Hey sleepy head be drink special K You've waited long enough how the heck you pronounce this woman's name Rula Texas it's Wednesday, it's April the 8th of 2026 and it's 6.01 a.m. With the gang rule Eric's okay and saying We're probably the most interactive show in I know it he's too for sure. Yeah, you think about like I'm talking to listeners on Social media Instagram all the time text we have so many callers every day. It's pretty cool We love you Houston. We love you world. Good morning world Because we do have a lot of people who don't live here Yeah, actually have never lived here and they just found us that blows my mind. I think that's awesome California, we got Florida at Georgia Never to be here. It's like, okay, Alaska One in Alaska You do your show in Alaska. I do begins weekends with Rula's in Alaska and yeah, and there's I wish I remembered her name Now I'm having a brain fart something like some funny hand to like toasty tarts or something. She's so funny I even chatted her out one time one of my shows she loves weekends with Rula and And I went to a funeral last week. I went to a military funeral. I went out to the Veterans Memorial gravesite, you know, we're by the way military funerals always just blow me away Those are so amazing and their pomp and circumstances just epic and I love it so much even though we've lost a loved one But I met one of them, you know, I extended family members or whatever before we left and he's like, oh my god From weekends with Rula Live here, but he listens to me in his city. See they could put us on there. It was great every station you're on in Weekends, yeah, let's go. Let's go people already know you've been on there for like five years. Yeah That's a good idea you should We still could America nobody, you know when Oprah Winfrey did her show one of her non Negotiables was that she's doing it in Chicago. She's like I'm staying in Chicago So you're going to build a TV studio here and the stars have to come to Chicago She's going instead of going to New York or going to Chicago And I always thought to myself I did if I did a talk show or something I'd make it in Houston because why not we're the fourth largest city. We're so dynamic so diverse so awesome There's so much to do here. Why not add just that one more place to stop So she now with celebrities when they want to promote stuff doesn't really matter that you're not in New York Or you're not in Los Angeles because the game has totally changed I kind of feel like you're just done a cog in the The entertainment world LA in New York. It's all it is. That's why these podcasters do well like like Theo Vaughn and Joe Rogan in Austin, you know, they're not they're not doing their shows from New York in LA The evolution of digital media has helped us see I might be an L I'm not a caster anywhere in the world, you know I'm I was actually thinking I don't know where he does a show But I was actually thinking for the summer time as we're trying to plan our family vacations You know, we want to go back and see our family in Greece and most of my aunts and uncles guys It's getting real tricky now because they're Really getting older So every summer if when we decide what we're gonna do for summer if we don't go there we take the risk That the next summer they won't be there. Yeah, so now It's more important than ever for us to really try and get there And I was thinking like, you know, when I was a kid we had summer vacation and my mom Was able to take a long time to go with us because that's where her parents were Why not stay there for six weeks and really absorb your family? You only get to see them one time a year and I was like God with technology now I could broadcast in the middle of the Mediterranean baby. Oh, yeah nowadays. I could just like awesome. Hey guys Well, it's the afternoon for me How's it going for y'all over there because they're eight hours ahead people that watch like the news and they see Reporters from like the Middle East when we watched it as kids it would be like All right, Rula. How's it going over there? Dead air dead air dead air dead air. Oh, I'm gonna say something then they talk because I've had delay Yeah, three or four second delay now. It's pretty like Even when I had to broadcast from the house without that ankle surgery. I still I still had like a half second delay though Yeah, yeah, you did because when we were playing games You were not winning as much Right because I was Distracted Over there Mommy this is how your kids like zero blanks given Mommy is on the radio and they'll just barge in there not even paying attention that we're talking on the mic Oh, and he said that she can't find my folder and she's had my folder And I have to have my folder and like I am Where my shoes Sam would you say Theo does the show? National Tennessee and he's a big podcaster Sh veil yeah, Sam loves them. I do Well, you're in luck Sam. I've got two clips from him today in scoop with Ella Langley your other love. Yeah, look at that I know I already like can you grab this? I'm like, yeah, I've already seen this Yeah, I think he does people like him because they feel smarter when they