Summary

Bryce Crawford analyzes Luke Chapter 19, covering the story of Zacchaeus the tax collector's redemption, the parable of the ten minas about stewardship and kingdom investment, and Jesus's triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The episode emphasizes that genuine faith in Jesus results in transformed behavior and that believers are called to actively spread the gospel using their God-given talents.

Insights
  • Authentic conversion to Christianity must produce visible behavioral change; claiming faith without lifestyle transformation indicates a lack of genuine encounter with Jesus
  • The parable of the ten minas teaches that God expects believers to actively use their gifts and talents for kingdom purposes, not passively preserve them
  • Resistance to Jesus's lordship is a central theme in the New Testament, with people explicitly rejecting his reign to maintain autonomy and self-directed living
  • Jesus's triumphal entry on a donkey symbolizes humility before his crucifixion, contrasting with how he's praised by crowds a week before being mocked and beaten
  • Passive silence about faith is insufficient; believers should actively give glory to God through voice and action rather than letting creation itself testify

That's very kind of you Thank you so much Merry Christmas to you Elf Dylan And as always we're gonna be in the word of God a day and in Luke chapter 19 and here we go Talking about Jesus he entered Jericho and was passing through and behold there was a man named Zacchaeus He was a chief tax collector and was rich now. He's not just your regular tax collector Jews hated tax collectors. He was that chief Tax collector the chief the head hot show of of money thieves and He was seeking to see who Jesus was Meaning out of humiliation he was willing to publicly humiliate himself to see this Jesus guy He had heard about him when I went to the crowd He could not because he was small and stature so he ran on ahead and climbed up a sickle mortuary to see him But he was about to pass that way and when Jesus came to the place He looked up and said to him Zacchaeus Hurray and come down from a state your house today So he heard it and came down and received him joyfully and when they saw it They all grumbled right the same thing the Pharisees do because they were like he is gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner What does Jesus say he didn't come to The great physician came Not for the healthy but for the sick And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord be hold Lord the half of my good to give to the poor And if I've defrauded anyone of anything I restore it for full and Jesus said to him today Salvation has come to this house since he is also a Son of Abraham for the son of mankind to seek and save the lost What does the key is to because of the presence of Jesus Christ? He got so much deep conviction and all the things that he had heard about him that he renounced and repented from his sin is important If you claim to follow Jesus and your life doesn't look different before you claim to have met him So after you've claimed to have met him I would argue to you that you don't know Jesus Because you can't experience God and not be changed Verse 11 The parable of the ten minutes As they heard the things he proceeded to tell a parable because he was near to Jerusalem and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was so pure immediately And he said therefore he's about to tell a parable that's similar to the the parable of the talents Anobaman went into a far country to receive for him a kingdom and then returning calling ten of his servants He gave them ten minutes that ten minutes Was all he gave them each about three months worth of wages and said to them engage in business until I come But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him saying we do not want this man to reign over us When he returned having received the kingdom he ordered these servants to whom he had given money to be called to him Then he might know what they had gained by doing business. Now look this is important. This is sound familiar A command to all believers is not only take Jesus for yourself But invite people into the friend group spread the gospel be sent forth Preach it to people anyone that breeds oxygen as a candidate And then the people that don't want to live for Jesus are obviously like we don't want Jesus to reign over us We see this all in the days day and angel I don't want Jesus. I want to live for myself I want to be this I want to be that I don't want Jesus. I don't want to live for him I don't want to live for his statues his lordship or nothing So similar First came before him saying Lord your menna has made ten minutes more and he said to him well done good and faithful servant Because you have been faithful and very little you shall have authority over ten cities And the second came to him saying lord your menna has made five minutes And he said to him and you're to be over five cities Then another came saying lord here's your menna which I kept laid in a hankerchief For I was afraid of you because you are a severe man you take what you did not deposit and reap what you did not so He said in a my will condemn you with your own words you wicked servant You knew that I was a so you knew that I was a severe man taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not so Why then did you not put my money in the bank and at my coming? I might have collected it with interest use your