Justin Brane, founder of Epic Fit Network, discusses what separates visionaries from the general population, emphasizing the role of neurodiversity, emotional intelligence, and spiritual purpose. He explores how trauma, bankruptcy, depression, and anxiety serve as catalysts for visionary thinking, and argues that true visionaries balance high IQ with high EQ while operating from a place of service to humanity rather than ego.
Insights
- Visionaries are distinguished by four common experiences: bankruptcy/financial loss, depression, anxiety, and childhood trauma—which they reframe as catalysts rather than obstacles
- True visionaries possess both high IQ and high EQ; those with only high IQ become narcissistic leaders focused on metrics, while those with only high EQ lack execution capability
- 95% of visionaries Justin encounters have ADHD or autism spectrum diagnoses, suggesting neurodiversity is a feature, not a flaw, in visionary thinking
- The concept of 'social hypnosis' keeps most people (95%+) trapped in conventional thinking; breaking free requires conscious awareness and rejection of societal conditioning
- Visionaries think beyond their lifetime and focus on creating lasting impact for humanity rather than personal material gain or ego validation
Trends
Neurodiversity as competitive advantage: ADHD and autism spectrum traits increasingly recognized as drivers of innovation and visionary thinkingSpiritual purpose over material success: High-performing leaders shifting focus from revenue/metrics to inner healing, compassion, and legacy impactEQ as critical leadership differentiator: Emotional intelligence becoming as valued as IQ in identifying and developing transformational leadersRejection of 'social hypnosis': Growing movement among thought leaders to question societal conditioning and conventional success metricsTrauma-informed leadership: Reframing adversity (bankruptcy, depression, anxiety) as formative experiences that build resilience and visionary capacityGatekeeping by purpose: Exclusive networks and communities forming around shared spiritual/visionary values rather than traditional credentialsMentorship as continuous learning: Shift from top-down expertise to bidirectional learning in professional relationships and conversations

You're going to learn that today with the epic fit network founder Justin Brane, who when I first met him, I was intrigued. I was intrigued. I met Justin. Number one, because I could just see the wheels in your mind turning, turning. And I could see that you're thinking five steps ahead of everything we were talking about, which is great, but he was also very present. First of all, I encourage you all. Number one, to get to know Justin Brane, because he is highly connected. After one conversation, I was getting about 10 messages about what I should meet with. And that is a person after my own heart, because I believe relationships are the cornerstone of building success everywhere, including your personal relationships and your professional relationships. Justin asked that told me a lot about myself. This is after just having one conversation with him. He nailed me. He is so best with the Colby assessment, which I don't know. I think we should talk about as well. Justin, welcome. I really want to dive deep into what makes you tick. And what makes that brain tick? Because I bet this is not the first time you've heard this from somebody. Oh, thank you. Thank you. Mean's acknowledging the other person's humanity. So thank you. And people are born. They're given gifts from a higher power. And unfortunately, or sadly, most people have never been so I was given a gift to create connectivity and see the patterns in life. So I use it fully. There's a great book from the late Dr. Wayne Dyer, the great Dr. Wayne Dyer. He would always give big speeches and stuff, and you would read this quote before his speeches or doing shows like this or things like that. He would say, if you knew who walked beside you at all times, on this path that you have chosen, you could never experience fear or doubt again. Wait, what's unpacked that? What does that exactly mean? And how does that affect you and everybody around you? I think my role in life is to make people aware of what's happening, or at least the way I see it or talking to the world, so visionaries all day the way they see it. But I'm putting it by visionaries. And I'm sorry, I'm not meaning to interrupt you, but I think there's so much to unpack here. Everything, the visionaries you walk along, and I know you've been built by so many amazing human beings. One of them being Deepak Chopra, which he's an amazing visionary just to name a few. What does that mean to you? What does that mean to us? Yeah, thank you. And very grateful Dr. Chopra is doing the intro introduction for my next book, Epic Journey, It's Coming Up. Soon, very grateful for that. Most of the world is focused on outer material gain, ego driven, which is fine by the way. And then the true visionary realizes that it's an inner healing, inner compassion, inner worth, self love, surrendering to any outcome. And then I just most of my days talking to either the world's top visionaries, people like Dr. Chopra, Dr. Chopra, people like