Summary

The hosts discuss the killing of Alex Paredi by ICE agents in Minneapolis, remote learning complications during snow days, and broader issues of government accountability and institutional trust. They also cover Grammy nominations for Clipse and Pharrell, Chad Hugo's lawsuit against Pharrell, and Nicki Minaj's Trump summit attendance.

Insights
  • Government overreach and lack of accountability create a crisis of institutional trust that extends beyond individual incidents to systemic distrust of media, elections, and institutions
  • The deliberate spread of misinformation by officials before reviewing evidence suggests a coordinated strategy to control narratives rather than seek truth
  • Complex geopolitical issues require deeper education and guest expertise; speaking without knowledge can be counterproductive despite good intentions
  • Different distribution ecosystems (radio, streaming, blogs) create different definitions of success, requiring multi-platform presence for true cultural impact
  • Wealth concentration and profit motive drive policy decisions that harm vulnerable populations, with consequences that extend to families and communities

The Snow Day edition. How do you feel about that, Laura Stiles? It's all right. That's all right. I'll tell you this. OK. There you go. That's just it's. Well, OK. Hey, the snow is pretty real. It was pretty real. Yeah, man. You know, Ebro, let me ask you a question. As a parent of a child who's been in school for a minute, I don't know if you guys did you do the remote learning? The remote classes? We had to do it during COVID. Why don't they make it so damn complicated? Why can't it just be easy? Oh, my God. Like last night, I was just trying to like set it up and I have a chat with all the parents and all the parents are complaining because none of us can like figure this out. Yes, they sent they sent us a device and then it's like a particular site. I mean, look, they sent it, so I'm using it. OK, because I, you know, and then it's like, log into this portal and do this and this and wait for this. And, you know, it was just portal after portal after portal after portal. Like, bro, why is this so complicated? Well, I will say, um, portal at the portal after portal after portal is will always be under the guise of safety measures. I mean, I know. There are weirdos if there's not enough firewalls and there's. And also remember this, there's families with weirdos in their family. In your students class. So if they don't have portal after portal and safety measures, then you got Uncle So-and-so who's got whatever jumping. Oh, right. Tell you, this is like you're not. Listen, you're not wrong, but I feel like I've been on enough really important calls where it's like maybe two portals are enough or three. Right. Well, this leads us. Don't you think this leads us to, I think, a very great honor for the new mayor? I would like to, from me, I don't know how you guys feel, extend to the new mayor who we were big fans of, Mayor Mom Donny, the first ever as mayor. Congratulations, you played yourself. Wait, why? What happened? This remote learning announcement was. It wasn't an announcement. Yeah, it was. Yeah, it was. They decided it was a while ago. No, he he he came out and well, that is even worse. Hold on, then it's a double. Congratulations. You're right. You're right, Rosenberg, because they kept all the parents are like we're kind of like on the on on hold. Could be, could be, could be all Saturday. And then officially on Sunday, they were like, yep. No, that's not what I'm talking about. That's not what I'm talking about. Well, he came out and announced it this weekend. The rule about no snow days. You guys don't remember after COVID when they decided that they weren't going to do snow days anymore and they were just going to do remote learning and everybody was like, what the hell are you talking about? We don't get snow days anymore. I don't remember that. I don't remember that. The permanent decision. You know, permanent school board thing. Well, but it's done. But then it's even more of a congrats for Mom Donnie because he got up because he got up there and announced it as if the decision was made. Well, no, but but that's I think the decision was made that people weren't going to be able to come to school that they were going to have to stay home. Not the decision was made that they were going to do. OK, but go go go watch it. You didn't hear it. Trust me. No, I saw him say it. I said, we decided. Yes. We decided he said it's one of these. He said it's one of these two things. That's what's going down. But he should have if what you're saying is true and he didn't actually decide anything. It was already decided. Oh, well, then he should have definitely said, as you guys know, there's a rule in place. I was under the impression that in New York City, they don't do snow days anymore. They do remote learning. I I thought. Well, I hate it. Yeah, Laura, I thought it was when you get to a certain amount of days, then you go, hey, we don't want to extend the the year into the summer. So we're going to have learning at home. All of the snow we've had so far has fallen on the weekends. I think this may have been the first real bad snow day on a weekday. Yeah, I think some teachers in the chat, maybe teachers who will you guys better be gearing up to get in your portal after portal. I don't know. Yeah, it's portal time. But I was under the impression that they were going to do remote learning on snow days instead of just having kids do snow day. Well, that was a thing. Well, if you didn't whoever decided then, because it seemed like he did. But whoever decided you don't ever get to do it again is the biggest graduations you played yourself. It's punishing everyone. Like, not only does it take away a fundamental classic fun thing of childhood if you grow up in an area like this, but the parents just, Ebro, the parents just can't do it. Now they got it. It's it's a double whammy. No, and what makes it hard, it's like, OK, a parent has to stay home and be with the child and go through everything. So you can't necessarily leave him with grandma, you know what I mean? Or somebody like, I know I have people that you can't stay with who wouldn't understand, who just wouldn't get it. And then Rosenberg, on top of all this, I looked at the curriculum and it's like movement, snack time, snow play. Bro, all this, all this for you guys. So now here's the other option as a parent and just so you guys are clear. You can also just not do it. There's no ramification for you being like, I kept my kid out of class today. Yeah. But then your kid is absent. Yeah. But what's that going to do? They account against you if you don't have if you have a lot of absences. Like, you don't want that. I mean, are you going to have a lot of absences? I already did. Yeah, I've got to say, you know, Laura already has a vacation plan. So she needs to save the absence. Laura with the button. Oh, come on, man. Congratulations. No. We're playing this. She make you're culturalizing her. Guess what? Well, no, I get it, but you got to make choices. No, man. So annoying. It is annoying. Remote learning is annoying. During the pandemic, it was mad annoying. Because, yes, as a parent, member parents were complaining that they were like, yo, this is what teachers have to go through dealing with kids. Please. We thank you, teachers. We miss you. We love you. Pay them more. Y'all don't remember all that? No, I do. Yes. And they still feel that way. But. But there you go. That's that's what that's what this was all about. But, ladies and gentlemen, yes, did