And if we need to go back 96, I'm happy to because I want to hear about your trip out to San Francisco. Yeah. So I was out in San Francisco for Super Bowl week. I was not at the Super Bowl. I came home on Saturday, but I've never been to a Super Bowl, even like festivities leading up to a Super Bowl. So it was kind of wild. It is just literally hopping from one event to the next and kind of seeing if you can snag a ticket to really cool parties. I ended up, highlight was ended up at the New Heights party, Jason and Travis Kelsey. So that was pretty cool. And just like, you know, I'm standing there and Joe Burrow is so close to me. Like our arms are touching and Justin Jefferson. And it was just, it's just wild to just see all these professional athletes in person. And they're all so much bigger than you could expect. I was out there for an event hosted by Father's Brewing, which is an awesome organic beer that's based out of the Bay Area. And so they had the Travis Mannion Foundation kind of as their charity partner for the event. And yeah, you know, there's a lot of people out there. I don't know. I felt a little old. I'm not going to lie, Connor, because like, I'm like naming all these people that I'm seeing like influencers and musicians and, you know, my kids are like geeking out and I'm like, wait, should I be getting video of this for the kid? It was just funny. Cause you know, my 17 year old daughter the whole time is like, mom, take a picture, take a picture with this person. I'm like, I'm not taking selfies with people. Like Like that's not the vibe. I'm not going to look cool. But had a chance to hang with Rob out there. And I got to give Rob some big ups. He's not on the show now, but Rob is a networking mastermind. Like I got a chance to watch him in action out there at a couple events. And God, he just has a way. He knows how to work a room. He knows how to talk to people. He's so engaging. And he does it all with a non-alcoholic beer. You know, it's not like, yeah, like, it's not like he needs a couple drinks to loosen up. I mean, it was just, I was kind of like a proud mom. I was like, God, you're doing, you're killing it. So, but we also had a good chance. And I have not been to San Francisco in, gosh, I haven't been to San Francisco in 20 plus years. Oh, wow. Yeah, it's been that long. And being out there, I mean, San Francisco is, it's beautiful. Like it is, it's a beautiful city. And so it was, it was super nice to just be out there again. The weather was like ideal. It was pristine. And even even like our Uber drivers the whole time were saying like they were like the weather's great this week. You know, it's normally like around this time, like high 50s, cloudy. It was like close to 70 and sunny almost every day. So the city was really hopping from what I could tell. The city did it right. I think it was a little logistically challenging with the game being in Santa Clara. but like everything I was doing, it was in downtown San Francisco. So, um, but yeah, it was, it was super fun. Um, yeah, I had a great time. Did you walk up and chat with any of those people that you mentioned? I talked to Jason Kelsey. Um, but you already know, do you already know him though? I've never actually met him. So, but we had like, I mean, I went up to him and I was just like, Hey, Jason, Ryan Manning with the Travis Manning foundation. And he was like, Oh, of course, you know he he knows the connection through lane johnson who's a big supporter of ours um i saw travis and god i was like i was fangirling a little i know um and i did not go up to him because he was like mobbed and it was just like what's my intro you know it's like how do you randomly just walk up to a celebrity that you have no connection point to and just say like hey i'm ryan like yeah Like, what do you say? So I was like, I'm not going to make a fool of myself, but yeah. Well, I mean, as it relates to networking and Rob's, I've seen him do it as well. And I like to think I have a penchant for it. You got to just find like a nugget of a connection or a quick mention of something they said recently, but it's harder and harder with people on Kelsey, Travis Kelsey specifically on his level, because I've never heard of anybody interacting with him and having a bad interaction. Yeah. But I think it's, you know, part of that is once you get to that level, you can kind of just turn it on and be polite. And everyone's meeting you for the first time. You'll probably never see that person again in your life, but they're always going to remember that interaction they had that one time with Travis Kelsey. Oh, of course. It's very easy, I think, for the most part. I think it's easy to just be polite to people when they come up to you. So had you walked up and said nothing more than, Hey, Travis, I'm a big fan. Yeah, I know. I know. It was just like, you know, the cool thing about the new heights party is there was a lot of Eagles connections there because of Jason. So I ended up actually knowing a lot of people, but they did a good job. It was, it was a cool event and it was, it was cool to be there, But just like you just see like one of the things that is very evident when you go to these parties is there's just a lot of people that like want to be there to be seen and meet every single person they can. And so it's a little bit of like even just people watching is kind of hilarious at these things. It's like they're like Pokemon, like trying to just collect pictures, as many pictures as they can, like walk around the party doing nothing. But like, hey, can I take a picture with you? hey can I take a picture yeah and listen I'm not knocking it like there there have been people that I've wanted to introduce myself to and took a picture with so I'm not saying I'm above that by any means but sometimes some people make that their sole focus when I think when you're at a party like that take it in just enjoy yeah just have those interactions yeah and it was funny too because there was also