that, and they're just connecting them. So you see the patterns in it. And true visionary thinks well past their own lifetime, past their own lifetime, and then creating something that can help humanity, help them help humanity. It's a very lonely world at first because you're talking like this or feeling like this and people just stare at you. It's just stare. But the true visionary, they'll never give up talking like this. They'll just keep going. What I found in this journey in human years, I'm 47, 47 years old, that it took 45 to 46 years to really find the people. And now essentially they're finding me, they're just finding me. But it took a lifetime, first half of my life, really to find people. And now all these amazing things are happening and are about to happen just because you just never give up. And then you realize it's not about you. It's about honoring something greater than you. Wow. That's really powerful, Justin, because I think we get caught up every day in the what are we supposed to be doing every single day? Are we supposed to be making the lunches, making the breakfast, in laundry, finding that spouse or finding the relationship? And we forget about the bigger picture of our lives. Correct. I mean, that couldn't have said that better myself. Simple, if I had a great, and it's a really fascinating thing. I do a lot of reading, like two to three books a week. What book are you reading now? Right now, I'm telling soul. This one by Rick Rubin. That one's pretty good. Okay. This one is still confusing for me, for those who have read it great, but the way to confuse it. The R.A. contract? The raw contract. It's a raw contract. It's been got or something. It was too confusing. And then this is my company, but the company I helped start, but I do a lot of journaling. A lot of journaling. No, is that a journal? That's a beautiful journal. It is, yeah. So I do a lot of journaling. Where can I get that journal, by the way, because I need that? My wife, who wants to have, he could definitely send you. You could steer at the office. Wait, this is the craziest part where there is no such thing as coincidence, talking to Justin. Incidence means perfect alignment. So people use it for wrong. Yeah, they use it. Perfect alignment. I met Justin randomly and believe in randomness. Complete randomness. His wife is a pediatrician at my children's pediatrician office. Had no idea. This is total alignment. I mean, for whatever it's worth, that type of situation happens Monday through Friday, not as much on the weekends, because I don't have as many of these conversations on the weekend. But that type of situation happens Monday through Friday for me five to ten times, just by being in perfect alignment, perfect harmony with purpose. But there's a great quote from his name. I was Robert Johnson. He was a disciple of Carl Young and then Robert Johnson worked a lot on shadow behaviors. And I'm paraphrasing this quote. But for a select few, for a select few, there is a determination to seek liberation from social hypnosis. For a select few, there is a determination to seek liberation from social hypnosis. Wow. The world's condition with the word business means anxiety. That's what it means. The word sale means dull and dirty. Which means damage to a ship. Religion means to bind. Wait, what does religion mean? To bind. Yeah, it means to bind. Wow. Most of the, not all, no, I would say everyone I talked to was very spiritual. A few are religious, but most 100% are number spiritual. Just from what I've seen, a true visionary that doesn't honor a higher power where they think it's only about themselves. I haven't seen that. I haven't seen that. I haven't seen where they haven't honored something greater than them. Because if you really look at it, if they think it's really about them first, I don't necessarily think that's the formula for being a visionary. More of a narcissist in that case. Oh, wait. I love that idea. The difference between a narcissist and a visionary. I've never even really thought about that. Who would you say in your mind is a narcissist led leader versus a dream visionary? Without naming names. The true visionary has, they have both very high IQ and then very high EQ. So where you see the narcissism is the really high IQ folks with no EQ. So they're all logic numbers, scaling, revenue, employee count. We have to hit this mark, which by the way, it's fine. Those type of things employ a lot of people and help a lot of people. But the true visionary has, then I've seen, has both the high IQ and the high EQ. They have the heart, the emotional aspect as well. And then if there's the really high EQ with not the IQ, you see a lot of that in a street fair, people selling crystals or whatever that. By the way, that's fine. Hit me on the street. You get to be a true visionary. You have to have both because if you have the high IQ and you have the high EQ, you have both and you can mechanize the high EQ. Who means emotional quotient? Like you were. And of course, everybody knows what IQ is. I would say my IQ is medium, but I think my EQ is rather high. So where am I headed then, Justin? Oh, you're a peer visionary. And yeah, you're the, for whatever it's worth, the high