•Apr 11, 20268 days agoSummary
This episode presents a daily rosary meditation centered on prayer and sacrifice, featuring teachings from Saint Faustina about offering suffering for the conversion and salvation of souls. The hosts discuss how personal sacrifice, prayer, and suffering can be spiritually leveraged to help others find faith and mercy, using Faustina's life as an example of radical spiritual commitment.
Insights
- Suffering and sacrifice, when united with Christ's passion, become powerful spiritual tools for intercession and soul conversion rather than meaningless pain
- Personal spiritual growth requires both removing obstacles (like media consumption) and actively offering up unavoidable suffering through intentional prayer and dedication
- The concept of 'leveraging' suffering through Christ creates a multiplier effect where small sacrifices can have disproportionate spiritual impact on others' salvation
- Authentic friendship with Jesus is the foundation for willingness to sacrifice; without deep love for Christ and souls, sacrifice becomes self-imposed suffering without purpose
- Community rosary groups create spaces for human connection, good conversation, and shared spiritual practice that digital media cannot replicate

Welcome to our daily rosary meditation. I want to invite everyone to join us this Monday in our rosary podcast as we begin a brand new series that will revolutionize the way you understand morality and your friendship with Jesus. So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for. I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us to stare, our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and arisenown at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earnst now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb. Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earnst now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, as now and ever shall be, world without end, amen. Our first mystery. By his prayer and sacrifice, Jesus opened the way to heaven, and by baptism he makes us children of God. He makes us his brothers and sisters. And God the Father wants to give all his children the joy of participating with Jesus in the work of saving souls. He wants us all to play our part in helping others to receive the mercy of God and go to heaven. This is why Jesus said to Vostina, my daughter, I want to instruct you on how you are to rescue souls through sacrifice and prayer. You will save more souls through prayer and suffering than will a missionary through his teachings and sermons alone. So on March 29, 1934, Vostina offered her life as a sacrifice for souls, and Jesus accepted her offering and respond. And then in August of that year, Mary came to visit Vostina, but she was sad. Our Lady was sad, and her eyes were cast down, but she made it clear that she wanted to say something, and yet, as if she did not. So Vostina begged Mary to tell her, and our Lady looked at her with a warm smile and said, you are going to experience certain sufferings because of an illness and the doctors. You will also suffer much because of the image of divine mercy, but do not be afraid of anything. And the next day, August 12, 1934, Vostina fell ill with tuberculosis. And from that moment until the end of her life, four years later, suffering was her constant companion. Yet she wasted none of it. In her diary, she wrote, illness also is a great grace. I have been ill for four months, but I do not recall having wasted so much as a minute of it. All has been for God and for souls. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed arth all among women, blessed is with thee, wife and wife, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Praise for us and Earns Now and at the Hour of our Death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, The Lord is with thee, Blessed arthal among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earnst now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, Blessed arthal among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earnst now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, Blessed arthal among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, prefectioner and slave to the hour of our death, amen. Holy Mary, Mother of God, prefectioner and slave to the hour of our death, amen. Holy Mary, Mother of God, preface and earnst now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, preface and earnst now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, preface and earnst now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed arth thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, preface and earnst now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed arth thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, preface and earnst now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, as now and ever shall be, world without end, amen. Oh, my Jesus. Forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our second mystery. Jesus told Faustina, I need your suffering to rescue sinners. That night, she writes, Almost all night, I had such violent pains that it seemed all my intestines were torn to pieces. I threw up the medicine I had taken. When I bowed my head down to the ground, I lost consciousness, and I stayed like that for some time with my head on the floor. When I came to, I became aware that my whole body was pressing on my head and face, and that I was covered with vomit. I thought it would be the end of me. Oh, my Jesus, do with me as you please. Only give me the strength to suffer. Since your strength supports me, I shall bear everything. Oh, souls, how I love you. Now I was at Faustina's convent in Poland. Speaking to one of the sisters about this episode from her life. It's kind of funny. The sister actually looked a lot like Faustina. And I asked this good sister, how could St. Faustina endure this? How could she do this? How did she have so much courage? And this little nun cocked her head, looked at me and said, you can do anything for the one you love. Well, I wanted to punch this good sister because this reply, well, it put a dagger in me. She cut me to the heart because she hit the heart of the issue. I do not love Jesus as I should. So I am not willing to suffer for him or for souls as I should. Faustina loved Jesus and she loved souls. So she was willing to suffer for them. I didn't punch the sister. I just wanted to. