Summary

O'Connor & Company hosts discuss Patrice's attendance at a wedding in Chicago and pivot to analyzing President Trump's lengthy True Social post attacking conservative influencers Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones for their criticism of his Iran policy and their podcast platforms. The hosts debate whether these figures represent a genuine divide in the MAGA movement or are simply using clickbait tactics to build their own platforms.

Insights
  • Trump's direct attack on influencers signals a shift from ignoring criticism to publicly confronting prominent voices who challenge his policies, particularly on foreign affairs and Iran.
  • Conservative media figures with large podcast audiences may be conflating platform size with actual political influence—polling shows 92-100% MAGA voter support for Trump's Iran actions despite vocal opposition from these personalities.
  • The hosts distinguish between legitimate policy criticism and attention-seeking behavior, noting that these influencers primarily drive engagement through controversy rather than substantive policy debate.
  • Internal conservative movement conflicts are being amplified by mainstream media as evidence of MAGA division, when data suggests the base remains unified around Trump and his policies.
  • The professionalization of political commentary has shifted from traditional media gatekeeping to independent podcast platforms, creating new dynamics around credibility, accountability, and audience manipulation.
Trends
Decentralization of conservative media authority from cable news to independent podcast platforms creating fragmentation and competing narratives within the movementRise of anti-Israel rhetoric among some conservative influencers as a proxy for broader foreign policy disagreements with Trump administrationIncreased direct engagement by political leaders with media critics via social platforms, bypassing traditional press intermediariesClickbait and sensationalism becoming primary business model for independent podcast influencers dependent on audience growth rather than subscriber loyaltyHorseshoe effect in real-time: far-right and far-left rhetoric converging on anti-Israel positions among some conservative personalitiesErosion of unified conservative messaging as podcast economics incentivize contrarian takes over movement solidarityPolitical leaders using character attacks and IQ-based dismissals rather than policy rebuttals when responding to media criticism

horizon right light at the end of the total all that jazz coming up at 705 in prior American first legal senior advisor they have now that you know when AFL comes and knocks on your door in your school system you start to get nervous Patrice they've had a lot of successes with Fairfax and Loudoun County and guess whose door they're knocking on today Montgomery County mayor oh boy here in prior will lay it all out there because Montgomery County continues to move forward with their radical gender transition agenda for children and they're keeping it secret from parents in prior to the rescue 735 commander Kirk Leopold now he was the commanding officer of the USS Cole he knows a thing or two about operating for a Navy in the Persian Gulf we'll talk to him about the latest in Iran and the straight-up moves which Patrice appears to be here's to be flowing today appears to be tankers during the ceasefire it's better than a couple of few days ago things that does the ceasefire seems to be continuing so let's let's see how that works take it it'll find 805 our friend from the National Park Service Mike literate because we're winding down the Cherry Blossom Festival and also we've got bigger news on the Lincoln Memorial and at 835 I'm the jiratelly I just love saying that reporters name Washington examiner she's got a brand new book out remember we had her on she talked about her heroin experience in DC getting attacked by a homeless person and the criminal justice system and lack there of here in this town and how young professional women have to deal with it it's a great story yeah listen to her joining us at 835 all right whoo good morning Patrice happy go ahead take it landed for us let's go good morning happy Friday oh no Patrice what's wrong you first we're used to you sounding like a chipmunk at 508 in the morning are you I I'm gonna I promise I'll get my energy up but I was dancing into the night at my friend's wedding last night so you know there she is look at oh look at it there goes your head bob you jump right into it mm-hmm so it was an actual wedding wedding or was it a bachelorette party before the wedding no no it was an actual wedding I survived it did not get I did not see crime thank God I did not see you didn't go to Jesse Smollett subway in the middle of the night there that's probably best I didn't see Maga supporters in the careful in Maga country in Chicago no I kind of kept it pretty much in and out of town but I was able to do the cha-cha a few times now my back is hurting your back is hurting and you don't have energy this way so I mean forgive me for saying so I'm just a casual observer it's not like I you know have a vested interest in your Friday morning routine but it sounds like you made a conscious decision to expend your energy and your focus