This episode of We're Alive: Descendants follows Nicholas as he discovers his father Michael has been killed and learns that his best friend Dean is part of a secret organization. Nicholas must decide whether to stay with Vera at the mysterious compound or leave to find his mother, ultimately choosing to depart and catch a train to locate her.
Insights
- Secret organizations can maintain operational security and resources through multi-generational family structures and compartmentalized knowledge
- Trust and transparency in relationships are tested when critical information is withheld with good intentions, creating conflict even when motivations are protective
- Individuals must balance personal loyalty to friends with larger group dynamics and organizational rules that may prevent full integration
- Post-apocalyptic survival requires difficult trade-offs between safety, family reunion, and personal agency

Bloodborne. Two of two. I'm sorry, Nick. He died. He... He... He... He... He... He what? Oh, damn. I'm... I'm so sorry, Nick. No, no, no, no, no. You... You got that all wrong. You can't be... You can't be de... Look, when I left, he was being a jerk, but he was fine. He was safe in Westport. That's where it happened. Vera didn't tell you? Wait, what? You knew? Vera? Nick, I... I... I didn't know him. I... I... I... I... I... I... I... I... I... I didn't know all the details. Then what did you know? That he was attacked and he was going into surgery, but that's all. What the fuck? But you knew? How long have you fucking known? You have to understand. I... I... I wanted to protect you. There's nothing we could do. Dean told me very little over the radio when we were on our way to Cordova Street, and I thought we'd be back way before... The helicopter crash site you've known since then? You don't know how badly I wanted to tell you. At every moment. I just couldn't. There wasn't a good time and it kept getting harder to... Who did it? Who killed Michael? I don't know! What about you? Vera's dad, Oliver, since you know damn near everything. We don't know either. Well fuck it! Somebody better tell me something! How did it happen? He was stabbed in his office in Westport. He never fully recovered and passed a few days ago. Still no one knows who did it. Not even us. Damn. Wait, is that what Vincent was talking about back in Prim? Warning me to go home? Apparently he fucking knew somehow! I only knew because of her. Me? Vincent, you son of a bitch! Oh, still up? I am now. The whole house can hear you. Yeah, she told me. Vera was in and out of consciousness after that, darn. But got real chatty about Nick while I carried her to the plane. I did? It's been known to happen. My toxins can have weird effects. I... I think I kind of remember that. It was constantly on my mind how to tell you, Nick. I'm so sorry. Really had me worried, Nick. After I saw that infected attack. The what? You were attacked! I'm fine. You sure they're clean? Negative QI tests, all of them. Huh. You are really lucky. And then to be able to follow us all the way here too. Figured you'd take the advice, Nick. Go home. But no, didn't want to listen to me. Give me my gun back now. Hey, hey, no. You don't get shit. Fuck you. I don't even need a weapon. Ha. You really want to do this again? Remember what happened before? Yeah. But this time... Nick! Warned you. That... That was nothing. Do I have to choke you out again? Oh, it won't come to that. Aw, damn. I was hoping to see Vincent lose for once. Ha. Oh, he's going. Losing battle, man. Nick, don't. I'll never do... Stay down. That's enough. Nick! Get away from me. Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, God. All that from a little blood? Told you I had to use the bathroom. He's still air-sick from the flight earlier. Ha. Vincent, go back upstairs. You're not helping right now. Fine. You're the boss. And call someone to clean up this mess. Whatever. Fingers, escort them to the guesthouse. If he needs medical aid... I don't need it. I need to go home. And I won't stop you. But now is not the time. I am very sorry for what happened. And how you found out. I thought you already knew. But whether you leave tonight or tomorrow... won't make much of a difference. He's right, Nick. And I don't know if I can go any further. Me neither. I'm exhausted. Nick, in the morning, I'll help you however I can. I promise. Whatever. Fingers, you're short on the way. Yes, boss. And for the last time, good night. Can you walk? You need help up? I'm fine. Nick, I'm so sorry. I never meant... Yeah. No, wait. Please, Nick. Nick! We should give them some privacy. Right. Whatever drama. What? Please. You have to believe me. I didn't tell you because I... I wanted to protect you. It wouldn't have made a difference before. You don't know