between Kyle and Carl? You told Kyle that Carl was upset with him about, what was he upset with him about? Oh, not investing into soft bar. And now you're like navigating Carl. Are you going to talk to him? Like, what's going on with you, Jesse? Why is this your role? But Jesse's telling Carl, I think you've been a great friend of Kyle, and you deserve that same thing back. Carl says, it's just weird that I have to go to him and tell him, like, hey, my brother's anniversary came up. Like, a real friend would know that. It's insane that I would even have to broach that conversation. The West and Kyle are talking in Kyle's bedroom. And West is like, hey, man, have you talked to Carl today? And Kyle's like, oh, you know, I heard something was mentioned about he might not be happy with me right now. And West says, but do you know why? Because you didn't reach out to him on the anniversary of his brother's passing, which was the day before Lindsey's birthday. And I think it kind of hurt him a little because you'd posted, like, happy birthday to Lindsey. And I think that hurt his feelings. So Kyle, you could tell, is like processing this and he's kind of like, oh, shit, oh, shit. But then like Kyle, I can't be on your side because the first thing is what he always does is divert to how stressed and how busy in the business and this, that and the other. And I had laundry to do and I had this meeting, a work called meeting. And West is like, OK, you know, if you do talk to Carl, don't bring up laundry. Just say, hey, I forgot. I'm sorry. I love you. It'll take two seconds. He'll get over it. But then by the pool, Carl starts popping off to Jesse and Ben and saying, like, if this house were to catch fire, Kyle would grab one of his DJ equipment. He wouldn't grab one of our hands to try to help us out of the house. Like, what do you have left when all of this gets taken away? Us, not your fucking DJ, not your speaker. All that will disappear. I'll try to have a conversation with him, but he's not going to listen. But I kind of understand how Amanda feels now. Like, what person wants somebody around who doesn't listen to them and has a general sense of like, I do whatever the fuck I want. And Jesse's like, there's no way that he knows this is how you feel, man. So the house decides tonight we're going to go to like a mini golf driving range situation, pick your poison, which one you want to do. Bailey is looking cute. She's got like a halter dress titties out. She lets us know in a confessional the titties are out because I like them. But if Carl notices, I'm not going to be sad about it. Jesse's dressing like he's actually about to golf like he's about to go on a golf course. This is one of those nighttime driving range like where's whatever the fuck we don't care. Sierra is dressed in a crop top skirt and the highest wedge heels you've ever seen. Also appropriate. So they get there. Everybody's having fun. And then they're all rejoining to have some chicken fingers, you know, little fry, little Diet Coke beer situation. Carl pulls Kyle for a chat. And Kyle's like, thank you for doing this because I did hear some rumblings that you were upset with me. Look, you know, I've been with you for several years for the anniversary of your brother's passing. I spaced. I feel like it's just been kind of a running theme for my summer and I'm just like feeling like generally speaking, I've let you down. Now this would have been a great place for Kyle to stop. Unfortunately, he didn't. But Carl tells him, you know, you did let me down, but you could tell the Carl is very nervous. Like he does not want to say anything to Kyle. He doesn't want to like be open and honest about his feelings and I feel bad for him, but he is able to tell Kyle. I was just a little disappointed. I was hoping to hear from my best friend and you're that guy, the one that I ran to that day. The first person I told and I just feel like our friendship's been disconnected. I don't even know what to say. And then I pulled up Instagram and I saw the whole Lindsay thing and I was like, damn. So unfortunately, Kyle, he looks at Carl and says, well, listen, the whole Lindsay thing. I just know how much she pays attention if you don't make an effort or if you do. Like she needs that. Which is pretty much the exact same thing that Carl is telling him. You needed to put in the effort and I noticed that you didn't and I'm not liking it. So the way Carl is looking at him, I can't imagine that Kyle can't read his face and be like, that was the wrong thing to say. It was like out of all the things that Kyle could have said. Being like, well, it's really important that you acknowledge Lindsay's birthday. Otherwise she's going to be upset is so like the worst possible thing. And then Kyle goes on and on. I don't even know what he was talking about. You know, like he says that there's you're doing a lot of big things Carl and there's nothing that you've invited me to that I've said no to like you're very active. You're doing cool shit. And then Kyle says in a confessional, I feel like I literally can't catch a break this summer. I can't be the CEO like I need to be. I can't be the husband of man in need. The friend of Carl needs. I'm literally just striking out. And I feel like subconsciously he definitely put that in order of importance. CEO husband friend. These are the priorities and he's striking out at every turn. Kyle then says to Carl if I've done anything anything to you at all I would like to know the Carl tells him I just feel like I'm kind of struggling with how to say what I want to say. Not to be fair Kyle tells him multiple times. If the words ever come to you I do not want you to feel like you have to pull back. Say whatever you need to me. Are we good? Carl like clearly wants to say anything but he's not. So like there's really nowhere to go for this and just be like are we good. And Carl's like okay. Yeah. I don't know. So Kyle again tells him I really want you to feel comfortable talking about things that might be uncomfortable like you can come to me I'm not going to chew you out. Carl says in a confessional I have to be better at having tough conversations with Kyle but like I literally just shut down. The producer asks Carl what did you want to say that you couldn't just get out. And Carl is like I think I just wanted to be like fuck you. Who else do you have in your life that is anywhere like somebody like me that's going to show up for you because if you do this to someone like me that makes me nervous for Kyle. Like if I'm not your friend who do you got. So at the end of the episode Ben pulls Amanda for a chat. Her eyes are so wide immediately like okay really what. So Ben says last week at Lindsay's was the first time I took Sabrina out and at the end she got a bit thrown off because you told her everyone in the house thinks I'm in love with you. And they just kind of threw her off and I didn't really know why you said it. She's wondering why and we're not sure if you were joking or not. So Amanda says well if I said anything that made her upset it wasn't intended that way at all. I was actually literally singing your praises to her. So Ben's like well she felt it was a dig and she was like why is this coming up. Because I came into the house with you and Kyle and I thought it was a bit shit to say it that way. Amanda's gooped okay. Cotton 4k. And I love the way he is wording this because given what we know now. This line of questioning and this line of thinking actually makes a lot of sense. Like I don't know if you were joking in your intention of that but like you already know how I feel. It felt like a dig. Wondering why you would even bring this up. Especially knowing that like Sabrina's going to know I came into this house with you guys through you guys. So like is there something weird going on that really just made her uncomfortable. Good. Her ass needed to be checked. Now did it matter at this point? Obviously not. So there's that. We'll see it left off on a cliffhanger so we'll see what happens next week with Amanda and Ben. Your mate's misses. Thank you guys so much for listening. Thank me for speaking. Love you. Bye.
