•Mar 10, 20263 months agoSummary
Uncle Si and the Duck Call Room crew answer listener questions about life lessons, marriage, success, and failures they're grateful for. The episode features candid discussions on commitment, parenting, personal growth, and Phil Robertson's philosophy on living authentically.
Insights
- Success and wealth don't fill the internal void that only spiritual fulfillment can address; many wealthy people remain miserable without purpose
- Long-term marriage success depends on commitment as a spiritual covenant rather than an emotional contract, combined with humor and conflict avoidance during heated moments
- Parenting requires observing and learning from others' approaches while establishing clear boundaries on respect and tone, not just obedience
- Failures and detours in early life often lead to better outcomes than following a predetermined path, requiring flexibility and openness to unexpected opportunities
- Living authentically and pursuing what you love matters more than financial success; the best life comes from doing something you enjoy with people you care about

all right welcome back to the duck call room ladies and gentlemen i doubt a man us four glad never mind um i need to apologize to everyone listening because martin just called godwin and i did not get my phone out to record the reaction when godwin realized he was in the middle of the lake and he was supposed to be here boy that retired life must be he said he said hold that thought while i reel this big crappie in man what a life man martin said goblin where you at he goes oh crap yeah like only goblin can say oh crap oh boy well i'm i'll be there in 35 35 no chance it'd be close goblin knows where the flat piece of metal behind that accelerator is He ain't scared to use it. He said, I'm close to boat ramp, my boy. Now, I'm not saying Goblin's going to put his boat on the trailer. He may just go pull that sucker down, leave it right there, and just come. You never know with Goblin. Oh, man. But Goblin will be here. But we're going to go ahead and get started. Yeah, man. What a time. Goblin is not here. But he's got gifts. Yeah, we had to have him here because that gift had international postage on it. Yeah, and it's, I don't know. We'll see what it is. It's got a customs declaration, but I'm assuming it's baby, twin baby girl gifts is what I'm guessing is what it is. Oh, okay. That's what it is. Yeah. I think it's probably for the baby blankets. Yeah. I think it's for the, uh, did you feel it? Huh? I think it's for the babies. So yeah. That's what it is. Is it from England? It's for the girls. Yeah. Where does it say it's from? Uh, the UK. Well, nobody knows what that means. Yeah. I don't know. It's from one of the four countries in the country. It is from Royal Mail, not to be confused with the United States Postal Service. Oh, this ought to be pretty good. And they're apparently woolen. So there you go. Very interested. Can't wait for Godwin to get here. And they're from Miss Donna. I don't think we can say last names, but Miss Donna, your package is here and Godwin will open it soon. We had it ready for him. Yeah, there's no chance he'll be able to read that. Miss Donna from the UK. Yeah, we're going to do a little bit different episode today. We're just going to be answering some of y'all's questions. Oh, Hunter's got us dialed up. Hunter's got questions for us. I got a couple at least. We've got answers maybe, allegedly. We've got options for us. Yeah. And while we're doing this, y'all don't be scared to drop down in those comments and let us know if there's something we need to discuss. Now, y'all do realize we're not going political. We're not doing that. I will. I'll fix it. I'll go political. Well, you already know the answer to the political stuff. I don't think they do. There's no reason to go down that road. I don't follow Kid Rock or Kamala Harris. Oh, boy. That got a lot. I thought a hunter, at least. All right. I've done my part here. That's how unpolitical I am. But, no, it's, wow, it's warm. It's kind of weird outside. It is so hot. It is springtime, baby. It is spring. Stuff's turning green really quickly, but I'm sure we'll get another shot. Oh, no, no. we got a cold cold snow cold snap coming yeah so that's the fall spring it's the part that gets everybody fired up that's the reason that i was at honey hole yesterday restocking the shelves because they had too much stuff come in martin showed up just say hello and then just it was like felt bad for me and started working again i killed a little time while the boys were taking a nap and i felt bad they had a bunch of stuff to put out so i said i'll take the fishing baits i know them so and that's mostly what we got yeah y'all can y'all can have the clothes i'll take the i'll put so much stuff when the seasons change oh man but anyway hunter are you ready to get started on some questions or yeah all right go ahead fire away hunter you need a camera like oh wait actually hey come over here till god gets it change your location and while you're moving i have a question for hunter that i developed today oh he's because developed it today as everybody knows i love hunter you didn't wear that shirt not want to be on camera come on That's a good point. Everybody knows I love Hunter, a.k.a. Scott. But I pick on his car