you guys enjoy the snow at least? Did were you able to take Maya outside? Did Kenzie get a snow play yesterday? Did any of that happen? I went outside with Maya for about five minutes. It was sleeting and hitting her in the face. I'm going to keep it real with you guys. This snow was just not John Blaise. Like it was a big snowstorm. It's it's it's wreaked havoc on the streets and all that. There was no beauty to it. It wasn't the big fluffy flakes that you ought to take a picture of. It was just like nasty, endless sleet and ice falling from the sky. So what people were definitely people were definitely heavy in Central Park. So like, oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. If you were like older, for sure. All the parks. Yeah. Stuff over the stuff by my house. Um, was definitely light and fluffy on this side. Oh, well, yeah. Just in my area. Now, the street was a mess outside on the street was. But what I'm saying, when you looked out your window, though, it didn't look like a beautiful Christmasy flake. Falling did it? Uh, no, it was sideways, upside down. And sometimes you couldn't even see it. You wouldn't even really see anything. It's just coming down. You know what I mean? But there were the, what do they call it? Snow drifts where, you know, the wind blows it up into a nice pile. Kids were playing in that. Oh, yeah. I'm not saying it wasn't playable snow. It was definitely playable snow. It just didn't look dope, if that makes sense. Oh, OK. There you go. Yeah. No, outside. It was snowy snow outside when I stepped outside. I think today, matter of fact, in Brooklyn at the Fort Green steps today, I saw on Instagram, if you're a skier or a snowboarder, they've some people have taken upon themselves to enact some sort of New York City snow festivities. And you can go snowboarding at the at the Fort Green steps. Doesn't sound the same. I know. But if you just want to get some get imagine snowboarding in Fort Green gentrification on a thousand. Oh, man, that is a crazy concept. You just dropped right there. Nah, Fort Green Park snowboarding. It's like it's like getting a macho latte in Brownsville. You know what I mean? And it's all happening. It's really all going down. It's all now. That's the fun part of the weekend for us. The terrible part of the weekend was the fact that ice agents murdered a man in the streets. Oh, my God, guys. Alex, Pira, no, Alex, Paredi, Paredi. Oh, Paredi. Excuse me. Alex Paredi. I see you nurse at a veterans hospital. The videos were circulating of him, you know, giving condolences and last words to veterans in the hospital. Oh, that choked me up, Ibrahim. When I saw that video, I was like, what a beautiful human being. Like that was tough. That was a tough one. You see a pee? Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean, look, from the second I saw this guy, from the second I saw him, I know you can't. It's like unreasonable to judge someone. But like you could just tell him like, oh, this guy is just a man. She's this is just a good guy out here doing good guy stuff in the world. And the reason he got murdered was doing good guy stuff. Got killed doing good guy stuff, looking out for a woman who's getting abused by the by the ice. Put an ice agent's ice agents, push this woman to the ground. And the scene before he's helping the woman before the ice agents had even approached him, he's like waving traffic through. On the street, just just helping out, just trying to help make things better. Waving traffic through. He definitely had his iPhone out and for the red, yo, hit the button on anyone out there. Congratulations. You played yourself. They're twisting and turning and trying their best. They were like, oh my God, he was armed. He was ready to attack. He was not ready to attack. He didn't forgot that part. He was legally armed and the ice agents took his gun. And from the videos that I've seen, the different, you know, videos, forensics, Instagram agents. It look, it appears that an ice agent took his gun and then fired his gun. Are you that he fired his gun? People are alleging that the guy in the gray jacket that took Alex Peretti's gun, when he turns to run away, they zoom in and it appears as if the ice agent fired his gun, which then prompted the other agents to start firing at Alex. Oh, I did not see that. That's very interesting. That's being alleged. Huh. I will say this. It would that that stupidity would, I guess, give, make some idea of how it could have happened. Because what I have is the image I have is a man is facing the ground, hunched over, making no attempt to fight back with his back to the officer. His gun has now been removed and they and the dude just started pumping bullets into his back. That's right. Now that's what we all saw as as evil as all of this has been so far. It even went beyond the scope of what I would have expected from ice agents in Minneapolis. I cannot. I don't know how you had X people. I don't. I don't. I don't like you because there'd be no way for the same reason that Trump last night had to say, well, we're going to have to review all of it. They made it almost. It's so awful. Yo, guys, I thought it couldn't get worse than they did. This is significantly worse than we made it. This is significantly worse. There's no argument to be made. You can't make an argument. He was putting anyone in danger. You can. And they're trying. I guess you did. Everybody got what's the guy that's dressed up as the as the on Gino Bajino Bajino that's dressed up as for the guy from the Tiana Taylor movie. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That guy who's dressed up as the guy from the Tiana Taylor movie who's dressed up as a Nazi. That guy is really, really a bad guy. But what's that guy's name again? I don't know. You said Boncino. Boncino is I get confused. What's his name? I get confused whether Boncino is just a podcaster. If he's actually the guy who either way, I know who you're talking about. With that, he's got the he's got the military cut in the in the in the cross body, you know, Nazi, we're getting an outfit on. But anyway, these people are not qualified to be doing this work. That's what's ever clearly evident. And this week is going to be interesting because, you know, the heat is on Chuck, the Chuck Schumer's of the like in the and Congress, because they're supposed to allow more funding to go to Department of Homeland Security and specifically ice. Yeah. So the idea is that they could maybe block giving them any money, right? I mean, that's what people are expecting. Several people are expecting. Can I ask a question? Because I mean, I'm on the fence between like, I wanted to just rage all day as I rage basically on Twitter, like an idiot all weekend between that and wanted to ask a question about what can we do in a perfect nothing's perfect. But if we had a perfect leader right now, like, what do we do? Like, what do we want to see them do? We know we want the Democrats to do something. What does fighting back actually look like? You know what I'm saying? What do we really want? Fighting back actually looks for me. I could just say fighting back would look something like a. Stop funding this thing. Sure. Right. B. How is the attorney general Pam Bondi saying that will remove ice from Minneapolis if you give us the voter rolls? Like, what does that mean? Like, why do you need that? They want election details because they want to take Minnesota from the Democrats at the midterms. They are trying to get access to the voter rolls because they want to take the election again. This is so wild. The next few months, how much the 2024 election