like a big like dichotomy in the events like you know I went from like the one event, the father's brewing event. And that was hosted with, by Justin Pugh, who he, you know, he played for the giants. Right. Um, and so, you know, and that was like young, fun, dynamic, lots of like activations there. And then later that night I ended up at like Mike Dicka's party. Don't ask me. Oh, cool. Don't ask. But like that party was so lame. You, it was just such a corporate event that makes sense yeah because i was excited that somebody was like you want to go to mike dicker's party i'm like sure well not to aid shame i have a heck of a lot of respect for mike dick i'd be interested to meet him and and talk to him but by and large the people who know who mike dick are are all 45 plus right so here you go if i'm 23 number one good chance i have no idea who Mike Dick is and his relevance to the NFL and to the Super Bowl. And two, why would I think he would have a good party? Everybody probably wants to go to like the New Heights party, you know? So that makes sense. But it's a good time nonetheless. It was good. One of those events where you're just going to see people like, oh my gosh, that's... Oh, I saw like my last night there, Friday night, I'm walking into my hotel and I'm going to say her name wrong. Is her name Iona? She's the rugby player. Do you know the, it's like Alana or. Oh yes. I do know who you're talking about and I, but I don't know. She's like the most famous female rugby player, like big woman. Like she's really pretty. And she just walked by me on the street and I'm like, holy shit. like it was just yeah you were just like you just saw a ton of people a bar soul had a huge presence there obviously and really showed up and you could like they were everywhere splashed everywhere so it was cool yeah all the shows really went and did a great job that were there in person yeah and uh certainly you know shout out to dave for footing the bill and getting all the patriots fans Yeah, that was awesome. In an excellent suite or, you know, a couple different suites. And then I'm looking at pictures. It seemed like Jon Hamm hung out with everybody at Barstool, which that is somebody that if I saw Jon Hamm, I want that picture. Here's the thing. Here's the thing for me. When someone does something, whether it's a musician, an artist, an actor, an athlete, that they're very good at their profession. I think it's a nice thing to do to just say like hey I really respect what you do and I would argue that probably most of those people don't get I don't want to say don't get tired of it but they appreciate yeah so if I saw Jon Hamm I'd be like hey you know pleasure to meet you I just I really enjoy your work you know going from your television stuff to all your movies I just really appreciate your work and there you go that's one way to you know jump off a conversation and then who knows where the conversation goes from there but he seemed quite personable and approachable and I even saw one picture where Pat from Barstool was looking defeated similar to the picture you took of me two years ago yeah yeah that's how Pat was looking and apparently Jon Hamm just took a picture of him and then called him over and said hey look at this picture I took of you so Pat took a picture of my God holding it up so you know if you can take those interactions away from the game despite being a massive Pats fan and Pats never really being in the game that has to be a lot of fun yeah to see those people and just listen I think most people especially you know with each passing year with how expensive it is to go to the Super Bowl most people in their lifetime will never even go to the Super Bowl let alone you know they won't even go to Super Bowl week let alone get to the game so for Dave to have brought that many people now obviously there's there was a handful of guys in that group that have been now to multiple Super Bowls with Dave yeah there's a handful that were all first-timers and that's just such a fun experience certainly you want to go and see your team win but just to be there and be a part of something that is just etched in American zeitgeist that the Super Bowl is it's a big word. I love that word. I love that word. I think it's very descriptive of things when you're talking about how they impact society as a whole in our history. But anyway, so that was very cool. And I guess we can, we can get into, you know, talking about the Super Bowl at large and the halftime show. I was at a party, excellent party thrown by some friends. And it was actually just the way it like timed up you know with life in general my wife and i hadn't been to a super bowl party in a couple years either people weren't throwing them or people were always throwing them but we didn't necessarily leave our house the last couple years this is the first time we did it again and i forgot how much you don really watch the game yeah and you among a lot of people and it not like those people are distractions like you hanging out you yeah enjoying the party you eating food you drinking you not sitting down and focused on the game but from my vantage point watching the game it was almost hard to watch with how we were texting yeah the patriots looked unfortunately i feel bad i felt bad for drake may he just he looked outmatched and the patriots just could not get anything going and And that is a frustrating thing to watch as a fan of your team when it just seems like no matter what you do, you can't get anything going. It's working to lose a game when you're scoring points and you're going back and forth and another team beats you. But when you just look like this is the first time you've played football, it was just a tough watch the whole game. Out on the course, they're the PGA Tour's best players. But in the arena, they're prime time. And season two of TGL presented by SoFi is back with lights, cameras, action. We're talking big moments, big personalities, big names in the stands, all on the