In love we find out who we want to be and where we find out who we are. Welcome back to Under the Cover of Night with Javyn, Lauren, and our guest speaker, Ms. Cox. Drum roll. Okay, so today we're going to be asking her some questions about the book. First, we're going to ask some more detailed questions and then we're going to have a lightning round. Lightning. You said it was speed. Speed, speed, lightning, whatever. Okay. So good speed. That's true. Okay, so am I going first? Yeah, you can go. Okay, first question. How did you like the book on a scale of 1 to 10? Do I have to be honest? Yeah, I'll be honest. Oh my gosh. If you don't like it, I'm going to cry. No, I like it. I like the concept of it. I like the idea of it. But I didn't finish it. So. She doesn't even. You don't really know what happens at the end. The end is the best part. I know what happens at the end because, you know, my husband told me. But anyway, so from what I've read and what I know of it, I would say it's probably like an eight and a half. Eight and a half. You've got to read the end, though. Yeah, maybe if I read the end. What do you mean you didn't read the last part? Like how many pages do you think? Chapters? Oh, my gosh. It was also years ago, so I don't even know. Okay, well, then what docks your points? What docks my points? Yeah. Her writing. You don't like it? I don't. Really? In the book or like? In general. Like, Kristen Hanna, I don't necessarily like the way that she writes. I know, it's terrible. But that also was before. Like, I love The Great Alone. Yeah, I love that one. I read The Four Winds. I loved the characters in that. But again, I hated the way that it was written. She's a little, like, overly descriptive. She describes everything. Yeah. I kind of like that, though. She tells me too much without showing me enough. Does that make sense? Like, she tells me how I'm supposed to feel about things. You can't have your own. Without, like, just, I don't know. She doesn't just give you facts. She tells you how it's supposed to. Gotcha. Yeah, she's like, this person is sketchy. So then I'm like, okay. They're sketchy. So you're sketchy. But it's not like this person, like, I don't know. Yeah, I understand. He wants with those weird, yeah, anyway. They just come out and call him sketchy. Yeah, so, and probably the reason, in full disclosure, before I read this book, I read another one that I really, really, really loved. And it was, the way that it was written was really intriguing and different. And then I went to this one and I just couldn't do it because it was so different and so, like. Yeah. So, yeah, sorry. Eight and a half, but. Without finishing the book. Maybe I'll read it. The last hundred pages Maybe you can do Well they get to pay for Audible Oh I know what that is But if you don like a book you can return it and get a new one Whatever. If you don't like it after you finished it, then I'm sorry. That's kind of pointless. So that was a long answer to that question. Okay. Favorite moment or part that stuck out to you? That you can remember, I guess, at this point. That I can remember. I mean, if you can remember, I guess it stuck out to you. That's true. This isn't even the hard ones. You're going to have to answer the speed round really fast. I know, I'm really bad. So I know that they invite, or not invite, but one of the officers has to come away with them. Yeah. Correct? That happens? so that part sticks out I don't know if I would say it was my favorite I need to read it but when they invite him in because one historical fiction is my favorite genre so I think that that is just an interesting plot device an interesting thing to happen in a book especially when you think Bible War 2 because I know that that happened but actually seeing it well she made it kind of real Like, I mean, that already happened, and then she wrote it in the book. I feel like that's why people like Titanic, because it, like, puts you on the ship. Yeah. And it really happened, so. I don't think of her life. Next question. Do you have a let go? Who is your favorite character and why? The spicy sister. What's her name? Isabel. Isabel. Isabel. Spicy. She really is spicy, though. She is. That's a good word. Spicy or feisty? Both? Ooh, probably both. She's feisty, too. favorite because she was a rebel mean she's you really you would chop all your hair off if somebody complimented it yeah well like a nazi i guess i would do like if my husband leaves the house and he's like hey could you do the dishes it's like i'm gone then i purposefully oh yeah other stuff don't do other stuff but if someone tells me to do something i refuse not a good character trait i kind of like that it's like uh you don't want people to tell you what to do it's like you're gonna do it until he tells you to do it and then and then he doesn't do that's like parents it's pretty much what happens don't do that to your kid i know don't say when they're about to do it don't be like don't tell them to do these dishes for me and then you're like they because you just don't want the parenting book that i just read such as that parenting book different podcast different different podcast it's your turn is it me oh okay that's