Kinda Funny's Greg Miller and Paris discuss Starfield's April 7, 2026 PlayStation launch, reviewing three years of updates, new DLC (Terran Armada), and free content (Free Lanes). They highlight how continuous post-launch support transformed the game from mixed reception to a 9/10 experience, emphasizing quality-of-life improvements, user-generated creations, and expanded exploration mechanics.
Insights
- Post-launch support and iterative updates can fundamentally reshape player perception and game quality, turning a divisive launch into a beloved title with sustained engagement
- Player agency through customization (difficulty sliders, XP scaling, quality-of-life toggles) is more valuable than feature additions for retaining diverse player bases
- Community-driven content (Bethesda Creations) extends game lifespan and addresses specific player pain points faster than developer-only updates
- Cross-platform releases of exclusive titles signal industry shift toward expanding addressable markets over maintaining exclusivity windows
- Narrative-driven DLC with character depth (Terran Armada) resonates more than mechanical expansions when paired with meaningful quest design

"They really did listen to the audience... Todd was about it, Tim Lamb has been about it in the conversations of like no, no we listen to people playing Starfield of what they want."

"This is the kind of shit I want out of your games. Let's keep going with that. Right? This is when I would toss out that again is another Bethesda creation."
Greg Miller•~2:15:00
"For new people that may have either lapsed or PlayStation playing it for the first time, just being able to go in and customize your play experience. To me, I think that's the biggest thing."
Paris•~1:05:00
"It's a game that's an everlasting gobstopper that for the first time ever I want to engage with, right? Where it is like, cool. The review's done so far, right? And I'm going to go away for spring break and it's like, I'm kind of bummed out."

Guys let's just get right into it because we got a big show today. Let's kick it off with topic of the show. This is your Starfield review for 2026 the kind of funny games cast special. Of course a big one for you. Starfield's biggest day ever is today April 7th 2026. It's coming to PS5. It's launching with the free lanes update drops for free today. Confusing to say the free free lanes up free free. And then there's a paid DLC Terran Armada dropping as well for $10 or included with the premium edition. Of course Starfield did originally launch September 6th 2023. It's currently sitting at a Metacritic score of 83 right now. Wow September 6th 2020. Remember that you were streaming it. You're not streaming. We were in a empty lab back in the day. All of us streaming for 48 plus hours celebrating the brand new Bethesda game. It is a big deal. I said it on Greg way recently or maybe it was even the Michael Higham star when we did the preview of all the content we saw in Bethesda. But like that if there's one piece of content I regret not beating the guy for it's that. But it's like how would I have known. How would I have known the Starfield would become this much of a staple in my life. I don't even think then we knew it yet. No. Like I think this is a grow over time for you. Yeah. That is really developed and has been nurtured and developed over time. And it's pretty wild. September 6th 2023. It is now April 7th 2026. And we were talking about Starfield launching on a competitors platform on PlayStation which we've seen Xbox games go over there. But at the time when Bethesda first launches I don't think we were full gung ho. The X cast was very anti that that was going to happen. Paris did not believe it was ever going to happen which is crazy to think. But here we are talking about on PlayStation. It is. Oh what three years later now almost three years three full years we'll call it of like updates. I mean we're going to we're going to talk about this but constant updates. I'm impressed with this wasn't a hey we put it out there. Oh it was mixed reviews and we gave up. It was like Bethesda put their heart and soul into keeping this thing going. There's lots to talk about on that. And I really do think that's why we're calling this the Starfield review 2026. We kicked around. You know is this the DLC so far review again. We're recording this on Friday. At that point that means I've had two or maybe three nights with the DLC with free lanes with Terran Armada and there's so much in here that there's no way to like review review everything in there and stuff like that. So it was a push and pull of what it was but it really is the story I think for so many people whether they're coming to PlayStation for the first time or I my thought is you're going to see a lot of positivity about Starfield on April 7th when this posts right. But the PlayStation audience be excited for it. People who have played the game for a long time. There's going to be a lot of looking lose like what have I missed in those three years. Yeah. Should I be going back. What are some of the updates Paris. I want to get you involved. I want to hear about your thoughts so far with of course the new content coming to PlayStation. Let me know how you played on PlayStation. How long have you been playing it and some of your early thoughts right now before we dive in deep. Yeah I actually played on PC and I got it a couple nights ago as ever this recording. So I put in about about 10 hours and it was funny because I put it down after Shattered Space. I hadn't had been regularly playing. So I the first few hours was kind of that readjustment like OK. Wait how do the controls work. What's this where am I going. Remember I messaged you Greg like hey how do I get to this thing. Right. You know you explain it to me and then from that point I focus primarily on the Terran Armada DLC enjoying it. Definitely enjoying it. It is for sure a step up from what they did with Shattered Space. I think the free lanes update itself having that cruise mode now. So when you're within a solar system you can travel between the planets and you can set it to autopilot to go there. You can do things around the ship at the same time. I think adding the Terran in as a new enemy type was sorely needed and in the game as well. The combat and I'm curious what Greg thinks. I feel the combat. They tweaked it. It feels a little bit better and not that it was was bad before but I think it's even better right now but 10 hours in doing doing that story content really enjoying it. Unfortunately getting the short time period I wasn't able to try out building any outposts or doing any real ship building or crafting or anything like that. I was like let's get into the new content. Let's see what it looks like. Let's see what these new areas look like as well. And like I said so far so good enjoying it. Parris diving back in getting reacquainted with it having a good time. What about you Greg someone who really has not left. Yeah it's interesting to think about it right like depending on what clock you want to look at. I have a lot of hours on Starfield. My Xbox or what might save for Becky Lynch is right now at 161 hours. So that is just with that character and that's also I'm sure with a safe scum here lost of something here because the Xbox app tells me I have 192 hours in Starfield. So yeah no small chunk of change and a very very rare experience in my entire career. Mike of a game that I go back to this much that I put this many hours in. You've listened to me a long time. I'm sure many of you have as well. You know how this job is your review something on to the next thing on to the next. You might have the best intentions of coming back to something. It's rare you do. But with these past three years and the updates they've put out shattered space more updates creations both Bethesda and community creations and now free lanes in Terran Armada. Yeah I have never really left. I've never had a gigantic break and I think you know even this shot up to or over to Bethesda a couple weeks ago last month or whatever it was. It was that idea of like oh OK when we come back from that I need to get going because there's going to be the free drop of all the bounty missions are doing the trackers Alliance update that they're doing the day they announced all this and then that was only what three weeks until today four weeks until today. So I came back from Bethesda and outside of what I've reviewed in between have been pretty much constantly in Starfield getting things ready. I went back through the unity continuing Becky story. I imagine when I get back for vacation there's probably going to be another spoiler cast probably just a great way this time around maybe for me going one man on it again. OK so excited to be back. A lot of stuff to talk about and I want to talk about all the new stuff coming in but this is the Starfield review 2026. Yeah. Right. If people haven't tuned in maybe they've been living underneath the rock for the three years. Yeah. Maybe they're just excited to get it on PlayStation. Where do we stand on Starfield and you can include the new content right now. But yeah we were to give it a review score. What would you tell people before they jump in maybe for the first time. You know it's my last time on camera here. Right. Before I go away and go to New York and have to do spring break and can hide from all the commenters. But like I also think that if you're here you're here for the Greg Miller shtick of it all and also you know my deep appreciation and love for this game. I had a realization the other night playing this new content but also just Starfield in general and my favorite game of all time is Middle Gear Solid Peace Walker behind that's God of War 2018. I'm not saying this is the best game of all time but I don't think I have ever enjoyed playing a game as much as I enjoy playing Starfield. And what I mean is that there's no 200 hours in there's no part of this gameplay loop that I roll my eyes at and get annoyed by it because it is I mean like I don't know me Mike when I was in the middle of some brawl and oh another thing to lock pick and 200 hours later I still get excited that I get to do this lock pick mini game that I just enjoy so much and it's that loop of every other Bethesda game we all know right go in kill the guys get them a guffin do the thing and then what do you do you go back to the shops you sell all your stuff watch your number your wallet go up buy more ammo do whatever it is and go