big screen. Big time matchups with shot clocks, hammer drops, timeouts, overtime and playoffs. It's city versus city, squad versus squad. The sport just hits different under the lights. It's TGL presented by SoFi. Keep up. It's golf. Tune into every match only on ESPN. Well, it's funny you say that because, yeah, I honestly felt bad for Drake May. I did. It was painful to watch and just all the hype leading up. And I loved both stories. I loved the Drake May story, this super young kid. you know his wife is like and michael like she's become a little bit of a celebrity on her own in terms of like with her baking and everything she does and and it's a nice wholesome story and then on the flip side you know with the seahawks quarterback like god that story you know i mean he jumped around for eight freaking years like backup quarterback here do i mean that was like that was an awesome story too i mean that was almost like a microcosm for life in general though sometimes you just need to find the right fit yeah it wasn't and perseverance yeah and just like i mean just being persistent and and continuing to believe in yourself but you know i held a super bowl party two years ago and i remember leading up to it i was like uh i don't know if i should to help this party because I'm like I'm gonna have 50 people at my house you know my team's in the Super Bowl and I'm gonna be hosting and not able to watch the game now luckily an effective host and just sit and watch yeah now on the couch luckily the it was it was almost very similar to this game even more so where the Chiefs we we blew them out so it was just like weird as part like I didn't for within the first series I was like we won this game like you just felt the energy and so but like the last two years like it hasn't even been a game like there's one team that is just completely dominant over the other team which I find so interesting well but so that's the thing I thought about this game was for as poor as the Patriots were playing offensively their defense was keeping a minute i mean it went to halftime well yeah and it was still very much a game a game and yeah even into the third and maybe uh it wasn't until he threw that that pick six where i was like all right now this is really over but they kind of sniffed like they might have a chance to get back in this thing so if i were the seahawks fans it's still not as enjoyable as last year being an eagles fan where you know first it was just like definitely second quarter you're like all right, well, this game's over. We can just enjoy ourselves now, which is the best way to watch a game. You know, it was funny because I was talking to my 11 year old son this morning and he, he made a bet with his uncle for the game. And he took, he took the Patriots, but he was given five. Right. So I think the spread was four and a half. My uncle gave him an extra half a point. And once it got to like nine, nothing, cause when it was like three, nothing. He's like, all right, I'm still winning. You know, then it was six nothing. And he was like, I just need one point, you know, and then it was like 12, nothing. And he was like, I'm like, they only need a touchdown and you're still in. And he goes, they can't even get the ball five yards down the field. And this morning on the way to school, I was like asking him about it. I was like, well, I said, why do you think that the Patriots played so bad? You know, what do you think it was I said was it Drake May and his 11 year old assessment now he's a total football like geek he was like no it was the offensive line like the offensive line failed the quarterback is essentially what he said and then I was like yeah like it was just like the game last year I said you know and he's like mom there was no game like the game last year we put in our second string which I totally had forgotten about. And I'm like, that's wild. Like we took Jalen hurts out in the super bowl. Like I remember that. Yeah. So just reliving that memory. I just had to do that. So, so yeah, just overall, just not, not a great game overall, which is unfortunate, but they're not all going to be good games. But you know, the, the thing obviously that had everybody shattering and I got to admit I was in the car we left at halftime so I saw nothing of halftime I saw you know snippets here and there did you re-watch it no I still haven't watched it oh you gotta watch it okay I'll check it out probably at some point but what did you what did you think because I've seen every review under the sun about the halftime to include the alternate halftime. I heard comments on that one as well. Okay. So I am, I'm pretty biased because as you know, I go to Puerto Rico every year to do service work. I've been there for the last seven years. I've been going back to Puerto Rico. So I, about five years ago, I was introduced to this little known artist named Bad Bunny. and, and, um, you know, he is beloved in Puerto Rico. Like everyone loves bad bunny. And so, um, I have a friend who's a gold star spouse and, um, and she is, her family's from Puerto Rico. And so she was the one who started, you know, talking to me about bad bunny. So you can go back like four years. I was last night on my, on my Instagram and I'm using bad bunny songs in post like from four years ago. So I, I love bad bunny. And I just got back from Port Puerto Rico, like two weeks ago when I landed in Puerto Rico, the first thing when I walked out of the gate was a huge mural of bad bunny with like super bowl 60 on it. Like they were, there's the pride they had that he was performing. And so I was excited about the halftime performance. I loved it. I actually thought it was great. I thought what I loved most about it, and this is not a political statement. What I loved most about it was that I loved that if you watch the performance, he captured the essence of the Puerto Rican culture. because it kind of walks you through all these different, all these different kind of Puerto Rican festivities. And I