Summary

Host Pete Mundo analyzes President Trump's State of the Union address, focusing on the immigration moment where Democrats refused to stand when asked if the government should protect American citizens over illegal aliens. The episode covers caller reactions, school walkouts in Olathe related to ICE protests, and Mayor Lucas's response to the speech.

Insights
  • The State of the Union's most effective political moment was a visual test of party values on immigration, creating campaign material for midterm elections regardless of speech quality
  • Democratic non-response to a basic patriotic statement on citizen protection signals vulnerability on immigration despite polling showing public agreement with Trump's position
  • School administrators are using legal liability concerns as cover for inaction on student walkouts, but legal experts confirm districts have enforcement tools available if they choose to use them
  • Sports moments like Team USA hockey can still unite Americans across political lines when kept apolitical, contrasting sharply with politicized responses to the same events
  • Crime statistics on undocumented immigrants show higher incarceration rates per capita than citizens, contradicting the 'absolute numbers' argument commonly used in immigration debates
Trends

What was not to like last night 604 on a Wednesday post State of the Union address Wednesday morning here on KCMO 95 7 FM. So the question with last night State of the Union speech from the president of the United States is a very simple one. What will he do with it? we can sit here for the next four hours and talk about man the speech the clips the pros the you know couple of cons that really make his political opponents look bad we can do that and we'll do plenty of that this morning but the question i've been sitting here asking myself since i went to sleep last night and then got up this morning is what is the president of the united states going to do with it because I've covered every single state of the union the president has given and he gets this bump every single time people come out of his speeches being like oh yeah his policies are pretty good oh yeah this guy's doing like a lot of things that I agree with there's a reason that he's been elected a couple of times and while he can't control the outside noise he can't control the people that cover him he can't control the media he can't control social media can we get everything aligned to the point where you actually come out of this thing and have serious momentum as you start thinking about the november midterms because that's what matters right now if you just want to feel good about last night because well you thought it was a great speech that's fantastic i did too i'll get to more of that coming up but But the biggest thing that everybody from the administration to voters of this president should be thinking about is how do you use this to forward the momentum and the mission in 2026? That's it. Nothing else matters. OK, because if you go out there in November and get your clocks cleaned. Well. What do you have then? Then last night is like winning a preseason football game. It doesn't matter. But there was so much from last night that the president should be proud of. There's so much that his cabinet should be proud of. And yes, you had the typical dog and pony show. There's no doubt about it. But I thought his most powerful content was tied to the issue of immigration. He starts off with the economy, which fine. I figured he was going to do that. I thought he was going to do that. I said last night that I thought the president should start off, and I said this on the show yesterday, that I thought the president should start off his State of the Union talking about the angel moms from a couple of days ago. The mothers who had lost their children at the hands of an illegal immigrant. That's where I would have started the entire State of the Union. because that's the issue that actually most Americans agree with him on, but also he's lost a lot of Americans on because of this whole ICE nonsense and these protests and these walkouts and everything else that have been taking place over the last several weeks. So it's the issue where he's lost the most ground, despite the fact that I believe, and the polling suggests, it's an issue that when he got to office, a lot of people agreed with him on. So that's the narrative that I thought he had to correct. And he did get there. He absolutely got there. And he got there in one of the most powerful ways he could have. He used the optics of the cameras to his advantage. That's what the president of the United States did last night in this moment. One of the great things about the state of the union is how it gives Americans the chance to see clearly what their representatives really believe. So tonight I'm inviting every legislature to join with my administration in reaffirming a fundamental principle. If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support. The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens. the first goal is to protect american citizens not illegal aliens and notice what he says there he says please stand as if to say if you agree with me on just this statement i'm i'm not asking you to agree with me on on my other 99 of my statements here tonight but he specifically said if you agree with me on this statement that we have a duty to protect american citizens first and foremost please stand it's the only time he asked the entire room to stand on that specific issue and guess what half the room did not stand talk about