Greetings and happy holidays. Merry Christmas everybody. It is that magical holiday season that we all love so much and no matter where in the world you're celebrating, I hope that it is a blessed and fruitful holiday season where you can spend lots of time with your family, friends and loved ones and of course those furry friends that helped to make life so much better. For your holiday gift this year, I decided that I might go ahead and offer you a poem. So if you will indulge me this, I would like to present for your listening pleasure, Twas the night before middle school break. With love from me and Steve. When out in the hallway arose such a clatter that I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter. Away to the door I flew like a flash, tore it open to find kids trading Pokemon cards with cash. The flickering lights in the dimly lit hall gave the atmosphere of an eerie dramatic sprawl. When what to my tired eyes should appear but a group of students with backpacks full of cheer. Apologies and excuses they came one by one explaining how their homework was never done. More rapid than eagles their reasons they came and I sighed and I groaned and I called them by name. Now Nico, now Carson, now Sarah and Mike, on Alex, on Sophie, on Jake and Tyche. To the front of the class, to the back of the wall, now dash away, dash away, dash away all. As the leaves that before the wild hurricane fly and when they meet with an obstacle mount to the sky. So up to the front the students they flew with excuses and late passes and apologies too. Then in a twinkling I heard by the door the principal knocking and I sighed, oh what for. I drew in my patience and turned around and down the hallway St. Principal came with a frown. He was dressed in a suit from his head to his shoe and his tie was adjusted as if or on cue. A bundle of memos he had in his hand and he looked like a boss with demands to command. His eyes how they squinted, his tone how demanding, his speech was so rapid it was almost commanding. He spoke not a word that brought holiday cheer just reminders of meetings and budgets to clear. And laying a finger aside of his desk and giving a nod to his office he crept. He sprang to the door to his team gave a whistle and all they went like a bunch of missiles. But I heard him exclaim as he walked out of sight, happy holidays to all and to all you teachers, a quiet night. Merry Christmas and happy holidays everybody. Love ya.