was tampered with 2020 was a 2025, whatever, November, 2024. It's unbelievable that she straight out just said it. Oh, we'll get ice out of there. If you if you turn over your voter rolls. So that it would look like not turning those voter rolls on. It would look like not funding ice and it would look like getting ice out of Minnesota and it would also look like disbanding this whole ice thing all the way around because the way it's been funded and the way it's been set up clearly, clearly is with unqualified individuals. They're fast tracking individuals into ice without training. These people are not trained to be on the streets. Why are you pushing a woman with a phone? Why are you pushing anyone? But we're but realistically, we're not abolishing ice while the Republicans have the control they have. It's not going to happen, right? No, absolutely not. So like, I'm just I'm just asking the question because I just want to know, like, we're disappointed by so many people. Like AOC is one of the only people who I really look at and see actual leadership from the tone that she sets in these moments. You know what I mean? And I'm but I'm just thinking of like, what do we do? What do we really do? Well, the other thing is, is I mean, I know I don't think we have the video, but we have Kathy Huckle, the governor of the United States. You had to New York or excuse me, Governor New York talking to the talking to, you know, Trump and basically saying, Christie Noam needs to be fired. These people need to be fired. This whole like, they need to resign and all. No, they need to be fired and they need to be arrested or they need to be arrested because they're breaking the law. That's the other part. They are breaking the law. Laws are being broken. And they're doing it like this is the one of the things like people kept posting the videos this weekend. Like, yo, look at this. I had my good friend, Jody kept sending me stuff like he was so emotional. He's like, look at this video. Look at that. How can they say, I'm like, do you get it, bro? It doesn't matter what's in the videos. They, they, this isn't even, Ibrahim, what's beyond lying? This is intentional gaslighting. They know they said that he attacked the ICE agents brandishing a firearm. They said he was a domestic terrorist. They said he showed up there with the intention to harm ICE agents. Meanwhile, these are the same people who will die for the right to carry a firearm. He had a legally concealed firearm. And I'm seeing these people online going, well, you don't want to get shot. Don't bring a gun to a protest. I thought you guys were the party of bring a gun wherever you want. He wasn't doing anything. And what about Kyle Rittenhouse? They love Kyle Rittenhouse. They love Kyle Rittenhouse. No, and the, and the old couple, remember the old couple on their front porch? That's right. With the machine done. Right. Right. And they invited them to speak at the Republican convention. They were heroes. However, this guy helping people with. Hit yourself with the button. I can't even believe that congratulations. You played yourself. What about, what about, what about with these people? That's what I'm saying, though. I'm saying there's no. The only thing left to do. Is insult and curse at these individuals. That's the only thing left to do. There is no way you're having actual adult conversations with these individuals anymore. You're not doing it. People who ran around talking about, don't tread on me in the second amendment and the first amendment. And then now all of this is happening. And they're like, well, don't do this. And again, you don't want to get hurt. Don't bring a gun. First of all, it wasn't even, it wasn't even a protest. That wasn't an actual protest. What was going on in the street? Those were neighbors, people who lived in the neighborhood, right? Out there because ice was grabbing people and has a history of grabbing and harassing people right now in Minneapolis. Right. Who are US citizens? I don't even think that was the actual protest. Nobody said that. Yeah, no, you're right. There was, that didn't look like there was any organized protest happening. It looks like it was just more madness in the street. Because that's what they're doing. And now they're going into people's homes. Like straight up going into people's homes. I don't know if you guys saw the video of the man who was like, came out of the shower, they pulled them out and is underwear in the snow. Yes. US citizen, by the way. And they just, you know, they have to fill their quota. So they'll snatch everyone up, get them processed in a couple of days. Oh, whoopsie. You're free to go with no repercussions. And to answer your question, Rosenberg, there's really nothing we can do other than highlight these things. Right now in New York City and in the tri-state area, there is like ice watch, Instagrams and chats where people are saying where ice is and encouraging people to stay in the house in New York City right now. And remember, Department of Homeland Security running down on people that they believe were illegally here is not new in New York City. They've been knocking on doors and they go to, and they've been doing that in New York City for as long as I can remember, knocking on doors between five a.m. and eight a.m. or between five p.m. and eight p.m. But to Laura's point, entering houses, killing people on the street, pushing people, all of this sort of thing. That, listen, we never see anything like this in the United States in this form. Since, since, since they were doing it to black people, since they did it in internment camps to Japanese people, since they've done it to Mexican Americans. Because let's not act like this is brand new, please. Ebro, you're, you're talking without moving. You're like, you're Miracoy. Travel without moving right now. Yeah, man, but it's just, even though, yes, we know this is nothing new, but right now, right now, it's bad and it continues to get worse. And that's one of the things that gets me so angry. There are a few different arguments that get me the most angry. One, people love to bring up, you know, previous presidents deporting just as many people to which, again, it's like, why are you, no one's saying. They love bringing that up. No one, no one's saying that deportations don't happen or that deportations shouldn't happen with people who need to be deported for whatever legal reasons and due processes happen that shown their time is up here. They haven't done the legal work and they'll have to go. Right. Right. They're not ripping them apart from their family. Right. Or are you committed a crime? Or you committed a crime. Yes. I think we can all agree you committed a crime. Get out of here. No, no one's arguing that point. They, so they bring that up all the time. The point is how it's being done and that if you can't see that this is a completely different process, shame on you. You're, you're being willfully ignorant. And then the second one, Laura, that drives me crazy is, and this has been happening now for just years. And I know, I know this probably sends Ebro into a frenzy when these right wingers try to compare the behavior of rogue criminals to people who represent the U S government. In other words, we get upset about ICE agents killing Alex Pretty. They go, what about the guy who killed Lake and Riley? Yo, no one thought that was okay either. No one thinks when anyone gets murdered, it's okay. Those are not police officers. They are not government officials. I know. I know. Are you choosing to be ignorant? Why? Congratulations, you played yourself. Need anything from Tesco like