and your passion on a friend's wedding instead of O'Connor and company well you know people make choices Patrice Larry you guys had me what three times last week I dumped the bunny energy on you guys last week we don't worry by the end of the show by the 8 o'clock 8 a.m. I will have that Friday energy bag I probably just need some hot tea you have had a journey back that's when you started the week at the Easter egg roll you did a special appearance with us Monday morning from the south lawn of the White House so you have you have you have had quite a week you've been on quite a journey here through your Easter holiday and into the soul and well I'm glad that's exciting and I love I love people getting married I love weddings I you know there's an old joke about I always cry at weddings I literally do always cry at weddings oh I do you're softy at heart Larry oh I'm softy everywhere I I I used to cry at weddings because I used to look at the entire ceremony through the eyes of the groom and I was just so panicked for that poor man whose life was about to be changed and he had no idea absolutely no idea but then as I got older and became a father of two daughters I remember the palpable shift when suddenly my perspective during the wedding was no longer the groom but it was the father of the bride and that's where I really lose it I do I did well everyone in my family was shocked that I didn't cry at my own daughter's wedding I was on the brink of tears many all your eyes out no I got it all out beforehand I got it all up well yesterday's groom he's like I haven't cried since eight years old and then he just burst out during his his his vows he couldn't stop crying and laughing he every time he tries to say something he's crying and laughing hilariously so but friend for me I was watching for my friend and just thinking about over what 15 years of friendship and walking through life together and our small group of women we pray together every Monday morning and like this is this is a long time and coming but when you when you do life with people particularly women of faith for so long and then you just see the fulfillment of God's promise in their life like that that's really what had me tearing up so I what is you what is your opinion of men who cry at their own weddings I think is I have great admiration for them I think it's fantastic if you're gonna get emotional man that's the moment and let everyone see a woman you're a man now the groom got so much ribbing during the the one thing you don't do is cry I mean I know they were teasing him brother of mine if he's a bud of mine if I'm in his crew I am gonna destroy him afterwards because that's expected but but no I absolutely do I think it's I think it's fantastic there's there's two times when it's absolutely appropriate if not expected for a man to cry and that is at his own wedding and at the birth of his first child first child the other children you're you've already been or unfortunately if he loses someone close that I could understand to him yes yes so well that's are you sure he wasn't crying because he was stuck in Chicago because that can get well there's that to I mean their families from Chicago so they're used to dodging bullets but are you gonna visit the Obama presidential library while you're there yeah right why would I want to go see a trash can I mean like no way I will say the Michigan what is that a lake Michigan it was beautiful I didn't know how blue it looked like the Caribbean Ocean Michigan's gorgeous yeah really nice yeah if I had more time and the kids and my husband I would have loved to have explored so we'll probably have to come back to Chicago you know I grew up in Michigan so I'm used to the Great Lakes and but I moved to California when I was a teenager and I'll never forget the first time we went back to Lake Michigan for a big family reunion and and my my stepmother who married my dad who really raised me it was her first time in Michigan and we were all at Lake Michigan because we were in Western Michigan for a big family reunion and we're going into the lake and like you know it's massive right and and my stepmother's only you know point of reference is the Pacific Ocean because she's California and so we're in the Lake Michigan and she goes this is amazing it's great can I ask you how did you all get the salt out of this water and she was serious she was legit because it was like she'd never been in such a massive body of water that didn't have salt in it it's like well it's a freshwater lake Jan it's it's beautiful flying over it was just stunning and then driving along the the the waterfront it's beautiful and it was a nice day in Chicago yesterday it was in the 70s are they gonna rename Lake Michigan Lake National Champions and NCAA basketball I can't even remember Lake Michigan how are you gonna you know change the name to something even longer just because Michigan happens to be the national champion I don't know if you caught that this week that happened earlier this week too but I know I miss it I'm sorry all right I just want to remind everybody I haven't mentioned it enough all right Patrice well we're gonna juice you up we're gonna get you some coffee we're gonna get you flying and we need it just give us one now now that I've got