IQ folks, they always joke about how they don't have IQ. But the, in the epic, in the epic journey book, all I do is talk to the lowest IQ of anyone I've talked to since COVID is 127. That's three points away from Mensa. So that's the lowest IQ. You mean to be in your circle, I have to have an IQ of... No, no, no, no, no. Okay. So like people, I've asked them what their IQ is and they knew it. That's the lowest. But I, you mean everyone I talk to basically is in the high of 130s because Mensa is 130. And then I talk to people outside of this world, but I don't ask their IQ because it doesn't, it's not a relevant question to what, what are kids are doing at a soccer game and remember to ask them what their IQ is. That would be really off putting if someone walked up to me at a soccer game and asked me why I'd do. Right. However, I, Justin, are you in Mensa? I feel like you are very, I have a very high IQ though. Oh, thanks. I appreciate that, but I don't need to or want to be in that. It's, it's, I'd rather, I spend my day talking to the world's smartest, most interesting, successful, fascinating people and then just created, created, own company where I don't run it because I would destroy it. I would destroy the backstage part of it. So I guess created on room where we can have these conversations on a collective level or everyone's a visionary because we won't let non-visionaries in. What about those people that feel that they are just stagnant or if somebody that is working the nine to five job and feels like they are meant for more and yet they don't know how to break free, they don't know how to be the visionary of their own life or do you think they people should be happy doing what they're doing? Oh, great. It's two different questions and I like that. No, not most people are not visionaries. Thank God everyone's a visionary. If you just asked her, life is about, again, life is about finding the gifts that you were given and then using them. Wow. I was just given this particular gift and I use it to help people, but it's true visionary, they won't stay in it. They won't stay in a job. They'll realize that they'll realize that something greater was meant for them or something will happen in that situation where it's because I just don't believe in randomness, things are meant to be. The life will align in a path that leads them to something like this, but to simplify everything's a pattern or things I've learned. There are only, oh, again, all I do is talk to visionaries and not business owners, not consultants, such as visionaries. I've seen there are only four things, not counting the silver spoons, silver spoons fundamentally different. I just introduced a dupe family member to a rocket-colored family member. The other day I thought that was fine. Then speaking on a yacht with the Hilton family, that'll be fine. That's a different discussion. Wait, slow your roll. You're going yachting with the Hilton family member. I'm speaking. I'm speaking, yeah, because the way I communicated things like that happened. Great. It's going in all the way. Well, listen, yes. Great, yes. I did just announce this, but one of the rocket-feller family members, who's my friend, we're starting some type of music initiative. It's talking to the producer for Lady Gaga, who's born this way to her yesterday, and he was advising us on this. He's a great guy. He is an end of year. What a great guy. I've introduced him to a lot of people. With all these people, there's all these people, not the silver spoons, but with visionaries, there are only four things that separate visionaries, or four things that separate visionaries from everyone else. Only four, then I've seen. One, bankruptcy or potential bankruptcy, two, depression, three, high-level of anxiety. You can imagine, and four trauma as a child or young adult. Vass majority of society, well over 95%. Those are excuses, visionary, figure it out. That's just what it is. Most damaged people with best coping skills, coping means to fight, coping, and those fighting skills in this world are high IQ and EQ. Okay. So I just want to re-wine a little bit. You said that for visionaries, there are four things, and I didn't catch that bankruptcy, depression, anxiety, trauma. Those are four things that indicate a vision. A great point. They take those and they use those to create things. Most of the world knows who. They see it as a catalyst for something else. Yes, the catalyst. And then... bankruptcy. And what's so funny, a lot of the people I talk to, they've all the visionaries, they say, I've lost all my money. But I came back. Of course. So here's the answer. The answer, the people already, the answers are here. There's just people aren't aware of them because they're stuck in social hypnosis conditioning, which by the way is fine. But for me, my role in life is to make people aware of that. And then if I have to partner with people like Dr. Deepak Trooper and go on Yacht's and talk about it, then that's what I have to do. And if I... It's a hard life. I understand what you're saying in that, but it is a hard life. It's very difficult being like this. What do you mean like this? Do you fascinate me as I'm just observing you? You fascinate me and how