Nescafe Azir and 90 grams instant coffee for just three pounds 50 this Easter with your Tesco club card because every little helps. Majority of larger stores as zero 90 grams, sense 14th of April, club card or app required. That's that sounds incensed to Jays. I'm. I'm. A little Dion sends us a message and the bro, can you turn your mic back up? Your mic was like hot before you left. Now you came back and it feels low. It says he sent us a super chat. Donald, he wrote orange, orange peel and all of his sick offense are purposely spreading misinformation for their benefit. Agreed. They're voluntarily complicit and lying about things like this. So their agenda continues to stay on track. Agree. I couldn't agree with you more. Yo, but I've seen clips and I have to, I've been like, God, Rosenberg, I've just been trying to like limit the amount of stuff I see because it just for my mental health, right? So I try to limit it, but I did see some clips of even some Fox news host asking certain questions that I was like, Oh, wait. Even you. Well, that's my point. This one seems to be getting they, they effed up in the sense that it was so bad that even people on their side were forced to be like, Oh, you're not supposed to do it like that. You're not, you're not supposed to make it so obvious. You shot the guy in the back six times while he was on the ground. Don't worry. We're going to investigate. And he never took his gun out of the holster. Never. Not even the gun out of the holster. He turned his back to them. He was wrestled to the ground. They were punching him in the face. Then they took his gun and then they shot him. They murdered that man on the street. That's it. That's the end of the thought. No. And I thought the plan was for them to try to do it in a way where they could at least present another argument. No, they rush to put something out before they've even looked at the video hoping that they're lying can shape the narrative. And I got news for you. I in my at least on my algorithm, there's nothing you're doing that is shaping any of these narratives in your favor. Literally nothing. So if you believe what's the lady's name that speaks on behalf of the White House? Katherine, I love it. Oh, Karen, Karen, Donald Trump, Pete, head, Seth, Kristi, Noam. The man dressed up as the Tiana Taylor movie character, whatever your name is. If you believe any of this is working in your favor, it's not. You're being lied to by the people running around hanging out with you. Y'all are all being lied to the old. They know they can't believe that this is is is helping their narrative. The only thing I I the only thing I believe that they really sit there and think about is is this causing enough distraction and chaos and mayhem to the average American that allows us to continue to make our billions of dollars and change government policy right beneath everybody's noses. Yes, without everybody being able to pay attention. That's exactly what's happening. And then, you know, yes, Congress and people are demanding investigations. We don't trust the investigations. And that's a problem. We none of us here trust these investigations. Well, that and you know, that's the that's the next stage of this democracy falling apart. And we've talked about that many times and we can move on after this. But the fact that people don't trust elections, you don't trust your media. You don't trust your government, right? You don't trust any of your institutions, even your higher education institutions. You trust nothing. What do you have left at that point? You don't trust it. There's people who you don't trust the doctors. You don't trust the scientists. You don't trust anything that is an institution that is supposed to be keeping you safe, informed and alive. It's it's it's a good point. Yep. It's the they've set up the perfect storm. Yeah, where now there's nothing to trust. And so then you have to immediately you go to OK, who does this benefit? It benefits the billionaires. It benefits the people who can pay a lot of money to change how we see each other and change how we see our country. And they also benefits foreign powers. And we've always alleged that Trump and his whole system is working on behalf of foreign powers. And the beautiful part for them is they're all getting paid. If the plans end up like falling apart for them, with the exception of like Stephen Miller, who literally won't be happy until like there's no color in our country and it just it's the it's the fourth Reich. With the exception of him, he wrote the rest of them don't even care. Like if the plans eventually stop working to fall apart, they all got their money and it ends. They don't give a shit. They just want to they want pure chaos and to stuff their pockets. That is it. And this other stuff that the. Yeah, sure, they want to do as much as they can. But if it fails, they're going to be gone. It's all money. Trump's made what you brought over a billion and a half, a billion and a half this term. That's what's being reported. That's what's being reported. So his dumb kids are making making hundreds of millions of dollars. Well, look at the NRA on the right side of history. Even the NRA spoke out against the actions and narrative afterwards. No way. Miracle. What a miracle. Oh, I got to look this up. You know, I know I trust King Luke talking about trust. NRA and Ebro, don't worry. This is from the BBC. So I trusted it. OK, OK, here we go. Here we go. NRA and other U.S. gun activists push back at Trump officials over Minnesota shooting. Bro, if the NRA is not with you and you fired a gun, you're either black or you did something really bad. Me. You know, the fact that white people fired a gun, government officials, white government officials fired guns and the NRA is saying, nah, hold on. That you know, that's bad. I want to I want to go back to hitting the button. I want to there's this there's this story going around around this furniture store called Furniture Connection. I sent this to you guys in the chat. You can call this under ish ebro. Oh, gosh, OK, OK, OK, OK. It's such a phenomenal story on so many. All right, can you explain it to us? Are you able to make us understand it? Because basically this guy's wife went on social media saying that ice needs to keep and I'm paraphrasing, keep shooting people. And then the husband had to come out with a statement saying that she's not involved in the company, but everyone's like, but she's your wife. So she's in like, what do you even say? Right. Run the clip. Hi, I'm Dave Bergen, owner and president of Furniture Connection. Today, a comment was made on social media by my wife, Joy, regarding the fact that she's not involved in the company. And I'm not saying that she's not involved in the company. I'm saying that she's not involved in the company. By my wife, Joy, regarding the protests in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is not involved in Furniture Connection, but I understand her words reflected on me and our company. Oh, but she is involved. If you haven't kept up with this story, it's kind of funny. So his wife decided to jump on the Internet and say this. Oh, wow. OK. Yeah, as bad as bad could be. Yeah, on multiple social media apps. And of course, it took the Internet all of about seven seconds to figure out who she was, what she did, where she lived, and the fact that her and her husband own a business in Clarksville, Tennessee. And as you can see, prior to his wife, they had a four and a half review on Yelp with 27 reviews. Yeah. Today, they're at a one point two with six hundred and forty six. Yeah. And three different times in