thought it was fantastic. So I was a big fan. And then you bring out Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. And I thought it was well done. I hated that people were kind of talking about it in this way. Like we brought some foreigner in to do the halftime. Like he's Puerto Rican. It's an American territory. like it just I don't know I didn't get the outrage I really didn't get the outrage so I thought it was a great great halftime show yeah I mean I saw similar sentiments that to you that it was an unbelievable show the the the choreography the pageantry of it all yeah very very intricate and very cool and just enjoyable to watch obviously I heard people say it was not very good obviously you hear the people complain that it was in Spanish but when you peel it back you know first of all say you're not gonna please everybody and I'm actually kind of walking back my statement I made last week about like oh we should just vote and then I realized after I said that and all the people who are it's a private entity you don't get to vote on private I'm like oh my god yes I know that I know how things work I know that's why we don't vote on it jeez i please don't take what i say literally but think back to some of the performers we've had in the super bowl you know bruce springsteen okay not everyone's bruce springsteen fan i can remember when it was in la dr dre snoop dog eminem i love that yeah sure i did too you know who didn't my dad my dad doesn't like dr dre and snoop dog you know yeah he was with us uh you know So for, I can remember one of the Super Bowls I went to was when the Who performed. And I went back to my friend's grandfather's house and he was like, how was the game? Who was at halftime? Who were the Who? Who were the Who? And meanwhile, they were. How did he not? Yeah. Exactly. But that's my point. The Who were a very famous band and he had no idea who they were. So no matter what. I actually thought. Everybody. Yeah, I actually admittedly thought it was an interesting pick. I was surprised that they picked that. Here's why. Don't be surprised because here's why. All right. Okay. Bad Bunny. I saw a stat that Bad Bunny led all Spotify artists last year with 20 billion listens. Wow. See, I didn't know that. You look at how many international games there are next year for the NFL. Yeah. All this was for Roger Goodell, dollar signs. He's trying to bring eyeballs to the game. And if Bad Bunny has 20 billion listens, well, you know, that's not all coming from the United States of America. It's coming. Well, it's definitely not because a lot of people, a lot of people did not, you know, that I knew did not know who he was. They were like, who's Bad Bunny? They had no idea, you know. and here's the other thing that really bothered me when I was like looking at all like the negative comments about it. It was, you know, it was these people that were so offended by like, oh, he kept grabbing himself and, and there's young kids that are watching this. And I'm like, the hypocrisy of that, because first of all, they had Kid Rock doing the alternate halftime. right okay and i'm sorry that stunk too yeah i'm sure it did but i'm sorry but if i could play you some lyrics from kid rock songs problematic would be an understatement right and so like this fake outrage that like we had some latino grabbing his his balls and i'm like the fact of the matter is is that i guarantee all of you listen to michael jackson you know back in the day like what what artists I'm sorry does not grab their crotch come on when they're like it just it is what it is like I remember watching the Super Bowl when freaking Justin Timberlake ripped off Janet Jackson's shirt and exposed her boob to the world and was like oh it was a wardrobe malfunction like no it wasn't but right you know it's just I don't know I feel like every year you hear like people who's got this big problem with the halftime show and I'm like oh god I don't know It drives me crazy. I just think there's so many bigger things for us to worry about. And like you said, it is a private entity. Roger Goodell picks who it is. If you don't like it, don't freaking watch and call it a day. But we don't need to like have big conversations about the halftime show. I don't know. Or look into it as some sort of political statement or what is the NFL, you know, trying to get us to think. I genuinely think he was picked because of his reach. and his yeah you're probably right that makes that makes the most sense out of everything uh that i've heard so um and i you know one thing i will say about the halftime shows like you mentioned michael jackson and and that's still considered by many to be the greatest halftime ever what blows me away now in recent years are how many people it's not just a band up on a stage it's how many performers dancers, people running around like bushes last night that go into performing that. That to me is very, very cool. And as it relates to it being in Spanish, again, I think that's to try to reach new audiences. It's not the end of the world. Like I think about, you know, Luciano Pavarotti. He sings in Italian. I still, I can't understand a word he's saying, but it's still really beautiful. yeah I just don't think it needs to be the controversy that people make it out to be and I think the people who are riding so hard it's just you're contributing to the problem you know like it's the halftime show it's not anything more than that I will say in terms of other performances Green Day performed and I thought they were great I loved the Green Day performance. I thought that was great. And then Brandi Carlisle singing, um, America, the beautiful, she she so pretty And Charlie Puth doing the star spangled banner was also amazing So yeah And great flyover Great Yeah Flyover was awesome I loved I don know if you caught it cause you were at a party but they did They had in one of the jets, I guess they had a camera and they had video on the two guys in the cockpit, I guess after the