sometimes, but I noticed something today. What is that? An alien? That's a CD player, Si. Oh. With paint on it. Oh, I thought it was an alien. Are you old enough to have CD players? Yeah. Okay, that's good news. We had one when I was a kid, but I had to get shirts with no logos or brands on it whenever. No logos, boys. So, Hunter, I was walking behind your car today. and you have three bumper stickers yes one is bucky's uh-huh i think the whole world can get behind that and if you can i don't want you listening anyway and then the other two are like race car things yeah do you race cars not at all okay but you in your end or nope all right are those intended to be like oxymorons because of what you drive no uh there's like a oil sticker and like a racing league sticker so my uh i my dad and his best friend thought my car needed to look more manly you can't make you can't make that car more that's all right so yeah i can yeah can put something on the hood they'll just well they'd be shocked when they'd say hey my dad had had something like that he used to drive this trans and with a firebird on it that's awesome yeah no yeah yeah so they just run you run your mouth while you weren't looking i scold you pretty much you know somebody did that um to me too yeah it was a different sticker you remember that yeah white so you didn't see it for a long a long time that it said cowboy butts drive me nuts and i had no idea it was there i'd rather have the oil sticker on yeah yeah one on my dad i'd piss on it oh oh calvin he's back he's back boys we got calvin back no yeah i finally found out who did that by the way my good friend ben he got tickled when i brought it up and he said oh my god i think that was me yeah then he went to his amazon order history yeah and that was there was the sticker yeah that was that was eons ago too yeah he said i he said i forgot i even did that to you i was like so rude i said man if it makes me feel any better i just got a good chuckle as i peeled it off wondering how long it was there yeah i don't know i knew it had been there a lot longer than the dirt around it had been there because that was a very clean spot up under that sticker yeah well i was just excited because we learned new stuff about hunter yeah on a weekly basis and i was like what if he's like night yeah moonlighting is a race car yeah did the Daytona 500 gets you fired up. I tend to overshare sometimes. I apologize. No. No, no. That put a good memory in my head. Oh, yeah, like what? Because I left, okay, the school that I went three and a half years, I had to leave in the middle of the year and go to a new school and graduate. Okay. So all my friends. Why? And one of them had bought a brand-new Chevelle 96. And I souped up one. He come down and visit me, him and three other guys. A 1996 Chevelle? Oh, yeah. Huh? Yeah. You graduated high school in 1996? No, no. 66. When I graduated. I was like, bro, you took three and a half years, and then you waited another 30? No, no, no. But anyway, we was taking turns driving it, you know. Yeah. And the other three guys had just abused this thing totally, okay? Well, I was going to just be the good guy and just do it. And some idiot pulled up beside me in something that was hot, too. You know, and he was driven up, and he said, you want to run, you want to run, you know. And he took off, burned rubber, and I was just proud of it. And the guy on the car said, hey, kick that guy's rear end. Well, hey, then we just sideways. Every time I'm putting the pedal down, it's turning sideways. old Tokyo Drift the only thing to stretch it out is hit another gear and keep going don't even lift don't even lift your foot up off of it I said now is that okay old Lucas Black no I said there you go who's that is that the boy that was in Tokyo Drift never seen it oh there you go isn't that him I forgot his name that was a beautiful welcome back i love hunter okay okay so these are these are kind of serious but yeah yeah we'll make it serious but we'll do what we can funny last time yeah we'll give it a best shot all right serious podcast called the duck oh that's a deputy i do one for us serious serious so the first one i have is what's a belief you had to unlearn as you got older whoa yeah i believe what are we doing oh i'm still learning that life sucks in general oh my goodness oh i guess you could do that the belief that you could be anything you want to be that is not true drew breeze lied to his kids that way hold it hold it now you've got controversy here why no because that is true no i could not be a boat mechanic i do not i do not fit up in them places you couldn't do the parallel no no no yeah you could be one but you would have limitations yeah yeah you would never have been able no matter how hard justin martin worked he could not have been a olympic gymnast a top-notch mechanic or a tightrope walker some things just aren't in the cards that's true i agree with cy though what yeah that you could well who wants to be something that you're not very good at well i didn't know what i wanted to be until i was in high school and i'm already like scratching stuff off what did you what did you finally decide you wanted to be i wanted to work in uh production oh production yeah and you know i'm starting a lucky one and now here you are being talent yeah i know yeah