gifts and talents and your mouth for the glory of God Share the gospel Use what God has given you to bring glory to him point glory to him Point people to his feet He said those Just said by take the menna from him and give it to the one who has the ten minutes and they said to him Lord he has ten minutes I tell you that to everyone who has more will be given but from the one who has not even the one who has Will be taken away. It's interesting the ones ones who submit themselves to the lordship of Christ will be blessed and reap the benefits of what it means to be a believer That's just a fact But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to rain over them bring them here and slaughter them before me Aka I'm going to bring judgment on those who want submit themselves The my lordship or 28 the triumphal entry when he had said these things he went on ahead going up to Jerusalem When he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany at the mount that is called all event He sent two of his disciples saying go into the village in front of you We're on entering you will find a cult tide on which no one has ever yet sat untied and bring it here If anyone asks you why are you untying it you shall say the lord has needed it Now notice he's going to ride in on a donkey In humility and did you know They're on the back of a donkey if you look up the picture of like a bird's eye view of a donkey's back That it has hair of a different color On its back in the shape of a cross Isn't that interesting? As Jesus is about to enter into the city and humility on a donkey he is metaphorically sitting on What he's about to bear a cross on the back you should look it up Third use those who were sent Went away and found it just to see a told them and as they were untying the cult It's owner said of them why are you untying the cult and he said lord has need of it And they brought it to Jesus and throwing their cloaks on the cult they set Jesus on it And as he wrote along they spread their cloaks on the road As he was drawing near already on the way down the mount of olives the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with the loud voice For all the mighty works that they had seen saying blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord peace and heaven and glory in the highest And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said Teacher rebuke your disciples because he's receiving worship The Pharisees understood that the only one who is worthy of worship is God himself And Jesus is receiving worship. He's not stopping them from praising it As he isn't an interesting a week before Jesus's crucified mocked spit on flogged beaten to unrecognition Jesus is praised with people's mouths The number one persecution Jesus faced was being misunderstood And we're about to witness it go down over these next few episodes Exceed chapters When the Pharisees said rebuke your disciples he said I tell you even if these were silent the very stones would cry out When you and I are passive and decide to shut our mouth because we're embarrassed We don't want people to think we're weird. This is not about Jesus Creation gives praise to God And I don't want the rocks to have to cry out. I want my voice and my actions in my life To be constantly giving worship to God so that I can give the rocks a rest You guys can take a break. I want to give the glory to God. That's how I want to live my life Verse 41 when he drew near to the city he saw in any webtover it Saying would that you even you had known on the state the things that make for peace He's not just talking about his fate. That's about to come If I'm being crucified But but it's for the judgment of the city On the state of the things that made for peace But now they are hide hidden from your eyes for the days will come upon you when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround you And him you on every side and tear you down to the ground and you and your children within you and they will not leave One stone up upon another in you because you did not know the time of your visitation Verse 45 any end of the temple and began to drive out those who sold saying to them It is written my house shall be a house of prayer But you have made it a den of robbers. Now what is going on? You have people who are making a quick buck off of fresh Converts who are manipulating the text for the sake of monetary gang and he is righteously upset If I was to be angry and do not sin Jesus is being sinful in his anger. He's being righteous in his anger He was teaching daily in the temple the chief priests and scribes and the principal men of the people were seeking to destroy him But they did not find anything they could do for all the people were hanging on his words Jesus is in the temple He's rebuked people for making a quick buck on him and he's teaching and the Pharisees are trying to find a way To get him arrested And tomorrow we're going to read The beginning of Jesus slowly Getting plotted on being arrested and crucified guys have prayed that Luke chapter 19 was an encouragement to you We'll see guys tomorrow or Luke chapter 20 hey Thank you guys so much for watching the Luke series I pray that this thing is a blessing to you in the ultimate heart is so that you go and read this word daily You don't rely on the podcast you rely on the word of God in the Holy Spirit Thank you guys so much for watching if you like the episodes subscribe follow us on social media And we'll see you guys in the next episode