flyover and they did a fist bump. Yeah. I saw that. And I was like, God, that's so fricking cool. Like imagine you just flew over and you're, I don't know. I loved it. Well, I mean, like what's more American than a flyover at the Super Bowl? Nothing. How about we all just rally around how awesome that was? Yeah. So I thought those performances were very cool. Somebody that I was with couldn't understand why Green Day was performing. And I actually, I didn't know this until I looked it up, but I just guessed. I was like, they're probably from San Francisco. It turns out they're from just north of San Francisco. So that's why their connection to the show was there. I thought they did great. I mean, it reminded me of like seventh, eighth grade when I was buying my Green Day CD and they played. Yeah, I thought they and you know, the other thing, I thought they looked really good for their age. The lead singer. What's his name? Billy? I forget. Yeah, but I was like, God, he looks he looks good. He's got to be in his late 40s or 50s, 50s at least. Probably in his 50s if I had to guess. yeah um but you know he is 53 yeah well you know certainly the guy's very successful so he has money and access to certain medical procedures should he i know but there's a lot of anything yeah there's a lot of musicians that have a lot of money and they still look like shit by the time they're 50 because they've lived real hard so i know i have no i don't really know much about him. I don't know how much of it, if he's like a hard partier or if he wasn't. Yeah. So think, you know, everybody has problems in this world. Even, even the rich and the famous, they have problems through their problems. Just manifest themselves differently than our problems. But I would venture to say, you know, for all the trouble and all of the energy it takes to be a touring musician for so long it's a relatively low stress job right like you know that everybody who's coming to your show it's not like people are coming to your show because they were forced ever you know everybody who's coming to your show is a fan of you and likes you so people are just adoring you all the time and you get to play music for a living again I'm sure he has his own stressors and own problems relative to the rest of the world it's probably an easy way to make a living and i just think stress ages people so you remove that and you get what you see on stage last night with a guy who looks great for 53 there you go so all right um transitioning let's talk about a beauty must-have batiste dry shampoo it's the award-winning number one dry shampoo in the u.s and worldwide and honestly it earns the hype batiste instantly refreshes your hair by absorbing oil and grease, leaving it cleaner looking with added volume and texture. Grab Batiste dry shampoo online or in store at your nearest retailer today into a more serious topic that's also just crazy and weird but last week nancy guthrie who is the host of the today show no savannah's the host nancy yes savannah guthrie nancy guthrie is her mother savannah guthrie is the today show host her mother was abducted. 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie vanished from her Arizona home on February 1st, so going on eight days now, and they're treating the case as an abduction. Law enforcement has received alleged ransom notes, but says there's no verified proof of life yet, and no suspects or persons of interest publicly identified. An online theory became that Nancy Guthrie's son-in-law, Tomaso Sione, was involved after police searched his home, but authorities have failed to publicly name any suspects. The FBI and local sheriff's office continue to investigate. There's been a $50,000 reward offered for any information leading to her recovery or an arrest. It, to me, I mean, she's an 84-year-old woman. So the fact that she was abducted and understanding, obviously, you know, Savannah Guthrie is a well-known individual. Yeah. But it's not like she's a, like a political leader, like, or. The whole thing is so weird. The whole thing is so weird. I mean, devastating. I could not imagine having someone from my family abducted, dealing with dealing with like the captors and like ransom notes. And but like some of the stuff I've been seeing, I don't know if you saw the first video that came out and it was Savannah Guthrie talking and then they were putting it up. she's reading a statement just like talking to the abductors saying we're ready to talk and blah blah blah and then she says something like you know our mom and she's sitting next to her sister and her brother and she's saying like our mom is kind and she's generous and she's sweet talk to her and you will see and then they put it up against the the thing from um what the heck's the movie with Jesus with Hannibal Lecter. Oh, Silence of the Lambs. Yes. So it is. Have you seen that clip? No. You got to watch it. It's wild. Literally, Savannah Guthrie says the same. Savannah Guthrie says almost the exact same line as the mother of, I guess it's Jodie Foster, not Jodie Foster, but the one one of the girls that's abducted. Yeah, she is talking. And she was like, my daughter is sweet and she is kind. Talk to her and you will see. And Savannah Guthrie says the same thing. And people are analyzing it. And they're saying that like the abductors may be giving clues or like maybe saying, we need you to say these specific things. Like they're like, was she told to say that? And then in the second one, they were like, please bring our mother home so we can celebrate her. And there's like analysts that are saying they may already be acknowledging that and may already know that the mother's not alive. But they're like, bring her home so we can celebrate her by saying like, we just want her body at this point. I mean, this woman was on a pacemaker. They said that she couldn't last without her medication for more than three or four days. It's been eight days now, you know. but the the it's just so crazy one of the things