Who? Weekly hosts Bobby Finger and Lindsey Wepper discuss celebrity news from the Grammy Awards and beyond, including Pentatonix's elaborate gender reveal music video, casting controversies around the film adaptation of 'Deep Cuts,' and various celebrity relationship updates.
Insights
- Gender reveal content has evolved into high-production-value entertainment that blurs the line between earnest celebration and self-aware parody, reflecting progressive values while embracing traditional tropes
- Casting controversies in film adaptations are increasingly driven by organized industry response rather than isolated fan complaints, as evidenced by open letters from established Latino actors and directors
- Celebrity relationship dynamics are heavily influenced by lifestyle compatibility and career trajectory alignment, with geographic distance and differing life priorities emerging as key breakup factors
- High-profile individuals strategically use tabloid relationships to maintain press coverage and business promotion, viewing media engagement as transactional rather than adversarial
- Nepo baby casting decisions face heightened scrutiny when they involve cultural representation, particularly when actors lack awareness of source material context

welcome to who weekly the podcast where you'll learn everything you need to know about the celebrities you don't i'm bobby finger i'm lindsey wepper and the grammys were last night we watched the grammys there were a lot of who we think's happening at the grammys last night name one lola young winning which was awesome i don't know what i'm gonna say because i don't have any speech prepared obviously i don't it's messy do you know i mean uh i don't know what to say thank you so much obviously you can tell by my fucking sorry sorry sorry my face that i'm very very grateful for this nick we did it i love you i love you everybody everybody everybody joy via showing up with, she usually wears a statement dress that offends me. And last night, she just wore one that said Scientology kills. And I was sort of like, I'll allow it. She had a disgusting pink fur coat with all the names of different dead Scientology, former Scientology members. She really, this one was very, what am I thinking, homeland. It had a It had a lot of secret messages and notes. It's Carrie's wall. And if you notice, her jumpsuit is blue, like the blue building in L.A. that says Scientology kills across her breath. Oh, wow. I didn't even think of that connection. Wow. There's layers. There's layers. Who this woman is, I'll never remember. It's hilarious to me that she still gets the invite. She must be doing something right in music. I think she started as a singer. She's famous because she was like, I think she was known mostly for being like an aspiring singer, but she's mostly known for showing up to the Grammys for the past 10 years dressed weird. That's true. The other thing that debuted at the Grammys, she didn't debut. That's actually not a good statement. The other thing that gagged us at the Grammys was Pop Crave's stun cam. I'm not sure if you saw that, but the reaction to the glam bot, Pop Crave said, we will be also taking weird photos with an iPhone and call it a stun cam. It's like the Joseph Kahn quote where he was like, anyone can make one, just grab an iPhone. And Pop Crave said, hold my phone. You know, like they were like, we'll do it. They said, hold my iPhone 17 or whatever. We can do this too. I just love the time, you know, because he wasn't there last night. They did the glam bop, but Cole Schaefer wasn't there. Cole Schaefer? What's his name? Cole Walliser. Cole Schaefer is Casey Musgraves' ex-boyfriend. Oh my God, where is he? I hope he's well. Where is that guy? He's still sending newsletters because I never unsubscribed. Stop, really? Is he still doing his crazy freeform writing about how wildlife is a free writer? It's all about copywriting. Here's a thing that David Ogilvie once said in 1972, and it's like, yeah, you've already quoted that one. He still is sending it. Damn. It's one of the great bag fumbles of all time, Cole Schaefer and Casey Musgraves. I know. I know. Okay, so not Cole Schaefer. Cole Walliser was not running the glam bot last night, and Pop Crave took advantage by saying, we'll do our own unproblematic stun cam. So smart. Not as kind of catchy as the bot of it all, but stun cam, sure, whatever they debuted it. And they got a significant amount of people to do the stun cam. All who's, though, but they got them. It didn't look as great as glam bot. No, it didn't. Obviously, it didn't. It looked a little budget, but I appreciated the effort, you know? It's kind of a smooth, slow zoom in and then a little fast, you know? Right? But clearly from an iPhone. Like, clearly I could do this. What else? Addison Rae shares playful pika for underwear on the Grammys' 2026 red carpet. Incredible. It's the first thing you said to me when I sat down at the Grammys watch, where you said, did you see Addison Rae share the playful pika for underwear? Yeah, I said, that's fun. I said, okay. and just Jared said, we will be writing this into the full thing. But we didn't know that during her iconic performance in the Kia Asylum underneath the Grammy stage. She started at the asylum. She started in the basement and then they went up. They, I thought everyone was gonna have to be in the basement. Little did I know it was just Addison that had to stay in the basement. They said, we need someone to start in the basement and then we'll move. We'll elevate up. And she said, I'll do it. She said, I'll go in the basement. No problem. Put me on the back of the truck. I'll go in the basement. It transitioned to Katzai who started in the basement and then they went out of the the stage. I just think they knew that the audience, the live audience, would not know what to do with Addison. They said, we need to have her beaming in from somewhere else, because if she's on that stage, this audience, they will not be able to handle what she's putting out. And they didn't. And they didn't. Olivia Dean did win that category, though, as expected. Yeah. Well, and she got to perform on the actual stage. She was in the asylum. She broke out of the asylum. I said this to you last night, but if Olivia Dean is even remotely good at acting. She's going to get, like, a movie where she sings. I don't really believe, I don't really, like, buy into this. You just think she's really pretty. That's fine. She's movie, she looks like a movie star. Yeah, so is Addison Rae. No, but she doesn't look like a movie star. She's the one, or he's the one, or whatever. I think she looks like a movie star. I think there's something, there's something to Olivia where I'm like, she's going to be an actor. Darren Criss mispronounced you sexual. How did he say it? Like, he tried to, he tried to make it French somehow. He was like, Yushua or something. Honestly, like, I don't know how to pronounce it either, but I am not presenting at the other Grammys, the lead up to the Grammys, the Grammys pre-show. I would learn how to pronounce all the things I had to learn to pronounce if that was my job, you know? Let's hear him say Yusexua because it's quite fun. And the Grammy goes to... Yuxua, F-K-A, Twigs. Did I say that right? So sorry if I got that wrong. Yuxua. he knew he knew it was wrong the minute he was going for it he said here we go if the words got sex in it you gotta say the sex i'm like that's crazy to me that he saw and he said oh you zoea it's like it's like he didn't notice the sex right it's right i'd say eu i if anything i'd fuck this up i'd be like eu sex you uh and i would i would also sound stupid but i also would not fuck this up because i would ask how to pronounce it before i gave it the award and the other hooey thing that