you you know give me a good fry just give me give me one real fast come on good morning everybody happy frying all right Patrice is back we're good all right coming up in a moment an amazing post from Donald Trump last night on true social if you missed it we're gonna if you're wondering where he stands on the whole Tucker Carlson Megan Kelly Candaceau and stuff well there's no doubt now we'll tell you what the president had to say about it last night in just a moment first though it's 515 this is in your average podcast this pot is about to be crazy I don't even know what's gonna happen this is full send it's just like a boy scrap join the party we threw like a spontaneous party out of nowhere is crazy and we pulled off a crazy prank pranks parties and viral culture at its wildest seeing like the guys that you brought in and like seeing their different personalities and stuff it's been entertaining dude this could be the greatest content bill of all time bro the full send podcast let's get ready to rumble follow and listen on your favorite platform let's do it all right so you know pictures we don't spend a whole lot of time on this show talking about other radio hosts or podcast hosts that's just that's editorial choice that we have always made for a couple of reasons I always follow Rush Limbaugh's lead which is like you go with the news and where the stories are and if you're in the business of delivering news and you don't talk about other people who are in that business yeah right oh did you hear what Sean Hannity said well why am I telling people about another person's show and another baby's like and by the way them somewhere else right whatever Sean Hannity had to say if I'm good at my job I should be able to say something better and more impactful without somewhere else there's that also I feel like whenever media talks about media especially within the own our own sort of side as it were it just feels like naval gazing you know and I don't think it has an impact on most of our listeners and finally frankly my opinion has always been this I know that they're listening trust me I know better than anyone else that there are feuds within our industry and there are egos and one host attacks another host and then they respond and it becomes a big thing and I just feel like our listeners for the most part they hate that they want us all to be friends they want us all to be on the same side so even if I have disagreements with colleagues that have nothing to do with politics but even if it is about politics or whatever it is I you don't want to hear that you know I like to keep that private and deal with it privately if possible anyway that's how I've always done this okay sounds like a professional to me that said it's been hard to ignore the story that is Tucker Carlson's journey shall we call it politically and his perspective that seems to have really shift shifted over the years on some key critical issues and of course lately he has been incredibly outspoken opposing the president and opposing his operation in Iran that's not it's not all about Iran there's a whole lot of foreign policy issues for the most part the Tucker Carlson has been incredibly outspoken and critical of the president about it goes beyond that though he's been saying things about economic policy too it almost sounds like lately he's been embracing almost a a Marxist idea in terms of it's been really it's been really fascinating to watch Megyn Kelly has also joined in that show his not Candace Owens as a whole other story and we've been talking a little bit about Candace I mentioned Candace a few times and there's been this whole narrative in the mainstream media of course they love this they fan the flames of it they're like oh mag is divided mag is divided except patrice poll after poll after poll after poll shows that maga in terms of voters conservative Trump supporting voters from a tune of 92 in one case literally a hundred percent support the president's actions in Iran and and supports the president's actions as president so is it really a divide in maga or is it these very loud and prominent popular voices like Tucker and Megan and Candace who have just decided to sort of use their platform to offer an alternative perspective let's say but that doesn't really represent a divide in maga that's that's sort of been the discussion right well absolutely fair assessment I mean these folks they don't the only platform they have is the one they create and they have to draw attention to them it's not like us on radio where you know our listeners are avid fans and you turn on the radio and you listen to our show and Chris plant and and and and all the other great hosts every day or you go on television and see pundits and analysts and hosts talk about these issues they've got to get all those folks to them and so that's why they do these clickbait headlines they do these you know salacious stories they they go above and beyond to try to get as much attention as possible because they need to build their own platform hey more power to you but don't be disingenuous and pretend like you're speaking for an entire movement that that is built on really around one person in their policies not and that that person is not Megan Kelly or Tucker Carlson or Candace Owens