a bombshell i know you're not shocked i'm not either and that right there is a campaign pitch it's a commercial it's a visual that can be used for the next eight to nine months it's one thing to say you know i think ice is going too far okay there are some reasonable people that can come to that conclusion but when the president of the united states whether you voted for him or not says we are going to put our citizens first in this country and one of our two major political parties does not stand in that moment holy cow you've got them by the short hairs that's that's what you've got if you're the president of the United States it's unbelievable and think about that think about that moment and how that can be used going forward right this is the whole ice thing has been masked as this massively emotional issue at its very core how do you not come to the conclusion if you watch the speech last night that what this is really about is about putting illegal aliens ahead of American citizens at the very least ahead of people who want to come here the legal way at the very least they were left a long time ago but at the very least that's what's going on but to not have an entire nation's political body stand and clap in that moment is as telling as anything i've seen and as visually unappealing for one side of the political aisle as i have ever seen in a single State of the Union. And that moment from last night just cannot be forgotten and should never be forgotten. As people try to moderate their stances as we get closer to November, that moment right there is as telling as anything that I've seen in a State of the Union speech. And if I was President Trump, the only, you know, one of the couple mistakes, and it's not really a mistake i just would have reworked the speech i would have put that in the first two minutes of the speech last night i would have said you know my fellow americans and uh men and women of you know whatever congress were in here thanks for coming out tonight america's doing great we're trending in the right direction thank goodness i'm here hey by the way by the way before we go any further let me ask you this please stand if you think that we should put american citizens ahead of illegal aliens before we go you know you've been standing i don't want to have you get up and get down too much you tell me please get up and stand if you agree with this statement within two minutes i would have brought that up that's how powerful that was last night that's how good it was instead we got about 45 minutes into the speech which once again i understand i'm nitpicking but i'm also crediting the administration for how good that was and how powerful that was and you can't deny that when you look at some of the data that we got out of last night cnn was noting that the speech got a 65 approval which is more or less in line where the president has been during his state of the union speeches among speech watchers tonight 64 say his policies will move the u.s in the right direction and look at the growth president trump made over the speech so So pre-speech, it was 54% of speech watchers said his policies will move the U.S. in the right direction. After the speech, that number goes up 10 percentage points. So Donald Trump made some progress with people watching the speech from their pre-speech expectations to what they saw in the speech itself. And that 64% number, that's pretty much in range across all of his State of the Union addresses. That was CNN last night. And I could hear the producers crying in the background. couldn't you when you exceed expectations in this world at this time in american history you're doing something right use it run with it the question is how how do they use it to their advantage that's the question i'll ask roger marshall kansas u.s senator about that he will be here in 20 minutes on kcmo we'll get to your calls at 913-408-7957 your calls your text your reaction to that State of the Union speech last night. We aired it right here on KCMO Talk Radio 95.7 FM. And I put this up on my Facebook page last night. I said, give me a grade from A to F. And I'm sure many of you will be surprised by the reaction on the Facebook page. I'll share some of that with you and get to your calls right here on KCMO. 913-408-7957 That's the text line on the studio line After President Trump's State of the Union last night And to me the most powerful moment by far was this One of the great things about the State of the Union Is how it gives Americans the chance to see clearly What their representatives really believe So tonight I'm inviting every legislature To join with my administration and reaffirming a fundamental principle. If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support. The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens not illegal aliens This was a major gamble by Trump. If the Democrats had stood up, they would have one-upped him. And they would have looked reasonable on the world stage. He would have tried to make them look crazy and nuts, and it would have backfired on him. But the president of the United States gambled. He gambled that they just couldn't do it. And he was right. He was dead on. And you know what? There was nothing sadder, but also more beautiful. To highlight the differences right now between these two major political parties. And that right there was at the very top of the list. 913-408-7957. Let's start off with Steven. He is in Johnson County. Steven, good morning. All right, Dr. Mondo, how you feeling? You know how I'm feeling, baby. How you feeling? Man, listen, last night