I was saying it's like here's a woman that reports the news on a grand scale and now she is the news and that's the dichotomy of that is kind of wild you know and the the story is so bizarre I mean gosh I hope they bring her they find her one way or the other you know for some sort of closure for them yeah so I don't I'm not an avid today show watcher i was growing up but not anymore so my knowledge of savannah guthrie is is limited i will say she received an award at the elizabeth doll foundation gala she's yeah she's really connected with them yes and so she does a lot of work with with the veteran community and by all accounts I don't know of anyone who thinks she's a horrible person no she's not a polarizing figure at all polarizing at all no I think sometimes folks get on news stations and they get labeled one thing or another yeah and I haven't heard that about her no I don't think that's the case by all accounts she doesn't have enemies so that's another thing where I think this is all very odd why her and maybe it's just because she has the platform that she does it just it all feels very very strange and it's very heartbreaking because clearly this woman is you know on the back nine of life here and you would want to be able to spend time with her so to potentially lose her in this fashion is just devastating. So I hope she's found and I hope she's found unharmed. It's just all incredibly bizarre. Well, and the other thing is, is like they're asking for $6 million in Bitcoin, which they also said is like super bizarre. The whole thing, there's so many weird things about this case. And it's just, I mean, God, it's just freaking scary because they can actually see the timeline of like, she was dropped off by her family. They watched her walk inside. They watched the garage door close. And then they can actually see the time at like 1.30 in the morning or somewhere around there that her pacemaker stops being connected. So they kind of know the moment of abduction, you know? Oh God, the whole thing. So sending lots of prayers for, you know, her safe return. Yes. so unfortunate is an understatement hopefully that gets resolved you got to watch you got to watch that i'll find it and send it to you because that is super interesting okay all right um another major event that is happening right now the winter olympics kicked off real quick are you an olympics person be it summer winter both i yeah i like the olympics summer winter i like it all absolutely i think it's it's cool because you know i don't know when uh one other times i'm watching luge luge yeah yeah all the random things are fun to watch too sports that i never watch i think is you know fantastic certainly with the x games in the last 20 years you see a lot more winter sports but even that it's still not as prominent as our our main sports so i think it's fantastic to see uh the winter olympics i don't know if we talked about on the last episode but did you happen to watch the documentary about the 1980 US hockey team? No. That is a must-watch on Netflix. Okay. A lot of interviews with the players and kind of retells the story and gives more insight than even the movie from 2004, the Disney movie from 2004 did. So just really, really good documentary and just it was heartwarming in the sense that it was good for the American soul to watch that documentary. But so far, Team USA as of today has two gold medals. We won gold in the team figure skating event, which I actually didn't know that was a thing, team figure skating. I didn't either. Is that a new thing? Because I love watching the figure skating and I don't ever remember there being team figure skating. Yeah. It was capped off by Ilya, the quad god, Melanin. He sealed the victory with a high-scoring free skate. Have you seen a picture of this guy? No. He's like the Will Ferrell movie. That was the ice skating movie. Blades of Glory, I think it was. What's his last? Oh, Million. I see it. Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, he just has the look. amazing hair awesome outfits yeah obviously an unreal figure skater it was just great to see him crush it he's 21 years old yeah he really solidified it i saw clips he was he did a backflip which is mind-boggling on ice skates so yeah that he did that was awesome and then the other gold came from breezy johnson she won gold in the women's downhill of note was also lindsey vaughn She was like 14. First of all, Lindsay Vaughn being able to come out after blowing out her ACL. That's unreal. I just, I don't understand how ACLs work anymore, I guess. Cause I used to be her ACL and you were done for a little bit. The fact that she did that a week ago came back, but then she's 14 seconds into her run and crashes, crashes her freak thing that her pole got caught on the gate and had to be airlifted out. And that was devastating to see for her to come back and only to have had that have that happen was just so brutal. Yeah. I mean, let's talk about Lindsay for a second, because I've actually interviewed her before. Yeah. And she is. You don't compete with a torn ACL. It is the fact that she was able to do that. I mean, she is superhuman in more than physically, mentally. the and I actually put out a clip last week right before she competed I put out a clip of her talking about like overcoming challenges and because you know she has just been faced with injury after injury like her knees are like both I mean her one knee I think is like all titanium And she just has the greatest mental toughness of any athlete female or male I ever seen And so the fact that she was, and you know, the beauty of it, like, yeah, she crashed and that was devastating. And I read the article with her family and just, they were like, just seeing that just crushed them. But she was able to do the training run. I think it was the day before and like did it beautifully. So, you know, again, it was a little bit of a freak accident, but I think people are going to be kind of telling her story for forever. Like