your brain works? The hardest leading all of this. Are you in a zone right now in your zone of genius? And you're not... I'm not saying you're not focused on me, but like you're in another kind of... Yeah, I'm putting it. Yeah, that's a great end. I really appreciate these questions because... I think you said it at the start. Like I was five steps ahead, but in the present. So most people can't do that. They can't. Most people can't multitask. So like during a call... I'm not going to do it now because this is being recorded, but like during a call like this, if it's not being recorded, I'll just start doing the interest of people like in real time. People like, how do you do that? That's what you did to me, with me. Yeah, so most people can't... They're not... They can't do that. They have to... Is that ADHD? Do you have ADHD? I'm diagnosed, I'm diagnosed. So again, let leads into the next thing that I've seen for visionaries. I've only seen four types or whatever you want. 95% of the people I talk to are ADD, Diagnostra, and Diagnost. Nod disorder, sign a genius mislabeled by humans. Humans don't understand visionaries. They just stare. We just find two is autism, Asperger's. My wife is a doctor. She's unofficially diagnosed with that. The really smart visionaries I talk to, most of them have both ADD and Asperger that are autism. I've got to say. Really? It's like the 30% visionaries are just like sick. We were just done earlier this year on the Mechor Island, the Surveyor Branson for a week. That was fun. He's very dyslexic. Oh man, very... And then four, again, they have to have both high IQ and EQ, like both of them. Wow. So whatever you want to call it, spectrum, neurodivergent, whatever lably... Yeah, because I don't know how to say it. A regular human can't be like this. They're not like this, which is fine. Thank God. Thank God. No, but you're so super special. I... Well, not in a short bus way, but like you're so super special. You're going to tell my fraternity brothers that. They're going to laugh at that. That you're super special. Yeah. But I mean, there is something so different and unique about you that I can't really... There's different and unique things about everyone, but most people are afraid to actually show it. And it's a beautiful brain. And I love that. People's giving parents the respite or something to calm their nerves to say that most of the visionaries you meet have ADHD, they're on the spectrum, they have dyslexia, because we worry so much. Why aren't we as parents celebrating these differences of our brain? You're afraid to break free of social diagnosis, can you? You've been conditioned. Social hypnosis. Define that because you've mentioned that. You're just hypnotized with, oh, there's something wrong with my child. That's just complete bullshit. Okay. So the... I can't ask your wife this because she's not here, but she has to diagnose these things with children or tell parents it's all going to be okay. Actually, it's a gift. My wife would have... You would have a relative... I'm not speaking for my wife, but she's the opposite personality as me. I would... So she's stability rules, calendar items, which is... That's good for a pediatrician. I would think that's good. Heck yeah, especially with my pediatrician. Right. And she runs the company. The company... You're both driven though. You're both driven. Ponder. Yeah. She's driven and so she's driven and this is great. She's driven by family leadership, growth of company. And I'm driven by like sheer spiritual purpose. My wife is not driven for mass humanity, which is fine. That's fine. Focus on family and family and company. And then I'm just like... Like it's beyond a community or... How do you parent with this kind of... Me? You have a beautiful brain and I actually... Oh, I know. No, I don't... Don't parent. My advice to the children is felony bad, misdemeanor, misdemeanor, okay. That's my entire parent. I don't care why. Wow. I want to be your kid, man. I'm going to... I can open a cult 45 when I'm pulking your cough. There you go. There you go. There it is. The Justin's moving around his office. He's got a lot of them. Yes, it's an office. The prophet. It's the good one. Him on 1923. This is the best... This is the best parenting for... Here we go. What is the call? Because this is audio. The prophet. Yeah, this is a classic cult, leo gibrah. Okay. All right. This is about parenting or having children. Okay. Here we're going. Goodbye. That's it. I think it's good. You may give them your love but not your thoughts for their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls. Or their souls dwell in their house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you for life goes not backward or terries with yesterday. I don't really tell them what to do at all. I then don't commit a felony because if you do, you ruin your life doing that. Yeah, that's for her. Good advice. What about grades? Do you focus on grades? Or are you just sort of like... Me personally, I don't care if they go to college at all. I'm sure they will. Full disclosure. I had a full academic scholarship at the college. Like I got a... Where'd you go and what do you study? Illinois University of Illinois Journalism. Oh, I'm Indiana Journalism. Yes, the... You knew that. So my father was 61. When I was born and he was World War II hero. Holy cow, 61. Were you the first? Where were you and the... Only? First is three. He was 64 when my youngest brother... Oh, oh, yes. So he is a World War II hero. Your mom was younger. I'm only 24. You're 34, you're 34, you're different. She was 27? 