we had church last night. I just missed 8 o'clock with my office and watched the speech. And I'll tell you, I had to go outside. When I got outside the locker door, I had to go outside and do a dance to my car. I'll tell you, I was so happy. I could hardly tell you myself. That was a knockout The part I'm saying A plus What he did last night And what's really the biggest for me Is when he asked them to stand Asked them to stand If that's not saying to the urban core In particular They keep voting against their own interests That's not saying what they're really about I don't know what it is They're showing you on TV That they're not for you They're for illegal people Emmanuel Cleaver Eli Omar and all them clowns. You know, so, I mean, I couldn't, I was so happy last night with a smile on my face. And I can tell, I can tell that smile has not come off your face there, Steve. No, I woke up in the morning of Javier Busquets. Has anyone heard from Emmanuel Cleaver after that speech last night? Because he has not posted anything on social media since the speech wrapped up, but I did see that he was there. He was there at the State of the Union. I know about 70 Democrats decided to skip the State of the Union. Emmanuel Cleaver here in Kansas City was there, but he has not said anything since the speech last night that I've seen publicly. No, but last night I did send a copy of that little snippet of speech to his son. So I might not be his friend or what. Wait, you sent that clip to who? His sons? His son, the one that passes the church night. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. His third. Wow. I mean, you know, this is what we're about. You pay these people to represent you, and they're going to represent somebody that's against your country. Yeah. It's just America, Ali Akbar, whatever they be saying. You know, I mean, it's just ridiculous. I mean, if I was sir, Trump did an A-plus last night. All right, Stephen. Thank you, buddy. I appreciate the call. You know, my Facebook, I put it up before I went to bed. Just search Pete Mundo on KCMO Talk Radio. I said, give your A to F grade for the State of the Union. And I knew what was going to come out of it. We've got hundreds of comments on here, 324 comments as of right now. And there are half A pluses and half F minuses, which is exactly what I would have expected, right? Exactly what I would have expected. Because that's in large part who's going to be most engaged with last night's speech. the a-plus crowd and the f-minus crowd right the a-plus crowd the steven in kansas city the f-minus crowd you know putting on the uh dyeing the hair blue and waving the flag and just hate watching something to i don't know try to satisfy your soul i guess there are people sadly that try to do that but i knew what it was gonna be but it's not about frankly the a-plus crowd or the F-minus crowd. It's about the people who are somewhat in the middle who might tune in for the first 30, 40 minutes and say, oh yeah, there are things that don't get covered in the media. There are things that are not getting enough attention nationally that I actually like amidst all the chaos. And that's what the president of the United States and who the president of the United States has to appeal to in those moments. The base is always going to love you, right? They're always going to say A+. The haters are always going to hate you. You got to try to find the people that are somewhat persuadable here, and that's where they had an effective night there, John. Touche. And I might add, I like to tweak people who say, I could care less with, it's I couldn't care less. Is there really an F minus? There's just an F. I know. Someone on my Facebook gave it a G last night. Well, I like that creativity. At least they were creative. They could on down another step. Oh, man. 913-408-7957. Paul is in Kansas City. Good morning, Paul. Hey, good morning, Pete. Yeah, that speech wasn't for me and folks out here in southeastern Jackson County. That was for independents, and they wrote that for him to do it, and he did a great job. His most valuable player right now is that speech writer. I don't know who he or she is, but he needs to keep her close to the office. Don't let her go, or him, whoever it is. But when he timed that immigration statement, I just kept thinking, Joe Frazier, Ali, fight number one at the guard where that left hook comes out of nowhere, and they go, down goes Ali, down goes Ali. I'm thinking that's what he did. He threw a left. They never saw it coming, Pete. They never saw it coming. Well, you know what? Here's the thing, though. They should have. They should have. You knew that Trump was going to bring this issue up. Now, I'm not saying you knew he was going to ask you to stand for it, but you knew he was going to bring up the issue. And if you actually wanted to come off in a midterm year as middle of the road, which is what the Democratic Party is trying to do right now to win back the House and maybe the Senate, you would say, guys, if nothing else, let's just fake it. Let's just stand up and fake it. And they couldn't do it. No. And you can tell, Pete, they didn't have any kind of a pre-staff briefing. OK, one of the things we need to watch out for in this speech. Yeah, they never did that. They're so far left and so far out of touch with the American people on this issue, they couldn't help themselves. And now they're going to pay for it. It's going to be on every billboard and every independent district. There you go, Paul. Thank you, buddy. I appreciate it. Thanks so much. Let's go to Sean in Overland