that. Maybe it would have. Maybe I could have done something. Or maybe I just would have gone home instead of following your ass here. That's not... You don't understand. Yes, yes I do, Vera. You don't. I flew thousands of miles in the wrong direction because of you. Only once I get here, I find out this was for some fucking happy reunion with your dear old dad. And me, I came all this way just to find out that I was losing mine. That's... Oh, Nick. No. Nick? Whatever. This way. So, this place really has a big library? You think I could borrow some books after the bathroom? Of course. Uh-huh. When I get a chance, I'll show you. Fingers, huh? Is that because you're good at... Ninnin'? I'm good at lifting things. I steal stuff. Don't get the wrong idea. Ah, okay. Well, I had to ask. Come on. Come on, knock it off. Dad, knock it off. What are you doing? Could you not really, like, stop being so gross? Ah! Dear... I can see that now. Scared the shit out of me. I'm not scared of you. I'm scared of you. I'm scared of you. I can see that now. Scared the shit out of me. Something that big waking me up. Dot. He came back. So what? You're taking my horse now, too? What? No, it's not like that. He found us and... I'm kidding. That horse never wanted to go back down into the atlas. He chooses where he wants to go now. Dot. And apparently, he wants to be with you. Now, come on. We need to get moving before the boar's people do. Oh, shit. There's a lot more of them now. They continue to arrive through the night, and it won't be much longer. I already sent off the truck with the injured and woke up the rest of the refugees. They're getting ready to move in a few minutes. Son will be up in about a half hour, and I guarantee they'll be on us by then. Why don't we leave behind our best shooters? Keep them on this ridge. In the meantime, we have to try and slow down the boar's crew. Already ahead of you. Grant is gathering the most able body to set up sniper spots along our path, at least until Golden Valley. After that, there will be nowhere else to hide. Well, that's why we have to block their advance at Union Pass before they get to the valley. Are your explosives ready? Here. The switch on the side will give you either 30 or 60 second timer. After you toggle the safety, they're armed. That's it. How'd you learn how to rig bombs? From your movies? Actually, your mom made them. Oh. Yeah, it was a while ago. For the Atlas. But they'll still work. So, I'm setting these up, right? Well, you've got the horse. Only way you might possibly catch up with the refugees. Because we can't just blow the pass ahead of time. We need to do it while the boar's people are coming through the choke point. Uh-huh. Otherwise, it'll give them more time to go around. Alex, this is our one shot. Alright. Then it's gotta be me. I'll set these up while you all push ahead. Dot, dot. No. You're going with Gloria. Both of us don't need to go. Two? Two. Alright, she does have a point. Two bombs, two of you. You're the only ones with body armor. And she's light enough. The horse can probably handle both your weight. I know demon Ken. I-I just... To risk you, Dot. Dot. Dot. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. You're right. It's you and me. Cute. I'll travel ahead with the main group and try to get the Atlas open and everyone inside through the stable entrance. Dot, Dot! The boar's people are on the move. Tell Grant to get his fire team in place. I'm going. We'll get to Union Pass as quickly as we can. Good luck. Don't blow yourself up. See you at Atlas, kid. Come on, go. Sniper team one, take up the ridge now. Second team, cover the retreat to the next checkpoint and so on. It's time to go retreat. Let's go, people. Come on. This... work? And I hope so. It has to. The race is on. Yah! Come on. Look who's finally up. What the hell is that noise? Cicadas. What the fuck is that? Bugs, big ones. According to this book, the Baton Rouge Brewery is the only one that's ever been used. I'm not sure. I don't know. Bugs? Big ones? According to this book, the Baton Rouge Brewery hatches every 13 years. They must have arrived a little later than expected according to this chart. Cool. Well, can you tell them to go away and come back later? I don't mind them. It's the other bloodsuckers inside the house that I'm more concerned with. Cicadas don't suck blood. What are you even reading? Where'd you get that? Oh, you were asleep for a while and I was up early, so fingers let me borrow these from their library. This one's on the local ecology. I was curious about what those bugs were. You got up early and started reading. Man, well, something else. Sometimes I just do not get you. I don't know. It kept my mind off other things and how else do you ever expect to build off the knowledge