Summary

The BravBros hosts recap Southern Hospitality's river trip episode, focusing heavily on Emmy's continued racist microaggressions toward cast member Brad and her inability to take accountability. The episode explores relationship dynamics, including TJ and Michaels' chemistry, Mia's post-breakup behavior with Justin, and Lake's struggle to maintain her friendship with Emmy while supporting Brad.

Insights
  • Accountability avoidance: Emmy consistently deflects criticism by claiming victimhood ('I'm being silenced') rather than acknowledging harm, a pattern that worsens when confronted with evidence of her behavior
  • Double standards in conflict: People of color must remain 'buttoned up' and calm when addressing racism, while white cast members like Emmy face no consequences for emotional outbursts, creating asymmetrical power dynamics
  • Friendship complexity: Lake's loyalty to Emmy is creating collateral damage with other cast members (Michaels, Brad) who view her as complicit, forcing her to choose between friendship and solidarity with marginalized cast members
  • Relationship strain from external pressure: Emmy's relationship appears to be deteriorating her mental health and baseline behavior, suggesting her fiancé may be reinforcing her defensive worldview rather than encouraging growth
  • Selective accountability: Michaels holds Lake accountable for information sharing but extends no similar criticism to Emmy for the same behavior, indicating the cast may be avoiding direct confrontation with the primary problem
Trends
Reality TV racial reckoning: Bravo shows increasingly feature explicit racial microaggressions and cast conflicts centered on white accountability, reflecting broader cultural conversations about workplace racismPerformative apologies in reality TV: Cast members are becoming more sophisticated at appearing remorseful on camera while privately admitting insincerity, creating a gap between public and private accountabilityFriendship loyalty vs. moral alignment: Younger cast members (Lake) are experiencing pressure to choose between long-standing friendships and solidarity with marginalized peers, a generational shift in social dynamicsMental health deterioration narratives: Reality TV is increasingly depicting how toxic relationships and external pressure visibly degrade cast members' personalities and behavior over seasonsInformation control as social currency: In ensemble casts, controlling who knows what information has become a primary source of power and leverage in interpersonal conflicts

I feel like I'm just gonna have to start every episode with she's just racist, right? Like until she stops being racist, I'm just gonna keep highlighting the fact that Emmy's just being blatantly racist. Look, I think I'm just okay with the fact that we are now like a few days removed from all the chaos of Bravo. I just wanna ease into it. Even if that means going down the path of talking about Emmy and her very racist characteristics, it's still a better place to be in because I feel like I'm not losing my mind when I do this. I just kinda come back together for so, oh. Yeah, I agree. So let's dive in. As airs are driving a deep left field by Castellanos, it will be on my right side. Oh man, it's eight o'clock. And so that'll make it a- F***! I don't need the spotlight. I shine just fine. Hi, I'm Karma. And yes, I am a bitch. Bravo, bros. Good evening, everybody. Welcome back to another episode of Bravo, bros. Your favorite podcast from the bros for everybody, for whoever wants to listen. I'm your co-host, Steel Russell joined as always by the one and only Soho McBro. What's up, dude? Playing catch up. Thanks a lot, Weston, Amanda, you assholes. Just ruined our week last week. Now the boys have to play catch up. We should have already been done all these episodes, but no, two selfish douchebags had to go off and do some dumb shit and they affected our damn lives. But I'm excited to talk about Soho. I mean, look, it could be worse. We could be talking about Beverly Hills right now. And then I'd be like, God, not only do I have to deal with that, but now it's delayed and I have to talk about this shit. No, that's a valid point. And this is a much better show to recap than Beverly Hills. I mean, that's the good thing about Soho is that as soon as I started watching it, because again, we've been through the ringer. We've been, you know, nose to phones for seven days straight since the shit dropped, trying to get you guys as much info as possible, trying to make sure that we're learned on the topic as well. When I put this on though, it's one show where I'm like, ah, you know what I mean? It's like you kind of settle in. It's like, I'm enjoying this. I enjoy the show. I love the cast members, except for one. So yes, I agree. If we were doing Beverly Hills right now, I'd probably just, I'm at the lake right now if you've noticed a different setting. If we were having to do Beverly Hills, I may very well just go walk in the lake. If we're being honest. Yeah, yeah. We'll save that for tomorrow. But yeah, I mean, and look, it's a great time because even the down episodes of Soho, the ones where there's not like full action pack, brim to brim, they're just enjoyable shows and good timing on their part to not have an action packed episode because I think that would be a little too much for me too. So it's just going to be an enjoyable recap. Well, you know, not talking about Emmy, that's going to be tough. The rest of it's going to be fun. We're going to have a good time. Well, let's jump in. And we start out with Joe and Charles, who is showing him an event space. Old Joe, he's turned in 30. So he's throwing himself a little emo night party. Great theme. I love that. It's very funny that he's speaking as though this is a new thing. He's like, look, emo's a movement. It's like, yeah, dude, he grew up on this shit. Did you just find it? Like that made me laugh really hard. He's too old to be doing that shit. Not the emo shit, obviously. I love the emo shit. But he's too old to be saying things like, dude, emo's a movement. Like it's back. We're really getting back into this. Like, Joe, you're