your question i don't know well she didn't really remember him now because she barely knew that a guy stayed there just ask him okay his name is captain beg That's the guy. That the Nazi soldier He like the nice one He like that but he not Yeah he like the nice one I guess you could say He complex He a complex character Yeah How did you feel about Captain Beck Well, so if I, you can correct me if I'm wrong, but in the beginning, when he first comes to stay with him, he's not cool. No. But I kept expecting him to be. Yeah. Because of who he is and what he represents, probably. Well, I kind of liked him in a weird way. Very odd. You wanted to hate him, but you loved him. I was trying not to, so that was... Yeah. When the war got really bad and all the Parisians didn't have food, he made sure that they ate. Yeah, because... I remember he brought them fish and butter, and butter was like a delicacy. Or something. Yeah. So he made sure they were fit. And he told him about his family and stuff. Like, I don't know. And she killed him. Yeah. Spoiler alert. Hashtag. Was it in a barn? It was in that cellar they were going to go down. He was about to find Isabel and the pilot. And then they, he went. Vianne. I thought it would be Isabel, but. No, Vianne. Shot him. Did Vianne shoot him? Yeah, she shot him. I thought she had him over the head with a shot. Because he was about to see Isabel. Well, he did. And then, like, he, like, got his gun out. So she got her gun out. And was like, bam. Pop out. That was, like, a really twisted moment. Because you didn't expect her to do that. That's when Vianne really flipped. Yeah. She was like. Okay. Okay. the moment we've all been waiting for are you reading I feel like I need more water do you want me to yeah go ahead because I mean I can't really switch off yeah just do that okay okay honest answer you have to answer these like I'm talking snap and if I mess up I'm sorry because there's one on here that's really hard to say there's a lot there's like there's like eight nine Oh, yeah. Study up. Study up real quick. I opened the book. Okay. Well, I guess we can cut this first one off. Yeah, definitely. Is that mine or yours? We're starting with the hard one. Really fast. You ready? Yeah. Three, two, one. Wait. Wait, she doesn't know this. She doesn't know the first one, does she? What do I have to say in the place of I don't know? Like, what if I don't know? Just say I don't know. And then you go to the next one or I have to think. Do we need to come back to it? We can come back. It's like Steve Harvey. I'll say circle back. All right. Okay. Pass. Pass. Pass. Family food pass. Okay. Okay, ready? Three, two, one. Tell the son he's not his daddy's baby or don't tell the son at all. Is that a question? We'll circle back. We'll circle back. Wait, no. Is that a question? That's a question. Tell the son he's not his daddy's baby or don't tell the son at all. Don't tell him or keep it from him. Wait, so I have to decide. That's what you're telling me? That's yes. Is this like a this or that? Oh, like at the... Oh, see, that would have been... Sorry. Okay. I don't like that question anyways. So at the end though. Okay, sorry. It's a this is that, you like pick. At the end. I got you. Tell the son he's his baby's daddy or don't tell the son at all. Tell him. Oh. Be a spy or not be a spy. Be the spy. Would you go to great lengths to protect your child Yes Blue or yellow Blue or yellow Blue or yellow Isabelle or Rianne? Isabelle. Paris? Nah. Really? Wow. Join the resistance or stay at home? Join. Javin or Alarm? Join but like not be a leader. Just like join but like someone can tell me what I need to do, you know? Yeah. Javin or Alarm? What? I can't decide. Brooklyn. Brooklyn! That's all we had. The first one got you to... Like, it's tell the son he's not his daddy's baby. Or don't tell the son at all. Like, you know what I mean? Did you remember that part? Where he's like, he's the Nazi's son. Yeah. Julian. But he's not... You would tell him? She never told him. I know she did that's what's crazy you think that's like she's kind of stupid no I just think I think that's our reserve I don't think I would blame someone for not yeah he's got German like blood then all his kids will be like part German well he's not gonna know that yeah ancestry.com that's how it works identity test okay well that's all the questions we had anything you wanna add add about oh yeah there was something oh yeah yeah oh yeah question i have a question oh the movie is coming out gotta watch anything sisters dakota fanning do i know who that is nelson fanning who's dakota fanning what's she on she's in a lot of things but for some reason the only thing popping up i know what you're about to highlight oh okay she's a vampire is she rosalie wait look it up she's one of the Italian vampire. Well, Isabella's blonde. Oh, okay. Then she's definitely going to be Isabella. Yeah, and then her sister is going to be the other sister. Yeah, it doesn't even come out until we graduate. That's stupid. I'm not even going to remember this book by then. Are you going to come back to watch it with me? Yeah, if you do it. It'll be $4 for your ticket. Oh, yeah, maybe. $4 for your ticket.