back out and do it again like it's a rinse and repeat thing we've all done so many times but Starfield for me and my story is well told on the internet is just so good at hitting those narrative beats that I didn't even know I was looking for and right now like what a time to be playing Starfield especially like right now right I'm about to finish Project Hail Mary I have 20 minutes left in the audiobook I'm in love with that we just launched Artemis 2 I'm playing I was playing Starfield watching updates from NASA it's like damn like what a cool science fiction moment for me I think every time we've talked about Starfield the numbers gone up I think even it shattered space when me and Paris did a review there I forget if Paris said it or I said it I'm either I was I'd gone up to I think we both went up to eight but go ahead and check the numbers on that of it being a great game I think with the updates that you're getting here I think for me personally this moves to a nine like this is an amazing game and I think I have obviously the proof with the numbers of it but then also something I don't get to do we don't often get to do of being with Bethesda on this ride and seeing those updates and I think when you talk about Taren Armada which I have a world credit on right freelance which I'm involved in and doing all the stuff and I you know I went through the notes with you and I'm like I have something to say about everything so just whenever you're ready but like this Todd when he was on Gamescast went out of his way to say this is not Starfield 2.0 if you did not like Starfield you're not going to like this and I agree to an extent because I really do feel like when we I want to talk about creations later on and stuff and when those first creations started dropping I came back and I was like yo bless like I know what you didn't like about Starfield the same thing I didn't like about Starfield the same point of interest is being repeated I don't really care about the main story we're just going off and doing this one thing they're dropping creations and quests and I'm talking about Bethesda that are exactly what we want the quirky the weird that you're not using your gun at all and to see now and I think Shattered Space missed that you know what I mean Lord I think Shattered Space was still very much the core Starfield experience they layered in choices but I think putting it on you know with the house of Rune it's a planet and people I don't necessarily care about what they're doing here is really doubling down on everything we liked about Starfield they really did listen to the audience you know that's always such a lip service thing but Todd was about it you know Tim Lamb has been about it in this the conversations of like no no we listen to people playing Starfield of what they want and that's why it's been so well received and I really do think why it's a great jumping off people for on PlayStation or lapsed ones because even me I was like I was never a person who was like I can't fly around the solar system this sucks I'm like no get me where I need to be faster I want to go faster I like flying around the solar system like I really do love putting in cruise mode setting autopilot and then getting up and going in crafting and I'm crafting in a way I wasn't crafting in the game before because I can do that now there's a time to go do that like there's so many things that are again not changing this but adding depth and layers to it that I think are more enjoyable than ever. Raise a smile on my face to hear you say that Greg and it's a rarity here kind of funny to have someone kind of go on this I don't want to call it a live service run with them but really be here for the lifespan of the game to see the constant updates and changes and where it is two and a half years later right as opposed to where it is hey we played this pre-release maybe a couple weeks after we're on to the next thing. We're already worn by Elder Scrolls now bye. Very rare occurrence that we get to experience that. So you've gone up to nine. Yeah. Will this go down for you and do you think later on when we look back on Starfield as one of Bethesda's best. I said that a long time ago that this is my favorite Bethesda game and I know that's no shade to Skyrim. I'm just not that fantasy guy. I loved I love Fallout period. Fallout 3 was so special and so amazing but Fallout 3 I rolled credits on and then tried to tinker around a bit more and I was like it's not for me and every fallout since then has been chasing that ghost. The fact that Starfield again still delivers for me in terms of what I'm doing with my care. It's the only RPG I've ever role played in where legitimately it is like when I turn this on and I think about choices I'm thinking about what Becky Lynch my character has gone through since the moment I started the game which is goofy and weird but I assume the way it's meant to be played and I understand that doesn't work for everybody. I understand if you've never heard the spoiler cast a key decision that made Becky Lynch Becky Lynch is a glitch where it was a Bethesda glitch and it's what pushed me along the way but the way that's paid off with conversations the way again if you've never played this and we'll do I'm sure somewhat spoiler is but not whatever but like the way new game plus works like the fact that it you know even though they're changing that here going through the unity for a new game plus and leaving everything behind that isn't annoying to me like it is very much like I'm going to get it right this time and I lose all that stuff and it has meaning to it. So even right now while I'm rebuilding my fortune that I no longer have because I went through the goddamn unity like that works for what the character is and what I'm doing and why I play it. Well let's talk about that Paris I'll check in with you really quick. Has your review score changed at all since the last time we checked in for 2026. First of all I loved Greg's recap of everything because I think that is a perfect synopsis of what Starfield was and what it has become now in 2026. But before I give you my score if you remember I was actually the lead guy on Starfield when we did it back in 2023 and back then we're doing or you know like five out of five scores. So I gave it a four out of five but that translates to what I think the score is today which is an eight out of eight out of 10. And it's because not everyone's going to be like Greg. I think Greg and people that are fans of Starfield it's going to hit that nine maybe damn near a 10 out of 10 for all the updates and things that they've done. Mike you may not remember this. Gary went on an epic rant back in 2023 about Starfield and what he didn't like about it. And I think that rant he said he had is everything that they've addressed over the past three years. Right as far as updates go because what I do like and when I think people on PlayStation and new people that jump in and start playing it now is you get to kind of play this. You can make this as easy as you want or you can make this as difficult as you want. You get to tweak so many different things because I just remember Gary going why is the game telling me to pick up everything I see but then I'm encumbered constantly. Right. You can get rid of that if you want. If you want to play it that way you can do that. You know what I mean. So it's just those quality of life tweaks that they've done along the way that I truly appreciate and kind of like I think how you've been playing it. Greg is I don't I don't think I'm playing it as hardcore as you but this to me this is a space sim. That's how I try to play the game. I want to see it that way. Like I said I want to travel through the solar system. I want those random encounters with a ship. I want to be an ass and the person is just innocent and I dock on their ship and I take all their stuff anyways. Right. I want to be able to. Yeah. Of course. But like I said before I put it down at Shattered Space because obviously there was 10 million other things we needed to play and do. But even coming back to it now in just this brief time I'm like man I really want to get back in the star field. I really want to go do some of the stuff. I want to go through New Game Plus again. I mean I shouldn't even say New Game Plus. I want to start over from the scratch just complete scratch. That's what I want to do and play it with all these updates and all these changes that they've made and see how that potentially changes my perspective decisions I might make things like that along the way to get to obviously where we are now with Terran Armada. I would probably give this. I think I said already I give this 8 out of 10. I think it's great on the scale. Right. It's a great game. But I do understand that there's going to be people that this isn't for them. This isn't their thing. They want they want something that maybe is more action based even though Starfield can definitely have its action moments in it. But there's a lot of quiet moments. There's a lot of you're landing on a planet and you're scanning resources and you're doing all these things. And I understand not everyone is going to be excited about that. But even that stuff they've added quality of life things to where they're making it easier to discover events when you're on a planet easier to scan resources. You got the vehicle now so you can travel around the planet a lot faster. Just little stuff like that that I think people that played this back in 2023. If they were to jump back in now I think they're going to be pleasantly surprised where Starfield is today. Well, let's just jump off that because I think that's such a great introduction and conversation point again from 2023 to 2026 about it and probably why Starfield works for me better than any other Bethesda game and why probably I'm so addicted and love with it whatever you want to call it. But I think Paris nails it right. And it is this ability to make it uniquely your own. And I think that is has always been there and to a detriment where I remember at review when I was like, yo, I hate building outposts. Like I never liked it and fall out. Why would I do it here? I never did that. I never touched it. You jump ahead to where we are now and the mods of course that I know we want to talk about in the creations that you can use have allowed me to go in and customize the game to such a degree that that's great. But again, the built in quality of life where when Gary went on that rant, I