34. Yes, so she's still alive. He's not obviously... Yes, so people talk about ages with her. I'm not so left. Because it's nice fun. But, oh, military hero. I have his diary from battle of her converse toward Ender World War II. And then he became attorney in Nuremberg, Nazi war crime trials. He was a genius. And my mom's a genius too. In a different way. She's like a seer. It's really interesting. So our youngest son, Chase, who's 10, he was like... And he's serious. This is not a joke. He's dead. I want to be an army ranger, Green Bray. I'm like, great. Because what if I die in battle? Oh, then you were meant to die in battle. So there was no... Now my wife wouldn't say that or think that. But that's what I... That's just... That's the type of parenting, if you want to call that. And then in terms of living body death, I'm not worried about that at all. Like, you're meant to die when you're meant to die. But the consciousness part, that's a far more concerned, creating something that... Like, this book, this book, the prophet, this is going to be in the 1930s, that didn't really die. That one... And he died or died. But he didn't really die. His books are still out there. So that's far more important to me than living body death. And any true visionary, they would agree with that. A true visionary. How could just the ordinary person listening right now, who has ideas, who feels like they're a visionary, how can they tap into this? It's fair question. Ideas to me are totally meaningless without action and investment. Like, it's meaningless. And it has nothing to do with building a company or anything. It's just, if you're talking about doing something, then do it. So if you want to run the... Want to join the PTO, which I did that, that wasn't a good idea, but I did it. Or maybe... When you question, I can't imagine you walking into a PTO meeting and people are like, what? The what? Yeah. It didn't go well. I did it. And I talked about doing it, and then I did it, and then I realized it wasn't good. So I left it. But the point is... And then I did running the school book fair. That was fun. I did enjoy that. Oh, you're so cute. Yeah, that was... That was interesting. But no, so if you're going to talk about doing something, then just do it. You don't have to go on a yacht and speak. I don't even want to do that. But that's just part of what I... It's part of what I'm supposed to do. That's part of raising the awareness. But no, I mean, don't talk about doing it. And then too, on that, most of the world, again, this is just how it is. They overthink everything, and then they never actually do anything. Are they live in fear, afraid to actually invest in something or write the check to do it? I don't live... I'm the opposite of that. Just like, okay. Okay. If you have that feeling, you invest in something or invest... 100%. Oh, great, great. The best assessment I've seen for that is called working genius. You know the website, because I want to put all... Working genius.com, I think. I think it's working genius. So the end, most of the people I... Not all, but most of them are like inventor or wonder, so they're idea. Yeah. Okay, so I'm not like that. I'm discernment galvanized. Discrement galvanized. So what does that mean? Because you're going to ask what that means. You're going to want to impact it, which is good. That's discernment. It means almost everyone I talk to is ADD. They just ramble. And then 1000 things, maybe one will be really good. So I hear blah, blah, blah, blah. And I go, oh, that's good. Galvanized. And so what that means is, and it's an intuitive activator. Pure gut intuition, that's what to do. Do it. Don't overthink it. That's what they do it. And they just do it. Very simple. That's how I operate, too. I go with my gut. I have learned a lot of lessons, though, by just going with my gut, because I believe in people that don't believe in themselves. And that's where I get into a thermal Justin. I don't. Yep. That's the... I don't do that anymore. But I think very good. Yeah. So one, I not only do, I not do that. I can't do that because it takes away my actual purpose of helping demand a deep, because if I concentrate on people, that's why some of these questions are hard for me to answer, because I don't live in the, I guess, tech and gladio, the PTO or Book Fair World, but it's a, it doesn't, or that's Hugh soccer world, which I go to games and stuff. But that doesn't serve my purpose on a collective macro level. It takes away my energy. Had a really good conversation with Fernando Garibay about this, the lady guy got producer from Borough this way, and then he's doing a million things. He's a genius. He's a different level genius. And he correctly said that if you had the wrong conversation, it actually damages your brain. You have to be very careful about protecting your