listen because he's an accent No, because he's he's dumb. No, I don't he's not done. He's playing dumb. He's playing it up I don't think he is no, he's not I mean, it's not the wrong with being down like when people don't always say the correct words and That's what he's relatable because he's he's not perfect. He's not like a super Smart smart and that's the thing some of the stuff if you listen Intrusive thoughts win, which is my favorite thing ever You're not supposed to say out loud he says it and you're like, where do you come up with this dude? Like if we said half the things he said Would be kicked off the radio Because people want you to be silly dumb But they don't want to truly believe that you are dumb and they're like, oh come on that is embarrassing You are on a mic. Can you just know this already? You know people have a balance of where what their threshold is gonna be when it comes to All that kind of stuff. He's got a movie coming out with David Spade I figure it comes out April 17th. Is that next week? Yeah next week They financed it themselves But they'll probably make money on it because they released in the theater and then as soon as it's you know after a week or two They can put it on rental make some money there and All the exposure they can get on his show David Spade's got a him and what's his name does a oh my god Who? Church lady guy. Oh, Dana Carvey. Yeah, they have a podcast together. It's really popular So Theo von was standing up comic first. Yeah, and he was on TV. I saw Comedy Central MTV His actual name is Theodore Capitani von Kurnitowski the third Look at that. Like it's like very smart sounding name Theodore Capitani von Kurnitowski Oh That's what I'm saying half Greek half whatever that is. Anyway, so yeah, that's why his name is Theo von and In the manosphere That's how you got popular Yeah, I'm not familiar with him. No, I don't need I looked his face up. I I've never Never seen I have heard the name and never seen his face But I'm also not listening to those manosphere Unless I come out real estate. Yeah And actually, I saw Theo von was his animated and there was an animated Instagram real It wasn't even him. It was a Lego character of him Talking to whatever celebrity he was talking to as Lego characters and I was like, oh, what is this? That's first when I heard his voice. What's fun about Podcasts is a lot of people will know these people but they've never heard the whole podcast Joe Rogan. Yeah, I just see I see Bobby Lee and I forget his name Santoloni or I can't remember his name the comedies get red hair and they're really funny But I just see clips so I've never I've never taken the time to go to the podcast and everybody thinks they can do a podcast Everybody thinks that they're gonna do a podcast and it's gonna go crazy and they're gonna have so much money There's a guy that we knew in radio Eric that I remember he left radio and started a podcast and he had come to our Convention like the next year and everyone's like, oh like everyone thought he was probably there looking for a job because that's where all the morning brains of America are And he was like, yeah, you know my podcast is like number one Apple blah blah blah and nobody had heard of it Nobody had ever known anything. They thought he was making up numbers because you can make up numbers I mean seriously three times the lie is the truth So I tell you something three times with conviction and they believe it they'll make you sound like it's the truth and it's not So podcast I was like, I have a podcast. I have a podcast listen there There's a million of them out there But there's only a few that are like the ones we're talking about and that's why I love about radio is we can take calls That's I think what makes it different interactive. Yeah, interactive and live right now I'm going in here. Just like a raw feed where we go in there. We just record it and it's fun because we unfiltered but I've missed the elements the listeners Yes, and Eric to your point about my national show weekends with Rula That's the part that is the hardest for me to get used to because I am so used to us talking right now to our six o'clockers right now Stuck in traffic on whatever that bridges. I see on TV. I don't know where that is I think it's beltway eight, but you are in traffic and I am sorry Like right now we're talking to whoever's in that car and they can text us at three seven five three zero on weekends with Rula That's what that's the part that kills me from doing live radio for all these years I want to interact with the audience and it's impossible because that show airs From the West Coast to the East Coast all at different times It's like I go into my my studio on Saturday morning at 6 a.m. And I'm broadcasting to all 70 cities all the cities will carry the show at different times So I can't interact I have to just give up my hotline I hope they call back and then play at the next week And you just recorded Friday you gotta do it like a few days before right if we This show was live in Alaska. We couldn't talk about what's on TV right now What's happening in our we could just say real time