only a couple years younger than us. It never left. If you're like 22, what? My dog is barking at himself on a bed. Hey, sit down. Scooby. Scooby, enough. I know where your deal is, but I've had enough of you. Like if you're 23 years old and you're talking about emo and you're talking about the movement and you want to get back into it, fine. Absolutely. I fully support you. Joe, you're turning 30. Like you're not that far removed from all of this. You know, you were there. Like, what are we talking about here? He thinks it seemed like he stumbled onto a TikTok. Like, what is this? Who's fallout boy? Newfound Glory. Like he just starts fighting all these bands that have been around for literally decades. But yeah, the funniest part about watching this transition with Joe is, again, like we know Joe that we talk to every now and then. So like he's a genuinely nice person. Like what you see on screen is really who this guy is and watching him continuously go through this. Oh, fuck, I'm getting older thing, but not making an adjustment. It's become my favorite trope of this show. Yeah, it really had. And like my favorite part about all of this in this entire scene is he did his makeup. He got full email, put on a new shirt for about two seconds of confession for one line. So he went through all of that for one line. And I do think it's going to come back because obviously, and we know this too, a little insider information, the end of the season is Joe's party at any moment. So I imagine they'll probably bring him back and throw him into that and make sure that he's got that for his confessional. But it's really funny to me if they never go back to that look for Joe and his confessional. And he did all of that for about two seconds. I was thinking the same exact thing. But Mia is FaceTiming with her dad and we get a little bit more info on the Troy situation. So Troy sent her stuff back, did not insure it, which is that a dick move to not insure her stuff sending it back? See, I don't know if I would think about that. I mean, I guess that's where I went. Well, they ask you though, right? Because they add that. I forgot about that part. I was with you where I'm like, I probably wouldn't have thought of that. They definitely said, do you want to insure this package? There's no way they didn't offer that because it's more money for them. Right. Yeah. And it was definitely offered. But like, would I still just immediately skip it like I always do? It's sort of like when you buy like concert tickets or movie tickets or really anything and they ask you if you want to insure it. You're like, no, especially like in the world we live in now. I mean, I have packages stolen off my front porch constantly. I just order from Amazon and I'm like, I'll just get it again. Like they don't even ask you anymore. They're just like, okay, it's missing. Cool. We'll send you another one for free. So I don't know if I would really think about it. I don't know if it's a day. I'm not going to call it a dick move. I'm going to say it's an oversight. He should have done better, but I don't think I'm going as far as dick move. Yeah. I think I'm with you there. She is confused about the whole thing because they seem to be on the same page for a while and now it seems like it just didn't work out. It was the classic. We've seen this in Charleston specifically. It's the classic. I'm going to move to Charleston eventually. And nobody ever does. We've seen this in Southern Charm. We just watched this with Austin. The long distance relationship of Charlotte back and forth was too much for him to handle. So we've heard this song before and unfortunately it didn't work out for them. And look, the package not being insured made this no longer amicable. So now she's mad at him. So that made me laugh because they were getting along really well. It's like, you didn't fucking insure my package. It got stolen off my porch. So you know what, Troy? You'll fuck yourself, buddy. Yeah. I mean, breakups are very precarious positions to be in. Do you think one second for, you know, this is the best breakup ever. We could write a book on this. You know, I love it when people say that. That's one of my favorite things. So we can write a book on how amicable our relationship and Kyle. Kyle Richards. Yeah. Honestly, yeah, that is pretty much where we are. And then one little thing, like not insuring a package. And I love her talking to her dad about it too because her dad's like, well, yeah. I mean, it's all stuff. It's all materialistic stuff, you know, except for that one, that bag. I mean, you can't get the YSL bag. That's going to stay. Yeah. The YSL bag. That's the only thing for dad looks like an absolute rocket too. I think I've seen a picture of him before. He's a good looking man. Yeah. He's a handsome, handsome fellow. That's a silver Fox if I've ever seen one, but yeah. Anyway, moving right along, we get TJ FaceTiming Maddie, which is nice to see nature's healing there. They're back to at least a good place. So they were able to move past all of the Trevor Bullshit, all the stuff from the reunion they seem like they're, she's obviously going to remember, but it seems like she's able to move on, which is important because so much of this show derives on the fact that they're all like genuinely friends. So if you throw a huge wrench into the middle of it, which is a valid wrench to be thrown, like Maddie still had shit with them. I would get it, but the fact that they're moving on means that we can move on. So I'm excited about that. And they're planning a little trip to the river, the Estido. Is that what it is? Estido? Sure. Yeah. I think that's right. It seems like people were more, yeah, that sounds better. I don't even know. It seems like people were a little bit more concerned with the wildlife or, you know, maybe wildlife. I don't know. That story pops up like every summer. Every time somebody's talking about a lake or freshwater places or you're going to a lake or whatever it might be, somebody always brings up. Ocean City, Maryland, two years ago, some dude got some flesh eating thing and he had a cut. Yeah, exactly. That's