Summary

KSR Hour 2 covers UK basketball and football recruiting, athletic department budget concerns, and various lifestyle topics including home buying, space exploration, and movies. The episode features discussion of UK's $50M university loan, upcoming basketball recruiting visits, and celebrates the reinstatement of Jeff Drummond to KSR Plus coverage.

Insights
  • UK athletics took a $50M loan from the university for the first time in its history, primarily due to $21M annual rev-share payments, signaling potential long-term budget sustainability issues despite recent spending on rosters
  • Success in college basketball recruiting depends more on player quality and fit than total spending; UK spent heavily last year but lacked Final Four-caliber talent, suggesting allocation strategy matters more than budget size
  • Will Stein's coaching staff is actively engaging program legends and maintaining high-energy practices, with visible improvements in offensive line talent and player engagement compared to previous regime
  • The entertainment district and LLC business ventures pose financial risk if they underperform, as athletic departments becoming profit-focused enterprises face business failure consequences unlike traditional university operations

You can buy with backup every qualifying part backed by five years parts warranty at Don Franklin In summer set 29 locations quality installed peace of mind mile after mile here at Don Franklin They brought pizza and I'm glad the all the summer set folks got got pizza one person writes did Ryan get chili bumps at the closing Yeah, that friend surprised you didn't say that I just felt so proud. I mean, I just kind of just even bought lunch That's how excited he was He even bought lunch because you got a nice little check yesterday. I did and I can't thank you enough for that My family thanks you I have food now for a couple months How much you eating? That's true You have a lot of food Well, you know we're meeting a handyman guy over at your house today kind of get some little issues kind of Yeah, get it going for you. It'll be perfect for you. What verse right? So you keep talking about furniture Matt Did you not have furniture in your old house the same furniture? I had since college. I mean I did it Like if you if you walked into my living space in both well, not so much Lexington But especially in Louisville if you walked into my living space you would probably think this guy is just 24 but reads a lot of books. That's probably what you would think so I did recognize that you know It's time to get closer to adulthood in terms of because literally I had the same place in Louisville I've had for 18 years with the same stuff in it pretty much So it is kind of time for an update. I went to that too when I moved I had like my kitchen utensils And I looked at them and I was like my idiot friends were using these 2007 I should probably renew going into a new house and buy some new things. Yeah, and I have it So this is kind of cool. My mom suggested this when I became a lawyer. My mom was like you should buy a desk That is a really nice desk that you can have for your entire legal career And it's like, you know, this was With you from the beginning so I bought this old antique desk and of course my legal career span four years But now I have this desk and it is a hundred years old and it's beautiful But it's also weighs like 50,000 pounds and so moving that is very very difficult It's part of reason I never moved in Louisville is I never wanted to move that desk I said I will just stay here until they bury me so that I never have to move this desk That's the one thing you've talked about. That's the one thing you're gonna bring in your house It's like it goes back to like the 1800s and now if you're thinking about putting it upstairs. Yeah, it's not getting upstairs I don't know. I don't even know how we do that. All right couple things here And then I want to talk about a conversation I had yesterday the what is it Artemis or as I call it in Belle County Artemis Space show is on its way back or the the pod is what Ori Ori on yeah, I was mispronounced it I interrupted whatever I said whatever it is. It's on its way back And I was reading about this yesterday So I think it like two o'clock or two thirty or something it will come through the atmosphere and for eight minutes You may have seen this in movies over the years Apollo 13 or whatever for eight minutes It will come through the atmosphere and they will lose all communication with ground level and they will basically just be you know spiraling into the pits of earth through Whatever is in our atmosphere helium. I don't know whatever it is getting through there for eight minutes And it is the most dangerous part of the mission. It is the thing that over the years. Okay has failed at times But all the way through and then eight minutes later They will be able to communicate again, and then they will splash down in the ocean And I was reading this thing where an astronaut that had done it said it is the scariest eight minutes That you can have in life. So here's my question. I was thinking about that think about eight minutes a long time Long time can't talk to anybody You know just falling fast Fire I mean, it's who knows it's gotta be crazy How do you think you would handle those eight minutes? Well