remember on Games Daily's argue with him like, bro, you're crazy to talk about over-encumberance. That is a Bethesda like pillar. They're never going to change that. And then one of their first big updates was we're changing that and you can go into the settings and change the difficulty of like how much damage you're receiving from enemies, how much damage you're giving the enemies, how much damage you're doing when you dogfight. How much you can carry, how many credits that people have, how now with this new stuff even how often incursions are happening. And there's like several different things on the scale to do and it affects the XP you earn. So it was like when that dropped and I went in there and because one of my main complaints about Starfield at the start was like, it is so slow to fucking level up. You have this awesome skill tree filled with all these cool things. And I'm like barely level 10. Like what's going on to be able to go in there and boost that up and buff that up. And like, then I'm using creations and doing things to get more XP now. And then also I was using things that all this suits great, but it's like, babe, it's like making me so protected that I put everything on extreme and stuff that like the mixing matching of it all. And then again, yeah, like I could never, ever start from scratch. But when I go through the unity, I get that opportunity of what I want to do. And like the run I'm doing right now, right. And what I'm new game plus six right now, new game plus, yeah, I mean, new game plus six or whatever, maybe if that doesn't, whatever new game plus six. And it's like, I, at the end of it, when I was at Bethesda, watch them use one of the phase powers that I'd never used. And I was like, Oh, damn, that's actually cool. And I'm like, you know what, I'm going to take that and pair it up with a katana. And so now I'm doing melee for the first time ever in a real way, even though I got my pistols and shotguns. And it's like that ability of like, what do I want to do right now? How do I want to treat this right now? Whether it be the intricacies of menus or just how you want to play, I think it's pretty impressive. Well, let's talk about what players can play and what they can expect. Because it's a lot. It's very exciting. We're having a second story DLC that people can have and a big free update with free lanes, just a quick rundown for you. Free lanes and cruise mode since launch. You've been asking for more options for space travel. So we've added the ability to freely fly between planets in the star system with free lanes and cruise mode. You'll be able to take off in any direction, letting the frontier guide you through the massive expanse of space. Let's jump right in. All right. Just dive right in with me. Great. One of the things they talk about and we've talked about is, OK, cool. So you're in the solar system, right? So if you hadn't played before, you'd be in our solar system, soul, right? And you want to go, you're orbiting Mars or in front of Mars, and you want to go to the moon. You couldn't just fly freely to the moon. You'd have to go into the map, hit jump, you jump, then you'd be in front of it. Right. Alana did a great video at launch where she like went to bed, right? And let it, she flew to planet for 12 hours and never made it there. They've gone and added that in, which is like, cool, great. Like, again, I didn't think I wanted it. Now that I have it, it's like, at first it was like, oh, it's going to take me. How long to get there? But again, then I'm listening to this audio book project here on the area. I'm doing this thing and I'm tinkering again because one of the things I have more XP and I have all these skill points. So I'm, you know, actually making the mods and doing this. I'm enjoying all that. But what I really want to jump to is like when I jumped into the game and they, you know, you're talking about here of like there's so there's just more stuff to do outside of that. It's like, you'll find things. I left a keyless city, which is a well known space port in the game. Got up there. I was like, all right, let's get out of here. And I opened up the map and I was like, oh, over there, there's a derelict ship. And I'm like, I haven't, I did it. And it's no quest on it or whatever. I'm like, that's not normal. And I flew over to it, investigated, went through the entire thing. It turned out that it was like a puzzle in the back and I did this stuff and blah, blah. And then I got to the, the, it was like the first booted it up. Like I just booted up the game with the updates installed. Got all the way to the end, had to figure out a gravity puzzle. Did it got in there, opened up a chest and it had X tech, which we'll talk about a second. And I was like, oh, this is the new game. I thought I just had missed a ship forever. And it's like, that's how they've seamlessly integrated this stuff where there's just PO, there's points of interest all over now. And it's like, if you want to go and explore, if you want that, hey, I'm flying in space and what's that? Like it immediately was like, oh, this is what I always loved about fallout of I'm going from point A to put, what the shit is that over there? You know what I mean? And suddenly I've spent 15 minutes to get to a giant treasure chest full of loot. And I'm stupid. So it blew my mind at Bethesda when they were like, yeah, blah, blah. And it's like, well, you know, when you go into dungeon, our dungeons, and they started calling all these dungeons and I was like, they are dungeons. I never thought, I never thought in the context of this is a, these are dungeons. That's amazing. Uh, yeah, Greg, you brought it up earlier, but I think with the free form of being able to fly now gives you so much time. And I'm calling it the Mike's mindful minutes of instead of just warping immediately and being right there, ready to go. I love the idea of like standing up in this ship, very mass effect like, right? Of like exploring the whole ship that you've created and decorated and made talking with some of your teammates and crewmates. Hey, I want to go down. I want to craft and stuff. Right. Like having more time within this while you're still actively doing something. I think it's a big benefit to players. 100%. Paris, what do you think about freely flying? It's interesting because you bring up seeing like new POIs and stuff, but, you know, it's always interesting at the beginning in 2023 when it was, you would fly to that and it's like, Oh, somebody's hailing you or, Oh, you're getting attacked now. But now it feels like there's even more adventure to it. Like you said. Yeah. It makes it more of the true space sim in that way where you, you're in that particular star system and you can check out all the different planets and points of interest. And they're freely without just, you're essentially just hitting a button and, okay, I'm there. Okay. I'm there. It never felt like you were truly in space. It makes sense when you're jumping from galaxy or not galaxy, but system to system. Okay. We're doing the grab jump boom. We're there. But once you're inside of that system, I want to be able to roam around. I want to be able to see things. And to the point Greg already made, there's so many random points of interest that you'll see along the way. Plus it allows you downtime to take care of some of the quote unquote busy work with, with crafting. Or like you, like you said, if I got to talk to one of my companions that are on the ship, any of those things, I want to check my inventory. Do I still need this crap? Do I want to drop it? Like there's, there's all these different things that you potentially could do during that because you're treating it like you were a true space traveler at that point, because it's going to take you time to get from point A to point B. So I think it's a welcome addition. I think it's people that are truly trying to lean into the RPG aspects of what Starfield is. We'll really enjoy this and appreciate it. Greg, you brought up a new resource, which is really fun because I think it brings into as parents kind of brought up with the combat. I think there is an elevation in combat, especially now with this new resource X tech, which goes into your weapons, your armor and your ships as well. That will add another degree of fun to it. Can you explain that to me? Yeah. I think, you know, again, I'm at this presentation and they start talking and I was like, Oh man, you're talking about stuff that I don't care about because they were talking about, you know, let's take your legendary guns to whatever the night you were adding in two new levels of, you know, how exotic they can be. And I was like, I've never been that guy. I have a really good shotgun and I have this thing that I really like and I don't worry about it. And I modded them here and there, but I had it invested in the actual like, let's go through and get the highest, the, you know, level three mods that I can do X, Y and Z with. And so yeah, you X tech is going to be this one you find in these POIs and chests, you get off bosses, you play through the story, you're going to run into it, right? And yeah, you come in to use it to make your stuff even better. And it is so addictive because it is that, oh yeah, I really like this shotty that's always been blue. I don't even know the fucking names and I played $200. Sorry, I don't know the exotic names, right? Cause it's never mattered. This game, this guns doing it is great, but now it is that idea of like, all right, cool, I can make it even more powerful. I'm using it in a different way to be able to use the X tech to go in and like you put that you can do these legendary roles on it now. And I think it's up to four. And then the end when you don't, whatever you get randomly, you can then go back and choose, you can then you can power it up through these new levels. It costs a lot of money, which is great cause you're, you know, actually out there grinding for the cash to come back with the X tech to make everything better. And it is that thing where it's like, wow, like I am still think I'm playing right now and thinking about the next 10 to 20 hours where it's like, cool. I'm going to get this katana to max level. So I can just take out a level 101 swing, right? Cause right now it is sometimes like, sometimes it gets hairy out there. You know what I mean? So I shock him in the face a bunch of Mike, time's completely slowed down a matrix thing. It right. It come in slightly, we'll get to upgrading