and so you know yeah they don't speak for the president and that's becoming very obvious well definitely they don't speak for president or anybody in the administration and I think in my opinion and again I haven't talked about this much for all the reasons I've already laid out but I feel like in some cases they sort of lost the plot that our job is not to tell our listeners or our audience what they should think yeah and how they should vote yes at times we're not Democrats in that way right we know exactly or the left in that way and and then suddenly get frustrated when they don't agree with you and they don't but this is what happened to people like Bill Kristol who you know used his platform to tell people that Trump is awful and they shouldn't vote for him and then lo and behold conservatives voted for him and liked him and Bill Kristol lost it and went nuts and and and you see that sort of happening here too all right all of that said people have wondered what does the president think about this how the president weigh in well last night he didn't leave any doubts at all you say the kids would say he ate it up he put out a very lengthy very detailed very focused and very targeted post and it begins like this I know why Tucker Carlson Megyn Kelly Candace Owens and Alex Jones have all been fighting me for years especially by the fact that they think it's a wonderful for Iran that the number one state sponsor terror to have a nuclear weapon because they have one thing in common low IQs their stupid people they know it their families know it and everyone else knows it too that's how it starts and can I just say that's the nicest part to the whole thing so we'll give you the rest of it coming up in just a moment and then sort of unpack what this means what the response might be and what this really means honestly for the American people for the supporters of the president for the listeners of this radio station what to make of all of it well we'll give you our opinion but as always we trust you to reach your conclusions because you're pretty smart it's 523 now on 105.9 FM and streaming worldwide on the WMA L app O'Connor and company it is 537 this Friday morning in your nation's capital the 10th day of April and we got you covered here on O'Connor and company all morning long coming up 705 Ian Pryor American First Legal look out Montgomery County he's got a lawsuit for you stop keeping gender transition secrets from parents is is that hard apparently it is from Montgomery County 735 commander Kirk Leopold great American he was the commander of the USS Cole suffered a terrorist attack in October of 2000 we'll get his perspective on the situation in Iran 805 Mike literate to National Park Service and a 35 Anna Jerry telly Washington examiner on her brand new book it's Larry O'Connor alongside Patrice on WUCA good morning Patrice good morning Larry I'm still dancing to the music as well you should Donald Trump chimed in finally on the these have been called the the the podcast to Stan Wars or something I mean there's been a lot of discussion here about media figures who once had cable news contracts that doesn't include Candace Owens of course but Tucker and Megan and now live in the podcast world and they have been highly critical of the president and Israel and by the way when people say oh we love the president but he was duped by Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel it's like what are you really saying there you're saying that Donald Trump smart enough to make decisions for himself that he would take our country into war because he's stupid and gullible and easily manipulated and I mean oh but we love Trump like really what they're saying that is exactly what they're saying and I guess finally it had rubbed President Trump he'd ignored it a lot he had done some passing comments now and again when asked about it but last night he took the true social and I'll read the whole thing now here we go I knew why Tucker Carlson, Megan Kelly, Candace Owens and Alex Jones have all been fighting me for years especially by the fact that they think it's wonderful for around the number one state sponsor of terror to have a nuclear weapon because they have the one thing in common low IQs they're stupid people they know it their families know it everyone knows it too look at their past look at their record they don't have what it takes and they never did they've all been thrown off television lost their shows and aren't even invited on TV because nobody cares about them their nutjobs troublemakers and will say anything for some free and cheap publicity now they think they've got some clicks because they've they have third rate podcasts but nobody's talking about them and their views are the opposite of MAGA all right you may rate their podcast's third rate with regard to content or the or what have you but I can tell you their top rated podcasts they really are I mean Megan and Tucker and sadly Candace are all in the top 10 of downloads on a regular basis I just you know I by many definitions these are not third rate podcasts I'm just no and you know I mean listen he's saying third rate probably from a content standpoint rather than a ranking I think that he's he's not wrong to call them out on what they're absolute their their