because you're one of the lucky ones because most people like me i still hadn't figured out what what i want to be no you figured out exactly what you wanted somebody show up with more money than saying well that true ding ding ding and then a and e backed that truck up yeah it took a while but you got there And hey and like Phil said the ship has come in Yeah What? And it's at the dock unloading. I'm trying to think if there's another belief. Like, what are you calling a belief here? Are we trying to go? Yeah. Well, no, no, because that's like my brother, Tommy. Uh-oh. Tommy knew as a teenager what he wanted to do. Yeah. he wanted to be a cool school teacher and a coach and he he actually retired as a superintendent of of you know school education god bless that man yeah well well if this will help something for me is uh i'm not the center of or the world doesn't revolve around me basically yeah i i get that that's a that's a twin thing right because i see my kids doing that maybe yeah i don't know yeah i think that's a i think that's more of a twin thing good tea and a and a getting older thing as you're a kid like you the world does revolve around you in fact wait your parents readjust their schedule and you know what i'm saying like i mean it actually does the world doesn't revolve around no it actually does yeah hey eight eight days without power we're all we're all selfish okay and we only won't y'all we're only concerned with with ish yeah with ish so hey y'all so it does revolve like ish what is what is ish Monroe that's what is they went back on bass fishermen which is going down the bass fishing line do i need to move on and in 2003 ish that something totally different i i don't know man that's a toughie i mean there's a plethora of that in a way you were unique because you were twins right you and your sister yeah there's more ways that that's a whole different lifestyle yeah we're competing over everything no no yeah on all all scopes oh yo yeah yeah boy i get a first-hand lesson in that every well no oh but it's fun oh yeah i just i mean what's it well i don't hear you talk as a dad when you're talking about your sons it's so cool uh because you're you're looking so well they they're getting to the age now where well i can do stuff with them oh yeah i just throw them in the truck now yeah no no let's roll oh you know what are the two now no three three headed to four i can't believe you saw my face it is crazy because they weren't around when this i think say but they are in in the in the uh the uh age group right now or yeah that they'll they'll come up with stuff that'll blow your mind oh yeah buddy they have a dissertation lined up for you when you get home every day what their day looked like the only problem is only they can understand what they're saying i mean i'm like yeah i just get bits and pieces of it i'm like oh okay yeah all right can't wait till the other day of school went today but hopefully their little friend shepherd wouldn't mean to them well what always that's all i ever say i was like shepherd mean what always was is how close they was listening to mom and dad oh yeah okay because you think You think they're not. Oh, that's their newest one. I ain't even told y'all this. If this tells you which one is prone to getting in trouble a little bit more than the other one, Waylon calls Jackson buddy. Jackson calls Waylon son. Does he drop a hay, son? yeah it's a don't it's a son don't do that like son stop and wayland wayland looks over and goes it's okay buddy that's the newest one like so you tell which one like but it's crazy because jackson's got like the most tender heart you ever see wear it on his sleeve you know so he gets called buddy a lot and wayland hears don't do that son a lot like son stop all right son quit that oh man and you don't even realize you're doing it until you hear them like repeat it back across from him and i'm like when he when he told him the other night don't do that son i was like oh boy oh boy oh yeah it's it's you need somebody in chong here going on yeah wayland's got that deal now you're telling something he'll do it and you tell him again then he'll look at you and go okay oh yeah yeah like i get it i'm like buddy you have to buddy get used to that buddy they're gonna argue no not okay no well yes sir is fine okay is not okay that one is martin doesn't like the okay no no you you will show respect that's what we're working on right now oh i contacted you not to each other oh yeah to me oh never mind i'm like hey come put your pjs on nothing hey come put your pjs on okay and turns and walks over there and i'm like it's it's it's the tone in the voice is the okay yeah that's why that's why ain't a okay yeah if i if i would have done that to my dad like these crazy eyes my mama okay i knew i was in trouble when she used my full name oh yeah silas merit yeah yeah when she's just saying kids you know or something like that but when she news my full name yeah he was in trouble hey you better yes ma'am yes sir the rest of the day you have to work otherwise you better get your butt to work with your kids on eye contact like when they're talking to somebody well yeah well i mean obviously i'm talking yeah i mean we haven't gone down that road but yeah here's my one of them especially yeah one of them especially i was