happened last night was the reveal this is not related to the grammys was the reveal that connor's story is going to host saturday night live this month the turnaround is it's whiplash it always scares it scares me it always makes me think of lana too much too soon i hope this is okay it's such a burden it's such a burden but i do love all the people kind of gagging who don't even watch snl like you won't even watch this to completion babes like okay and it's mumford and sons alongside him as the musical guest perfect perfect he gets to go mumford and sons and now mumford and sons you can practice that i will never forget for as long as i live speaking of ladies and gentlemen mumford and sons for as long as i live when we saw snl and speaking of mispronouncing things jake gyllenhaal the king that he is the legend that he is camilla rehearsing her name before the cameras went on and we had a front row seat to jake gyllenhaal yeah quietly practicing camilla cabello camilla well guess what that's a professional that's a professional jake gyllenhaal said i will be pronouncing this like a little bit closer to the right pronunciation you know once again camilla cabello ladies and gentlemen mumfard and son ladies and gentlemen the weekend enough about last night let's move on to the actual show aliyah baldwin was arrested for one of the funniest crimes so bleak everyone's like talk about share talk about the songs anything best new artist what would you like to talk about we're like bad bunny one it's like no no no no wrong show yeah aliyah baldwin was arrested last year let's here's the story aliyah Baldwin was arrested last year and is now being prosecuted, like in court. That's like what the story is. This is actually relevant to yesterday's show because she's Haley Baldwin's sister. She's a Stephen Baldwin Baldwin. Who is Justin Bieber's wife. Yes, who performed at the Grammys while his wife watched on Lovingly and he sang a song about her. Her sister, Justin Bieber's sister-in-law, Aliyah Baldwin, a.k.a. Stephen's other daughter, was arrested like last year or two years ago for fighting at the bar she threw she threw a she grabbed some scalp she threw a tampon and grabbed some scalp not her own someone else's in atlanta and i thought this was funny because i'm kind of like oh did she do this so long ago and they're just it's like no she's literally uh she's 30 something years old and she did it last year sorry it's savannah i said atlanta it was in savannah partying in savannah in the court doc The prosecutors claim Arano, whose parents are actor Stephen Baldwin, that's her married name, whose parents are actor Stephen Baldwin and Kenya Baldwin, threw a tampon at said victim, which they consider to be simple assault. In addition, Arano allegedly removed, quote, a portion of hair from the scalp of Ian O'Neill by pulling said victim's hair, contrary to the laws of the state of Georgia. Contrary. Contrary to the laws. You're not supposed to do that. Contrary to the laws. Contrary to the laws, you're really not supposed to throw a tampon at someone. It's funny because, am I crazy? I don't think I've ever heard of this woman in my life. I've never seen her name. I've never seen her photo. I've never seen anything she does. I mean, why would you? I mean, because she's a Baldwin. She just really hasn't made herself known to me. Yeah, but she's a Stephen Baldwin. She's not an Alec Baldwin. We know about Haley Baldwin years and years and years ago. She's the first topic we ever talked about on Who Weekly. Yeah, but why would we ever know about her siblings is what I'm saying. She's an influencer. She's an endometriosis influencer. She's like an advocate for endometriosis. He's talking about the sister. Yes, the sister. Endometriosis awareness and PCOS awareness. I guess maybe it just never hit my algorithm. You know, that makes sense. I don't know how this would ever come near you. I'm just saying. She's not like in worlds that you deal with. You're not like, you're not in the world of endometriosis awareness. And you're not like looking up the siblings, the Stephen Baldwin adjacent siblings of Hayley Bieber, you know? I did find, I'm glad you or Timmy put this in here just to read too much into something because this is a podcast. There's a photo that she posted some years ago, I think before the pandemic, yes, 2019 of her and Ireland Baldwin, her half-sister, because her mom is, actually no, her cousin, not even half-sister, Alec and Kim Basinger's daughter. And that's her best friend in the family. And calling her my main main says a lot to me. Well, so when she got married, her bridesmaids included Haley and Ireland. She's tight with Ireland. The other fun thing about her is that Christy Brinkley introduced her to her husband. Wow. I know. Wow. She has Christy Brinkley to thank. Moving on. We're done? We're done. Anyway, she probably won't have to go to jail. That's my guess. I don't know. She'll pay a lot for throwing a tampon and grabbing the hair off of someone in a Savannah bar. Moving on. What's this? What's this? Do we really? I mean, do we really? What's this? The Odessa thing? Where are we at with this person? I do feel like we're kind of like... I was surprised that she backed out. Because this I had seen on our Who Weekly Twitter feed for days and days and days. The outrage over this. I'd never heard of this book. I didn't know about this casting. And I was sort of like, what is she going to do? So there was this book called Deep Cuts that was written by someone named Holly Brickley. It's pretty popular. It came out this past year. It was immediately really talked about. I didn't think it was that good. I wasn't kind of like, I read it. I was like, okay. Yeah, of course. And I was like, okay. But it got immediately a lot of attention. It just really was kind of like somehow in the conversation. And it immediately got adapted or, sorry, purchased for adaptation or whatever you're calling it. Yeah. And cast. It was announced that this book was going to be adapted into a movie directed by Sean Durkin, who was, he made The Iron Claw. He made that great Carrie Coon movie that I feel like people don't talk about enough. The Nest. The Nest. Amazing movie. And it was his next project, kind of like a hot indie director. And people were excited. Then the casting started. Drew Starkey gets cast. Hot guy. It was Caley Spaney at first. Kaylee Spaney, who would have, when we get to it, the same issues that Odessa Azayan has. But no one said anything about Kaylee Spaney because people are already eyes on Odessa Azayan for when they watched her in I Love LA, they were like, that girl is really giving. I'm maybe Hispanic. I'm really in my style, and I'm really tan, and blah, blah, blah. And then they were like, oh, she's not. She's not. No. She's a white woman. Nepo Baby 2, child of Pamela Adlon. Yeah. Yeah, well, in the weirdest turn of events, she changed her last name to Zion at some point in the past history. And I feel like now that's kind of a weird decision to have made. But whatever. She's sticking with it. She's Pamela Adlon's daughter. She was in Marty Supreme as well, had minor Oscar buzz. I think there was a contingent of people that thought that she might land a nomination somewhere for supporting actors. I think everyone thought she was great in Marty Supreme. I think it's just the I love L.A. of it all was kind of like people were like, oh, she's good in this. But like, what's she doing? You know? So she gets cast as one of the characters in the novel. In the novel, the character is half Jewish and half Mexican. So the fans of the novel were instantly like, what's this white lady doing cast as a woman who is like explicitly half Mexican in this book? There's like commentary online about it. And then the Kaylee Spaney thing comes