that video that man says this person has no affiliation with Furniture Connection. Except she kind of does. Yes. Thanks. Your shot to map Randolph for the IG post. I'll follow that guy. He's a great guy to follow if you don't follow. But has great stories and little nooks and crannies in the United States. But also come to find out. I went down the rabbit hole and hit the button. OK, congratulations. You played yourself. That guy right there talking, everybody's putting all his business out. His he's married to that woman who was doing that on social media. She was his employee before he was married to her. And the only reason he was able to get married to her was because his wife that he was previously married to got blown up in a boat accident that he was on the boat of and he jumped off the boat and his wife got blown up in the boat. Oh, my God. According to reports, according to what I read, so then he marries his employee and then that's his employee doing that on social media. All right. Good story. Good time. That where did where did these things? What part of the country was this in again? I think he's in Missouri. I think that's where. Sir, sir. You admit. Yeah, I think so. But anyway, I just thought it was a good little tidbit. People out here playing themselves. How do you get on social media saying that? A lot of people. A lot of people are no seriously. When I see some of these posts and I see some of these vile comments from people, it's unbelievable. I'm like, you disgusting human being. Listen, my wife was encouraging me this weekend to really stop engaging. And, you know, she's in a she's in a place where. I think like, you know, the three of us are with varying degrees of each of us are able to engage in this stuff that deeply affects us. And yet also not have it like poison us for the day. You know what I'm saying? Like, yeah, we can get. We try to talk about it, fight about it. And still, it's kind of just part of what we do and we're used to it. My wife is more of the category of like when she's when she gets into it, it takes over her and completely shapes all of her feelings and how she's behaving all day. So she was like trying to stay away and encouraging me to not engage and, you know, when I look at the comments that I get back to everything I say, I certainly understand her point. This this thing that we used to have called Twitter is so nothing but a poison. Well, it's insane. Like the second social all of them, all of them. Twitter's bad. The reds is bad. Right. What's the this whole tick? You know, no, you can't call somebody a Zionist on TikTok. I saw that. I saw that. That's a slur now. Yeah, there's a whole wave of people deleting their TikToks. But they have the new the new terms and conditions or whatever. The whatever. Yeah. Or TikTok that people are up in arms about. Play the play the Zionist video for me, Resa. We made a change to designate the use of the term Zionist as a proxy for a protected attribute as hate speech. So if somebody were to use Zionist, of course, you can you can use it in the in the sense of your proud Zionist. But if you're using it in the context of degrading somebody, calling somebody a Zionist as a as a dirty name, then that gets designated as hate speech to be moderated against. Over the course of 2024, we tripled the amount of accounts that we were banning for hateful activity. We also have, I think, over two dozen Jewish organizations that are constantly feeding us intelligence and information when they spot violative trends. There is no finish line. There's no finish line to moderating hate speech, identifying hateful trends, trying to keep the platform safe. There's no such thing as an end game. Look, if we can do it forever, end game. Well, by the way, you know, and they should be doing it, right? Like as hate speech evolves, as people come up with new terms. Oh, oh, yes, sure. The individuals like there isn't a time where monitoring hate speech on these platforms should stop, in my opinion. And who are who are modest here and tell a group that a term that's, you know, being used hatefully shouldn't be monitored and and taken taken off. You know, because there was a time when you could just throw around the N word on video game platforms and social media platforms. They got that up out of here, too. I mean, you could do it on Twitter. That N word is flying all over the place. They don't care. But Twitter, Twitter, as we just discussed, Moskland is is a disaster. Congratulations, you played yourself. King Loose points out that the new tick tock terms are a disaster. I haven't been able to compare and contrast enough. But people who get into the terms and conditions on social media claim that tick tocks, tick tocks, new terms are overreaching. I always assumed all of these platforms are taking my face. My kids face my family face my friends, who my friends are. They want your geolocation so they know your movements. I assume that was the game from the beginning. Yeah, but this is like taking religious information, sexual orientation. Only tick tock does this now. What you're saying, I'm just like, really? And then I think I saw I saw your if you're a documented or not. But I'm like, how would they know that? And Laura, I'm clarifying. Yes. Yes. Tick tock. Yes. Is asking for now. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. For the for the Zionist thing. Listen, have I seen the word Zionist used in a way to be intentionally hateful to Jews? Absolutely. I have. However, at this time, when people have now learned about what is happening and the death and destruction of people in Gaza, there is a lot of commentary involving the idea and problematic nature of Zionism. That is a reasonable and needed conversation. And the idea that you would make that word one that you just simply can't use only furthers every bad narrative that exists about Jews already. And that idea of Israel's plan to make everyone associate Israel with Judaism all the time, it just this just furthers that idea. So you can't talk about Israel. If you talk about Israel, you're insulting Jews. Do you believe Rosenberg that it is the plan to not only associate all Jews with Israel, but also to keep Jew Jewish people themselves in a constant state of traumatized fear so that there's this constant, constant fear going on. So it's this vicious cycle, self-serving cycle. Yes. Yes. Believe that to be a real mission for some people. Oh, yeah. I mean, listen, I believe that to be why I think October 7th was allowed to happen. I think the idea was, hey, yeah, we're going to lose. We're going to lose all these innocent people. But those are peace loving lefties mostly anyway. Right. So we're going to lose them, but it will further this narrative that like we can we can now make sure everyone must protect Israel. Now, again, that's not taking away just for anyone were to try to hear this and change my word. That's not taking anything away from the evil of Hamas. It's only pointing to the evil at the top of Israel that was willing to potentially take a loss to keep the narrative and plan going. Well, because yes, they do want us scared. They want us to think we need Israel all the time. Some people have pointed to the fact that there's evidence and video of Netanyahu talking about helping Hamas and funding Hamas for the sake of continuing to keep some sort of opposition going and also keeping Gaza separate from the West Bank. Like that's all been on the chessboard, if you will, for for for decades. Oh, yeah. Well, well, originally, I think as it goes. Bebe Netanyahu wanted to support Hamas because he didn't want to strengthen the Palestinian