thinking the other two are pretty solid okay here's my question that was the thing Where did they get this? What, not looking at you? And like you say something, and then they give the, okay. Yeah, I don't know where they get that. Or the roll the eyes. Okay. They roll them eyes. I'm going to roll them the other way. I had to learn. We're going to roll them back. Let's put it that way. We're going to be Walmart up in there, son. We're rolling back. Prices? No. No, eyeballs. You roll them that way, I roll them this way. I got my butt tore up so many times for looking wrong or saying it with the wrong expression. Oh, man. Yeah. Didn't know we were going to go there, did you, Hunter? No. See? We're on question one. No, but that's what makes it really, you know, watching them do this. You know, because that's about what all I do right now is watch other people. I think some people frown upon that. What, observation? Oh, no, no. You don't need to frown upon it. You need to learn from it. There's some people that get paid for that. It's a great thing to be able to observe. People go to jail for it. Yeah, that too. To observe and then just, yeah. All right, next question. Next question. I like that one. We're going to have this whole thing done by the time God will get here. It's good. What actually keeps a long marriage together when the feelings dip? Oh, wow. I thought that'd be interesting. Well, no, no. Oh, why? Yeah. Why are you worried about marriage? He's prepared. No reason. Be prepared. Here's two of mine. You need to learn quickly at the start of this relationship to say, yes, ma'am, a lot. Okay. And then the other one is, okay, do not be too serious. Yeah. You got that covered. Laugh a lot because you're going to do some of the stupidest things. Yeah. Get really comfortable with the phrases. I'm sorry. You were right. Yeah. No, no. And then you laugh. You're right, Hunter. Don't ever tell them they were right. That's rule number one. Yeah. Never admit wrongdoing. Oh, I tell Olivia she's right all the time. That's dope. No, you're being sarcastic. Big time sarcastic. Big time. Because that's all I hear about my wife. this is and i said well if when you're perfect it's it's hard to i guarantee you when you a 10 out of 10 yeah you know it's hard to deal with imagine being married to somebody as good looking as me it's tough that's right you know how good we sleep on those helix mattresses everybody's wondering how you can invest in yourself a little bit better with taxis and what can you do get you a new mattress man get you a new helix mattress because all you got to do is take a simple two minute quiz and they get you a mattress built straight for you then you want a moonlight or you're you want a firm one with the dawn it doesn't matter right because side sleeper back sleeper front sleeper they make it for everybody and look we're four years strong with it and we still got them the unashamed guys have them say he's got one they are seriously the best but don't just take our word for it helix is the most awarded mattress brand tested and reviewed by experts like forbes and wired and now that you got a fancy sleep tracker i don't know what mine was before because I didn't have a fancy sleep tracker. It's very rare for me to hit 90, but I consider 80. I'm a C plus man, even on my sleep. 80 is good for a sleep score. Look, you don't wake up with back aches. And with us traveling on the road, there's one thing. You can take your pillar. You can take your favorite blanket, but you can't load up your mattress and take it, which is unfortunate. You want to get the best sleep of your life? Go to helixsleep.com slash duck for 27% off site-wide exclusive for listeners of the duck call room. That's helixsleep.com slash duck for 27% off site-wide. make sure you enter our show name after checkout so that they know we sent you helixsleep.com slash yo i don't know to be fair though i think godwin godwin hit it on the head with me when he said it gets better so i haven't seen the feelings dip like it it truly has gotten better i mean not that there aren't stressful times and you're two totally opposite sexes and all the different stuff bothers both of you well yeah different reasons what if i rewrite the question for uh stressful times stressful times oh you just got to remember the commitment you made man like there's and me and britney are both like this like she comes from a divorced home i don't um at all my parents were married for i don't even know how long before dad passed uh but quitting is just it's not an option so like that that is not and that that that card you have to completely remove that card from the table now with that being said i understand that is there for a myriad of reasons to protect people when people go crazy and start but at that point they've gotten off of their commitment to their spouse anyway so like but for us that's just the commitment was and is the center point of our marriage because it's not a commitment from me to her or from her to me it's our commitment to god for each other so reach whenever we made that commitment i'm not i mean i let that fella i let the good lord down every single day everybody does but i ain't gonna let him down on that one like that one's one i ain't letting you down on this one i'm gonna do a bunch of other dumb stuff but i