up. It's like, first it was Kaylee Spaney and then they replaced her with another white girl. That's weird. I saw the chatter about this and really was sort of wondering, okay, what's she going to do here? Because I feel like this would be a bad idea. But I was still surprised when she put on her Instagram stories, fuck that, I'm out. I guess she didn't read it. I think she says she had never read the book and she didn't know about the character. And also she says that she auditioned for another character and they cast her in this one. somebody DM'd the writer and said like I'm just wondering if if the if Zoe's character will be remaining Latina or the characters will be rewritten and the writer said surely it will be rewritten which happens all the time for the record in the book she's half Jewish and half Mexican but in the script it's not specified I have nothing to do with casting so okay let's give a little bit of a benefit of the doubt here she was given a script where there was nothing specified in it she hadn't read the book yet she read the script she signed on to do it via the script a lot of actors do not read the book They do not They don because a lot of changes are made when things are adapted so the book might not be as relevant to the actor who auditioning for the role so she gets the script it doesn't say anything and then all of a sudden after her name is put out there in the trades that she is like signed on to do this character people start telling her hey in the book fyi this person is not white and then the backlash happens and then it starts to and know this is different from like the scarlett johansson of it all which i think is way more egregious i'm just like this to me is so much less egregious like i get it i understand what we're doing here and we're already a little bit mad at her so we're kind of like just really jumping off of that yeah but the scarlett johansson thing is like you know it just was way worse right so the scarlett johansson thing you don't have to read a book to know your character wasn't white you don't have to read a book to know that you're playing an asian woman you know exactly exactly And it was like a very famous genre thing that had been adapted, like very, you know, very specific. This is less specific. This is a new book. You know what I mean? So just like this one, I feel a little bit less like she's apologizing and I'm kind of like. But it's classy. Sure. I just feel like it's a lot of like, I'm so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so sorry. I mean, I think it's cool to say like we as she's this is the subtext. She's not saying this explicitly, but like she's saying we as actors maybe should do a little bit more work to figure out what we're actually doing here. What exactly it is we're doing here. She wrote in a three-part Instagram story, Guys, I am with all of you, and I am not doing this movie. Next frame. Fuck that. I'm out. Next frame. Thank you guys for bringing this to my attention. I agree with every single one of you. This is why I love you guys. That's laying on a little thick there. I'm so, so, so, so, so, so sorry that this happened. It is so important for me to let you know how it all went down. I went in for Percy, but was offered Zoe instead, and instantly said yes. Because that's a Sean Durkin movie with her alleged boyfriend is in the movie too, Drew Starkey. I went in for Percy but was offered Zoe instead and instantly said yes. I'm so pissed, y'all. I hadn't read the book and should have paid more attention to all aspects of Zoe before accepting. Now that I know what I know, fuck that. I'm out. She's also sort of saying, well, then she goes on. I'd never take a role from someone else that's meant to do it. That should do it. That's not me. There are more than plenty of people more than capable of playing this role, and I am not one of them. I can't wait to see who it ends up being Hart. I do like that she's also sort of being like, she's not saying who she's pissed at, but she's implying that people she's pissed at are the people who cast her, which I do appreciate. She's not entirely taking responsibility because it kind of isn't entirely her fault. Well, because she didn't read the book and she shouldn't have to read the book if she just got handed a script. I'm just like, yes. And like, maybe she's like, oh, now when I like I'm looking at a book adaptation, I'm going to have somebody else read the book and tell me what the deal is. Like, so I don't make this mistake again. I also think this is just residual leftover guilt from the way that she styled on I Love LA. Probably, yeah. Because she's been getting that, she's been getting criticism for that for the past few months. And that's like a character decision that also might be out of her jurisdiction, but also something that affects her and affects the way that people see her. And they're like, wow, she's really like going all in on this. Like she's Ariana Grande tan in a way that makes us feel uncomfortable about this character and this actor, etc. So it's like, I think this is just like, she's like, I want you guys to know in this situation, I do pay attention. And on that one, I'm not commenting because I just can't. But this one I am because I can and I do care. And I am like knowing, I'm seeing your concerns that I'm addressing. I'm seeing and I'm learning and I'm listening. Moving forward. It also wasn't, I don't want to act like it was just like people on the internet, like anonymous people saying like, we actually aren't comfortable with this. there was a before she said that she was leaving and i think this was maybe the final nail in the coffin over like a lot of a lot of latino people in hollywood like over a hundred signed like an open letter to wrote an open letter to a24 wait like eva longoria yeah to the casting it was like eva longoria um gene rodriguez i think like jessica alba and uh hold on i have this open and john leguizamo and jessica alba wrote an open letter being like this is disrespectful like in an environment where like latino actors aren't being cast as often as white people like we have a problem okay now i'm like no wonder she wrote such an impassioned statement because it's like not just it's not just fans it's peers like the peers are like coming for this they're using this as of as a good way to start a conversation or at least continue a conversation actually continue a conversation but look at all the names that have signed this letter it's like if i were her i'd also be like get me away from this it is it's not worth it man it's them city in this list of signatories. That's what I'm saying. Get Becky G on this role. She's an actress. She signed it. Well, she's still in the shower. Great. She'd be great. No, she's out of the shower. No, she's very much out of the shower. Odessa is at the exact, the exact right moment in her career where she can't fuck up. Like, you can't, she, you can't, you can't make a misstep right now when you are hot young thing that not many people know about. We're still learning about who you are, who your parents are, what your talents are. She's on the cover of the most recent Hollywood Reporter, I'll tell you that. Headline is, oh, Odessa. Yep. Oh, Odessa. Oh, Odessa. She probably had to say no to say yes to this. I'm sure there are plenty of offers coming for Odessa. Remember she dated Jaden Smith for a long time? That was when we first heard of her. Yeah, that's when we first, before she was Odessa Adlon. She was in, well, she was still a Zion because we talked about her. When did we talk about her? This podcast episode from 2024. okay so like two years ago when she was dating we did also briefly talk about her when she was dating jayden but we she didn't make an episode title title until until she kissed