Park. What's up, Sean? Got a minute for you, my man. Hey, we got 70 of our Democratic leaders that don't show up for the State of the Union. Is that kind of like me not showing up for a safety meeting at work? Yeah. We pay these people. to do a job, and they just decide not to show up? Yep, yep. I mean, I don't understand it on top of the fact that they can't stand up for protecting Americans over. I'm just dumbfounded by the whole thing. It was definitely an A+. Yep, you're right about that. Dumbfounded is the right word. Chris in Kansas City, 30 seconds. It is all yours, Chris. i thought he brilliantly wove in all the people that he introduced throughout and it helped keep the show entertaining i'm 86 i've watched about 50 or 60 of these and this was the best of my memory all right just brilliantly done thanks for checking in chris i hope to see 50 of these things my man well done god bless you that's fantastic um i'm all in yesterday at this time And we had on the father of the young man who got beat up outside of Olathe Northwest for protesting the anti-ice walkout that took place last Friday to college and Lone Elm. So we now know, and this was an update yesterday from Olathe Police, that an 18-year-old female was also taken into custody yesterday following the investigation into the altercation. On Friday, you had a 17-year-old male who was arrested. Additionally, two males aged 15 and 17 were cited and released. Police saying yesterday in Olathe that they have contacted all the individuals involved in the physical disturbance. So despite all that, there is another walkout planned for today at Olathe Northwest. That is something that we learned yesterday from the father who is here in the studio. I have the email here sent from the principal, Principal Zuck Adelay to Northwest. And the email reads in part, finally, I want you to know that I have been made aware of a social media post indicating that there will be a student planned walkout on Wednesday, February 25th. concerning students' personal beliefs and unrelated to immigration and federal agencies. I'm telling you this now to ensure that you have adequate time to discuss this with your child. This demonstration, like previous ones, is entirely student-led and not organized or supported by me, our staff, our school, or our district. I want to reiterate that staff will monitor the situation solely to help ensure safety and there will likely be an increased safety presence due to Friday's incident. But you can't tell me that your staff is there to monitor the situation to help ensure safety when the staff was there last Friday and you could not ensure safety. And blaming it on the fact that, well, they went off school grounds, so we kind of just let kids get beat up because they went across the street. I mean, at some point, especially if you're someone who knowingly was there to monitor the situation, I'm not saying that you support it in fact I would prefer that you just have people who are largely apolitical and probably are tough guys like I had a sixth grade teacher this guy served in Desert Storm and you didn't mess with him all right and you know what there were a couple of times when he got in the face of the kids who needed it some of the tough kids the bullies and he just he gave it to them and that's what they needed okay that's what they needed now you know the problem today and I don't envy some of these teachers because the problem today is that they end up getting sued or the school gets sued because everyone looking to sue somebody for a nickel these days so that the hard part And I admit that I don envy the teachers in that situation But at the same time you watching your own students get beat up across the street And the legal side of this has, yes, created a mess for everybody. There's no doubt about it. Because the minute you got a teacher trying to break up a fight not on school grounds is the minute that, you know what? I get it. that teacher suddenly opens himself up to a potential lawsuit. That being said, I was talking to people on the legal side yesterday in Kansas, and I said, you know, you got these principals hiding behind the Supreme Court saying nothing we can do, the whole babe in the woods routine, right, that they got going on. Said, is there something that they can do? Is there anything that they could do if they really wanted to stop these walkouts from happening? Because right now they're basically saying there's nothing we can do. oh well and while the first amendment obviously protects the right to protest it doesn't create a right to leave school to protest could they punish these kids more for skipping class could they suspend kids who walk out of class saying we're done with protests yeah they could they could do that there are things that these schools and the leadership and the administration could do if they had the fortitude to do it they don't they're not interested in that right now and you know what they can sit there all day and say well you know we're not supporting this but you are supporting this right it's like being a parent you can sit there and say don't do that don't you don't you okay or what or what that's how kids think so young people think so we don't have this just happening today at alathe northwest there was also a planned protest at a middle school in alathe so uh and we got this intel from uh a source shall we say in the Olathe School District who sent us this email. Do we know which middle school this was by chance or no? Indian Trail Middle School. Okay. So this comes from Indian Trail Middle School. We were recently informed