your starborn powers in a second. Come in, slash him at the last thing to get the thing to move it over. It's like it's changing the way I play and the way I play it because it is. I'm keeping suits of armor or space suits now that I'm like, I'm still wearing my starborn gear that I like so much to tell that story. But I'm like, I want to, and this one move into this cool assassin outfit I got. You know, I want to go over that and do this. So it's like that's so low level right now that I'll hold onto that. And then once I get through getting my weapons where I want them, then I switch over and start worrying about how I'm an upgrade my actual space suit. Paris, did you get to mess around with the, the re-rolls, the new traits? I thought it was really interesting of like the traits on your weapons and your armor and your ship, but also new enemy traits, right? Enemies as well have new traits. I watched a deep dive presentation. I think that elevates the combat even more of like now you're looking at your enemy going, oh, he could possibly evade my gunshots here. So I'll be really mindful of what I'm doing as well. We also have new enemies in general with the armor. Terror, Mada, terror, Mada, new weapons as well. A lot of people are very excited about the new weapon style, kind of modern esque weapons, which I think is cool. Yeah, really focused on ballistics. Right. These are people who, you know, went off on their own to be their own little sect of humanity away from the settled systems. And they've leaned into just having bullets rather than lasers or anything crazy. Yeah. To answer your question, unfortunately, you know, just due to time constraints, I didn't tinker with that too much because I wanted to experience as much of the DLC story as I could. But just to your point about the new weapons, yeah, as soon as you encounter the Terran and you start experiencing some of those new weapons, that that that's what I've been rocking the whole time because it's it's something different than what we've been doing previously. So it's been pretty good. Yeah. It feels unlike Bethesda when you think of like fallout weapons and like, yeah, kind of the Starfield weapons. It almost looks call of duty, ask that the military AR. It's like, oh, that's very cool looking inside of them. But that's been, you know, I think one of the knocks, but I think it was just maybe an expectations business, right? That Starfield never looked like Mass Effect. Starfield always looked like, oh, this is a far future NASA. It's a very clean space look. It's not that gritty underbelly where there is. I mean, obviously in neon and some of the places you go, but in terms of just in general, they've always been very clear of like, well, no, you know, humans are still the only intelligent life in the world, right? Or the universe, which is weird, but maybe one day we get DLC about that. But it is the idea that like, all right, cool. Here is something different that is a bit more rugged and isn't that polished plastic slash metal alloy laser gun look. Yeah. Let's talk about your new starborn abilities and upgrading them. Right. Because I think that plays in the combat as well. The starborn abilities is the big deal. Having all those different moves. What did you see? What did you like? So the way is there's not new starborn abilities, right? So again, you go through the unity year of starborn, you get magical powers, right? You get you get throughout the game as you're collecting these things in the old days of this, right? You go through, you get the ability to slow down time like I'm using or force push, right, or run really fast, like the flash kind of thing. You'd get that power and then if you wanted to upgrade that power, which would mean it would take less of your special ability bar, it would last longer usually, right? It would mean that you'd have to go through the unity, go get that power again. And that would then level it up to, you know, quantum dash two or whatever they call it, right? And then if you want a three, four, five up to 10. So that's all well and good. If you want to do the unity 10 times, but frankly, that's boring. Like the unity itself is cool. Collecting the powers sucks. Going into the room. It still sucks to this day. I don't know why they haven't updated it. It's slowly floating around, getting my magical dots to then go. That sucks, Bethesda. That needs to be skipped and be skippable, but they know it sucks, at least to a level, or they know that you want to be committed to one play through in one universe. You don't want to do the unity. And so now you can use quantum essence. So when you fight other starborn out in the world, they've always given you quantum essence. Now you can take that quantum essence and level up your stuff. For honestly, I thought that was going to be really expensive. Like I would need a lot. I took the dash up to level seven really quickly, really easily with what I had. I was really impressed with that. Paris, did you like that as well? Yeah, but again, I didn't take her too much. I kind of just stuck through what I had already because, you know, I've gone through the unit a few times as well. But it's again, another great quality of life feature that. And I think Greg nailed it. Not everyone's going to want to go do new game plus over and over again. Some people are going to want to stick in that one universe and they want to maximize the potential of that universe through one play through. And to toss it in here, of course, like if you did want to go through the unity, like I said in the beginning, you got to leave all your stuff behind if you didn't know, right? You go through it. You go to a new universe, you start from scratch, no money, no nothing. Now they've added this quantum tanglement device, right? Quantum tanglement device device where it's in your room so you can put stuff into it. You could also level up how much you could hold. And then when you go through the unity, if you would put your stuff in there, it would be on the other side for you, which again, is I think even listen to them talk about it at Bethesda. They were like, we've always wanted the unity to be a moment. Like you have to make that sacrifice. Do you want to go do the new thing or do you want to stay in your world? So there has to be a cost, but we get that not everybody wants it. And I think it's such a we get everybody doesn't like over encumbered. So we think it matters being encumbered, but whatever. And so I like that they again, listen to the audience that I love. We need to play where they want to be at. Yeah, I like that, Greg. And there's still so much more to talk about. I want to talk about outposts. There's a new pet. There's a new crew. Really? Well, there's crewmates. We'll talk about that in just a moment. But let's take a word from our sponsors. I haven't even made it to the main content yet. But they say it's not 2.0. But hey, if you are coming in today for the first time on PlayStation or maybe your LAPS Xbox Gamer, you got a lot of content coming your way. Greg, we have been talking about free lanes, the free update. We've been going through X-Tec, customizing your weapons, now being freely able to fly in between different planets. I want to kind of talk about ship customization, some of the new quality of life things they've added. Sure. Kind of brought it up with the, hit me with the name again. Quantum Tangleman Device. Quantum Tangleman Device, which is you being able to bring gear through to the other side of the Unity. Unity, thank you. Sorry, Roger distracted me. He's so handsome. He comes in here slamming on cans. I don't know what he's doing. Blue Man Group came to town. Let's talk about what they've added to the ship. Is there some new things that we should know about? The ship building, I know, isn't your thing. Thank you. But they have been adding stuff over and over to make ship building more enjoyable and more customizable. Yeah. More stuff. No, I don't know about ship building because I don't ship build. But I mean, I have things to say about it, right? Because it is, I know, I'm finding as you go through and for modding your weapons, you're finding like devices that you can then use on your weapons now, right? Or whatever. You do find those for your ship. You do get those as rewards off certain people for your ship and stuff. So it's out there. That's still a bridge too far from me. I like, I still use the Starborn Guardian ship. I know I could build a better ship. I know I could do all this stuff. But again, for who I am and the fact that since I've gone through the unity that first time, that's the only ship I've ever rocked. Your role play. I still, that fit to who I am. I do like the Batwing off of the Mantis mission inside tracker updates. We'll get to that in a while. You're going to be here for the next three hours or so. But no, I haven't done it. I know it's there and it's whatever, but it's just that's not my cup of tea and I don't have that creative gene to me. Parris, anything from you on the shipbuilding side? Yeah. I mean, similar in the fact that it's not, I'm not the super hardcore shipbuilding guy. And I just simply didn't have enough time during this to tinker with any of the new parts and upgrades that you'll be able to do. But it kind of goes back to our overall sentiment. There is an entire community out there. That's all they do. That's all they do. Yeah. That's all they do. I think that's the. Tell me. Just real quick. Please. And they have made so many improvements to shipbuilding over the past three years. To make it more approachable for people and to make it make it easier to be able to get into that loop and understand how it works and, you know, build all these things and then you can get all these credits, sell them, do all kind of crazy shit you can do with shipbuilding. But that's not necessarily why I come to play Starfield. Yeah. But for it, for some, a lot of people that absolutely is. You brought up in this conversation, quality of life, right? And I think we're talking about, yeah, okay, you have the modules and all this different stuff. Quality of life stuff that jumps off the page. I don't want to talk about. Outposts, I'm not an outpost builder. Hate it. Never, like I talked about with Fallout, I never did it. Now they have the, basically you toss it down and it's there and it's fully furnished one you can do. The free fab home of your outpost. I haven't done it yet. But with the amount that I'm going off and actually creating, I know