Speaker D

Hi, Kim, how are you?

2:49

Speaker B

Great, thanks for asking. So what's on your mind today?

2:50

Speaker D

Well, first of all, I want to tell you thank you so much for all your tips, tricks, you keep me on my toes about watching for hacking and spam and all that. Most recently, consumer cellular, I switched over to that and I'm saving $20 a month, thank you very much.

2:53

Speaker B

I love that.

3:08

Speaker D

I've got my RFID blockers for my wallet now, so all is good. But one of the things that you recommended was using air tags and I wanted to get a sense for how they work. So I got a, I have a cat, his name is Tab for tabby cat. And so I got one of the collars that holds the air tag and I got an air tag off of Amazon, you know, off of their website. Not a third party supplier or anything like that. Put it on there, got it set up. I did the play, the notification. He would look around like, what is that noise? You know, everything was working fine. So anyway, he lost it on December 12th. This was about less than a month after I put it on him. Okay, so I'm like, great, you know, he's lost another caller, but now I'm going to find it. So I get my, find my app out and everything and start searching for it and it says that it's at my, my street address, my house address. Okay, I'm like, great, where at my house? Because there's woods all around and you know, that's where the cat is. It was definitely not inside the house because he had it on when he went outside. So I walked all around the house and used the little thing to see when I'm getting closer and did the directions. So it would tell me and I would click on direction and say you're 10ft. And I'd walk up the driveway and say you're there. And then I'd play the sound notification and no sound. It said it's not reachable. And so I'd walk all around the woods around the house because we're very wooded up here, it's pretty rural and nothing. So I was wondering if you had any tips for me on how to find that darn lost color.

3:10

Speaker B

Yeah, I love.

4:49

Speaker E

Asked the cat yet?

4:51

Speaker D

I did. I asked him, I said, lead me to your collar.

4:54

Speaker E

Okay.

4:57

Speaker B

Lead me to your collar, then I'm out of ideas. Well, how it works is that the airtag is supposed to get its location and pinging off of iPhones around it.

4:57

Speaker A

Okay.

5:09

Speaker B

And so you were actually probably near it with your iPhone, but it. But maybe it's not necessarily there. It's doubtful that the battery's dead because the battery normally will last at least a year. What you can do is mark it as lost in find my absolute.

5:10

Speaker D

I did.

5:27

Speaker B

Yeah. Because what that does is that means anywhere around the world that this collar might be is that somebody's going to find it. You could check it at different times, you know, if. Maybe if, you know, like, there's somebody who's running by that area or if you have some friends who can just kind of with their iPhones, walk around that same area. The whole idea is that we're going to give it. We're going to give it as much coverage as possible.

5:27

Speaker D

Okay. And we had kids and grandkids here for Christmas, so they have later iPhones. So I got them to check for it because they have the precise location if you have an iPhone 15 or greater, which I do not. And so they, you know, they tried, but it kept saying that location not found. But it's funny. Kim says he lost it on December 12th. I've got a notification two times after that that. That he was last seen. Like, the Last one was January 2nd.

5:52

Speaker B

Yes.

6:22

Speaker A

Yeah.

6:25

Speaker B

So, I mean, so it's still. It's somewhere in your vicinity. It's still there.

6:25

Speaker A

And.

6:30

Speaker B

And the cat knows. So I'm just telling you the cat knows.

6:31

Speaker D

Maybe I should just get him to take my iPhone with him.

6:35

Speaker B

Yes, exactly. Put it on the back.

6:37

Speaker E

Brings it right to it.

6:40

Speaker A

Yeah.

6:42

Speaker E

And then you go. And there's $400 of charges on your Amazon app for catnip.

6:43

Speaker A

Yes.

6:47

Speaker D

Yeah, There you go.

6:47

Speaker B

But we love Tabby.

6:49

Speaker A

We love Tabby.

6:50

Speaker E

So if it pings off of iPhones, if she got like five or six people together and they all kind of spread out.

6:51

Speaker B

That's the whole idea that you should.

6:57

Speaker A

Be able to figure that out.

6:58

Speaker E

It could create a better barrier.

6:59

Speaker B

Yeah. So like, she said she had her kids and everybody there over the holidays. But if you. If this ever happens to you, you want to have more of a structured approach, almost like you build a line, a conga line, and everybody with their.

7:01

Speaker E

Phones, like when they're searching for a mission person in the woods, or you.

7:12

Speaker B

Can just buy another air tag.

7:16

Speaker E

Yeah. They are 75.

7:17

Speaker B

No, no, no.

7:19

Speaker A

They're so cheap right now.

7:20

Speaker E

Are they?

7:21

Speaker A

Yeah.

7:21

Speaker B

You can get four air tags for. I've never seen the prices low. Four air tags for about $63 right now.

7:21

Speaker E

I thought it was like $75 a tag.

7:28

Speaker B

I think they're getting ready to release some new air tags and they try.

7:30

Speaker E

To dump the old ones.

7:32

Speaker B

Yeah, that's what I think.

7:33

Speaker A

I know.

7:35

Speaker B

It's just technology.

7:35

Speaker E

It's alap. Org.

7:37