of the old world? Easy. I don't. You're missing out. I mean, to think. Their lives were so easy they just could sit around and write books about bugs, trees, whatever they wanted. Yeah, it was simpler times. Really? You knew it. How old are you? That's a hell of a question to ask a lady. So... I was five when the outbreak hit. One, two, three. So that would make you... Twenty-three. Or twenty-four, depending on when your birthday is? Twenty-three. I knew it. If you were five, you didn't really know that much of the old world. It was long enough to remember the feeling, okay? You don't have to be around long to understand what peace was like. You think we'll ever go back to that? Not after all I've seen. And I thought I'd seen it all, but then there's this place. It almost feels like it was frozen in time. It is something, isn't it? They had people cutting the grass this morning. It's like, why even bother? Very much old world ways. Getting caught up in trivial bullshit like that. Grass lives better uncut. They do get some things right here, though. I enjoyed having fresh eggs. Wait, you made breakfast? If you want any, there's still a lot left over. I mean, don't they have like a gourmet chef on staff or something? I didn't trust their cooking, would you? Like, they poison us? Who knows what they're capable of? Why give them the chance? So what's the plan? We made it here. Now what? I don't... I don't have any idea. Still replaying everything from last night and... and about Michael. You must have been awful to find out like that. I'm so sorry. It's hard to believe. And what's worse, not knowing who did that to him or... what Pegs is going through. You want to go back to Westport? It wouldn't be like hitchhiking a ride home. That's a hell of a long way. You just want to turn around now? What about Vera? They want her here so badly. Why even bother? You leave her in the hands of these people. You don't even know who they really are. You haven't figured it out. And you have? Did you get a good look at the inside of the house? I got to see a little more when fingers showed me to the library. The wild pig head above the front gate. The rings they all wear. The way they talk. The weapons they use and even how they fight. It all reminded me of some high brow secret society. Like the hermetic order or the black hand. Or what? Those are a thing? How would you even know that? Reading. I told you the bore had an extensive library. I was able to get through pretty much all of it. Had a lot of time on my hands. I wasn't allowed to do much else. But the point is, those societies were dangerous. The black hand was responsible for the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. And that was bad, right? It led to World War One. You think these people are that dangerous? Why not? They stayed organized and survived through the outbreak. Vincent is a hell of a fighter. Nothing like I've seen before. No offense, Nick. I'm starting to get that now. And from the decorations around the house? I mean, they even had a 1700s musket on the wall. These people have been around for a long time. And if Vera is the daughter of the one in charge? Nick, do you know Oliver's story? You've been friends with Vera a while? Her whole life, but this... This is all new to me. I mean, I got pieces, but even she didn't know about him. Only that he walked out on her and her mom. Nothing about being the head of a cult. It doesn't seem like that's what this is. But whoever they are, we need to be very careful. Agreed. Careful of what? Jesus! Where did you come from? Good. You're all up now. Glad you showered and changed those nasty-ass clothes. Boss wants to talk to you. Uh, all of us? Just him. Me? That's what the man said. Fine. What, are you sure, Nick? Hey, you want to know what's going on? Gotta go to the source. He better come back. Or you'll do what? Just stay in the guesthouse. Descendants will continue after a word from our sponsors. Instacart makes grocery shopping easier. And now we continue with Descendants. Sir, I have Nicholas Tink with me. Thank you, fingers. Send him in. Damn. That's a lot of books. Knowledge is power. Your friend Will seems to understand that better than most. He was already rooting through these this morning. This was all here before the outbreak? Not quite as many. We saved a fair amount of these after the outbreak, along with a few other relics. No way! Are these real dinosaur bones? Well, the museums don't need these anymore. If we didn't retrieve them, someone else would have. Could have ended up damaged or destroyed. We hope to preserve a bit of the old world in a new one. Is that what you're doing here? In part. So what are you all? A secret society or some shit? You're like the blood of a man. Secret society or some shit? You're