Summary

Bill O'Reilly's April 13, 2026 update covers failed Iran nuclear negotiations leading to a U.S. Navy blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, Viktor Orban's election loss in Hungary, and sexual assault allegations against Congressman Eric Swalwell. O'Reilly argues the media's treatment of Trump is unfairly polarized regardless of his policy decisions.

Insights

  • Streaming economics have fundamentally restructured musician revenue models, forcing artists to rely on live performances rather than recorded music sales
  • Primary election mechanics can backfire on parties—California's jungle primary designed to eliminate Republicans may inadvertently help them by splitting Democratic votes
  • Media coverage of presidential decisions is increasingly polarized, with critics ready to attack regardless of whether action or restraint is chosen
  • Authoritarian leaders facing electoral defeat (Orban) may receive diplomatic support from U.S. officials despite democratic opposition

It is Monday, April 13th, 2026. Sears is happening today in America. Talks bomb. Blockade begins. Orban concedes and swallower thrown under the bus. It's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, speaking alongside Steve Wittkoff and Jared Kushner in Islamabad, the vice president said that after 21 hours of talks, it became clear that no agreement with Iran could be reached. The vice president said we had a number of substantive discussions with the Iranians. That's the good news. The bad news is that we have not reached an agreement. And I think that's bad news for Iran, much more than it is for the United States of America. The main point where they didn't agree was that Iran said they will not stop their nuclear program. In response, the president said that the U.S. Navy will begin a blockade of ships entering or leaving the Strait of Hormuz. The president said so. There you have it. The meeting went well. Most points were agreed to. But the only point that really mattered, nuclear, was not. So effective immediately, the United States Navy, the finest in the world, will begin the process of blockading any and all ships trying to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz. At some point, we will reach an all being allowed to go in, all being allowed to go out basis. But Iran has not allowed that to happen. By merely saying there will be a mine out there somewhere. But nobody knows about them. This is world extortion. And leaders of countries, especially the United States of America, will never be extorted. I've also instructed our Navy to seek and interdict every vessel in international waters that has paid a toll to Iran. No one who pays an illegal toll will have safe passage on the high seas. We will also begin destroying the mines the Iranians laid in the Straits. Any Iranian who fires at us will be blown to hell. The vice president was in Hungary last week to help Viktor Orban retain control as Prime Minister of the country. But his party has lost the election there. The opposition party is expected to win 135 of the 199 seats of the Hungarian parliament. The European Union generally hates Hungary because they're different. They've decided so far to remain hungry and not let in hordes of foreigners and to be an actually conservative government. And after 16 years in power as Prime Minister, Orban is out. The Manhattan DA's office is investigating claims of sexual assault against Congressman Eric Swalwell. Now four women have come out saying that they were assaulted by him. This is all coming out now because in California, they have a jungle open primary on June 2nd. So all the Democrats and all the Republicans run in one primary, top two move on. Democrats in California did this because the two Democrats always make it to the general election. But it might backfire. There's so many Democrats running, they may split the vote. And the two Republicans may advance to the general. So Democrats had to take someone out. They went with Swalwell. We went into more detail on this story on my podcast youtube.com slash at politics by faith. Bill Riley has your message of the day. Next. Time now for the O'Reilly update message of the day on this Monday. There's a saying by Machiavelli. Remember him? That kind of nasty Italian philosopher? Well, he says if you're going to dine with the devil, bring a long spoon. That means don't get too close to Satan. Well, we are dealing with the devil in Iran. There is no question the mullahs there are villains, killers, destabilizers, terrorists. And now, according to independent United Nations analysis, they're close to getting a nuclear weapon. That's why all this happened. That's why President Trump took action. Now, of course, anything the president does is going to be scrutinized. And he can't really win. If he takes out Iran, then he's a war criminal. If he allows Iran some kind of appeasement, then he is a taco, somebody who backs out of difficult agreements. This is brutally unfair, but the American media despises Donald Trump. I think in some cases, even more than they hate the mullahs. And this is playing out. Very difficult for the American people to find out exactly what is going on. But if you keep it here, I will tell you the truth. This deal that was made could collapse. Let's hope it doesn't. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at BillOReilly.com. Bill at BillOReilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. Now let's go to the mail. Brian Pierce, West Boylston, Massachusetts, Boston area. Hey, Bill, we got a federal income tax refund. It's about the same as last year, so much for the big refund. Hey, Brian, you check out your tax preparer. Find out why. Maybe you're making more money. I don't know. But there are significant tax refunds, but your preparer should be able to explain that to you. Everybody across the board doesn't make the same thing. Dave Yoshida, Rancho Cucamonga, California, Bill, the 14th Amendment wasn't the intent to give children slave citizenship since the parents are forced to be in our country, whereas visitors are undocumented immigrants are just that. So why would their children be provided? Because that's what the amendment says. Simple as that. They wanted an extension. They would have put it in there. Andrew Wilson, does New York City spend more of the average income on homeless? New York spends about $80,000 a year on each homeless person. $80,000. San Francisco spends more than $100,000. Crazy. Mike Casey, Philadelphia. Bill, your interview with Steve Croft was excellent. Two pros. Your elevator story about you and Andy Rooney is a classic. Okay, I don't know if Andy would see it that way, but I always tell the truth. Eugene Witkowski, Koyonoy, Thailand. Bill, just watch the interview with Steve Croft. It was good. So nice to listen to the pros. Okay, Croft's a pro. I think I'm a pro. So I'm glad you like the discussion. And that's what I was talking about. It's all over the place. So check it out. YouTube. And this isn't just lower income households. Middle-class families are also running out of options. If debt has been weighing on you, you are not alone. And waiting usually makes things worse. According to a study from Gallup, more than 100 million Americans attend live concerts every year, most between June and August. With summer closing in, here are some of the hottest tickets ranked by the Hollywood Reporter. Legendary rock band ACDC back on the road. The group formed in 1973, traveling from February to September in South and North America. Average ticket price $300 to see ACDC. Arianda Grande returning to the stage for her eternal sunshine tour. She'll also be performing songs from the recent Wicked Movie where she portrays a witch in the land of Oz. Costs see Miss Grande, $400 a seat. Bad Bunny is back, oh no. The halftime Super Bowl star can be seen in Australia, the Caribbean, USA, Canada, Latin America, and other places. Average price to see the malevolent rabbit. About a $500 tariff. Bon Jovi returning. The New Jersey Rockers promoting his 16th studio album titled Forever. Premium seats will set you back $1,000 each for Bon Jovi. The hottest act this summer, BTS. The Korean pop group is touring from April to December. It's the first major outing they've had in a decade. Tickets range from $400 to $7,000. Now what kind of a nitwit would pay $7,000 to hear a Korean pop group come on? And here's something else you might not know. There are real financial reasons for the insane prices. In 1990s, successful musicians earned 85% of their entire income from the sale of physical CDs and cassettes. In the age of streaming, however, that figure has fallen to just 5%. 30 years ago, an artist earned around $2 per album. Today, a song must be streamed 1,000 times to make a single dollar. Back after this. Thank you for listening to the O'Reilly Update. I am Bill O'Reilly. No spin, just facts, and always looking out for you.
