Summary

Coast to Coast AM host George Noorie and guest Micah Dank discuss philosophical and theological arguments for God's existence, including celestial design, human consciousness, the power of prayer, and the role of belief in human life. The conversation explores the intersection of science, spirituality, and personal faith while addressing questions about miracles, extraterrestrial life, and the nature of evil.

Insights
  • Design arguments for God's existence remain compelling to audiences: the perfect celestial calendar (sun, moon, zodiac) and human body complexity are presented as evidence of intentional creation
  • Prayer and meditation may have measurable societal effects: the anecdote of Buddhist monks reducing Washington D.C. crime by 30% suggests consciousness-based interventions warrant serious consideration
  • Belief functions as a bridge between unknowable metaphysical questions and human action: belief enables people to act morally without empirical proof, serving as a practical necessity for society
  • Identity and religious conditioning may obscure spiritual truth: the discussion suggests that assigned religious identities at birth may prevent people from discovering universal spiritual principles
  • The existence of evil is theologically integrated rather than contradictory: biblical references frame evil as part of divine creation, reframing the problem of suffering as intentional design
Trends
Growing interest in non-denominational spirituality and universal consciousness concepts among mainstream audiencesIntegration of Eastern philosophy (Buddhism, Hindu concepts of Brahman) with Western religious discourse in popular mediaIncreased questioning of institutional religion in favor of personal spiritual exploration and direct experienceUse of scientific frameworks (AI, mathematics, cosmology) to support theological arguments rather than refute themPodcast-driven discourse on metaphysical topics reaching mass audiences outside traditional religious institutions

George Norrie with you along with Micah Dank as we talk about the possibility of the existence of God. We'll take your calls next hour and see what happens. Micah, while we were doing some research about your story coming up tonight, I went on Google and put in some AI information about the existence of God. Let me read you what they said. You ready? Sure. It says, There is no definitive scientific proof for or against God's existence, but various arguments and types of evidence are offered, including the universe's origin, the Big Bang, its apparent design, the existence of morality and consciousness, fulfilled prophecy, personal religious experiences, and the unreasonable effectiveness of mathematics in describing reality. These are matters of interpretation rather than empirical proof What the heck does that all mean? Well, I was just looking over one of my presentations that I usually do And I came across something that I wanted to share with you To me, if you want So where we're located in our section in the Milky Way Which is nowhere special, right? We're just a random dot somewhere in the Milky Way galaxy Exactly In the greater, greater universe, we have the sun, which tells the hour of the day. We have the moon, which tells us the day of the month. And we have the zodiac, which tells the month of the year. So where we're located in a seemingly random place, we have a perfect celestial calendar. And to me, that's a fingerprint of creation. Well, there's no doubt in my mind that there's some kind of intelligence behind all this. I mean, look at the human body, for example. We have a mouth to talk, a nose to breathe, eyes to see, and ears to hear. What genius would come up with that? Well, that's good. That's, you know, that's the whole argument between, in the Bible, when they're talking about the firmament, where they're talking about the dome over Earth. round earth versus flat earth. That's the whole thing is that if the earth is flat and there is a dome over it, then there absolutely is a creator. And I think society tries to pull you away from that, to be honest with you. Well, let me ask you this though, Micah. And how would you explain this? Take this position just for a moment. If there is no God, if there is no creator, how can you explain everything that exists? You can't, because something cannot come from nothing. Correct. Though we might not have the answer how it exists, you can't explain the non-existence of it. Nobody can. You know, there's a quote from Alan Watts. I recently saw a production that they put on for him. It was like a visual, it was in a dome. They did like a visual audio slash, they had a philosophy over there. And when I was telling you that everything is a part of God, Alan Watts has this quote, and he says, Jesus Christ knew he was God, so wake up and find out eventually who you really are. In our culture, of course, they'll say you're crazy and you're blasphemous, and they'll either put you in a jail or in a nuthouse, which is basically the same thing. However, if you wake up in India and tell your friends and relations, my goodness, I've just discovered that I'm God, they'll laugh and say, oh congratulations at last you found out What took you so long right Exactly Well we know one thing Prayer works So when we pray where does it go to Somebody's doing something. Well, there's this great story. I don't know if you've heard this story before, but in Washington, D.C., they