ain't letting you down on that one and it's that commitment that just you i mean you learn at this point you learn to just let crap go right off that back back there and you don't even and when it doesn't typically me and allison you know a couple days later it's a pretty funny story yeah we laugh at each other and i'm done it's a funny story and it's a good time well that's why i said you've got to laugh a lot because you're going to do stupid things. And a warning, I guess, is what I want to tell you. Okay. In stressful times, do not rush into conversation. No. Because once you say it, you can't take it back. Yeah, once you fire that shot. Yeah. Once you open your mouth and say the words, whatever it be, you know you can't take it back so hey before you you in stressful time back off even if you gotta walk away yeah i'm king of that yeah walk away walk away and say hey we'll discuss it i'm i'm too mad right now to discuss it with you yeah i run the veer i'll be outside in the yard just just pacing well no no like i ain't this ain't it this ain't it this ain't the time that's the smart thing to do okay because you don't want to you don't want to uh get involved in a conversation when you're mad because then if you do you're going to say something that you can take back you didn mean it but you said it yeah and that all that that all your spouse is going to remember yeah and now with the boys too it even easier because you don want you want to show them healthy ways to resolve any conflict I don know It doesn involve slamming doors screaming Like me growing up. Fighting. There's healthy ways to do this. I never saw my parents argue. No, they did it after you went to sleep. Okay. And I know they did it because they ain't perfect. But that was one of the things. And my father. Never left that house lest he kiss my mother. Yeah. Okay. Now, that was why he would get in the car, and then he'd open his door and go back at us and come back and say, I like to forgot. Yeah. She said, well, I was just sitting here waiting. Put her there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, because that's so important. Yeah. That you see your mom and dad in a loving setting. Oh, yeah. All right. Where were we at, Otter? So you guys are, I'm going to say it, pretty successful, right? Yeah. Yeah. I would say that. Allegedly. I would say, what's the definition of success? Yeah. Allegedly. I think only you can know that. Yeah. That's a good point. That's where I was going. But go ahead. Hey, not only that, that's the only important part. I feel like you're about to ask me. If you're okay with where you're at, success. You're about to ask me what's in my bank account. No, no. No, how deep we were going here. But what's one thing that success didn't fix? Oh. Well, no, no. I wouldn't say didn't fix. Because, okay, because you got to look at it, okay? A bunch of redneck country bumpkins. Who? Robertson. Oh, you, okay. Okay. Okay, we overnight become stars, okay? And overnight, money comes with that, okay? And Al, being a preacher, said, hey, look, if this thing turns into something big, the devil's going to move in. And we got to be ready for it. And he did. hey we were and he did yeah yeah i think the biggest thing for this crew was that the the hole that people try to fill with success had already been filled by jesus um i think that's the one thing that people think success will fill and it won't it never it never will because as a young redneck pre-duck dynasty i was having the the time of my life man like i got to duck up for a living like are you kidding me i'm talking about pre-duck guys i just i show up every day and i they expect me to go duck hunting i'm like oh and they're gonna pay you and it had its bad time because of it yeah but it's like oh okay i am living here but there was still the hole like and and in my world at that point that was success like i had just i had figured out the cheat codes on like i just got paid to go duck hunting every day now granted it wasn't much but it was being paid to go duck hunt and but the hole was still there and that was one thing that no matter what i did in the duck world at that time it nothing ever fixed it all right except for jesus that's why i tell everybody if you don't know the creator and you don't have a relationship with him you don't know nothing you will never amount to nothing yeah okay and you're never going to have the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Joy, peace, loving, kindness, all these good things. Okay? They're not going to be there because, hey, I've known millionaires. Like who? Huh? Oh, in the army. You know? Yeah. People that was filthy rich, and they was the most miserable, misguided, lost people I've ever met in my life. Because all that crap is temporary. Oh, I'm not happier because I'm rich. Yeah. But I do have more fun. Well, no, no. Thanks. he said but i was happy when i was broke have i told you all my favorite phil quote that he told me whoa yeah this no i'm very excited did it sound did it sound like keep that thing in your pocket and you'll be all right that's my second quote he told me he told you that too i really wanted to use that on a career day the other day right he didn't run a lot of pain he didn't run across he didn't run across a male under 25 he didn't tell that oh yeah keep that