what happens when you go to sea cream. There's actually signs on the wall. Do not touch the water. You will get a flesh eating amoeba. But yeah, no, I've heard that one multiple times. It usually is fresh water. I'll give you that. But that Ocean City, Maryland, that's the first thing that popped in my head. Popped into your brain. Yeah. No, and that's, it's a, you know, it's a reasonable thing to think about. I mean, you're worried about alligators. But that was the funny thing too, because they're worried. They're talking about alligators. TJ's talking about alligators. And then we get there and they start talking about, I feel like, ah, just, you know, don't go to the sides. Like just stay in the middle and then you'll be okay. I'm like, I don't, it's not exactly what I want to hear. I mean, alligators can certainly swim. So no, I don't know. I want to hear that at all. It should have been like, Hey, they're not going to bother you. Like there was a couple here and there. You might see a couple, but it's okay. It's not that big of a deal. Honestly, more concerned about the water moccasins, those will get you faster. Like a gator probably won't bug you. Uh, water moccasins, you won't see, and then they'll bite you. And then you got like an hour to get the anti-Venom. But that's neither here nor there. Start carrying it on you, you know? You got to keep that thing on me. But the big question is, are we going to invite Emmy? And it's like, you know what? It's up to Maddie. If she wants Emmy there, she's going to be there. As we know from this episode, she's going to be there. But speaking of Emmy, let's go to Republic and Emmy's struggling with some, uh, some water, big old case of water, you know, Hey, little help over here. And Brad gives her the cold shoulder because he's still reeling from this fake as apology that she gave him. He's still trying to figure out how to feel about everything. And he's like, look, I can't be friends with somebody like that. And obviously we get that. But Emmy, the lack of understanding, like, I don't know if she's just evil or fucking stupid or just racist. I'm not entirely sure because I thought she had a little more self-awareness than this, but yeah, she's talking to Maddie. She's like, Brad's still being up South. Like, look, I know that the like unsafe wasn't the right word, but every time she brings up the topic, like why he got upset, she still continues to try to defend what she said. She's trying so many ways to be like, it's not that bad. It's like, dude, fuck you. Yeah. I don't, I don't get it. I truly don't get it. And the biggest issue that I have is the inconsistency. Yeah. You yesterday or I guess yesterday in the last episode, when you're talking to Ella, when Ella brings it to your attention that they're talking about the microaggression, you act like you've never heard the word microaggression before. We had a whole conversation about the microaggression of Folly Island. So that's one thing. It's like, okay, that can't be news to you. If anything, you can be like, are we still talking about this? I thought we squashed it. That would have been a reasonable response to all of that completely forgetting the side where you've now talked to multiple people and said, I wasn't being serious. I just wanted to rush this thing along. I wasn't actually being like normal in my apology. I was just trying to get it all out so that everybody didn't ruin my life. Big deal. Yeah. Whatever, dude. So not only do you forget about the microaggression conversation or actually it's the first time you've heard it. Now you're forgetting that you've told other people that you weren't sincere in your apology and we have footage of that. We watched you talk to your sister. We've watched you talk to Justin Justin then reported it to everybody else. And now they're talking about it again. Why is your first thought not fuck, I need to talk to Justin because clearly he told them that I wasn't being serious about that apology. Like, why are you not thinking that instead? It's like, she turns on a switch where it's I'm on camera. I got to make sure I'm nice and buttoned up and I'm not going to act like I know anything and I'm not going to let them in on the interpersonal details of what I was talking about off camera. It's like, no, dude, you talked about it on camera. Your first thought should be fuck. I kind of shot myself in the foot there. I thought Justin wasn't going to tell on me and he did. So now that's why they're talking about it. It's like it's going to be once again news to her when Justin eventually says, yeah, I mean, we sat down, you talked about this whole thing and then said that you weren't being sincere. She's going to be like, I never said that again. Roll the footage. Like I'm not trying to be Kyle Richards here, but this is crazy talk. That's where my head went to. I'm like, how can you not put two and two together that clearly some things up with Brad now clearly since that conversation, something happened. What have you done since that conversation that could have potentially caused this reaction out of Brad? No, she literally says in a confessional. So you're one on one with the audience. What the hell have I done? Yeah, what the fuck do you think? Are you fucking stupid? Like I don't like saying that that much, but my God, like. The rationalization and sidestepping of her own issues is so frustrating to watch, especially in what we're dealing with currently, right? With the with the West and Sierra and Amanda stuff and the racial undertones of that whole thing. Now we're coming over here and you have another situation where race is involved and the biggest takeaway for me to try to explain to people like why, like how you can understand what's going on here is Brad, a man of color is telling you that this is a fucking issue. Lake is telling you that this was an issue. Michaels is telling you that this is an issue. It is not up for us white people to sit there and go. Now I don't think I don't think so. I think you're overreacting. They're literally telling us this is why this is problematic. This is why this upset me and this is why you cannot do those things. If you claim that you're not racist and here we are again with another dumb ass white person going, that's that's not racist and she's going to do it further in the car ride on the way there and go, I did fucking nothing. I did. Bruh. You're making it so much worse than just sitting there and acknowledging, you know what, that was a microaggression. I apologize. I'll do better in the future. Instead, you're going to explain to people of color that it's not a problem. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Some of the comments we got back when we talked about the same thing with Sierra West and Amanda, where again, it's a middle-aged Midwestern white woman going, that's not racist. Fuck off, Catherine. Like I feel like I'm going insane. It seems so simple to grasp and yet here we are with another situation with a lot of similar notes. Yeah. And the other like added nuance to this whole thing is Emmy is quote unquote allowed to carry on and be as aggravated and pissed off and screaming as much as she wants because no one's going to get upset about that. Like, yeah, we're going to look at him and be like, well, that's fucking crazy that you're doing it, but it doesn't add anything to it. It's almost expected behavior. Whereas Brad has to be buttoned up. Brad has to be very cool, quiet, calm, collected about this whole thing because if he blows up, then it just adds to the whole thing. Call him unsafe. If he blows up. Correct. So he has to be very calm and collected about it. And yet you're still doing this yet you're still going forward with all of this. It's insane. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills and Emmy sits down with Brad who's even nice enough to like entertain it. He's like, yeah, sure. Let's sit down. What's up? You know, I heard some rumblings about like the unsafe things coming up. He's like, you know what? I don't want to talk about this right now. Like this is not the time nor the place. You know, I'll hear you out. Yep. Brad is such a better person than I am. And like, I don't know how he, again, it goes back to probably what he said where he has to be this buttoned up or he's going to have people have misconceptions about him, which sucks because if that was me in this situation and he said this, I'd be like, go fuck yourself and walk out the room. But he, he keeps his composure and he's just like, look, another time. Like I'm not doing this right now. And she takes that and goes to a confessional and says, I'm being silenced. Yeah. Brad is actually her word. She silenced his emotions. It's insane. Yeah. It's like all hyperbolic dude. Yeah. Like, Brad actually has to silence his emotions. Like, right. It's crazy work because what you're describing that you're being silenced like Brad actually is because he can't express himself in fear of people like you, Emmy, calling him unsafe or aggressive or anything of that nature. So I like her trigger words are so funny to me because she's saying those things to try to elicit a response from the audience from us, right? To be like, Oh my God. In turn, what it's actually doing is just highlighting that you're a bigger piece of shit. Like you're using these words intentionally and they're making ready to launch your business. Anyway, let's move on to Brad and Michaels and Michaels has been noticeably irritated because Lake told Ella what was going on with Brad. Ella told Emmy what was going on with Brad. So now Emmy knows what's up and this is not the first time that Lake has let things slip and I think that it's the last time for Michaels. He kind of snapped the little bays that I can't be friends with people like that. She's running around telling people what's up. I can't be friends with people I don't trust. So that's a pretty big statement because they are like brother and sister. Yeah. I don't know. Maybe you think the same thing I do. I think when you're looking at all of it in general it's like okay there's a bit of a stretch in here fine. I see where you're coming from. I do think that like the main issue here is the whole Emmy Lake situation. I do think that friendship is eating away at other people because all of this is going on not just the micro aggression but all of Emmy's behavior towards everybody else. They're looking at Lake like why the fuck are you friends? Why are you friends with Emmy and it's probably really eating away at everybody. So if she does something that kind of shadows towards okay I'm helping me out here. I see what you're saying. Then all of a sudden it just kind of exacerbates everything else where it's like we still don't know why you guys are friends. We can't really make heads or tails of this whole friendship and she's doing all these other things and you're still sticking by her and you're still talking behind our back about things that we talked about together and I again I think Lake's mom probably puts it best at the end of the episode but for Lake it's like you do need to define your friendship with Emmy so that everybody else understands why you're being friends there because so far all we've heard is I looked at my horoscope on my phone and we you know we just kind of hit it off. I figured we could be friends. Then she's being racist as shit to your friends and you're still backing her. So all of this all together is like if you do fucking anything that shows any support towards Emmy we're going to be pissed at you and we're going to cut you off so that you understand the levity of the situation. Yeah okay so it's like a compound issue. It's not just the fact that she's like everybody's letting things slip and like yeah it's more of a sensitive issue for sure but it's again and Emmy can act like she doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about. Emmy should know what the hell they're talking about and that they're talking about these things behind closed doors about her and they're having further conversations about it. So it's not crazy to think like as Emmy's friend is going to tell her or tell somebody else it's going to get back to Emmy. I think it's just everything all compounded like you said. Yeah that makes a lot more sense