in Houston, Texas, which is gonna say there's a real bad traffic jam There's probably one in your town, too, but the one I was in Alaska like Texas I Mean that is a really bad backup I wish they would say on the screen on the bottom third I wish they would post what is happening because it's totally shut down, but they're not showing it They're just showing us the sky I really even look at a bottom third Earlier it was about way Something major happened there where I came until what that is like a jackknife 18 wheeler or what is that somebody fell? Oh, wow off is there anything hanging up? It looks like the bridge is completely closed over the Over the bayou or the the ship channel. Sorry They're zooming in but we can't tell what they're zooming in on sorry cars on the bridge six o' nine a.m If we bring up on to some transdar, I'll probably say but maybe Becca I'm gonna tell you know what I'm gonna tell her to bring that chopper over there. Yeah, let me take to a right place Becca Parker Okay, today on the show what we've got Yeah, can you yeah, oh, let's see if you can put it right out there We're feeding channel 13 Yeah, there is another secondary investigation Underneath that overpass and there is a reason why they were using their flashlights. Yeah, again headed out the door 146 East Loop The washburn tunnel all of your alternates this morning as they try to clean up both accidents in both directions Okay, Tammy. I'm sorry if you're stuck in traffic over the ship channel There's a terrible car accident and there's three cars involved started like 450 according to trans star y'all this was reported what time 450 in the morning is when it started now, they're saying that the status was cleared as as of 6 27 a.m But that doesn't mean it has relieved what's happening in all those main lanes the bridge East amp here's in tollway southbound ship channel toll bridge. So it says it's cleared It's gonna take some time for everybody to start scattering. So I'm sorry. It's starting out to be a rough morning Okay, so Ella Langley has had great success here on KRBE with shoes in Texas. We even gave away a trip to go see her on the East Coast and She had a song well first she let's first talk about how she had to fight For certain music on her album before choosing Texas became her biggest hit and that is her biggest Higgs it's now broken records on the Billboard hot 100 for hot country songs country airplay It hit number one on the Billboard hot 100 has stayed there for four weeks She is a song featuring Riley grain who opened this year's rodeo Houston. Yep. He was the first night performer Sam knows that Yeah It's called you look like you love me and it is really funny you look like you love me She's talking about being on tour and his cowboy walks in and she's like I'm gonna meet some of that You look like you love me you look like you want me to want you to come home with me tonight Oh, thank you. And so that song the record label wanted her to change it they wanted well here she is talking to Theo Vaughn about the changes they wanted her to make and she refused and something that like I think you look like you love me did for me was like Everyone told me that song was not gonna work, you know, yeah, like what what do you my label tried to? Cut it or yes after we had cut it They were like we really think you need to go back in and sing these verses I was like, I'm not singing it and they're like you need to sing it and I just Fought them really hard on it and they thought you do need to go back in and sing Riley's verses Is Riley the one sings on that? Yeah, but no like the yeah the talking part You know I was all but 22 I think at the time. Yeah. Yeah, no They wanted me to sing that go back in there like this is like gonna be the worst performing song of the record Yeah, and I so I think with that one. I mean it was just you knew it wasn't I mean I didn't know what it was gonna do, but I believed that like you believed in what it was though I believe that it was different. I believe that it was something that made me smile and I enjoyed singing it and You know like I said once I put my mind to something like if I go and it cut something is because I believe in it I like that happens a lot of times with artists many times an artist is told you got changed this you gotta do this You're gonna fit this certain in this box. Yeah, these suits don't care about being creative. They're there to make money, right? It's all about the bottom line. They're the artist. That's what it's so hard about there the artist They want to create and these people just want to make money and that's all they care about and they Throw their thoughts and their power and their money behind you That's a guts a 22 to do that, right? And if you've heard the song which I can't play you the song because then we can't put it on podcast It's gonna have to cut out part of the six o'clock Sam and the podcast Please Oh wait, that's wrong. Oh Talking part, can you know? Anyway, she starts out talking like she's on stage and she sees this cowboy walking She says to herself I want me some of that Mm-hmm, and then start singing and then the