Authority because the Palestinian Authority was moderate and there could actually be peace with them and they could actually work out so he didn't want anything to do with the Palestinian Authority. So he beefed up Hamas to allow them to gain power. Can you like believe that's a real thing? Like when you find out how bad the people at the top of everything really are, it's it's it's mind-numbing. It's it makes you go like, well, it goes back to what you said earlier on the show. What do we even do? What do we even know? You know, it makes me appreciate Shani culture's view of the world more. It's all Babylon. I don't know what the hell you do, bro. I don't know what you like. And on a real level, that's why like you were talking the other day, Ibro, about how it's at least our obligation to think about these things and and, you know, sort of suffer at least with our thoughts and with our words to go through what people are going through. On the flip side of that coin, like I understand people who are like, I cannot do anything. I feel completely powerless. I need to take care of my family and just be OK day to day. I can't I can't knock you if that's what you're trying to do. Does it ever feel like you're a marketing professional, just speaking into the void? Turn around, I'm like, what are you crying about? She's like, what? I don't know what to do. I'm it's it's a blizzard outside. I'm thinking about people who are cold and like, oh, my God, to go right now. Yes, she was like, you know, I think about what, you know, mothers go through single mothers are going through right now. And then I start spiraling and thinking about mothers in Gaza having to like kids with amputees and these kids who got had no anesthesia, getting their body parts amputated, right? Like what the human experience is actually going through, right? She was just crying, just broke out crying. It happens. It happens to me, too. It's when you wait, you just can't help it. I think you cannot help it as a parent, like put yourself in all these different situations. And it's listen, let me tell you, I keep telling you that the movie that I saw, the voice of what is the name? I want to get it right. Ryn. Yes, I'll get it right now. Let me just Google it real quick because I want to make sure I get it right. But they just got nominated for a Henry job, Henry job. And your job. OK. I listen, you guys, it's still it's still with me. It broke me. And that's one the story of one person, one angel, one child. And then, you know, and listen, I follow doctors without borders. And when you read the testimonials and like listen to what they've gone through, like they wouldn't even let them come into Gaza with like that peanut butter that's that that's high in fat. And it's literally used to save starving children. And they're not allowed to bring it in. It's cruelty. And then on the and then I think about like, you know, Alex Pretty's parents got a phone call on Saturday afternoon that the whole thing that was happening was their kid. That's right. This kid who they raised to be a good boy. I know how hard you know how hard it is. Like, honestly, to all the parents out there raising good boys, man, part of me wants to have my next child be a boy and part of me doesn't. Just on account of like. We need more good boys in this world because men are so terrible. So often they raised a good boy who went out there and did good things. Good things. Yes. And good human. And he was executed by their country. Like the Lord of your point. It's just everywhere. And so I get how people get just completely overwhelmed. Allora, we need to get to we should we get into the rundown? I have your new full intro. OK, OK, let's do it. Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. New intro. The full intro. OK. That mean a beat drop after that's right. OK, let's go. Laura got the rundown turned that up dreams on glow when she pulled up. Headlines heavy, but we still caught up. Lights still flashing. We don't slow up. I'm stuck. I don't. Who decided on these graphics? Who decided on this? So like, where did you even come from? Who made the decision? I think Baskham did. I think he realized that with this new app we're trying, you have to have our names on the screen. You have to. He said he tried everything. But there was no like you guys. He went over this with you. No. Well, yes, he talked it over with me when I got on earlier today. But you like this font, which is a bro. I prefer it not be there, but he has no choice. No, I don't mind it. I'm asking you about the font itself. Oh, I don't know. I don't know if he has a. I don't know if he has a choice. We're losing our bed here. We're losing our story. It's almost out. All right. All right. All right. Well, I don't know if you guys saw, but the clips in Pharrell have been announced as performers for the 2026 Grammys, which is exciting. Grammys are going down Sunday, February 1st. Live from the crypto.com arena in Los Angeles. So remember that the clips are also nominated for five Grammys this year, which is exciting, man. I really hope they take something. They have to album of the year. Best Rap Performance for Chains and Whips. Best Rap Song. Birds Don't Sing. Love that song. Best Rap Album and Best Music Video. What do you think they perform? I think they perform. Birds Don't Sing. And John Legend comes out. Yes. There's literal birds flying. Make everyone cry because that's what that song makes. That song chokes me up. I think I think it's probably. Yeah, that's got to be that, right? Yes. You know, you don't think Stowe Godcooks comes out and you can fight. No, I don't think they do fight. Listen, I'd be here for it. I'm here for it. And, you know, Pharrell is also nominated for four Grammys this year. But with with everything is tied to the clips. Except I'm glad I put you on to that clip. I was oh, man, I never would have heard it without you. God. Thank you. Work on that album last year. You did. You did go hard for it. Not like you did Kendrick, but you went hard. Well, you think I went harder for G and X than I did? Well, I thought once you had G and X tattooed on your ass, I thought that. That was a sign that you went for. I showed you my ass. No, you mentioned it one day. You were like, you thought we were off there. You're like, yo, I can't believe I got G and X tattooed on my ass. And I was like, wow, wow. That's a statement. Well, it's a big statement. All right, well, speaking of Pharrell, man, I know you guys saw this and it's sad to see Chad Hugo is suing Pharrell. Oh, come on, man. Yeah, according to reports, this one's from Complex, man. They're saying that Chad is accusing Pharrell of specifically unpaid royalties and failing to properly account for the company's funds. He filed it in California. He's seeking at least three hundred and seventy five thousand and potentially over a million over. No one ever really dies. I've got news for you. That number. So first of all, this is getting a lot of headlines. Mhmm. Accounting issues, withholdings, unpayment is I don't know, Rose, where you can speak to this, you're closer to the publishing world than I am, but I hear it's pretty common. Not saying Pharrell is not liable here and not saying there isn't an issue here that needs to be pointed out. But let me tell you how much money those two have made together way more than $375,000 and way more than a million. Yeah, I thought that number was pretty low too. Because for the nerd album, which probably he's suing Pharrell, which I'm listen, I have to imagine with the stuff I've heard Pharrell. I know we hear there at odds, but I've also heard behind the scenes