thing in your He told me a few times. It's good advice. All right, ladies and gentlemen, not to build this up too much. But from the annals of Phil Robertson. From Phil Robertson to Hunter, what did he tell you? Jones. It was like my first month, and we were doing In the Woods with Phil. Oh, yeah, he hit him early. Deep in the woods. It was just me and him in a boat together, and I was supposed to film him. Oh, yeah. Hey. Captive. Nervous. Purvis. I know you were freaking. Yeah. He got you captive. son yeah yeah so he's he's doing his you know holding on to the handle and he's just like looking out his hair is flowing in the wind and everything and he goes jones yep who would have thought become a millionaire by listening to ducks that was it that was it it was one of the coolest things anyone's ever told me before yeah and look that's the truth of it okay jones yeah And he just dropped it right there. Yeah, just like that. What's funny is what was probably going on in his mind, he was looking around going, this kid's on this boat with me filming me, and nobody should be doing that. Yeah. And that blows his mind. Oh, no. I used to do this every day for $7 at the fish market. And now 7 million people are about to watch this. Nobody knows this but me, okay? my brother actually hid from the devil in god's creation he spent his entire life hiding from the devil in creation yeah yeah he went to the end of the road said you ain't coming down here he said i'm getting out and if you do i'm prepared oh i'm serious because that was the most important thing in his life if you would ask him hey what is the one thing you want to do forever he would say hey have that 16 gauge shotgun in my hand chasing a mallard drake 16 browning that's all that man ever wanted to do was shoot mallard ducks okay and look he pulled it off yeah he made it that he made success on the on the topic of success when you said you first started and you were just hunting ducks when i first started and we were doing in the woods with phil there was this other time where we i rode in a side by side with phil and i was i can't remember if i was in the back or right next to him with the camera but he saw this really deep mud hole really deep covered in water and you just see him just start grinning and just gun it for that hole so now all of our cameras are wet i'm covered head to toe in mud yeah and when do you stop you yeah jones hole back there i'm wearing like and i didn't wear boots that day i wore tennis shoes so i had to go guilty and help push the stupid side by side out of the mud oh yeah he did that on purpose yeah no i know he did it on purpose but i remember it was like the first time i went with him i need some boots no those shoes will be i ain't seen them since yeah yeah but last last time i ever wore them shoes was that day i said there ain't no fixing this all right be one of them deal about hey ain't gonna take 15 minutes come on yeah that's right eight hours later here you come back in just cover some heads or toes with mud you lost your tennis shoes they're gone yeah yeah well i remember thinking to myself because i was 20 at the time and making i think i just started making 10 an hour and i was like couldn't tell you nothing yeah i was like man this is what success feels like this is awesome and you know what that is what success feels like if you're doing something you love and enjoy and have stories especially like that that is success right there yeah because there's a bunch of miserable rich people sitting in a bank somewhere staring at a cubicle that are just bored out of their mind they're miserable because all they're doing is is they're losing money and they it's driving them nuts back in the day on your same regard we were filming a commercial there's just me and phil in a boat for some reason for gator tail boats we're just supposed to be just cruising through the woods you know no problem no he ain't got that and i saw phil make eye contact with his log that was stuck in between two trees and he said what do you think i said i wouldn't i said i don't know it's gonna be tight yeah i wouldn't and then i heard that thing oh i said oh crap and there we went airborne over the log in between the two trees bouncing off of them i i said god and then he stopped we got through it they stopped we turned around and looked at the camera boat behind us he said that looked cool didn't it and i mean he but he was always that was he was always looking for some sort of peril well no no hey he was always thinking about what we wanted to get on on video yeah yeah oh he was a producer Don't ever let him fool you. He's always thinking about, you know, because, hey, oh, I've been with him because we're looking. We're on Darvon Lake, and it's flood stage, okay? The river's in it, and there's a big log jam, you know, around this beautiful setting of Cypress Tree. And right in the middle of it, okay, is bass feeding on top water. Well, hey, he looked at me. He said, we got to get in there. and i said what do you mean gotta get in there ain't no way we're gonna get in there there's 14 logs a dog jam in front of it he said get back here with me well i get back on the back seat with him with that 20 horse uh i don even remember what the type probably johnson back in oh it was mercury or crazy on that 14 foot boat okay