motivation here which is purely just clickbait it's about getting as many eyes and people to over to their podcast as possible so you see somebody say oh did you see what Candace said today and you're like well what did Candace say and then you go over and you you get drawn into that listen I I I peeped her game for a very long time and I'm glad people are waking up to it but there's still people who are hooked on her and and and and Tucker Carlson and others they just have to be careful that they you know that they what they think they've built this empire will not come crashing down on them eventually what's interesting to me is that they spent a lot of their time talking to each other it's like you know tonight is very special guest Megan Kelly tonight on the Megan Kelly show very special guest Tucker Carlson tonight on the Pears Morgan show there well yeah and and by the way they and by the way they all sort of work for the same network to podcast network of the organization that sells ads so I think there's something there anyway all right back I'm only a third of the way through this post I've got more to go their views are the opposite of MAGA or I wouldn't have won the presidential election in a landslide MAGA agrees with me and just gave CNN a 100% approval rating for Trump not hand flailing fools like Tucker Carlson who couldn't even finish college he was a broken man when he got fired from Fox and he's never been the same perhaps he should see a good psychiatrist or Megan Kelly who nastily asked me the now famous only Rosie O'Donnell question or crazy Candace Owens who accuses the highly respected first lady of France of being a man when she is not and will hopefully win lots of money in the ongoing lawsuit actually to me the first lady of France is a far more beautiful woman than Candace in fact it's not even close all right let me pause there this is I'm now just a little halfway through this post from Donald Trump the for those of you who don't know Candace Owens made multiple episodes with the allegations and the charts that'll Brigitte Macron is actually a man and is transgender there's now a lawsuit from the Macron's and I guess the president has taken sides he absolutely has and when you look at how he attacks each of them or he eviscerates each of them from a different standpoint he talks about Megan Kelly from her content standpoint he talks about Candace from the same thing but really going after Macron and calling her a liar and then he talks about Tucker I mean I think that the way he talked about Tucker is at least redeemable he said he was just a broken man who didn't finish college and then got fired and he's never been the same yeah I mean that one I could understand the others are probably irredeemable relationship there here's one fact here's one more now on bankrupt Alex Jones who says some of the dumbest things and lost his entire fortune as he should have for his horrendous attack on the families of the Sandy Hook shooting victims ridiculously claiming it was a hoax these so-called pundits are losers and they always will be fake news CNN the failing New York Times and all the other radical left news organizations are hailing them and giving them positive press for the first time in their lives they're not MAGA their losers just trying to latch on to MAGA as president I could get them on my side anytime I want to but when they call I don't return their calls because I'm too busy on world and country affairs and after a few times they go nasty just like Marjorie Trader Brown but I no longer care about that stuff I only care about doing right for our country MAGA is about winning and strength and not allowing Iran to have nuclear weapons MAGA is about making America great again and these people have no idea how I do that how to do that but I do because the United States is now the hottest country anywhere in the world president Donald J. Trump take a breath Larry that was a lot he covered a ton of ground there was a lot there was a lot going on there yeah he really did but he again he called him out for latching on to a movement not for creating the movement the movement has been centered around him and his policies and that hasn't changed which is why as you mentioned before his approval ratings with Republican MAGA base is it's at a hundred percent and so yeah these guys they they're writing the coattails and eventually it's gonna they're gonna fall off did you notice though he said Marjorie Trader Brown was that brown as like intentional because you know her last name is green but she's saying that she's not just green anymore she's brown yeah I'm not I'm not sure what the yeah I was just a way to insult I suppose but okay yes podcast to stand is what it's called the sort of area that had been conservative and now they're saying things that I don't know hard to get my my brain around it they all do have one thing in common which is being incredibly critical of Israel yeah and as I said just just think about what they're saying for a moment you can't have great respect and adoration for president Trump and Marco Rubio and the team in the White House and at the same time think that they're so stupid and gullible or beholden to Benjamin and Yahoo that they would take our country into war because of the Jews