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us the stair, our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us and ours now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us and ours now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in earnest, now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in earnest, now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in earnest, now and at the hour of our death, Amen. grace the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in earnest, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in earnest, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in earnest, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, as now and ever shall be, world without end, amen. Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our third mystery, in Colossians chapter 1 verse 24, Saint Paul writes, it makes me happy to suffer for you as I am suffering now, and in my own body to do what I can, to make up all that is lacking in the suffering of Christ for the sake of his body, the church. But how does this make sense? What on earth could be lacking in the suffering of Christ? Only our participation. What Saint Paul means is that Christ wants us, he invites us, to participate in his saving activity, that it might have its full effect. Christ's preaching of the gospel was perfect, but if we don't preach the gospel too, then his preaching won't have its full effect. Christ's prayer was perfect, but if we don't pray too, then his prayer won't have its full effect, and Christ's suffering for souls was perfect, but if we don't suffer for souls too, then Christ's suffering on the cross won't have its full effect. Jesus is inviting us to suffer with him so that his suffering will have its full effect, so that it will save as many souls as possible. So when you face anything you did not choose, do not like and cannot change, accept it with love and offer it to God to help him rescue souls. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us the stair, dearly bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earn us now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earn us now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earn us now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earn us now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earn us now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earn us now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Holy Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earn us now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Holy Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Amen. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, as now and never shall be, world without end. Amen. Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our fourth mystery. We all have family and friends who show little or no interest in God, and rightly so, we have great concern for them. Fostino was no different. Listen to her experience with her sister. She writes, My sister Wanda came to see me today. When she told me of her plans, I was horror stricken. How is such a thing possible? Such a beautiful little soul before the Lord, and yet great darkness had come over her, and she did not know how to help herself. She had a dark view of everything. The good God entrusted her to my care, and for two weeks I was able to work with her. But how many sacrifices this soul cost me is known only to God. For no other soul did I bring so many sacrifices and sufferings and prayers before the throne of God. As I did for her soul, I felt that I had forced God to grant her grace. And when I reflect on all this, I see that it was truly a miracle. Now I can see how much power prayer and sacrifice has before God. We all find ourselves in this situation, feeling hopeless for the conversion of loved ones and friends. But there is something we can do. Every day do the morning offering. In your own words, say, Father, I give you my prayer work, joy and suffering. I unite it to the holy sacrifice of the mass, and I offer it for such and such person for their conversion. And then throughout the day, as you experience contradictions, trials, sufferings, renew that offering, offer it for them by name. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be down on earth as it is in heaven. Give us to stare daily, bread, and free of us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed are thou among women, blessed is a fruit of thee, womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earth and sound and the hour of our death amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed arth all among women, blessed is a fruit of thee, womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earth and sound and the hour of our death amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed arth all among women, of God, pray for us in earnest, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning and now and never shall it be, world without end, Amen. Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our fifth mystery. The conclusion of our Novena to Divine Mercy. Jesus said, Today bring to me souls who have become lukewarm, and immerse them in the abyss of my mercy. These souls wound my heart most painfully. My soul suffered the most dreadful loathing in the garden of Gethsemane because of lukewarm souls. They were the reason I cried out, Father, take this cup away from me, if it be your will. For them, the last hope of salvation is to flee to my mercy. Most compassionate Jesus, you are compassionate self. I bring lukewarm souls into the abode of your most compassionate heart. In this fire of your pure love, let these tepid souls, who like corpses, filled you with such deep loathing, be once again set aflame. Almost compassionate Jesus, exercise the power of your mercy and draw them into the very ardor of your love, and bestow upon them the gift of holy love. For nothing is beyond your power. Fire and ice cannot be joined. Either the fire dies, or the ice melts. But by your mercy, O God, you can make up for all that is lacking. Eternal Father, turn your merciful gaze upon lukewarm souls, who are nonetheless enfolded in the most compassionate heart of Jesus. Father of mercy, I beg you, by the bitter passion of your Son, and by His three-hour agony on the cross, let them too glorify the abyss of your mercy. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us a stare, dearly bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, as now and ever shall be, world without end, amen. O my Jesus. Forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. St. Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl throughout the world, seeking the ruin of souls. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Teresa, I got the greatest email today. Yeah. It is from Kevin, who lives in Christchurch, New Zealand. That's fantastic. Yeah, he has organized a rosary group, and I want to give a shout out to Kevin and Alicia, Rose and John, and all the members of their rosary group at St. Mary's Pro Cathedral there in Christchurch, New Zealand. Now, but, and, oh, that everyone had a small group of family and friends that they could do what you and I do. Pray the rosary together, have good conversation, and then really delight in the friendship. Oh, that everyone had that. But here's the best part. Kevin is an outdoor instructor, which means I think he takes people out into the great beauty of New Zealand. Wow. For hiking and kayaking and things like that. That's beautiful. So we need to go to New Zealand. I need to look up how long the flight to New Zealand is. It's a long flight. That seems worth it though, that seems like a beautiful place. So Kevin, we need to come out and let you take us to the great outdoors of New Zealand. And we'd be happy to pray the rosary with your rosary group while we're there. But since it's such a long trip, Kevin, you better be ready to pray a bunch of rosaries with us. So what struck you with this meditation? I didn't, did I scandalize you by telling you I wanted to punch this little nun? Not at all. I think that was very humanizing. Man, I feel very convicted, especially by that story, Boston Attal's of her horror. We don't even know what her sister is planning. We don't know what it was. We don't know what was prevented there, but the great power of her sacrifice and how much she had to considering that, Postina was already a person of such great sacrifice, that she doubled and tripled her efforts just for this one person and fought so hard and was so shocked at this miracle and the power of that sacrifice. I feel like I have really been failing in my sacrifice for my loved ones because my brother and I really committed to sacrifice for our loved ones. And then Lent came and when I had my other sacrifices on top, my original sacrifices started slipping quickly. And I realized that this is the time to double down, triple down on those efforts. I need to add more. I need to do more because Boston fought so hard. No, you might not think this, but okay, my specific thing is that I gave up YouTube and that was a stupid thing to slip back on when I then gave up TV as well and I was so desperate for media. But if I could really cut that out completely, I know there are more steps I can take to actually offer up that sacrifice now that I've started slipping back and her story has really, really, really convicted me that those are right in front of me. And the choice is there. I just need to decide that I love them enough. I totally agree with that, especially about YouTube. However, you have rheumatoid arthritis. It's chronic. You can't get rid of it. You have at your fingertips something that's very difficult but something that's very powerful. I agree that what you're saying is I shouldn't go for the classic. What was it that St. Saul was in? Hair, shirt, sand, chains and adding pain. But I think there's the combination of offering up what we already have and cutting things out that we know should be gone and combining our love for that. You know, I turned the garage into a gym and one of the things your brother, John and Xavier and I love to do is deadlift. And we have a big lever in the gym so that you can with one hand, lift up the deadlift bar and put more plates on. A lever enables you to move big things. Suffering united to Christ is a lever to move souls. We just have to leverage our suffering. And I think you're right. I think part of it is that I'm not uniting my suffering enough to Christ when I have it or that even when I make that sacrifice of something that might seem small like YouTube that I'm trying to do it on my own. Well, or even just if you're doing what I do, I just forget to offer it up. So I'm wasting it and not leverage. I can't get rid of the suffering. I could at least leverage it, but I forget. But that's why this story is such an incredible reminder. But you're a better person than me because through this meditation, you're thinking about how you can do more to help your loved ones and friends away from the faith. All I'm thinking is I don't wanna suffer like Faustina because frankly, I don't love Jesus and souls. I love myself more than I love Jesus and souls. Just being honest. I was amazed by how Faustina just said, I love souls. I know and what I say is I love myself. So, but all we have to do is just commit to growing in friendship with Jesus and he will take care of the rest because on our own, we're just weak. So let's just commit to growing in our friendship with Jesus. That's all. And you should stay off YouTube. I agree. I agree. There's nothing good there anyways. And it's all becoming AI anyway. This is something I'm genuinely hoping. This is the opposite of what everyone else is hoping for. I'm hoping AI will corrupt all online content so much that people, everything will just be worthless to them and they'll have to get off the internet. Yeah. So you're the option. I agree. It genuinely helps me because I'm like, I don't like watching something and then finding out it's AI anyways. That never happens in real life. It hasn't happened to me once. I can guarantee, I can promise everybody the Rosary podcast will never go AI. We will always be our fallible imperfect selves. That's true. We commit to you to be imperfect. It's genuinely kind of beautiful though that it's making people love more and more things that are very human, things that are flawed, things that aren't so overproduced that you can't tell the difference. And there's a beauty in that. It's awesome that. It also means people are gonna have to go back to live music, live performance, physical art. And I think that's incredible. I'm like, I'm okay if the whole digital media scape crumbles around us and people have to go back to seeing something in front of them. And you know, just you and I praying in front of each other. Well, if the whole digital thing goes down, we're gonna have to start doing this Rosary podcast, this Rosary on ham radio. Everybody get their ham radio. You know, Pauline Jericho did it, no radio. Yeah, we'll find a way. We'll find a way. Let's be apostles of friendship, good conversation and the Rosary. Share this with others.