rally green part. He's talking I bet they don't want that because girl's coming up to me a woman shouldn't say stuff like yeah, right? What they're thinking like that sounds like you're I'm trying to find the lyrics for you Kev It's really it went I think if you heard it you would know it. Oh, no Like country music. It's good. I told him that when I was driving in there was some old-school Country song on that haven't heard in so long that always is so funny because the thing about country music That's so fun is it's a little story in two minutes. Yes, that is true And there's one by Billy Carrington from years ago. It's called people are crazy It's about him sitting at a bar with an old man that he doesn't know and they just talk about the birds and the air and drink good beer And he goes God is good and beer is great People are crazy and in the end on the cover of the of the newspaper that this old man's picture He was a millionaire and he left his fortune to some guy He barely knew his family was mad as hell But me I'm doing well and he goes and leaves a six pack on his grave because clearly he benefited from the old bands of fortune So little stories. Yeah, I just some country artists I just feel like they're manufactured so much that it's like they don't even like country music It's just because it's hot right now, so they have to do it like if rock and roll was hot Yeah, be doing that like how many are really in the country Quiet for a while and now it's back again crossing over into our waters, which I don't mind that at all It's fine. It opens your eyes something new, but it's not gonna stick with you Some people are so anti a different genre of music they just turn their ears off to it no matter what they don't even want to hear How it crossed over that's our nades to you don't listen to new stuff Now you just used to your wheelhouse. Yeah, you will listen to like your 90s Well further or 90s alternative or 80s. Yeah music further in the podcast conversation The Ovan is talking to Ella Langley about things that she might enjoy eating or drinking Mm-hmm condiments, you know ketchup is a food group for some people Well, there is a vegetable sauce that you've probably seen on the hero not the gyro not the giro Yep, I like girl has a great one the hero Is a cucumber yogurt sauce? Not feeling it. That's what I don't like that. Oh Yeah, that's how you pronounce it guys listen to Trying to ask Ella Langley about it and it's go sideways It's a stuff like that are you a condiment person sauce? Yeah anything. I love it. You ever had that zit zackie sauce bring it up Yeah, you've had it like great sauce no zit zackie I never heard it that zed zit tizak Ziki Don't even tell me that's how y'all feel Zachariah sauce I said LeVeepie is 413 You mean LeVeepie? Okay, then it reminded me of this one guy I think he does this on purpose and you've probably seen him on tiktok and insta reels It's a blonde guy. He does like four ingredient little hacks for your air fryer or whatever He'll be like you just need to take a tortilla and put some ground turkey and put some feta and roll it up in the air fryer And then he's trying to say dip it in Zadziki sauce But it also goes sideways If you mix ground turkey spinach feta spread it on a tortilla Roll it up slice under pinwheels and air fry it it is so delicious with tizay tizak I I don't know I feel like sauce I said to ziki I've heard it so many times How can you mess it up? It's is it a regional thing that maybe we know it because we have a Greek influence here I know the east coast is full of Greeks the west coast is full of Greeks It's not something you get every day. I mean how many people eat Greek food? Zadziki sauce Zadziki chances of you eating Greek food are probably one and like one of what's a month You say the yogurt sauce. What is it called in the Persian? Cuisine. Oh, yeah, they have one that's very similar, but it's more cubed cucumbers versus shredded. I got we use that with chips I always just say whatever that yogurt sauce is I'll take that with the bargain the kubuday Well, when you go to the halal guys, they have a sauce there that is off the The yogurt one. Yeah, I guess I don't know some white sauce. It doesn't taste yogurt-y, but It's thinner feels yeah So it's the Ziki Ja Ziki Zadiki. I know we got round table coming up. So speaking of Podcast shows and different accents and stuff. Yeah, any polar had Fred armors on Armorson armorson on a couple days ago and he makes he's not making fun of Texas Houston But he had he he talks about how he thinks they sound when he's on airplanes and David Letterman Talks about him in one of his episodes on Netflix to another comic saying Fred armorson. He can do any accent Yeah, so you got to hear when he that's good comes out But he thinks people from Houston sound like Dallas and then the surprise city Okay, we'll hear it next on the ruler show with Eric Round round the table The table of accents This is fun Amy Poehler who just won a big I heart podcast award or something or no I don't know David Spade and Dean and cover one the I heart they won the Golden Globes Amy Poehler did Amy Poehler did and she