that a student organized walkout to the field is planned for tomorrow, meaning today, February 25th, regarding current events related to immigration and federal agencies. At a middle school. We wanted to take a quick moment to share information with you regarding how our district handles student walkouts and protests. In Olathe Public Schools, we value our students' perspectives. You know what? With all due respect, I'm not really interested in an 11-year-old's perspective, okay? I don't care. You're 11. Sit in the classroom, be quiet, and listen to your teacher and learn something. That's literally it. They're not adults. They're children. With all due respect, I don't respect an 11-year-old's opinion on anything, and neither should you. Where are the adults? the email goes on to say, to be clear, these activities are, and by the way, I don't care if they're like, it's not about the side. I don't care what your opinions are on politics at 11. I'm just not interested. Now, if you're my kid or you're a family member or a family friend, obviously, you know, we'll talk about it. But in this setting, in school, no, it's not like, well, the kid's got to have a voice. Hey, come on. I haven't even gone through puberty yet. What do you mean? Stop with that. All right. An email from the principal at this Alathe Middle School. Students have the constitutional right to participate in walkouts or other demonstrations to express their views on issues they care about. To be clear, these activities are always completely student-led and not sponsored or organized by the school, staff, or school district. Protests and walkouts on our campuses are monitored by staff solely to ensure safety. However, if a student chooses to leave school grounds, we're unable to guarantee supervision. Finally, we will follow our standard attendance protocols in the event of a walkout. So you'll get an absence if you leave. Great. Wow. What did you do? Our top priority is always the safety and education of our students. We encourage families to engage in conversations with their child about these types of activities and their level of participation. Open conversations at home help reinforce expectations around civic engagement learning and safety thank you for your continued partnership and please let me know if you have any questions i thought we were going to get a thank you for your attention to this matter from the principal there at the olathe middle school but that's not what we got this is this is this is embarrassing it's completely embarrassing My inside source at that school has told me that the teachers are hands off. They're not saying anything about this. They don't want to be involved in it. That's great. They're saying I think that the principal doesn't really want to. He has to send somebody out there to kind of view it, but I don't think he really wants to be involved. It sounds like he kind of copied and pasted that. They probably told them what to say in the email to send it out, but I don't know for sure. Oh, yeah. I'm sure some attorney got, you know, 400 bucks an hour for that email. You're right. I agree. and that's great to hear but if all you're going to do is be like yeah if you leave if you oh you're getting an absence you don't want to have oh great i get to skip algebra or the way things are trending they'll still do an addition in middle school these days well i mean at some point you've got to come together as a community as a district and say this is embarrassing this makes us look bad and oh by the way in alathe in particular you got a 400 million dollar bond issue on the ballot when all anybody's talking about in alathe is where the where the walkouts are today what do you guys need new buildings for no one's in them i mean all you're doing is leaving them we need new buildings to then do more walkouts and we got to leave these beautiful buildings during these we want nice buildings to to do walkouts from i i you they sound i mean this is terrible optics at the worst time for Olathe. It really is. 913-408-7957. Let's go to Debbie. You're on KCMO. Hi, Debbie. Hi. I'm just wondering, perhaps it varies by city, but I worked with somebody in St. Joe who was arrested because her daughter missed school. It was a truancy law, and it was probably much more excessive than what we're talking about here, but she literally got arrested because their kids are in school. Yeah, I mean, you know, that's something that's been brought up, Debbie. You're not wrong in terms of people bringing that up. Now, what do you do when a kid walks out for two periods or one period at a middle school on a Wednesday afternoon? I mean, does the truancy law come into the conversation here? Probably not. But to your point, there are things that can be done that for whatever reason the district is not willing to do. There were reports down in Oklahoma last week that they're finally suspending kids who are doing walkouts. and you know what that's at least a step in the right direction and if you're a parent and you're supporting it because what happened at Olathe Northwest last week is that some parents signed off on their kids leaving school early okay well to me you could still say well I'm sorry it's great that you wanted your kid to leave school early but you're going to do these protests on your own time like you protest your little heart out that bell rings that whatever it is 3 3 30 you protest your little heart out wherever you want you got a whole life to live when that final bell rings but we're going to have people in the classroom studying working and getting smarter because