like the black hand. What was it? The hermetic order, right? Right to the point. No, we're nowhere near as bad as the black hand. Although I admit I haven't heard that one mentioned in a while. Well, hey, you know, Will's not the only one who knows how to read. But you're something like one of those groups, right? We're more like a family, connected through the generations. You're correct, and now we have to operate in secret. But even you understand how valuable anonymity can be. Do I? You cut to the chase, so I will too. Vera is my only living blood relative, and that means a great deal here. In many ways, she's the only opportunity I'll have to leave any legacy behind. And why exactly would that matter to me? You care about her safety, her well-being, as do I. If she were to stay here, not only would that be guaranteed, but it would also come with opportunities that no one else could offer. To become more like you. Yes. And you already told her all of this. And now I'm telling you? Because she said no. She did. Partly, I'm assuming, is because of you. Me? Can I ask you what you plan on doing now? Um, I don't know. I'm figuring it out. You want help with that? I told you I would offer assistance. How? I can't tell you much about who we are, but I can say that we are very connected, with places and people all over. Is that supposed to mean something to me, or are you gonna just keep being cryptic? After Michael died, Peggs left Westport to try and find you. I happened to know where she went. Wait, what? She wouldn't go past the walls. How could you possibly know that? One of our members went with her. Who? Dean Mullen. Fucking Dean? He's one of you? I know his mom's, man. There's no way. Oh, Ruth and Mira are part of us too. Are you fucking kidding me? So what? He's been spying on me this whole time? Keeping an eye on Vera and Westport, along with his parents. I know that's difficult to hear, but... Oh, my damn right it is, dude! Oh my god. You tell me someone killed my dad? And then my best friend is a goddamn liar for the entire time that I've known him. I mean... Why the fuck would I ever want your help? Nick. Screw this place! Nick, Nick! Hey, what is going on? Nick! Nick, wait! Dean! Dean's one of them! Did you know that? You been keeping that from me too? I only just found out. I didn't know how to tell you yet. Yeah, that's what I thought. Please, wait! Nick, will you listen to me? I know what you and Dean had beneath all of that. I have to believe he really was our friend. Yeah, was. Damn right. Bunch of goddamn liars all around me. You know what? Maybe you are better off staying with him. You fit right in. Look, hey! Stop walking away from me! You didn't deserve to find out about all of this the way you did. It's too late now, isn't it? Anything else you want to surprise me with? Look, I am so sorry that Michael's gone. I know how much that hurts. No, you don't. You never lost someone like this. Maybe not. But I know how much he meant to you and how much you meant to him. We fought like, like daily. Because he wanted the best for you. And if you both weren't so damn stubborn, I'm sure you both would have said how much you really cared. He may not have been your real dad, but he tried to be. First Lisa, then Michael. Best friend was a phony. My mom's apparently out in the red zone trying to find me. I'm losing the few people I got left. You will always have me. No matter what. Do I? I know it was wrong to keep what happened to Michael from you. If I could go back, I would. But I hope you know why I didn't say anything. That whole time in Prim, we had no control on what was happening to us. I was trying to protect you. How would you have reacted if you known? Like this? I don't know. Maybe I would have tried harder to get out of there and go home. Or you could have made mistakes, been distracted. From what Oliver said, even if you had made it back to Westport, it wouldn't have made a difference. No, that's not true. I could have had a chance to say goodbye, told Michael that I was sorry for a lot of this shit that I said and did. Now I gotta live with that. And I would have been there for pegs. I mean, I'm all shit. Look, there's a lot that I could have done if I had known. Maybe I wouldn't have came here. But do you understand how much it means to me that you did? No. More than you know. Neither of us had any idea what was happening to the other. I was just as worried about you. But we're both here. I'm not here to talk about you. I was just as worried about you. But we're both here now. Look, I can't stay there. Not with my mom out there looking for me, and not after everything that she's been through. You know that. I... I do. As much as I want you here, she needs you more. What about you? Are you actually considering staying? I