had Fred armorson on who used to be an SNL with her I use me. Oh, that was his first character. He would do the drums go. I use me Portlandia yeah was the on that. Yes, wrote that very strange place drums a lot Yep, I think for Seth Meyers. He comes in once in a while plays but he was on he does great impress impressions He's really good. So Amy Poehler asked him to do impressions of people from Texas and here's what it sounded like Can you please do someone from Houston and someone from Dallas? Some people I know from there are going through some personal growth personal growth Dallas I always my idea about them is that they're kind of business like I Hear them on planes on a conference call. I had been At I was on a layover We know someone from Beaumont and that's kind of Beaumont's the biggest I've ever heard I Can't imagine My man that first first one like we have a friend. Yeah, who is that? When I was a child in airports, I think that's what he hears people. Oh, yeah, I'm traveling so much I told Eric guys that we have a very close family friends that live in Port Arthur Beaumont area And we've known them forever and when I was a kid I have a very vivid memory of being in my sister's room and they'd come over to visit We're playing Barbies and I asked her why do you talk like that? And then she goes, what do you mean? I said you have an accent and she goes no, you guys have an accent Because they were both mine Only a Beaumont accent. Oh, good. Yeah, it was nailed it spot on. All right This is story parlays into what happened to me yesterday. I had to go to the driver's license office Which is everyone's favorite place to visit. Just love it The best thing they ever did was you could go online and change your like if you move. Yeah, yeah, your license there Yeah, you don't have to go in. Yeah, so they don't have to have all the people in there all the time still sucks the last time I got a driver's license for renewal was fairly Soon after COVID because you you know have to make an appointment on their website and when I went there the last time They wouldn't even let you in the doors unless you prove that you had an appointment to be in the doors And when I walked in y'all I went straight to the counter. I met the most pleasant people. They were super nice It was super quick. I took an awesome picture. I was like, I love this picture. This is great Well, my license expired and I did what you said Eric. I went online To replace it. I don't know where it ended up and the only reason I know it's not the one in my wallet Is because I got pulled over and the cop said well, it says in the system You have a replaced driver's license with this one's expired one. I was like what couldn't find it couldn't find it Couldn't find it couldn't get replaced online. So I had to make the appointment. So yesterday was the day It's like done done done Photo or they have the old photo while I was hoping to keep my Fabulousity of my old photo and so I get there for my 215 and I'm thinking it's gonna be like in and out, baby School picks up three. We're gonna make this My number was six four six and when I walked in at 215, they were on number 584. Yeah, so I was like wait what? What is this? I have to wait. Oh my god. This is weird So I'm sitting there and it's busy, but not packed to the gills So there was enough one seat separation around where you're sitting and y'all know how I am with my bloodhound nose Yeah, my bloodhound nose someone would have BO within three seats this human person Walked into the area and I smelled him before I looked up and I was like, oh god I can't sat right across for me and I was like, oh lord have mercy. I had no shame I just put my shirt over my face And I put it on like an old-school mask I could not I was so and I knew it was him because he got up to leave and he came back and it followed him The lady two seats over from me when she saw me do this. She kind of gave me that little half smirk smile She was getting that too And there's a story from career builder the quickest way to alienate yourself at your job is bad smells or overpowering cologne So when you're getting dressed right now Do a sniff test on those pits y'all don't know stiff your clothes first your clothes and smell your clothes But people think you can wear your clothes four days in a row cannot in Houston heat No, and not smell and I will call anyone out if anyone on our show ever has that I do it all the time I'm we're doing you a favor if you smell rank because the whole day you're gonna be ranked So as you come here and we smell rank we can tell you hey Too much cologne. I've told people the too much thing it says too many smells at once will destroy a workplace Beware of mixing too many smells Don't think that you can take the clothes that you wore two days straight and dowsum in cologne No, and then go out to your workplace that is the quickest way to alienate yourself from all the things They will judge you who cares how you perform That's it like you're the person that smells so much like people that go to the bathroom destroy it And then they spray with a febrize and it's basically just flower turds.