that that's overstated. And the odds are really with people that are close to Chad, not with Pharrell. And I'm guaranteeing Pharrell make sure this gets paid right and gets done right. Well, Chad is also he says he claims he also owes them royalty money for most of the Neptune's and nerd catalog sales along with Turing revenue and merchandise partnership. So this is this is a lot more. Yeah, no, it sounds like look, there's stuff that needs to be worked out. But unfortunately, I guess it's very common in this business, not making it right. But there's definitely people who want to go back in with forensic accountants and and Nicola and Diamond make sure they get everything they're owed. And Chad's definitely should be doing that. Make sure he's getting his money. Because guess who's got money? Them and Pharrell and everybody involved. Yeah, everybody near it. I mean, bro, the amount of publishing they've gotten over the years is it's crazy. I know, I know. Listen, this next story, I think can go into low down. So give it to me, Rosenberg. Let's do this. Oh, all right. Well, I'm sure you guys saw this, but Nikki Minaj has confirmed that she will attend the Trump account summit. She'll be there. It's going to be all live streaming January. And she says she actually replied to a post from them saying that look, this is the true meaning of paying it forward. You know, these Trump accounts, it's a very interesting situation because it's like, it's supposed to be for American children born between January 1st, 2025 to December 31st, 2028. And they're eligible to receive a $1,000 like deposit. Okay. I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Nikki's going to hang out with Trump at some event. Yes. Yes. Yeah. I said it up. Yes. I think the reason I can't hear what you're saying and I definitely don't want to hear from Satan because I don't give a damn. Girl, go do it. Nikki, go do what you're going to do. There she is. I'll start. Listen, I'm going to tell you what else is going to happen. That's tight. He's had enough. I'm not enough. What else is going to happen? She's going to put out an album at some point next year and we're all going to listen to it. Not me. Easy squeeze. I haven't listened to it. It's the pink print. I'll be good. I bet you go through it. I bet you go through it to see what's in it. Did something happen to me? If I bump my head with something off about me, take me to the doctor. I hope Natalie takes me to the doctor. If that happens, she's like, Peter's going to the Nicki Minaj album. Someone call someone get a check. And those saying that I listen, you're going to be inundated with clips from it. All that is going to happen. Yes. You're wrong. I think you might be wrong. I think this moment's going to have a bad effect. I actually don't think he is. Because people are going to hate listening. People are going to share. Yeah. It's going to be controversial. And the barbs are very much like, we don't care what she does. We're going to stick stick beside her. A lot of them are like that. A lot will Laura, the loudest ones who were paid the most money to be these bots will do it. But a lot of the people who just enjoyed Nicki and they didn't pay attention to her shenanigans, they just like the music. They have heard about this a lot of them and they're out. This is going to have a bad effect. I feel very strongly about this. It's going to be quiet. I hope you're right. I hope you're right because this type of behavior deserves it in my opinion. Now she deserves a big old flopper. You know what I'm saying? But I don't think it's true. And it's unfortunate because I think she's talented. I think she already was operating in a world where like the biggest records, like the single on the last one. What was that? What was that record? The last big single she had where she sampled the other. You heard on it. Yes. Yeah. Like that one made it to everyone. Like it just became a, you know, it was super hit. Yeah, super hit. You bickered this kind of song, right? But like the other stuff, you bro, culturally, I don't think it makes it to everybody. You're kind of oddly biased as the tad in that you're so in music. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Like you're in it. I'm telling you, I kind of operate when it comes to popular music now in a very like, does it hit me space? That one was the only one that hit me. Like I'm glad you brought that up. I think that's a great transition. If you don't mind lower styles, go ahead and low down to, to, to, well, I mean, it could be the lowdown to the Jim Jones, Kid Cuddy conversation. I got thoughts. We don't do even have the Jim Jones or Kid Cuddy clips today. Did anybody take it upon themselves to set those aside as a hot topic? I doubt it, but it's very easily explained in 12 seconds now. Because Jones was on a podcast. That's right. He's done this before. He's done this before. He basically said, you know, without me, there's no Kid Cuddy day and night and he didn't get it. He got his deal because of me. Kid Cuddy responded and was like, yo, shut the F up. That ain't true. Uh, we'll go to now Rosenberg for your take. Thank you. Thank you very much. Uh, we were all there, so I'm sure we can all have the same take. Yeah. Um, Jim Jones version of day and night. Definitely took day and night on the radio at hot 97 to another level. Yeah. Definitely took it to all the DJs started playing it. Mix show. It was, it definitely took it to the next level in a hip hop New York sort of way. Day and night was already. Yes. Thing. Yes. Yes. And it came and I believe broken LA, right? I don't, I don't know. On radio, I mean, I believe. Is that true? I don't remember, but I just know it was a thing already. I remember the hearing that, but okay, but it was already big period on the internet. Cutty was all, yeah, it was big on all the blogs. Cutty was already big downtown. There was the Crookers remix of day and night. Okay. Yeah. Remember the up tempo club version? That's right. Like it was already all a big, big thing. So they're, you know what? They're both right and they're both wrong. Well, no, but that's why I brought it up now because you started talking about reaching to all of the places. Yeah. Right. And it's a perfect example of there being different ecosystems, right? Because some people believe, Oh, I have a hit because I was big on streaming. Some people believe, Oh, I have a hit because I was big on radio, but it wasn't big on streaming. I've always believed you got to have it all to really have a hit. Yeah. And you're correct, sir. And, and, and to your point, those different things make it reach everywhere. So I think Cutty, if Jim didn't frame it the way he did, Cutty would gladly admit that that had a huge impact and it was super helpful. I think so. Something in my brain says that they've had this discussion before. They have, bro. They have. They have. Can I tell you what? I want to see you cut his art in person because it looks fire. Have you seen Cutty's paintings? I did. I saw some of them. I think I think I turn into a nice. He's out to him. See if you'll come on the program. I thought, you know what? I thought about that yesterday when we were talking about our plans. I thought about it because I talked to him a few weeks ago. I'm gonna see if he wants to come by and just talk art program. Oh, because now real quick, we're a little behind here and we have to do the original gurus. We can talk more about this tomorrow, but I do have to mention everyone. If you're not yet a patron, okay? Yes. Yes. The patron of Patreon. A patron of Patreon. Last week, things went a little haywire and it was awesome on Patreon. We already have the new Patreon in the can. We do. Okay. It drops Wednesday. And the patrons are going to get the first look at the plans. I'm not going to say anything. Don't worry. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. The plans. Okay. So if you're not on Patreon, head over to ELR show on Patreon. There's already one up. We're dropping another on Wednesday. That's going to give our patrons the first look at the plans, not to mention that. Great conversation. I mean, if you'd like the inside nitty gritty ish talk, you're going to enjoy it. So I just want to shout out to you. This one's a doozy. Well, and I don't even like it. Why not? Cause I can't believe we're still talking about this. Well, it wasn't just that. It was a lot of stuff. No, I know, but it's just like, come on. Listen, it's life, bro. We're working through it. You got big changes, bro. Life has, you know, it's hard to work through the big changes. You got you to just take too long to work through things. Or I would argue, or sometimes you don't work through things at all. You just power forward and bury it deep down. No, no, no, I don't. I don't bury it. I just, I just don't want to. I don't. I kind of want to prolong it. It's like a prolonged thing. You know what I mean? I said what I needed to say now, what I needed to do. All right. For the let me tell you, I just got a paycheck, man. Go look for us because it's a good one. It's a good one. And to you, the people who already signed up, man, thank you. We're super like we're super filled with gratitude for the amount of people that are signed up already. It's very cool. And for the people that signed up already, I already think Rosenberg and Laura Stiles are disrespecting you. So complain. No, we are not. You know what? Complaints, you know what, Laura? Thank you. The original gurus at gmail.com. The original gurus at gmail.com. What is happening? We're trying something new today. We're going to see if we like the video from Riverside. No, you bro. Calm it. Calm it. I knew that was coming next. The original gurus at gmail.com. Where you write to us? And we take care of you. Rosenberg, who's out there? Who needs us? Ah, so many reach out to the gurus. Zen. Zen. Oh, God. Zen. Zen. The original gurus. I've been a fan of the show. Send your email, by the way, the original gurus at gmail.com. I've been a huge fan of the show for years. Was genuinely sad to hear that you all stepped away. I followed your work for a long time and have always respected how openly you stand up for social issues and inequality. That's actually why I wanted to reach out. OK, I found it a bit strange that there hasn't been any mention of the protests in Iran or the people there living without power, especially given how vocal you've been about other causes. I still support and respect you all. It just stood out to me. I ask this honestly because I've run into this issue myself in the past. I've supported certain causes while staying silent on others that are just as serious and it's made me feel hypocritical at times. My genuine question is, how do you support the causes you care about without feeling guilty for not speaking on every issue, especially when some tragedies get far less attention simply because they aren't as trendy, much love regardless. And thank you for everything you've put out over the years. Thank you. You know, I haven't talked about it around that much. And we've definitely talked about it on this show. You did last week on this version of the show. Yeah. It's because I don't know what the F is going on. I know I was going to say I'm not that educated on it. I know that the government there is an oppressive government. We know that. I know that the government there that's currently in power is only in power because the United States of America destabilized and manipulated the voting population there during Nixon. I know that. I know that the Shah that was there in power before this current administration that's there as an oppressive, conservative, orthodox Muslim regime, whatever the hell it is. OK, was also corrupt. And that's why people wanted the shotgun and ran him out of there before this thing. All right, the Ebro, the question wasn't Ebro, will you tell me everything you know about Iran? It was what do we do? Talk about it because I don't really know. And like, I don't know what's real. What's fake. I don't know. Yeah, I'm with you and you, Laura. My understanding of it isn't great. That is in no way to diminish what is happening to the people in Iran. And of course, it's insane that our country is saying, we're going to attack Iran. At least they were saying it went away, but we're going to attack Iran if they keep harming protesters. It's like they're stealing our gimmick. That's what we do. We harm and kill protesters. Well, that's another layer. Where do we even got room to talk? Yeah, I just I just think we don't want to mess up. It's there is not some agenda to not talk about it at all. Well, and you know what else? And this is and this applies to Cuba, Iran, and a lot of places around the world. When you listen to people in the United States America about the countries they fled from to come to the U.S. That obviously shapes how you feel about it. But when you do the history on it, oftentimes the people who left those places to come to America and were allowed into the United States was because the United States had an interest in whatever country that was in making that country destabilized. So the people who came here, right, have a view that's based on the U.S. filter, right? And I can't trust that either. It makes it very complicated, even with the Venezuelan stuff. It all Cuba, as you said, it makes it all. It always makes it complicated because you're like, oh, wait, so you're against Cuba on the side of the U.S. But the U.S. is the reason that Cuba suffer. Yeah, it's OK to answer the person's question, though. I don't think anyone has to feel guilt about speaking out on some issues and not others. I think it would behoove all of us to do the work and pay attention and try to be able to speak out on all issues. But I think you also don't want to speak out on stuff when you don't know what you're talking about. I agree. I agree. And I think as our show evolves, we'll be bringing in some guests that are way more educated in a lot of these subjects to break things down and make it easier for y'all. And it should be noted, even before this iteration of the Ibro-Laura-Rosenberg experience, we had talked about Iran with regard to the oppressive regime and even them abusing women for how they dressed in the streets and and and arresting people and the youth movements there. We've talked about all of that before. But once again, we have limited information. Right. So. So. Don't feel bad. I mean, and certainly don't take any judgment. Please don't judge us for it. We we we're doing the best we can to stay up on the stuff that we know. Or judge us or judges will try to work harder on it. You know, just email us and we'll respond. That's right. All right. I hope that helps. So say the gurus. How many emails do we actually have in the gurus these days? Are coming. Let's see. They have they have been coming. Let me look. Original gurus at gmail.com. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. I still have to know. I still have nine emails I haven't gotten to in the original gurus inbox at gmail.com. That's right. Now, guys, tomorrow after the program tomorrow, I'm off to Saudi Arabia. I'm going to let you know that trip goes and I'm going to try to get on with us at the end of the week. OK.