first the four of us are interlocking fingers got interlocked fingers for that I think if you're gonna interlock fingers though, that's an excuse to do that That's a time that I think interlocking fingers would be okay me and my fellow astronauts. We're becoming one in that moment We're holding on to each other. I don't know how intense it is I don't know if we can sing but I'm we're doing something to distract ourselves We're just gonna power through this eight minutes and then smooth sailing the rest of the way home Do you definitely interlocking fingers? You can handle the eight minutes. I'm with the drill be singing praying Trying something that eight minutes. I'm sure it feels like eight hours. Oh, it's gone through it. Take forever. I Don't know if I could do it So you just stay in space like Leave me up here I would even leave Earth to go up in space. I don't think oh come on You wouldn't go if like that was your career I mean you might not go now, but if that was your career and your life's goal was to go up there and you know get I mean You just be like no because of those eight minutes. Well, no, that was my career. I was thinking about right now I don't know if it's be worth it to me because that's got to be just unbelievably scary lose all communication with the people that's trying to Guide you to the oceans you can land safely Do you think when you're up in space and kind of floating around? Would you be worried about the thing that's to come a few days later? Would it get into your mind and make it not to where you could enjoy so much this amazing time? No, and I'm they've had so much training and been preparing for this for so long They have no control part of it is like you're also not in control. You're just falling Yeah, I would be I would love to do it I don't think I have the education that I would get that opportunity But if I would love to do it and I would handle the eight minutes to be able to experience the rest of it You believe Hollywood you're falling you're spinning you're tumbling it's like it's spinning you around like crazy for eight minutes I ain't doing that. I mean aren't you just Aren't you just like in a seat belt? What do you mean? Do you mean the the the capsule is spinning or yourself or in Hollywood? The capsule spin and I understand those are movies. They was not those are not documented But that's what's going through my head. Just give me a Benadryl knock me out. I sleep through it Well, that's a good Alert eight minutes later. You might need to land in the water after that I ain't doing it Well, I had strong thoughts about the bathroom while you were going I don't see they had bathroom problems like two or three times shut up. I don't want to hear you talk about a bathroom anymore Sticky situation. All right shut up By the way, did you see as anyone here seen the the big huge movie about space the project? Hail Mary is he missing you see that No one see like everyone in the world seen it. It gets no one here. Just me and you Well, then I'm only really talking to you sir. I Don't understand why everybody liked it so much He's just talking to a rock for two hours Like for people that he just I didn't I don't know what I thought it was about I didn't know anything about it I didn't know I was gonna watch a guy talk to a rock for two hours and I was supposed to like think they were friends Did you was it meaningful to you? It was Okay, but ET a cuter face this was a rock. It was just a rock with arms. I just never got it I mean, I is it like cast away with Tom Hanks and a volleyball He's just talking to that for two hours kind of but in this case the rock is talking back But it's not speaking English although I never really understood how the computer was supposed to have been able to translate his language but regardless You know There were people around me in the theater Crying like literally there were people crying when I'm gonna spoil it, but the rock and he don't get to get married So there were people there were people that were crying and I I didn't I don't know I just felt like what what am I missing? He's talking to a rock and like what is I don't know So I'd be interested if you go and see you know, it's it's good Sounds like it sounds like you're a big fan. Yeah, you sold it really well, but there are people who are saying It's like the best movie they've seen in years and I I just I feel like I'm fundamentally missing Because it's because the only the whole movie is him talking to this rock and it's long It's like seven and a half hours long So it doesn't get the Matt Jones movie list at the end of the year I mean, I'm not gonna go again, but but but I I was like I'm gonna see what's it called the drama or something That's out right now. I want to see that but I'm not gonna see the rock movie anymore. Who's up next Jordan is up next Jordan go ahead Jordan Hey Matt So I think as fans we can all agree that you know in the NIL era Kentucky sports hasn't really been you know what we have hoped for and I'm trying to decide Be what? You know the big problem is and I kind of narrowed it down to two different schools of thought And I wanted to see what your thoughts were so okay one is Is it a problem of expectations and what I mean by that is You know you just said Providence loaded up on Miles burden. No, I'm gonna answer your first one It's not I'm tired