why i don he's already knocked the fins off of it yeah okay and then all it was gives about five miles an hour faster so hey he made a big loop i'm wearing the only thing that's in the water is the is the boat Yeah. The motor. The boat is out of the water or skimming right on top. Well, hey, we slid over them 14 logs and like to center the big giant cypress tree because we'd come off of it. Well, he's got to get the motor down and turn. And we clipped this darn cypress tree, you know, and just one side of the boat's caved in in front of it. but hey, then we just proceed to throw Rebels and just fill that cooler up. Pop ours, baby. And hey, fill it up with bath. Hey, he made a big circle, and here we go to try to get out. Oh, God. I love side fishing stories. Oh, man. Every bait's from 19. Oh, no, he had one that was, hey, had a big U for the front seat used to be. The boat? Yeah. Because he centered a cypress tree, and all of us went out of the boat, in the water, including him. I think Phil originated the term, send it. Oh, no. Returned a cinder. Yeah. Full sin. Because, hey, we hit that thing wide open. Sending it, baby. And everybody's in the water. There's three of us. We're all in the water. it literally killed the motor when it hit the tree oh i believe it it stopped it yeah i'm funny i'm so surprised it didn't break it off yeah because you're talking about hey we're wide open wow yeah i approach life with a little more caution yeah well hey so that was one thing didn't do when he was in his heyday well you know what's crazy about that is he didn't even had the money to fix it to you oh oh no no like seeing him once he got the money to fix everything it kind of made sense because like now he really gets to live a redneck's dream not only can he tear it up he can fix it like he just get a new one yeah or just go get a new one but you know when he was broke he did the same thing it didn't matter oh no hey end it that's why hey that's why uh bondo and everything else was used to keep everything running his favorite line was my thing about two inches narrow than it was when we started ain't it i'm talking about all the buff right out yeah have you have you heard from godwin i feel kind of guilty though no it's fine well we can we'll figure it out he's on his way he's only 35 minutes this is the beginning of musty season in the south is here baby so it's time to clean up and that includes yourself and it's a perfect time to switch out that old deodorant for something better mando whole body deodorant and yes it's whole body deodorant pits thighs feet good anywhere whole body y'all created by a doctor to stop odor before it starts it's clinically proven to control odor for up to 72 hours they've also got the solid stick if you're into that or an aluminum free spray which is what godwin just did right here beside me mando subtle scents like bourbon leather clover woods and mount fuji are the best i'm a big believer in fuji so bourbon leather kind a fella i kind of like that's what this is i like to smell woodsy we switched seasons but now with mando hey if i get a little sweaty i'm some men mask their bo with scents don't mask it mando it available in retailers near you or head to shopmando.com because for a limited time new customers get 20 off site-wide with our exclusive code use code at shopmando.com for 20 off site-wide s-h-o-p-m-a-n-d-o.com please support our show and tell them we sent you mando's got you covered sake about a sweat stains and hello to long lasting freshness you got one to close on you got a you got a good closer i mean uh maybe yeah yeah go ahead this one i'm very interested in oh uh because i have a lot of these what's a what's a failure you're now grateful for oh god you've said that after every question i've had are these too heavy failure you're now now they're not heavy they just they provide a layer of transparency that sometimes as a human you don't like to provide oh i can i can change the question no i don't do right now we already told you what you say you can't take it back no you can in the editing room no we're not doing that uh no a failure what now a failure that you're now grateful for college i pretty much was just a mess all through college trying to figure out what i wanted to do with my life and had i figured it out i had none of my life would have happened the way it did i'd still be married to allison because we got married super young but everything i tried to do and i just it i didn't really like fail i just ended up not liking it so i quit on it or you know what i thought i was going to do after i graduated would have never happened had it i've been one of those people that were really good at college because i just wasn't and because i did stink at it uh willie robertson came and called me one day and said hey come meet with me and i've been doing weird stuff ever since that's pretty cool yeah no no it really is because he's got me thinking what would have happened if i'd actually got me an education oh boy are you gonna steal his answer is yours also no so that's one of the failures that come in hey johnny goblin he's in a 53 minutes and 27 seconds johnny goblin goblin's in the house hey godwin got behind a slow person i don't know if you know this guy he had some rookie that wouldn't drive uh hey i'm a welcome we've been talking