just as, you know, again, you talk about persistence and belief in yourself. I mean, she's, she's in her forties. and i didn't want to age shame her but it's obviously no but it's known that she's 41 yeah she actually she's only three days younger than me i didn't realize we were that close in birthdays but it's great like your body is not supposed to be able to do that to be able to recover from injury let alone yeah from injury and compete a week later yeah so it's incredibly impressive but she wasn't recovered from injury you know she just found a way to do it despite the injury which is again just a testament to her her strength her mental strength more than anything so yeah unbelievable unbelievable the other big story of course was the american athletes that were asked questions and these journalists that are like probing for these political statements but these athletes that have said how they are not a fan of what's going on in the united states right now and they're not necessarily proud to represent the United States. And I'm paraphrasing here. What did you make of those comments made by those athletes? I don't listen. Everybody has an opinion and everybody has the right to have an opinion on, on things. I think there's a time and a place for it. I think if you are given the opportunity to hold the stage, representing your country um i don't know i think you represent your country i i don't i don't like the i don't like the talk of i'm not proud you know i i it bothers me i don't know yeah yeah i kind of think like you know multiple things can be true at once yeah you can you can disagree with certain things that are going on in this country while still believing it's the greatest country in the world. Because let's not get it twisted. There are other countries competing in these Olympics where if you're a woman or if you are gay, you truly do not have the same rights. Obviously, women and gay people in this country have their own issues that they have to deal with as it relates to how they are treated. But by no means is it like other countries where, you know, you could be like stoned to death for doing certain things. I think you said that perfectly. I think the way you said that you can, you can disagree with things, but still believe this is the greatest country in the world and still be proud to represent that country. Correct. I just think like kind of similar to what you said, it's like, Hey, those are our problems but let's not like go air that out and and tell people and i understand they're saying that they have a platform so use that platform but i just don't know that this is the time and place to use that platform i don't know it's just it's very very confusing um that they're being asked these questions at at the olympics and it's just it's hard to hear i i can appreciate like i said i can appreciate that if they don't disagree because i don't just i don't agree with everything that's happening in this country right now. Right. And guess what though? Guess what, Connor? You're never going to agree with everything that's happening in this country, right there. And nobody is ever going to agree with everything that's happening in this country, you know? So that's just the facts. Yeah. So it just, it's, it's tough to hear because I think that's one of the greatest things you can do is go represent your country in the Olympics, in the military, and it's a privilege to represent your country in other places on that level. So I just, like I said, I just like, let's take care of our problems and not amplify them and like, you know, talk shit on our own country to other people. Yeah, that's really where I land on that. I agree. Okay, just a couple of quick military updates. the US military. Speaking of representing the country, we have risen our presence in the Middle East. The US aircraft carrier strike group has been deployed. The USS Abraham Lincoln and multiple warships are in the Middle East now. They shot down Iranian drones near the carrier strike group's operational area, which caused a spike in the tension. Talks between the US and Iranian officials in Oman have produced no breakthrough on key issues such as nuclear negotiations. and Iran has publicly stated it will not be intimidated by the U.S. military presence as the two nations continue to spar over nuclear and regional policy. The one thing I will say about this, hey, Navy, you guys are getting to do something with all those cool warships and aircraft that you have. It's awesome to see that they're busy and they're doing something. but jokes aside obviously this is not new that our Navy and Air Force have been deployed all over the world for the last few decades it just doesn't get the same publication that some other conflicts have received so we appreciate the work that they're doing and we'll see if this is just a show of force or if something more serious breaks out we'll keep an eye on it And then there was a soldier sentenced to life in prison for murder at Fort Leonard Wood. Army Sergeant Sarah Roque, who was 23, was reported missing when she didn't show up for a morning formation. Her body was discovered in a garbage bag in a dumpster behind the barracks on post and she had been shot in the head. Investigators found a bullet lodged inside a banana in her refrigerator. That bullet linked them to the gun that was used in the murder. The gun was found in an off-post apartment in possession of Army Specialist Wooster Rancey, 22 years old. Rancey's cell phone data showed he was in the apartment, and his search history included how long does it take for a garbage bag to end up in a landfill? Rancey was reduced to the rank of E1, received dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. So crazy story. Very, very terrible. You have to imagine there was some sort of relationship, some sort of interaction. I don't believe that that young person just randomly killed that other soldier. But those were the details that we have as it stands right now. The