and I'm gonna continue to be tired of people and I know that you're not doing this You're just suggesting it, but people have to stop acting like our expectations are unreasonable. This is Kentucky basketball I'm not asking us to win every national championship I'm asking us to not be lose 14 games and lose to Missouri and Georgia at home and lose by 40 to Gonzaga Like I'm not I'm not asking for unreasonable things now in football sometimes our expectations are unreasonable But to be fair we won you know four games back to back I don't think it's unreasonable to say can we compete to go to a bowl every year So I'm gonna disagree with number one. So what's the next? Let me let me sort of maybe it's other programs expectations like Providence doesn't expect To be good every year so once every three to five years they can just say We beat Santa Clara we beat Santa Clara after hitting a Miracle half-court shot at the buzzer to send it to overtime We probably spent ten times more money of in I on our program than Santa Clara It's not ridiculous to think hey can we not need a miracle shot to go to overtime to Santa Clara Okay, and then the other The other one I had was potentially question of resources so like Obviously, you know, there are football schools like Ohio State Ole Miss South Carolina that don't really care about basketball They just load up on football There are basketball schools that don't care about football like St. John's UConn And then there are schools that do both but have a lot of really rich donors like Okay, so you know like those yeah, but that's not our issue from what I've been told and again I'm not in the balance in the budget. I do not think amount of money is our problem Yeah, now it might be one day, but as of today I don't think at least in the last few years drew the the amount of money we've had is wrong I mean literally we spent more on our roster than almost any team in the country last year So clearly the amount of money was not wrong now I do think football maybe two or three years ago amount of money was an issue. I do not think it's an issue right now but what might be an issue is how that money is allocated and Some of the provisions that are used to allocate the money, but I don't think to your point Does Michigan and Texas have more money than us? Yes, are they always gonna have more money than us? Yes, but at least in the last few years I don't think it's been a mount of money so much as how it has been used Okay, I understand last thing Costco has top three pizza in Lexington Disagree, I go appreciate that really I'll just go eat lunch at Costco Anything top three pizza Top three is pretty strong, but it's easily top 10 maybe top five for me now I will say this in terms of out of money I don't think money has been our issue in the last three years But I do think there's a red flag out there that almost no one has talked about For the first time in my lifetime of covering UK sports That one of things Mitch Barnhardt has been very proud of for 20 years is that UK athletics was self-sustaining They paid for themselves, right? They didn't take any money from the university They didn't take any money from students. It was actually there weren't too many athletic departments that did it UK did it Kind of buried in all the news about we know we're making the athletics board private We're giving Mitch this goodbye package all this stuff UK athletics took like a 50 million dollar loan from the university That is not sustainable long term now it may be okay right now But I mean that they took a massive look I don't think UK athletics has ever had to take a loan from the university UK athletics took this big loan. I will say Ryan long term They've got to find a way to fix the budget because they're not gonna be able to do that Is the 50 million dollar hit from lack of success and football and basketball or two prime programs? I mean, I think it's all of a sudden you had $21 million a year in rev share you had to give and you've never been budgeting for that 21 million dollars So all of a sudden they just got 21 million dollars added to the budget So I understand why they had to do it But they've got to find a way to make that up in the future They won't be able to keep doing now I can't do that and I worry you know They're planning this big entertainment district that they think is gonna bring in a lot of revenue But just to someone who knows the Lexington dining and going out scene a little bit I'll worry that even that'll work and they could get even farther in the hole I mean that'll be great on game days, but whatever that ends up being what's that gonna be like on a Monday in the summer You know, I wonder if that's gonna be as profitable as they think it's gonna be Well, I mean one of the problems about UK athletics becoming a private LC and essentially a profit-making enterprise Maybe that leads to a lot of success, but what if those businesses fail? You know what I mean? I mean if UK athletics puts up a hotel. What if the hotel fails now? It's not just the hotel failing. Maybe it's UK athletics failing like businesses fail You know and when you make a athletic department essentially a business Maybe you go gangbusters And I think that is something that's at least a worry right and now that they're doing all these LLCs There's just one after another they don't have