was told they're gonna find a way for me to call home. And that when I'm ready, I can fly back to Westport. Wait, sick, can they do that now? I mean, I'll take the damn plane. They won't have jet fuel for a while. Said it could take weeks to get enough to travel that far. I don't know if I have weeks. There might be another way. This fucking guy. How could I possibly trust what you have to say? Would it hurt just to listen to your options? Fine. What is it? Dean said he and Peggs were headed to a place called Lechigia in New Mexico. It's near the western border of the Republic. I can give you the coordinates. You won't find it on a modern map. Why the hell would they go there? And what's Lechig... whatever the fuck that is, Lechigia. Dean's message didn't really say, other than that's where they believed you went. So they may not stay there long if they don't find me? Well, your guess is as good as mine. I will try to send a message, but that could take time. Okay, so then what's this other way if we can't fly there? There's a rail line just south of here that comes from the UA, through the Republic, passengers and cargo. It comes and goes every few days. If you can hit your ride, it'll take you all the way there, or at least as close as possible. Really? It's not going to be easy, but... But it's a way. It is. Well, then that's where I'm going. And you'll take your friends too? Staying would make things... complicated. Yeah, members only, right? I don't make the rules. Letting you in here as long as I did was quite out of the ordinary. But you're in charge though, right? You're saying you can't change those rules? I can't. There are courtesies allowed to help others in need, which is why you could stay the night. But even my close friends that I traveled with from the colony weren't allowed. The only exceptions outside the family that can be made are for trainers with special skills. And... I'm sorry. That isn't you. Gee, thanks. Not that I'd want to stay here anyways. Hey, you sure you don't want to come with us, Vera? I think I want to stay. See this through. Might be a bit different than what I'm used to, but that's a good thing. I'll learn things I'd never get a chance to anywhere else. The more knowledge and skills, the stronger the warrior. Hey, this is her decision, alright? Not yours. Nick, look what happened on our first mission after graduation. And with Lisa, I failed all of you. There was no way any of us could have known what was out there. Or how to deal with that fucking monster in the arena. Well, maybe now I will. Maybe this could help all of us survive. Even help Westport. But you have not failed us... ever. But if this is what you want... I do. I want it for me. How long is all that it's supposed to take? To officially become part of a family that depends a lot on the initiate. And how quickly they master each skill set. Could be months, some take years. I'll be done in a week. Well, we'll see. And you can guarantee that she's gonna be safe here. That's my daughter. Of course she will be. Family members have rules against hurting one another. Outside of any normal training or sparring, of course. Not that different from Guardian School in Westport. Yeah. Alright then. I guess you can stay. Not like I needed your approval, but I appreciate your support. Of course. So, I should probably start getting ready myself. If you head out soon, you should be able to get to the rail line within a day or so. Just in time. Otherwise, you'll be stuck waiting for the next one. And we gotta get some shit together. We don't have much to go on, but... Fingers will prepare some travel packs to take with you. Make sure you're well supplied. I'll let her know. Cool. Cool. Um... I guess I better go tell the others. So what, that's it? She's just gonna stay here. With them. Yep. That's what she told me. Wasn't much of a point arguing with Vera. Seemed like she's already made up her mind. She wants this? I guess. Doesn't feel right. Honestly, I'd want to stay. Decades, if not more, of survival training, literature, resources. And I mean, just look at this place. Yeah, well don't get too attached. We can't stay. Members only shit. But they are gonna give us supplies so we can head out before lunch. Wait, we're going now? To where, even? I am headed south. I'm gonna catch a ride and try to find where my mom went. Apparently she took off after Michael died looking for me. I gotta get back to her. You're welcome to come with me if you want or go wherever on your own. That's up to you. Stick with you. I'll stick with you. There's really no other options than if we're getting kicked out. If you want to tag along, you can. I ain't gonna lie. I still hate you for what you did to us but... you did get us here so... at least I never stabbed you in the