I need to get into harvesting resources. So I do see me using that because I hated it. I didn't want to do it here. It is a solution for it. I like that a lot. For me, a dork in Starfield. I think the biggest quality of life thing they've added with this update, because before I would have said the sliders and the things and the difficulty and the XP is the database. Okay. So when you're on your home screen now, I don't know if I get in trouble for doing that. I don't think so. But there it is. You can now just go and hit RB Mike and it brings up this database that shows you, hey, here are all the resources that you are out there that you can go find what you're looking for. What to do. Then you can go over, you can look at all the stuff. Most importantly, because I don't want to wait forever. It does show all your outposts if you're a crazy outpost person. But more importantly, it has a locations tab that is now everything in a list rather than having to go to the star map and you can go over and you can favorite things. So now I can go and I can be like, you know what? I want to go back to Achila city rather than open the menu, go up to the star map, zoom out, go all the way over there or worse, which happened to me multiple times with creations. Hey, I need to go do this thing. Where the fuck? I have to Google. Where is that? What system was that? And what if once you do what you find it, you can favorite it and just shoot from the database over there. It's like such a nice quality of life of like, you can still explore the map and use it and do that. But like, hey, let's get you back to the fun faster. Yeah. Watching that, I was really impressed. I think that is a big one for me. And I'm sure many players like you brought up the database kind of being that central hub of everything. Right. I was really impressed of like, hey, we're tracking where you put your outposts to help you find them quicker. Oh, are you looking for a resource? Hey, we're here to help you with that. Like a fantastic. Haven't done it, but again, to shared outpost boxes. You can now. Thank you. I was never an outpost person. I never knew, but like you can build the outpost and then all your one stuff's on a moon, one stuff's over there. They're not talking to each other. Now you can put down boxes that connect to you. I was just going to hit you with the shared outpost container, which I think all of us love as a quality of life thing of, hey, like, I just want all of my stuff in one place. I want it shared. I don't want to keep jumping back and forth finding it. Love that. Of course, some other fun stuff. I know what I outpost guys, but you can outpost pets, pet now and a great quest for it. Again, I have the pet and even though I don't have an outpost, this Milly Whale is on my ship. It is following me around. Yeah. But like the, again, back to, hey, I want a quirky Bethesda quest that isn't just, here's a guy. Go do the thing. You killed the guy. You're back to doing it. Like I liked this one a lot. As someone who has an obsession with Bethesda games of collecting every single book and making the ultimate library. I really do appreciate this next one. The colonial war action heroes. Colony war action heroes. Colony war. There are 27 colony war action hero collectibles for you to track down. Each one gives you a stat buff. But what I really thought was fun was decorating them in your outpost. I'm sure on your ship as well, you can have them in box collectibles or you can bring them out of the box and put them on the play set. Yeah. Love. Well, the thing about it is I don't know if you can take them out of box. You find loose ones and you find mid-dark hard ones. So it's like there. And again, when they announced this, I was like, all right, cool. I don't care. But it's when I thought they were just collectibles, not understanding that they have buffs of like, you know, you do 5% more damage or, you know, Sarah is 20% nicer to you or whatever. And then I'm assuming you saw the other day that they're doing it IRL to IRL. I did see that as well. Me and Andy talked about it on the games. We knew one, but they are making those real life action figures that you can buy as well, which I'm sure will be scattered across Greg Miller's desk in a heart. If they send them, I'll take them. I'm not like, if they had done like, here's your starboard guardian. I'm like, ah, here's the 20, 40 bucks, what a 30 bucks. A lot of positive stuff without posts, shipbuilding will kind of gloss over those who keep it going. A new elite crew. Greg, what is that? So Starfield is as deep as the ocean in terms of stuff going on out there. Quest, you don't know about whatever. The community really loves this character. Where's her name? Maria. Who's like, I guess kind of twisted and has been chilling out on New Atlantis. I've never met her, but that got a pop from the audience I was with that she's now can be out you on quest. And I want to do it, but I'm running right now with Delta from Terra Armada. I got a whole thing going on with him. So, and I also, this was supposed to be, this is my heartbroken run. You know what I mean? I had to leave my wife and the other galaxy because she wasn't really my wife. It's all a thing. I'll tell you about it another time. So I'm running with Vasco really is my companion, but she's, I got to go talk to her. Cause she seems like she might kind of be Dan house in very, very evil. And I'm not sure if I want to let that into what we're doing right now with Becky. Parrish, did you meet this NPC at all? Do you know about this one? No, I've not met her. I've not met her either. Definitely sounds like I need to do that though. From the notes I have down. Yes. You have the new pet. You have a new crew member. And I believe you have a new ship. You got the moon jumper that I also have. But there was something small. It's like a small robot that was right. Yeah. They've shown this in the trailer. I haven't seen it yet though. Companion. Yeah. Yeah. They got like a beady joy going on there that they showed during our presentations and during the trailers. I have not bumped into them yet. I can't, I don't know if they're tearing our modder, if they are freelance update. We're coming close to the end of the free update stuff. We have more planetary POIs, which I think is a big win, right? Of like just having all of that is huge. We're also talking about the land vehicle. Now there's a land vehicle that bounces. Yeah. Moon jumper. I think they're talking about it again. You asked me to list some of my favorite creations. We'll get to that. We can talk about that. It didn't, I haven't gotten it yet, so I can't speak to it, but I'm so happy with the car. I rock. I wasn't very happy. Yes. And of course, photo mode poses with the rev eight, which I think is great. I always like more photo mode stuff for sure, for sure. Tell me. The one thing I want to talk about on the notes you have here is this asteroid home base. Another thing that a huge fucking pop from the audience and from all my subreddits or whatever, that you can now have a base in this astra that looks like a bond villain thing. I have found how to get it on my thing. I had to be a little nefarious. I found how to get ahead of break in. I didn't want to break in. I'm trying to be better, but I had to do it. Broken found it, but it's cost five million bucks. And currently I am not, I am not that cash rich because again, I went through the unity. My old save wouldn't have been a problem. This is like, I got to, I'm going to have to make some bonds and investment. Is it? Yes. For those who are mega rich, you are allowed to buy a mansion that is attached to an asteroid. And the problem is I'm going to keep being set back because I'm so into this X tech of like wanting to get the suit right and the weapons right. And like that gets expensive quick. Oh, okay. Because the X tech I found easy to find, not that costly. It's the money they're using, the credits are using. That is a lot of free stuff in the free updates. Let's move now to Taren Armada brand new story and companion in this. Paris, can you set me up? What is Taren Armada? Do you know it? Taren Armada is basically this, this, these new enemies that this robot race that's coming in, that's invading all the systems, right? And the companion is Delta Delta. Again, I'll leave it slightly ambiguous, but, but he's, he's a robot companion and he's going to assist you and have a lot of things to say along the way. I'm really enjoying the story so far. Like that's why I mentioned, I thought it was definitely a step up from what they did with shattered space. You'll meet other characters along the way. They'll, you'll have differing opinions, choices you'll need to make about certain things. I'm sure we'll get into the incursion parts of it as well, but you're going to encounter these guys like all over the place as you're playing through the, through the story and going to these different locations. Like I said, I felt the combat with them felt fun to be able to do as well. And like I said, adding them into the mix of this, this universe that you're in that is Starfield is a welcome addition. Quick one for you. Taren Armada is a paid update, $10 or included with the premium edition. Just so you all know, it says a new threat has entered the settled systems, believing themselves to be the true children of earth. The Taren Armada is made up of members of the U, UC United Colonies and Freestar Collective who vanished during the colony war. The Terrans are advanced military force, largely compromised of robotic soldiers. It's a really cool storyline. Think like this. Jumpstart. Yeah. Think almost like Mass Effect with the, was it the Vex? That's cool. Yeah, but it was a shoot. In a way. Yeah, totally. It's the backstory to them that I got last night of like when I was talking, I'm like, so what's the deal with the Taren Armada and they were like, it's like a cover up operation that you see in Freestar during the colony wars. They obviously had lots of battles in this battle. Those two guys came together to fight the two groups, you know, soldiers, wars, whatever, the ships came together to fight and then talk to each other, turn around and left. They just left settled space and it's like, what did they do in clearly their back? Because you know, you've all got it wrong. We've all got it right. We made a robot army, but that's a dope storyline to start off from. Really dope storyline. It's like correction. I said the Vex because I got destiny on the