what message are you sending if you continue to let the inmates run the asylum and i will say this my inside source also let me know that this walkout at the middle school was supposed to happen last week on friday but it was too cold so they decided not to so i don't know how serious these kids are about this walkout they just want to get out for an hour well they're not serious because they're 11 years old that's how i know it's not serious we should do it like we do part-time pay right schools are in session for x amount of hours to call it a year right and that's why we have snow days and makeup days got to have x amount of hours we assume when we have class the children are there but not necessarily if they walk out so what if we just track the kids by hours and they have to have the same amount of hours as the school is open in order to complete the year that's you know what get it done john all right can you handle that for me after the show you got to that okay thanks i appreciate it because that makes too much sense as well yeah so tough we're going to do a walkout but you know we don't do walkouts when it's below 37 degrees all right we need at least 38 to feel good about the walkout it's it's a joke it is a joke and they're making a joke of the administrators and the entire school district is what they're doing. And the district is whistling right past the graveyard. I really wish we had more moments like last night. I really wish we had more moments like last night, like what we saw when Team USA walked into the State of the Union. USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! I mean, that was just, boy, the hair sticks up on the back of your neck when Team USA's men's ice hockey team, days after winning the gold medal, shows up at the State of the Union. And they were not politicized. They were in, they were out. It was handled perfectly. I saw some people speculating yesterday, like the Dan Levitard show. Dan Levitard, you may remember him from ESPN. He now does a sports talk show that gets very political. And, you know, they all just hate Trump and they get on their high horse and the whole deal, right? And they're like, oh, man, it's going to look bad. It's going to look when Trump's talking immigration and these guys are sitting there. You knew that wasn't going to happen. I listened to that clip yesterday from the Dan Levitard show, and I was like, guys, that's not how this is going to work. They came in. They flashed the gold medal. Trump introduced them, and they left, and they walked out. because yes that would have been awkward if they were sitting there for the entire speech and by the way let's be honest those guys don't want to be there for the entire speech okay i think they're still hung over from miami the night before and the night before that i mean these guys have been on a 48 hour bender okay they were there to just kind of wave the gold medal and then turn around and leave Although I did see that Trump hosted them at the Oval Office yesterday and he had double cheeseburgers from McDonald's for all of them. It was absolutely fantastic. We have pizzas, we have 300 hamburgers, many, many french fries. And the introduction was outstanding as well. And by the way, I said yesterday I thought it would be the only thing that Democrats would stand for. And it was the only thing that they universally stood for. And I'm glad that they did. I wish it wasn't the only thing. I think there was plenty that was bipartisan last night. But it was the one thing that they rightfully stood for. Even they couldn't justify sitting for this. Our country is winning again. And in fact, we're winning so much that we really don't know what to do about it. People are asking me, please, please, please, Mr. President, we're winning too much. We can't take it anymore. We're not used to winning in our country. Until you came along, we're just always losing. But now we're winning too much. And I say, no, no, no. You're going to win again. You're going to win big. You're going to win bigger than ever. And to prove that point, to prove that point, here with us tonight is a group of winners who just made the entire nation proud. The men's gold medal Olympic hockey team. Come on in. That is fantastic. Oh, we're just winning so much. No one's ever seen this kind of winning. Oh, and they're like, sir, stop the winning. Sir, quit it some more. Too much winning. I can't handle all the winnings, sir. enough sit off enough please oh my gosh that was so good that was so funny and it was a great lead in to these guys then they walk through the double doors and they've got their gold medals and rightfully so the entire place stands up and cheers it was a great moment you can tell though that microphone is not set up for people to raise their voices into right because it starts to get staticky and you know it's not sounding very good over drove it on gold yeah but that last night i mean that's that's what we need more of in this country sports can still be our great unifier it should be our great unifier and anybody trying to not make it our great unifier when all these guys have done since they won the gold on sunday morning is talk about how much they love america how proud they are to represent their country and how yes they'll accept an invite to the Oval Office to eat double cheeseburgers. There's nothing about that that you inherently think to yourself is super political. Same thing with the Chiefs. I mean, the Chiefs went to the White House when Biden was the president, as they should have, as any team should do when you're invited into a