uh billy eilish and quen blackwell the other tiktok star who ended up in i love la in a cameo performance all right here's a woman that i'd never heard of in my entire life genevieve heneleus known as g heneleus who was the star of a show that i'm sorry is g heneleus supposed to be like more catchy than Genevieve Hanelli. I think it's more like, baby, I'm a kid, because now she goes by Genevieve as an adult. She was the star of a Disney Channel series that I'd heard of just because the title made me laugh, but I've never seen an episode because I was an adult dog with a blog. She wasn't the dog or the blog. She was the woman. She was the girl. Obviously. Yes, obviously. I once had to turn down an assignment that was like, watch all of Dog with a blog and then do a funny thing about it and i was like i don't think i can actually do that that's so painfully 2012 that's so painfully something i would pitch and then decide i'm not doing what is the show about i sit next to him in english he's asked to borrow my pencil four times that means something right yeah he has no regard for pencils i'm not helping stan i can't think about anything but dustin it's not even my school work it's like he's living inside my head oh i sometimes feel that way about ear mites which technically are living inside my head i've never felt this way before it's like suddenly there's something making me feel warm and tingly inside and its name is not my business not my problem it's really not my problem she's now trying to transition into adult pop star and just released her she just released her first ep i believe because i listened to the first single and it's called Girlhood and I don't like it. And I'm usually quite forgiving when like a random who releases a music project. Not in this instance. It's not for me, but I support it. So you have Dog with a Blog, Disney star, Breakout, We Want to Be a Pop Star Now. She's seeing Sabrina Carpenter. She's seeing Olivia Rodrigo. Leon Thomas, who was just performing at the Grammys last night. Same with Sabrina Carpenter. She's seeing all these different people. She's saying, why not me? Why not me? I had a blog. I had a dog. And I will also have a pop career. So she's coming out with an EP called Girlhood with a song called Girlhood. In bed by nine, protecting her peace. But Evangeline's been up to something. Kicking rocks, collecting husbands, kitten heels, fur coat, last call. She feels like all she does is cry. And she is posing at the West 4th Street station in a look that mimics a meme that is... I realized I'd seen this before, but I didn't know who G. Hanelius was at the time, obviously. Well, why would you? So a very shady magazine. What magazine is this? Actually, I want to know. It was from 2014. And it's from a magazine where they do the Who Wore It Better thing. Every magazine does a version of this. People, Us Weekly, OK, Star, they all do it. Plus more. And it's a side-by-side of two celebrities wearing the same outfit, and then readers, or editors, choose which celebrity wore it best. The one that went viral with her over ten years ago is her, as a child, wearing the same dress as Beyonce, who was an adult at the time, and it says, who wore it best? Beyonce and G both rocked this dress, but while Baze pulls a little around the middle, rude, G's fits her perfectly. So G. Hanelius won best. Lindsay and I are racking our brains trying to figure out what magazine this is from. We can't figure it out until Lindsay does enough digging. I feel insane because I'm like, people are just calling it a magazine, a magazine. It's like, yes, we could easily say it's people. We could easily say it's Us Weekly. But I'm like, I just don't think that it's either of those. And I don't like that we don't know what magazine it is from. And I don't recognize the best with the checkbook. The best is I've never seen it before. For people, it's percentages. And they ask people on the street. Us does percentages too. Or sometimes it'll just be like they did or she did. They don't use the word best. My sick media brain is pissing me off that no one is saying what magazine and people reported on this and they didn't say our magazine. So I feel like people would claim that it's their magazine. Like, oh, we, this is from our archives or whatever. Right. So I'm like, like searching Google images for all the different formats of who wore it best. And I came across somebody who on TikTok is reading old issues of a magazine called Twist. I've never heard of it. Which makes sense because it's like a... It's a teen magazine. Like, why would they feature a child, essentially a random teen, against Beyonce? Like, that's like, that's rude. Right. Right? And Twist magazine stopped printing print issues like a year after this issue because they stopped in 2015. And now when you go to any Twist magazine link, it leads you to j14 so it is a teen site that's why a teen one right and also it's just funny that like beyonce was like i didn't win the i didn't win so i'm taking this magazine offline so twist magazine which is now technically part of the j14 family i guess although it's not publishing anymore is what this mag what is the origin of this famous meme in which j heneleus dog g heneely's dog with a blog star dresses better than beyonce but what's really funny now is g heneely is who is trying to come out with like a with like a music career is using this meme to sell it like in a funny way like she's like she put the dress back on and she's like i'm still here wearing this dress funny funny listen she knows what's funny even in her wikipedia photo she's somehow wearing stripes did you notice that's so weird they like also have her in like Thicker stripes, but still stripes. Why are we – but like these horizontal stripes, like famously not flattering. Didn't anyone learn that from their mother in the 80s or something? Didn't anyone watch What Not to Wear? You want vertical stripes, not horizontal stripes. She's only – is she really only 27? Yeah. God. Isn't that crazy? Okay. Well, after Dog with the blog, she said, I think I need a real life. And this blog thing – this blogging is not working out. It worked out for me, so, you know, but not for everyone. Blogging, I mean. Yeah. It worked out for you. It worked out for me, blogging. Yeah, but we also didn't have dogs who blogged for us. I want to be famous. I want to be famous. Beckham Watch. We're still on the case? We're still on this? A little bit. I have some things to say. Oh, what would you like to say? Well, the main reason this is in here is because Brooklyn and Nicola posed in a restaurant in the same manner as David and Posh, meaning they just kissed each other at a table. So I don't actually think this is a direct reference to something that David and Victoria did, but it is being reported as such. What I'm interested in, anonymous sourcing told Daily Mail that Nicola Peltz gets $1 million a month from her father. And that sort of made people go crazy for obvious reasons. She's getting $1 million a month. I mean, I think it's unfathomable to a normal person that somebody could get $1 billion a month to spend and then spend it. And then spend it. Yeah, it's like more just shows up on the first. It's so crazy to think about. But anyway, that is the anonymous reporting. We don't know if it's true. Nicola Peltz gets, quote, $1 million a month from a billionaire father, but nothing can keep her away from the same low-cut jeans and platform boots. Daily Mail's like, then why is she wearing these same ugly jeans every time we see her out and about? It's like, okay, maybe she just really likes the fit. Jeans are hard to find. Good jeans. Good jeans are hard to find. Matter of the price. So this made me laugh, but another thing that made me laugh was I watched this video of Brooklyn