to answer for much and who knows how it'll turn out. We'll see Corbett hemp seltzers are now available at Woodman's locations all across the state in Wisconsin But they're also available here in Lexington. Do you know the four flavors? Peach iced tea. All right, there's three more Strawberry no peach no blackberry blackberry Salted watermelon to there's two more. Yeah What is it? blueberry Raspberry lime a Cornbread it's cornbread hemp calm promo code is KSR. There's a store locator on the site Seltzers gummies. It's all there for you at cornbread hemp. We'll take a break and be right back here at Don Franklin's KSR Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live Don Franklin Hyundai Backroads to job sites the Franklin truck league is built for mud, muscle and miles here where legends are built at Don Franklin audio We are auto we are here in Somerset at the Hyundai good crowd here that's joined us for today I want to note something before I go to the phones Jeff Drummond who many of you know the name for Going back 25 almost 30 years worked at the cats paws for a long time Then cats illustrated has recently joined KSR plus couple days ago The folks that run on three Told us that they were making a change and that Jeff would no longer Be part of house of blue and part of KSR plus That was met online with a lot of negative reaction because Jeff Drummond is an awesome guy He's he's one of the few people covering UK sports been doing it longer than I have and It was nice because he was it was not nice it happened But it was nice how much people showcased how much they liked him for those of you that Follow UK sports on the internet. He goes back longer than anyone So myself and Justin Rowland's mother folks we to Tyler we talked to the people at on three the leaders and to their credit They reverse the decision. They kind of heard the fans brought him back He will now be back with with the website Jeff's one of the nicest people Ryan. I know you've known him forever And it's very rare in today's sort of corporate world that a decision is made and then people actually listen to the consumers and then flip it Cuz court businesses don't want to do that, but they did Appreciate that and it's nice to have Jeff Drummond doing what he's supposed to do which is covering UK sport I was so happy to see that and I really command on three for doing that and listening to the public because Jeff Drummond is One of the best people you will ever meet in this business. I mean he's been matter of fact I think I sent Jeff his very first text message. That's how far back we go. We used to discover text messages. Yes What do you mean you send him his first text? I did you know when cell phones finally came around late 90s I sent him his first text. How do you know that? He called me like what is this? I don't know what is it? How do I text you back? Five years ago true story. Yeah, hang on just so you're telling me. Yep. What year is this late 90s? Maybe early 2000s. I'm not certain so you have a cell phone Yeah, you're a text and I'm a new texture and you sent you send Jeff a text message He probably had some recruiting story and needed the update needed the scoop and you tell me he had never gotten one Until you said yeah, and he called me like what is this? How do I text you back? That's hard for me to believe true story facts. All right at the forefront of technology over here Didn't realize I had my own Mark Zuckerberg standing next to me Breaking the technology to the world of text message. He is one of the best guys not just he's great at what he does He's a better person and I'm so happy to see him back in the fold. Well good. By the way, I learned a I from Ryan too He sent me a sent me chat GPT and what is this Ryan lemon? You're always on the forefront Yeah, I hated that Jeff had to go through that I know that was a rough 24 hours on him and his wife But I hope he saw that response that night after the news leaked out How many people appreciate him and love him and I'm glad it got corrected So stinks that he had to go through it, but I'm glad it's ended up the right way and the way it needs to be because Jeff as I wrote I can't imagine UK internet without Jeff drumming being a part of it I think 1999 was his first year. So it was The first time I was on the internet reading about UK sports was 1998 and I don't remember the names of the people who were doing it then but I do remember Jeff He was kind of the young guy at the time and now he's one of the old guard doing it I'm glad to see personally. He's like the only person that talk well I shouldn't say the only but like any media event Jeff has quick to come up and start a conversation and say hi He's just a great and friendly guy outside of the internet to yeah Reds he's a big reds guy reds fan who's up next Mike is up next Mike go ahead was Ryan lemon the first person to send you a text message Mike He was not but okay having to talk to you under these certain sizes circumstances But I must shaft eyes you once again from the scorching the good name of the Hamburg Costco Wow, I Don't know I guess you know as as somebody once told me I guess you just don't get it I mean if you don't understand Costco, I guess you don't get it, but I don't get it I freely acknowledge that I don't get it and I'm not trying to be mr. Unpopular with my project Hail Mary tape Take