brain is the reaper. I'm sorry. Ah, I was like, I was like, yeah, yeah. Before I get cooked. Not, I would say fair enough, fair enough. Greg dope storyline, adding robot enemies into this, some new weapons. What do you think of so far of what you've seen? Really into it. I think the story is also benefited by anchor point station, which is like the hub of this story. But I think is also the hub itself is available through free lanes. So it's still there, but I'm counting it is the same thing and it's all wrapped up in one. But let's compare it to what we got with shattered space. Shatter space. I enjoyed. I was an Andrea's, andre just stand. She was my wife. It was fun to be there, but the whole house of a rune, like all the people who worship the great serpent, their cultists and they're very weird. And but like, I felt like they were all very interchangeable. There's a choice in there of like, who are you going to, you know, which of the three houses are you going to back? And it was like, all y'all kind of just blend together. You're all different shades of blue to me, whatever starting here and having anchor point and going in there and immediately meeting all these quirky, colorful characters. There's something going on. There's a guy who owns the station who is like, let this, he paid for this bartender's kids cancer service stuff, but she's got to work it off here. So she never sees it. It's like, that's good. It starts like that sounds like a good guy thing. And that sounds like a bad guy. And there's a bounty hunter and there's these guys and there's this woman who works one of the shops in a space station who hates space. And it's like, yes, this is the kind of little world. I feel like there's so much more character already than what we got out of shattered space, which I think is by design because I think so many people were like, it's not really hitting what I want out of that kind of stuff. And so yeah, you layer in the terror and Armada, what they're going, the people there who are working against them, what we're doing right now. And then this new thing of the incursions that we're going out on, like I did, I knew I wouldn't beat it by any stretch of imagination, but I did like the first main wave of it, no spoilers. But the idea, you know, is that you show up in free space designated coordinates, you fight off a bunch of little ships, then you invade a big ship and you have to go through there and do a bunch of stuff to stop like the robots and they're, you know, whatever they're doing in there, whether they're making more, etc., etc. Yeah, the notes here, the terror and Armada DLC also includes or also adds the new incursion system. These can occur almost anywhere in the settled systems and are both a key part of the DLC storyline as well as repeatable content with great loot to collect. Yeah, again, this, I really feel this update is them doubling down on what I never thought about of like, we're, these are dungeons. If you're going to go into the, if you're going to go into these POIs, these doors, these things, we got to have good shit for you at the end. And it really is, I found every time I beat the big thing and I open up the chest and I, there's a gold and there's a purple and I was like, all right, cool. I have something to actually go and compare and contrast. Be rewarded for you. Yeah, that's great. Let alone the X-Tex. So, so, so you, you did one of the major incursions though, right? Yes, I, yeah, right that, like the, I think a main story. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because that locks down the whole system, the, the system that you're in at the time. You can't fast travel out. You can't do anything. You got to take out everyone in, in the, in that system to unlock the system again. And they have free everybody in there. Now, like it turned out, turn off your ground drive. So you're like stuck there and you have to fight your way out. Yep. What do we think about the new ships? I saw that the Terran Armada have like kind of different design ships, very cool looking ships. Did you notice that with the eye catching? Yeah, no. I mean, you know, it starts on this like luxury liner. I thought that was more impressive than maybe what I've run into the other ways. These other ones that are really resource rich, which I appreciate as I'm going through for the, not first time, I modded my weapons before, but really thinking again of like, I want to do this to the suit and dead at all. Like I walk in, there's a giant take a helium. I'm like, I don't know if I'll need it, but I'll take it. Fuck yeah. Yeah. New gear, pre-built outposts, new outpost decorations, anything you want to hit on some of that stuff. New gear is really cool. Not enough really to shake me off of what I'm doing. I'm going to use the assassin stuff from what we'll get to a second, the tracker bounty stuff. But they have a bunch that are like actually really striking. That's my thing is like, for vanilla starfield, I thought so many of the suits look the same and also looked dumpy, just so bulky and dumpy. And you know what I mean? Like, I'm a good looking lady. Let me put on something that looks good. And like, I think these are way more striking. There's one that was like, it looks like your underwater tank kind of thing. I was like, that's really cool. They're selling in the shop. I forget if it's Apollo or somebody, but like, A, that wouldn't be Apollo. I guess it would be Columbia, we'll say, right? That kind of space suit from the American space. They're just like, oh, that's actually really dope looking. I don't know if I want to get that. Okay. There's some good style choices out there. I like that. You know, when you're ready for the outposts, you can jump into it, Greg. Yeah. Pre-built outposts, more decorations, all the toys. Let's talk about it. So now we've kind of talked about the free updates. We talked about this paid DLC. But there is a total package coming to PlayStation players. Sure. I kind of want to swing the conversation to PlayStation players and also left players who might not have been keeping up with it for almost three years. What are some of the big things that people will enjoy the improvements that have been had, Greg? You've talked about quality of life, but what are some of the big standout moments? On our journey here? I mean, big standout moments in Starfield that made the players lives better. I jotted it down right the April or I'm sorry, August, 2024 update. That was the first time I came back really hard where I was before Shatter Space by a long shot. And it was, this is the one that was like, hey, we're finally putting 60 frames a second on in performance mode and all that jazz on Xbox. There was V-sync. There's that. And it was the addition of the rev eight, which is the car you could drive around or can't drive around still or whatever. Like that was a great step forward. I think it's funny when you talk about it piecemeal because it was like, here's the rev eight, which it was like, awesome. I like driving this car. But it was I land on the planet. I get out of my ship. I get into the rev eight. I drive to the thing I need to do. I should, I could have flown it. I could have double jumped here or whatever. And now that they're putting more POIs there, like landing, you'll be like, well, what is that? And I'm doing it. I'm like, oh, it says crash ship over there. Let's go see what that is. Like I'm using that in a way that two years later, my God, that makes more sense for why that's cool. Paris, any standout updates that you would make sure to highlight the people? I think I touched on it earlier already. I just think for new people that may have either lapsed or PlayStation playing it for the first time, just being able to go in and customize your play experience. To me, I think that's the biggest thing that you get to because I like, I remember when, when I first played that first run through the ship combat, I got this. I think my ship wasn't upgraded enough. And I kept getting stuck and almost got to a frustration point where now you literally go in. Well, I don't want the ship combat to be so difficult. Lower it down. Go do what you want in advance through the story and be able to do that. I think he like you already touched on the planetary exploration. I think the points of interest, the navigation of that is a lot easier. And I'm trying to remember exactly how to phrase this, but remember, like when you go to New Atlantis in the vanilla Starfield and there was no direction to anything. You had to try and figure it out now. Oh, right. No maps. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They make it so much easier now to be able to navigate. Yeah. You got a way better map. Your scanner can see everything. You can, I don't, you know, we're joking around about fast travel ride, but use fast travel ride where it is. I don't want to wander around even though maybe I get a question or whatever. If I've gone to that POI and I'm on in New Atlanta, it's just open it up, boom, tag myself over there, go to the gun shop. Do what I need to do. The fun part about Bethesda is Bethesda creations. That is the user generated content that adds so much more to the game. And now two and a half, almost three years complete with this life cycle of the game, players are going to be jumping in with a, just a ton of user generated creations to jump into. Greg, I know you really, I'm impressed. Greg, you've dove into this. I love this. Very, very cool. Yay. I know you and I aren't the biggest modding dudes when we talk to Andy, we're talking about PC modding. Yeah. How weird that is. Nerd. But Bethesda creations has done a really great job, especially on consoles, bringing in the mods and like allowing people to create stuff and then you adding it to your game with so much simplicity. What are some of the cool user generated content that you like? Yeah, I think so at the top level of somebody who does not mod video games, I, you know, I have here and there and it's whatever, but the way I think this is so much better put, maybe it's just the DLC store, right? To the point that Bethesda uses it. A lot of the creations I'm going to call out here are created by Bethesda. But yeah, you have this plethora of creations to go in. Some cost money, some are free, but you can go to creations.Bethesda.net, see it. There you can log in as your profile and add things to your cart. Buy them there, have them on your game, yadda, yadda. But when they added this, I was still playing, which