that he posted recently making what he refers to as my special spaghetti bolognese. No, honey. And I was like, okay, I have to watch him make, how does Brooklyn make spaghetti bolognese? And I had some thoughts as I watched them that I wrote in these notes that you can see. Let's make my special spaghetti bolognese. When he's doing his little mise en place, I noticed his knife skills are improving. He is so good with the knife now. And I was like, wow. And it made me think, how many things has Brooklyn done and given up on in the past? The food stuff is sticking. He's gone longer with it. It's gone longer. I do think it would be really smart of him just to go to culinary school. Yes, I agree. Okay, I know. I'm not saying it's not that hard to go to culinary school. School is hard. It's not that hard for him to get into it and choose to do it. Why doesn't he just go to night school, culinary school version? like it's and it would just be like it would just make such a difference in the everyone's perspective on this whole thing just like if he was just like you know what i'm gonna go to culinary school i want to learn all these things that maybe i missed out on and like get better and i just i would be like yes you get your wife gets a million dollars a month you can afford to go to culinary school Yes So I watched him What else Chop You still watching him But then I noticed him brown the meat He doesn't seem to care about the Maillard reaction. He adds way too much wine to the sauce. He doesn't salt his pasta water enough. So I was like, we're improving, but we're not quite there yet. Okay. So do you think that pasta tasted good? I think it probably tasted fine. I'm sure it tasted completely fine. But I was like, he put a whole bottle of red wine in there. And I was like, that's crazy. I just wanted to say that I noticed that he's getting better at chopping things. And I found that actually kind of nice. Can we move on to relationships? Please. So this is interesting because there had been rumblings that Bella Hadid and her cowboy boyfriend had broken up. And I was sad because I'm like, we love this normie hot guy. I mean, he wasn't even that normie. He's like a famous cowboy. I was, you know, it's funny. that hat does a lot of that hat adds a lot of flavor people were like he's not as hot as you think with the hat off and now we have proof because guess what the guy got a mug shot and they were right and the hat needs to go back on immediately the hat really does add a few points there had been rumors they had broken up and then then like a few days later this whole thing came out oh look they're back together right before he got arrested so like what so so where in this did they break up and get back together was when did this happen was the breakup after the arrest or before like i'm confused you know what i mean because i first saw this it's like oh they're dancing together i'm like oh so that means they're they actually didn't break up and that was a false report but now i'm thinking it's a real report and the breakup happened after this entire incident of them dancing and then him getting arrested for what is it public intoxication yeah been there aiden bonuelos and i have one thing in common and it's that we've both been cited for public intoxication in north texas that's awesome that's huge did you also get out uh with a minor fee of 386 actually you know what lindsey i paid 350 to the city of denton texas okay so that's close i didn't get a mugshot they just handed me the citation yeah yeah yeah oh it's too bad you didn't get a mugshot it was actually it was actually minor in consumption but you know apples and oranges damn you should have gotten a mugshot yeah they gave him i mean the mugshot truly is the thing that kind of gets you here because they made him take off his sexy hat right and they also he's wearing like a prison outfit so i wonder like what happened with his clothes was he shirtless like what he looks drunk he looks wasted the but they're broken up hadid and banuelos both had different schedules and they were long distance for a while which wasn't working out they also realized they had differing opinions and values on life and their future it's kind of just everything there was a lot that was putting strain on their relationship adan really wanted to be in texas with him but bella was ready to spread her wings and take on more work in los angeles and new york yeah she was just in um i guess one episode of the beauty the ryan murphy although they're using her all over the promo she's like in one episode i guess she explodes in the first episode yeah i I think she blows up, yeah. She blows up? I don't know. I don't really get that show. I'm not watching. I'm not watching. But I'm sad because I thought they had a cute thing going. Yeah. Yeah. Lindsay, you just like the hat. Well, I just am like, it's cool to date a cowboy. I want these girls to be dating normies. I want them to date normal guys. I don't want you to date Bradley Cooper. You keep calling him a cowboy. He's an equestrian. I think that's quite different. I think that adds, it sort of, it gilds a bit of, you know, the ruggedness of what a cowboy implies. He was the youngest Mexican-American to be inducted into the National Cutting Horse Association Hall of Fame. The reporting is interesting because it's like they, you're right, that is what makes this sort of like, it makes you sort of question it because some reporting say they had broken up before he got drunk and got arrested. Others say that they were together like hours before he got drunk and got arrested. so it seemed it but whatever the case is it seems like bella was sort of like bye-bye i don't need any of this in my seo you're out i know i feel like very you know it's like she really was kind of like no not with you getting arrested for public intoxication not for that but i did like them i do like when the girls date normies and i he's closer to normie than bradley cooper right her sister's right her sister's boyfriend yeah right or nicola peltz her brother's ex her brother's ex exactly exact anwar on war don't forget anwar my favorite hadid sibling anwar yeah he's have you seen his he's swaggy recently i have anwar is showing up dressing like freaking swag big fan of anwar icon big fan of anwar okay um not dating why i don't want to report on not dating well i don't want to it's one of the things where the the reason we know that they're not dating so there was anonymous reporting that doja cat was dating a basketball player from the lakers named rui hachimura who apparently is quite popular i don't know anything about basketball and so on an instagram post that said rumor doja cat dating lakers forward rui hachimura rui himself commented man fuck no so that's how we know that they're not dating that's rude you You should be so fucking lucky to date Doja Cat. She's a fucking icon. She's gorgeous. This pissed me off, actually. I don't care about this. This pissed me off. This pissed me off, man. Unless you have a wife that you're denying this for. I think he's mostly mad because allegedly he has a girlfriend and he's been dating a woman for like five years. So maybe he just thinks it's disrespectful to his actual girlfriend, who is a civilian. I mean, sure. And also, if my boyfriend was rumored to be dating Doja Cat, I'd be like, you need to say fuck no in the comments. Exactly. So he's doing. Okay. He's actually being polite here. I want to be famous. I want to be famous. Okay. Next, we have the biggest story of the week. I'm really glad that we didn't open with this because I needed to work myself up to be able to revisit what we're about to talk about, which is... We watched the Grammys and I said, have you seen the Pentatonix gender reveal music video? Well, you brought it