and my Costco take I don't get it But that's okay. You know, I just feel like I must forward you I do not think that Talking down upon your newly I guess your new area and Hamburg is a smart decision I think it will continue to age poorly. Well, I mean the good thing about like Walmart type stores is That you can get whatever you need But Costco just does the same thing But then it's like five thousand of them and it just feels like like if you were to sort of look at what the rest of the world Thinks is wrong with America. It's when you walk into Costco and they're like would you like ten Thousand cleaner solutions and you're like man, I just want to be able to take the state off my Counter, I can't believe you compared it to Walmart. I'm now with the collars We can't have this slander of cotton Walmart. That's kind of crazy, bro I like Walmart. I appreciate the call. We have it in Middlesbrough. We had the first super Walmart in Kentucky in Middlesbrough Who's that? I think you just need to take one ride with the Kirkland toilet paper and you'll be in for Costco Who's next Michael Todd is next Michael Todd go ahead Hey Matt Sorry if you already touched in on this, but I think yesterday on Twitter Jasper Jasper Johnson's uncle Trying to run his mouth again and I mean that dude never stopped I mean you would think that Jasper Johnson average 40 points and 15 rebounds last year and then he's like he's like Without saying he's like kind of pulled a race card like Mark hook the racist or something. Well, he didn't say that but but but I will say appreciate the call he I mean at this point he clearly likes the attention and You know, that's what it is. I He played here, which makes it to where it's hard to just ignore what he says at the same time With respect to to Derek Jasper is now no longer on the team So he kind of said his piece and my view is we just kind of move on So I did see that comment, but I didn't really feel like it was bringing up because what else is there to say? He's made it clear that he thinks Jasper was handled incorrectly. He's made it clear what he thinks about Pope All right, you made that clear. I think now we move on to these whoever these next players are and we get ready and Celebrate them because Pope is gonna still be here and Jasper is not. We'll take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio What a back to the sports radio here at Don Franklin Hyundai in Somerset. I was just saying to them during the break You know from the old if if for those of you that back watched wrestlers when it came out on Netflix I know a lot of people did a lot of names from that show this weekend They're doing another one of those slap fighting things which I don't want to watch that I don't think that's entertaining that kind of freaks me out, but there are people that like it Haley is in it Messlers she's big in it. She she's like going for a belt. Okay, then they have Two people you may not remember, but they were in the show Danny Moe and facade They're in it and then she was in it. I saw it on the market. She is massive Whoever's getting slapped by him. Why in the world would you want to do that? I was like is this just like everyone from from the old OVW days when is Shannon gonna be in it? Oh, we got to get Shannon signed up for the slap fighting. That's crazy to me like I'll watch about anything But just sit there and slap in each other back and forth is wild Yeah, I think I think it's pretty crazy as well. You remember we said yesterday that on the Masters Drew was going to name Whoever wins the Masters he was going to name his little baby girl that first name and we talked about the options And then we all did our picks Ryan lemon picked Rory McElroy. I picked a guy named Sam Burns and Looking right now at the leaderboard tied for first are Sam Burns and Roy McElroy. There we go Like me and Ryan lemon I see a Samantha Rory Franklin coming in your future Good be I mean that is actually a legitimate that could be a name of a girl Samantha Rory Franklin And I would probably get slapped Jose Maria fell off I was really counting on that one. It was a fun hour there But are you proud you and I we know ball we know golf we're I did a lot of show prep last night picking my golfer You knew literally one golfer's name. I knew the guy that won last year. Let's go with him repeat yesterday Derek Abney UK football practice former Derek Abney was at the practice along and There's video will Stein had him speak to the team I think it's very cool Drew to see will Stein kind of embrace it. It's interesting because will Stein grew up during the Tim couch Derek Abney era So all these guys who were like my childhood slash, you know high school people I watched That's who he watched too. So he's enamored by them. So Derek Abney spoke to the team yesterday. I think that's cool Yeah, that's just added to all the excitement coming out of that building now I mean till they play actual football, you know, they're winning everything right now with the publicity But it started like he was shouting out Raphael little in his first interviews He'll just randomly take pictures around the facility of legends Andre Woodson came back a week or two ago I mean, we haven't heard from Andre Woodson if forever. He was at practice. So I love that will and their staff are including all these Legends I'd say from