Summary

This episode is a Catholic rosary meditation centered on the Gospel story of the woman caught in adultery, emphasizing that past sins do not define one's future. The hosts discuss how Jesus offers mercy and forgiveness to all, regardless of their past, and encourage regular confession and examination of conscience as transformative spiritual practices.

Insights
  • Regular confession and examination of conscience create accountability structures that measurably improve personal behavior and spiritual growth
  • Past mistakes are not predictive of future potential; transformation is available to anyone willing to engage with spiritual practices
  • Structured spiritual disciplines (daily meditation, weekly confession, regular examination) compound over time to create lasting personal change
  • The concept of 'before and after' applies universally—even biblical figures like Peter, Matthew, and Mary Magdalene had significant past failures before their spiritual transformation
Trends
Growing interest in structured daily spiritual practices among Catholic audiences seeking personal transformationEmphasis on sacramental confession as a practical tool for behavioral change and self-awareness, not just religious obligationIntegration of accountability mechanisms (weekly confession deadlines) into personal development frameworksFocus on mercy and redemption narratives in religious content, particularly appealing to audiences with complex personal histories

Welcome to our daily rosary meditation. Let's begin in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for. I believe in God, the Father, Almighty Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day, He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. O my Jesus. Forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our first mystery. At daybreak in Jerusalem, Jesus appeared in the temple. As the people gathered around him, he sat down and began to teach them. The scribes and Pharisees brought before him a woman caught in the very act of adultery. Making her stand there in full view of everyone, they said, Master, this woman was caught in the very act. The law of Moses commands us to stone such women. What do you say? Now they said this to test him, looking for something to use against him. But Jesus bent down and began riding on the ground with his finger. When they kept pressing him, he looked up and said, Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her. Then he bent down and continued riding on the ground. One by one, beginning with the eldest, they walked away, until Jesus was left alone with the woman standing there. He looked up and said to her, Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? No one, sir. Neither do I condemn you. Go now and do not sin again.mt of sin Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, as now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Oh my Jesus. Forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our second mystery. Most of us have a checkered past, one filled with sin, even grave sin. So we're not so very different from the woman caught in adultery, are we? And like this woman, Jesus comes to us before we deserve his goodness. He meets us at our worst, right when we need him the most. He's there, offering mercy, ready to forgive, if we will receive it. Jesus and Mary came into my life when I was very far from good In fact they came when I was at my worst And from that moment on nothing been the same But every follower of Jesus has a not-so-great before. Peter, the impulsive fisherman. Matthew, the tax collector, Roman collaborator, and traitor to the Jewish nation. Mary Magdalene, possessed by seven demons. I mean, what do you got to do to become possessed by seven demons? And the woman caught in adultery. God calls us in our before. When we're blind to how broken we really are. and then he invites us into an amazing after. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in her hands now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in her hands now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit. thy womb Jesus Holy Mary Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death amen Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee blessed art thou among women blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus Holy Mary Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death amen Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with the blessed art thou among women blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus holy Mary Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, as now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Oh my Jesus. Forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our third mystery. We just finished walking through the Old Testament. The Jews had been so bad that their nation was destroyed and they were taken captive and exiled in Babylon. But that's precisely when God came to meet them through the prophet Isaiah, who told rebellious Israel, I have called you by name. You are mine. Now, when he said that to them, they weren't being very faithful. In fact, they were resisting God, rejecting his love. But God didn't turn away. He showed mercy. He spoke love over them. He claimed them before they ever claimed him. He entered into their before and then transformed their future. And the same is true for us. Our past choices cannot cancel God's future for us. And what we see in the mirror today doesn't define what God sees or what His grace will do in the future. Our brokenness can't stop His plans, neither can our circumstances, nor other people. So we have nothing to fear and everything to hope for. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death Amen Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee Blessed art thou among women blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus Holy Mary Mother of God pray for our sinners now and at the hour of our death Amen Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for our sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed art Thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in her ends, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed art Thou among women. Blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in her ends, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, as now and ever shall be. World without end. Amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our fourth mystery. Everyone, except Mary and maybe Joseph, has a checkered before and a glorious after. Peter betrayed Jesus and then became the first pope and died a martyr. Matthew, the thieving tax collector, became an apostle, a gospel writer, and a martyr. Mary Magdalene once filled with demons was the first witness to the resurrection and was the one who brought Christianity to France Jesus is not hung up on your before all he's interested in is your now Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our fifth mystery. We don't know what happened to that woman after Jesus forgave her. I'm willing to bet her life was radically different after. if you want to put your past to rest go to confession this Lent go to confession before Easter now if you're thinking I go to confession, I go regularly and it's not having that big of impact then beg the Holy Spirit to show you convict you and then dig a little deeper look a little harder be a little bit more honest in your confession and Jesus will do to you what he did to that woman in the gospel Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. So what did this meditation make you think about? Hmm. the tremendous power of going to confession regularly i've mentioned before i have the most wonderful pastor in my parish and he's extremely sacrificial and generous and i he's willing to hear my confession every week so every thursday morning right after early mass he's ready to hear my confession which means oh shoot every week it rolls around i gotta be ready because i don't want to show up and just have nothing to say yeah because then i'm wasting he's made a sacrifice for you he's made a sacrifice and i don't want to waste his time which means i gotta be on my game i gotta be prepared which means i can't wait until thursday morning which gets me being more serious and more regular about my examination of conscience this is the beauty of how deadlines affect us all yeah when we know that this is no matter what an unchangeable thing that's going to happen every week. It changes everything about how our week goes. Yeah. But also what a good representation of the love of Christ. Yeah. You know, he's made this big sacrifice for you. We better be kind of ready for him. That's right. That's right. And the more regularly, this is not rocket science, the more regularly I ask the Holy Spirit to really show me my sins. He actually does, which is very humbling. And then I see more clearly so that I can go to confession more honestly. And the grace affects me more. So I actually, it actually makes me a better person. Regular examination of conscience and regular confession actually makes me a better person. Isn't that crazy? that's the power of Jesus in the sacrament. What were you thinking about? I was still thinking about our last meditation, so I had no thoughts to add to this one. Yeah, on friendship? What were you thinking about with regard to friendship? Because this whole deal is about friendship with Jesus and friendship with others. Well, I've realized, I think, with our meditations, because we do them two back to back every single day. It's easy for me to talk about the resolution and then talk about the next resolution and throw away the first resolution and then be thinking about the second one for the rest of the day. So I was just thinking about my personal life and what I've got coming up in my week and how I'm actually going to apply that and then praying for those people and for those conversations and that, not that they're, I have no big scary conversations coming up, but just praying that I'll actually use that, those moments well. So I was trying to cement my resolution. It is tremendously powerful, this formula. Daily meditation, a resolution, examination of conscience, and regular confession. Do that. You might actually change. You might actually change. your past doesn't matter but your future does thanks for the conversation thank you and let's be apostles of friendship good conversation and the rosary share this with others