up because he was there. He was like on the red carpet and they said like, I'm Scott Hoying with Pentatonix. and both you and Lou had not seen it and I was kind of shocked because I was like this was kind of the only thing I saw all weekend and then I put it in the doc and then I kind of looked away from the internet for a little bit and then I came back and I was like how have you not seen what to me is kind of the most moving video don't say moving I want to say that's been posted in a generation well uh-huh I want to thank you for not sending me this when you saw it I want to thank you for keeping me safe for as long as you possibly could until it was like impossible for me to ignore. Because this would have, I had a pretty nice weekend actually. And this would have made me having a good weekend impossible. I would have curled up into a ball. I wouldn't have left the bed. I would have been sad. I wouldn't have eaten. Stop. It would have been rough for me if I had seen this on let's say Friday. So thank you for not showing me until Sunday at like 7 p.m. You're so welcome. The lead vocalist, I guess, of my mother's favorite band, Pentatonix, is expecting a baby with his husband. Scott Hoying is expecting a baby with his husband, Mark Hoying. And they did a gender reveal, sex reveal, indescribable. It's unlike anything I've ever seen in my entire life. It is so earnest. You keep expecting there to be a turn, some kind of knowing wink. It's so earnest in its theatricality and over-the-topness that it dares you to be mad at it. Well, that's what kills me is because it has some self-aware lyricism that wants you to be like, we know we're being ridiculous. And then it kind of does this fun thing where it's like, we're also going to do a thing where this is a gender reveal music video. But we're also going to say that gender isn't important. Like, obviously, like, one of us is going to be really into the idea of gender. And then one of us is kind of going to be like, well, this baby could be a boy and also love to do ballet. And I'm like, yeah. Also, there's an implication. Yeah, we covered that. There's an implication that, like, there's a knowing thing that, like, you know, this is the sex of our baby, but they may decide their gender later. Like, there's a knowing sort of, like, wokeness to the gender politics of it, while at the same time embracing something as, like, nightmarishly traditional as the sex reveal. You know, like, it's trying to have it both ways. There is something kind of delightful about wanting to do something like this so, so badly, even knowing as a gay person that it's problematic in so many ways. You know what I mean? Like, the idea of a gender reveal is just, like, not relevant or modern or interesting at this point anymore. I think you know what I mean yeah and so I just think yes and as like a progressive cool gay person you would know that because you just are surrounded by smart people who are like discussing these issues and like caring about this stuff all the time but despite that right in your heart of hearts you want to make a gender reveal music video like you're like I don't give a fuck like you're just like I know better but I still want this so bad there's something to me charming about that we're just like you're in denial of all the things you've been told about like how this is kind of bad you're like i don't care i want it to be cheesy i want it to be stupid i want it to be like ugly and funny and weird and i want it to be self like i want it to be self-aware but not too self-aware too self-aware it's like sometimes you're just a gay guy and you want to make a video with your friends and i do that's what i'm saying you just want to sing a song with your buds you want to spend money you want to hire actors you want to hire choreographers you want to presumably pay the city of los angeles to shut down the street in front of your house so that you can have a permit to film it there. How much do you think this video cost? Tens of thousands. Half a mil? Tens of thousands of dollars. I wouldn't say half a mil, but tens of thousands of dollars. $100,000. $100,000? If it were $100,000, I wouldn't be surprised. I would guess $50,000. There's dancers. There's choreography and dancers. There's videographers. There's editors. It's well lit. It's well shot. It made me barf, but it's well made. I'm sort of like, hey, all I hear about when you read the trades is that like the film industry is dying in LA and people need jobs. I'm assuming that he employed a lot of people and paid them fairly. Like I'm trying to look on the bright side of things genuinely here. No, it made me feel like my marriage is now and should be invalid. Oh, legal. It made you want to go give back the marriage license to the city of New York. No, when I watched this, I was like, my life has been invalidated and I don't deserve anything. I don't deserve any rights at all, actually. And all of the queer people I know with children, I was like, unfortunately, you have to give them up. Give the kid to someone else. You can't do this anymore, actually. I'm sorry. I know you are all loving parents, but Scott Hoying has ruined it for all of us. And that's all there is to say about it. Scott Hoying is a professional singer. He's in Pentatonix. His husband is not. He's a, quote, former marketing professional. I love that he's just quoted as a former marketing professional. They work on children's books together they've they've written children's books together if i was his husband mark i wouldn't work anymore either i'm like i'm working on making this video you wanted hell no i'll make you dinner bitch i'm not working i'll just make you dinner but listen my point is that scott in this video where they're both singing i risk i really respect mark for being like i'll also sing even though you're like a real singer and i'm not a real singer and like but i'm just a gay guy so i know i love to sing so i'm gonna sing and i don't care you know like a hot gay guy who like likes being on camera too no of course i mean this is performance like they're both what's your favorite part of this video what will our baby be like i really want to know maybe they'll be a pop star or win a golden globe an astronaut or teacher or an ethical ceo okay my favorite part is ethical ceo an ethical ceo should we just annotate this whole thing let's keep going okay we wanna know What if they're into football? Dear God, don't say such things. No matter what they're into, we'll love them just the same. Sorry, quickly. Okay. The videography here is quite nice. Like the transitions. Oh, it's shot nicely. It's shot so well in their beautiful house. Whenever you want to be mad at it, you're like, oh, they like spent real money to make this good. Like they said we have a vision and we're not going to half-ass it. And you have to respect that. Here's the part where they sing Wicked. so many sex reveals are like like the iconic ones the one that's the ones that go viral are sort of like oh they're kind of like budget and then like something explodes and someone's house burns down you know like this is this is well made you know i know this is a budget okay so they must like wicked well duh of course i draw a line we'll be dancing through life will they be a boy who punches walls and smokes cigars what Or will they be a girl who loves to sing? Oh, will they be a boy who takes pictures in front of cars? So I like this because we have the part where he is doing all the different stereotypes. Like, you know what's coming. We know the Mark. We know Mark. This is Scott singing. We know Mark is about to be like, he could be, the baby could be a girl who likes to pose with cars. The baby could be a boy who likes to sing. You're a boy who likes to sing. We know as an audience that what