the programs past a big group of people that I know including max They all went to practice yesterday and they were saying like Dude the energy is amazing Just the what like people are so into it the players are dialed in he was like it looks like so much fun And they all had the same thing Ryan they said our offensive line Looks like the guys we used to play against Alabama And he was like, you know, if you just look at them, they look like an Alabama LSU offensive line He was like we we can see where the money went when it comes to that offensive line It's so crazy the two or three guys I've talked to me to practice say the same thing They're the energy is unbelievable and the offensive line is massive huge I mean that I'm glad like said literally the starting offensive line The word was that it looked to me like when we played Alabama Yeah, Lon was a huge priority But I also love how young these coaches are and how they're getting into it yesterday The cornerbacks coach was available after practice and he had a splint on and he broke his finger by jumping in practice And trying to do the peanut punch I mean, they're not just sitting on the sideline with clipboards and blowing whistles They're getting out there and trying to mix it up and be a part of it. You like our coaches getting injured We're not injured, but I mean respectfully to the last staff I don't think those guys were getting out there and getting on the field ten toes down as coach Allen Brown Brown said yesterday, but I like that they're still young enough to really get you know, fill it and be a part of it Yeah, well who's up next Taylor is up next Taylor go ahead Taylor Hey guys excited to hear that a J drum is back glad to hear that news I Just wanted to say I think this weekend that we are due for some good basketball Recruiting news since Gary's gonna be occupied with the baby and I'm getting married So I feel like we're we're putting some good It's a good time for news to come out right like during this Well, and and I think what they like you whoop so maybe we get I'm wishful thinking but Also used to be a Costco hater, but we're also using Costco cake as our wedding cake So I can't really be people not do you just like it? They so they do pizza hot dogs wedding cake Toilet paper they do it all ours car golf clubs. Yeah, but see do we want to have one company? Running all of our stuff. I think that would be Amazon would be the problem there. Okay true You just need to experience Costco. I have and I felt like I needed a shower when it was up. That can be the case Appreciate the call who's next Kevin is up next Kevin go ahead Kevin Yeah, I just got kind of wanted to make an argument for retaining talent and and paying them Even if it's a little higher than what they what they think but Because you know, there's some there's only so many studs the axles in the portal So let's just say hypothetically we get you know, Diallo and then the Syracuse Power Ford That's basically another O way and an Aberdeen So and then you know, we fill that out with with the with the roleplayers the guy from Colgate We're looking at and you know some other And that Colgate guys were like I think he's ranked 140th. So my point is So if they bring in the Colgate guy he your look they're bringing him in as a backup I would assume Okay, so here's my hypothetical or here's my question then would you rather not over look pay over pay a little bit for Yelovich and Chandler or have Or have the Colgate guy, but I mean, why do you think I say this? Chandler I wish stayed okay. I do wish Chandler stayed But like take Yelovich. I like Yelovich But I would make the argument that there are 40 Yelovich's in the portal that there's like like he's I like him But on a really good team Yelovich is a backup So I feel like we can go find another Yelovich Chandler's a different conversation, but do you disagree? I Don't know if there's a 47 footer or 611 guys that can shoot the three and pass the way you can There's a lot of guys who can't rebound and can't play defense. I mean while I agree with you not everybody can shoot like him He's a really good shooter and he's unique in that regard, but he is a Terrible rebounder and a really bad defender. So I mean yes for a big There aren't a lot of guys that shoot like him I will agree with that But what but like a lot of people he giveth, but he taketh away Yeah, good points I think there's a ton of value though and we know those guys have been here They've they've seen what it's like to play at UK and to me if you got to pay him a million more to get them here You know do it I mean, I just think they're more valuable than guys that are gonna be role players and bench players and we're bringing them in and They're they're they are All right, I appreciate the call so let me put it a different way Drew Bill Simmons who I've listened to for many many many years When he's talking about in the in the NBA draft He always does his draft preview and they say this every year and I really like this because it makes me think he'll say alright I just watched the NBA finals whoever played and when he's looking at draft people he'll go Could this guy have played in that game? Could you have put him in that game and he could fit in and and Bill says when you're down to two players? Ask yourself that question. I actually like that as a stat. So