We're going to get right into it. I want to establish... First, I want to say I don't play video games very much. Yeah, he only plays college football. that's the whole reason we got PS5 it's true I've downloaded a few other games but I literally I genuinely think the only game I've spent more than an hour or two on has been NCAA football over the last year and a half so two years or whatever FIFA here and there but I did not grow up playing video games we talked about this when we did a Minecraft episode last year right last year so I didn't really grow up playing video games my wife did coop loves video games he plays a lot of video games yes and uh like one of the big thing for him uh the beginning of the year is he bought a switch to um i paid it off today yeah yeah he he paid for half of it we paid for the other half and he paid us back for uh our half so he he owns the title to switch to free and clear um explain so the only game that we play together really is mario kart Yeah. I pretty good at Mario Kart Yeah I beaten you a few times I getting better Cooper and my wife Lindsay his mom they played Not this right Not Galaxy? No. The old school Mario. Not old school when I was a kid. We sometimes play Super Mario 3, but I'm terrible at that one. Okay, all right. So there's a lot of Mario play. Explain Mario Galaxy to me, the game. Okay, so the game is... uh princess peach has been kidnapped in bout by bowser and he took her to space okay and so you're being helped by rosalina and the other lumas to find it and the physics and gravity of this game hurts my head okay explain that to me like the gravity switches every three seconds like uh you can go under stuff and the camera perspective just doesn't change and since the anime this game was made in 2007 the animation isn't as good okay so it just kind of hurts your head to play it for more than an hour and a half okay interesting and you were playing that today yes okay i know i'm more inside baseball coop was sick today and so he stayed home from school and once he was feeling better was playing video games and watching movies with me today so it was a good it was a good work day for me um okay we i would say that the first mario movie in 2023 um is a for me as an adult is a pretty eh, that was fine kind of. I get it. Okay. It wasn't as good as I hoped. So there was a lot of discourse and some kind of backlash, I would say, on that movie for being sort of vanilla and being kind of middle of the road and and not really and and being I think there was a little bit of thought that the movie was sort of a cynical money grab. And my, my response to that kind of was like, right, but like kids need to be entertained. Yeah. Number one. And number two, you know, if you, if you make a lot of money you, you're able to continue making other movies so it's yeah i don't know it i i there it was a weird thing with the mario movie and then it is it's carried over to this one too while we're talking here i'm gonna pull up the rotten tomato score because i kind of forgot about that um i i feel like these movies have been sort of graded on using what uh movie critics would how the movie critics would grade a pixar movie instead of just being graded in the way that we we would grade a despicable me movie or minions movie or something like that yeah so i thought that the first one was fine i we had a good time in the theater we enjoyed i enjoyed it just fine i've seen bits and pieces of it a couple more times when your friends are watching it peaches peaches peaches was a moment. It was Chicken Jockey before Chicken Jockey. Don't remind me. But I'm mostly just kind of fine with that movie. Where are you at with the 2023 Super Mario Brothers? Alright guys, hope you enjoyed this little preview. If you want the full episode, it's a matteraboutmoviespodcast.com slash VIP. Get every single bonus episode we ever do. Thanks.