was so big because when mods finally came to fall out for, I was long gone. And it was like, well, that doesn't help me anymore. And I don't really know what that is. And would that matter for me? Somebody who was like, well, I love Starfield and I love what it's doing and what it's trying to do. But there's certain things I like more of things on it. It speaks right back to what I was talking about, of like making this your own. And it was a big deal. Like when I went to put on that first creation and they are not the first creation, but the first creation I loaded that was like, this is going to disable achievements. Do you want to do it? And I was like, yeah, like I like achievements as much as the next guy. But it's like, I'm more about making the game tailored to me and what I want out of it. And so yeah, I've made a list here of things. If you're coming for the first time you need to do, you need to get, you need to enjoy. Okay. Lay it on us. So the first thing's first is the new, the latest one from Bethesda itself. It's the trackers alliance, the complete bounty series. This is the one they dropped alongside the announcement of freelance alongside the announcement of the Terran Armada, right? And so you're going in here and you get five new high value targets to go after out there in the world in wasteland. These again are the fuck. Yeah, you got it. Like this is the ones where I played it. And I was like, you fucking get what we want as a fan, right? Where it was like, they, what's the one quest we all talked about after at launch and the mantis, right? Where you go through and you become Batman basically is what I say, right? They want this, I think the star of this one is the mantis quest where there's another person pretending to be the mantis. And like the way that activated me of like, I'm the fucking mantis, wait a second, you know what I mean? And then the things you go on on that quest, the lovers quest, the, you know, like you go through it and what they're doing is again, giving you lengthy missions that also aren't what you expect. You think, oh, I've done the trackers lines are bounties, right? You could do these in the game. There's a bunch already. They got added eventually, but it doesn't matter. Like you go through and like, okay, go kill the guy. Sure. Whatever. There's these are the ones that have the twists, the turns. You didn't expect that. And I was like, all right, fuck you get it. Thank you. And that's what got me excited for this new content and this update of like, okay, well, if you're getting that, then I'm with you in a similar vein. I would call it escape. If you've never done escape this, I believe might have been, might have been the first drop from Bethesda where they're like, no, no, we're going to be putting quests on creations as well. And it's exactly what I'm talking about. You wake up and guess what? It doesn't matter how powerful you are and how much cool shit you have, you've been abducted. And so now you need to get out of basically this escape room. It's not all that long. I want to say it was 30 to 45 minutes when I played it, but it was like, you fucking got it. This is the kind of shit I want out of your games. Let's keep going with that. Right? This is when I would toss out that again is another Bethesda creation because they're just putting their shit up there. This is free. This is the star born a gravisuit. When you come through a star born, when you come through the unity, you get a thing. It often reminds me of the Halo trailer that went nowhere of the poncho guy and it rips it off and it's master chief. Like, after a while, I got sick of looking like I was in a poncho. So they gave you this star born gravisuit that is a cool looking, Hey, I'm wearing an actual dope space suit. I appreciate that. My critique on it was, I think it's way overpowered. So this is the one where I was like, I'm cranking everything up to extreme and doing all that because I want to actually get a challenge out of this game. If you're going to get that, I would tell you to get this one creation from a fan. It's the gravisuit overhaul from the Wolfie. Again, I believe this one is free. Yeah, you can take your helmet off. It drove me crazy that I couldn't take my helmet off the gravisuit. But again, I was annoyed by that Google search and there was an answer for it from the community, which made me so happy. My next one I would tell you to do would be to go and get, no, actually, oh, sorry. I forgot about this one. Good call, Bear. The other way is you're going to be going through the unity more star born guardian cargo. It increases the cargo capacity with each new game plus. Oh, we deserve it. All right. I'm going through the unity seven fucking times I deserve to be able to carry as much goddamn shit as I want. Thank you very much. My other one though is a big one. Mordred's starfield mods, Mordred's five XP, five times XP. I held off on this one forever. I think you are painfully, painfully, painfully slowly up upgrading, leveling up in starfield as somebody who played a bunch of it, right? I did my, I said 200 hours now. That's probably when I came back from this Bethesda trip and I've probably put another 20 hours in since then. It was the thing of like, cool. I've paid my dues because I did on a stream. I want to say Miss Envy or somebody told me to go do this and I was like, no, that's cheating. I'm not going to do that. And now it is that thing of like, but like, come on, this sucks. And so I did it and I am like not leveling up at like every, every fight I did. You know what I mean? It's still like a good progression scale and it is so much nicer now to be able to be like, cool. I'm doing missions right now. I was doing watch tower stuff before, which I'll talk about. And of course now the Terran Armada stuff where I'm flying and dog fighting more than ever. I've never put any points into flying because I just never liked it that much. Now that I'm actually getting points, let's do that. And it's making the flying and fighting a better experience. It's like, damn, but that's to come on. We should have had it. You should have been leveling better than that. I like that. Let's, let's pause on that first. So you dive a little bit deeper. Would you recommend this to a first time player, right? You bring up like, man, it's kind of painfully slow and there's so much offer here. And like, I want you to be able to see that. Why don't you play that? Would you say, Hey, if this is your first time PlayStation fans, Xbox person that just hasn't jumped in, get this. I would say try it vanilla. Try it with your way. And if you want it or need it, maybe after you, if you agree with me, do it. Remember, of course, the cool thing about all these creations are, although I think you, you obviously disabled trophies or achievements with some of them. If it isn't for you, it's easy to just click off and it's gone. You don't have to worry about it being like there forever. You're not locked in. I would still say yes, do it. Again, I thought they did such a nice job with the skill tree. Let's remove in a vacuum how long it takes to level up of like, cool. I put it into making my pistols more powerful. There's four ranks to that. Even if I had two skill points, I can't use that second level until I get whatever it is, 10 kills with a pistol. Like, I'm like, Oh, I like that as you learn it and you kind of, it feels like a progression. Then as I use it right now, you know, being a melee on this playthrough, right? It has been a thing of like, when I finally upgraded all the way to four, I felt accomplished. And that was with the points. Like it still took me a while to do that because even getting points faster, I still had to kill a hundred guys melee. So it's not like that was easy. So I would say try it vanilla and see if you agree with me because the problem I think it was, is it put me into a rut where it was like, all right, cool. I'm, I fucking am only going to use shotguns because I'm putting it all into shotguns right now. And I need to keep going. And I, then it would be cool. I have the point that I could use, but my shotgun isn't ready to go up to the next rank, but I'm not going to invest it in something. I, there's no way to, um, there probably is a mod for it. Not vanilla wise. There's no way to re-roll. There's no way to, you know, undo your skill points to redo. I can't remember the name of that. Re-roll. Is that what I'm trying to say? Yeah. Re-roll. Thank you. Sounds weird for some reason. Anyways, you can't do that organically. So it was like, respect. That's what I was really looking for. So I think this is a much more like, cause even with this, I put it into stuff. I'm like, Oh, that wasn't that great, but no big deal. I'll get another point in an hour. So it doesn't matter. Whatever it is. I like that. The other one then, uh, this is just Greg's continued personal recommendations. The DMOG, uh, this is just a skin then. I don't know if it's a skin or if it is its own car for whatever. But after they introduced the rev eight, put this one in there. It's very much a DeLorean. We got the door. They open up sideways. Yeah. You might say, Oh, like a Tesla. No, like a DeLorean. All right. It's like a DeLorean. It looks like it. Yeah. I'm driving the DeLorean. All right. That's why I like it and why I keep it around. Test that with photo mode and the new photo poses. Sure. I wonder, does that clash or does it work? You know what I mean? Oh, it works. I mean, I have photos in this thing. Oh, you put you mean the new pose. The new pose. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Some of the poses like they're hanging outside of the window. Yeah. Yeah. Let me know how if that clashes with the, you got it. All again for you. Then I would come back to land the plane here with two more pieces of content at hell's gate. This is one that's yeah labeled Bethesda game studios, but this is one of those. I talked a little bit about it afterwards. King gath creations. You remember you talking about this? Yes. This is a guy King gath who's been modding games since a blue live, no quake. And then had found a lot of success in the fallout community with my, my sim settlement or whatever it was. It was him and the community worked for years and years on it and put it out and everybody loved it. And then they were like, well, that almost killed us. I don't know if I want to make creations anymore. And Bethesda came knocking. It was like, Hey, y'all are great at this. How about we do this seriously? And now they're an 11 person business that makes mods for Bethesda games. They had done at hell's gate, which is free and is a doom tie in again. Like let's get weird with it. Let's have fun with it. This was long before I think they really embraced that, but it was go through, get some, you know, fucking doom guy armor, get some doom guy inspired weapons, do some health stuff, which was really cool. And then the coup de gras, the biggest one they did as King gaff is watch tower, orbital strike slash fleet command. When you've already exhausted, I think all the stuff you are doing with Bethesda's vanilla starfield starfield in general, this is this gigantic sweeping expansion of its own where it's like, we're talking about Shattered Space. We're talking now about Terran Armada. You put watch tower in there as well. Cause this is voice acting. You might have heard me do a Greg way about this when it originally launched opens like kicking the fucking face, man. Again, of like, whoa, this is so different, right? Voice acted new lines, new characters, new companions, a new system altogether where what you're doing is you have these guys watch tower who are after you and what you need to do is build a fleet of ships. So in starfield, of course you have your ship, but as you go, you get other ships that you have attached to you that do nothing. This is you through this mod get to activate them, put your friends in as pilots, and then they go around with you. So you have fleet battles. And on top of that, you get orbital strikes like hell divers, right? Where this man on the station makes them for you, you throw them out, you call down a big strike, you call down different things. They added in, they added in mechs and stuff like it's a full flesh like, holy shit, there's a lot going on here and a lot to get into. A lot of great creations out there to jump into. Greg, I love this. Parris, do you have any creations that you would recommend as well? I can't top anything that he just says. He got all the banger ones. I will say this though, when you were talking about the the mod for the XP, I was going into a gun. No, I wouldn't do that. You literally talked me into it the way you described it, because even if you're leveling up with the skill points, it's the fact that you still don't automatically get to do it. You have to go do something to actually earn that rank up of whatever that skill is. Even you might bank a bunch of skill points because you level up quicker, but you still got to go do the work to actually get the benefit of it. So seeing it explained that way, I was like, you know what? I could see people doing that and I could see someone that doesn't want that slow burn of the way you level up in the base game taking advantage of that. So it makes sense. Again, thank you. I think that would be my thing with it in a way that I don't usually get to experiment with games of like, it really is your playground. Go do what you want with it. And I think even to what I'm talking about now, if you're going to play, go on creations and just look around. Right now, it's like, I just ran into for free here interstellar trade, right? Which is like somebody made away so that I can put on my station the thing to sell at my station. So I don't have to go to the different places if I didn't want to, right? If I'm in a pinch and I'm over-encumbered and I really want to keep the story going, but guess what? I'm going to pop over to the then I'm going to trade all this shit in. They ran out of credits. Vasco or Volko hold all this stuff. There's all these different little fun things to do. I'll toss out there too. Just got to once I'm talking about Starfield. A lot of people have asked me about Star Wars Genesis. This is not a creations.bethesda.net creation. There is Star Wars Genesis. A like, let's completely take over everything happening in Starfield for Steam. I installed it, but I did it right before our holiday break in which the creator was like, please don't do this until if you waited this long, we're adding lightsabers on the next update in the new year. I haven't gone back for it. I did just screw around with it a bit. And what I was interested, it's beautiful and there's a whole bunch of stuff and you're in Star Wars world, but it is still the same story. And so at least for the intro and stuff. So I was to be like, oh, that's not what I thought it was going to be. I need to go back and give it a real, real try. But there's so much I'm doing in my main save already. So much. Ben, you ready for this? This will be my Starfield creation. You ready for this? Yeah. Think about when you first went out into space and you got hailed by that elementary school teacher who was like, please help. You want to blow them up? This time it's Tim Allen. Tim Allen and it's the warrior weaver. And they're on the Galaxy Quest crew. And they're like, we are out in space and we should not be here. And you got to go help the Galaxy. I love that. You want to know what mine's always been? Tell me. Because every so often when I'm talking, I'm like, what if you just let me come there? And I told you, you're guys it. And then you put it up because I have absolutely no interest in making a mod. I don't want to do that. What I've always wanted to do is, I don't know if it's a hard pitch, I guess, to do, but then there's this rich guy shows up, right? And he's like, you run into him in a keyless city or a bar or whatever. Right? And he's like, I'm looking for a star wavefarer, right? To go out. I have been so obsessed with this one quadrant where this meteor came through and I've been trying to track it forever and yadda yadda. So you go over there, you talked to all the different towns people. They're all cagey about whatever is going on, blah, blah, blah, blah. And then what I'm, the whole thing I'm telling you, right, is like the rich guys played by Michael Rosenbaum. One of the town people has played by Tom Welling and it's that it's this Lex Luthor type is looking for Superman. And so he's, that he has gone there because he's tracked the ship that there's no extra trustials and star. Well, there's no intelligent life. Right? So it would totally be here it is. And like, you have all the different things of like, do you turn him in? Does he do this? In the end, he flies away or gets taken away by Lex. So it's not whatever. But like, I want to do like a quest line like that and then get, get Michael and Tom to do it for free and then not getting trouble with SAG or whatever. I do a lot of everything, not get sued by DC comics. There's a lot of fine lines I got to walk, but that's what I would do. Guys, we have kicked butt going through so much star field in 2026. I'll go around the table one more time. Is there something that I missed that you want to highlight for new players on PlayStation sick or PlayStation five Xbox and PC players that are jumping back in? What have I missed Paris and Greg? Paris, you will. I don't think you missed anything. I honestly, Greg has done a fantastic job in here, kind of just highlighting the past three years of star field because he's been engaged the entire time. So he's seen the roller coaster and all the changes and the updates that they've made and experienced them in real time. I like I said, for myself, having taken an extended break from it and coming back into it now, it feels fresh. It feels like a game I want to reengage with again. I want, like I said, I want to start from complete scratch and just play this from start to finish again, because I think they've done so many changes over the past three years that this is not the game that we played back in 2023. I think so far what I've seen, you know, with with the Terran Armada, this is really good DLC. I love the fact that the team there has said this is not the end. For Starfield, so we're going to get even more from this. So laps players, I definitely encourage them come back and PlayStation five people and brand new people that jump in on PC or Xbox. I think this is, if you love Bethesda RPGs, I think this is, this is going to be a fun experience for you for sure. Yeah. I mean, I would encourage, I mean, I, you know, obviously for three years I've been playing this game and I only love it more and more every time. And so like, yeah, I think it's amazing at its current incarnation and I would encourage everybody to try it. I think, you know, it's so easy to drag it out into the street and bash it with the hate stick and talk about the fact that it didn't live up to expectations at launch and et cetera, et cetera. I think it's in a great spot right now. I think to some degree they're just doing it to dodge expectations by saying it's not 2.0. I think maybe this update isn't 2.0, but I think to ignore the three years of content updates, the dozens of quests from creators and creations to jump in, like it's a game that's an everlasting gobstopper that for the first time ever I want to engage with, right? Where it is like, cool. The review's done so far, right? And I'm going to go away for spring break and it's like, I'm kind of bummed out. I got redacted to review now even though I'm looking forward to redact it because I just want to keep doing this. But now as it has been for the last three years, there's no gun to my head. I can come and engage and enjoy when I want to. He's into it. Of course, it's currently on the PlayStation store up near the top of pre-orders. It's going to be exciting to see how well it sells, how it does. The kind of reigniting the flame of an exciting Bethesda game coming out to a new audience. You know, it was a big one we talked about on the X cast of this being exclusive at the time. And Hey, this is Todd Howard's and the team's next big project. And you're not a part of it at launch. It's a wild thing to say. And here it is now coming over there. I'm very, very excited to see that. Oh yeah. Guys, you kicked butt on today's Starfield 2026 review. Crazy to look back, but most importantly, excited to look forward with what all the players will be able to jump into right now with a free update, a game coming to a brand new ecosystem. And of course, new paid DLC. So jump in, let us know in the comments down below, because this was pre-recorded. So we haven't been able to see any of your reaction to this. Let us know in the comments down below. Are you jumping back in to Starfield? Are you jumping in for the first time? And are you excited for all the new updates? We will talk to you on the next one. Goodbye, gamers.