is coming for us is a real look at gender and sexuality. From two thoughtful, progressive parents. Or maybe they'll be somewhere in between. Well, that's the best of both worlds. Just because a baby's a certain gender doesn't mean they have certain interests. What do you mean? Like a boy can like glitter and a girl can play hockey. Well, it's true. A boy can like glitter and a girl can play hockey. No, listen. He takes a sip of some breast milk, I assume, from the fridge. Formula that's in the fridge. And does a spit take into the fridge. Meanwhile, the camera is filming them from inside the fridge. Incredible. How do we? Come on. I'm telling you. Come on. This is days of work. Listen. And then he does a spit take into the camera, and it transitions from the spit take to the hallway walk. Incredible. And here we go. Well, it's true. So I don't think we place any expectations on our baby before they're born. Okay. Here comes the reveal. One, two, three. Oh my God. I didn't know what was happening when this happened. Our baby is a girl. Okay, pause. Pause. And now they're all in pink. The fact that they're leading up to being like, please let our baby be a girl so that she likes Wicked. And then all of a sudden the baby is a girl. And they're all in pink. Oh my God. Now they're on the street. The street is closed off. They got a permit for this. The street is closed off. There definitely like a line of cars like a mile away like slamming on the horns waiting to get let through you know to go to their homes or whatever diane warren like i gotta get home you got multiple dancers with like waving around pink like beautiful pink pieces of fabric and it's it's very la la land like it's just oh it's the sun is right it's explicitly la la it's it is la la land they're using the song from la la land which means did they pay to license the la la land music i'm like Did they know the guy? And the moment from Wicked? I don't know. I think they asked for a favor, maybe. Again, this is not making them money, though. This is not being released on a money-making platform. This is just put out there for us pleads to watch. Fair use. It's fair use. Okay, keep going. Our baby is a girl. Our baby is a girl. Oh, my gosh. Think of all the things we're going to do. We talked about this. No extra. Disney princesses. Our good. We dressed as dance. The video is, just to be clear, the video is only half over. We cannot do the whole thing. We're in the middle of it. No, I really like, no, listen, I really like the turn in this because I like that Scott's character is really sticking to being like, I'm the stupid gay guy where I'm just like, oh, our baby girl, she's going to love lipstick and glitter. And like the other one's like, no, Scott, honey, like we can't have expectations for our daughter. like no like i like that they're kind of playing up this the ignorance right like it is kind of a parody it's kind of a parody it's kind of a parody but it's it's mostly we really want to do this let's just keep doing if you want to fast forward to the part with the pool because that's really the end where they're in the pool and he's like what if our kid is straight that would be the worst thing ever we've already dipped our toes into this we have to do the whole thing what's next And now we get to the turn where the husband's like, Scott, I have to break the news to you that there's a chance that our child won't be gay. And Scott falls into a deep despair. And that's like, everyone's gay and you're gay and her parents are gay and all her friends are gay. And she's gay. And now we have the turn. This fade, this blur into the pool. Now we have a new filming location. How long was I out? Under a second. When our daughter grows up, what if she comes out to us? You don't need to have the answers. Take it day by day. Even if our daughter says she's straight. Yes. No. Yes. No. Every species here on Earth is a percentage change. Really? It's science. So everything is gonna be okay. Okay, pause. Pause. Okay, I just want to point out, they hired four incredible synchronized swimmers. And they also had bits of that where you could hear them from underwater. no it's like jim cameron did this it's literally jim cameron did this it's the gay of water okay and now here's the part where they're like we will she hate this and be embarrassed i like this part wait quickly did he just say what if she gets into drugs and never watches glee those are her biggest those are their biggest fears for the child yes that's the two i would say that this video really boils down to the fact to that line specifically what if she gets into drugs and never and never watches glee okay here we go don't you worry about a thing i got you and you get me we are two two two three it's our baby And they threw a little baby doll at Scott and he caught it. Super Bowl 51! That's the baby. He's going to spike the baby now. Oh my God. Listen. Sorry, really quickly. I mentioned Super Bowl 51. Super Bowl 51! Super Bowl 51! Alright, so where are we at with this? You know, I do feel... I'm single at this point. I'm not married. That's where we're at with this. Listen, I'm like one of your witnesses, so you can't get... That's true. You signed it. Break that up. I signed a document, actually. You signed a document. Well, I'm sorry this didn't validate. So if something happens over there, you're actually legally implicating me in some sort of thing. so you need to let me know. Well, it was funny. When we watched this last night, I think Lou was like, who's the audience for this? Like, who's finding this charming? And I was like, Lou, my mother. And I found out recently my mother does listen to the show sometimes. Wait, have you sent this to her yet? What if she hasn't seen this yet? I probably should. And if you're listening to this now, Mom, your fave is having a baby. I think that my mother would probably find this cute. Your mother would 100% see this be so delighted send it directly to you because it's relevant to you yeah she's not on tic she's not on social media so i don't think she would see it organically because she and it's like that is sort of that is the audience for these people i think this just reminds me of that taylor swift music video me where everyone thought she was gay but then everyone thought she was going to come out in the video for me with the guy from who was the guy it was the guy from the band uh uh panic at the disco yes but just it reminds it's a similar it's a similar aesthetic similar aesthetic as this very similar what's annoying about this is right like the whole thing is a groan but you have to admit the production value is high so high and i really do think like and i'm being i'm being so serious i'm like he put he made a little short independent film he hired all these dancers he hired choreographers i really do us i'm assuming that he spent so much money on this and people got paid fairly so i can't be that mad about it but you also can be mad but i can also be mad about it and i can also think that this sucks yeah you can you can think it sucks yeah that's okay but you know there's there's that there's that little there's that little part of me that is you know the little nugget the little nugget inside my soul that's sort of like, Bobby, this is so sweet. Isn't this so sweet? And I'm trying to repress. I'm trying to push him down. Just push him down and tell him to shut the fuck up. But it's there. It's there. Marcelo Hernandez is dating Ana Cabral, not Sabrina Carpenter. And I actually love this. This is so, like, good guy boyfriend. Like, this is quite, like, hot and sexy to be, like, on Dax Shepard's podcast talking about his Domingo sketch that he was in with Sabrina Carpenter. And Dax Shepard is like, you, like, fumbled the bag. Why aren't you actually with Sabrina