situation like that. If anyone wants to invite me to the White House, I don't care who's in office. I'm going. All right? I'm going. And that's all this was the last couple of days. And the people who have tried to make this political at all, they're the ones who are showing their rear ends. They're the ones who are looking at everything through a political lens, even when it's not there. Get over yourself. Get over your TDS. And for once, just appreciate the moment and celebrate America. because being proud to be an American is not about who's in the Oval Office. It's not about who's running Congress. It's about having like-minded values that I still think, by and large, we can all rally around. Although, sadly, that is being lost, it seems like, every single day. Oh, Quentin Lucas couldn't help himself. Oh, he couldn't help himself. He went to sleep last night and said, I think I'll sit this one out. But he woke up this morning and he said, not so fast, my friend. And he has jumped into the fray following the State of the Union last night. The mayor of Kansas City posting on Facebook six minutes ago the following post. You ready for this there, fellas? You ready for Mayor Q? You don't know how to answer that to you. Only because it's part of my job, otherwise. I don't care. All right. Mayor Lucas putting on Facebook. This did not go on X, only on Facebook. When the going gets tough, the imitation tough attack on a marginalized ethnic group with next to no ability to defend themselves. A reminder, almost all crime in America is committed by our fellow Americans, often by our neighbors and folks that we know. The mayor then says, God bless the Somali Americans and many other immigrant groups who love our country and help us better build communities and America each day. Okay. He just couldn't help himself, could he? He just couldn't help himself. I love the first comment he got was from a constituent in Kansas City. her name is fair and fair writes mayor lucas i sent you a concerning email about my neighborhood please read it it's basically like a nice way to say stay in your damn lane i'm sort of thinking you know it's like hey dude i got a problem here stay in your lane man so first off i just want to break that down what he's talking about last night is when ilhan omar and rashida talib start yelling at the president. And this is what it sounded like. You know, they're yelling at him when he brings up the, you know, alleged Somalian fraud up in Minneapolis. And he just talks over them. I mean, what else is he supposed to do in that moment? Let him just take over the State of the Union? Isn't that a shame? You should be ashamed of yourself not standing up. You should be ashamed of yourself. That is why I'm also asking you to end deadly sanctuary cities that protect the criminals and enact serious penalties for public officials who block the removal of criminal aliens. In many cases, drug lords, murderers all over our country. They're blocking the removal of these people out of our country. And you should be ashamed of yourself. I mean, you want to enter the fray, right? Here's the thing. You know full well that last night Trump has the bully pulpit, right? You don't have a microphone. He does. Mayor Lucas gives a state of the city. He gave one like two weeks ago. If he starts getting screamed at, well, what do you think he's going to do? Take it? Or you think he's going to, you know, talk over it and probably have that person removed if it's not, you know, a member of the city council. But if a member of the city council started yelling at Mayor Lucas in the middle of his state of the city, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't dig that either. Okay? I'm pretty sure he wouldn't dig it so let's just call it like it is at least and then when he goes on to a say here in this post yesterday or post six minutes ago excuse me about last night state of the union almost all crime in America is committed by our fellow Americans you know that's something that gets brought up a lot right well American citizens commit more crimes because there are obviously more American citizens than there are people who are not here legally is every person here illegally committing violent crimes no are the majority wanting to just live a better life in america yes but they've already broken the law by being here illegally they've cut the line from people who want to come here the right way it's not fair to them and the data is actually not always on mayor lucas's side believe it or not i know it's shocking talk about a bombshell i'm Rating this here from a study done by FAIR, Federation for American Immigration Reform. In Arizona, a state where drug trafficking across the long and sparsely protected border is widespread, nearly 3% of all illegals find themselves incarcerated in a state or local facility at some point during the year. In comparison, roughly 0.7% of citizens and lawfully present immigrants in Arizona are incarcerated. New Jersey, a state with relatively low incarceration rates, sees illegals as 5.5 times more likely than citizens or lawfully present aliens to be incarcerated, even in Texas. Unlawfully present illegal immigrants remain 60 percent more likely to be incarcerated than citizens and lawfully present immigrants. So they like to use it based on a pure number statistic, like American citizens commit more crimes than people who are not here legally. That's true because we have a lot more people here who are citizens than who are here illegally. It's not a numbers game. Dan Bongino returns. It's real. You better produce something fast.