it's just I doesn't you listen there's criticism to be made over the state of Israel I'm not you know I I'm loyal to one country the United States and by the way I criticize the United States if the if we deserve criticism but I don't it's it's hard to have it all ways and again we don't talk about this much but it's hard to ignore Donald Trump jumping into this and taking on the influencers and only one of them really responded yesterday Candace Owens and will well will tell you what Candace Owens said in response to the commander-in-chief the president of the United States you'll be shaking your head like I am when you hear this next is 545 hey there I'm Paula Pan I help people make the smartest money decisions possible do not ever worry about your salary you need enough to make sure that you aren't in a bad financial position once you have that your salary becomes moot what matters from that point forward upside gains any type of ownership stake or ownership potential that's the money remember you can afford anything just not everything afford anything follow and listen on your favorite platform highlighting a rift in the right wing political spectrum see the left loves this is the reason why I don't like talking about this stuff and paying attention because it really does feed the left and their few yeah they only love this they eat it up the variety wrote it up this way highlighting a rift in the right wing political spectrum there isn't a rift in the right wing political spectrum president Donald Trump lashed out against four widely followed conservative influencers said if they're influencers then why haven't Trump's polls numbers moved in any way they were they exactly who were they influencing Tucker Carlson Megan Kelly Candace Owens and Alex Jones who has spoken out against the recent Trump led attack on Iran I mean Trump led attack on Iran okay variety in a 482 word post on his true social account Thursday 482 words Trump laid into the four personalities trashing them as having low IQs being nut jobs and troublemakers who have third rate podcasts of the third rate podcast is probably the deepest cut of all Candace Owens replied to this post and said to her followers on X it may be time to put grandpa up in a home. Oh really? Yeah. So you're gonna. Well I guess that's the best that she could come back with. Earlier this week she posted on her true so around excuse me on her ex account she said there will never be peace in the world while Israel exists. Now that is a threat. I mean I mean I can't I can't see that anything is as other than anti-Semitic. That's kind of Nazi talk if you want if you want to act. You know that's that's literally honestly the Iotola could have posted that last week. What's the difference between that and supporting the Interfata. I mean it's kind of along the same lines. It is. Well it's the horseshoe effect I guess in real time right before us. I guess the question and you know and the president has been at odds recently with Steve Bannon as you know well I shouldn't put it that way. Steve Bannon has been at odds with the president recently as well as you know some other loud voices but again I want to keep saying I don't know why they're called influencers because I don't know who they're influencing necessarily other than the opponents of the president and the media who as we said you know they love this because they hate the fact that anybody is successful outside of their gates. But in the long run I think that most people I included wish this would all be settled below the radar. You know I I'm not naive enough to think that people with high profiles big egos and are hugely successful have differences of opinion at times and they fight with each other. It's been this way ever since I was brought into this world and I was under Andrew Breitbart's fear. He had little feuds with people too. Very rarely public feuds. Very rarely was it made public. I don't think people like this. I don't think it's good for us in the long run and hopefully this ends it. I doubt it does but I think the president should be able to have the last word on this but people with microphones who drive content and attract audience. They can't help themselves. I'll just say Patrice the hardest thing for me to do in my career is when I was publicly attacked in a pretty vicious way by somebody with a big microphone. Yeah I kept myself from using this microphone to responding kind. It was not easy to do. It took discipline but I kept reminding myself that I don't think our listeners really cared. I don't think our listeners really wanted to hear it. And so when you put the listener first when you put the audience first I think you make difficult but wise decisions and hopefully Megan and Tucker will do the same today. I doubt it. I doubt it too. Well stay tuned. Hopefully we won't have to talk about it again. I think from our perspective. Let's just choose to ignore it Larry. From our perspective you've covered it. You know the president did his thing and it's epic and it was newsworthy and now we shall move on. It's five fifty three. Hey there I'm Paula Pan. I help people make the smartest money decisions possible. Do not ever worry about your salary. You need enough to make sure that you aren't in a bad financial position.