energy. So I'm very aware of that. And it's not to be rude or dismissive or any of that. It's actually to create peace, because if I actually am doing what I'm supposed to be doing, that actually can help the most people. That actually can help the most people on a macro level. And that's what this book partnership with Dr. Deapak Chopra is, and then speaking on these things. And because it's really all these talks and what it'll be is about self-love and compassion for yourself and others. And so if I can do, when I do that on a global level, I'm speaking all over the world next year, then that helps the most people. That helps the most people. And that's why I'm here. That's the gift I was given from a higher power. That is your zone of genius. And I think it must have taken, you mentioned that earlier, years and years, understand how to actualize and maximize your zone of genius, because I see so many people. Still learning. Every day, one of my friends got there and every meeting is an opportunity for mentorship. What does that mean? I learn something every time I talk to someone and hopefully they learn something as well. Hopefully they learn something as well. And then you're always evolving. Just listening to this video, because I was running and listening to the video. And it's like an archeological dig, digging through all this dirt and crap and all that stuff. Like 98% of it's just dirt, you just see. And then 2% is like the actual gem, the nuggets, the actual civilization under there. But you got to do a lot of digging. And then you just keep digging and then you find another treasure. And for me, it's always, it's just fun to endlessly dig and find all these things. And then through reading books and journaling and having these conversations, conscious conversations, convert to capital, community and collaboration. So it's raising consciousness through all these conversations. So your earlier point, if people can't keep up, that's not my responsibility. It's not. It's their responsibility. I'm not responsible for all of these. I love that. And I see how you're changing the world. I see you are on such a different plane than a lot of people, the sleepwalking masses. Oh, they're hypnotized. Yeah. And I actually, having this conversation, I would love to invite you back on again just to talk about just social hypnosis because I think we're all just going through the motions. And even I, and you have to be so purposeful about doing this, tell us a little bit about how we can reach out to you. I'm going to put everything about Justin, Brain, Epic Fit Network, everything about him in the show notes. He's fascinating. He has a beautiful brain. He is an author. He's a visionary changing the world. I can't even tell you. I don't think we can even quantify this into one episode. So hopefully I didn't screw anything up and hold it again. Oh, it is in a good way. You slow me down a little bit, which I'm grateful for, which helps me learn more about myself to help more people. So thank you for that. But the main way the site is epicfit.com, the epicfit.com. And there's a forum at the bottom if you want to. It's invite only. You can apply it to join it. And then it goes to my wife and her assistant and our membership. So I don't do any of the backstage stuff, but you can go to that site and see what we're doing. It's a lot of fun. Could you even imagine if Justin was doing the backstage stuff? I think I read somewhere. You can barely hold a pencil or. Yeah. Here's how I hold that. He can see. So this is how I hold it. I know it's a bit, but I can't. I don't know how to do it. And then the kids are old enough now. They're old enough now. You're like, Dad. You're like, Dad. I'm all wrong. Yeah. And then they're like, Dad, can you put on my bike helmet or teach me how to ride a bike? No. Sorry. Get a neighbor to do that one. Oh my gosh. Yeah. It's been a good night. Yeah. But we destroyed the house. We play football in the house and jump across the room. Like things that a child can do. I'm not. Not only can I not do it. I won't. It's fascinating to you. And before I know this is just an extra question, but it must be fascinating for you to see the development of your children's brains and how they are becoming visionaries in their own right. Oh, great. Great. I've learned more from them than they have for me. So I said, yes, it's hard being hard being a dad. And then I said, being a good dad means giving your kids the freedom to have the ability to ask questions like, what is being a good dad? So that's. You're doing something good, Mr. Brain. Take all. All right. Take all credit. Give my credit. All the credit to her. If it was just me, it would be very bad. At least I had at least yourself where. Oh, very well. Well, that's the other thing being self, you gotta be self aware at first. You can't be aware of anything. Not only yourself. Yeah, that's true. No growth without self awareness. Justin, I'm so grateful for you. Everybody check out Justin. There's so I'm putting tons of links in the show notes. And hopefully you'll come back on again, because I think we're only scratching the surface. Thank you, Justin. Appreciate you. Thank you for listening to another episode of Obsessed.