flew in a bunch of Buddhist monks to sit in a hotel at one point and then just basically pray. So they had a hotel full of these Buddhist monks, and they were meditating and they were praying. And it turned out that that weekend that they were there, crime went down in D.C. 30%. I heard about that. Right. Dramatic. Yeah. Well, I mean, you're connecting with source when you pray, to be honest. People think that it's like, I'm going to send a prayer out there and then God is just going to be like, okay, here you go. That's not how it works. you're sending humans are responsible for two things you're responsible for your thought your your um intentions and your actions you're not responsible for your thoughts i mean think about it george sometimes we all get like bad thoughts in our head and then our mind reacts to it viscerally yeah but how can you both be the source of the thought and the reactor and I think one of the things that creates the confusion is when people pray they don't know where it goes if things happen bad things happen they don't know why it's confusing to a lot of people especially those who are non-believers right that's also part of atheism why is there childhood sickness why is there this and And as good as it gets, I mean, as bad as it gets out there, as bad and as awful as it is, the equal on the other side, as good as it gets, happens. Because everything is polarity. Everything is binary. Were you raised as a believer? No, I was not. I was raised in a Jewish household, a conservative Jewish household, and I never, ever took to it, to be honest with you. I never accepted that God was what this, you know, holy text that it was. It never sat well with me since I was like nine. And I've been, you know, looking for answers there. And then you can kind of see it anywhere, to be honest with you. If you just look. There's a quote from this lady, Nargis Alegria. She's a thinker. She's on Instagram, and she's everywhere. And she says, to become absolute, you have to accept that you are God, that there is only God. You have to admit that others are God's too. But if your love does not stretch that far and you are blinded by your shadow, don't complain that liberation didn't happen yet. Why should freedom reveal itself to someone who refuses to embody love? When you are ready to perceive God in everything, you have opened a gate, a gate that opens the possibility of being eaten raw in the absolute, or by the absolute. P.S. Everything you hate is God, because there is only God. anything you think that should not be happening is God because there is only God. Realize there will only be God and it will prevail first in your experience than in the collective. And I know you're going to want some after hearing this. This is an amazing story. We've got Stephen and Malachi Gregory in Nelson, New Zealand. I understand that Malachi, who's eight, almost nine years old now, was suffering with not just one or two warts, but I mean a significant outbreak of warts all over his body. So significant it impacted his ability to really function. Yeah, he was having trouble even holding a pencil to write. It was Ty's book, actually, that got me thinking about it. I'm not surprised. It is an amazing immunomodulator. And so I can see that it would work. And so at what point did you see that there was actually improvement? It's really going to work. Well, look, we really started to notice it around 12 weeks. You can see these things actually getting smaller and smaller and then going down to with just little red marks, the whole things are gone. And we're talking about one the size of a walnut. I thought, no way that's going to. Wow. It's just been miraculous. To see him get into a pair of shoes. Yes. How wonderful. It's great to see him so happy and confident. Absolutely wonderful. Our friends that have seen it, that is blown away. Ty, this is awesome. Yeah, this is awesome. Another amazing story. Why? To keep this secret, for so many years, he's like a seasoned pro. This is a story about the end of a marriage. But it's also the story of one woman who was done living in the dark. You're a dangerous person who preys on vulnerable and trusting people. Your predator might go up and good. Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. have both been assassinated. And Black America is at a breaking point. Writing and protests broke out on an unprecedented scale. In Atlanta, Georgia, at Martin's alma mater, Morehouse College, the students had their own protest. It featured two prominent figures in Black history, Martin Luther King Sr. and a young student, Samuel L. Jackson. To be in what we really thought was a revolution I mean people were dying 1968 the murder of Dr King which traumatized everyone The FBI had a role in the murder of a Black Panther leader in Chicago This story is about protest. It echoes in today's world far more than it should. And it will blow your mind. Listen to The A-Building on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, listeners. Micah, when I see my grandchildren and now my great-grandchildren, I tear up a little bit, realizing that there is so much to this life that we don't understand. but there's got to be one thing that we haven't talked about yet, and that is belief. There's got to be a system within humans where we simply believe. We don't question. We can't get the information. We've just talked about some of the loopholes, but you just have to