here's my question for you. We just watched the final four How many guys on our roster? Do you look at and you go they could have played in those games? All right, I think I always certainly could have I think Aberdeen could have I think Moreno Could have although he would have had a physical difficulty with it Chandler could have but probably coming off the bench But in my opinion if you don't look at a guy on your roster and say he could have played in that Michigan, UConn get Then it's not the worst thing in the world drew if you're replacing them for somebody else I'm not saying that he would have been the best player, but can he could he have just played in that game? I Don't think we had many that could have especially with the physicality. It might be Owe Aberdeen and Diabate off the bench for me and I love Malachi, but we saw a Malachi on the tournament. They could have played Yeah, I mean I love Malachi. I'm glad he's back But I don't think as a freshman he could have done much in that game either now I think he'll make a big jump But no, I don't think many people on that roster could have could have held up I mean I even said that night like they were playing a different sport. Yeah Kentucky played Yeah, the final four games were so physical and rough not a lot of great outside shooting. So I Don't know how much Chandler would have played. I think it would have been like Jerusalem Diabate may have played the most minutes of anybody in the final four. I will say about Chandler I agree with you that thing all things being equal. I'd rather have Chandler But I don't know that you can page if you as I said yesterday if you were gonna pay Chandler what he wanted He needed to be our second best player on the team. So the question you have to ask yourselves Do you think we could have made a final four next year with Colin Chandler is the second best player on the team? If the answer is yes, then I understand being disappointed that he's gone if the answer is no He wanted us to pay him like the second best player on the team And I don't drew think he could have been the second best player on a final 14 I'm his biggest fan. I agree and on the point of overpaying like you just said pay Chandler and Yelovic each an extra million Well, that's two million you got and get a pretty good player that you would be overpaying I mean if you wanted to pay Chandler and Yelovic each a million more then you would have needed Chandler To be the second best player on the team and Yelovic to be the fourth best player on the team and Let's assume Moreno by what you're paying him is the third best player on the team Can you win a national championship with one really good player off the portal? Chandler Moreno and Yelovic And what I would say to you is we started Chandler Moreno and Yelovic this year running back We had two guys better than those guys and you saw how good we were We're since we just running it back and I Ryan don't think that would be what you would do Like I said yesterday with all due respect to Colin Chandler They need to go out and get a couple guys better than him if they want to make a run and get Kentucky basketball back They need guys that are better than Colin Chandler Everyone's checking out the odds at Keeneland this week. We're like we got this guy We took him to the Keeneland winter circle and show them our horses than the next day picks another school But it is important to get those guys out there Keeneland works because yeah We did go like oh for four last year on Keeneland people it works in the sense that Kentucky's one of the only places where like everyone recognizes these guys so they get mobbed by the fans as far as the The horses and the burgu I don't know if that's gonna have a big impact But put them out in front of so many people that know who they are it really helps well the first year Pope was here Keeneland we were like five for five on keeneland. It was one of the Mari Andrew Carr I think Lamont, but like we were we got them all Then last year we weren't so we need to get Keeneland Ryan back on the good side Because you're not gonna have two better days to go out there than today and tomorrow That's what I was gonna say I think there's picture perfect weather to take somebody out there and show the beauty of Keeneland Because you get that thing when you walk in it just feels like you're in a special place Hopefully the recruits will feel that yes a 59 to 80 2287 who's up next Ryan is up next Ryan go ahead Ryan Hey Matt, I'm gonna get right to it try to make this quick I want to thank you for turning me on to the neighbor series So good and I was watching it now and I was watching it the last episode there and as I'm watching it I'm watching it with my wife interestingly enough and I've realized that he they sent him to the colony down here in Hudson, Florida, and that's where I live No, I live in Hudson, Florida, let's get Not the new discolony of okay gotcha Yes, correct. It's kind of crazy There's one of these places in this town to have eight of these kind of places in that town That's kind of good like it's right drew everybody needs to be around people of like, you know, just be so they all go there And you got variety though, maybe you know, they don't bother everybody but like they don't bother everybody else everywhere else How do you pick your community though?