actually. A stewed observation Muguz but moving right along we get Michaels and TJ. They're getting a little manny petty and I got to say throughout this whole episode and I saw it last year too there's chemistry and they're cute together. I kind of like them together you know and the funniest part is they unintentionally check each other's boxes because on one hand TJ ideal man called Dark and Handsome. Michaels he likes a great body and a full head of hair and an older gentleman. I'm sorry but you just described each other and I think you both know too because we're going to see. Go ahead. No I was going to say that that was just very funny producing going between the two of them in confessionals because everybody knows what's going on and that's one of my favorite things too when we get to the river and they're like yeah we're going to stay together in this room and we've already heard that they've been like hooking up randomly like making out doing whatever we saw them and I think it was Julia that even said we have footage of you guys making out for like an hour straight like you guys were getting after it at Folly Island. So yeah I mean it makes total sense but now we get that where the confessional is after all of this and they're like so why did you guys decide to room together. Are you sure you guys are in each other's types go through your type with me really quick right now. Okay. Yes. So can we just can we just do this. Can we just say that you guys are each other's types. I don't care if you guys date eventually I think you're very cute together but it doesn't really matter. It's just you know be honest with us you guys into it. Yeah. Yeah. Let's see where it goes. I don't know I kind of like that they're both coy about it because it's like not being coy they're being coy but it's so in our face and obvious that they're smooching and stuff but I don't know. I I like their vibe. I genuinely like them together which is funny but let's get in the car. We're going to head out to this house in the middle of nowhere. That's where we learn that TJ and Michaels are smooching for an hour straight. Lots of tension between those two or jumping between cars and like everyone's vibing we're having fun. It's a fucking trip. Hell yeah. Let's go and check out Emmy's car boring as balls. They're not even talking. Yeah. Oh it made me I had Audra looking. I was like I've been in this car before and I fucking hate it. Stop fucking bummer of a car ride. I think it was TJ that even said to him we're getting closer to the house. Wow. This is really kind of off the beaten path. This is a long ride through the woods here. It's going to suck for Emmy later when she has to drive home. Yeah. Probably going to happen. I'm assuming that happens in the next episode because that would be very funny to watch but everybody knows where Emmy is. Everybody understands it's a very weird situation where it's like we would not be inviting her on these trips. I think the only real people that are like friends or trying to support Emmy in any way would be Joe and Maddie but if we were going on a trip and everybody's cool and he's not fucking invited. So it's just like why not make jokes about it. We'll just who cares. You know she's going to go off. She's going to do this and that whatever. She's not understanding what we're saying. She doesn't care what we have to say. She's going to be here and if she speaks up and she gets into the wrong situation boop bop her around. Yep. Exactly. I mean this this was so irritating for me because like Lake is trying her best to toe this line of informing Emmy educating her on what's going on why that's such an upsetting thing to say and why it's not a good thing to say at the same time. She's trying to continue being friends with her. So she's towing this line of supporting Brad and not burying Emmy. I thought she did a good job. You know she just she's very gently explaining like hey I need you to think about how Brad felt in that moment and meanwhile she's also trying to not say too much because she doesn't want to spill the beans because she's in trouble for that. So she's like she's dealing with a lot of shit but she's trying to explain it. Right. A normal person would sit there and listen and go I didn't think of it that way or thank you for explaining that. No you get Emmy banging against the car steering wheel going I did nothing. I did fucking nothing. That's crazy work. That's crazy. I'm saying like why are you on this trip? Go home. Go. I that's it in your kid or whatever. It's like I get it if you're yeah you're on a show you're like why are you putting yourself through this if this makes you that crazy unless again I mean I don't know we're a couple seasons in now so maybe this is just her base level. Maybe she's always like this and it's like I can't distinguish between me being happy and me doing this because I'm always like this and obviously you know the wheel is the common denominator there. I'm sure he probably makes her crazy and has made her crazy but now she is crazy so that is her baseline so maybe she doesn't realize that she's so miserable because this is how she always is. She's just an angry crazy racist person. Yep. She was not like this in season one. She wasn't. She wasn't. It's such a stark comparison from now until the first season that I hope she watches back someday and is like oh fuck. I would love to like even me you know obviously Bravo has eight fucking shows on right now but eventually you know in the near future we could watch season one once again and just kind of go back through it and see if there's any signs because I'm with you. I don't remember her being even close to this in season one. Do you think that will just completely ruined her mentality because she's yes had to believe so much bullshit. That's what I think. I think this relationship has made her insane which is really sad. Yep. Well let's get to the cabin and I love that we get a Mima on Pee Pah shout out from Michaels because I had a man ma and a Pampaw Vural and they lived in Oklahoma. Uh-huh. They lived in Oklahoma. They had a little like it is this the one that you watched dancing