only thing I'll say about that, it's really horrible. Well, you would think, you know, if you send your child off to the military, if they're on a military post and living on post, that they're safe. Yeah. You wouldn't anticipate that something like this would happen. So. But it does. And and it and unfortunately, you know, there there there's definitely a lot more we can do to protect women in the military. I'll just leave it at that. Yes. Thousand percent. This should be yet another wake up call that. Yeah. you know security enhancements and certain preventative measures taken around the barracks to ensure that people don't feel unsafe yeah because even even not people soldiers being shot and killed there's a lot of harassment that still goes on and soldiers should never feel unsafe in the barracks and that happens all too often that they do feel unsafe so yeah hopefully um the leadership across the army is taking note and doing what they can to make the necessary changes. All right. That's all I got. Any caveats, anything we missed? Only caveat I have is that I got to give a big shout out to Navy women's lacrosse. Started with their season opener on Friday against UVA, beat them in an upset, beat them 12-10 and Navy came out. The rankings came out this morning and Navy is ranked number 10 in the nation, Navy women's lacrosse. So obviously I'm biased. My daughter plays on the Navy women's lacrosse team, but it's a fantastic group. We're going again for another Patriot League title. And yeah, I'm just super proud of the team. It's awesome. Very cool. It's crazy to see though, too. So many of the lacrosse games have been played indoors. just because of the severe cold temperatures. It's not like the lacrosse season started earlier than usual. It started at the same time as always, but we were just experiencing these record cold temperatures. So games that would have been played outside, albeit in cold temperatures, have been pushed inside because they're just thinking, okay, it's too cold to play. Well, it's funny. To speak to that real quickly, somebody I follow that's like a funny Philly influencer was like, aren't we so happy that we won the Superbowl last year and not this year, because last year it was like, I was wearing a short sleeve shirt. Okay. Now I was inside, but still I'm not even wearing a short sleeve shirt inside now. Like it was probably high forties. So they're like, we would have been running down broad street in single digit temperatures last night after the game ran out after the game. Yeah. Well, that's what we always do. We storm broad street, you know, kind of win or lose, but like, they're like it would have been a cold one out there you know so yeah the the weather is terrible i don't know another way to say it it is just like we got to snap out of this soon because i can't handle it another day yeah well i think it's supposed to warm up but then i think it's supposed to get cold again i don't know i'm just hoping and praying it goes away eventually yeah um really really two quick things uh number one the father of clc hawks coach mike mcdonald I saw West Point graduate. So very cool. Yet another, another tie to another Superbowl that we have, uh, yeah. Credit to, to, um, Hugh McDonald. And I think he was, the coach is like one of the youngest coaches ever. Mike is only, he's like, he's like 38 years old. Did you know that? Yeah. Maybe younger than that. He's young. Yeah. That's a cool story. I love any service academy tie-in to the super bowl yeah so shout to him um because he was going to take mike mcdonald he is yeah 38 good call he was going to go work in finance and then just kind of took a different path and and got himself into coaching he only got into coaching i think 10 years ago so for him to get into coaching in the nfl and in 10 years find himself as the super bowl winning coaches is wild. It's awesome. Yeah. Uh, then the last thing, so last few years, the NFL has done these introductions and they have a celebrity introduce the team before they run out into the field. Yeah. And the Patriots had John Bon Jovi. He's from Jersey, isn't he? I mean, if you, I didn't even think, I didn't even think about that. It didn't even register. Yeah. Why'd they have Bon Jovi. So he claims he was a Giants fan and he really liked Bill Belichick. So when he became the Patriots coach, he just continued to follow Belichick and became a Patriots coach fan. And he's been a Patriots fan at this point for a long time. He sits in Kraft's box all the time. So from that standpoint, it's not crazy that he was picked given his celebrity and given his, again, in quotes, fandom. But I mean, come on, man. But like he is like people associate him with being from Jersey. Exactly. You know, like we had Bradley Cooper last year. I mean, and yeah, he's a Philly guy. And like Bon Jovi has a rest stop named after him. Yeah. I mean, frankly, they would have been better off having Dave Portnoy. I mean. Not for nothing. You're right. Yeah. Absolutely right. I mean, he lives and dies for that team, you know? Like, yeah, I didn't even, cause I saw Chris Pratt did Seattle and I, and it's very known that he's a Seahawks fan, but it didn't even click for me until you just said that. That's funny. Just incredibly, incredibly odd that he is such a diehard Patriots fan. And I can't, I can't rail on Bon Jovi too hard. He does a lot of philanthropy. He has this, these kitchens in New Jersey where he feeds the less fortunate and it's awesome. He's given back a lot of his life to those less fortunate. He uses his celebrity and his money for a lot of good. And part of the reason I like what he does is it's not super well-known. He doesn't do it to pound his chest and say, look at me. He does it because he feels blessed and he wants to give back. But it's just tough. Tough to see a Jersey guy as a Patriots fan announcing the Super Bowl team. Oh, I'm sorry. Whatever. Whatever. All right. That's all we got. Take care. Make it a great week. abb commercially nigga