about welcome yeah look i got the answer for you oh this is a good one right here this is a good one for godwin to come in on well how are you perfect we're answering the question good you know we're we're answering uh all of hunter's super serious questions today well all right here's a question for you what failure i'm gonna be so impressed uh read it for him what's a failure you're now grateful for a failure i'm now grateful for i guess it would be the way i live my life just so haphazardly as a teenager and a young adult after, like, high school. Man, that was so stupid. Okay, and when you was young and stupid and done things, you knew what you shouldn't have done. At the money I spent on beer and drugs, I could have had a souped-up truck, jacked-up big bass boat. I mean, I just owed that money away. Before this, we answered other questions and that's what I was telling people. I said, hey, look, you think money doesn't make you happy, it won't. There's a lot of things you think that are going to make you happy that it won't because it really doesn't mean nothing. Only thing money does, you do eat better. Well, no, no. It's like Phil said. I've been poor and I've been rich and hey, I have a lot more fun with Rich because I've got the money to do things Yeah Oh but then it gets boring After a while I ain't there yet I ain't bored yet Before we go you do have a gift from England Yeah there's a gift From England You need to open that we want to see it It's from England It's from the United Kingdom I think it's maybe blanket yeah that's from royal mail what's inside the present it's a shirt or something you need a knife i got a knife in my pocket you got a knife yeah he been fishing i smell it smells it well don't does it smell good it's got tissue paper oh it's white oh it's no white this This is for the babies. The babies. Oh, looky there. Ooh. Wow. That's handmade, too. By Miss Donna in the United Kingdom. Johanna is going to love this. I'll fix that. That's handmade, boys. Izzy had her appointment today, by the way. Yeah. How's that going? We talked about that on the last podcast, or maybe the podcast before last, with her issue. We shared your post up there asking people to pray for your grandbabies. Wow. this is awesome how you gonna tell them apart who is this that's donna thank you very much oh my my daughter crochet so this is she's gonna love it and look they're a little bit different are they yeah just like the girls just a little it is one of them donna thank you very much for that because hey i know that was made with love and care for isabella for the babies this is awesome there you go i'll read that later thank you donna very much boy donna got good handwriting does it's because she's from the united kings from central scotland she's got is that where she's got man i apologize for saying england so many times oh i rode down a hill in scotland they did i videoed it i did i said i I want to do something here I've never done here. So I rode down a hill. I tried to catch up. What was it? Loch Ness Monster. Yeah, Loch Ness Monster. How's your head on the line? It's getting up in her nasal cavity. Yeah. And they've ordered, it is that thing, Herman something. Yeah. I can't say it, but it's a long word. So it's not nothing real bad serious. It's going to take about a year. And they've got medicine ordered. And once that happens, we're going to have to go back two days in a row for her to get it right and to observe her. Okay. But other than that, poor thing. She kind of dribbles when she eats now. But it shouldn't be any kind of permanent. What am I trying to say? Damage, no nothing. No long-term effects. Yeah, or any kind of, you know, looking funny or something. There you go. Anyway. Man, that's awesome. And Donna spent a lot of time doing that. Yeah, I did. Because that's what I can't say. The word it is. Show Johanna. My wife does that. Well, now the question everybody wants to know, Goblin. What's that? I don't think this one's on hunter sheep. Were they biting? Yeah. What'd you catch? Hey, I told you that. Yeah. i knew what he said oh god uh he said oh crap that was so funny i knew they was biting oh well welcome back you had to uh time to go small yeah and now the question i got you got any availability next week when well i have to look at my calendar i think so i'm gonna book me a day we but me and god we're about to have ourselves a day y'all gonna have i gotta go to minnesota this weekend like a saturday oh we'll get back from there it should be warm when you get back what what is the lord got for us uh the lord's got something for us today because this this verse has been said many times in anything duck commander related because of one phil robertson and we talked about success today we talked about phil a lot today and when i think of phil i think of how he would say it, and I can't do it just as how he would say it, but he would say, oh, Paul in 1 Thessalonians 4.11 said, make it your ambition to lead a quiet life. Quiet, folks, quiet. Quiet. Minding your own business. Working with your hands. Working with your hands so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and you will not be dependent on anyone, anybody. I only tell you this because I love you. I love you. All right. We'll see y'all next time in the room. We're out. I do miss the boy. you