the Stars with. No that's Zanny. She lives in Odessa. We would watch the stars the Chas Bono everything out there is just you know that that area of Texas Oklahoma. Yeah totally but uh ma and Pampaw Vural were I think they were in Norman Oklahoma and they lived in like legit like a little cabin next to a quarter field. Damn right. That's where my dad went. Um yep. But yeah and my my Pampaw Vural would drink buttermilk and he would uh crack black pepper into it and he taught he's like you gotta try this will put some hair on your chest. It's one of the grossest things I ever drank in my life. It did give me one hair on my chest. So yeah Pampaw Vural. Oh good. Yeah I got my first chesty from uh from buttermilk from Pampaw. Thanks dude. Well what was that? Chesty. Yeah that sounded different than I wanted it to. I don't like that. We're going to amend that one. Let's not let's not say that again. Yeah RIP Pampaw love you. Uh anyway. You know what that would be? That's like uh like uh if like porn had awards and it would be like the best. I'll go further. Chesty. Go go. It doesn't get further. You're just well. I brought over chesty this year. You're just averaging my Pampaw's memory right now dude. He's in heaven like oh god. He's he's turning over in his grave right now. He was a very yeah he was a very respectable man. He ain't chesty and nobody. Uh where were we? Pampaw threw me off. Emmy is sleeping in Maddie and Joe's room. Yay that's so exciting and Michaels and TJ they are getting their own little room off to the right which is going to be fun to see what those two are up to. But Lake is trying to get to the bottom of what's going on with Michaels. She's texting him on the side like hey are you mad? No response and we know historically when Michaels is mad at somebody it's quite obvious that Michaels is mad at you. We watched that last season. We're seeing it this season. We're getting everybody on the cast saying like oh yeah it sucks and Michaels is mad at you because he's really mad. So Lake is trying to crack through that hard facade and Michaels big thing is and I don't know if he's trying to prove a point. I think something you said earlier like that does sound like he's trying to get it through her head like hey this is kind of more than you think it is. Yeah. So that makes sense to me and also. I do he kind of seems like he likes having this effect on people when he's mad like he kind of seems like he's enjoying it. Power trick. Yeah. It does seem like a bit of a power trip. I noticed that too especially when you know we go a little bit further and Lake is pushing the envelope a little bit like hey can you take some pictures of me and he's just very cold saying no longer way. It didn't even look at her. So yeah I do think he does like I think it's a good point. I think he's doing it for the good reasons but I do think he also enjoys it. I think both can be true. Yeah. Well let's check in with our favorite because Emmy's talking to Maddie the way she intros this conversation just tells you she doesn't understand anything because she says leads off with somehow I'm the bad person now what you just said in that sentence you're implying that Brad's been the bad guy the whole time. We've talked about this. This is the whole thing and yet you lead off with can you believe that now I'm the bad person because Brad this it took such a fucking flip and like I just sat up in my seat because it drives me nuts. Brad put the insinuation out there. Brad the issue to Emmy now is that Brad alluded to her being racist. That's the problem not her micro aggressions not her inability to understand her micro aggressions. Her problem is that Brad called her out. Yes. And she doesn't like that. So now Brad's the bad guy and you Emmy are the victim. Are you kidding me? I cannot. It is insane and we actually talked about this I think in the first episode there was a roadmap where you know obviously we're not going to like Emmy but there's a roadmap where her season isn't the worst season ever and she's going completely against all of that. I mean every turn every time that you think like alright maybe that one got through to you. She just has something else to say to come on just just shut up. Honestly at this point you would be doing everybody a much better service if you would just shut up like enough of what you have to say. Maybe we should silence her like just that would be for everybody. You should be silenced. You should not be allowed to have confessionals. You shouldn't be until you understand what you've done and you can actually take some ownership for it or at their very least take some accountability for how other people are feeling and what they're saying to you. You shouldn't be able to talk. She should just be on time out because again every time she does she says another fucking microaggression. She's talking to Maddie and she's like you know when I said to Brad was you're intimidating because I'm scared of how you retaliate. Why is why is your friend of 10 years or something? Why is he now intimidating? Why are you scared of how he retaliate? Don't you know this man? So what does that point to? It points to one thing that's different about Brad than you and it's pretty fucking obvious and we're all telling you everyone the cast is telling you. All social media is telling you but your stupid fucking fiance is probably telling you the opposite and you're like well he's always right. I love that man and you're not taking accountability. Stop talking. Just shut up. Seriously. It's like, it makes me want to pull my eyebrows out. Yeah, it makes me crazy. Well, let's go tubing. I did like the game where they're running after each other because they got to talk about running through the woods from cops. Yeah. We never got caught. Me and Shooter never got caught. We had to run a few times. Yeah. And our friends got caught but we didn't get caught. We didn't. That's the one thing that I always love is I can say with my full chesty that I've never been caught for underage drinking and nothing can change that. I don't even have to knock on wood. It's fantastic. It's a great feeling. Yeah. Not our friends