believe, don't you? Well, belief is the absence of knowing. It's where you make the leap from there. You say, oh, I can't physically prove it, but I believe in this. That could be very powerful. That could be very good. It could also be extraordinarily dangerous. It's all about how you, again, it's your intentions and your actions. That is what. What have you concluded for yourself about what this is? uh well it has to do a lot of it has to do with what picasso said he said okay everybody comes to earth everybody has a gift so you got to find it and then you got to give it away i think it's just choosing love over fear and um it's also learning i mean we're born with a clean slate if we're born with memories of what happens after death and what happens with all this if we had these memories, then it would make life on earth, it would change it a little bit, wouldn't it? Because if we knew what was going to happen afterwards, then we can act however we want it to. You know, people can be difficult animals sometimes, and sometimes they need to be real good. And that's what I think these holy texts do a little bit, is they basically reel people in who otherwise wouldn't be able to do it on their own. But I think that, you know, the second you're born, you're born in a location, you're born to a religion, you're born to a skin color, an eye color, a height, a gender, you're born to all this stuff. And then you have this identity that you make up for yourself, and then you spend the rest of your life trying to defend it. And I think that that's kind of, that's missing the point. You know, is your soul, you know, Jewish or Catholic? Is that, is that what it is? Or, you know, and I feel like people in general have to start, there's a lot of negative out there. There's a lot of negative entities out there that basically We see stuff of negative emotions. And I think that through disclosure and through people understanding how the world actually works and who's behind the scenes, they will then be able to demand change. And that's kind of like what you're seeing with the Epstein thing going on right now a little bit, is people are refusing to let it go. And I think that's the right way. How do you explain miracles, Micah? I think miracles are just things that happen here that we just don't have an explanation for. Are they God-given? They can. You have a little hesitancy about yourself there. Yeah. How come? I wouldn't know if it's... Well, the thing about God is, you know, if everything is a part of God, then yes, it would be. but I think everything has a logical answer at the same time too. If you were to meet God face to face, one on one, what would you ask him? That is a great question and I don think I have an answer to that yet my question to him would be do you know how you got here do you exist do you know how this started for you and I bet he would not have an answer right and there may never be an answer that is true there are some that believe we live in a digital world that we're not real who knows what's going on right it kind of makes life's problems seem obsolete right in a way it really does when you look at the bitterness and the hatred and the horror stories I just had a story of a British Columbia shooting yesterday and this tragic kidnapping of an 84-year-old woman in Arizona. You stop and say, why? Why does this happen? Why is there so much hate? Right. You know what kind of planet we could build if we decided to just put our act together and live well? But at the same time, you have to understand is that the hate and the evil have to exist. Why? And it's all part within creation. In Isaiah 45, 7 in the Bible, I form the light and create the darkness. I make peace and create evil. I, the Lord, do all these things. They tell you right there. Do you believe in extraterrestrial life? I do, but I think it's one of two things. I think it's either us in the future coming back in time, or I think that it comes from the ocean. I don't think it comes from outer space. You don't think they're on other planetary systems? or millions and billions of other planets. True. Well, let me put it to you this way. The universe, supposedly, is... They tell us it's, what, 16 billion years old or 16.5 or something? 14 and a half. 14 and a half, right. And they tell you that across, it's 93 billion years. Well, if you do the math, one light year is about 5.5 trillion miles. So how does that work? I bet if you met an extraterrestrial and asked him the question of God, he would say the same thing we're always wondering. I don't have an answer. I think that's reasonable. It's probably one of those. I also think it's important not to lose yourself in questions that you may never get an answer to but it's fun probing isn't it yeah it is it definitely exercises your brain that's for sure it comes down to this enjoy your life be good to people and while you're still here make it work exactly I try to do that with this radio show every night I'm on the air I try to make it important for people to make their lives a little more comfortable a little easier a little knowledgeable until the next one and I've done that creed for 23 years with this program and God knows how long before that and it's working and talking to great people like you make it easier. Thank you. Well, you should be fulfilled by what you do. Listen to more Coast to Coast AM every weeknight at 1 a.m. Eastern and go to coasttocoastam.com for more.