back like Vincent. And you're just gonna leave Vera here with him. I don't like it either. But I mean, what can I do? Okay? I have to trust that Vera knows what she's doing. Grab whatever you can. We need to get going. I want to try to make it to the rail line before long. Oh, on a train? I've never been on a train before. I have. Trust me. You ain't missing much. I'll be right back. I packed a few days rations and plenty of other supplies you might need. What about our weapons? I took the liberty of unloading everything. You can chamber rounds once we close the gate. Don't trust us, huh? After you're outside our perimeter, you're someone else's problem. Just don't get lost. I got the map. I have a good idea of where we're going. What about my dart tube? That... uh, yeah, completely useless but... here you go. If you only knew. And what about my weapon? Yeah, I don't even know what the hell this is supposed to be. Oh, it's a... it's a mod-a-pistol. I made it myself in the lab back in Prim. If you have all the right materials, it's pretty easy, but I can just build more cartridges since I don't have any more right now. Hey, look, whatever. Just take your junk. Okay. You all set? Uh-huh. Last chance. You sure you don't want to come with us? I'm... good here. Actually getting excited about it now. Yeah, well... I'm still worried. I'm more so about you. That's a long way to go. Well, Will's never seen the world, and now I get to show him a little part of it. Yeah, we get to go on a train. That sounds pretty fun. First, a plane, now a train. Well, what's next? Automobiles. What? Nothing. Um, Burt, Burt will get it. Sure, yeah, or boats. Vincent's not going to show up to send us off. Yeah, I sure like to send him off. Because that worked so well for you last time. Look, you better come home soon, okay? You'll find some way to keep me updated, right? Okay, once you get to Dean, he'll be able to get messages back to us. We have ways. Well, really? Like what? Encrypted relays or sat-phones? How does your tech work? I'm not telling you. Now go on, you're burning daylight. Um, just, uh, one last thing. There. What is it? Something's been on my mind. About how you weren't totally honest about what happened. Do we have to keep going over that? I told you. No, no, I know, but... There's something I need to come clean about. Something that I kept from you. Oh? Those, um, those orders that we followed for the journal that took us to Lisa's crash site. The ones you totally made up yourself? Wait, what? You knew? Please, how can I not have figured that out? This whole time. You're not that clever. I played along. I wanted to support you. Because that's what you've always done. Finally understanding that? I'm getting there. But those orders, I mean, if we didn't leave at all... I've played the game too. The ifs. There's no winning constantly looking behind. The only thing we can do now is to look forward. That's what I'm doing. You need to as well. Yeah. And I know where that needs to be. Your mom? She needs me. More than anyone right now. Come on. I have things to do. Bye, Mara. I love you. Love you too. I heard that. No one asked you out. Wait, hold up. Oh, what now? Seriously? Be careful. I know he's your dad and all, but... I'll be fine, Nakoma. I just... When Vincent grabbed you... You have no room to talk. After what you did to us. Why would you even care? Hey, what's the hold up? I appreciate you bringing Nick. But I think you'd better go. Uh... Yeah. Alright. Y'all don't come back now, yeah? Message me once you get there, okay? Adios, muchacha. Okay. Uh, Compass says we head this way once we're past the traps. Get behind me. Don't exactly trust you walking in front. Good. Yeah, I wouldn't either. Man, this is nasty. These dead bugs are damn near everywhere now. I didn't even notice them when we were coming in. They're just starting to die off. The book says they don't live long. They laid their eggs and now they'll start the 13-year cycle all over again. Some life. But his dead and buried doesn't always die, does it? I keep learning out the hallway. Ah, man. They couldn't have waited another day. This is disgusting. What's up with you? Something doesn't feel right. What? You see something? No. About Vera. All of this. To leave her there with those people. If there's anything like Vincent... You hurt her, okay? She wants to stay. Her dad's there. She thinks this is a good thing now. Go ahead. Try to convince Vera to do something she doesn't want to do. No kidding. I want to go back. And do what? Exactly. You heard them. We're not welcome. I know the way through the traps now. What spots they'll be watching from... Them what? Huh? What? You gonna watch them from the outside until they catch you? We already passed a few abandoned houses and farms. I could easily hold up in one of those. Keep an eye on the place. I've survived in far worse. Why would you even do that? Look, I got you out of danger. Or as much as I could. But now we just delivered her from one mad house into another. Yeah. Uh-huh. And you're the one who even put us... You won't keep reminding me of what I did. Like, I don't already know. One death is on my conscience. I can't have another when I still have a chance to make things right. Is that what you think you'd be doing? You really think that she's in danger? And if she's not? What would be the harm? You don't need me. You have will. Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I can't do much. And you don't even like me. You're making some strong points. Let me do this. I'm not in charge of you, Nakoma. But I trust your judgment. As misguided as you are sometimes, you seem to know what's right. You say no, I won't. What do you think, Will? Oh, don't look at me. I'm no military strategist. Yeah, but you do know things. You were there with us. You saw stuff that we didn't. I mean, if I were to sign a number based on suspicion, 20% chance something's up. Whoa, that high? Or 15? Probably more like 15. I do think that is her dad. There's a resemblance. You feel he cares about her, so maybe it's nothing. You want to leave Vera on a maybe it's nothing. Look, I just, I gotta get to my mom. You know, I just want to... That's why I would go back. Win-win here. Fuck it. Will, you got me out of prim. You'll do great by my side. We can get by without Nakoma. That's hardly a good assessment. You're making the right call. I'll be her safety net. And if she starts to fall, you're gonna catch her. Exactly. You had to spell that out? Do not make me regret keeping you around. Alright. Alright, alright. Good luck to you two. May the warm winds of heaven blow softly upon your house. What does that even mean? It's a, uh, blessing, right? It's not exactly from my people, but it always felt like it fit. Honestly, it's meant to be about a literal house, but... I find it is always given good karma, like, I wish you the best. Okay, okay, okay. Maybe I don't like you only a little now. Whatever. Go on, you two, catch a train. Okay, but, um, bye Nakoma. Good fucking luck, Nakoma. That's a, like, a blessing from my people. The swearing ones. Ha ha ha ha. Should we, uh, keep going? Uh-huh. This way? Yup. Um... Well, we'll head to the 182 Freeway. That should be clear of most infected. At least that's what Oliver said. You gonna be able to keep up? Sure. I mean, when I'm not vomiting, or shaking uncontrollably. Great. You're gonna have to work through it, because this is not going to be easy. Not just the road there. The train, most of all. How, so? Well, there isn't a stop on the tracks anywhere near where we're headed. And, and, what does that mean for us? It means we gotta get aboard that train somehow. And this is not a stop. Oh boy. You want to ride a train, right? Not anymore. Come on. we we we we What? Come on! These rocks are so tough. I'm barely making a dent. The other side was so much easier. Deep. Uh-huh. If we don't get these explosives deep enough into the rocks, they'll just go off on the outside and that won't do any good. We need both formations of the Union Pass to break up and collapse into the road. Dot, dot. Ugh! Ugh! Demon, demon, stop! Okay, okay buddy, okay, okay. Can you take him down the hill? They're gonna be here any minute. Demon! Oh shit. No, no, not yet. It's not ready. Did you rope him off? Uh-huh. All right, get into position at the other bomb. When I give you the signal, flip your switch. They're only gonna be set for 30 seconds. I'm gonna try to get this one in deeper. Dot! Hopefully they won't see it. Cover that one in brush. Dot! Holy shit. That's a tank in front. Dot. Oh man, this better be deep enough. Pig. I know, I know. Wait for my signal, okay? Once the tank is in that cactus there, flip the switch and then run back to Demon. Dot, dot. Go, go, get in position. This has to work. Stay behind the tank. They probably got more snipers in these hills. God damn it, Griggs. Where'd they get all these fucking guns anyway? Wait for it. Wait for it. A little closer. No. Come on now, why'd you stop? They're getting away. Selfie doesn't seem right. Flip it. You hear that? Dot, do it. I heard someone. Dot, run, they're onto us. There they are! Come on, move everyone up. Stay behind the tank, they're ambushing again. Dot, go, go! Come on, just a little closer. I saw them, he's behind the rock down the cliff. Fire the main gun! Blast that motherfucker with that tank! Oh no! No, get away, get away! Fire! Oh, yeah! To be continued in the next episode of We're Alive, Descendants. And now a word from our sponsors. You've been listening to We're Alive, Descendants.