but. Nope. Anyway, we're tubing with brain-eating amoebas and gators and water moccasins, Michael's and TJ are flirting up a storm. Molly's talking about the 64-year-old that she hooked up with post-rumple mints and I think her explanation kind of explains it away. I agree with you. If you're on rumple mints, I do think that everyone probably looks younger because that is a horrible alcohol that should not exist. Yeah. No, no, it shouldn't exist. It should be like, maybe it should exist just as an example of like, hey, don't drink this. Like, it's good. Don't like, it's there. Yeah. I've had more. I don't need to. Yeah. I had malored for the first time a few months ago in Chicago. It felt right. It did figuratively. It felt right. Physically, it did not feel right. That should not be something you should consume. No, it's one of those where like, there's no way it's that bad. Yeah. And it actually ends up being worse. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, if you're out of booze and there's a bottle of malort and you're an alcoholic, you'll drink that bottle. You sure will. Sure will. But I love that we get the call back to Luanne, which at this point, Joey, just lean into it, lean into it. Nobody cares. I know. We all know. It would be around the bush. It would be cooler if he would just lean into it. I know, right? Like he's like, I would tell you, I don't think they had sex simply because of the whiskey dick effect. Yeah. Because Maddie kind of confirms it. She's like, it does not work when he's drunk. So I don't think they had sex. I think they tried. I think that they were going to. Yeah. Yeah. I think that was the, that was the game plan. Um, I mean, it was the same day that we were on Watch What Happens Life. They recorded earlier in the day at some, uh, we hung out with him that night. And he was with Daniel and it was awkward as fuck. Yeah, that was very awkward, but he did get eggs out of it, which, you know what, if you're going to be with Countess, you better get some eggs out of it the next morning, cause that's what she's known for, uh, that and hooking up with younger men. So two for two there, actually. Yeah. She's such a baller, but like him looking at that painting, like, I love art. Like this is beautiful. She's like, oh, my daughter drew that and her daughter is the same age as Joe. It's, it's, you can't make it up off of Luanne's. The best, but we get done tubing and we got a grace update. TJ walked with her the day prior to tubing and they're kind of all coming to the same conclusion. You know, she needs to figure this out on her own. Maddie, it is time for you to tap out. Like whatever happens to her happens. It's no longer your responsibility. Obviously this is a layered situation because what we found out last week and obviously Maddie's going to carry some of that burden herself, but it does seem like she's acknowledging like I need to step away. I will say on Joe's behalf, he has been a very good support system through this specific issue. Like he does actually say a lot of things around like, oh, yes, Joe. Well said. Yeah. Yeah. He, he has been very good at that. And I mean, look, he's, he's been a good boyfriend. We've been nitpicking a little bit like with the Brad and Maddie situations. Like, all right, Joe, just like take a back seat, let them figure the whole thing out, but everything else. He's just, he's been showing up and doing the right thing. Did he say, yeah, I have to travel with Maddie because she has anxiety and we've gotten confirmation on that. Yeah. Yeah. But you know what? That's Joe. There's a certain charm. Joe, you know, there is, I cannot put my finger on the Mia and Justin thing. She's giggling at everything that he does like that. Just, just to that point, like I can understand like they're both hot. They both want to hook up like that. I get that's pretty easy. She's always so calm, cool and collected. I know. I've never seen this Mia. She's literally laughing at every, all he's doing is saying type shit, which makes me laugh too. I think the type, I'm sad that we missed the type shit era. I wish I could say that. Yeah. I can't. I've tried and I can't. I've made, yeah, it was bad. It's just not right for the type shit thing, but yeah. I mean, we don't want to, I'm going to chalk it up, chalk it up to very weird breakup, you know, she doesn't really know because it's been kind of amicable and the only real issue is obviously they broke up and she lost her stuff and it wasn't insured, but I don't know. Maybe she's just got some weird feelings and Justin's just scratching that itch right now. I could just be it. Yeah, maybe so. She likes dude to smell like onions, I guess, but I guess, yeah. As per usual, when we get a volleyball scene on TV, we get a pseudo top gun montage. It gave me such joy, such happiness. Love baseball. No, not that part. I do too. And top gun was my walk out when I played Pro Bowl. Jen, like that all great. Love it. Watching Emmy suck at this. Oh, yeah. Fed my soul. Like something, something spiritual happened watching her struggle around this game. It was like, I needed it to be able to continue watching. I think. Yeah. It, you know what? I'll just kind of lump her into one of my favorite things is watching, especially nowadays, people who are in great shape and go to the gym all the time watching them try to be athletes and just fail miserably always brings me so much joy. It's like, ah, yeah, can't hit a volleyball can't have hand-eye coordination when you go to the gym every day because you never played sports when you were younger. Oh boy, what are we going to do now? So that brings me a lot of joy. Yeah, I agree. There's something satisfying about that, but the episode ends with the lake and Michael's thing coming to a head. He's not talking to her. She's storming off. She wants to go home and she FaceTime's her mom. Mom literally says, stop telling people's business. Shut up. Lake. Now there's another nuance to this about, you know, white people's business. I don't think we're in a place to speak about that. So we're just going to keep it to it. It did make me chuckle. Like, why are you talking