Carpenter? And Marcella Hernandez is just like, because I have a girlfriend who is sexy and talented that I love. Like, why do I need Sabrina Carpenter? I mean, I'll play the clip. It's just, like, people are getting so mad. I mean, Dax Shepard is annoying, but Dax Shepard is like – Dax Shepard is leaning into a meme that people created like about Marcelo and Sabrina having chemistry only because he's short. Sorry. Like they were like, oh, they'd be a perfect couple because he's short and she's really short. And it's like, oh, they'd be so cute together. And it's like, okay. And then Dax Shepard months later, which is crazy to me, has him on his show and is like, damn, you fumbled the bag. Like she's so beautiful. Like you should date her. And he's like, I love my girlfriend. Now, if I'm you, again, and I'm 28, I'm going to try to date her with all my might. Are you not trying your hardest to marry her? I'm in a relationship. You are? Yeah, I'm in a relationship with a Dominican girl. She's an architect. Oh. She's unreal. She went to Yale. Oh, wow. Okay, so. Yeah, but Sabrina's awesome. And she's really funny and cool. She's great. I bagged like the best possible woman. Like, why do I need Sabrina Carpenter? Then people getting mad about it on Twitter just made me mad because people were so like, Dax Shepard is trying to say that he should cheat on his girlfriend. I'm like, relax. I'm not mad about it. I just think that what Marcelo said is sort of awesome. Like, it's quite romantic. It is quite romantic to be like, I'm dating my normie girlfriend who's a normie architect. And she's so sexy and she's so hot. Like, why do I need Sabrina Carpenter? It's very like romance novel or something. Moving on. This is crazy. Oh, I can't believe this. Do you remember the drama when Samara Wiley, this is like eight, this is the most dating us shit ever. Remember when Orange is the New Black was on air? Remember when Orange is the New Black was the biggest TV show on television? Mm-hmm. It was good. Remember when Netflix had just launched? Yeah. Remember when Netflix launched? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone? I feel like father, I feel like father time being like, remember when Netflix launched. Everyone was watching Orange is the New Black? We were. And we did. And we liked it. Remember that? Yeah. When Netflix had one original show and it was Orange is the New Black and everyone was like yes it was like house of cards and then that so samira wiley was one of the stars breakout stars of oranges and the new black right we'll say and then was in handmaid's tale and now has done various things whatever hasn't really like had the biggest hugest career since then but like works steadily and people like her but her drama was so interesting because while she was on oranges and the black she like met a girlie who worked on the crew essentially like she was a writer or Was she on the crew? I think she was a writer. She was a writer. You're so right. She was a writer. You were so right. She was a writer in the writer's room. And she was married to a man. And Samira was like, well, what if you weren't? And the woman was like, well, what if I wasn't? And literally divorced her husband and got together with Samira. And they were together for nine years, had a child together. They make a video where it's like, my partner is a girl. They made an entire music video from a movie that wasn't even out yet. Yeah, I know. Crazy, crazy. It's crazy they knew that La La Land was coming. And then now they're getting a divorce. Who did they tell they're a divorce to? Who's got the exclusive on the divorce? That's right. Out Magazine got an email. Out.com. Exclusive colon. Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli are filing for divorce. I'm just dying that it's such an out exclusive. Out getting a gay divorce exclusive is so gay rights. I love that. I love it. I love it. You know what I mean? And like, because they also were profiled by Out in like a few years. Also just a few years ago. They were that year in 2016. When they had a baby. When they had a baby, they got engaged. When they got engaged in 2016, they were profiled as part of Out's love issue. So clearly somebody still had the email of somebody who works at Out and still works there 10 years later. They emailed them and said, actually, remember when you featured our love? Now feature our divorce because gay rights. Please. Yep. Incredible. Yeah. And Samir's going to be in Proof on Broadway. I can't wait. Can't wait to see that in Proof. With Ayo and who's the guy? Because I know Ayo's in it. It's Don Cheadle. Oh, it's Don Cheadle as playing the dad. Okay, great. It's Cheadle. Good cast. I just love, this is so gay rights to me, the announcement of Divorce and Out Magazine. I love that. I love it. I love it. What was she wearing? Where was she seen? She posted what on Instagram? she's the who queen tens of people want to know all about the number one who lizzie bobby tell us now what's rita ora up to oh is this woman rita gave an exclusive interview profile to the sun what really wild really wild that she did this I'm just seeing this for the first time. Sorry, I didn't see this. No, I read it this morning because it's all pasted in here. Yeah. It's an interview. It's an exclusive interview with The Sun where you're sort of like, why did she give an interview with The Sun? It's all centered around Primark promo. Like, it really is. Right. She literally said. She's promoting a Primark collaboration because she's obviously doing a new one because they're always successful. And in this piece, she's talking about her relationship with Taika and, like, being a stepmom. But this really just proves that, like, Rita does not hold a grudge against tabloids, like, for covering her. You know what I mean? Like, she's not, like, mad at the sun for, like, reporting, like, kind of fake things about her forever. Like, she's just like, oh, you're just going to give me press? Like, I don't care. I'll give you an exclusive. Hot Rita now. Hot Rita now. Rita Ora on what being a stepmom has taught her, her A-list marriage, building a pub in her garden, and those wild parties. So they don't even mention her primark line in the headline. That's kind of brutal, even though that's kind of all she wants to talk about. Because a lot of it is also like, how do you do it? How do you do so much stuff? How do you go to the gym and build a pub in your garden apartment and do a Primark line? And she's like... I'm wondering that every time we do this segment. I wonder that every time. Yeah. I kind of don't live anywhere, she laughs. And yet she's building a pub in her backyard. I thought she was building a workout studio. Maybe it's also a pub. I don't know. It's all together because that's what her neighbors got mad at her about. But she's doing it anyway. Okay. Oh, well, her dad also owns a pub. It's all part of the same thing. So she's like, it's in my family. Yep. Yep. Okay. And then she's like, once a week, I'm going to go to the pub and get tipsy. Then for six days, I'm going to be on it. It's just the balance. That's how I live my life. I had a great Friday night out with my mates. Then I had a day off on Saturday and Sunday I got back into training. She's literally like, I live a normal life. Like, that's just like what normal people do. That's normal. I'm obsessed. That's normal, right? Yep. Sometimes I'll have dinner at 6 p.m. and I'm in bed by 9 p.m. It's embarrassing, but I love it. Work always comes first. But yeah, I'm a pretty fun party partner. I ask a lot of my friends. And then she's like, I like being a stepmom. But I think she knows that it's good for business to do these sorts of things. She doesn't care. It's good for my business. Very good for my business. Okay, we're done.