to white people about black people business made me chuckle. I, her mom gathered her very quickly and it made me think like they've had this conversation before, maybe not specifically with all of that, but in terms of her sticking her nose where it shouldn't be getting involved in stuff, sticking up for people, like it's all very on brand for what we're watching. So that's honestly like kind of where I am with all of that. Now, I think she did need this kind of, this kind of talking to, if you will, I agree because of all the things that she's been doing. I do too. I, because I do think that one thing we see from Lake and I, I get it, especially when I was my early twenties, like she's defensive every time that she's checked. Right. I will give her credit when she gets to the actual moment, such as when she was talking to Brad, cause we watched her with Michaels in her apartment. And she was like, that's ridiculous. Like he doesn't know me. She was getting very defensive. The conversation occurred and she was 100% great during that conversation. They were able to air all the shit out. So that was good. But I have noticed a trend because with this Michael stuff, she was defending herself in confessionals with her mom. She's defending herself a little bit and mom literally is like, zip. Nope. Stop it. You keep doing this. You do this all the time and people are going to trust you and now you're getting sad with me, but I don't care because you need to keep your mouth shut. Yeah. It's partly that and also just watching her this entire time on the trip so far. Sulking in her dune outfit. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That was a very, uh, it was like a cross between dune and star wars, which is almost the same thing. Anyway. Yeah. I just, I don't like watching people unless it's Emmy walk around and sulk. Like I like Lake. I want her to do well, but watching you walk around when you know what the issue is, you can't really comprehend, but you know what you can do to try to fix the issue is have a very real conversation with Michaels. If he's not willing to do it, talk to some other people and be like, why is Michael's mad at me and then find out exactly why and then try to talk to him. Go right up to him and say, I know you're mad at me because of this, this and this. Can I try to explain my side of it? And if he says no, one, that's his prerogative, but two, some people are going to look at that and be like, come on, Michaels, like really, she didn't understand what she did. Now she's trying to talk to you about it to try to fix the situation and you're not doing it. He starts to become the bad guy in that situation and maybe she can start to rise up a little bit, but when you're walking around and just sulking the whole time, like no one's going to want to deal with that. Like, oh God, you're sad. I'm happy. Go away. Yeah. We've all had that friend on a trip or something or a party where they're being a bummer and you're like, yeah, I feel for you kind of, but like, I'm trying to have fun and you're really harsh on mellobra. So kick rocks a little bit. So we'll see how that shakes out. I would imagine that they will be just fine. They'll probably sit down and hash it out. And I actually think that she may not tell people secrets anymore after the bag. Yeah. She got checked by Michaels. Her mom, but she hasn't gotten checked by Michaels yet. She's going to get checked by Michaels, but she already knew like that was the funniest part. It goes back to that cut scene of her talking to Ella and I was like, yeah, I said that to so and so and she's like, ah, fuck. But it wasn't the all fuck of like, oh no, like I can't believe you did that. It was the all fuck of like, oh no, not again. Yeah. God, I've been here before. Why did I do this? How did I get out of it last time? Did I just wait or did I deal with it head on? Fuck. I can't remember. Oh, God. Here we go again. It is. I mean, it is kind of wild to me that Michaels has a lot of smoke for Lake in this situation. And again, like I understand, you know, all the different layers to it, but no smoke for Emmy. Like you don't want to deal with it. I get it, but Emmy's doing the same shit. She's talking to other people about things that she shouldn't be talking about. She's admitting that she didn't give a fuck about actually apologizing. Why is no one just going over to her and just ripping her apart? Like I'm not saying Brad should do it. Like I don't think the owner should be on Brad Michaels. You could probably go talk to her. Other people who were involved in note what's going on should go over and be like, what the fuck are we doing here? So watching Lake get this kind of smoke from Michaels and then Emmy get nothing is a little frustrating, but I do think that Emmy's time is coming. It needs to and I need Maddie to step up. I need people to stop softening it because when we talk to Emmy like in that moment, because you can watch Maddie, she acknowledges like as Emmy saying things, you can see that Maddie is like, oh, don't say that. Like she makes faces. I'm like, no, like fucking check her. I don't know why we're being soft and easy on her. But then when she goes to her confessionals or talks to her sister, because no one else will talk to her about serious shit on the show. She skewers Brad, but nobody's jumping up and saying, I agree with you. Now with the Michaels part, like, you know, I don't think him and Emmy were ever all that close, at least as far as I know. So like that. I want Maddie. I need Maddie to step the fuck up. You're like, Hey, no. And bopper. Like I don't get why we're handling Emmy with kid gloves when nobody else in this show has been handled with kid gloves. Yeah. I mean, at this point, she's there for one reason and one reason alone. And that is to just get ripped apart verbally. Like otherwise, why is she even here? I don't know. I don't know. And as Schueter mentioned in the intro, we are playing catch up. Thanks to two assholes from summer house. So we do not have questions up. We are going to keep rolling into our next episode. We got to do the Valley, the Valley's back. Thank God. Great premiere.
